We were all so excited for a new era in the moors. Aurora was able to escape her fate, and now it was a time for celebration. Well, actually, time for her coronation, then the celebration.
"I had a hand in preparing festivities," Aurora began, "but wasn't able to see the final look. Oh, I can hardly stand the wait!" You were helping her style her hair. Due to the occasion, it would require many jewels and braids and all other 'nonsense' as Aurora would call it.
"I still do not see why I can not leave it down!" She would say. In reality, she was just trying to speed up the process of preparation as much as she could. In all fairness, you didn't know anyone who wasn't buzzing with excitement today. It had been so long since there were any coronation in the moors, and everyone wanted to do it right.
"It is tradition," you tried to tell her. But eventually, you gave in. With a sigh, you said, "We have changed many things from tradition today, actually." You looked at her in the mirror, "Why not this as well?"
"Yes! Please!" She turned to you with a bright smile. Just seeing the way her face lit up eased some of the pressure of having a traditional 'perfect' assembly. It made you think she too was part fairy, because she was definitely magical.
"Alright," you replied with a soft smile. She helped in taking down the braids you had already done. And after you brushed through her hair one last time, you set her free from her torment of being beautified. "Have fun."
"I will, and thank you for your help," being Aurora, she gave you a crushing hug.
"Careful! We worked hard on you," you joked. She carried her laugh with her as she left the room. You saw her embrace another in her path. You couldn't make out the stranger until he crossed the corner.
"Hello, fair (Y/n)," said Diaval with a small bow. He, too, must be overdoing the traditional values, you thought. You smiled at his formality and chose to copy it.
"Hello, dear Diaval," you bowed lightly, "how may I be of service?"
"I would like to bestow a gift on the most beautiful creature in the moors," his voice was smooth. It always made your heart flutter, no matter how long you've known him.
"Is Maleficent here as well?" You pretended to look for her.
"No, she is already in place. I meant the other most beautiful creature in the moors," he said cocking his head. He loved to play into your banters with you. It was one of the many reasons he was drawn to you initially.
You dropped the bit and laughed. "What do you have for me, my love?"
"A surprise, so you must close your eyes." You inhaled sharply and shut your eyes. Anticipation was growing in you with every second. You held out your hands for what new beautiful stone or shiny coin your lover had brought you now. You heard his steps move behind you, and your eyebrows knitted together lightly.
You felt a cool weight on your chest, a little lower than your collarbones. Then, a cool chain drop around your neck. When told to, you opened your eyes. You picked up the jade pendant and gasped. "Diaval, it's beautiful. Where did you find it?" You turned and sat on the same seat Aurora just was and gazed in the mirror.
He watched you admire the gem with an expression of adoration. "It was found in the river. The fae there gave it to me. I was told to only give it to one that I would pledge my heart to." He made eye contact with you in the mirror as he spoke. You turned from the mirror to look up to his eyes directly. He took one of your hands and placed it on his chest, "I pledge my heart to you, (Y/n)." The statement stole the air from your lungs.
You took one of his hands and placed it on your chest. "And I pledge my heart to you, Diaval." He looked into your eyes for a moment, studying every possible movement. He looked for any chance that you did not mean your declaration. When he could not find it, he sighed and rested his other hand on the side of your face.
His eyebrows furrowed upwards, utterly lost in you. As if in sync, you both collided in a kiss of passion. His hand that was on your heart slid down to your waist to pull you closer. Your hand that was on his heart moved up into his hair, finding a firm grip to push him further into you.
You both reluctantly pulled back for air. Diaval's hand comes up to hold the jade pendant, and you hold his hand over it as you both catch your breath. But soon your lips find each other again. However, they are interrupted by Aurora shouting, "C'mon! We are about to begin."
It shocked you both and you shared an embarrassed laugh. "On our way!" You called back. Diaval fixed your outfit and you fixed his hair.
He held out his arm, "Shall we?" You took it without hesitation, and you both arrived barely on time.
"And what kept you two from getting here earlier?" Maleficent raised a brow. Her tone would come off as cold to one who didn't know her well. But with the history the three of you had, you knew she wasn't really that upset.
"We got caught up, mistress. Apologies," Diaval replied.
Maleficent looked down at the necklace, now adorning your neckline. "Jade?" she looked up at you, then Diaval. She didn't day anything else, but a small smile appeared on her lips.

Here is the sixth collage of my Disney Princess and their iconic items series. I fear that this will also be the last one, as I'm having trouble narrowing down the iconic items of the other princesses. Mulan's is between her hair clip and one of the two swords she held, Rapunzel's is either a lantern, the Sun-Drop flower or Corona's sun crest, Merida's bow is more of an iconic weapon than an item and as for the others I'm drawing a blank. If you would like to see more of these collages or for this collage series to be completed with the rest of the Disney princesses, please share for thoughts on the series itself and what you think that the other items are.

Sleeping Beauty (1959) turned 65, and it remains still such a beautiful film. It's one of my favourite quintessential fantasy films, and I adore princess Aurora and Maleficent!

everyone awoke to malleus defeated. except for you meant to be read as platonic malleyuu but can be read as romantic.
Malleus could hardly breathe. every inhale felt like it was too small, like the air surrounding him was too thin. His lungs were empty, barren, and dry. And then he would exhale. a shaky breath. It rattled his bones and burned in his chest. As if nothing but flames raged in his insides. Before him laid a friend, a betrayed comrade, someone who put too much trust in the wrong people. You. You were asleep there, in a bed of thorns and roses, nestled deep and safe. Each petal cradled your cheek like a picture frame and you were a work of art. It all felt so clinical, so far away that Malleus could hardly tear his eyes away from your sleeping form. while constricted by vines to your familiar bed in ramshackle, no thorns pierced your skin. you knew no pain lying there. only dreams. It hardly felt real.
Malleus had made a mistake. He knew he had as soon as the blot began pouring from behind his tongue. but he couldn't stop it. the delirium. it poured out of him like a cracked glass of sand. In those fleeting moments, nothing had mattered more to him. The blot retched every single negative emotion out of his soul, bearing it for the world to bear witness to. And he was ashamed.
but you and the others had succeeded against him, saving all of your classmates and himself from the curse of eternal slumber. One by one, they all began awakening. Eyelids fluttering in the new morning sun. He awoke to the sound of laughter and cheers while he laid there on the broken floor, alone and empty and so so cold. Quietly, Malleus raised his head to thank? Curse? The Ramshackle prefect that laid beside him.
only, you remained there. asleep. too far gone and too far deep for anyone to reach out to. it was like your soul and body were separated, torn asunder. the only sign of life was your chest moving up and down from the breath that filled your lungs. At the moment, Malleus thought perhaps you were simply exhausted, with the heavy bags under your eyes and the pale complexion dusting your cheeks. Like the others, he thought that you only needed more rest. But days passed and there were still no signs of life behind those closed eyes. The teachers talked amongst themselves, unwilling or perhaps unable to offer any sort of explanation. There were talks about asking for assistance from other bodies but they were quick to be shot down. It seemed like nobody knew what to do with you. Or… your body.
Nobody took it well.
Malleus in particular had ceased his studies, locking himself away in your room in Ramshackle. Ace and Deuce would appear on occasion, Grim in tow, but the three were quick to make themselves scarce once Malleus made it clear he was not leaving your bedside. He sat there for hours, uncaring of the passing of time as night became morning and dawn became dusk. What were mere days to a nigh immortal fae. If this was his curse, to watch the one human who befriended him and suffered for it waste away from his own folly, then so be it. Every morning, like clockwork, he sat there. Unflinching. Unmoving. Like a gargoyle. His eyes were empty and red, long dried from tears but he couldn’t drag himself away from you - he refused to even think of calling you a corpse.
This day was like any other. He sat there beside you, his hands in his lap, the book he had foolishly planned to humor to read had been cast aside long forgotten, but for some reason the sight of you there pricked at his heart more than before. His voice came out quiet, weak from disuse, but he made an effort all the same.
“My child of man.” he croaked, his tone heavy with shame and sadness, “I will not ask you for forgiveness.”
He took a shaky breath. Hesitantly, he reached out with a weak hand and clasped your own. The thorns around you pricked him and drew blood, but he paid no mind to it. He felt nothing. Numb. Malleus choked back tears as he pulled your hands close to his chest and against his still beating heart. He lowered his head in agony as he confessed like a convict at death’s door. “What I have done to you is unforgivable.”
He held you to him. Like if he held onto you tight enough, you wouldn’t fall even more to pieces. “You were my first true friend, my closest companion. The only one who treated me as if I was an equal…” He bit back a sob as he tried to cradle his face between his hands, desperate for your touch to once again warm his bones. But there was nothing. Only the cold. “And now I’ve lost you.”
“And not a day shall pass in the centuries that I am cursed to live will I ever forget your smile.” Then with an almost reverent touch, the prince brought your hand to his lips and pressed a delicate kiss to the back of your hand. His lips stayed there, the taste of salt and skin filling his tongue, but he made no effort to move while he cried.
So far gone was he that he never noticed the batting of eyelashes, the furrowed brows, or the intake of breath. So far gone that it wasn’t until he felt your hand, tiny and weak, press against his dark hair, did he lift his head.
“Good morning, Hornton.”

It will forever be hilarious to me that Disney wanted so fucking bad to make a Wicked movie — but couldn't get the rights from Universal — that they literally spent billions upon billions of dollars making SEVEN different films (and a whole season of television; not even including their sequels and spinoffs) more than one of which they even got Idina and Kristen to be in based on the stripped-down premise of "what if the Stock Female Antagonist™ was secretly the Misunderstood Angsty Girlboss Heroine™ all along?" (because Disney execs don't actually care about Wicked, they just saw Green, said "hey! if we can't get the real thing, why not use Our Own (and/or Public Domain) characters?" and simply followed the Marketing Department Road all the way to the bank).
Less funny is the fact they were so successful at it — regardless of the merits (or lack thereof) of any of those projects — that it ended up getting the production of the actual Wicked movie delayed by more than a decade (because it would ironically have looked like a copycat and probably faded into the background if it had come out back when Disney was pumping out knockoffs every fucking year).
