I'm once again down the rabbit role that is sizzy and shadowhunters - well, I never really left, but sometimes I put them a bit aside to enjoy other passions - anyway...

I'm once again thinking about - and feeling very angry about how Izzy's feeling regarding Max's death were poorly handled and put aside to give more importance to Malec and Clace love conflicts - and yes, I get that they were kinda the centre of everything, but still - and even more angry with the fact that when Izzy needed Alec the most he decided to go on vacation with his boyfriend. And how Jace was too busy following Clary around like a lost puppy

and the only person who saw her, who was there to comfort her, was Simon. scrawny little mundane bastard, Simon. except he was not. scrawny. or a mundane. (see what I did here?) anyway, Simon was the ONLY ONE by her side when she needed the most. the only person who actually understood her, her pain... Simon was the only person to tell Izzy that what happened to Max wasn't her fault.

that's why Simon was the first and only person Izzy really opened up to. like for real. the only person to who she felt comfortable enough to tell one of her family's big secret - the fact that Robert had cheated on Maryse and was going to leave them, and only stayed bc of Max. Simon, who never expected anything from her, who loved her for who she was and never tried to change her, never wanted to change her.

anyway, I'm losing my train of thoughts now so I'll stop talking

@faejilly so @saeths and I were talking about how Magnus has a reputation in the mundane underworld because sometimes he has to get involved when magical drugs and etc move over. Plus business deals.

And Alec has like no mundane identity and at first they (mundane ppl) think he’s muscle/bodyguard but Alec gets huffy the first and only time they try to send ‘entertainment’ to him and Magnus and Magnus has a very quiet and intimidating word.

So Alec becomes known through mundane circles as Magnus’ mob wife (cause it’s a position not a gender) and everyone tries to avoid saying it around alec ‘cause he’s scary and stereotypes’

And when alec ‘finds out’ —he’s actually knows for ages— He’s 100% okay with it because 1) it’s a mundane title and he could care less what mundanes think of him unless it could hurt Magnus’ rep 2) he’d rather be called Magnus’ wife than his bodyguard 3) it means he doesn’t have to bother the clave or magnus for a mundane identity

Alec keeps getting chatted up by trophy wife’s and arm pieces and is So Confused™️ because on one hand, he totally gets these really weird mundane women who aggressively Support their husbands, but also they all start crying when he mentions that he and Magnus had to get new rugs because he tracked too much blood in the house and brain matter is apparently a biohazard

Alec with all these super jeweled up women flipping out three throwing knives: Magnus wanted to put diamonds on them, but it would have thrown off the weight

An actual mob wife later to her mob boss husband: honey look, the girls and I can’t take much more of this. Just let Magnus bring his boy in with him

Mob husband: magnus talks about him like he’s crystallized honey. No way trophy wife like him can handle our convos

Mob wife the next event chugging Chardonnay and long islands

Alec: Magnus got me this new poison, apparently it can’t be tasted once it’s added to water and turned to ice.

Mob wife to waiter: another Long Island. On the rocks. Double rocks. No make it triple. (Yes this is in response to Alec mentioning deadly ice. She has Hope).

This has only been like, four meetings btw. Alec was trying So Hard™️ to blend in with mundanes.

Alec also hates Long Islands ice teas and Chardonnay. And Pinot noir. If you offer him an old fashion (he hates Lorenzo) he’ll pour it on your shoes.

He also fits in very well because he talks about how Magnus sometimes helps picks his clothes and takes him shopping. And how he makes breakfast. And is constantly picking up whatever Magnus tosses (a few spell books and always Alec’s work phone). Magnus normally orders drinks for him to try (he has more experience and knows Alec’s palette) and Alec is generally just very quiet for the most part because he 1) has no interest in talking with mundanes and is only doing this because he knows it’s important to Magnus and he didn’t like Magnus being offered entertainment (he trusts Magnus 100% it’s just irritates him). 2) is naturally quiet and likes to observe 3) it takes the women two times to notice he’s there and two times for them to beg for him to never come again 4) Alec has no understanding of mundane gender roles, mundane underworld roles, mundane life, crime life or etc so he doesn’t make sense and no one makes sense to him.

Magnus just loves Alec and likes him being involved in all aspects of his life and Magnus and Cat are both are giant trolls. They dish over brunch every month that these meetings happen. Magnus has surveillance spells so she and cat can watch Alec and mob wives talk. Alec knows that Magnus has spells.

They are all awful trolls of mundanes and it’s 100% amazing.

Alec when he’s ‘allowed’ in the ‘important’ meeting and he doesn’t give a single solitary fuck and just snuggles up to magnus and reads his book because he’s bored af.

Magnus: he won’t be pulled away from his book for anything less that a natural disaster, you mentioned there was a chemical explosion?

ANOTHER PSA OF BOOK MALEC RANT AND WHY SHOW MALEC IS BETTER AND A PATHETIC ATTEMPT OF WRITING THOMAS

also this is why I’ll always prefer show Malec and show alec. he doesn’t have these thoughts and you actually get to see him be his own person. he’s not out here like “oh I wish I could kill a demon like jace, fight the way jace does, be as charming as jace!!!!!!” it’s almost as though CC wants as obsessed with jace the way she is. girl some of us can’t fucking stand that useless and worthless dick. and how is jace better when Alec is always saving his worthless jace? please jot that down lmao

and maybe I’m reaching and she is doing this as a way of Thomas wishing he was more charismatic BUT HE IS. I get that she has created these characters but if it’s not a herondale, CC has absolutely no fucking idea how to handle them. why does she have to go into this with “why can’t I be like Matthew or James?” why couldn’t it been more like “how can I convince Alastair to stay? how can I make him realize that what he has here is more than enough? maybe he knows I’m enough but how can I make him realize Alastair deserves this love?”

I’m just saying that it could’ve been written better. just like every chapter of CC’s stories could have been handled better lmao

I'm still pissed at Magnus for dumping Alec over the Soul Sword. Doesn't he understand that Alec, as Head of the New York Institute might be required to keep some things confidential? He can't just tell his bf everything, especially when he was asked to keep this information a secret. And what was Magnus going to do with said info if Alec had told him? Keep it to himself? Would he be able to do that? And if it gets around, gosh dad might be asking where that leak came from.

Alec was screwed either way. It was an unfair expectation on Magnus's part and every time Alec apologizes I get more irritated. Alec deserved the benefit of the doubt as the very naive but kind and loving man that he is.

Perhaps it was worth it to get 2.18 and all the nice little malec moments before Magnus crushed Alec's heart.

Just glad they worked it out later. :D

Was listening to Timeless by Taylor Swift and had a lil idea.

Alec reading through Magnus’s journal (you know the one) and at some point somewhere he stops paying attention to names and faces cause at some point, he's started seeing himself in all those stories. Him and Magnus in 1800s Peru, in Revolutionary France, in New York in the 1930s and the list goes on.

And it goes past the journal too. Everytime he sees one of Magnus’s old photographs or paintings, one of the past souvenirs Magnus has kept, everytime Magnus tells him a new story, all he hears is me and you, another place, another time.

Eventually his queasiness about Magnus’s exes just fades away, replaced by a wistful feeling of what if that were us?

The only fictional couples i obsess/fixate and think alot about are mlm and sometimes i feel bad about it because i don't wanna be someone who likes these couples for the wrong reasons.

Even though those couples are one of the biggest things that lead me to break away from homophobia (I'm middle eastern and being homophobic is the norm) because i just watched these men have so much struggle within themselves while they're falling in love with other men. So in my mind when they got together it felt more earned.

Honestly i don't know why i care more about mlm couples then i do about straight couples or even wlw (Honestly I've barely seen any wlw couples) but when i think about it i feel bad because i don't wanna be a woman (who's mostly attracted to men) who likes mlm couples because it's two men making out even though i don't think that's why i fixate on them..

any gay ship, any queer ship in any form of video game, anime, tv show, or movie where they're censored or made by homophobic ppl is so tragic.

the way they yearn to be together, which is shown by actors/voice actors/animators/writers. and, of course, we all grasp at the tiniest crumble, and the fanbases are the ones that recognize them and keep them alive- that is where the couple escapes the constraints, restrictions, and homophobia.

ex. in gi they said they will explore more same-sex couples by labeling them in game as 'best friends'. (kavetham, cynari, etc.)

so, of course, we, fanfic writers, write them as tragic, or even cursed yaoi, and yearning and all the heart-wrenching pieces because there's pain in their existence. they are our escape and something we relate to but we also offer them an escape, making them alive with our funny words and silly au's.

also some honorable mentions of good depictions of queer couples; good omens, shadowhunters (malec), our flag means death, the originals (freelin). (feel free to add more)

also, only pure hatred and disgust at the queerbaiting seen in media (I'm looking at you supernatural). furthermore, gender identities in media are a whole different issue and topic; where is the recognition overall, especially in video games, for enby's and similar?

honorable mention to bg3 for having great body options (trans friendly) and more gender options than the usual f/m.

there's also tragedy in queer characters, who fandoms depict and destroy by ignoring their sexuality, ex. yelena from marvel's black widow who is confirmed asexual. (which pains me as an aroace individual)

thus we write them as tragic and pained because, just like us, they also have to be hidden or censored, many queer ppl cannot come out due to so many varying reasons. sadly, we aren't safe everywhere and have to be careful. media is a nice escape, so I guess we can relate to our sad gays who are so much more like us than we thought at first hand.

dear writers, artists, and creators keep creating art and keep giving them life. we give them air to breathe and the hope that they give us. that is how this relationship with our favorite fictional characters transcends all bounds, we keep each other alive and comfort each other.

this rant was inspired by my mutual commenting on how homosexual my love confessing fic is (here if you're interested).

The amount of digging, stalking and over analyzing that required for yall to now say “it was obvious” and “we were right all along” is one of the reasons they never went public with their relationship before actual marriage, just like Joey Richter and Lauren Lopez getting engaged and Keith and Becky habersberger out of nowhere telling they had a baby.

I’ve been a fan of smosh for like 12 years and the shipping (yes, I know they said they don’t care, but even if they said to stop yall wouldn’t anyway) and nitpicking every single interaction between cast members (I’m not even gonna get into the fanfics and inappropriate comments) were why I kept my interaction with the fandom to a minimum.

Im happy they’re married, really. I’ve been happy for other influencers before. The issue was never denial. I did wish it was a prank because I knew this exact response was going to happen.

This feels like fans were trying to out them when they weren’t ready. If they truly felt safe making the relationship public, they wouldn’t have gone to lengths they did to hide it. Poor Courtney probably had an engagement ring that she couldn’t wear because of fan reaction. I mean, I remember seeing proof of them together through reflections on a glass! It isn’t normal.

A similar situation has happened in a fandom before. Remember when fans were speculating about a Malec wedding in the shadowhunter finale? Finding every single piece of evidence on social media, bts footage, etc? And in the ending the characters got married? But you know why that wasn’t weird? They were fictional characters, made to entertain us, with story arcs. No actual person was at stake.

And you know, I love smosh and obviously this rant isnt directed towards the fans who are just surprised and happy for them (which I am too, congrats to them), but it still bother me.

Publicly, they were coworkers in a comedy channel who made jokes, played characters, played games, etc. Smosh has never been about romantic relationships between cast members and it saddens me that the fans made most of it about shipping when they have so much more to offer.

The point is, we are not entitled to information about their lives and speculate about it. Too bad this can’t be a learning experience because congrats, yall were “right all along”.

I really do enjoy just the fun of building a fic from a single word, but I’m also happy to try and tackle any longer and more complex prompts. 

If your prompt isn’t filled the week it’s sent it, I’m still going to write it. I always respond to an ask to explain why I won’t fill it if I’m not going to.

If I can’t/wont fill a prompt, I’ll post it and explain and say it’s okay to send another.

I don’t post all of my fic fills to ao3 but I do try to do about half of them. Posting takes a lot of spoons and I generally end up adding more to the fics when I post them so it takes a bit.

I want it very clear that I do this because it’s fun and healthy for me and everyone who prompts is super sweet and I don’t do it to get feedback from prompters (but I always enjoy it)! It's really just worth it to me for the expression of shared art. Because I wouldn’t write half of the fun stories I love creating and exploring without the prompts from others to tickle my thoughts.

However, my partner and I are very protective about my mental health and I have social anxiety to the degree that I sometimes still need my handheld after strangers talk to me so I don't go rolling into a blanketball and scream.

When you just realised that in the entirety of TSC, there are only two lesbian couples (Arianna, Heline) and one of them is just a side couple, and you see Arianna in Better in Black.

And then you're sorta optimistic, 'cause now you're hoping for Heline too.

You go through the rest, and you're pleasantly surprised to find Kierarktina, Thomastair, and Sizzy too.

But then you are mentally disturbed, because you also found SEBASTIAN AND THE SEELIE QUEEN instead.

I HAVE QUESTIONS.

Why, CC, why? Is it to give context on the birth of Ash Morgenstern? Is it the Seelie Queen telling Sebastian she's pregnant? Because they definitely don't have that kind of relationship, the kind we actually ship. Better in Black's theme is love and romance, but what love and romance is there between them? They were just using each other, and Sebastian died! Is this an easter-egg story where we find out some things about TWP? Is their Better in Black story not exactly about Sebastian and the Seelie Queen at all? CC, you better not be playing with us.

Onto a slightly less bewildering topic, am I the only Malec fan who wasn't surprised to not find a story about them in Better in Black? Like HELLO, they are the TSC couple with the highest amount of content, even more than Clace. Apart from TMI, they have their own separate series, four short stories, and are included in other series as well (TDA, TWP). And the amount of ART on them is wild. So no, I am not unhappy that CC didn't include them. While I wouldn't have minded if she had either, you have to admit she was only being reasonable.

Promptlet: Malec Early Meeting

Izzy and Jace start clubbing early because Shadowhunters consider themselves adults around fourteen when they begin full mission status at the Institute. So, sixteen year old Alec just sighs and brings his Advanced Clave Law seminar work to Pandemonium and sits in the corner of the bar with a thick legal text and his battered spiral notebook for his rough draft essays. He doesn’t care if Jace and Izzy are taking field assignments, they’re still his little siblings and need a chaperone.

Magnus, obviously, starts hearing gossip from his bemused bartenders about the young nephilim downing club sodas with lime while frantically highlighting a battered copy of the Accords and decides he needs to figure out what's going on. Immediately.

So, Magnus ends up chatting with Alec (who, as it turns out, really likes the Shirley Temple Magnus snaps up for him in what was supposed to be a joke) and starts flipping through Alec's latest homework assignment. Magnus blinks, snaps up another Shirley Temple to keep Alec busy, and carefully reads the essay twice over, pulling out his own notebook (bound leather and fountain pen with a gold nib of course) halfway through. Alec found a loophole, a big loophole, that would exempt Downworlders from being questioned without notification to their faction leader. 

Alec is an absolute disaster of a baby gay whenever Magnus so much as says hello or looks in his general direction, but, once he starts arguing the Law? He is vicious and ruthless and sharply concise. (Although Magnus becomes a little bit of a disaster himself when Alec absentmindedly starts chewing on his cherry stem while debating the finer points of interpreting The Clave vs. HOTI-Beijing, 1823.)

Ragnor comes over all the way from England just to see Magnus utterly lose his cool at this now seventeen year old shadowhunter who is literally drinking Shirley Temples and eating his weight in the extra cherries the bartenders slip him because they adore him too. Also, in terms of relationship dynamics? I think it would be kind of fun to explore Alec having a gigantic crush on Magnus (and Magnus just kind of utterly adoring Alec in turn between his obvious looks and, more importantly, his intelligence and his sharp humor and just .. everything) but also realizing that Alec is seventeen.

Alec is much more open (not that he had a snowball's chance in hell of hiding his Gigantic Crush on the High Warlock from anyone in Pandemonium except his siblings), and wages what amounts to pretty much open warfare to get Magnus to date him. He's insistent that Shadowhunters don't mature as slowly as mundanes (which.. fair) and makes bulleted lists and actions plans for every reason Magnus tries to say he deserves better/Magnus is too old/Alec is too young/etc.

And.. just how the Downworlders slide a stray Shirley Temple across the table for advice? Alec starts bringing little vouchers for a certain amount of advice time (or maybe little cupcakes or chocolate chip cookies that he makes for Jace and Izzy or something?) and slides them furtively across the table.

"Where might one take the High Warlock of Brooklyn out on a date?"

And then somehow two days later Magnus ends up in Central Park responding to a call from one of his warlocks and instead Alec is waiting there with a picnic lunch and a blanket and looking very, very smug.

This teenage Shadowhunter is outsmarting him. What even is this?

Also, Can you imagine the first time an old fling of Magnus' portals in to Pandemonium for the evening, expecting a night of fun, and the moment they ask where Magnus is at the bar, every Downworlder in hearing distance is glaring? Suddenly a good dozen wolves and vampires put aside their decades old fights and start running interference to keep this brazen interloper away from where Alec is holding court ranting about the Clave's shoddy grammar and lack of consistent position on Oxford commas (which, how dare) and how that can be used to interpret their latest ruling in three different ways, depending on what side you want to fight on.

(Magnus is sighing and staring dreamily from across the table.)

One day, Camille starts her usual nastiness and trying to get Magnus to come crawling back and Magnus feels .. nothing for her. The only thing Magnus feels is rage that Camille would try to interfere when he's clearly ... dating someone now.

And Magnus blinks wildly internally because holy shit he's dating Alec. WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN MAGNUS DOES NOT KNOW

I do think Magnus would hold off on anything physical until Alec was what Magnus considered of age, so think how fun it would be to explore how the two of them date when their primary love language can't include sex?

Think of all the cuddles and the literal sleeping together and the hand holding and the forehead kisses and, excuse me but did I mention the cuddles? I really want Magnus and Alec cuddling on Magnus' throne at Pandemonium after a hard patrol and Alec falling asleep and all the Downworlders just kind of cooing at their very favorite nephilim.

(I also imagine an impressively oblivious pair of siblings who don't realize their brother isn't just moping in a corner while they dance for literal years.)

When Alec is older maybe Jace and Izzy start trying to subtly tell him it's okay to be gay, he doesn't have to hide it - they'll still love him, and Alec is just .. like .... 'what are you talking about?' as he smugly claims his gorgeous boyfriend.
