Once infected there was little hope – his brother, of course, thought he knew better. But Somnus knew that his healing could never outpace the infection. And it weakened him.

Still, he slowed in his work at cleaning blood of his leather armour.

“I did. Once. But it is no use. It makes me hesitate. It makes me think too much. They aren’t human anymore, Ardyn. They are just Daemons. And the humans, if they are still inside that, only suffer. It is merciful to end that.”

"There is plenty of use!" Ardyn huffs.

He pulls a dagger out of the ground and begins to clean it, looking at the mess of bodies Somnus' men will need to clean up. All monsters, all once citizens of their homeland. He thinks about the whispers calling Somnus a monster, who thinks he only cares about killing monsters and not protecting his people. Ardyn brushes a had through his hair.

"Look. Aera heals, you kill those who've turned, and I kill the ones that are in between. Too far gone but not transformed. All of it necessary and good work," He explained. "But I seem to be the only one thinking about my image while doing it!"

He waves his hand in frustration. He doesn't understand how two such public figures don't understand how their actions affect their image.

"It doesn't matter for little miss white magic, but me and you? We have to make them understand it's needed." He said. "They aren't scared of me cause I make it painless, because I talk the families through it. It's not really an option when they are already monsters but. I don't know. If we could figure out who they were, we could send some condolences? Show them you care beyond pest control."

i nearly pissed my pants when finishing this like 5 times because of ardyn bro FUCK ARDYN (hes HOMOPHOBIC). honestly i lowkey did that too when playing the main game but that was because of the jumpscares. then after that i got even more pissed off on tabata's behalf (note i have yet to finish the other 3 dlc) cause like yeah you see the guys in the main story but this like fleshed out ignis so much. u really cant tell just *how* (how to do italics??) much ignis cares for noct and is willing to not just put his life on the line but to totally lose it in order to protect him. afaik (or assume) iggy is probably closest to noct out of the bros (again assuming from brotherhood n the opening scene) and he had pretty much just been always hanging around (key to his apartment) noct. we get to see all that from iggy's perspective (literally at times) which the main game was very much missing and this was practically supplemental materials to the course that is ffxv. alas they killed off tabata and now we have nothing to see. i cant really comment on ardyn & im still weighing my options for the novel (i hate spending money but i hate buying licenses more) but it seems that something regarding bahamut comes up (more soon). like honestly this is lowkey as a whole but anything under tabatas command has this melancholy to it that we will probably never see the of light again and i think this verse 2 is yet another example of what could have been but wasnt due to the workplace opps. moral of the story is there are always jealous losers after you, but when they think they've won they've just sent a bunch of other people after themselves...

anyways i think thats enough regarding the story. i want to comment on iggy himself. i found it really funny that even with his glasses off he could see clearly (why even wear them especially because he literally looks fine without them) with apparently enough that he could fight ardyn. lowkey though this guy is like one of those "fashion mfs" (i have tik tok brainrot) like bro you could see his collar sparkling in the sun as well as his belt?? on top of that his shirt is leopard print (as well as the roen skull) and the necklace like wtf... this guy is an inspiration. i really like the implication that he does his hair every morning without fail and tbf i think aside from the dlc whenever the rest of the bros get dirty ignis is somehow the cleanest (except in those crestholm channels) as well as the fact that he remains clean shaven through those 10 years. i need to be like him STAT. wonyoungism more like ignisism...

combat wise i feel like theres that slowness again but its not just with ignis; with gladio sure its expected and it took time to get used to it with noct but noct's warping abilities make up for it. this isnt a big deal tbh just a little annoying especially with how (at least for me) lt will dodge and lb would have "warped" but otherwise gameplay here is pretty simple too. honestly even with that like the fact that ravus and even aranea never became playable is a loss bc iggy n ravus synergize pretty well. whatever no point in focusing on what could have been. instead we have to focus on what will be (i filled out the square enix ff survey with a wish for more ffxv... if more people do it perhaps they will hear our pleas...) please i need more of my beautiful king ignis.........

Fans of Final Fantasy XV will be all too familiar with Ignis's facial scars after he puts on the Ring of Lucis and sacrifices his sight to save Noctis. As well as the scars on his left eye and right eybrow he also has scars on the bridge of his nose and his lower lip. I was going through some old screenshots of Episode Ignis when I noticed that immediately after his fight with Ardyn he doesn't have any marks on his nose or lower lip. He does, however, gain those scars in Verse 2 when he follows Ardyn, but that ending is not canon and he wouldn't end up with those scars later in the main game. I'm sure I'm not the first to spot this discrepancy and as Ignis is my favourite character I'm surprised I didn't notice it sooner.

Ardyn reached out and pet the boy's head. He could see how much pain he was in, one more loss in a time when he couldn't take it. He wouldn't lie to the prince and act like it would be better though.

"It wasn't really meant as comfort, really." He admits. "Just a statement on how much one might find themselves going through. FFXIII and the Rest of the Owl

FFXIII has many reference to other entries in the series; of the key notes FF9's (and other FFs) red moon are reflected in Cocoon, but the roles are reversed. Where the Monsters inhabit "Earth" instead of the moon. (I like FF9 better, that's all )

The calm lands in FFX reflected in the Grass Lands of Gran Pulse (And the cities of the Nier series)

The same Calm Lands are featured in FFXV; which has a literal [Bank of Spira] inside the end zone. This game ALSO features the end of the world as it's covered in Shadow, and having to fight the Chaos bearer. (Rebranded in this game to Ardyn and Star scourge)

Star Scourge is similar FF7s Mako Poisoning and Jenova Cell influenced Geostigma. And; FFXV seems to also feature Cid's rocket as a minor sight seeing location in its parallel to the calm lands.

FFXV's Location of Insomnia (Noctis Kingdom) feature a location featured in FFXIII lightning returns. This is uncertain if it's because of the original connection between the two series as being a sort of parallel of each other; but that plot point was eventually driven to other Series like Kingdom Hearts 2 - the world that never was, and the original FFXIII-Verses game (FFXVs predecessor) being shunted into a new game featured in Kingdom Hearts 3.

It's not clear exactly how these pieces fit together; but it seems like FF7 featured heavy damages on the planet earth, which lead to the creation of Sin in FFX (as a safeguard) Sin went on a rampage, and had to be defeated by our protagonists in FFX, who were also Remnants of the pyre flies. Beings not quite dead or alive. (Except for Yuna the summoner who could summon them forth.) Essentially using Chaos to defeat Light, and starting the line of Seer that ended with Serah.

The chaos with nothing to keep it in check overwhelmed the planet (Now called Pulse, likely as a derogatory term.) and the remaining humans fled to Cocoon, and re-established Sin with beings they called "L'Cie". The L'Cie are essentially the Summons [Eidolons] Summoners would use to defeat Sin every so often (And Sin was the biggest baddest Eidolon that couldn't be killed, because it would take the form and strength of the precious eidolon used to kill it.)

Fal'cie are similar to Yuna's [Not quite dead companions] in that they're beings chosen by the L'Cie to protect the world. The problem is; humanity doesn't see them as [Chosen] just as those infected with [Chaos] like Ardyn was.

Which leads to FFXIII's main story; and why Humanity is hellbent in destroying Lightning and Co.

FFXV likely happens before humanity decides to flee to the moon. Noctis and his best friends save the world at their own detriment, and the Kingdom of Insomnia's downfall; but because of the constant war between light and dark. Are unable to stifle it completely.

Humanity flees to the Moon, and this is why the city of Insomnia, at least the clean bits seem preserved in [LR].

//In the interim; Because Cocoon's orbit diverges away from the planet for decades, even hundreds of years on end; Nier: Automata happens.

Thanks to Hope's machinations; an entire series of Androids based on a Freudian slip of Lightning continues the fight between light and dark, despite each being more or less the same thing.

In the end; the Machines defeat the Androids (Thanks to having shutdown their reproduction factories). This is explained that if the humans went to Cocoon, the records would say "Moon" and nobody would be the wiser.

Etro in FF13 could then be related to [The Red Girl], Etro is the feminine diety to Bhunivelze's patriarchy and works to undermine him. Who seems to be struggling with a sort of [Patriarchal] control module herself.

Thus the Intoners from the Drake guard series could be directly related to the Seer's from FFXIII. It should be noted that many of Hope's creations are featured prominently in Nier Automata.//

And when Cocoon manages to meet up again with Gran Pulse, we get the series finale, where Lighting takes the whole of humanity from the machine ridden, death trap to what seems like a replica of Earth. (Where she becomes a Lois Voitton handbag model.)

Verse Information - Sunset City.

So I added a verse on my carrd for my Discord server, primarily because those muses now have some common ground through there that's easier to fall back on than to completely redo their meetings and dynamics from scratch here. It's by no means the "main" canon for this blog, but here's a post explaining it anyway for anyone who cares enough to know.

Basically, the premise is that every muse in the server gets mysteriously added to a group chat that then gives them access to a hub world called bargain bin Twilight Town Sunset City. From there, they can access the worlds of all the other associated muses. Sunset City is a dreamlike city ( literally ) that gets reshaped based on the minds of those that access it. But lately, the muses have been trying to get to the bottom of what this place really is...

A lot of the major canon divergences apply to the KH muses, and they really just stem from the fact that there's a bit of a sense of linear progression in the server, so Sora was very much in step with my playthrough of the series, so when he died...I kind of had to improvise LMAO. I'll have to improvise again whenever we get more information on KH4, but for now, just consider this a completely alternate timeline to the main canon where he disappears to Quadratum. Some fun things also change for Roxas but not to nearly the same extent as Sora.

Edit: And then the same thing happened to me while writing Noctis. I was writing him in step with my playthrough, then dude had to go and get prophecy'd on me and I had to figure out how to justify continuing to write him; same with my friend who writes Ardyn in the server. So those changes will also be detailed here.

Let's start with Roxas, since he's got fewer divergences to hammer out:

Basically, just so I could justify writing him while he was canonically inside Sora's heart and not really existing, he managed to exist in Sunset City during that time, due to Sora's heart manifesting him there and the nature of Sunset City as a dream world. He sort of experienced stuff in Sunset and stuff through Sora's heart as if he were in both places at once. His physical body also couldn't leave Sunset until he was able to link to Xion at the end of KH3.

And for Sora:

Sora's ship in this verse is with my friend's Riku who doesn't write on tumblr, so you'll probably see Soriku referenced in relation to this verse.

After the events of DDD, Sora got a therapy Munna from Emmet ( Discord-only mun ). Sora had trouble sleeping after his Mark of Mastery exam, on account of, y'know, the whole "I almost never woke up and had my body used to house part of Xehanort" thing. Also, nightmares. Lots of them. So since Dream Eaters can only really exist in sleeping worlds, and he can only summon his Meow Wow for short periods of time outside of there, Emmet arranged for Sora to have a therapy Munna. She's a shiny that the Breeders turned over to Emmet because they trusted him to put her into good hands and not just ask for a shiny for its own sake. In fact, he didn't even really ask for a shiny. The Breeders just were like, "oh, this guy's reputable, we can give the shiny to him." Sora named her Munny on account of her gold color, and because Munna sounds like Munny! Munny is bred to be a therapy Pokémon, not a battling Pokémon, so Sora doesn't actively battle with her, but she can help defend him in a pinch.

Jingle doesn't really exist in this verse...yet.

And here's the biggest one: Sora is not in Quadratum, and has not been yet. This divergence is entirely a result of me flying by the seat of my pants and trying to figure out how to continue to write him in the server after he fucking DIED — think "anime adapting an ongoing manga and running out of source material and having to improvise" type of beat. Basically, because of all the friends he made in the server, as well as all of his friends from canon, Sora's heart was able to hold on and wake up in Anti-Sunset, a parallel nightmare counterpart to the pleasant dream of Sunset. He began trying to make his way back to the surface, but was interrupted by a mysterious woman who splintered his heart into several fragments again. Several of the muses in the server formed a rescue party to try and find him. Each of the ten fragments of Sora's heart sensed the group and called out to each of its members, requiring them to help him overcome some of the pain in his heart in order to dispel the darkness that kept them caged and separate from each other. After these ten fragments were obtained, the group was able to safely return home with Sora.

Whenever we eventually get more information about KH4, and potentially a release date, I'll figure out an excuse to eeby deeby him back to Quadratum, but basically, if you see references to a rescue operation for Sora in threads set in this verse, that's what's going on.

Noctis suffered from the same problem as Sora, where I was writing in-game events happening to him as I experienced them, not knowing that was eventually going to result in him perma-dying. This also ended up writing the server's Ardyn into a corner. So here's what we came up with:

After learning his and Ardyn's fate from Bahamut in the Crystal, Noctis decided that — as angry and damaged as Ardyn made him feel, it just wasn't right to kill someone who was also a victim. So instead, he appealed to any humanity Ardyn might have had left in an effort to make a truce, and try to put off the inevitable long enough to look for another way. Incredibly, Ardyn agrees to the truce, and holds back the miasma enough for the group to resume their travels, now with Ardyn in tow, looking for a way to change their future for the better.

Because the prophecy hasn't been fulfilled yet, there are still daemons running about, and the party is doing their best to keep things under control. They basically have Ardyn on a big ol' child leash while he menaces them in less apocalyptic, more just plain old annoying ways.

The point in the Sunset timeline that I write these guys at on the blog jumps around a lot, it just kinda depends how I feel lmao.

Some absolute madlad decided to try a triple summoning circle and this is what came out. >:DDD

For the joy of it, let’s pretend it’s another FFXV world and the summoners were back in the time of SOMNUS’S AND ARDYN’S TEEN YEARS. Because Why Not™.

So. Peaceful kingdom of the Lucis Caelums, going about it’s peaceful kingdom days, unaware of the cult that wanted to overthrow the throne and summoned three beings, one of which is a goose and only one of which LOOKS like one would expect a demon to look (aka taur Ardyn who laughed gleefully at the terror her draconic half inspired in the cultists).

Then the Ardyns, having finished mopping up the cult that dared summon them and try to order them to attack their family, arrive in the capital.

And everything goes to Chaos.

Goosedyn is spotted first, mostly because a goose with a tiny terrible hat wandering the castle halls is Noticeable. Somnus is the one to spot him. Somnus stares at Goosedyn. Goosedyn stares at Somnus.

Then Somnus gives chase with a war cry that would be much more intimidating if it hadn’t been from a fifteen year old who’s voice still cracks at odd intervals because GOOSEDYN IS HOLDING SOMNUS’S FAVORITE BOOK in his beak. Goosedyn speeds off, honking hysterically and having the time of his life as he warps right past a startled Gilgamesh’s legs and escapes Somnus’s clutches because Somnus did NOT warp in time and thus crashed headlong into his Shield and sent them both tumbling.

While Goosedyn provides a LOVELY distraction, human Ardyn and the lovely Ardyn!Taur break into the throne room with the Crystal in it and proceed to 1. overcharge it with their magic so it releases a purifying wave without anyone needing to die, and 2. break into Bahamut’s home dimension via the Crystal and wreak unholy havoc and pranks while the draconian is still halfway napping the centuries away.

By the time Bahamut wakes up enough to wonder how the HECK a bunch of glitter and silly string got into his dimension and WHY IT’S ALL OVER HIS WINGS, human Ardyn and Ardyn!Taur have already made their escape. >:D

Meanwhile Goosedyn has successfully sparked a city-wide chase with a Somnus, Gilgamesh, a bunch of the royal guard and one very bemused teen Ardyn all on his little goose heels. Everyone is blaming Ardyn for the magic goose, because the magic is red who else could have given a goose MAGIC??

Then the Wave washes over them and everyone stares. Goosedyn honks in glee.

Human Ardyn and Ardyn!Taur show up just as the pursuers are turning around, both of them smug as all get out. Human Ardyn snatches up Goosedyn and warps away before anyone can see him, but Ardyn!Taur lingers just long enough to tip her terrible hat and smile a fanged smile at the gawping Somnus and Ardyn before warping away with a flap of her big wings.

So now everyone thinks Goosedyn and Ardyn!Taur were the same being and that she was a shapeshifting demon taking the form of a goose to wreak unholy havoc in the city.

Which. To be fair. Isn’t COMPLETELY incorrect now is it?

Calem squawks as the giant beast comes barrelling toward him. He's short of a weapon at the moment, so he instead bares his claws. Until Rusi'a;s voice starts to tumble from it's vicious maw. Of course his friend would wind up in a mess like this.

He rolls his eyes at the pleas and walks over slowly, giving his friends beastly shape a comforting pet.

"Of course I'll help you, We're friends after all." He assured him, "Though my help will likely consist on sneaking you onto a cart and taking you to Urianger, I'm no good with magical nonsense."

a monster barrels forth from a tree, a large blur of black fur. rusi'a shouts upon seeing calem, sprinting for him, then realizes their current situation and attempts to skid to a stop. beast goes ass-over-head with a scrabbling of claw, locomotion not quite figured out. "calem! thank the matron. calem, hey--" rusi'a wriggles, catches themselves in the jaw with a hind paw, and ends up in a pile of themself on the ground.

rusi'a's voice comes from the monster on the ground, now looking pleadingly up at calem. it's their same voice and bright blue eyes, but the rest of them is a large black beast that physiologically seems to be a blend between tiger and whittret, a bit longer than a man is tall. "please do not stab me. it's me, you know, good pal rusi. i've been looking for ages for somebody i know— i need some help." clearly. not used to their current length or anatomy, rusi'a is trying very hard to untwist themselves and get up. "uhm. you'll help me, right?" at least their pleading expression is still cute enough to earn some pity points, right? right? please. they hope.

“I didn’t say she was,” He said. “It still hurts like fuck whatever the reason they are gone.”

Honestly, her death had been easier than their separation. After their children were killed, they couldn’t look at each other without pain. It was a couple years before they were close again. Her death of old age decades later was nothing in comparison to that, to knowing his attempt to help her destroyed their family.

He pours himself a drink and takes a swig.

“It was a long time ago,” He sighs. “She’s with our kids though. It’s good to know they aren’t alone.”
