I’ve translated some Precure interviews from the 20th Anniversary Character Chronicle! This post is dedicated to Tropical Rouge Precure. Information under cut😊 (Note: I am not a professional translator! There will/may be some errors, but I tried my best!)

2.The Precure Manatsu transforms into, her charm point being her lips. She went to save Laura, who had been captured by a Yaraneda, and declaring “I decide what’s important to me!” Her Heart Kuru Ring appeared, turning her into Cure Summer. “Otento Summer Strike” is her signature move.

3.A first-year middle school student at Aozora Junior High who grew up on Minamino Island and is full of energy and motivation. Her motto is to do what’s most important right now. She formed the Tropical Club with her friends, and her catchphrase is “Tropicashining~!”

1.“We worked with the terms “tropical” and “cosmetics” as keywords. Our highly motivated Cure Summer consists of a multitude of colors, with her main being white and her sub being rainbow.” (Next Quote) “Her charm point is her lips, which are pale pink. A colorful sub section of colors was chosen to accentuate the white in her costume.”

2.“To express the idea of summer, we went with a hibiscus design, along with a pink to blonde gradient. Her costume is based off a sailor suit. The wavy, see-through collar makes the design pop.”

3.“Since most of the scenes took place near the ocean, the footwear had to be light. A thicker sole makes it easier to wear, along with a sandal-like lace design.”

4.”We asked Ai Fairouz (Summer’s VA) for words of inspiration as Summer. She stated, “Decide for yourself what is most important! This is what I believe  can be encouraging, especially in interpersonal relationships.” Fairouz-san claims she enjoys watching the characters enjoying fashion together.”

Since she was created to be the “fashionable character”, we looked heavily into teen magazines for inspiration.” (Next Quote) “Her cheeks are her charm point. This is expressed as heart marks, which greatly enhances the cuteness of her character.”

2.“The hat we selected was an unusual style. We initially had it much larger but decided to shrink it and add a striped ribbon to make it more fashionable, along with a little coral. The big ribbons in her hair were also deemed fashionable, and her dress retains the elements much like a sailor uniform.”

3.“A skirt that is risen in the front to expose the socks made for a neat look. We coordinated these with pumps and frills to give them a girly style.”

4.“We asked Yumiri Hanamori (Coral’s VA) for words of inspiration as Coral. She stated, “I want you all to believe in me and my cuteness!” Hanamori-san likes Coral’s sailor hat and believes it is a cute accent to the costume.”

Since she doesn’t show much emotion as a civilian, the gap between her design like that and as a Cure was made to be gorgeous.” (Next Quote) “We created a hairstyle to mimic a papaya, hence the bun. We added a butterfly and colored beads like fruit as decoration. Her charm point is her eyes, so green mascara highlighted this point to a unique degree.”

2.”Tropical fruit accessories add a touch of glamour to her face. The earrings mimic kiwis. Papaya’s square collar emphasizes uniqueness while still retaining the similarities between the rest of the team.”

3.“Her skirt is balloon-shaped that resembles a papaya itself. It was a bit simple at first, so we added frills and ribbons commonly enjoyed by a younger audience.”

4.“We asked Yui Ishikawa (Papaya’s VA) for words of inspiration as Papaya. She states, “Do what is most important! What TroPre has engraved in my heart are these words~” Ishikawa-san adores Papaya’s boots, as they mimic loose socks, reminding her of her family.”

1.“Asuka is like a caring older sister who is good at sports and is a member of the tennis club.” (Next Quote)  “There are traces of this within her skirt. Her charm point is her hair, so a contrasting green mesh was added to the tips. This invokes a bold movement in her design.”

2.”Various feather motifs were selected throughout her design. This includes her hair ornament and sleeves. Along with a single earring, this makes it unique in terms of shape and color scheme. The ribbons are different behind her Tropical Pact. The asymmetrical design was chosen to represent a flamingo standing on one leg. This is accent by a light shade of green for contrast.”

3.“Fishnet tights invoke a cool older sister feel. With this, we believe the possibilities for cuteness have expanded.”

4.“We asked Asami Seto (Flamingo’s VA) for words of inspiration as Flamingo. She stated, “Victory! Simple and a declaration of triumph”. Asami-san loves the feather motifs in Flamingo’s outfit, as she says it is cool and different.”

1.“Cure La Mer dreams of becoming Gran Ocean’s next queen, which is the land of the mermaids. She is strong and confident, so we accentuated this with her bangs.” (Next Quote) “Fluffy sleeves were given since Laura’s outfit already exposes a large portion of her upper body. We made them round to mimic sea foam.”

2.“With her cute cut bangs, we picked buns with cute pearls in them to represent clams. The white leggings emphasize Laura’s acquisition of legs (from mermaid to human) and are connected to the open shoes. This was done to highlight the charm point, which was her nails. Also, rather than a sailor uniform, we chose a more exposed style for the front to resemble a swimsuit. This is because Laura hails from the land of mermaids.”

3.”The skirt is expressed with overlapping scales. By layering each color, we created a Precure with an unprecedented color. This in turn kept the mermaid motif.”

4.“We asked Hidaka Rina (La Mer’s VA) for words of inspiration as La Mer. She stated, “I’ll make my wish come true! Laura working hard towards her dreams is incredible to see. This, along with the desire to be a Precure, left a lasting impression on me, and it’s an important, powerful message.” Hidaka-san likes the gradient in La Mer’s hair.”

Chapter 02

The world was filled with glowing lights and the sound of an excited crowd. The sweat dripped down my skin like the silver tears of a mystical being.

The movements of my body acted like an instinct I always had. My voice was caught by the microphone near my mouth and filled the stuffy room with a sound I remember so clearly.

When I looked to the side for a mere second I could see my best friend feeling exactly what I was feeling. The Ecstasy flooding through our veins pushed us to a performance unlike any other.

The feeling held up as we walked off the stage, my heart pounding in my chest as I tried to have a relatively steady walk.

Sitting down at the makeup table with the biggest smile I had ever seen on my face. My friend still hugged me tightly from the side, rubbing her head against my shoulder.

"That was the most amazingest show we ever did! And your singing Amaya!" Minori chimed happily.

"It really was, still can't believe I was allowed to sing, considering how strict the rules are here" I chuckled.

"I can already see one of those fancy managers seeing you and biting each other's heads off to get ya"

"I won't get my hopes up too high, I like sharing the stage with all of you afterall"

"Oh come now! You deserve more than an underground Burlesque bar to perform in. You have the talent to be more" Minori pulled up a chair beside mine, letting her body fall down on it like a doll.

"Like I said I will not get my hopes up too high, I still have my Psychology studies to focus on"

"I really can't seeya taking care of other peoples problems"

I roll my eyes with a smile before starting to redo my makeup.

I flinched when Minori started yelling suddenly.

"He texted!!!" She yelled and started shaking me violently.

"The big guy?" I ask while holding her in place on her shoulders.

"Yes! He texted, he wants to see me again"

"Just be careful, I don't trust the men coming here, especially not that one, heard he is a big fish in the undergound"

"I am sure it will be fine!" She said in a calm tone giving my shoulder a light tap to calm me.

Even with Minoris reassuring words the uneasiness I felt remained in the back of my head.

With a big thud, the door closed behind me, crashing in the locks like thunder. Like usual the room was empty except for a table and a chair placed in the middle, cold and unwelcoming.

With quick steps, I let my bag fall to the ground and sit down on the chair. Placing my coffee mug on it before correcting my posture and clicking my pen.

"Good morning" I greeted happily, eyes looking at the man sitting in front of me.

Still looking half asleep, probably hadn't been too long since they woke him up or perhaps he couldn't sleep. Even if one would think having been here for a year you would get used to the light always being on.

"How has it been?"

"You sound like a robot" he rasped. Chuckling ever so lightly, but this time a lot more tired than usual.

"And you sound half asleep so I guess we both have our issues to work out"

"Nah, have been awake for too long no issue"

"Did something happen?" I ask as my ears perked up in interest.

"Did no one tell the arrogant little princess?" He laughed in the most taunting way I ever heard him laugh "I had another mock execution"

I wrote that down before looking back up to him again.

"Well I am glad you are still here"

"Fuck.you"

"If you feel ready we can continue this or maybe we can talk about the-" I said ignoring his remark.

"Keep wishing I'll tell you anything" he snarled.

My mouth stayed open for a second before closing. Tapping my fingernails against the clipboard, take a deep breath as I try to find the correct words to use.

"Why is it that you still don't trust me? Not even a little bit?" I asked staring into his eyes with genuine interest.

"Aye, I have no reason to trust you. Besides I already have the number two as my lapdog"

"So you trust Endeavour because he proved one time that the conversations are private?"

"At least he proved it, unlike some humans" The way the word human rolled off his tongue sounded like the worst insult ever given to anyone.

"Very well," I say before rummaging through my bag. Taking out a yellow Bento box with some duckling stickers on it.

I opened the box and was met with the smell of rice, chicken, and some nicely cut vegetables.

"It is highly against the rules to give prisoners any kind of nutritious food, with the reasoning that they should not gain strength. I could lose my job for a simple thing like that" I explain already separating some chicken, rice, and a few vegetables on the box lid. "Real funny if you ask me".

I stand up to walk around the table and place the homemade plate in front of him. After that, with a quick motion, I loosened the chains so he would be able to eat for himself.

"It's poisoned," he said looking down with a suspicious eye on the food.

"Trust me it isn't"

"Prove it"

"No thanks"

"Then I won't eat it"

"It isn't poisoned. It wouldn't make sense for me to do so"

"At least one bite of the chicken" he argued.

I could feel the uneasiness creep up my spine.

"I don't eat chicken. My boyfriend made that for me so there shouldn't be any poisonous substances in it"

He stared at me for a moment. If it was because of the chicken or my boyfriend I couldn't tell.

His mouth opened and closed a few times before he was able to find the correct words.

"You have a boyfriend?"

The question didn't surprise me but it still felt rather stupid to even bring this up, on my part. Giving people, especially villains, a weak point is never good.

"Yes, now eat up"

"How? You sound way too arrogant for any man wanting to be near you, let alone fu-"

I stared at him wide-eyed. Feeling rage bubbling up inside of me that I try to suppress. I blinked maybe once, maybe twice before saying the most honest thing I could in that moment.

"First of all fuck you. Second I thought I told you to eat so please do before I decide to practice force-feeding on you"

"Please do" He laughed leaning his head to the side. "Would be my pleasure to bite your finger off"

"I won't do it"

"Hah! Knew you were jus-"

"Because that is one of the worst things I have ever seen done here and I don't want to practice that"

He stayed silent with an unreadable expression. After some time in silence passed he started to slowly eat the food. Very slowly he started chewing on each bite like he would need to leave if he finished too quickly.

I let him finish his food before packing it all away again, leaving his chains loose like I was not scared to be hurt by him.

"Did you have a partner?" I ask while drawing ugly little baby birds on my paper.

"I still have"

I stop mid-drawing to look up to him again. Leaning against the armchair tapping my chin with the pen lightly.

"Can I ask for their name or is that too much?"

He hesitated, that was clear with the way his gaze went to the side and his teeth biting his lip.

"Nitsuki" he mumbled.

I decided to not write that down, in favor of not accidentally sending an entire squad to her doorstep. Afterall she didn't exactly do anything harsh.

"What's your boyfriend's name?" He asked while looking at me with his piercing eyes. He sounded calmer again.

"Riku. What did you like about her?"

"She was calm, always. Couldn't read her for shit"

"That's what you liked about her? That's not the best trait to have if you ask me, sounds like she never cared much"

"I didn't ask you" he spat, clearly offended by how I spoke about her.

"Sorry. How did you two get together?"

"Why does this matter?"

"I am merely curious"

"Aye of course... It wasn't special, just met her and knew I should marry that girl"

"Wait hold on for a second!" I raise my hand in a waiting moment. "How long did you know her for you to decide to marry her?"

"Not long?"

"Are you braindead? You can't marry someone you just met, especially not if you can't even read her at least a little bit"

"Hawks mate for life, there is no undoing of falling in love and it was the right choice"

I didn't buy that, it sounded more like a one-sided thing and I haven't even got a lot of information.

"You may be a mutant but don't forget you are also human"

"What the fuck is that supposed to mean?" He glared at me with rage in his eyes.

"It means exactly what I said. Someone who may be half-hawk doesn't mean they share every single trait. To put it simply, there is no one true mate for you, because that would be a trait for an actual hawk not a human like hawk"

I didn't know what I had expected to happen after my words. But perhaps him jumping at me trying to claw my eyes out with his talons wasn't really on my mind, especially since I was sure he had quirk suppressors and all that important safety stuff.

The only good side of this happening was that he still had chains and they were still too short to reach me...

...Once I moved two steps away from him.

My chair was falling to the cold ground with a loud noise that rang in my ears. My eyes were wide open from the shock, I could feel my body tensing up.

Breath

Now I knew for sure that I pushed his buttons too hard too soon. Even my instinct told me to run call it a day and a success but for some odd reason, I wanted to stay just a little longer.

I decided to sat down on the floor, crossing my legs. I closed my eyes for a second, only breathing and trying to blend out his yelling. Never thought he could become this aggressive.

Even if I wanted to blend out his yelling I still needed to listen to him to calm him.

"You have no fucking clue what it is like to be born a mutant!"

"You are just a dumb fucking bitch who does everything for money!"

"you don't know shit about me or my life!"

The scene right in front of me made me sick to my stomach. I didn't even look properly since I only got here but when Endeavour called me and told me about a motel where Shinyo probably was and what happened I couldn't shake the feeling of what I would do if it was true.

My eyes scanned over the crowd of people and the barricades from the police. With small steps, I started walking inside the crime scene, the motel where it happened.

Endeavor was standing at the side talking to policemen. As I walked over to where the body was lying.

I don't think any words would be able to describe the pure horrific, disgusting horror lying in front of me.

I turned around on my heel and walked over to Endeavour.

"Endeavour," I said looking up at the big flame hero "Can we talk?"

"Hmph" he puffed and walked with me to the side, steps so heavy it felt and sounded like the floor would break.

"We know that yes, but he was here I am sure. And since I can't calm the public alone I need someone who worked with him on a different level"

Getting some fresh air after talking and getting into a nice little restaurant was a good idea. Sitting down on a table and being greeted by an...

Abnormally large chef was a good thing happening.

"What can I do for you little lady?" He asked with a gentle smile.

"Oh just something to eat, as long as there is no meat in it everything is fine" I lean back in the chair stretching my arms.

"Of course!" The chef said and disappeared into the kitchen.

Beside me the restaurant was empty. It smelled of various different foods and spices that bundled up into a mouthwatering experience.

"Is it okay if it tastes like meat?" He yelled from the kitchen. What a sweet considered man.

"It is, as long as it isn't chicken" I answer.

When he placed the food in front of me I thanked him nicely before starting to eat the noodle soup he prepared.

The TV was running quietly in the background and I heard him humming while he was cleaning a table.

The soup was delicious. I never was the best at describing food or perhaps it was the strong taste of pork that filled all my predatory senses with delight but this noodle soup was the best thing I ever ate.

"It's really good" I tell him while swallowing a bite.

"Oh thank you! I tried to make it something special, rarely does someone ask for something without meat" he explained happily.

The news had a tendency to replay itself quite often. Hearing them talk about the motel crime and linking it to Shinyo I groaned annoyed.

"Seriously, they can't even listen to people telling them facts"

"Huh? What do you mean by that? This is horrible what happened, especially since he escaped prison..." The chef said in an odd tone of voice. I can hear his heartbeat going up.

"It wasn't Takami. I worked with him for five years in prison and Endeavour agrees"

"Wait what?"

"Believe it or not but that man is actually a pretty decent guy, if we forget about his crimes of course, and general mental problems," I explain while continuing eating "But now I wanna know why you look so pale and sound like you are hiding something".

"Oh uh... It's nothing" He stopped cleaning and looked over at me with an uneasy expression.

"You sure? If he was here I would appreciate it if you told me"

"I can't"

"The threat he gave you will not hold up if you tell him Howashi asked"

"I uh... But my... My son..."

"Trust me"

He tapped his foot nervously on the ground while playing with the towel in his hand. He cleared his throat and nodded.

"Alright... Yes, he was here with his little son. I gave them something to eat and a sewing kit, he had a wound he closed with uh... His son together."

"Did he say where he would wanna go?"

"No, I am sorry I don't know"

"It's fine, thank you very much."

I finish my food and walk up to him to pay.

"Keep the change, as a payment for the food he for sure didn't pay for"

"oh no no no! I gave it to them for his son"

"It's fine, really."

With a last wave goodbye, I left the nice restaurant I plan on visiting more frequently. Pulling out my phone and typing a message for an old friend of mine I haven't talked to in years.

21. Art styles nothing like your own but you like anyways 🙂

There was a period in my life when I was a painting major (i know, right?) so I was doing a lot of museum trips (which were cool) and art history (which I sucked at). But I also had at least one art teacher who was awesome and taught me a few things about contemporary art, so my first thought was to highlight some of my favorite fine and illustration artists:

Piet Mondrian - One of my favorite artists to come across in a traditional museum setting. Learning about his methodology and seeing some of his earlier more tree-like paintings helped me understand art process when I was just a little bean. Also I find his work to be... relaxing? I guess?

Frank Lloyd Wright - I can't claim to know anything about architecture but I like strong, clean lines and shapes and the integration of his buildings with nature seemed very at peace to me. When my husband and I got married, we found a non-denominational chapel that was designed by a student of his, so it had those vibes and I was pleased as punch.

Takashi Murakami - So when I was a senior in high school, I was working on my AP art portfolio and kind of not sure what to do for my "concentration". (You picked a subject or style and had to do like 12 pieces in that collection.) I wasn't actually in the AP art class bc of scheduling conflicts, but I was able to do a portfolio basically as independent study by signing up for a teacher aide period. The teacher I had was very into contemporary art and making sure students knew art didn't end with Picasso (and was happy to tell students about the weird and sometimes gross stuff people would do bc he knew his audience). Anyways, I was working one afternoon and he was like "Okay. I am looking at an artist on my computer right now I think you would like, but I probably can't show it to you bc there might be some content on here. But I'm going to the bathroom for about 20 minutes and if you used my computer to check your email I couldn't stop you." (SIDENOTE: OUR SCHOOL HAD VERY STRICT CONTENT BLOCKS ON THE INTERNET IT WAS NOTHING BAD BC IT WOULDN'T HAVE EVEN SHOWED UP PLEASE DON'T GO BACK IN TIME AND REPORT MY COOL TEACHER) So yeah, I went and took a look and it was Murakami and the Superflat movement as a whole. As a 90's anime kid I was STUNNED to see Japanese pop culture reflected in a fine art movement. I finally got to see a museum showing of his work a few years ago, and it was incredible. I especially loved the video pieces that showed his workshop (and assistants) and the whole process of making these large scale screen prints. It is my dream to have a large print of his in my home but for now I just have a small one and some pins.

Yoshitaka Amano - An illustrator best known for his work on the Final Fantasy series and Vampire Hunter D, his work is so dreamlike and seamlessly blends Western fantasy conventions with a distinctly Japanese style. His drawings and paintings are dripping with detail and full of fluid movement. Watching videos of him working is like watching someone cast water magic.

Minori - A shironuri (white face makeup) artist who creates fantastical makeup looks and outfits and takes pictures in both urban and natural settings, primarily in Japan. She's been an inspiration of mine for years and I now have two of her pieces (A large scale photo print and a mixed media wall hanging) in my home. Joy!

Pierre’s excited for Halloween! But of course there’s work to do so he can’t get too carried away with festivities. Minori baked cookies and they want to hand them out. Minori jokingly tells Kyoji to not steal a bite.

Michio tells Rui and Jiro that they should get going too. Rui and Michio are both in their costumes, while Jiro is still in his normal attire.. He says he’s house-sitting for the day and Rui’s like, ‘that’s boring! Let’s enjoy Halloween together~!’, while Michio’s all ‘plz don’t hesitate Yamashita-kun, let’s get Producer to work something out’

Chapter 2

There’s no spare costumes for Jiro! He carved plenty of jack o’lanterns and apparently has a knack for them. There’s bonus pay for cast today and suddenly Jiro is interested in helping..

Chapter 3

Well... S.E.M managed to find a costume after all! But Michio’s a bit hesitant to tell Jiro about it... It’s a costume for sure... a frog kigurumi. Rui's excited to see Jiro in it. Jiro suggests maybe he could just go as a mad scientist since he already has the labcoat.

Chapter 4

Rui suggests splattering the labcoat with blood for more impact. Jiro is hesitant and doesn’t think Michio will approve but he lets Rui gets his way, however, he ends up looking more like a bloodied corpse than mad scientist....

Chapter 5

It’s about time for the parade. Jiro gets ruled out of the parade because he’s just a mess. He offers to sit out but Michio says Jiro’s presence is essential for the event’s success. Michio hands him a bag full on candy that he wants him to hand out to kids.

Chapter 6

Pierre’s undecided on what costume would be good for the event; his orange Froggly suit or his pumpkin outfit:

Minori: “I think it’s nicer if you don’t wear the kigurumi... We can see Pierre’s face that way.” Kyoji: “I agree, I prefer you out of the kigurumi.” Pierre: “Got it! Then I will wear this costume today! Wait a min, I go change!!” Minori: “Pierre’s honesty is nice, isn’t it.” Kyoji: “He’s a bit too upfront, I can’t help but be a bit embarrassed when I see” Minori: “Fufu...... Kyoji also has a cute side.”

Chapter 7

Pierre has finished changing and finds Minori by himself, Kyoji went to get a drink. Minori comments that Pierre looks good in anything. Kyoji returns and asks about Pierre’s kigurumi - there was someone who wants to use it. Pierre says it’s fine but he wonders if it’s too small. Kyoji says to leave it up to Producer.

Chapter 8

Pierre: “Who was using my Froggly costume?” Kyoji: “It seems like it wasn’t used after all.” Minori: “Come to think of it, I didn’t see your Froggly kigurumi at the venue.” Pierre: “A pity. I always can’t take photo. Being side-by-side next to Froggly.” Minori: “I see, since you’re always inside of it yourself.” Pierre: “Yeah! When I wear Froggly costume, everyone smiles so I love. But, I can’t see myself…..” Kyoji: “Even if you say that… It’s not like just anyone can pull it off like you.” Pierre: “It’s okay! Kyoji is kind, thanks for worrying.”

Chapter 9

Producer came around and gave Pierre a jack o’lantern. There’s a bunch of them all over the place and they comment how it takes time to carve each one. Kyoji seems amazed that they’re all hand carved. They decide to use the lantern in the parade.

Chapter 10

Kyoji: “The position of this bolt is worrying..... Maybe I should speak with the makeup staff a bit.” Pierre: “Minori...... Kyoji is, getting more and more scary......” Minori: “Looks like it..... It’s good that he’ll scare the guests, but.....” Pierre: “Before, met Kyoji in hallway. Was surprised, wanted to run.” Minori: “Let’s keep it between us....” (Kyoji turns to them in full costume) Kyoji: “Hm.... What are you two talking about?” Pierre & Minori: “Uwah, nothing at all!!”

Chapter 11

Kyoji: “Happy Hallowe--......en...... Ah...... Ahh...... The kids ran away.......” Pierre: “Kyoji...... Sorry, I also scary......” Kyoji: “.......Maybe we need to cool it?” Pierre: “That’s it, smile, smile! It probably okay if we smile!” Kyoji: “Y-you think so? Let’s give it a test then......” Pierre: “UWWAAAAAaaHhh!? You became more scary!!” (Pierre runs away) Kyoji: “Pierre ran away too!? ........Am I that scary.......?”

Chapter 12

Kyoji still has a lot of candy to hand out. He’s thinking, wow, he sucks, and that it’s just like the first part-time job he had.

Pierre ran to Minori and they talk about Kyoji. It seems that even though the children are scared of Kyoji they seem to be having a lot of fun; Pierre thinks it was also like that for when he was in Froggly’s kigurumi. They then spot some children hiding in the corner.

Chapter 13

Kids keep running away from Kyoji and he’s not getting anywhere with his candy giving. Kyoji trips and Minori suddenly pops up to catch him. Kyoji was pushed on his back and asks if it was Minori, but it turns out it was some children nearby waving at them. The kids were all making fun of Kyoji but he was completely unaware; they weren’t running away from him because he was too scary but because he’s a loser they were having fun. Now that Kyoji knows he’s more determined than ever to give them candy. Minori says it’s wonderful that Kyoji acts like such a kind older brother.

Chapter 14

Baaaaack to S.E.M!

Rui’s giving instructions to Jiro on where to place the jack o’lanterns. Jiro is struggling and asks Rui to help since he’s older than his 50 year old self, but Rui says it’s Jiro’s job so he can’t interfere. After he’s done with the current area Michio has another job for him - cue Jiro crying inside.

Chapter 15

Michio asks Rui to explain his outfit.

Rui: “I’m a red devil! So cool, right? All the girls in the venue can’t take their eyes off me!” Michio: “I see, then, what’s your reasoning for choosing that outfit?” Rui: “There’s no reason! Just an inspiration!”

Michio thought he could’ve used Rui as a reference for why one choses to wear a certain outfit but since Rui had no reason.. Rui asks why Michio chose the vampire outfit and his reason was that because he was poor in expressing himself facially he thought it was the best solution. Rui tells him that he thinks his vampire is the coolest! and Michio’s like, thanks, this is the fruits of my research on Halloween.

Chapter 16

Later on Rui goes to the waiting room and finds Michio there. Apparently people haven’t been approaching him so he went back to read his research notes. Rui seems amazed that there’s something Michio isn’t good at. He spots a bottle of fake blood in the room, wondering where it could’ve came from (sure Rui), and suggests Michio put some around his mouth. Michio quickly refuses and Rui’s disappointed, saying that Michio would surely be popular with girls if he did.

Chapter 17

Rui’s is almost ‘sold out‘ of candy and is refilling his stock. He asks Jiro, who’s hanging around in the waiting room, if he’s playing truant but Jiro says he was just doing as Producer asked and carved pumpkins. Rui complements him and says they’re carved like a true pro.

Chapter 18

Michio is directing Jiro with placements of a jack o’lanterns, giving precise instructions of 3cms to the right, a 5 degree angle etc. Jiro complains that going right down to the cm won’t make a difference in the overall mood, but Michio is all, ‘what are you saying Yamashita-kun!! Have you never heard of the golden ratio!!’ Jiro says that does know of it... sorta.. not really.. and Michio takes this as the perfect opportunity to lecture Jiro about the golden ratio.

Chapter 19

Michio gets ready to practice for what he’s been studying for; the act of scaring people for entertainment (or something to that effect). Jiro says that Michio is really a hard to understand guy with strange tastes. Rui says he got a headache from looking at Michio’s scribblings on the whiteboard. They tell Michio to don’t go overboard but he tells them not to worry. He suggests that they all gaining new knowledge of everyday together but they flat-out refuse his offer.

Chapter 20

Michio: “Theoretically, this conduct should emit great joy from children...... nevertheless....... Why are the children not approaching around me.......” 

Seems like Michio is having problems, but by Rui’s observations Michio is actually unknowingly popular with girls. Rui asks Michio if he’ll take his lesson and Michio agrees.

Chapter 21

Michio: “Miss, if it’s alright with you, would you allow me to suck a little bit of blood?”

...aand that was what Michio learnt from Rui lol.. Michio ponders how his own research was insignificant but Rui says it’s fine because the girls (totally red-faced) enjoyed themselves.. Michio promises next year he’ll complete his theory.

Chapter 22

Minori: “Here, this is Pierre’s share of the cookies to hand out.” Pierre: “Wooow, there’s lots. I want all the guests to eat!” (Pierre runs off) Kyoji: “Minori-san, is this my portion? Hmm, these look different from the rest.” Minori: “Aahhh, those are the wrong ones. Kyoji’s share is over here. Here you go.” Kyoji: “These look like delicious cookies. I’ll work hard to hand these out.” Minori: Phew, that was a bit too close. My present to Pierre and Kyoji almost got exposed. Hm, if I leave them lying around someone might eat them. I’ll have to hide them.”

Chapter 23

Kyoji goes to consult Minori because he’s having trouble with kids running away from him again, but he actually just frightens the hell out of Minori who was looking for a place to hide the cookies. Minori says he’ll cast magic on Kyoji ~☆ Suddenly the place smells of flowers and Minori explains it’s rose oil he extracted himself. Minori asks if his magic worked and Kyoji’s just all, “er.... yeah I think something happened....”

Chapter 24

Parade’s almost over but they're still people just coming in. Pierre hands out candy to them, Minori prepares flowers for them all. Pierre asks for a flower too but Minori laughs and says he has a special present for him later. 

Chapter 25

Kyoji: “Phew.... Are we all done? ....... It was fun but exhausting...... I’m starving.....” Minori: “Good work today. It was fun, wasn’t it? By the way, I have some cookies for you, how about it?” Kyoji: “Seriously? I should’ve known. You’re always so thoughtful.” Minori: “You’re not getting more by flattering me. You can eat them back in the waiting room.” Kyoji: “Thank you. Its been a while since I’ve had cookies....” (Kyoji goes off with the cookies Minori made him and Pierre) Minori: “Now then, it’s probably time Pierre wants a snack. Where did he go...... I wonder if he left any hints.” (Minori goes off to find Pierre)

Makeup Refs!

I’ve compiled a list of different makeup refs that you can look at and get ideas from, with the simpler styles starting at the top and moving to more avant garde and detailed stuff at the end. There are also descriptors for each makeup inspiration.

♔ kirumagica

Super cute and girly, kind of anime-ish but still can be worn for the HFW.

♔ bitchieasian

Cute and sometimes girly, mostly does shironuri and ishoku hada so all the looks are colourful. Many of the looks are inspired by yami kawaii and may contain gory elements.

♔ chanel.yui

Not just makeup but fashion ideas too, much of it is 90s inspired and has a vaporwave aesthetic.

♔ Minori

Detailed and floral, mostly nature based shironuri.

♔ Antoinette Mahr

Her style of makeup has brushstroke elements and more graphic elements to it which is what I like most. Quite a fun and pop art kind of style.

♔ nightmaring

Graphic elements and some looks have splatters and streaks that I really like. Very artsy and editorial.

♔ circusshark

Extremely detailed eye makeup with some added on elements to make it more 3D. It’s sometimes playful, sometimes elegant, but overall it’s a very beautiful style.

if you look on tokyo fashion's youtube channel, they have a shironuri tutorial by minori! the white foundation she uses is greasepaint, and everything else seems to be normal makeup!

Thank you for shooting this to me! Though I do find it a bit weird that she is using grease paint, from other people I have come across that wear white makeup (like toxic tears and black Friday) they say that they use a foundation, not paint. because the paint is too heavy, it cracks, and just doesn’t lay right. Plus geisha (which where the look’s inspiration comes from) uses a more liquid type foundation then cake. So maybe that is just what Minori uses? I don’t know I will have to do more research into what everyone else uses. But once again thank you so much! I might get grease paint and give it a go anyway because I never know, i might end up liking it idk
