I got home a few hours ago and I'm emo as fuck. I watched Seven Kings Must Die on the train back home, which was dumb, and I miss the cast and my friends a lot already. The absolute highlight of the con for me was Arnas very unexpectedly reassuring me that I am deserving of good things, to which I said he is also a very deserving person but he quickly said 'no, no, this is not about me,' and that made me very emotional for the rest of the evening.

Anyway, shortly after all that I finally popped the big question, you guys! He wrote down a quote I picked myself so I can get it tattooed some day and I can't wait to get it, hopefully next year.

Karen CONSTANTLY putting herself into situations she cannot defend against, forcing other characters (men) to rescue her or die protecting her. Cool, cool, cool. Reinvent the damsel in distress trope but call it feminism because she subverts expectations by proactively putting herself into these circumstances, instead of them just happening to her.

I wish they had better plans and follow-through for the Hand.

DD (especially the series) is so famously grounded in realistic, street-level violence. But since it still exists in the Marvel universe, yes, there IS going to be overlap with the extraordinary and supernatural. And the Hand IS a Daredevil creation, as well as being a constant antagonist for him in the comics. I think it's perfectly natural they would come up in the series, and I think (absurd as it might seem) they could have worked if done right.

But they teased too cryptically in S1 (when they could have been laying a little more groundwork maybe). Then S2 came along and they gave too much all at once, cramming in a lot to: share time with the Punisher storyline and try to set up The Defenders. It very suddenly became "both feet in." I think they should have planned the release a lot better. I also think they could have.

Sorry, I'm very post-S2 rewatch right now. I know I'm not saying anything new. Most people feel this way. But I see a lot of those people say they shouldn't have done the Hand at all. No, I think it's fine. Matt is not some Amish superhero who has no contact with the world around him. Even the series itself starts off post-alien invasion thwarted by a god and other enhanced individuals. Matt exists in a smaller scale of that, but he still exists in it. Having the Hand is fine. They just needed to do it right, with better/slower build-up. (They also never reeeeally explained the Black Sky or "Substance" that keeps them alive.)

Bro has a whole wardrobe for Lil Cal for every minor event that occurs in the Strider household. I want them going on genuine dates. Maybe even... holding hands. To sum it up, whenever Bro makes a new smuppet design, he then gives it a video debut on his website, where uh, Lil Cal births the smuppet like it's a horror movie scene, fake blood and poly-fil gore all over the place as the smuppet crawls out from the viscera. Bro then gets to play aftercare by lovingly and gently cleaning up and restuffing Lil Cal as they get to admire their new creation and rake in the dough lol.

So it's technically not a 'you should see the other guy' kinda situation, but it does involve one of them being... idk what word would describe it. Injured by the other? Usually a character loses a fight and says this to act like they got out of it better than the other guy, but... We could have someone knock on the door during the filming of a scene like that, and Bro has to answer it with fake blood up to his elbows, and be like 'You should see the other guy.' (But obviously, that's a terrible idea and would cause more trouble than it's worth... Maybe worth it for a persistent door to door salesperson, though.)

Though, I guess I should also say, I'm not opposed to Bro beating on Lil Cal in or out of the bedroom. Or in the case of animate Lil Cal, Cal choking out Bro. In or out of the bedroom, lol. Depends on the situation, like I said I will ship this ship any which way. But my preference for animate Lil Cal is to be like a totally normal puppet around Bro (or mushy in-love with Bro) and then evil-murder-puppet towards anyone else in Bro's life, like a... toxic yaoi guard puppet. (New Phrase Achievement Unlocked!) Bro brings home another guy to have sex, who tries to stay the night due to the late hour, but the guy wakes up shortly after to see Lil Cal standing there with a knife in the dark, eyes glowing red. Thinking about them always and forever: Listen. My Tumblr as proof, I've had BroCal on the brain for at least 11 years at this point. Definitely longer, since I first started reading Homestuck. I fucking love puppets and dolls and plushies and I always have.
