I love playing Pokémon in a way that would absolutely kill anyone who knows a thing about the game. No I don’t know most weaknesses and strengths of typings or what I should be using. No I’m not building a well rounded team. No I don’t remember battle to battle what moves are effective against what Pokémon’s even if I just fought them and lord knows I don’t really understand their power or literally any stat my mons have. I am heavily brute forcing my way through this game with my team full of Sunflora fusions because this is Infinite Fusions and I can do that. Yes having everyone a grass type presents problems. No I don’t care! I will beef them up enough they can tank hits until I can destroy whoever I’m fighting and if all else fails I have potions and revives and everything I need on stock to keep going. I do not know what I’m doing but I’m having fucking fun with it!!!!

And you could make it so only those ecto-contaminated attract LBM. And maybe even add a magical-girl transformation esque fusion between the LBM familiars and the humans.

This is a great opportunity to give Sam, Tucker, Jazz, Valerie, Maddie Jack, heck! even Lancer a Little Baby Man .

Your art reminded me that we just straight-up have canon humanoid aliens in Pokemon. Not even just alien Pokemon, a full parallel society beyond a wormhole that makes first contact. There's intelligent life beyond the stars. And it's somehow entirely underwhelming

TO NOTE in a Pokémon HLVRAI idea I had (as well as taking some of my own personal inspiration from @bigfrogdraws) was Gordon being a Pokémon scientist who just so happens to stumble into Benrey after a wormhole incident, a ultra beast secretly posing as a recon squad member, who needs him to open a new wormhole to “go back home.”

Gordon’s own motivation to open the ultra wormhole again is bc of Ben and completely shutting the rifts opening and letting out dangerous Pokémon into the facility. Benrey just finds the new place cool but misses having his old pals around- nothing too malicious but he doesn’t realize how much destruction some of them cause *cough cough Guzzlord cough cough*

The science team are tagging along bc they want to help Gordon- and have Pokémon battles!

Benrey’s team consist of dark & bug types (+Poipole) but when the portal opens he gets a whole new team of ultra beasts. (Sorta like the Nihilego Lusamine fusion fight- an ultra beast uses “Pokémon” instead of directly fighting. Benrey moreso after watching the science team have cool battles the whole time- he even knows about type weaknesses!)

Ok so I have a interesting headcanon/question relating to how fusion and Pokemon works

Ok so

Is it possible if someone were to get fused, that they would lose their humanity and just be pokemon and act on instinct or something? I can see that happening with one of Dr Fuse's subjects and I imagine he's either "another day of hard work" or "this is fine" when it's not fine.

Also if someone is fused with a water type could someone theoretically beat them with a blade of grass?

HIHIHIHOHIHIHI HIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII DONT BE SORRY AT ALL I LOVE ANY QUESTIONS

SO! Yes, it is entirely possible for people to lose their humanity when fused with a Pokémon, either literally or metaphorically (but we’re talking literarily). This is especially common in Poison type fusions, as the poisons can sometimes overtake the human brain and cause them to act… off. They can act aggressively against people who have no grievances against them and act like they aren’t even there. If a human is “weak-minded” or easily manipulated, more often than not, the Pokémon’s brain will take over. The result depends on how intelligent the Pokémon they were fused with was/is.

However! This doesn’t mean that the shifts in the brain and manors of acting are common. It’s more common for the human brain to almost completely take over, aside from any Pokémon-like instincts that may linger within the humans fused brain. These instincts can manifest as: Preening feathers, itching/scratching with legs, curling up into a ball to sleep (though, most subjects end up doing that anyways.), having predator/prey like instincts (it’s imperative to keep Pokémon fusions with predator/prey relationships AWAY from eachother. Unless you wanna see some carnage, which, who knows :) The Doctor is a strange man.), and having nocturnal tendencies.

More often than not, if something unexpected happens in Fuse’s research (IF it doesn’t affect him personally personally), his reaction would be something along the lines of: “Fascinating.” He’d likely take notes of whatever he’s seen if his hands aren’t bloody. It’s not like he forgets anything though, he’s a man with the mind of a god.

Allergens aren’t uncommon when it comes to type disadvantages, but types like Dark, Ghost, and Fairy will not seriously harm the subject if they come in contact with other subjects of said/similar types. That being said, the worst that could happen if you touch a blade of grass to a fusion with the water typing would be severe allergic reactions, which Fuse would not be happy to have to go out of his way to deal with.

Okay so I'm thinking about how the Pokémon Day Presents is 20 minutes. I'm usually pessimistic about these because last time it was mobile game garbage with like a minute of okay stuff.

But here's what's guaranteed:

Scarlet and Violet DLC teaser or equivalent. Everyone that's played knows why so there's no point going further

What's most likely coming:

RBY, MAYBE Green for US I doubt it; GSC, and at the least RSE for NSO. I'd say FRLG too but they may opt to ignore it since LGPE exists on Switch. Either way, it's most likely the case due to the Nintendo Direct that announced Gameboy and GBA games but only showed the Pokémon TCG game for then. The trailer for the Presentation also previewed the old school sprites, the RBY intro, the RBG balloons- we know they like nostalgia, it's coming. Couple the GBA games with the events and the fact that 3ds will be closing shop next month, they pretty much are guaranteed to make it available.

PMD- something is being announced. My bet is on an Explorers remake since they recently dropped the OG remake. We know something is up due to the copyright being on the website code showing Spike Chunsoft 1993 to 2023, and unless they're suddenly going to drop Donphan Rompa and have Pikachu have to figure out which of his classmates killed Butterfree, that pretty much just points to PMD.

That alone should comprise at least 15 minutes. We could probably toss in a minute or 2 to casually remind everyone to download all the Pokestuff they can on the 3ds before the end time comes (so basically Bank- which will be free- and the SM demo for Ash Greninja).

Other than this that leaves a little wiggle room. A minute or 5 is guaranteed to be nostalgia bait and probably a montage of photos from the hashtag campaign they did for Twitter recently.

The only thing left I could guess would maybe be the usual rock cast at Pokémon Sleep, but only because it had a recent stir a couple of months back for... I think trademark, I might be wrong, but it was definitely a small behind the scenes ripple.

As always, I'll be praying for some reminder that Colosseum and XD existed. Won't happen because there's just not enough time. But I'll still hope for a third party studio to bring it back some day- and it'd fit since the GBA games will come back.

But anyway, why don't I have fun with a prediction of what the SV dlc will probably look like:

1. Hexagon legendary revealed, basically a piece of it exists in all Terra Orbs and its basically been soft fusion this whole time. Full form probably has something to do with a world turtle, 2 forms: ancient and future, dragon /Psychic type

2. New uniforms. Not full customization, but probably some special uniform for exploring deeper into Area Zero or some extra variants on the uniforms- maybe even straight up copies of Arven, Nemona, Team Star, and Clavell's uniform variants.

3. Probably mostly going to be artwork, couple of new characters locked to versions, and probably the professor OPPOSITE to the one we worked with- aka Arven's parent that bailed shortly after his birth- showing up suddenly.

4. 2 parts most likely, maybe a third if they really want to milk this. Hexagon is one part. The "Imagined" Pokémon the other (the Johto Beasts and Unovan Swords hybrids). Potential third is up in the air. One location is probably deeeeeeper into AZ and sort of a Hollow World (kinda like Halo 4). The other most likely that chunk on the north east of Paldea. My next guess would be islands way off the coast since apparently Paldea's oceans just go on forever, according to a recent Boundary Break video on SV- Essentially plenty of space for it.

5. More Paradox Pokémon. If I were a betting man- and I do enjoy gacha- I'd wager either paradoxes for Kanto starters OR Sinnoh starters since they basically got left in the rain for new forms. Probably Kanto because they love jacking Charizard off and Ohmori can't go one game without giving his favorite special privileges. But if they ever wanted to drop Gorochu, it's now or never. Probably an ancient pokemon with either a future counterpart or Eevee or Meowth gets a future counterpart.

6. a forgotten Pokémon gets a new form and evolution akin to Slowbro. Betting on Oddish or Poliwag, or generally a Pokémon with a split evolution so they can milk it like Slowbro in Isle of Armor and Slowking in Crown Tundra.

7. Called something like "Azure Ocean" or "Topaz Tunnel" or "Quartz Quarry"- keeping up with fancy color names.

Of course I could be entirely wrong, none of any of the above happens, and it's just something very, very minor.

Damien's 20 Favorite Pokémon

19. Lycanroc

Well would you look at that: another one of my Gen 7 favorites. Now, I was torn on which form of these Bedrock Borfs made my list: is it the calm and methodical Midday Form, or the wild and unpredictable Midnight Form?

And then USUM goes: "Screw it, let's give 'em a third option!" and gave us the Dusk Form.

This pupper evolves from a special Rockruff with the Own Tempo ability during the hours of 5pm to 6pm (hence its name).

Lycanroc's Dusk Form strikes me out as a fusion of both forms of the wolf Pokemon; its posture and the four rocks protruding from its fur forming the Sun is from its Midday Form, while its spike shaped fur takes inspiration from its Midnight Form. This makes sense since the evening takes place after 12 AM (Midday) and before 12 PM (Midnight).

This combination of both forms doesn't only apply to its appearance. Lycanroc's Dusk Form has a calm demeanor and is pretty loyal to its trainer, a trait it took from its Midday form. But once it's sent into battle, that's where its Midnight Form emerged, relentless in defeating its opponent with its bloodshot eyes. Such duality is what makes me love this version of The Wolf Pokémon.

As of November 2023, Lycanroc's Dusk Form is the only form to not be labeled Untiered in Smogon's 6v6 Singles format; and for good reason. Its Base 117 Attack is only 2 points higher than its Midday Form while its Base Speed is 2 points lower at 110. And investing in Attack more is a good choice, especially since Lycanroc's Dusk Form has the Tough Claws ability which grants a 30% boost to every move that makes contact with the opponent.

Speaking of contact moves, Lycanroc's Dusk Form has so many that benefited from Tough Claws; one of them being its signature move, a +1 priority Rock Type move called Accelerock. This move coupled with either a Life Orb or a Choice Band turns this Pokémon into a devastating revenge killer, though you should avoid being too reckless since Lycanroc's Dusk Form is pretty frail and Mono-Rock isn't a good typing defensively.

They say dogs are a man's best friend, and Lycanroc's Dusk Form proves just that in my eyes. Fiercely loyal and determined in battle, this sunset wolf is all I need whenever I travel to the land of Alola.

I'm just worried that training will prove quite a hassle since it has a temperamental nature.

Bioshock, Resident Evil (4 is my fave by I also love 1, 2, 5 and Code Veronica X) Castlevania, Jet Set/Grind Radio, all Fromsoft games I’ve played which are some dark souls, sekiro, bloodborne, Metroid’s Fusion and Prime especially but most metroid games, Half Life, Zelda (Twilight Princess is my fave) Mario sunshine, Last of Us, Uncharted, Elder scrolls 4 & 5 (I also like eso) loved Destiny 1 and 2 up until last year. No Man’s Sky, Beyond Good and Evil, I like some Pokémon games, Wolf Among Us, Crysis, Mass Effect trilogy (didn’t like Andromeda) Fallout 3, NV, and 4 is alright, animal crossing new leaf and new horizons, Batman Arkham City, Divinity Original Sin 2, Shadow of War (lotr) Gears of War trilogy, silent hill 2, Borderlands trilogy, Star Wars kotor, Cyberpunk 2077, Dead Space, Darksiders trilogy, and that’s about all I can think of right now tho I know I’m missing some good ones I can tell lol I also miss the Sims and Nintendogs sm

How would you rank the Pokémon Villian leaders from least favorite to favorite

(Feel free to include the Orre games)

I actually haven’t played the Orre games (YET... though I very much want to) So I’ll just rank all the team leaders from the main series 👌

Also I’ll give Rose an honorable mention since I haven’t finished SWSH yet and so I don’t really have a full sense of his plan. I do think he is delightful so far, though. Love his energy.

Another honorable mention is Colress, he’s not a team leader, he’s more of a high-ranking admin, but I still want to come out and say that he is wonderful and I love him a lot.

SO here’s the actual list, from least favorite to most favorite: (under the cut because this gets long)

Lysandre: Poor Lysandre...it kills me because I think he had so much potential as a villain, but his scheme is honestly really forgettable to me despite him having a really cool design and aesthetic. I love the orange and black color pallet, but it can’t really save him from being kind of an underwhelming villain to me. (Honestly, I think the entire X and Y plot had so much missed potential but I’ll probably save that for a different post some other time.)

Giovanni: Now from here on out, I actually really like all of these villains so it was a bit tricky to order them :’) But Giovanni is a really good team leader, and one of the scarier ones I think. Team Rocket is really threatening and shows that Gio really just cares about money, even when he has to hurt people or Pokémon to get it. His dynamic with his son Silver is really heart-wrenching and his involvement with the Mewtwo project is so despicable. And his role as the last Gym Leader is definitely one of the best plot twists in all of gaming. He’s intimidating, he’s ruthless, he’s honestly really great.

Lusamine: Yeah, I’ll include the Aether foundation president here despite not being a “team” she is the main antagonist of SM/USUM. And she is a delightfully cruel one too. She’s so self-absorbed that she had no problem pushing her own family away, including her two children who she practically disowns because they’re not “beautiful” enough for her. She’s honestly so despicable, but somehow manages to still be such a fascinating antagonist whose actions really did hurt me while playing the game. And bonus points because she has an awesome fusion with the Ultra Beast and it really shook me to my core when I first played. Her story (and honestly the whole plot of this game as a whole) is so rich and deep and underrated imo.

Archie and Maxie: I’ll put these two together since in the context of the games they’re mostly the same just a different coat of paint (ORAS made them a lot more individualized though, which is really nice and appreciated ) but they were the ones to kick off the “Harness the power of the ancient legendary Pokémon to accomplish my goals” series of plotlines, and though I think theirs is a bit more underwhelming than the other goals of leaders I’ll talk about soon, I do think it’s super iconic. They’re also one of the few leaders to actually show remorse for their actions and want to stop the mess they created. I don’t think I can pick a favorite between the two, they’re both very enjoyable in their own ways. I also love their rivalry and how they tend to dig at each other from time to time, it’s really entertaining.

Guzma: GOSH I adore this boi, he is SO delightful. Despite him not really being “evil” per se, he does have a good amount of chaotic energy and he just gives me a great big smile whenever he comes into the scene. I love how he is such a softie deep down, adopting all these misfits to be a part of his team and clearly considering them to be like a big family. They’re like a canon found family and you have no idea just how much pure joy that gives me. He’s also probably the most quotable of all the villains, giving us gems such as “It’s ya boi, Guzma” and “Y’all are stupid!”. He’s honestly such an absolute delight and I love him so much.

Cyrus: So Cyrus is one of the villains I only recently started to appreciate once I started getting back into replaying the main series and realizing just how deep his character goes. Game Freak gave this man a tragic backstory and you know I had to go and dig into it as much as I could. You can learn so much about him just by reading in between the lines of how he talks and how others talk about him. He’s sad, lonely, cold-hearted and wants to create a world lacking in spirit so that no one has to ever feel the pain of sadness ever again. But by doing that, he is getting rid of all emotions, even the positive ones. So he’s really willing to stop feeling happy if it means he won’t get to feel sadness anymore either. It’s insane and really something that stands out to people once they grow up. I know I certainly didn’t realize this as a kid. I just really feel for him and want him to be happy,,,

Ghetsis: And finally we arrive at my absolute favorite evil team leader, and the one probably no one expected! I hate him so much, and I think that’s why he's just so great. His writing makes him so devious, so twisted and terrifying that it really makes me feel so strongly about the already genius story of BW. He is admittedly one of those villains that’s mostly evil for evil’s sake and I wouldn’t go so far as to say he’s as complex as Cyrus. But darn it, I can’t feel anything but absolute loathing for this man and his twisted ambitions, the way he raised a child to be nothing more than his human puppet...the way he manipulated the whole region to nearly go against us and separate humans and Pokémon from each other for good... the way he was so close to actually accomplishing his goals...the way he was so bitter about losing to the hero of BW that he actually goes out of his way to try and murder the hero of BW2...this man is just absolutely insane and probably the most terrifying villain Pokémon has to date and I will always get such enjoyment out of beating the crap out of him whenever I go and replay BW.

I finished Pokémon Legends Arceus Main story today!

Couple thoughts, massive spoilers ofc so don't read unless you've beat the main story by now:

What the fuck was that Palkia form sfhshjfsgjhfjfhfsgj, it was like, a fusion between Arceus and Palkia??? Wtf lol.

I so hope Post game helps us learn more about it because holy heck. That was an awesome battle, althou..... are we supposed to send our Pokémon in for a battle? I, never got the chance, haha.

But man do I love this game so so much, I chose to go with Adaman for the Lake Trio exhibition trip (hehe), and man, I love his character so much. I also really really adore Irida, and love how both learned to accept each other. Really awesome story, honest.

Now, I also went and caught Shaymin (bugger was super hard to catch), and then talked to Volo a bit, very excited to do some ruin exploration quest now? Like, hieroglyphs :3 I found so many during my explorations and always was left wondering wtf they meant. So excited for this post story~

But yeh! Totally love the game and there's still tons to do. Looking forward to learning what Cyndaquil and Oshawott's Hisuian final evolutions are like.

this is my one-per-fandom allowed purple prose romance fic for Campaign Star Wars, ft. second person narration and a generic first line that is definitely a placeholder for something cooler when i think of it later on. i'm not a fan of opening on something this observational, and with 2nd pers pov it feels even more deliberately detached, a thing i want and do sometimes but not especially here.

this fic was originally a one-sentence microfic i lightly edited, it's five whole sentences long now! so of course the first sentence is packed and rambly, but i kind of enjoy the out-of-breath, suspended quality of long-running sentences in some cases, and i feel like here it fits

it sounds like another purple prose fic but hear me out, there's one pseudo-poetic paragraph and then it drops into a dry, snarky, analytic call-out of the narrator. on its own it's a terrible sentence and i absolutely hate reading it :D
