When all my kids and babies are finally grown, I want them to look back on their childhood days and remember a mom (amma) who was strong but kind, focused and driven but yet playful and fun. But most of all I want them to remember childhood as an awesome start to life.

What I DON'T want them to remember is a mom (amma) who was stressed to the max, who was grumpy, who was tired, who was always on computer/phone and not really engaging with them or that I was always too busy.

When they look back, I want them to remember me as a positive role model and someone they could always go to, AND our home as a place of love, comfort and strength.

Anywhere you go or anybody you meet that matters (the obvious ones are your family, friends, intimate partners, but we’re talking beyond that) should be treated with extra respect. Little things go a long way. You should strive to leave good memories even if you are gone for a day, yet alone months or years...or forever. Assure that you leave people with a smile when they things about you. Have them call you with a “miss you” or “thought about you.” These are some things that you can do to leave a standing memory: (1) leave a kind note and a smiley on a sticky for them to find every once in a while; (2) leave them an audio message relaying a nice compliment; (3) buy them their favorite food and have it delivered, not expectations; (4) sit in the sun, in silence, with them; (5) suggest a good podcast or book that can help them; (6) say “good job” and notice their accomplishments; (7) invite them to dinner and plan an evening out; (8) stop by the hospital to visit them when they are sick; (9) invite an old friend for coffee; (10) always be grateful and show appreciation for the little, routine things.
