Some doodles/quick sketch of the ocs i make (well i was thinking i might do a movie or comics at the future cause dang it was hard but ehh) anyways..This are some of"The Darkeners" or "The Dark Ones" which they all live in a dark world and can sometimes enter the world of light or hopeland. •Monster Blanket or Blanky for short.

Silly name for a monster right? Well...i feel bad for peeps who love to wrap themselves in the warm blankets. Cause you never know that was him. He is the younger brother of the Boogeyman. And he literally love to diguise himself as normal blanket then started eating peeps if he was hungry but if not he scared peeps to death (well mostly kids). He also have sharp thin claws and big yellow eyes and some visible sharp shadowy teeths that also appears when he show himself. He is a big boi. He can also change his blanket color to have a perfect diguise of a normal blankets of peeps. He belongs to dark world and sometimes travels in human world to go for scare hunt well at least his brother Boogey is not worst as him

•Dark Elves⚫🧝‍♂️🧝‍♀️

I just draw one cause there's so many of them. They are taller than normal elves normal elves average height is 2-3ft while them is 4-5ft. They have palish skin and almost all of them have scars cause they love fighting and a rough ones. Also they have pure black pitch eyes and wear such dark amors or leather armors (this proves they hunt other animals yeshh). They also have spiky helmets and sharp black claws. They all have different styles of outfit and claws and teeths, speaking of teeth, they also have sharp teeths and some are crooked (yup some of them don't know what is brush your teeth at all Toothfairy will be so disappointed at them reason why they hate them too). They love meats and drink alcoholic beverages

Also Females and Males have differences too. Females are thinner and faster and love to wear leather skirts and also use animal bones (or someone's) as their acessories. Males some of them can be well a stubby one (short and chubby) but some have normal weight and thinner they are stronger than normal elves and much wilder and rougher and also they love a beers/whines etc.. so much. Males also the one who build houses and make deadly weapons Males are crazier and more on killing machine. Females are meaner

They all belong to the dark world and belong to Krampus's domain (yes the evil demon goat santa one). And oh! They also make dark toys which is a very deadly one.

Ahh yes the King Of Lust, The Demon of Lust, Love- ya know what? just don't come near at him. He will do anything to get you on him. He is always onto well...18+ stuffs. He also a yandere one he can kill ya and obssessed with ya if he didn't get what he wanted or to be desired in love then you will be a goner. He can be also a Pansexual. He also go into the human world to date peeps. His eyes changes color green to reddish pink. He also have a very charming and smooth voice. Also when you look at his eyes you be hypnotized and force to have love with him. His true form is a big humanoid goat boi. He lives in hell which also can be found deep in the dark world. He can be found at 3rd pathway of hell which aka as 3rd ring.

Sandman aka Blickfang👁🦉🗡

His real name is Coppelius (yeah he is literally based off on ETA Hoffmann's Sandman which a dark one not the dream giver one) He appears as humanoid creature, he has palish skin, a little bit thin, wear dirty green olive cloaks and clothings, stripe socks and some black leather shoes, he also have long white ash hair, golden yellow eyes (black pitch if he reveals his true form), have pointy ears, torn up gloves, have a black belt strap with golden outlines and designs and have golden eye buckle (some confuse if it was part of his or not) and also have some sanddust (probably use for taking eyes), some ancient knife, hourglass, he sometimes also carries a large sack (probably full of people's eyes and meteronomes) he also have metronomes ticking in different speed (yike just run when you hear one).

He's an evilcounter part of Ole Lukoie aka The Sandman or Mr Sandman (which based off on Hans Christian the dream giver one). And he's taller than him he is 7 footer one (with his true form he is even more taller well ya know owls:^). His true form are owl monster (reason why sometimes he acts like an owl or hissing and make such unusual noises) He appear as humanoid owl creature he has black eyes and longer eyebrows and have owl feather on his body parts fingerless gloves are his claws.Yup he is a scary ass owl man.

He has offsprings owlettes in the darkside of cresent moon cause that's where his domain and nest is,his wife was still unknown, when you sleepless he visits you or even force you to be awake in your sleep with some loud and strange noises he making and then throws or blew a sanddust in your eye to literally put you to forever sleep aka dead boi :^ . Well, when that happens it was well...bloody mess, nightmarish, traumatizing scene. His purpose tooking eyes of people is to feed his offsprings or his to be his food. When he is not satisfied he can go to flesh (yikes :<). He also very protective to his young ones. He used mostly his true form on his domain. Oh! he's older than Ole btw.

He only appears at cresent moon time reason why Ole always observe it and be alert so that he can protect people from him. Some believe he hates it but not really he just worries when it has darkest shadow. Ole was like the Santa who mostly loved by children and Coppelius is like Krampus who mostly feared by children. And Coppeliuse always have creepy smile and small pupils. He also have supernatural abilities

•Black Bishop [Chess Piece] ♟

All of the Chess Pieces has hidden monstrous mouth (purpose? well..for literally eating their opponents) Black ones are worser than the Whites. All black chess live in a dark world (obviously). While White ones lives beyond the heavenly gates. They can move in anyways or normally as others.

Anyways, Black Bishop, wears hooded black robe with golden eye symbols and his robe have crimson red outlines and he has pointy ears and palish skin and more sharper long teeth once hebwill eat you. He act kind at 1st has role of an untruthful prophets, he is more darker and more faker than White Bishop. He is very merciless one and also have sin of lust. He also do blood sacrifices and stuffs. He also an ambusher and a sniper and can be the Black Queen's assassin. He has a nickname of "Headshooter" Cause he love to headshot his target. Yez, he is a type of piece who always keep deadly weapons that includes the strongest guns. He has a staff which is also contains dark magic also can turn into spear when it lands it explodes and resummoned in his hand. His eyes also have some blindfold or bandages cause without it you'll be traumatized. He also a tall boi he is 10footer one. He is truly Evil one. His location can be found at the Dark Castle underground. He also have supernatural powers

•Ghost Of Yet To Come (Future💀)

Same clothes, Same look, Same stuffs with Death himself but they are totally different. Death was the brother of Ole and yeah he took souls and tell such stories too but only two kinds one is good and one is bad. Anyways, Future here appeared to be an enormous dark entity he is 15 foot fall hooded figure. His face can be barely see. But when his face appeared he is palish man with pure white eyes and sometimes his face can be turn into skull. He love to scared to death someone who never learn to their place like what he did to Scrooge. He is the middle brother of Past and Present. He also very protective to them. He lives in the darkworld but sometimes escaping there to be with his brothers. He is far different to dark ones. Well he still have dark behaviour and have a dark sense of humor. But he is very kind one he just being scary and tend to harm other so that they can be good. He never speaks (well for others) or do a lot of sign languages. Only his brothers can hear him talk and a few fellows. He also never makes such expressions just death staring ya. So yeah if you are a mortal or some soul 1st time meeting him you never know if he just staring at you or talking to ya. He has a power of Umbrakenisis and other supernatural powers

Take Hogfather: the auditors, veings hellbent on maling the universe orderly, hire an assasin to kill santa claus, he does so vy stealing the teeth fron the toothfairy - who is a boogeyman, to make the children no longer believe in santa. As a sideeffect, the now surplus belief is making random creatures pop into existence which is a sideplot with the wizard universiry. Death (big skeleton-version) takes santa's place and sends his granddaughter (mary poppins version) to stop the assasin. Because humans without the capacity for believe seize to be human and santa is the stepping stobe for belief in mercy or justice.

The author is Terry Pratchett, they're fantasy with the best type of British humour. Read them in English rather than translated

i have such a profound hate for stories that go 'what if just some guy like literally just some guy was thrown into these horrible circumstances with huge stakes' and then take it back and go 'haha he is not just some guy, he's the specialest little boy in the planet, last in a long line of specialest little boys, it was in his blood all along'

Black Abuse Victims & Issues with Portraying Nonviolence as superior

So I’m writing the story for a video game for a class project. There are barely any people of color in my class (or my uni for that matter), in case that’s relevant. The premise is that a child is trapped in a German inspired fairy tale. The tooth fairy is evil and trying to kill their parents.

Now, the characters are all unnamed but here’s the gist: Grandma is a German immigrant. Father is her son and he’s white. Mother is black. And Child is never gendered and is biracial. The Father is abusive towards Mother and he ends up actually being the Toothfairy from Child’s nightmare.

I know that there is a double dynamic of power here: male abusing female, white abusing black. I am clearly portraying the father as the villain. The mother is a mentor throughout the game and encourages the child (who the player controls) to choose nonviolence throughout the game. Depending on the way the player navigates the game, Child will either kill Father or cast him out of the family and the house. Grandmother and Mother will end up raising Child together.

I hope this isn’t offensive, I’m pretty sure it’s not, but I wanted to get a second opinion. If I messed up, I would like to know how I could fix it. Thank you for everything. You all are amazing here and I’ve learned so much from following this blog.

Your problem isn’t as much a racial problem as it is a problem showing nonviolence as the “preferred” method, along with having the victim suggest that. This seems to come from a couple of confusions:

1- Niceness vs kindness, and where both fit on morality

2- How nonviolence actually works as a tactic

Niceness Vs. Kindness 

A lot of people conflate niceness vs kindness, thinking they’re the same, but they have wildly different roots: niceness comes from fear, while kindness comes from love. In the context of abuse, niceness is thinking “if I don’t do xyz they won’t hurt me”, while kindness is thinking “I will not hurt this person back because they are a person and should not be hurt, but I will also avoid being with a person who hurts me and take action to protect myself.”

Niceness means you don’t protest, you don’t make waves, you don’t do anything that draws ire. Kindness means you insist on being treated the way you should be because you are a person and exists. This can mean living by the rules of the more privileged group, while also not hitting back when you are hit for defying “your place.”

Kindness can also be illegally writing visas, throwing a tear gas grenade away from other people, being the face of a resistance movement, or a whole host of other things that are generally not considered “nice” or “moral.” People say they would consider those acts moral when they are passed, but how people are treated for taking those acts in the present day indicates otherwise.

Nice, meanwhile, can be very amoral. It can mean looking away when others are hurt because you don’t want to rock the boat. It can mean not standing your ground and backing away from threats even when you’re in the right because your side is the one where people aren’t getting killed for who they are. It means going with the flow even when that flow is going to bring nothing but pain.

So, just from that principle alone, you can see how easy it can be to twist around nonviolence into passivity, and into taking whatever you’re given no matter how terrible it is. This ties very closely to the “ideal victim” stereotype, where they don’t fight back because they’re such nice people, they’re taking moral high ground by never ever ever fighting or going against the grain… when the very nature of escaping means you have to break rules, somewhere.

Ideal victims often leave real victims feeling alienated, because of this lack of rule breaking. 

There’s also no justification for how you treat your abuser after— stonewalling them has people tell you to show them more compassion and give them a chance; giving them a chance and getting hurt again has people tell you it was your fault for getting involved with them again; getting revenge against them is seen as cruel (I’m talking within the grounds of exposing their behaviour and causing them to lose something to face consequences); not getting revenge is seen as not valuing yourself. It’s a no-win situation for victims.

As you can see, the whole concept that the victim of abuse preaches nonviolence is… tricky to handle at best, outright toxic at worst. I know Undertale recently popularized the concept of mercy, but it also treats all options as equal. 

There is lots of exploring how your actions affect others, but other than that, the game doesn’t really guide you along from a word of god. By having a Black woman be that word of god, you’re reinforcing things like the strong black woman as abuse victim, which you can read about in the post [Victimized & Abused Black Female Character]. 

Nonviolence as a Tactic 

Which brings me onto nonviolence itself. The tactic isn’t as broad as it seems, and actually isn’t applicable in all situations. Nonviolence— especially as popularized in living memory— comes directly from visual media becoming widespread.

The Civil Rights Movement was so successful long term because it was using tactics purposely meant to be appeals to the public. When you have white-controlled media, no social media, but also have tv in the majority of homes with extremely high viewership… suddenly you have an environment where you can document the brutality that occurs while existing and gain sympathy by not fighting back.

This utterly divided white people because some of them were now able to see that Black people were targeted unfairly, and they weren’t deserving of it because they weren’t fighting back. Others, however, conflated kindness with niceness, and instead of seeing protesters as being kind to themselves by living along equal rules, they saw them as being not nice and deserving of the punishment they received because they broke the law.

Nonviolence in the Civil Rights Movement was 100% public relations, and it worked. Now that it’s “history” (in the form of being taught in history class, not that things are better), people use it as an example of “good protesters.” People think that they were just existing and it was a good thing they didn’t fight back and they just performed the way good victims were supposed to, and those good victims were rewarded by having the law changed.

Nope, sorry, the Civil Rights Movement caused just as many if not more problems than groups like Black Lives Matter because the Civil Rights Movement was built on being a public display of inequality for over a decade (1954-1968). It was a highly organized, highly trained group of activists who went through months of training to be public displays of inequality, and it didn’t come without risk. The Southern Poverty Law Centre has a [Memorial Page for Murdered Activists] for a reason. 

Alternative Tactics to Non-Violence

Other groups, such as the Black Panthers, used just as legal but less white-focused means in their activism, and they were just as effective for protecting those they wanted to protect. Because of this choice, modern society kind of hates them and polarizes the “good” marches and sit ins vs the “bad” patrolling neighbourhoods with guns to fight back should police get brutal. But, at the time, both the Civil Rights Movement and the Black Panther Party were under investigation by the CIA and FBI. It’s plain and simple the fact the Civil Rights Movement was based on PR that it’s remembered as fondly as it is, which was its intent in the first place.

Even within an abuse context, not fighting back is often more for your own public image than any sort of moral choice (although individual ethics can play a huge role in not getting revenge, but that’s a personal choice for every victim). Because of the aforementioned no cultural support for anything but passively letting abuse happen and waiting for an appropriate time when the stars align and you don’t have to do anything to get out of an abuser’s thumb, it can be impossible to take any action against an abuser (even blocking them is seen as “too much” by general society, and you have to justify they were really that bad). 

In Summary

These two factors combined make us iffy about your plot. You have a Black woman abuse victim preaching a “turn the other cheek” mentality as the supposedly moral way, without a visible sense that in context, “turn the other cheek” means “force your oppressor to see you as an equal because you could only strike servants a certain way, and slapping them on the other cheek meant they were no longer a servant.”

i have too much background information for my characters so here’s a bit more stuf on jess and rossi’s relationship

jess’s foster mom, josephine, used to work for the BAU in the 80′s. She was a single mother, with a son Jess’s age, and grew up, largely, in a low socio-economic area. Rossi often made fun of her made jokes about it, which frustrated her to no end. Josephine faught tooth and nail to get Jess, Michael and Nick to live with her. Gideon backed her up, stepping in when the courts said she needed a male partner. (He didn’t do anything other than sign the paperwork and turn up if Josephine asked). Josephine did 2 weeks at the BAU with 4 kids at home (Jess was not a good child) and Rossi made an off hand comment, so Josephine handed in her resignation.

Gideon visits all the time because Jess likes to listen about birds. Also because he’s soft on kids he’s saved from bad guys. 

Rossi was the first person on the scene during both of Jess’s mom’s arrests (at age 8 and 11) and while she, logically, knows it’s wrong, she does associate him with being removed from her. Doesn’t matter that Jess knows her mom was a bad mom etc she’s still salty about it.

Rossi is barely in contact until Jess’s 15th birthday, he turns up to the party and hangs at the back. Gives her an expensive present that mysteriously disappears. When she’s 17 Ross gets in contact again--he’s working a case and needs some feet on the ground.

He pays Jess like 50 bucks a day so she says yes, and at 17 she works under cover in a prostitution ring. (Undercover, meaning she used her birth name and had no affiliation with the FBI at all, and gets injured during the FBI raid). Rossi then argues that she can be a valuable undercover agent when she turns 18 (he also gets repremanded and takes 18 months off work). (And she does go undercover at 18).

So they have a ~rocky~ relationship and Jess brings it all up every time she gets pissed at him. It’s all 100% the reason she says “you don’t get to ruin Mia’s life like you ruined mine” during the toothfairy arc.
