Also there's many racists & white supremacists who would be more than happy to have their life saved by a nonwhite person in various circumstances. In fact, many racists desire to be served by racialized peoples.

Rich White people in the 60s had underpaid Black people be their maids, cook their food, and raise their children, but didn't want to drink from the same water fountain as them. White people during the fur trade were more than happy to utilize furs hunted/traded by Native Americans, but thought we were savages for our skill in it. White colonizers in India were content to utilize Indian silk, tea, and have Indian slaves or servants, but didn't want to be equal to them.

Racists won't always turn down help from even people they hate because they use racism when it's convenient for them to keep White supremacy as the status quo.

Guardians of Ga'Hoole?

I loved that book series as a kid but I'm also shocked that it got a movie before Warrior Cats did cause I think I've only seen one other person reference Ga'Hoole

I already expressed my feelings on this one a bit. I have never read the books so im purely judging it as a movie itself.

As a movie on its own, it felt like one of the many forgettable early 2010s YA dystopian movies coming out that just happened to be about owls. VERY pretty well crafted animated owls mind you. The characters and pacing felt very truncated like they struggled to include everything they needed into the movie.

Me being extremely nitpicky warning, I dont know if this is how I'd feel about the books to or if something was lost in adaption but the worldbuilding as it was in the movie feels too weak for the sorta genre and tone this story is aiming for. It feels like it has one foot in one foot out bwtween wanting it to be like Silverwing or Watership Down in terms of being about x regular animal but with intelligence, and wanting it to be more worldbuildy or Redwall-ish in nature. There is no humans, and the owls have metalwork and racial supremacy movements and government, but they are still kinda just..owls i guess. Maybe the books are just kinda like that to, but in book form it leaves more to imagination or lets you focus more on all the characters.
