Here's an old and janky art piece from a long time ago. This selfship art with Makoto dates all the way back to May 2023, only a month before I opened my first, albeit anti aligned tumblr. It is now January 2025, and not only have my art skills improved, but so have my views, as I am now proship and happy and satisified with my choice to.

But let's talk about the art. It uses a random photo as the background, more precisely Songen-Jaya or something like that. The proportions are also very whack and outdated, especially by early 2024 standards. Not to mention neckless. Will I do a 2025 redraw of this? Only time will tell.

Hello everyone and happy 2025! I spent the end of 2024/beginning of 2025 finally reading some good fucking fic, so I am glad to report that this is a long post :D

There's so much fic. I mostly (mostly!) read oneshots from under 10K, and I am also happy because I have read from multiple fandoms.

I am back on my Persona bullshit after playing Persona 3 Reload: Episode Aigis - The Answer since I got it for Christmas. Gosh, this game is absolutely heartbreaking and I keep aching all over and FANFIC CONTRIBUTES TO THAT! The looming tragedy that hangs over S.E.E.S.... oh MAN.

I read what we leave behind by @sunkitty143 and I cried so hard my pillow was damp. Maybe shouldn't have read it at 2am. God, it is so good and heartbreaking, especially as a reader who knows what the fuck is going on. Thinking about the three months that Makoto got is painful and my heart aches. And then I couldn't sleep and read sunkitty's other works.

stepping up to the plate is amazingly funny from Ken's perspective. A fun day with Junpei-san indeed! But damn, Junpei... and Makoto haunting the narrative. Makoto keeps getting younger and younger in Junpei's eyes. "Because maybe Sanada could've been here, and maybe Amada will always wish that Makoto was the one here, but Junpei is the one here." BRO?

the heart of self-defense is a great exploration of Akihiko's mindset and yes it is insane how much Miki hangs over this, but it takes 8k for her name to be dropped. And then Shinji dies. MAN, Akihiko.... "I don't really like fire either" YOOOOO? God, Persona 3 keeps breaking my heart, huh? This fic has a lot of hard hitting lines and some unexpected deep Makoto lore, but MAN.

last december is the one I skimmed over, kinda, because I only have one hour in Portable, so I haven't really met Kotone yet but I was so intruiged and yeah it's good. I will probably come back to it after I finish Portable.... one day.... but we all need Yukari calling someone a liar every now and then.

I reread what we leave behind, uh, 6 times (and yes, I will leave an AO3 comment.... one day.... when I have processed it), and decided that I should also read the gift of giving by atracoes. It is definitely... happier than what we leave behind, despite it taking place in December which is DECEMBER, but again, the looming threat of what happens in March hangs over it and it makes it so painful and gorgeous to read at the same time. I love how Makoto is just there for Ken and I like reading how much effort Ken puts into everything.

I kept riding the angst train and read Botamochi and Purge by ToxicPineapple because I was down for some Akihiko angst and also, well, grief is unfortunately a thing that is apparent in my life right now and sometimes reading about other characters grieving helps in a way. It IS insane how the world doesn't end when someone you love leaves it.

Wooh. Persona 3 truly loves its theme of death, huh?

That is Persona for now. Time for some cute shit! There are festive challenges all around in December and I still haven't read all that I want to read, but I have finally gotten around to some of the Klaine Secret Santa fics.

Awards Show from @spaceorphan18 was really good and I like that Kurt and Blaine are already in a relationship. I love a good meet-cute as much as the next person, but established relationship is the shit. Kurt and Blaine need to navigate fame and their love.

Speaking of a good meet-cute, Blind(sided) Date by @cryscendo was a nice surprise, since I actually am not too fond on blind dates, but I am happy that here Kurt got around to the idea even before meeting Blaine, so that it's not all like "oh ew do I have to do this?". Elliott, you sneaky, sneaky man!

And another trope that I cannot get enough of is friends to lovers, and also "and they were roommates!", so Operation Christmas Cheer-Up by @special-bc-ur-part-of-it was super duper cute. Blaine is such a great friend and it is just neat to see how it slowly blossoms into more.

The summary of From the Heart by @you-remind-me-of-the-babe immediately grabbed my attention! A Secret santa in a secret Santa-esque fic? Secret Santa inception! I like how Baz is trying so damn hard, and how that makes Simon realise that there could be more than a truce.

@martsonmars wrote a cute rivalry fic called always the time of the year where Simon and Baz, who are besties, are rivals in a Christmas market. I really REALLY like the friendship here and how the rivalry plays out, especially since there was an unexpected hiccup for Simon.

And lastly, Torchwood! Last year I read a fic where Ianto and Jack sort-of-accidentally get a kid called Lowri and I liked it a lot, but I never knew that Lottiethroughthelookingglass wrote a Christmas sequel called Good Tidings to it. Rhiannon asks Ianto to come over for Christmas, which means Ianto has to explain that he suddenly has a kid and that he's raising her with another man. There was some angst to it and the threat of CoE hangs over them, but it was still sweet and I like this lil family and the supportive aunt Rhiannon.

And lastly, in non-fic world: I read 1989 by George Orwell (finally!) and a book on the mining history of the south of the Netherlands.

Outro: the End of the Lofi Bag Saga

After like 5 months of posting, the main story for the Lofi Bag AU has come to an end! To celebrate, I decided to make this lil' behind the scenes post thingy!

The Power of Asks

So when I made the intro post for the AU a few months ago, I mentioned that asks would have some sort of effect on the story. And they did! Also @ruinationz introducing her AU bag man into the AU ended up having an effect on the story as well. With that introduction in mind I had to adjust a few things (I'll get to that in a bit), with one of those things being how interactions with Reverse would affect the AU.

I had 3 endings in mind for the AU:

Good ending (the canon one) - Positive asks received by the musical bag man would positively affect him and he'd end up changing his life for the better. The downward spiral we see the canon bag man go down is averted AND the story gets an epilogue. That's right guys! There will be an epilogue! So it isn't completely joever for Lofi!

Neutral ending - If the musical bag man ended up getting little to no interactions of any kind then he'd kinda just stay how he was in the beginning.

Bad ending - Negative asks and/or Reverse attempting to kill Lofi would have ended up in Lofi going down a similar path to canon except instead of like killing he stalks specific people he sees down in the dumps, eventually gives them a plastic bag full of eggplant flowers (which are poisonous to humans if they eat them!) and, if that person doesn't end up killing themselves with said flowers, honeysuckle flowers. After that he stops stalking them. The specific condition of Reverse attempting to kill Lofi is hella random but those two are pretty damn close and you know Lofi has trauma from having to see both his sister drown and the woman he wanted to propose to get shot. Being almost killed by his closest friend would have definitely pushed him over the edge.

AU Crossovers

So like I mentioned beforehand, I had to adjust a few things due to the introduction of @ruinationz's Reverse Smileman. Also because I introduced the Doll Woman (from another Emio AU I have) I needed to figure out how to explain that cuz Reverse is also around.

Lofi's character is a combo between those posts from the fake Emio twitter account before the AI experiment reveal and of course canon so I didn't have to change too much for him. It was Felix that needed more changing if anything. I decided to not have any of his family members named so it isn't like somehow him and Reverse!Makoto have family members who so happen to have the same names and whatever. As for the Doll Woman in LB AU? Copycat. The Doll Woman in the LB AU faces similar issues to the actual one and is aware of the original Doll Woman and her crimes which did happen in this AU. LB AU Doll Woman (the copycat) is only starting off with her crimes against humanity (so she's like 25 in LB AU) and has a body count of two.

Epilogue and the Future of Lofi Bag

The epilogue will happen eventually (idk when but it'll be at some point in 2025 that's for sure). Asks won't have the likelihood of changing the ending after the end of the main story. Basically it's just Lofi talking about his new life now that he's moved out of Corrine's old apartment and has a job. Maybe he finds out about Reverse murkin' people idk depends on what Flippy wants to do (I'd imagine he'd find out after Reverse is sent to a mental facility) (this would probably be the only exception to the ask rule thing I mentioned before.) I might have like a few more tracks made for the epilogue but I'm still thinking about that. But one thing's for sure it won't be as traumatizing as Emio's bonus chapter lmfaooo

As for what will happen to the blog after the epilogue? I'll leave asks open over there if you guys want to send in anything but other than that I probably might not be posting as much over there. Like maybe every once and a while I'll post something like I do with Felix's posts but the plan is to slow things down a bit. If Flippy is still doing her Reverse Smileman blog then I'll do some interactions with that blog as Lofi too I guess.

Bonus Stuff

Lofi is supposed to be 28 years old in the AU (the concert incident happened when he was 25)

"So if Lofi had his name legally changed to Emio what's his last name?" Honestly I never thought of like an actual last name for him but he did have his last name changed as well. Jokingly I've been using Emio Brightside as his full name but that isn't his actual full name. Y'all can still call him that tho cause I mean come on it's funny.

"Why are the earliest posts in the blog kinda out of character? And what's up with the screaming audio thing?" For the most part I was trying to find my footing with Lofi in the earlier posts and try to figure out his character. As for the screaming track it was based off of that one twitter space from the fake twitter. Tbh idk why I posted that track multiple times but at least I stopped.

Even though I had to adjust a few things because of this, Flippy introducing Reverse into the AU was actually kinda beneficial for the AU! After the introduction, I had somebody other than myself to bounce ideas off of!

Entering My True Magical Gurl Era in Meh 20s ✨

✨Rambles of someone who just watched some episodes of Sailor Moon✨

Since the summer of 2024, I've begun to host a thing called Magical Girl Mondays in a server I'm in. I wanted to finally start, continue, and finish magical girl shows that I have been seeing for years.

I feel like some people might think, when they first meet me, that I have watched a handful of magical girl shows cause of my vibes I guess, but to be honest I've barely started a lot and rarely finished any x-x I think I have finished about 3ish in my life off the top of my short term memory head. I also just start a lot (as I am with many shows). BUT NOW I wanna hold myself accountable and watching shows with others is a great way to do that.

The first show we are watching is the famous og Sailor Moon 🌙 I've started it when I was younger, but barely got past episode 10 I think x-x But now that I am finally getting through the episodes I feel so GIDDY AAAGHHHH-

(Also right now we are calling Magical Girl Mondays -> Sailor Moonday heheh) Today we watched episode 32 through 37 and I just had goosebumps the entire time. It's been so awesome not only seeing where many gifs and memes of Sailor Moon has come from, but how the little scenes and random information I have come across through the interwebs are finally coming together. Even though I may assume what may be coming with each episode, it's still so cool and even emotional for me when cool plot points are revealed. AAGHHHH.

Since entering my adulthood and becoming more busy with school (I just finished school a couple of months ago), work (both personal and not), and other stuff that makes me busy and my brain more tired- it's been SOOOO HAARRDDD to have the energy and motivation to not only consume entertainment I love, but also react so strongly to it. The goosebumps I've mentioned earlier, I don't get those as often nowadays. Getting emotional like I did watching Sailor Moon lately isn't something I experience as often and it makes me so happy (and kinda hopeful) now that I do. I can't imagine what people who watched the series consistently when they were younger felt like, and how they feel watching crystal now and reading the manga and stuff.

I can't wait to watch other magical girl shows. I can't wait to watch more shoujo in general to be honest. I think the the fact that it's shoujo is why it's hitting me different compared to me watching/reading something shonen. Just now thought of that. I also really can't wait to consume more josei too, that'll probably a big 2025 goal for me cause I'M READY. Reminds me that I gotta continue watching Nana... 😭

October 2024 - An Amazing Month for Manga

Hey everyone, I've been out and about this whole month because of manga-related events.

I got a chance to check out Kodansha House, the pop-up experience that was in my home of NYC. And it was everything I hoped for. There was a lot of display of art from series like Akira, Initial D, Attack on Titan, Vinland Saga, Witch Hat Atelier, The Flowers of Evil, and Blue Period.

Not only that, there were goodies on sale, a bubble tea pop-up, 2 Initial D: Arcade Stage cabinets, a manga library full of Kodansha titles to read, and a 2nd floor for events with free concessions.

I got a chance to watch the Blue Lock: Episode Nagi movie to celebrate the launch of the manga spinoff in the U.S.. It's a nice change of perspective and it definitely pleased fans of Reo Mikage x Seishiro Nagi. The English voice for Yoichi Isagi, Ricco Fajardo, was also in attendance and did a Q&A about what he loves about Blue Lock and voice acting in general.

Before New York Comic-Con happened, I went to the Anitomo Manga Matsuri at the 53rd Street New York Public library and attended a manga publishers panel. Representatives from Viz Media, Yen Press, Square Enix and Kodansha all recommended titles worth reading in shonen, shojo, LGBT+, horror, series with anime tie-ins, and Spring 2025 picks. There's a lot of titles worth reading and I can't name all of them here. But popular titles like The Summer Hikaru Died, The Guy She Was Interested In Wasn't Really a Guy at All, Kagurabachi, Frieren: Beyond Journey's End, Blue Lock: Episode Nagi, The Apothecary Diaries, The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity, and Dragon and Chameleon were featured.

There was some online commentary about The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity being listed as a shojo (it's published in a shonen magazine) and someone at the panel did raise a point about a neglected manga genre that still hasn't received its great moment yet (I might get to this in a future post). All in all, I enjoyed the intimacy of this panel as there wasn't a large crowd and everyone immediately felt the energy of talking about manga with experts that know it well.

And while I didn't go to New York Comic-Con, I did hear that anime and manga was front and center still despite major comic publishers not being at the event. A lot of the buzz came from Japanese-related businesses, so it's nice to hear.

Finally, I got a chance to see Makoto Yukimura of Vinland Saga fame. What a guy. I remember when Vinland Saga was first licensed here in 2013, not many people gave it a chance. Kodansha USA representatives at the time said the manga was struggling sales-wise and were relying on buzz to get new volumes published. Then an anime adaptation finally came 14 years after the Japanese manga debut and fans finally saw how great the series was. Yukimura was very chill and hilarious. He said he strives to be like Thorfinn as best he can. I got a chance to tell him that my favorite character is Hild an I'm looking forward to seeing how Yukimura ends the manga because the endgame is not too far.

Anyway, October was fun. I hope there's more Kodansha House events in the future in other places. Other North American metropolitan areas deserve a pop-up experience like Kodansha provided. It's an intimate setting for a community of fans that continue to demand the best from manga publishing folks. Everyone looked to have a great time, whether it was riding Kaneda's famous bike to dressing up as a Titan lording over a town to playing Initial D to reading manga.

I'll say this - despite manga sales not as high as they once were during COVID, manga is here to stay. We're still in a golden age of manga here. Enjoy it while we still can!

Cis Rambles #12--2024 Accomplishments

It's been a hot second since I've written on here! First of all, Happy New Year! 2025! Wild Stuff!!

As this is my personal dumping ground of creativeness and personalness, I wanted to share some accomplishments from last year!

✮Personal✮

Health wise, the hormones are finally working!! My PCOS symptoms are finally becoming more manageable! I'm not bone tired randomly, my skin is getting clearer, and I feel much better in general! In November I hit 1 year of taking hormone pills, and I'm happy that I'm seeing a positive change!

I've been doing some research lately and found out that I actually have a lot of symptoms of high functioning autism recently as well. As I'm not officially tested, I'm only saying that I share a lot of the main symptoms. While it explains some things, I'd have to get a professional opinion.

Along with that I had some thoughts on my identity and I'll make a fun little post about that later~ I wanted to draw some art to celebrate. I've done little hints at how I identify to the world, but I finally feel strong enough to share this part of me properly. I am nervous and excited.

Lastly, I've mentioned before that I've mourning the sudden passing of my dad. This year will make four years, and while I know I will never be 100% whole again, at the end of last year I finally felt stronger to live for myself. I felt bound by a promise I made to him while he was still around. I let this promise consume me to a point where I forgot to take care of myself. The past few months I took care of myself, and I think I can keep my promise while making sure I'm okay.

I also read Dear Gene, which is probably not only one of the greatest BL stories I've read, but one of the greatest stories period. It totally ruined other literature for me. I started reading The Three Musketeers and I kept thinking, "I love this story but it's not Dear Gene..." LOL

✮Streaming✮

I streamed kinda consistently for at least three months! (I'm making a big guess based off my steam wrapped lol) Those streams were really fun. When I think of streaming, I think of what I heard a comedian say about doing standup (I unfortunately don't remember who said this, I'm sorry to this person)--'If you do a standup set, and you completely fail, and you still want to do standup, you're meant to be a comedian." I feel like that thinking is the same for streaming. I know for sure there were streams where there was no one there, but I was having the time of my life and planning streams like I was a bigtime streamer.

During those months, I thought hard about my branding and while I love what I commissioned, I can see where my novice in streaming showed in the ideas I had. Because streaming is so saturated, you have to set yourself a part somehow. While I do think I was different in some ways, I think I was also a bit too scared to be out of the box with what I wanted to do.

With that in mind, I wanted to create a fun interactive-ish story for people to enter with my streams. Instead of doing a lore video, I thought of doing a lore visual novel. Well really, a kinetic story, but still! One major accomplishment was completing the main story. The extras are almost done, but main content is drafted and just needs some edits!

I also started watching some renpy videos to get a grasp on things.

Another thing I noticed when I was going over what needed to be changed was my darling streaming child Lunar. I liked her design, but I feel like it wasn't doing enough. I felt like I could push her to a stronger character visually. And through Goldbullet's community post in hopes of getting featured, I redesigned my girl!

Wow!! Dramatic change!!! I'll go through the design changes later, but the biggest one is she's not just a cat girl based off of a domestic cat! She's based off a caracal now! She's also more of a gyaru now, which is actually something I've written in her background for a while, but now it's in full effect!!

According to my steam wrapped (is that the official name? i don't remember anymore...), I played 69 games last year (nice). I mean it was nice until it became a burden I had to bear due to the fact that I wanted it to stay at 69 so I couldn't play any new games for several weeks. Luckily I'm addicted to Galaxy Burger so we're good.

This year, I fell massively in love with Indie Games. I love them so much. Sometimes the big name studios just don't really make games that just hit that little spot in your brain. Indie games have been scratching the little itch that big name studio games we missing.

Day 6: Birthday!

Happy Birthday, Makoto Kagutsuchi!! 🎭

As a Makoto fan who has loved drawing several of him over the past few months, I would like to pay tribute to this great, well-written character.

I had said other ideas for a birthday drawing for him, I was thinking about doing the in-game version of him and the pre-game version together, but then I thought: "I've already done things from his past self, And the existence of the Failed experiment Au is precisely to explore his pre-game side, so let's think about the future!"

The idea of the mirror is simple: I saw a Japanese user on twitter/x saying about Makoto not having mirrors at home, and even drawing a picture of him breaking a mirror because he had trouble looking at himself. The post game or just future version, would have overcome this with the help of treatment, and would start to look in the mirror and no longer see a reflection of his original self, but rather, himself as his own person.

The drawing could also be a scene of him going on vacation with Yuma and the others, Spending his birthday with the people he loves, he would have started to see his birthday as something good. Basically, happy ending for him.

Also, the yellow paper there on the mirror is a message from everyone who loves him, including you.

So hedge funds are rushing into the crypto market, but the development of Catalyst suggests that hedge funds can’t just jump into trading, they must back test and simulate trading strategies before entering the markets. Can you shed some light on this issue? Guy: It is important to understand the history of equity markets to understand how the crypto markets will evolve. Fifteen years ago, financial markets were less sophisticated, and you had traders on every floor. Traders bought stocks and they did some re-balancing from time to time. That was pretty much it. Now, computers and machine learning process the data and execute trades, not traders. Hedge funds in the financial markets today predominantly use algorithms and quantitative trading. We are going to see the crypto markets evolve in that same direction, but crypto will evolve 10 times faster than the way it did in the traditional equity markets. Wall Street and Crypto: Hedge Funds have their sights dead set on crypto Time Frame for a Hedge Fund to Enter Crypto Marcel: What does the time frame look for a hedge fund that tries to get into crypto trading using AI and bot trading? Guy: That depends. So if hedge funds want to build their own platform so that they can back test trading strategies and all that, it takes 3 months to get something basic off the ground. If hedge funds traded crypto like how they traded traditional financial markets 15 years ago, it would be instantaneous. But old school is not the way most hedge funds work today. Our platform, Catalyst is meant to help hedge funds save all that time of aggregating data. So hedge funds download Catalyst, install it, simulate trading, get results within minutes and can immediately run live trading. The most time consuming part of the process would be for the hedge fund to develop trading strategies, but that is what the hedge funds are for, figuring out effective trading strategies. Marcel: Back in the day you used to be able to manually arbitrage coins across different exchanges. When automated bot trading came, it made it almost impossible for retail investors to do this. How do you think AI and automated bot trading will change the crypto markets for retail investors? Guy Zyskind, CEO of Engima Guy: It’s good and bad. Quantitative and high frequency trading has done wonders in providing liquidity for the equity markets. One of the biggest problems with the crypto markets today is that it is illiquid, especially for the small cap coins. Introducing bots increases liquidity. Retail investors can trade more easily, and the market will not be moved by small trades (relative to equity markets). That’s the good thing. The bad thing is that retail investors will have to be more sophisticated to stay in the game, especially when competing with an AI that trades. Retail investors have to adapt, or they will lag behind and disappear. They need to get into the game of more quantitative trading, more data driven decisions. Marcel: It sounds like AI and automated bot trading will also decrease the intra-day volatility for the coins. Guy: A lot of the intra-day volatility comes from speculation and that decreasing is a good thing. Man Against Machine? Marcel: Makoto, one of the earlier core developers for NEM, told me that, “People always think that when AI beats a human at like GO or in trading crypto markets, that it is a machine beating a human. It’s not, it’s about the entire software development team beating one human person.” As a company developing your own AI, where do you stand on this issue? AI – A machine that learns from the collective wisdom of the crowd Guy: I like it, very interesting thought and I would add to that. When you compare an AI to a human, the AI is the sum of all the experience of many other humans combined, not just the development team. The data, the experience, the wisdom of the crowd is very easily learnt by the machine and is then pitted against a human expert. So Makoto is half right, it is a machine that beats a human, but a machine that learns from the collective wisdom of the crowd. Day 3: Season

Ok, continuing the days here.

I was thinking about summer or even spring, but since I didn't make him wear any cold weather clothes in December, I decided to make him wear them now in winter.

He could set the rain machine to make it snow or travel somewhere that snows.

His birthday is 3 days away in my timezone, so I might be late posting on the 6th.

Yesterday, on 7/30/24, GoodSmile fully revealed the Pop-Up Parade figure of Danganronpa's Makoto Naegi and opened it up for pre-orders. This figure was first announced in November 2022. It took 610 days to go from his initial announcement to his final design and the opening of orders. It will see its actual, physical release in Q3 2025.

Naturally, this got me thinking about the Yuno Gasai PUP figure.

Now, I'll grant you: When Naegi was announced, he didn't have a prototype design shown off to the public just yet. All we had was a character announcement. So this is a somewhat different situation than Yuno, who got her prototype figure revealed alongside the announcement of her existence. And as I said in my previous reblog: Before Yuno, prototype designs had been shown off no more than four months before pre-orders opened! So clearly, something has changed. And recently, I've been feeling paranoid about it, thinking stuff like: Could GoodSmile be waiting on the sales figures for the Yuno Nenderoid before they decide whether to bother producing the Yuno PUP?

BUT... if we were to see Yuno's announcement-to-open pre-orders timeline last as long as Naegi's? Then it wouldn't be strange to see her final painted incarnation revealed and her pre-orders finally go live no sooner than March 4, 2025.

And I find that reassuring.

It's January...do you know what that means? Exactly! Makoto month! I don't know if I'll be able to accomplish everything...thinking of other ideas too, but I'll try.
