hi meli!! as you might imagine by the amount of reblogs I just made to your outer wilds art, I've played the game!! I've loved it!! (I am so emotional and empty now though) idk I know you love it so I just wanted to tell you 👉👈

anyway, since I'm here I'll ask you something too xD I've just finished the dlc and I found it very hard, how was your experience with it? I had to look up for some guidance online... Were you as afraid of the strangers as me? haha

I'm super happy to hear you liked the game!! Congratulations on finishing it! Also yeah, welcome to what i call "the post Outer Wilds depression"- where it's difficult not to feel empty and not harassing all your friends to play it hehehe-

So, regarding the dlc..

My experience with it was relatively similar to the base game. Of course there is FEAR.. but you are talking to someone who was scared of EVERYTHING in the base game LOL- (Like, litteraly. I got jumpscared by a quantum rock in the Ember Twin caves... A rock.) Still, i admit the DLC was scarier by adding the strangers. And at first i wasn't pleased to see horror game mechanics because im a real scaredy cat and i don't play horror stuff for that reason. But my boyfriend gave me a pretty good technique to overcome the fear which is, and i quote: "Try the worst case scenario to see what will happen" wich is to get caught by them. It's a game about dying every 22 minutes so, one more or less eh- And it truly demystified the whole ordeal for me. Nothing is stronger and scarier than our imagination and... you know... Seeing that they actually just turn off your flame to make you go away made me understand; hey- i'm the unwanted guy here. I am litteraly tresspassing! And they are just annoyed by it, rightfully so XD After that i really felt like the one trolling them by my presence. Still scared, but not as much as the very first time! And taking my time to solve the puzzle without the stress of getting caught helped a whole lot !

hey, remember being 18 years old and playing mass effect for the first time and it's got this like intense aura of being very small and very insignificant in a very big, very empty galaxy? remember playing mass effect for the first time and everything all of this is so new and mysterious, and it's 2am and you're sitting in a dark room in the light from your tv and you're playing through feros for the first time and you feel that this is someting very old and very ancient and you are somewhere you shouldn't be and you don't know what's going to happen or where you're going but you keep on. there's a tingling in your stomach and you're playing mass effect for the first time. the thorian is a milennia old sentient plant being. the rachni queen is old and telepathic and a hive mind and in pain. sovereign is an ancient machine that has not been built but is, and has always been, and this is something so alien and so unlike and beyond anything your human mind can comprehend, and this is something unexplainable and huge and as uncaring and indifferent as the empty galaxy around you. you're playing mass effect for the first time and you're walking on the surface of an almost completely empty planet with nothing but your two companions silently walking beside you and everything is so huge and empty and silent and you're so small and insignificant and it's so beautiful and so scary and you feel like you are on a rollercoaster about to drop down. you are playing mass effect for the first time and you're playing the mission on the moon and you stop and just look up at earth visible in the sky. you know this. this is home. you are playing mass effect for the first time, and the galaxy is so big, and you are so tiny, and everything is about to change for you.

I will never be over Leo’s 4D chess play in “Many Unhappy Returns”. Like, just in general it is a spectacle to see this character who we’ve seen goofing around time and time again, who’s only sometimes decided to take things seriously, only to show him making a maneuver like that.

And here’s what gets me the most about his plan against Big Mama: he comes up with it on the spot. The second he sees that Big Mama has the solution they need, he’s already in game mode.

It is so satisfying watching the episode back when you realize his plan, because he literally sets the stage entirely for a decisive victory. He sees that the champion is a kraken, and comes up with both the solution to defeating it and a reasonable excuse to get that solution into the battle with them on the fly:

“Like your champ aaand those six guys. In fact, we don’t want this over too quickly. You should armor up those rookies. The whole shebang. Especially with these pointy helmets.”

And this is why giving him teleportation powers is perfect, too. He analyzes the battlefield and makes use of all the assets, moving pieces around to guarantee a win. It is honestly so impressive to witness and one of my favorite parts of his character.

In the possessed doll au, Bruce is definitely a creepy kid.

This is, after all, a haunted au.

He looks like a 'murdered victorian child' kid. Even before he watched his parents die.

Like, very big pale blue eyes. Significantly more striking /pos as a smiling adult than a perpetually blank faced unblinking child. He looks like he knows how you die. Pale skin, ink black hair traditionally styled, big dark lashes to frame those uncanny eyes. Just the hint of eye bags.

Alfred in any timeline has a spine of steel, but there must have been at least once when he was woken up in the night to a tiny shape staring unblinkingly deep into his eyes and thought 'I am going to die'. Normal kids are absolutely terrifying to wake up to, as any parent will attest, but imagine being an ex military spy now butler living alone on the most cursed land you've ever imagined, taking care of the only kid after your employers, his parents were brutally murdered, and suddenly you jolt awake in the middle of the night to see two enormous eyes less than a foot from your face, two engorged dots for pupils, staring, still as stone into your very soul.

Bruce, hushed because it's bedtime: Mr Alfred I threw up :(.

Alfred, trying to calm his thundering heart and not reflexively shoot his ward, dizzy from the sudden adrenaline from deep sleep rush, not letting himself freak out in front of the boy:.............................. Oh dear. That's not good.

Bruce, still not blinking or looking away: :(((

Wayne manor is a setting from a murder mystery at night, and it's not Bruce but Alfred that's the main character.

Perhaps, he thinks, it was always going to end this way. Not because of fate, but because the characters of the play would not know themselves to act otherwise.
