आज से अधिकमास शुरू हो चुका है, इसे मलमास, पुरुषोत्तम मास के नामों से भी जाना जाता है। अधिक मास में कुछ नियम भी बताए गए हैं, इन नियमों का पालन करने से अधिक मास में भगवान विष्णु का आर्शाीवाद प्राप्त होता है। शास्त्रों के अनुसार मनुष्य को पुण्य लाभ कमाने के लिए अधिमास की व्यवस्था की गई है। हालांकि अधिकमास में शुभ कार्य नहीं किए जाते हैं। लेकिन धार्मिक अनुष्ठान कथा आदि के लिए यह महिना उत्तम माना जाता है।

अभी हिन्दी पंचांग का संवत् 2077 चल रहा है। इस संवत् में 12 नहीं 13 माह हैं। एक अधिकमास है, जो कि 18 सितंबर से शुरू होकर 16 अक्टूबर तक रहेगा। अधिकमास यानी अधिमास को मलमास और पुरुषोत्तम मास भी कहते हैं। इन नामों के संबंध में कई मान्यताएं प्रचलित हैं। उज्जैन के ज्योतिषाचार्य पं. मनीष शर्मा से जानें अधिकमास से जुड़ी खास बातें...

क्यों कहते हैं मलमास?

अधिकमास में विवाह, मुंडन, नामकरण, जनेऊ संस्कार जैसे मांगलिक कर्म नहीं किए जाते हैं। इस माह में विवाह की तारीख तय की जा सकती है। नए घर की बुकिंग की जा सकती है। जरूरत के सामान जैसे वस्त्र, खाने-पीने की चीजें आदि खरीदने की मनाही नहीं है। इस माह में सूर्य संक्रांति नहीं होती है यानी पूरे अधिकमास में सूर्य का राशि परिवर्तन नहीं होगा। इस माह में संक्रांति नहीं होने के कारण ये मास मलिन कहा गया है। इसलिए इसे मलमास कहते हैं।

क्यों कहते हैं पुरषोत्तम मास?

इस नाम के संबंध में कथा प्रचलित है कि मलिन होने की वजह से कोई भी देवता इस मास का स्वामी बनना नहीं चाहता था। तब मलमास ने भगवान विष्णु से प्रार्थना की। विष्णुजी माह की प्रार्थना से प्रसन्न हुए और इसे अपना श्रेष्ठ नाम पुरुषोत्तम प्रदान किया। साथ ही, विष्णुजी ने इस माह को वरदान दिया कि जो भी भक्त इस माह में भगवत कथा श्रवण, मनन, भगवान शिव का पूजन, धार्मिक कर्म, दान-पुण्य करेगा उसे अक्षय पुण्य मिलेगा।

पितृ पक्ष के बाद शुरू नहीं होगी नवरात्रि

हर बार पितृ पक्ष के बाद अगले दिन से ही नवरात्रि शुरू होती है। लेकिन, इस साल पितृ पक्ष के बाद अधिकमास शुरू हो जाएगा। इस वजह से पितृ पक्ष और नवरात्रि में पूरे एक माह का अंतर रहेगा। नवरात्रि अगले माह अक्टूबर की 17 तारीख से शुरू होगी।
