“why do you think ryoji doesn't like you? the two of you seem to get along well…”

aigis’ voice echoed through an empty classroom. everyone had gone home by now. it was just you and her in an empty classroom – and ryoji standing by the door, listening in to your conversation!

ever since he first heard his name, he couldn't help but listen in, to hear what the two of you were talking about. he knew aigis didn't like him, at least it seemed that way to him, but he was hoping that at least you saw him in a positive light. but what he was hearing now was confusing him.

“i think ryoji likes me… just not the way i want him to like me” you tried to explain to aigis. “i mean– i like you, but i like like ryoji. but he doesn't seem to feel that way…”

ryoji could barely register what he was hearing. you liked him? he had been flirting with you for quite a while, but he never knew you actually liked him. perhaps if he had known…

“so… you mean to say that you love ryoji…?”

aigis asked carefully, interrupting ryoji's thoughts, as he focused on the conversation between you two again.

“i do…” you confessed quietly, the word love being so strong that it made you feel flustered. “but… ryoji flirts with every girl. i know i'm not the only one who likes him. and i know my luck with guys. they usually end up falling for someone else. i bet it's no different with ryoji…”

ryoji lowered his head as he continued listening to you. he never meant to make you feel like you were just one of many. you meant a lot to him. he only regretted that he never showed that to you.

“perhaps it would be best to move on then” aigis suggested, making ryoji flinch as he heard those words. “i think you can do better than him. you shouldn't have to date a guy who can't choose who he wants”

a pained chuckle escaped your lips.

“if only it was as easy as just moving on…”
