Since the Rogal StuG is trending, again, I thought it'd be a good opportunity to push back on some of the flak I've caught for my take on the new Solar Auxilia Leman Russ. Yes, the Russ is iconic, but that iconic look is rooted in primitive manufacturing technology and a slavish devotion to the Mark IV, as I have previously opined.

It's really not that difficult to preserve the distinctive silhouette of the Russ while also incorporating more modern details from the Baneblade and Dorn, as the Makers Cult demonstrates with their Universal Guard Light Battle Tank.

They do good stuff, there, and if like me you can't bring yourself to support Patreon then most of their .STLs can be had from CGTrader.

Died on this day: the truly wild maverick “outsider actress” Susan Tyrrell (née Susan Jillian Creamer, 18 March 1945 – 16 June 2012). “Actor often cast in sleazy, raunchy roles” was The Guardian’s headline for Tyrrell’s obituary. Seriously - what greater career summation could an actress possibly hope for? She brought nuance, humanity and perversity to her portrayals of grotesques, harridans, shrews and alcoholics. For better or for worse, off-screen the hard-drinking Tyrrell wasn’t dissimilar from the characters she played. And as Michael Musto concluded in his Village Voice tribute, “Hollywood never really embraced her – she was too strong, fiery, talented, unsculptable. Too unique.” Films I’ve loved her in: Fat City (1972), Andy Warhol’s BAD (1976), I Never Promised You a Rose Garden (1977), Forbidden Zone (1980), Angel (1984) and its 1985 sequel Avenging Angel, Big Top Pee-Wee (1988), Cry-baby (1990) and Powder (1995). The show seamlessly inserting discussion of the in the concepts of ‘darkness go to the darkness’ and the ‘Devil’s road’ so to connect the lore and language used in later books actually can be something so emotional and powerful.

Daciana fits so well as an Ann Rice vampire. The way her dialogue flows feels like it could have been written on the page. This old and melancholic figure, the feeling of religious conviction she has about what it is to be a vampire.
