Today, on Cooking With Cybertronians, we are baking... a panda cake. Witness my baking prowess and tremble!

First, gather your ingredients. I have chosen angel food cake. According to your human legends, angels fly. Therefore, a cake made from angels should be light and airy.

Do not question my logic. I am Megatron!

Next, mix the ingredients thoroughly.

Now, bake the cake for 35 kliks. I neither know nor care what that is in your pathetic human timestamps.

Bake at 350 F.

Once the cake is baked, allow to cool and add the icing glaze. Then decorate. Be patient. This is a cake, not your treacherous 2nd in command.

Another day of coping by doing make it minis, this time with my mini me

If I were to do anything differently, I would mix all of "dirt" with resin first for the dirt cups so all of the cake layers look the same.

I've seen the new Miniverse From Scratch sets on Insta lately and I've been super curious about what it IS.

So I got one at Target.

I got lemon and lavender cupcakes.

My favorite parts of this set are the utensils. There's a spreader, a silicone cupcake pan, a cute mixing bowl, and a 2-shelved stand.

Anyway, there is a powder that you mix with a liquid, pour into the mold, and wait.

The frosting is probably decoden or silicone. I haven't even gotten to that point, honestly. I'm still on "wait 1 hour and 15 minutes".

The warning/info sheet is a little alarming, and it wasn't until I'd started the kit in the kitchen, where the easy-to-clean surfaces are, then sat down to wait that I saw that it says do NOT put this in the kitchen or anywhere near food or drinks. As you can see, we'd just had our lunch, and I did have an open drink nearby.

Always read your info sheet first, kids.

I got spooked by there being powder all over the outside of the "cake mix" bag and my left index finger getting itchy and then my fingers getting super oily as soon as I tried to open the "brown butter" and went and put on some gloves.

What I was hoping was that the info sheet would have information about what these kits are. What am I mixing together? Is this an A+B foam? Is it 2-part epoxy of some sort?

There's nothing. No information other than the warnings not to breathe around it, don't touch it, USE THE TWEEZERS, and to wash wash wash your hands.

So. Still no idea.

I just found out that MGA was fucking selling like...mass produced toys with UNCURED LIQUID RESIN...TO KIDS... WITHOUT ANY ACTUAL WARNING ASIDE FROM "Not edible" and "Not suitable for kids under 8"

But at the same time who the FUCK is thinking "Lemme look this up because what if this is an unsafe substance in a kids toy?" FUCKING NO ONE

I'm so pissed. They actually harmed so many children and people with their fucking negligence.

I've only ever occasionally seen adults building these mini things on Tik Tok and I thought it was just creative things these guys built or little kits they were getting from Etsy but it's a whole brand. AND EVEN THEY SEEMED TO BE NOT TAKING THE PROPER PRECAUTIONS and I said something sometimes if someone else hadn't already. But I thought "Surely there's no way someone is using resin without knowing the risks." Thinking this was just a fuckin art community thing. But NO.

I'm ranting. I'm sorry. I'm just actually like...so dumbfounded.

They need to get sued so fucking hard. How long have they been selling this shit?!?!

Welcome to Cooking with Cybertronians. I am Optimus Prime, and as I have been graciously invited to participate by Megatron, today I will be baking something called a confetti cake.

I am... uncertain where exactly Wheeljack found an Autobot sized box of cake mix, but I appreciate his contribution. I will endeavor to follow the instructions as printed here.

To make a confetti cake, I need to add sprinkles. All right, that was simple enough. These sprinkles are quite colorful.

Next I add melted butter... I hope it is all right that I used my ion cannon to soften the butter. We do not have a working microwave on the Ark at this time.

Now that the batter is well mixed, I pour it into these cake pans and cook for, hm... 35 minutes at 350 degrees.

Once the cake is fully baked, I add frosting and more sprinkles. The sprinkles are my favorite part.

The cake is finished.

Now to slice it... and, um, find some very hungry humans because Cybertronians do not, in fact, consume cake. Ah, well, this has been an entertaining diversion regardless. I hope you also enjoyed this exercise.
