needle to the heart

𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐫.: wedding planning seemed stressful and difficult on tv and in the stories of your friends and family. your first one was, indeed, stressful and difficult. so much that it took you less than ten minutes to discard your wedding dress, undo your hair, and call a cab. this time will be different. with a different approach. in a different city. with a different man. 𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠: kim hongjoong x f!reader x choi san 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭: 7k 𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐬: angst, smut, bride!reader, ex!hongjoong, ceo!san, cheating, marriage, past lovers 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐬: public, voyeurism, orgasm denial, slight dacryphilia, choking, hair pulling, fingering, mirror sex
𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬: swearing, infidelity 𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐬: i whipped this out in three hours. enjoy. i did. i'm horny. and sad. not proofread. :)

you liked to think that you were the furthest thing from a bridezilla. you did everything on your own or with your partner, kept your family and friends out of it, for their and your sake, and little by little, all the planning was coming to an end. the seating arrangement was finished, bridesmaids happy, parents satisfied, and you and your partner relaxed. all that was left to do was find the wedding gown and tuxedo.
for your last wedding, your then partner and you did not have a big budget. you did not plan a big wedding either, knowing that none of your family members would attend and he had a very small circle of people.
kim hongjoong was in college, struggling to make ends meet. but he loved you, more than anything. would've kept you in his pocket if he could. he borrowed money from his brother to pay for the venue and catering, and used his savings to buy himself a suit that was conveniently on clearance. as for your dress, he made it for you. his dream of becoming a fashion designer never faded, even though it cost him his apartment and most of the food. he lived off of coffee, pretzels and cigarettes.
he quit them for you, hoping to create a better impression in your parent's eyes. but all they saw was a cigarette smelling, hair dyed boy whose dreams were too big for his own good and he could not give you a good future. they didn't not like him. they hated him. your father, usually having a soft spot for even a pout from you, let alone tears, was unfazed as you begged him to give hongjoong a chance.
"you'll become homeless in no time."
"don't come to us when everything falls apart."
"what do you know about love at your age?"
"why can't you find someone more successful?"
and you almost went through with it. you sat in the hand sewn wedding dress, with your hair done by your best friend, and make up done by yourself. the dress itself did not look like it was made in under a month by a man. it looked like it was stripped from a mannequin in a wedding dress shop. and you loved it. you loved every bit of it. you loved every bit of him. the smile he had on his face as he handed you the box, and the little excited clapping as you admired his creation in awe.
yet, as soon as your best friend left you to get the veil from the car, you regretted it. what if it really does go wrong, and you have no backup. you didn't go to college, instead choosing to work until you decide what to do with yourself. but your paycheck wasn't enough to find an apartment for yourself, let alone two people. then comes the food, the utilities, and his college. would he ask you for money? would he contribute at all? would you have to work two shifts to cover both of your expenses?
in the ten minutes that your best friend, the maid of honour, was gone, your brain managed to mess with your feelings and got you out of the dress and through the window. you ran in the clothes you arrived in, leggings and sweatshirt, with undone hair and face full of smeared makeup. your parents ushered you in, your mother happily wiping your makeup off and preparing you your favourite meal.
your phone did not ring once. it hurt your heart to think that hongjoong did not reach out to you. not him, not his family, and not your maid of honour. you were alone. hurting. you did not want to do it. but if hongjoong had been just a tad bit more patient, everything would've been perfect. neither of you were financially stable on your own, or together, and barely had the money for the wedding. hongjoong didn't understand it. or didn't want to understand it. blindly in love, he just wanted to gift you the world. say the word, and he would create it out of thin air for you if he could.
you moved cities, changed numbers, forgot names and faces, met new ones. you met choi san. a kind, polite man you've met at the gym. the encounter was like one from a movie; someone raising their voice at you for borrowing some equipment and shoving you backwards as you tried to defend yourself. when your back hit the wall, you were certain the giant bodybuilder's fist would soon meet your face. until he came to rescue.
"pick on someone your own size."
"this your girlfriend or something?"
"she is. even if she wasn't, what gives you the right to talk or touch anyone like that?"
"tell your slut to keep her fingers to herself and ask the next time she wants to- oof!"
in a split second, san's fist connected with the man's jaw. it was amusing seeing the giant man stumble back, taking a hit from someone who was shorter and not as bulked as him. the workers were quick to react, but on his behalf. both of you got your membership cancelled, bags and bottles flying out the door, along with you two. you stood in front of the glass doors in the dark, your saviour next to you, equally in disbelief. until you started laughing. and he joined.
from that night, everything seemed to fall in place. you felt loved. safe. had hopes and dreams again. your parents accepted san, just like his parents accepted you. family dinners and lunches were now an often occurrence, with san always abducting you while everyone was busy preparing food and giving you attention where nobody could see.
it was sweet and innocent at first, and more heated and passionate as days went by. choi san knew how to sweep you off your feet, whether it was with a sudden trip to your dream destination or a simple chocolate bar he picked up at the gas station. aside from loving, caring and protecting, he was also rich. you would sound shallow if you said it out loud, but it did contribute. looking at your last relationship, this one felt safe. you didn't need to worry whether you'll spend today's budget on your daily coffee or on your partner's food so he doesn't starve.
now, a few years later, not only do you have a majestic venue, a big number of people you wanted to invite in the first place, and a dreamy groom, but you are also getting your wedding gown custom made. you sit in your fiancé's car, a brand new black and shiny lexus with red seats he bought for the wedding that is just three weeks away. he assured you that the gown would be done by then. it had to be.
"see anything you like, love?"
"they're all so... revealing." you complain, closing one of the dozens magazines san's assistant has found you.
san chuckles, putting a hand on your thigh and keeping the other one on his steering wheel. you still feel goosebumps every time he touches you. his hand is warm on your skin, gently squeezing your bare thigh just beneath the hem of your dress. "you can draw your own picture if you wish. i'll do everything to make sure you have your dream dress. i want my future wife to be happy."
as an owner of a highly successful company that produces luxurious jewelry and watches, choi san could afford everything. yet, he was still cautious with his money. he kept his receipts, tracked his own expenses, but never spared when it came to spoiling you or tipping workers. the only thing you regretted was not meeting him sooner.
"i am happy." you respond, even though your tone is irritated.
"you're so cute when you try to conceal your emotions. you can be angry with something, that's alright."
"i'm not angry. i'm pissed."
"tell me what you want, and i'll make it happen."
"i don't know what i want." you admit, throwing the magazines in the back seat.
"ah," san says. "can i be of any help?"
"you can try."
"you love sparkles. why not go all out?"
"i don't know."
you rest your head against the window, looking at the tall building that overshadows all the others as you give your brain a break. it is san's building, and you have been in there many times. some days spent sitting in the cafeteria and having lunch with him, and some spent against the window, bare body pressed against the cold glass as his warm hands held your waist in place and hips connected with yours. you feel arousal pooling between your legs, and instinctively press your thighs together at the memory.
san recognizes the way you chew your freshly manicured nail, eyes stuck on the highest level on his building and cheeks becoming flushed. he smirks to himself, before letting his hand dip between your thighs and feel the warmth of your core.
"san-" you gasp, quickly rolling up the window.
usually, you do not mind. but in the middle of the day, in a busy city as you wait for the green light?
"may i know what got you so worked up?" he asks, knowing the answer already. he just needed to hear it from you while you were a flustered and stuttering mess.
"you know."
"i'm afraid i don't. mind reminding me?"
you look at him with an annoyed face. you realize it is a mistake, your eyes hungrily taking in his presence. he looks ravishing with his slicked black hair, with a few strands falling over his smug face, a black halfway unbuttoned shirt with rolled up sleeves and his sleeve tattoos on full display. the tattooed hand grips your thigh, his pinky finger inching closer and closer to your clothed core. your gaze drops on his tattoos, having memorized all of them by now. your favorite one overshadows the rest, and when he first showed it to you, it had your jaw dropped for a long time.
your eyes inked on his skin, details astonishing. your lashes, your iris, to the smallest vein in the whites of your eye. it was cleverly camouflaged with the rest of them, but still standing out if someone were to look at it a bit longer.
something about him pleasuring you with that hand had you seeing stars. choi san loved you so much that he got a reminder of you permanently marked on his skin. and he made sure to show you how much he loved you in other ways. just like now, easily moving your panties aside and brushing his fingers against your folds. he circles your clit, causing you to squirm in your seat and claw at the red leather underneath you. he doesn't protest, instead loving the view and sounds you make for him.
"my pretty wife," he coos, then dips his fingers into your aching hole.
you moan, throwing your head back and closing your eyes, finally relaxing your body. san has given you passion and an adrenaline rush. you can't help but be jealous of his previous lovers. were they also treated like this?
you feel the car move, and his fingers plunge deep inside of you. you gasp, opening your eyes and holding onto the door handle and his wrist. he smoothly navigates the busy roads, not once taking his hand off your body. his thick fingers easily find your soft spot, not sparing a moment before abusing it and inching you closer to an intense orgasm. he is forced to stop at another red light, causing you to groan out of frustration. you wished for nothing more than to get out of the busy city center, beg him to stop in an empty parking lot so you can offer yourself to him in the back seat.
"excuse me?"
you become stiff under his touch, ears picking up a foreign voice. san does not halt his moves, relentlessly slamming two fingers into you, hidden by your dress. you squeeze his wrist - a poor attempt to stop him.
"yes?" your lover rolls down his window, shifting his focus on the older couple that approaches the car.
"do you know where this street is? we aren't usually in this city." they show san their phone screen that has an address written in the notes.
as san explains, you can't help but feel a mix of fear and embarrassment. the green light could turn on any second, and your orgasm could wreck your body in the same time span. you can't help the gasps that leave your lips, even though your head is turned to the other side. it does not make the situation easier, seeing that the sidewalk is full of people waiting for the bus. and have a perfect view inside the car. some of them recognize the pure bliss on your face, and while a few turn their heads away, two or three of them stay looking at you.
"and then you turn left after the restaurant." san finally finishes, and you almost do too.
"thank you, kind man. is your... partner alright?"
all three look your way, and you have to fight the urge to yell at the couple to leave and be on their way already. instead, your orgasm ripples through your body, sending shockwaves along your spine and making your eyes roll back. you hear faint snickering, and a gasp. you know that the couple is traumatized, and that san is enjoying every bit of it. as are you.
you don't conceal your moans anymore, allowing sounds of pleasure to echo in the car that now smells less new and more like you.
"i hope you find your location." the man greets, removing his hand from your glistening folds and letting his tongue feast on the fluids that coat his fingers.
before they can respond, the light turns green, and san is quick to step on the gas pedal and leave the shocked crowd behind.
"you're insane." you exhale, a smile creeping on your lips no matter how angry you wish to sound.
"and you love it."

san's assistant is still a student. she works for him so she can afford her college. her job description says doing tasks that make san's job easier, but in reality, her only task is to keep you company and help you around the wedding. and she does not complain.
"april, this looks fabulous." you gasp, gawking at the three story wedding dress shop a few days later.
"i know, right? i pass by this shop every day on my way to college. i really want to buy my own dress here some day." the redhead sighs, dreamy gaze roaming the white gowns. "you know, mr choi is so cool for letting you design your own dress."
"when you get proposed to, give me a call. i'll see what i can arrange." you playfully reply.
she laughs, then finally pushes the door and holds it open for you. sometimes you feel jealous of her. she has fire red hair, and green eyes, the most gorgeous shade you've ever seen. she spends a lot of time in san's building, right outside the office. even though she has never shown interest in him, you can't help but moan just a bit louder when you're in there with him, hoping that she hears and gets the message.
"the owner is so hot, mrs choi. i met him the other day to book a consultation and-"
"mrs choi?" you raise an eyebrow.
"oh- i mean- can i call you that? it sounds so... sexy. mr and mrs choi. the hottest couple i know. not even brangelina can top you."
"april!" you hush her. still, you can't help but blush at her compliment. you're happy to know that she sees you as attractive as san.
after a short introduction and a few words of praise for san, you are sat on a white couch with golden accents, a champagne in your hand and magazine in the other. the shop assistants offer all the help they can, showing you various gowns they already had and handing you rough sketches. but none of them were good enough. it was hard to pick, when you didn't know what you wanted.
"where's the owner? i thought he would be here." you ask on april's behalf.
"oh, he had urgent business. if you wish, i can schedule another consultation in a few days. or you can wait for him, but he arrives late today."
"how late?" the redhead asks, brows furrowed.
"an hour after closing. but i can keep the shop open for you until he arrives."
april groans, making you chuckle. "you have to go, don't you?"
"yeah. boo. but you should definitely stay. the wedding is two and a half weeks away, and you have no vision of your dream dress. i have five in mind!"
and so you do stay, occupying yourself with browsing various materials of lace, satin and whatnot. each of them are undeniably stunning, with a detail that makes it unique. the last assistant that stayed behind encouraged you to explore the two floors again while she stays downstairs and finishes the remaining paperwork.
your heels click against the marble stairs as you climb to the first floor, eyes skimming the room for the second time today. the dresses on this floor seem more modest, with long sleeves and not as much cleavage. quickly getting bored of the floor, your proceed to the top one. it is extravagant, gowns dripping in sparkles under the strong white lights. once you finish going through all of them, you head over to the show window, examining the two mannequins dressed in two versions of the same gown.
you sigh, feeling disappointed that you are so hard to please. your eyes drift to the streets that have calmed due to the lateness of the night and sudden change in weather. it is pouring, most of the stores are closed, making the wedding boutique stand out in its full glory. a few people pass by, none of them headed to the store and instead clutching their umbrellas close to themselves so they don't get wet. you begin feeling annoyed with the owner. he could've notified you that he had sudden errands, and you would've rescheduled instead of wasting your time coming here at all.
then, you see a figure walking towards the shop. and your heart drops.
it can't be.
you rush to the top of the stairs, careful to not make any noise.
"mr kim! you're drenched! i'll get you a-"
"no need, kendra. it's not that bad."
it is him.
his voice you could recognize anywhere, no matter how long has passed. his figure, his voice, even the footsteps that are getting louder and louder. you are not ready for this encounter.
"you can go home, love. i'll close up after i've finished with..."
"mrs choi."
"right, mrs choi."
so he does not know it is you. and he won't. not until he sees you. you're a fool for not exploring the place first, finding out the name of the owner. and you're a fool for not leaving when april did. at least then she would've maybe told you his name, and you would not come back-
"y/n?"
ever again.
"you're mrs choi?"
you sigh. there is no going back. there is no avoiding it. best get it over with. do you address him professionally? or by his first name? "mr- hongjoong."
he scoffs, and you finally turn around before you stumble on more words. the sight takes your breath away. this is not your ex hongjoong. it is mr kim, owner and designer of wedding gowns. his hair is not a vivid colour as it used to be, instead his natural dark locks match his dark eyes. it is damp, drops of rain falling from the loose strands and on the mopped floor. he wears a black coat, a black turtleneck and slacks. a complete opposite from your blue haired hongjoong who loved his diy sweatshirts and sweatpants. the man stands still, his expression a mix of anger and grief, and yours only astonishment.
"thought you'd see me sleeping on a bench somewhere? beat and hungry? not successful and financially stable? not over you?"
"no, i-"
"wow. who would've thought i'd be making a wedding gown for my ex fiancee." he approaches you, and you don't have energy to step away. instead, you stare as he puts his hands behind his back and casually leans in, face close to yours. "again."
"i-" you try again, feeling his hot breath on your lips.
"well, shall we get to business? before you change your mind faster this time? wouldn't want the poor man to have the same fate as i."
anger, along with regret, pools in the bottom of your stomach. anger that he didn't reach out to you. and regret for what you did that caused him not to.
"choi... choi san? the owner of that watch brand? well, this watch brand." he shows you his wrist, the familiar watch design shining under the boutique lights. "can you believe that? i can afford it and not go bankrupt. i have to admit the prices are whopping, but it is a really nice-"
"can you stop fucking shitting on me and give me a chance to speak?" you interrupt him this time, brows furrowed and nails digging into your palms.
"fine. go." he sits on the couch in the middle of the room, putting his leg over the other.
"that day... i just-"
"no. speak of the design you want." he interrupts again, making that bubble of anger inside of you bigger and bigger, threatening to burst any moment. "you haven't come here to explain yourself. nor did you ever think of doing that. just because i had a few things to say doesn't mean i want to hear you out. now, speak. long? short? sleeves? no sleeves? easier to unzip so you can leave faster without anyone noticing you?"
your palms burn from the intensity of your nails digging into your skin, and your teeth abuse the insides of your cheeks. "fuck you."
hongjoong abruptly stands up from the couch, causing you to stumble back in order to defend yourself. "me? fuck me? what did i ever do to you besides loving you?"
"you didn't listen. if only you did, we could've been married by now. we weren't financially ready then-"
"i had found a job. i saved up. i wanted to surprise you with a new apartment. but you surprised me with my own wedding gown laying on the floor without the love of my life in it. i have to admit, you outdid me there. did not see that one coming."
"i didn't know about your job."
"of course you didn't. you didn't want to know. your family brainwashed you. tell me, is san filthy rich? is he the one paying for this dress?"
his voice is dripping with bitterness, and his sour smile makes your insides turn uncomfortably. you're not used to seeing him be this mean. but something tells you that you will never see the pure side of hongjoong you've known ever again.
"did your parents adore him as soon as they heard his name? after all, he can afford a lavish wedding. he can give you anything you ask for. all i could give you was the ability to disappoint them with your partner choice. my apologies for that, by the way. i should've known better."
"stop. i'm leaving."
"no, you're not. your little assistant made a contract with us, and you are not to leave the shop until you have your dream gown."
"i don't want your fucking gown."
"boo-hoo. cut the tears, dollface. you're not in a position to be sad or angry. i, however, am in a position to chew you out for what you did to me."
"and you're not chewing me out right now?" you reply, angry tears streaming down your face. you hate crying from frustration.
"this is me holding back, my ex lover. you don't wish to hear me unleash."
stubborn, you straighten your back and walk towards him, until you are mere inches away from his face. "unleash, then. let me hear what you've been brewing all those years."
the man doesn't flinch. instead, he hands you a gown from the rack, shoving it into your hands. "go try that on."
"i don't-"
"go."
letting out a shaky exhale, you enter the dressing room. you finally look at yourself in the mirror. slightly smeared mascara, a few wet trails on your cheeks, and frizzy hair. when you put on the dress, you look just like the day of your wedding; dressed up, hopeless, and troubled. it's like deja vu, putting your hair in a claw clip so that you can see the dress better. tears of anger slowly turn into tears of sadness. you have robbed yourself of your first love, and him of his happiness. you turned him into a bitter man.
"suits you." he comments nonchalantly, hands crossed over his chest. "now, i wonder. by the look on your face, you did not know i own this place or design the pieces in it. what did you think i did after you left?"
"i didn't think." a lie.
"did you think i'd drown in tears from sadness?"
"you know, it seems to me that you thought about me more than you wish to admit." you play his game.
"i am not afraid to admit anything. i did think about you. i ran after you. your best friend stopped me. said you were not worth it. that you'll forever let your parents navigate your life. some best friend, huh?"
you didn't hear from her, or anyone else. nobody reached out to you, and you didn't reach out to anybody. it seemed like a mutual silent decision. and it killed you inside.
"try this one." he hands you another. "might be a bit big, but i'll adjust it."
the switch from professional to whatever the other thing is scares you. so you listen. it's the least you can do. you want to get your dress already, and he might get closure. both of you might. the second dress is plain satin with a corset top. it accentuates your eyes, and isn't revealing, with a simple sweetheart neckline. the pearl straps are made to fall off the shoulders, showing off your collarbones. hongjoong had a fixation for your collarbones, always leaving a hickey or two when making love to you.
you look at yourself with disgust. you're choosing a wedding gown for a man of your dreams, and your mind wanders to the way the man outside the dressing room marked your body every chance he got.
"come out, bride." he calls, and you can't tell if he is mocking you or really means it.
you come out, collarbones on full display, and mascara still smeared. he was ready to throw another comment, but upon seeing you, words get stuck in his throat. his jaw drops slightly, and eyes roam your figure hidden in the satin layers. your waist invites him, as does your unmarked skin. and you know desire in his eyes when you see it. and you hate that you feel it pooling in your core as he approaches you.
"you told me to unleash?" he whispers.
"yes. please do." you beg, hoping to finally close this chapter of your life. "don't hold back. i can take it."
he looks at your teary eyes, chewing the inside of his cheek. he always did that when he thought hard. finally, he steps closer, until your chests almost touch. the towers over you, making your head tilt slightly so you can look at him. the sight is too familiar to him; you below him, teary eyed and smeared makeup. the only thing missing being his load coating your cheeks.
"i hate you."
"okay." you gulp, looking at his chest in front of you.
"i hate what you've done to me. i hate that i ever loved you. i hate that you moved on so easily, while i had to stay back and live in a town where everything reminded me of you. i hate that i was so gullible, thinking we could have a future together. i hate that i thought i was good enough for you."
"hongjoong-" you wish to stop him before you break down. but he doesn't. instead, he places a hand on your neck, causing you to gasp and look up at him once again. your hands wrap around his one wrist in hopes of removing it. "hongjoong-"
"most of all..." he pushes you against the wall, putting light pressure on the sides of your neck. he brings his face close to yours, so close that your noses touch and lips brush each other. when he speaks, you feel how soft and warm they are, and hear how venomous his words are. "...i hate that i still fucking love you. i hate how good you look in a dress you wear for another. i hate that another one is kissing you, touching you, giving you everything that i couldn't. i hate how stunning you look, and i hate myself for being so weak to your mere existence. i hate that you look this good, and it is not for me."
"you're hurting me," you sob.
"you're hurting me, mrs choi. after all these years, you still hurt me." two tears escape his eyes, and he shuts them and furrows his eyebrows. "i hate that i can smell him on you."
his grip softens, but he doesn't remove his hand from your neck just yet. you swallow, before letting his wrist go and instead wiping his tears away. he opens his eyes, not expecting a soft approach from you. when he looks at you, you don't see the resentment anymore. you see pure pain. and you hate to admit that you feel the same.
"we could've been perfect together."
"we could've." you confirm, moving his damp strands from his face and brushing his hair in the process. it is as soft as you remember it. he closes his eyes again under your touch, exhaling and letting himself go in your arms.
"please," he whispers. "one last time."
your moves halt, and your brain freezes. your heart thumps loud inside your chest, and you're sure he can feel it too. "what?"
"one last time." the dark haired man allows his hand to slide from your neck, index finger following an imaginary line down your neck and running over your collarbones. "let me give you a chance to change your mind."
you wish to say no. with all your heart. you love san, more than anything. you've grown with san, you've created a new future with him. but your love for hongjoong is... familiar. old. nostalgic. and still undead. it was buried alive, and you didn't even know it.
"please..." his whispers become softer, and lips closer to yours.
"don't..." you try, voice an equal whisper.
"please," he begs again, his other hand sliding to your waist and pressing your body against his.
"don't," you say, voice shaking as you fight your brain and heart, both already at war with each other.
he closes the distance, placing a gentle kiss on your lips. it is a split second, but in that second, he opens the pandora's box, unleashing everything bad about you. you gulp, feeling his scent envelop you. he smells like rain and jasmine, and it blends with his natural scent so well.
"please," he kisses you again, each kiss short and sweet, and full of pain and desire.
"don't."
"please."
"don't..." the hand that was on your collarbones slides to the zip on the back of the dress, undoing it smoothly and loosening your dress. "stop..."
he kisses you again, spilling begging words over and over, and you do not push him away, despite your words. "please."
"don't..." you exhale when his hands cup your bare breasts. "stop."
"y/n."
"don't stop."
"my love."
"don't stop."
"my beautiful."
"don't stop."
"my only one."
"please don't stop."
as if you shattered the invisible wall that held him back, hongjoong lets your dress pool on the floor and picks you up, pinning you against the wall and making your legs wrap around his body. his lips hungrily search for yours, kissing, sucking, biting, everything he dreamed of for the past few years you were gone.
your hands roam his body, taking off his coat and helping him out of his turtleneck. your tongue finds his, eager to taste him again. you hum the moment you touch the hot muscle, which generously gives you back equal attention. he tastes the same. he tastes like home.
"i should've ran until my legs stopped working. i should've called until my finger became numb. i should've called out your name until my voice faded." with each sentence, he gets rid of a piece of clothing, until your bare bodies are pressed against each other on the soft couch.
you don't speak, instead pulling him by his hair to kiss him again. he chuckles lightly into the kiss, your eagerness amusing to him. you're not in the mood for any foreplay, core already dripping with arousal and desire to feel him after many years.
"i want you to say it out loud." he stops for a moment, looking deep into your eyes.
"don't make me say it."
"i need you to. otherwise, i'm leaving."
"hongjoong..." guilt eats up your heart, the image of san appearing before your eyes.
"say it. say you want me. say you want me to make love to you and send you back to your future husband with my marks and scent all over you."
"i want you." you whisper.
"what was that?" he leans in closer, holding your jaw in one hand while his other one gently spreads your legs.
"i want you, hongjoong."
"atta girl." he smiles, pressing a kiss to your forehead. "i won't be gentle."
you nod, excitement overshadowing the guilt from your infidelity. hongjoong doesn't let you adjust like he always did. instead, he places his hot, leaking tip to your entrance, and slides in easily and deeply. your nails dig into his back, and walls welcome the familiar girth. you both moan into each others mouths, and stand still for a few moments. it is the sudden moment of realization when you look at each other than makes his eyes become darker, and he spares no time before pulling out and slamming his hips against yours again.
his lips leave yours, letting you moan and whine freely as your fingers pull at his hair. his tongue leaves a trail down your neck, all the way to your collarbones. he sinks his teeth into your skin, pulling the thin flesh between them and harshly sucking. you yelp, but don't push him away. you'll let him have this. you don't feel it after the second bite, instead focusing on the way his cock relentlessly slams into you, abusing the sensitive spot and inching you closer to an orgasm already.
his grip on your waist is sure to leave bruises, and right now, you do not care how you will conceal it.
"hongjoong..." you gasp.
"yes, doll?"
"i need- i don't want to cum yet." you admit.
he pulls away, enough to turn your body over so that you are laying on your stomach. he raises your hips, and presses your head against the soft surface of the couch. then, he slams his hips into yours, speeding up his moves. you are a moaning and drooling mess, not being used to being used this roughly. san was passionate, and not soft. but not rough either. hongjoong is just that: his hatred for you might be the main initiator.
"i'll send you back to your fiancé full of my seed." he growls, pulling your hair back.
your nails dig into the cushions, and eyes look at the mannequins in the show window. you don't have time to feel guilty again, because hongjoong wraps his hand around your neck and picks up your body so that your head rests on his shoulder and you can look at him as he drills into you from behind.
"look at me when i'm fucking you."
your hips hopelessly work with his, body tired from chasing the orgasm already.
"is my darling tired?"
you simply whimper at his question, the grip on your neck too strong for any other response. he pulls away once again, wasting no time in picking you up and walking over to the mirror. he lets you face it, palms pressed against the cold surface. he slides back in, deliciously filling you up to the brim. your own expressions of pleasure sicken you. and you hate that you are loving it.
hongjoong looks at you through the mirror, soft grunts and gasps escaping his mouth each time he collides with your ass. his hand finds its way to your mouth, shoving two fingers inside while his other one toys with your clit.
"look at you." he says, eyes locked with yours. you're unable to look away. "taking your ex man's cock while you try on wedding dresses for another."
you simply moan, not knowing what to say. it is hot, and painful.
"does your fiancé know you'll be wearing my dress when you walk down the aisle? does he know that the hands that made it have also been on his future wife's body?"
when you don't answer, he hits your ass cheek, causing you to jolt. "no, no! he doesn't! please, please make me cum."
"i'll let you cum. if you tell me one thing." he brings your body close to his again so he can whisper in your ear. his hips stop for a moment.
"anything." you whine.
"is his cock better than mine?"
there is no better. both of them have their ways of pleasuring you, and you enjoy both. you pull away and turn around to face him. you skim over his features, taking in his glowing face due to sweat and body full of scratches from your nails. the nails you are supposed to have for your wedding.
"no." you finally reply.
"that's a good fucking girl."
hongjoong pushes you against the mirror, this time facing you. he holds your legs over his elbows, body hovering above the floor and back pressed against the mirror. he reaches a new angle, and this time, you know you'll burst fast. all you need is a few more strokes.
"cum for me, baby. cream all over my cock."
your nails continue to dig into his back, and your forehead finds comfort against his. you moan into each others mouths, each chasing your own peak and enjoying the noises that the other has to offer. when you finally spill over the edge, you moan louder than ever, hands hopelessly pushing his body against yours for comfort. his pants turn into moans, and hips become sloppy as he also reaches his peak and shoots his load inside you. you feel fuller than ever, hole clenching around his pulsating cock. you help him ride it out, moving your hips as best as you can from this position.
once down from the high, you bring yourself to look at him one more time.
"i'll never see you again after this, will i?" he whispers, lips already missing yours.
"no, hongjoong. our story is over. i'm sorry."
he only smiles, pressing a final kiss to your lips before pulling away. he leaves to get something to clean yourself, leaving you alone in the room.
your reflection stares back at you through the stained mirror, prints of your body clear as day. bruises decorate your body after a long time, and your makeup melts from your face. facing hongjoong was a challenge.
facing san will be an even bigger one.
as if he knew you thought about him, the phone rings inside your purse in the dressing room. you rush over there, fingers eager to press the green button.
"hey, wifey. how's the gown shopping going?"
"it's-" your voice comes out raspy, and you have to cough to get rid of it. "it's going well. i think i finally know what i want." and you don't mean the dress.
"oh, i'm so proud of you. i can't wait to see you in it. “you’ll look stunning. should i pick you up?"
"you don't have to. i'll be there in a few."
"alright, princess. i love you."
"i love you too."
once you hang up, you exit the room and find hongjoong waiting with the towel. his eyes are glossy, but he holds control over the tears this time. "you know i'll always hate you."
you laugh, pain ripping through your heart at the words. "i know."
"good."
he gets on his knees, cleaning you in silence, before whispering something. if you weren't focused on every sound he made, you would've missed it.
"don't forget me."

“it’s fine, you guys can go on.” your friends walk away and you get into the car with minji. you don’t know how she found you but you don’t question it. once you’re in the car, minji smiles sweetly at you.
“hi princess. how’d you enjoy your night out? I see you look uh-” she pauses, looking at your attire. “ -Stunning.” she says sarcastically. I guess that’s what you get for dating a rich girl whose parents buys her everything.
“stop calling me princess, you called me that before you dumped me. now take me home.” you reply cheekily, sitting comfortably in the seat. minji places her hand on your thigh, softly caressing it.

“whatever, it’s too late. as long as I lay in someone’s bed, im fine.” she smiles as the car eventually pulls up to her house. she grabs you hand, helping you out of the car. she walks you into her car, pushing you up against the wall.
“you’re seriously wore that outfit…to the club? you look like a whore.” she eyes you up and down as if you’re her prey. your short dress hugs your curves perfectly, which she despises.

“oh I bet you do.” you walk away from her, going to her mansion of a room and she follows you.
“hm, touchè.” she mumbles, standing in the doorway as you lay in her huge bed.
“where is everyone?” you say into her pillow and she looks at you, her eyes softening.
“I sent the maids home, it’s only us princess.” she says, matter of factly.
“fuck.” you groan and turn over to the front, looking at her looking at you
“stop staring at me, weirdo.” you grumble
“you look pretty.” she says bluntly
“well, thank you.” she sits next to you on the bed, smirking at you.
“of course, princess.” she turns on the tv, shuffling through her playlist before she turns on a sex playlist. minji places her hand on your thigh, kneading your leg.
“minji.” you breathed out
“hmm? what’s wrong?” minji asks, faking innocence.
“i need you.” you mumble as her hand slides up your dress, you feel her fingers near your heat.
“yeah? you weren’t needing me a few minutes ago.” she replied, teasing you
“God. Kim Minji, fuck me!” you scream out in annoyance and she chuckles at you.
“fine fine, stand up for me.” you do as she says by standing up in front her. she spreads her legs that you have space to stand.
“looking so pretty.” she mumbles, her fingers coming up to trace the curves on your body. you unzip your dress, letting it slip off of your shoulder, down your hips, to your ankles. her cock twitches in her pants as you’re butt naked in front of your ex girlfriend, her face turns a deep shade of red.
“talking all of that shit and now you’re the one who’s blushing, cute. drop those drawers.” you state, backing up so that she can have space to stand up. she stands up, pulling down her pants and underwear, her cock springing free from its confinement.
you get onto her bed, spreading your legs so that she can see your glistening cunt. minji’s throat runs dry, as it feels she’s in a trance by looking at your pussy. you clear your throat, taking her out of it.
“you gonna fuck me?” you ask and she comes over to you, spitting on her tip before she lines herself at your entrance.
“i can never get over this..fuck.” she explains before she slides her length into your cunt, you let out a soft whine as she hits that spot, perfectly.
“m-minji..” you whimper out as she starts to thrust in and out at a steady pace. Minji eventually takes off her shirt, she looks down admiring the way that you take her cock in and out of your greedy cunt.
“taking me so well, princess.” she wraps her hand around your throat as she speeds her up thrusts.
“oh my- …ah fuck”. you whine out, pressing your knees up to your chest as she fucks you, that position making her cock hit the perfect spot, over and over again. minji’s fingers come down to rub on your swollen clit. and your body starts to tremble as she plays with your pussy while her cock hits your g spot with each thrust.
“yeah? that feel good, hmm.” she taunts you, knowing you’re about to cum.
“minji im gonna…oh fuck-” you get cut off as your whole body shakes, creaming her cock. she thrusts deep into you, letting you ride out your orgasm as she spurts her cum into your pussy, filling you up completely. she pulls her flaccid cock out of your pussy, admiring the way that her cum leaks out of you.
“goodness babe.” she chuckles and you blush at the intimate moment.
“just clean me up.” you grumble
“as you wish.” she cleans herself up before helping you out by cleaning you.
“shower?” you suggest
“sure.”

❚ ❚ ❚ ❚ ❚ ❚ ❚ ❚ PRETTY WHEN YOU CRY kim chaewon x reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
↳ warnings richgirl!yn, read these three parts before this one if you haven’t already, getting glimpse into yn, chaewon is chaewon…, mentions of weight & throwing up, yn’s family (a real warning fr), pre debut stuff
yn knew who she was from a very young age.
she came from an old money family, the moon family, but it wasn’t just any old money—it was wealth built over generations of hard work, or so her father would tell her.
her family was extremely important, involved in almost every major company in korea. they held a high status and were regarded with the utmost respect, held to the highest standards imaginable.
and oh was that standard installed in yn.
the numbers four, ten, fourteen, sixteen, eighteen and nineteen is something that yn will always remember for six important reasons. It's likely the reason she is who she is today.
IV
age four is the last time yn remembers really crying.
she probably cried before that, but she obviously didn’t have the memory to recall those times.
ever since she was born, she remembers being in her father’s arms, never her mother’s. her father took care of her along with her brothers.
yn knew her father wasn’t the best man, but he wasn’t the worst. at least he acknowledged all three of his children. while he definitely paid more attention to her brothers, he still looked after her.
her mother, though, never acknowledged her. even when yn was a little baby, her mother’s focus was always on her boys.
both parents’ attention was always on the boys—they were the future of the family, the men of the family. at least her father made a little bit of effort when it came to yn.
at age four, yn was at the age where all she wanted to do was play outside, winter had fallen and disappeared and it was finally getting warmer outside, so it was the perfect opportunity to go play outside.
she asked her dad to accompany her but he was getting ready for a meeting.
“go play out front,” he said patting her head, “it’s beside my window, so I’ll be able to see you, the gate is locked so it should be safe, it’s big enough for you to run around, just watch out for the flowers, the maid planted them yesterday.”
yn excitedly ran out of her father's office, dashed down the large marble steps, and headed for the front door, but not without bumping into one of her older brothers.
“where you are going?” daeun asked his sister.
"outside! dad said I can play out front," she replied eagerly.
the ten year old clicked his tongue and shook his head. "lucky you. after jae’s done getting ready with mom, I'm next." he was about to remind her that the whole family had dress fittings today for the ball they were hosting, but she was already out the door.
yn basked in the sunlight as she ran out front, rolling in the grass and sprinting on the concrete.
suddenly, her foot slipped, causing her to fall and hit her knee on one of the decorative stones. blood started to paint the stone red
yn let out the loudest cry imaginable, clutching her knee, not even caring about the blood on her hands.
“yn!”
yn looked up, she furrowed her eyebrows confused to see her mother running towards her and not her father.
“oh my- what happened?!” the woman asked kneeling in front of her daughter.
“I was running and tripped.” yn sniffed as her mom lifted her up, she wrapped her arms around the woman’s shoulders leaning her head down, “where’s daddy? I need him to look at my knee.”
“he’s in his meeting,” the woman informed the crying girl, “I’ll look at your cut.”
“but he always looks at them! do you know how to look at mine?”
the woman patted her daughters back as they made their way inside the big house, “I look at your brothers all the time, let me patch you up and then get you ready for the dress fitting.”
instead of arguing more yn just sniffled tightening her grip on her mother who walked further into the house.
“we also can’t be crying like this anymore yn, we don’t do that here.”
age four is also the first and last time yn remembers being held by her mother.
it was also the last time she remembers fully crying.
age four the standard was officially introduced to her.
X
yn thanked her father as he passed her a second piece of bread. "jae, pass me the butter, please."
"you're having another piece of bread?" her brother asked with a grin. "slow down on the carbs, yn."
"pass your sister the butter," their father said sternly. jae immediately quieted his laughter and slid the butter over to yn.
daeun gave jae hard nudge, “leave yn alone it’s not her fault she’s menstruating.”
yn's mouth dropped open as her brothers laughed. She looked at her mother with a betrayed expression. "you told them?"
"I had to," her mother shrugged, cutting the beef on her plate. "they might have been concerned about why you're eating so much."
yn pressed her tongue to the inside of her cheek. ehen she realized she was having her first period, she wanted to go to her dad, but what could he do? she knew she had to go to her mother, even if it made her uncomfortable
“yn is always eating though, especially this year.” jae said, “even the maid brings her snacks.”
“always snacking and writing those poems.”
"can you shut up, lardass?" yn snapped, getting ready to lunge over the large dinner table.
"leave your sister alone," their father said, taking a sip of his wine.
silence fills the table for their mother speaks up, “actually yn, I got your dress in a size four.”
yn looked up from her now abandoned bread confused, “size four? I’m a size eight though.”
“I know.” her mom shrugs, “I feel like you can be a little smaller, it would make you look attractive.”
“why does my ten year old sister need to be attractive?” daeun asked in a joking manner.
“you know what I mean.” their mother said before looking at yn, “you need to slim down a little honey, cut out some things.”
“can you two talk about this on your little girl hangouts.” jae cut in.
yn scoffed, “what girl hangouts.” she muttered to herself, her mother barely talks to her much less have girl hangouts, “may I be excused?” she looked at her father who nodded his head.
“where are you going?”
“the washroom.”
it had been two months since that dinner, yn stood in front of the mirror in her bedroom. her size four dress fitting perfectly.
“see,” her mother started, “you look so beautiful, size four is the size for you, I’m glad you took my advice on cutting out some food.”
yn stayed silent just look at herself in the mirror, she looked up at the ceiling as she felt the back of her eyes start the burn, the water threatening to spill out.
“are still sick?” she turned to look at jae and daeun who entered the room that their mother had exited.
“she was sick?” daeun asked look at his younger sister who sat her vanity, looking through her expensive perfumes.
“yeah for like the past two months.” jae said, “sometimes after dinner I would hear her throw up like crazy in the washroom.”
daeun raised his brow at yn who barley acknowledged jae’s words.
“can you guys tell dad I’ll be downstairs in a second.”
"Sure," jae said, tugging daeun along with him. daeun looked back at yn before shaking his head and following Jae out of the room. along with him.
there’s a reason yn will always remember the age ten.
XIV
the starting of age fourteen was weird for yn.
jae was eighteen and daeun was twenty , they were barely in the house these days cause they were making their way through training for the family name, they were slowly becoming more and more important to the family business.
while yn was stuck at in the big mansion she called home, her father was also out of the house, always at meetings and press conferences and if the boys are out the house her mother is also out the house.
so yn was really alone.
and she wanted out.
she was tired of the same routine, waking up, going to school, coming home, sleeping.
she laid on her big pink bed, humming along to the lyrics of hoot by girls generation that came from her cd player, she owned every album from the girl group.
yn loved music, she loved the singing, dancing and rapping, she could totally see her self doing that for living.
wait…
isn’t sm entertainment holding auditions…
today.
she jumped up from her bed and and ran down the marble steps of her house while she called her dad.
“hey daddy! I’m going out, where? oh nothing just want to get some fresh air, I won’t leave the gated community I promise.”
she knew if she called the chauffeur to drive her, he would tell her dad. yn huffed as she adjusted her skirt and her pink chanel sweater. she slipped on her Mary janes and turned off her phone.
she was going to have to make a run for it.
yn has never ran like this in her life, her father would kill her if he found out she was doing this but it felt so right.
she ran and ran until she was right in front of the recognizable building, sm entertainment.
she walked in to see a woman standing there with a paper in her hand, she look at yn and raised a brow, “hi! are you hear for auditions?”
“yes,” yn nodded her head, adjusting her sweater, “yes, I am.”
the woman scanned yn’s expensive attire, “really?”
“yes.” yn stated firmly, she could sense the woman’s thoughts, and if there’s one thing her father has always thought her, is to not let people underestimate you, she was above them. “is there a problem?”
yn adjusted her sweater even more, showing off the costum family crest that was sown into her sweater, causing the woman’s eyes the widen.
“oh nothing, the audition rooms is down this way.” the woman says gesturing down the hall, yn’s stern face melted into a kinda smile.
“thank you.” she said before walking down the hall.
as she walked she saw a line of people leaning on the wall beside the room.
yn made her way to join the line, standing beside a girl with bangs.
the girl looked at yn and smiled, “are you nervous?”
“this was kinda a rushed idea, so I don’t know how I feel yet.” yn said looking down at her mary jane’s.
the girl laughed and scanned over yn, “hey what’s up that that logo thing, I’ve seen it everywhere since i’ve been in korea.”
yn looked at the crest, “oh, it’s my family crest.”
“that’s cool, so your family is pretty big huh?”
“I guess who can say that,” yn said before looking at the backpack the girl had, “can you actually do me a favour.”
“depends on the favour.”
“can I put my sweater in your bag? and take it out after the auditions.”
“sure!”
yn unzipped her sweater while the girl opened her bag and stuffed it inside, “thank you so much.”
“no problem.” the girl says before looking at the shirt, “ I like your shirt.”
“thanks, it’s miumiu.”
“that sounds expensive, I’m yizhuo.”
“I’m yn.”
“good luck yn.”
“good luck to you too yizhuo.”
the girls stood in line for about an hour, yn listened to yizhuo talk off her ear about if they both made it into sm all the way until it yizhuo‘s turn.
yn looked at the time on her watch, her family wouldn’t be home for another couple hours, she should be able to get home on time , hopefully.
she watched as yizhuo walked out the room with a smile on her face, mouthing a good luck.
if they weren’t there before the nerves were definitely catching up to yn now, she took a deep breath and walked into the room to see three adults sitting.
she gave them a charming smile and stood in front of them.
“hello.” the woman out of the three said to the younger girl with a smile, “state your name and age.”
“I’m moon yn.” yn looks at the three adults, they were scanning her face as if they were trying to figure her out, “and I’m fourteen years old.”
“okay yn, what’s your specialty?” one of the men ask, looking the girls mary jane’s, how is she gonna dance in those?
“uh…” yn didn’t even know what to say, this was definitely an impulse decision on her end.
“always snacking and writing those poems”
“rap.” she states causing the three to raise their brows in surprise, obviously not expecting the girl decked out in pink to say that, “I love rapping.” she lied.
“show us you skills.” the woman said causing yn to mentally curse herself.
she looked deep into the back of her mind to find one of her writings, shaking off her nerves she recited something she wrote a while ago, her flow becoming better as she went on, trying her best to free style.
as she finished the woman nodded her head impressed, “did you write that yourself?” she asked writing on the paper in front of her.
“yes.”
one of the men hummed nodding his head, “now what song are you performing for us today?”
I guess her days of memorizing and singing girls generation songs and choreography is finally gonna pay off.
“I will be singing into the new world.” yn says shaking out her nerves.
the three nodded their heads surprised, this girl kept surprising them.
“let’s hear you.”
as yn started, all she did was think of the words her family members would tell her, to always show confidence, to show people that you’re better, and that’s what she did.
once she finished, she put her hand on her chest to smooth out her breathing, she can’t believe she just did that, the only time she’s done something like this was in the comfort of her big bedroom.
“thank you yn, you will definitely be hearing back from us.” the woman said to the girl who smiled and thanked them.
yn was about to rush out the room but was stopped by one of the men.
“are you related to the moon family, you look so familiar, like I’ve seen your face on tv.”
yn hesitated, she thought about lying but they would easily search her family up, “yes.” she nodded her head.
all three of them looked even more surprised, but yn had no time for more conversation rushing out the room and bumping into yizhuo, who had yn’s sweater in her hand.
“woah, you’re in a rush.”
“yeah, I have to head home.” yn said taking her sweater from yizhuo’s hand and dragging it on.
“wait can I get your number.” she asked handing yn her phone.
yn rushingly typed out her phone number in the girls phone and rushed out the building.
“it was nice meeting you!” she heard yizhuo yell.
and just like how she got to sm entertainment she got home the same way, she ran miles making her way to the gated community that she called her neighbourhood.
yn was about to make it through her gate, when she heard a familiar sounding car, she immediately ran to the back of the house and climbed the tall fence falling to the ground with a big thud.
she didn’t have time to whine about the pain and ran towards the outdoor stairs that lead to the balcony of her bedroom.
she slide open the clear sliding door and rushed into her room.
she took off her sweater letting out a sigh of relief until she heard foot steps heading towards her room, she threw the sweater across the room and jumped on her bed right on her stomach.
her bedroom door opened to reveal daeun, “dad wants to talk to you.” he said before closing her door.
yn felt a nervous feeling bubbling in her stomach as she got up from her bed and out her bedroom.
it was silent as she went down the stairs to find her father standing at the end of the stairs looking at her with a stern face.
“have a nice walk around the neighborhood?” he looked at yn who laughed nervously.
“yeah I got back an hour ago.” she lied forcing a smile.
“come with me.”
yn nervously followed her father into the dining area where the rest of her family sat staring down at her.
“sit.”
she sat beside jae who side eyed her before looking at their father, she hasn’t had much of an relationship with her brothers now that they’ve have started officially working with the family company.
she could brush of the obvious favouritism towards them when she was younger but as she got older the more she resented her brothers.
her father stood looking at her as she looked down in her lap.
“look at me, we don’t look down.” he said sternly causing yn to snap her head up immediately.
“now tell me why,” he starts, “one of my associates is telling me that they saw my daughter running around the city and entering the sm entertainment building?”
yn winced at the sound of her fathers voice before looking at her mother and brothers that just stare at her waiting for her to talk.
she couldn’t stay silent, if someone is talking to you, you answer them.
“I want to become an idol.” she says quietly, silence fills the air after her words.
“you want to become an idol?” her father asks shocked, why in the world would his daughter want to become an idol, “no, I won’t allow it.”
yn inched up in her chair looking at her father with pleading eyes, “come on dad, just look at it, if I debut and I have a perfect idol image, everyone will praise you for raising such a good daughter and bringing a good image to the family name.”
her father looks at her processing her words the look on his face made her hopeful, “I’ll be the best trainee to exist, I’ll be at the top of everything, I’ll be better than everyone, I’ll show them that the moon family is multi talented and not to be underestimated.”
there’s more silence.
“you’re gonna be at the top of everything, if you aren’t number one of everything I will take you out.” he says looking at yn who couldn’t fight her smile but dropped it immediately.
“thank you.” she replied in a level toned as her father just nodded in response.
“go to your room.”
she rushed out the dinning room and up the stairs to her room, as soon as she closed her door a smile broke onto a big smile.
she heard buzzing from her phone only to see an unknown number.
hey it’s yizhuo, I really hope we get to train together, wanna call rich girl ?
yn couldn’t help but playfully roll her at the nickname before typing out a sure.
she spent the whole night on the phone with yizhuo, she had never talked to a person like how she talked to her, she felt relaxed.
if she gets into sm she really hopes yizhuo gets in as well.
and her hopes came through.
yn squealed on the phone as her and yizhuo opened their letters at the same time, both of them being accepted into sm entertainment, meaning they’ll be training together.
yn will never forget fourteen.
XVI
age sixteen, was a age full of accomplishments and hardships.
she was number one for every single monthly evaluation since she started training at fourteen, living up to her promises she had made to her father.
the compliments that the trainers and senior idols that visited the trainees would say to her felt good, she had grown a passion for the little lie she made in her auditions she loved rapping, it was what she felt comfortable with.
but under all the accomplishments she has had, there was a girl who wanted to burst into tears everyday.
her father really took her words to heart about her being better than everyone, he told the company to make sure yn trained on her own in another practice room, making her isolated from the other trainees.
after a year yizhuo and her stoped texting and calling each other, yn’s head was full of training and being the best that she has barely paid attention to her phone.
she thrived in the praises her father would throw her when she would tell him that she hadn’t slept because she was training so much.
his thats my girls made her feel like she was on top of the word, with her father’s praises she didn’t need friends she didn’t want friends. all she wanted was to make him proud, maybe even have her mother finally notice her.
the other trainees would call her untouchable, and not in a good way she was pretty stuck up in their eyes, with her rich girl mentalities. when she was in the same room as them the aura always shifted she never laughed at jokes, she never cried at harsh feedback, she was always stone cold, when people tried to talk to her she would always say something shady and mean and walk off.
but she somehow came on top every time, even with her in their opinion shitty attitude.
she was like a robot, some of them wondered how she didn’t get tired.
but oh she did.
it was was five am and yn was currently passed out on the practice floor, she had been practicing since the early morning before with zero breaks, she didn’t remember the last time she had eaten anything but that didn’t matter when she was practicing.
voices were heard outside the door but yn didn’t even flinch completely out like a light.
“I never saw her leave yesterday.”
“why do you care yizhuo? didn’t she stop talking to you.”
“yeah but… I’m just worried.”
“is the door locked.”
“I don’t think so.”
“let’s check on her.”
the door creaked open and gasps filled the air, yizhuo and two other trainees jimin and minjeong ran over to yn’s passed out body.
“yn!” yizhuo shaking the girl who could barely open her eyes at the action.
yn tried to open her eyes fully but it was so difficult, she felt yizhuo pull her up to lean against her, “jimin unnie give her your water.”
jimin pulled the water bottle out her backpack and handed it to yizhuo who had to force the water in yn’s mouth since the girl could barely grip anything with how weak she was.
yn leaned against yizhuo as silence filled the air, the three girls looked at her with concern as she attempted to sit up.
“this is humiliating.” yn mumbled to herself as she looked at the three girls with red eyes.
“what happened?” jimin asked looking at the girl that she always thought was at the top of the world who currently looked like she fell off the top of the world.
“I don’t know,” yn said trying her best to keep eye contact with the older girl, “I was practicing and then I wasn’t.”
“you’ve been practicing since yesterday?” minjeong asked the girl shocked, she didn’t have much of an opinion on yn like how the other trainees did, she thought the girl was hard working to be honest, but now maybe a little too hard working, “have you eaten?”
“no, its whatever.”
“it’s not whatever.” yizhuo said looking at yn, “this is crazy yn, you’ve been blowing me off because you’ve been depriving yourself?”
all yn did was lean back onto the girl, exhaustion surrounding her.
“I was wondering how you stayed in shape, I guess the secret is you don’t eat.” minjeong said mindlessly, causing jimin to nudge her.
“hey,” the oldest started, “how about we go to the cafe across the street and get you something to eat, for yizhuo’s sake at least.”
yn looked at the older girl before letting out a sigh, allowing her to pull her off the ground.
jimin had firm grip on yn who could barely stand up as yizhuo and minjeong got off the floor.
“I’m practicing with you in this room for now on.” yizhuo said dusting herself off, “jimin and minjeong unnie are as well now.”
yn side eyed the girl, “I don’t think that’s allowed.”
“I don’t care, right?” yizhuo turned to jimin and minjeong who hesitantly nodded their heads in agreement.
yn stayed silent, looking at jimin In shock when she interlocked her hand with yn and guided her out the door, she barely knew the girl but was already acting so kind.
“I like your bag.” minjeong said to yn as the four of them walked, she picked it up for yn when they left th practice room, “how much was it?”
“actually never mind don’t tell me, It’ll hurt too much.” the girl cut yn off causing the other three to laugh.
yn will never forget sixteen because she acquired three of the most important people in her life at that age, plus another a year.
XVIII
age eighteen was when yn officially thought it was the end of the world.
after letting yizhuo, jimin and minjeong into her life she grew a sense of freedom.
she still worked just as hard as she did at sixteen but this time she had people looking after her, there was also a new addition to the friend group a year later.
yn laughed as aeri took photos of her in the practice room.
the five girls were put into a group together, they were told that they were gonna debut together, yn was just glad that she was debuting and with people she considered her friends.
“no fansite’s please.” yizhuo joked as she stood in front of yn guarding the girl from aeri’s phone, “that’s how we’re gonna act like when we debut.”
“knowing yn she’ll pose for them.” minjeong cut in laughing at the three girls.
“I’m made for the cameras.” yn joked posing for aeri while yizhuo kept blocking her.
“yn your phone is ringing.” jimin cut in on their fun, “I think it’s your dad.”
yn furrowed her eyebrows, why would he be calling her?
she took her phone from jimin’s hands and brought it to her ear, walking out into the hallway, “hey dad.”
“hey honey, I’ve got some news for you.” she couldn’t pin point her father’s tone as he talked, “the company is doing a partnership.”
“that’s good?” yn replied not understanding why her father needed to tell her this, the family barely talked to her about the business, “is that all?”
“no actually, it’s with hybe.” he said into the phone while yn tried her best to understand why he’s telling her this, “okay?”
“meaning you have to leave sm,” he says nonchalantly while yn felt like water had been poured all over her.
her heart was in her stomach, “what?”
“yeah, you’ll be transferred to be a trainee in source music.” he says it like he’s reading off of something, “you’ll be guaranteed a spot in their upcoming new girl group.”
“dad- I’m already in a group- I’m literally debuting in a couple of months.” yn felt like she was gonna throw up, all this hard work, her friends for nothing.
“this is business yn.” her father said sternly, “I can’t have you in company that could be a possible threat to money.”
“but you said, if I stay on top of everything I can stay in sm, I’ve been number one for the post four years almost five years.” she argues, this couldn’t be happened.
“I said you could be an idol if you stay on top of everything, nothing about the company.” her father said.
“dad please.” yn said into the phone her voice cracking.
“are you about to cry?” her father asked sternly, “we don’t do that, stop it.”
“I’m not crying.” yn said looking up, “just this is so unfair, I’ve worked hard.”
“so have I,” her father replied brushing off his daughter’s words, “it’s either you move to hybe or you’re not training anymore.
and with that he hung up.
yn took a deep breath to calm her nerves and opened the practice room door to only be met with four girls staring at her like they’ve seen a ghost.
“did you guys hear anything.” she asked, throwing her head back when they nodded.
“I’m sorry guys, he’s just such-”
“an asshole.” aeri cuts off looking at yn with sad eyes, “so you’re really leaving.”
“I guess I have to, this was just dropped on me out of thin air.” yn trying her best not to burst into tears.
“maybe we can all audition for hybe and become a group there.” minjeong said look at yn who slide down the wall and wrapped her arms around her knees.
“no you guys have worked too hard for that.”
“so have you,” jimin said, “this is so unfair.”
yn shrugged she looked at yizhuo who stared back at her, she could see the tears rushing to the girls eyes.
she smiled weakly at yizhuo who rushed to her side and bursted into tears, “this is so unfair, we were supposed to debut together, now what? you’re back to being a trainee?”
yn and the rest of the girls hugged the crying girl, “it’s okay.”
“it’s not okay.” yizhuo said harshly, “you’re supposed to be crying with me.”
yn couldn’t help but laugh at the girls words, “I’m sorry, I’m just trying to convince myself that this is fake.”
the girls huddled together in silence, “he said I have guaranteed spot in the line up for their new girl group.”
“so I guess we’ll see each other music shows?” aeri tried to lighten the mood, causing the girls the weakly laugh.
yn will never forget age eighteen, it was the year all her hard work went down the drain.
XIX
age nineteen was the age of complete chaos.
yn’s year of training at hybe was a lot, it was draining.
she trained under source for a while and hated it, she met a couple of girls that she was in the lineup with for the new girl group, they were pretty cool but it wasn’t the same as sm, she was the oldest out of all of them and didn’t connect with the girls much.
she had to watch aespa debut from behind the screen while she was stuck in the source music practice room, she still couldn’t believe her father, she always had a feeling that the family business would be put above her feelings one day but I guess she didn’t think that day would actually come.
she still talked to the girls who were now idols but it never felt the same on both ends, they were supposed to be together.
her days under source honestly felt like they were merged into one, everything was the same.
that was until yn was told that she was going to be moved under another label under hybe called ador with five other girls.
the six of them were gonna be the first new hybe girl group.
the girls were sweet, it was obvious all of them looked up to yn as a big sister, they also thought how rich she is was pretty cool.
but it was like the world was against yn because as soon as yn and the other ador girls were getting closer and getting ready for their debut yn got a call from her dad.
yn leaning against the mirror of the practice room, “hello?”
“hey honey did you get then news?”
yn slide down the mirror and say on the floor crossing her legs, “what news?”
“you’re getting moved back to source.” he says nonchalantly, “tomorrow to be exact.”
yn squeezed her eyes, “dad, you’re joking right?”
“when have I ever joked with you?”
he’s right, “so what? just like last time I can’t debut.”
“not exactly, plans changed I was told that your groups debut was gonna be postponed and that another girl group was gonna be debuting,”
yn furrowed her eyebrows she was not told this at all, “so what?”
“so, I told them that you would be a good asset to the group, you’re probably the most talented and would bring a lot of attention,”
“so I’m debuting in another group?”
“yes, you can thank me.”
yn rolled her eyes into the back of her head, “thanks dad…bye I have to tell the other girls.”
as much as she didn’t want to admit it she was excited to finally become an idol, all this hard work would finally mean something.
it was weird walking into that practice room full of other girls that have been working together, she was the new girl.
“this is yn, she will officially be apart of the lineup and will be working with you guys for now on, we’re gonna try our best to help her with the choreography and help her catch up with things, make her feel welcomed, she’s a really important figure, I’ll leave you guys to get to know her for a little.”
she tried her best to ignore the last sentence, her family followed her everywhere like a shadow.
“hello.” she said confidently even though she felt slightly uncomfortable under the eyes of the six girls.
she gave them a charming smile, “don’t worry I’m a fast learner, I think.”
she heard a giggle come from a girl standing in the far right causing yn to raise a brow at her.
“sorry,” the girl cleared her throat, “I’m kazuha.”
yn gave her a smile “nice to meet you kazuha.” she says before looking at the other girls.
she nodded along as they stated their names before looking at the last girl who just stared at her, “and yours is?”
“you don’t know me.”
“no sorry.”
“I’m kim chaewon.”
yn furrowed her eyebrows at the way the girl said her name to her, like she had some sort of authority over she, she didn’t like it.
“I’m moon yn,” yn responded, she didn’t have to say her name, that was already told earlier, but she felt like she had to.
chaewon raised a brow at yn’s tone, “rich girl huh?”
yn narrowed her eyes before turning towards the girl who had introduced herself as kazuha, “you seem cool, wanna show me some of the choreo before we have to start practicing?”
yn hasn’t acted this stand offish since she started at sm but it seemed needed, she couldn’t just let anyone talk to her the way they wanted, that’s not what she was taught.
the girl smiled at yn, “sure!”
as yn let the girl drag her to the other side of the room she heard the chaewon girl say something to the taller girl beside that she learned was yunjin, “this is who we lost ruka to? a stuck up rich girl?”
she decided to brush it off, it was the first day, they would probably warm up to each other.
oh how wrong was she.
nineteen was the age things officially went both uphill and downhill for yn.

Kim Chaewon.
A name that sparked many emotions. To some it was hatred, to others it was fear, to most it was adoration and envy.
Envy was an interesting emotion to Chaewon, for someone to envy her life made no sense to her. Originally Chaewon would have understood, after all she was rich, life was easy to her. But as she looks back in her life, was her life worthy of envy?
She looks back to when she was five, when her sister was born, and the joy she felt when her father left two days after she was born with a mutter of disappointment of it being another girl, and her mother a month later. For them leaving her then month old sister meant it wasn’t Chaewon's fault they never came home, but instead their distaste for being parents in general.
She looks back to when she was eight, as she sees her driver get on his knees and beg to not be fired. A consequence that he is only facing because Chaewon didn’t want to go to piano lessons causing them to be five minutes late.
She looks back to when she’s ten and coming home early due to her father being home, the excitement of seeing his car in the driveway buzzing in her chest as she ran to his office. Only for it to disappear when he kneels to fix her shoelaces and whispers, “Don’t mess this up for me,” in her ear, when he stands another man and a girl her age appear, he only came back for a business arrangement.
She looks back to when she was twelve and begging her mother, who was in Europe, on the phone to let her try cheerleading after finding her mother’s old uniform in a box a maid was throwing out. And the happiness when her mother said yes, as thoughts of her mom taking time off to watch her compete filled her mind.
She looks back to when she was thirteen, sweat pouring down her face as she holds a cheer trophy, the heat of people patting her back in congratulations making her uncomfortable. Her head feeling light as she looked through the crowd with urgency looking for her parent’s faces, they had promised to be there after all. The way her heart dropped when her nanny parted the crowd and headed for her, a look of pity on her face as she revealed her parents couldn’t make it and how they would call her when she got home.
They never called.
She looks back to when she was fifteen and had her first classes without Yizhuo, Minjeong and Aeri. She remembered how a girl, whose name she can’t remember, sat beside her and shared her textbook with her, the shipment of hers being delayed. She remembers the girl’s pretty smile when Chaewon had invited her to sit at lunch with her and her friends. She remembers the way tears filled the girl’s eyes when Aeri loudly asked her what she was doing when she tried to sit at the table, and how she needed to know her place. And most importantly she remembers the pang in her chest when she looked at her for help and Chaewon looked away.
She never saw the girl after that.
Looking back at all of this, Chaewon asks herself, did she have a happy life?
To answer this, she needed to ask herself another question, this one more heavy, who was she?
Happiness has a different meaning to everyone, to know if you’ve had a happy life you need to be able to define what happiness is to you.
And Chaewon had no idea who she was.
If she were to ask others they would probably say Chaewon was a pretty rich cheerleader.
All shallow.
And was Chaewon truly that shallow?
She would love to say no, she was more than just those three things.
But was she? Was Chaewon more than just the pretty rich cheerleader?
She didn’t know.
Sitting in front of her vanity mirror as a woman tugs at her hair so it can be perfect for the night she had waited for since learning of its existence, Chaewon could only laugh, here she was, someone who others saw as the epitome of confidence now struggling with her own self identity, to the point where her own reflection was unrecognizable.
It made her feel sick.
She wants to blame Yizhuo, or even Jihye for this sudden dilemma, but she knows they were just catalysts in the inevitable downfall of Kim Chaewon.
Eighteen years is a long time to not have a sense of self. Too long.
But could anyone blame her? When you’ve never had to make a single choice for yourself, how can you define who you are?
To her parents she was their oldest, the heir to her fathers company.
To her friends she was the “leader” of their group.
To the school she was someone everyone wanted to be.
But as she stares at herself, Yizhuo’s words cycle through her head.
Chaewon was a coward.
“What a nice start,” she thinks to herself. Her train of thought is interrupted by a knock on her door. The door opens after she tells them to enter.
“You look so beautiful,” her mother says with a gasp.
After the night her parents met Jihye, she had expected her mother to leave just like her father the day after. However, much to her surprise her mom revealed she was staying until Chaewon’s graduation. And although Chaewon wanted to be nonchalant, she couldn’t help the childish excitement from the prospect of her mom being home.
“Thank you,” she says back softly.
Her mom nods before sitting on the edge of Chaewon’s bed.
The two sit in silence, the sound of the woman’s straightener closing and opening being the only sound in the room. Once the woman finishes she leaves, after thanking her the two Kims sit in silence once more.
After a bit she hears light thumping, in the reflection of the mirror sees her mom patting the space next to her on the bed.
Chaewon stands from her chair and moves next to her mother, sitting down she finds herself only being able to look at her hands.
“Chae…what's wrong,” her mother asks her.
“Nothing.”
“I can tell that’s not true,” her mother starts as she brings a hand up to Chaewon’s head and pushes back a piece of hair that was curtaining her face, “So tell me what’s wrong.”
Chaewon just shakes her head, she didn’t want to confide in someone that was essentially a stranger to her, even if the child in her wanted to.
She hears her mother sigh before letting them fall into silence. After a few moments her mom speaks again, “It’s that girl, isn’t it?”
Chaewon looks up in shock, she thought her mother had forgotten about Jihye.
Her reaction is all Yoona needed as she gives her a knowing smile, “It is. I’m assuming your fathers reaction had a part in it.”
At the mention of that night Chaewon closes her eyes, physically trying to bite back the nausea that overtakes her anytime she thinks of Jihye and how her actions and what she stood for harmed her.
“Wonnie,” the nickname her mom used to call her whenever she had to tell her she couldn’t make it to one of her events, “Baby, tell me what happened.”
The dam breaks.
Her mom brings her into a hug, and Chaewon immediately melts into.
“It’s okay baby, it’s okay.”
The words cause her to sob even more, like a child she grips tightly onto her mother’s shirt and buries her face into her shoulder.
The comfort of a parent was something she had yearned for for years. And finally, she had it, at the apex of her agony, where she has no sense of self, it was finally here, and it made her want to scream.
After a while she finds herself coming to a natural calm, embarrassment flooding her as she pulls away from her mother. When she gains the courage to finally look up at her, she’s surprised to see her eyes also filled with tears.
Yoona gently wipes her daughter’s face, “Feel better?”
Chaewon nods bashfully.
“Want to tell me what happened now?”
And to Chaewon’s surprise, she does. The words spill out of her like this was a regular thing her and her mom did, but it wasn’t. And maybe that’s why a few sentences in the doubts come in tenfold.
I don’t know why she’s acting like she cares now, she hasn’t for years. I’m going to tell her all of this and for what? Her to go to some other country months on end so she can’t follow up, ridiculous.
Chaewon has to wonder, are these thoughts a defining trait to her? Is spite something she is not only capable of, but something that should be expected of her? She hopes not.
When she finishes her spiel her mother is wide eyed, “Wow, that was…a lot,” she says, causing Chaewon to nod in agreement.
Chaewon waits with bated breath for her mom to continue, she always dreamed of telling her mom these things and receiving what she would deem as the best advice she could ever hear due to her mom’s wisdom.
“However, it sounds like you already know what to do.”
That's it?
Chaewon cannot stop the way her jaw clenches immediately, “What?”
Her mom shrugs softly, “From what you told me, it seems you already know what to do.”
Chaewon scoffs, “Of course, I don’t even know why I bothered. You have no idea what I’m going through, and never have, and that's why it’s so simple for you to write this off so easily.”
Impulsive.
Kim Chaewon is impulsive.
“You know what,” she says while standing up, “You’re right, I do got it. I know you used up all your yearly mother hours so you don’t have to stay anymore and pretend to care, especially over something you don’t understan-”
“Her name was Yuri.”
“What?”
“Kwon Yuri, she and her family inherited a mandarin farm in Jeju but to make some extra money she would work in my family summer home.”
Her mother pauses, before sighing, “She captivated me when I first met her for she was everything I wasn’t. She was kind, humble, resourceful, smart, god was she smart, and most importantly she was free. For the first time in my life, I was enamored with someone.”
Yoona laughs, one filled with a tinge of bittersweetness, “My parents used to wonder why I was so interested in going back to Jeju every summer instead of abroad with them, but I couldn’t tell them that I had…cared for someone who worked for us.”
Chaewon watches as her mother’s jaw clenches slightly, “Then the summer after I graduated came, and my parents revealed they were sending me abroad to study. We, Yuri and I, had written to each other constantly, letters were more personal, Yuri had said back then, but it wasn’t the same, we were growing apart. And then on my twenty-first birthday my parents revealed I’d be getting married to your father,” Yoona pauses, she takes a breath to calm herself, “Yuri…wasn’t happy to say the least. I had invited her to the wedding, which I know was stupid, but part of me back then wished that she’d come, and that she’d…”
Her mother doesn’t finish that sentence, the words “she’d save me,” going unsaid, but Chaewon knew.
After taking another calming breath Yoona looks up at her, a pained smile painting her face, “I tell you all this to say, I may not know exactly what you’re going through, but I know enough to understand, and to know what I don’t want you to go through. I said it sounded like you had it figured out because while you told me everything, everytime you mentioned that girl and the prospect of losing her you sounded just like me when I risked losing…her. The difference between us is you are far more braver than I am.”
Yoona reaches to the space next to her grabbing two papers and handing it to Chaewon, “I had originally gotten these for you and Yeonjun, I see now he is not the one you want, so instead use these for you and Jihye.”
Looking down, Chaewon's eyes widen as she sees two one-way tickets to anywhere.
“Mom, I can’t-”
Her mom cuts her off by putting a hand up, “Go explore the world with her.”
Chaewon’s eyes start to well with tears for the second time that evening, “What if she says no?”
“She might, but she also might say yes.”
Yoona stands from the bed with a clap, “Now let’s finish getting you ready, you have an important night.”
Chaewon nods before pausing, “Can I ask you something?”
“Of course.”
“Do you regret not running after that woman?”
Yoona’s eyebrows furrow as she takes a moment to think, before shaking her head, “No, through I cared for her deeply, if I had ran after her I wouldn’t have had you and your sister, and I know I haven’t been the best mother in the world, but I would never trade you guys for anything.”
Not waiting for a response Yoona sits Chaewon on the chair in front of her vanity, “Now get ready the limo will be here in an hour.”
Chaewon pauses before gasping, “My dress, Jihye said she’d be wearing black today and the one I have planned out is matching Yeonjun’s colors.”
“I’ll have that all worked out, don't worry, just fix your makeup and I’ll bring you the dress.”
Chaewon nods as her mother reaches for her door to leave before calling for her once more.
“Yes?”
“Love you.”
She watches as a tear slides down her mother’s face before clearing her throat, “I love you too.”
And while Chaewon knows this moment with her mom won’t fix the years of pain she’s dealt with, however it’s at least a start.
Tumblr media
The tension is heavy as Chaewon enters the limo.
On one side sat Yizhuo and Wonyoung, a big enough gap to show that Yizhuo was forced to be there with them.
Across from them sat Aeri and Minjeong, both sending glares at Yizhuo, Aeri more than Minjeong.
Since the party the group had not had a chance to make up with Yizhuo, partly due to lack of trying and Yizhuo focusing more on getting Jimin back than making up with her friends.
Chaewon had tried to reach out to Yizhuo but after her fifth text she found herself being blocked, though it had hurt she also understood, she hadn’t stood up for Yizhuo and due to her cowardice Yizhuo had lost the girl she had wanted since she first saw her.
Chaewon decides to sit in between Wonyoung and Yizhuo due to the couple opposite of them being disgustingly close, and secretly she had missed her best friend.
“New color I see,” Aeri comments to which Chaewon just nods back to, “It looks nice.”
Muttering a thanks, the limo falls into silence.
They soon run into traffic due to multiple high schools also having their prom that night.
Breaking the silence Aeri huffs in annoyance, “Okay Wonyoung, what the fuck is up with you?”
The question causes the youngest to freeze as the rest look at her. Chaewon had noticed that the girl was acting a bit strange, but out of consideration decided to not bring it up, Aeri had not done the same.
Yizhuo speaks for the first time since she’s gotten into the car, “Why don’t you just leave her alone?”
Aeri rolls her eyes, “And here comes Captain Yizhuo to save the day.”
“Fuck off, yeah?”
“No why don’t you fuck off? I don’t even know why you’re here, don’t you have a new friend group with your girlfriend?”
At the mention of Jimin Yizhuo sits up straight, “Don’t talk about her.”
“Or what,” Aeri asks, leaning forward.
“I’m dating Yujin!”
The group falls silent, and Chaewon looks at Wonyoung who looks shocked at what she had just said.
“What,” Chaewon asks.
Wonyoung winces slightly, “I’m…dating Yujin. And have been since the beginning of the year. An-And I don’t care what any of you think because I really like her, so!”
And though the girl had tried to say it confidently all the girls could see the nervousness written on her face.
Aeri leans back into her seat before turning to Minjeong, “You owe me that necklace.”
Minjeong groans as Wonyoung looks at the two confused, “What?”
Aeri turns to Wonyoung before shaking her head, “I caught you with the girl the other day in the chemistry lab, she was asking you to prom, I was gonna step in but you accepted, usually I would’ve put you on blast but…due to other circumstances I’ve decided to stay silent.”
Aeri ends her sentence by staring directly in Chaewon’s eyes, tilting her head to the side she gives her a knowing smile, “Is there anything you want to confess Chaewon?”
Panic is not an emotion Chaewon was familiar with, but now as Aeri stares her down, it’s all she could feel. She knows this is her defining moment, what she decides here lays the platform for the rest of her life. As crazy as it sounds it's the truth, if she lies here she loses Jihye and proves her mother wrong, that she wasn’t that brave. But if she tells them the truth, she has a chance to earn that title given to her by her mother, and she really doesn’t want to lose Jihye.
Yizhuo’s scoff is what stops her mind from reeling, “Some things never change.”
That’s enough for Chaewon to speak, “I’m dating Yoo Jihye, and if you have a problem with it I have no issue ending our friendship and keeping it business like it should’ve been from the start.”
All the girls look shocked, except for Aeri, who just looks amused, “You can calm down, I knew already.”
“What? There’s no way you did.”
“You’re right at first I had no clue, until the party. I mean when she approached you I was a bit confused, but I brushed it off she was terribly fucked up so maybe she was confused. But then Yizhuo had her temper tantrum,” this earns her the middle finger from said girl, “and it suddenly started clicking. What tied it all together is how annoyingly bitchy and depressed you became when she didn’t show up last week and most of this week.”
Chaewon’s eyebrows furrows at the revelation, “Why didn’t you say anything?”
“At first I almost did, but like I said you were depressed as hell and I realized as long as it’s not crazy ass Yena or annoying Yeonjun, which I’m still confused about, I can let it slide. This doesn’t mean I understand, cause trust me I don’t, it doesn’t make sense whatsoever. However, since you’re doing all this it must mean she’ll be around in the future and since we’re stuck together I’ll try and understand.”
Chaewon could sob, but she refuses to ruin her makeup for the second time that night.
“Thanks Aeri.”
“Whatever,” she sighs, “This also extends to you two, if those…girls make you happy then so be it.”
Wonyoung immediately thanks her, while Yizhuo just nods.
The limo finally arrives at the venue the school had rented out for the night, a red carpet at the entrance, and one of their teachers acting like a valet stands at the front.
Their driver opens their door and holds his hand out for each girl to use as they get out. As the others enter, Chaewon stops Yizhuo, “Can I talk to you?”
The girl nods, albeit reluctantly and allows the Kim to drag her to the side.
Chaewon breathes out, “I’ve never done this before so bear with me…I’m sorry. I know I haven’t been the best friend to you and I didn’t stick up for you when I should’ve, but I’ve been thinking about what you said and you’re right I am a coward. A huge one, but I’d really like to not be one and-”
Yizhuo cuts her off, “Chaewon, relax.”
“I’m relaxed.”
Yizhuo laughs, “You’re not, but that's okay. You’re right about sucking at that, but I’m thankful you bothered to apologize. The truth is, I was a bit of an asshole too that night, I tried to push you to say you were dating Jihye and it wasn’t the right time at all. I took my hurt from Jimin leaving me and pushed it onto you, so I’m sorry too.”
Chaewon just nods before smiling at Yizhuo, “Does this mean we’re good?”
Yizhuo smiles before hugging the girl, “Of course, like Aeri said we’re stuck together.”
“Wait, how are you and Jimin?”
Yizhuo pulls back, her smile impossibly bigger, “We’re working on getting back together, we’re actually matching tonight.”
With that Yizhuo starts to drag Chaewon inside, both girls happy to have their best friend back.
Tumblr media
Yizhuo had peeled from Chaewon’s side as soon as they entered the venue, looking for Jimin.
Standing to the side, Chaewon took this chance to look for Jihye, though it was proving to be difficult as the room was dark and their senior class was quite big.
Finally spotting her near the drinks Chaewon started to part through the crowd, people trying to stop her to say hi but none of them mattered now that she had seen the taller girl.
As she gets closer she sees Jihye talking to another girl, she immediately starts to glare when she sees its Natty.
“This girl just won’t stop,” she mutters to herself, before stepping closer to make herself known to the two, “Hi Natty, if you don’t mind I need to borrow my girlfriend really quickly.”
She doesn’t give her a chance to respond, the shocked look on her face satisfying enough, as she pulls Jihye onto the dance floor, a soft song playing now.
When she stops she finally faces the taller, everything is suddenly right with the world.
“What are you doing,” Jihye asks her, her tone not harsh but also not welcoming.
“Dance with me.”
“What?”
Chaewon sighs before wrapping the girls arms around her waist and her own around Jihye’s neck. Closing any gap between them she leans up to whisper in her ear, “Dance with me.”
When she feels the girl freeze, she smiles thinking she had her right where she wanted her, until Jihye pulls away from her. Grabbing her hand, Jihye pulls both of them to the hallway.
Once in the hallway Jihye turns to her, disbelief painting her face, “You can’t just walk in and act like nothing happened…”
And Chaewon wanted to listen, but the hallway was a lot brighter than the hall, and this is the first time she had seen Jihye closely since the party
Lifting her hand up she rubs Jihye’s face, tracing the bruises and cuts littering her face.
“Look what she did to you…does it hurt?”
Even though she’s frustrated with the girl she shakes her head, “Not as much anymore, but you would know that if you came to visit me.”
Chaewon sighs before removing her hand, Jihye immediately missing her touch.
“I know, I’m sorry.”
“Why didn’t you?”
“I was scared,” at the look on Jihye’s face Chaewon immediately speaks again, “Not of anyone seeing me, of your reaction.”
“You still should’ve come, I needed you.”
Chaewon frowns at the girl’s words, “I’m sorry, about everything actually. I’m sorry about keeping you a secret, I’m sorry for forcing you to be okay with me and Yeonjun, I’m sorry for calling you selfish, and most importantly I’m sorry for stepping away from you at the party.”
Sighing, she looks away from the soccer player, “I know I’ve made a lot of mistakes, it’s just my whole life has been planned out for me since the moment I was born; the way I walk, the way I talk, how I dress, everything. Due to this I never even considered falling in love, until I met you.”
Chaewon chuckles to herself, “I heard I really suck at apologies so I guess what I’m trying to say is, I know who I am now is not worthy of you, but if you’d let me I’d really like to try and become worthy of you.”
Looking up, she's surprised to see tears filling Jihye’s eyes.
“I messed up again didn’t I? Disregard all that then, let me try this agai-”
She’s cut off by the girl hugging her, “You love me?”
It takes Chaewon a few seconds to catch what the girl said, too busy thinking about how nice it feels to be back in her arms, “I do,” she says after a few seconds.
Pulling away Jihye looks at her, “This doesn’t mean I forgive you, you hurt me really badly, but I really missed you and I really love you too.”
“Yeah,” Chaewon asks with a laugh, her hand going back up to Jihye’s face.
“Yeah,” Jihye says bringing her own hand up to hold Chaewon’s
“Good, this makes my next question easier, what do you think about coming to see the world with me?”
Jihye furrows her eyebrows in confusion, “What do you mean?”
“I mean my mom has gifted me two plane tickets to anywhere and I want you to come with me. Maybe earn you back under the Eiffel Tower,” Chaewon says nervously laughing, “You can say no of course, I know you have to prepare for Andong, but I don’t know I’d just like for you to come.”
“Chae…I..can’t accept that, I mean I can’t even afford that.”
Chaewon quickly shakes her head, “You don’t have to worry about the price, my mom will handle all that, just bring yourself.”
“I don’t know Chae…”
“Please, even if you decide you don’t want to be with me anymore I just would really like it if you came.”
Before Jihye could say anything else a voice comes from out of nowhere.
“Girl just say yes, when the hell will we ever have a chance like that?”
Turning they see Yujin, “My bad I saw you two walk out and decided to follow just in case. Not important, bro you gotta say yes.”
“Excuse me for a second,” Jihye says, pulling away from Chaewon.
Heading for Yujin she grips her shoulder and pulls her into a corner, where they start talking.
And though she should really be worried about what they’re discussing, Chaewon can’t help but notice how good Jihye looks in a suit, especially one matching her.
The conversation ends with Jihye getting hit in the back of the head and Yujin dragging her over.
“She’s going. Also, hi Chaewon, heard you accepted Wonyoung and I, which is like, super cool. Anyways, I’ll leave you guys to plan,” she turns to Jihye, “Be back in within the next 5 minutes before Jimin starts hunting, and you know she’s not as forgiving as us.”
Laughing as the other girl enters the hall again she turns back to Jihye, “I know she said yes, but I’d rather hear it from you.”
Jihye sighs softly, “This doesn’t mean I forgive you,” Chaewon’s heart soars, “like I said you hurt me, but…Yujin is right we never get chances like this and I’d be stupid to turn it down. Being with you is cool too I guess.”
Chaewon jumps on the girl hugging her tightly, “Thank you thank you thank you, I swear you won’t regret saying yes. I will grovel in every single country I swear.”
Laughing Jihye puts Chaewon down gently, “I’ll be holding you to that.”
Chaewon nods, “As you should.”
Grabbing her hand the two fall in a comfortable silence before Jihye speaks again, “We should probably go back in, they’re going to announce prom queen.”
But Chaewon doesn’t move leaving Jihye confused, “Chae?”
Chaewon just pulls Jihye to her, “I’m not in any rush, are you?”
Hugging the shorter girl Jihye shakes her head with a smile, “Nope, I’m too busy thinking about what countries I’m going to be enjoying myself in.”
“Yeah?”
Jihye nods.
Smiling Chaewon looks up at her causing Jihye to look down at her.
“I think I want to do that too.”
“Yeah,” Jihye asks.
“Yeah,” Chaewon answers.
Jihye pulls away with her hand out for Chaewon to grab, “Shall we then?”
Chaewon doesn’t respond instead she grabs her hand and begins to pull them, running through the venues hall towards the exit, a smile on both of their faces.
Kim Chaewon may not know much about herself, but she finds comfort in knowing one thing is certain, she is madly in love Yoo Jihye.

The royalties of Mist were leaving.
For the entire two weeks that they have been here, you refused to talk to, or even look at Kim Hongjoong. The Prince of Mist kept to his promise and kept a distance away from you, but even though he did, you could always feel his possessive gaze on you.
“Goodbye, little Y/n.” The Queen of Mist says fondly, patting you on the head as Beomgyu, at the back, whines about not being her favourite anymore. Your parents had already bade them farewell prior to this. You said your goodbyes politely, sliding behind Yeonjun smoothly once you were done.
You could feel Hongjoong staring at you.
You look up to the carriage. Hongjoong was indeed staring at you. As your gaze met each other’s, a smug smirk tugged at the corner of Hongjoong’s lips. His lips parted and closed, words soundlessly coming out from his mouth. You glared at him from behind Yeonjun, and he smirked again, disappearing from the carriage window.
“Y/n, are you okay?” A warm hand was placed on your shoulder. Yeonjun looked at you in concern, and your anger dissipated. He must have felt the negativity radiating from you. You shook your head and gathered up a bright smile. “I'm fine, Brother.”
You're not. The Queen of Mist boarded the carriage, and you and your brothers stood at the gate, watching them leave. As the carriage disappeared into the distance, what Hongjoong said replayed in your mind.
“See you soon, my Star.”
Tumblr media
You rushed to your room, dismissing all the maids and servants. You headed straight towards your desk, taking out a piece of parchment and a feathered quill.
See you soon? You rolled your eyes. Hongjoong’s threat reminded you of something. You quickly scribbled down the names of the important characters and events of Utopia on the parchment, forming a complicated web upon the paper.
Utopia’s story starts like this: A normal girl Lee Jiwon from a common family had transmigrated into the game after a car accident. She then became the youngest daughter of a fallen noble family in the kingdom of Mist. She then attended the power discovering ceremony when she was thirteen years old, and discovered that she has the power of light and healing - a power only the saintness have. She was then taken to the Temple, where she met Jeong Yunho for the first time. He was the first love interest that the players of Utopia came across.
You drew a line from Yunho’s name to Jiwon, and then you linked both of them to the temple. While at the temple, she also met Kang Yeosang, son of the Southern Duke of Mist. The two met each other at the temple while Jiwon was tending to an injured animal she discovered in the bushes. Yeosang then slowly fell in love with her because of how gentle and kind she was, and so did Yunho. Yunho and Yeosang will then proceed to secretly vye for Jiwon’s affection, but she would be oblivious to it.
You drew a line from Yeosang to the Temple and back to Jiwon.
After spending three years of studying in the Temple, Jiwon will enrol into the Magic Academy of Utopia, becoming a student.
The Magic Academy is a prestigious school attended by royalties and the gifted with magic from all kingdoms. It is built on neutral land, and the closer kingdoms around it are Mist, Miroh and Klaxon It is protected by a mysterious force of power.
In the Academy, Jiwon will then gain the attention of Hongjoong, the crown prince of Mist, because of her status. Hongjoong sent Seonghwa to approach the soon-to-be saintness on his behalf, and the attendant fell in love with her instead. Intrigued by this, Hongjoong decided to approach Jiwon himself.
You drew two more lines, linking Hongjoong, Seonghwa and Jiwon together. Your quill hovered above your name.
You, the villainess Y/n, enters the plot here. You were invited to an event in Mist, and was soon enrolled into the academy. Choi San, the son of the war general of Mist, was picked as your guard. Through him you met Hongjoong’s younger brother, Jung Wooyoung. Through the event, you had fallen in love with Kim Hongjoong, and was jealous of Lee Jiwon. Wooyoung was the one who encouraged you to pick on Jiwon, roping in San to assist you, only to then expose you in front of everyone, resulting in your imprisonment. .
A war between Eternity and Mist began, and you watched your family die before you, before Hongjoong took your head off himself.
You shivered, goosebumps rising across your skin as you drew lines between Wooyoung, San and yourself, before linking your brothers to San.
Although you couldn’t remember what happened next, you knew that Beomgyu was the only person left alive, and was crowned the ruler of Eternity. You stared at his name, before giving out a sigh in frustration.
Your gaze turned to the two more unlinked names: Song Mingi and Choi Jongho.
Mingi is the childhood best friend of Yunho. He had become a love interest after Y/n’s death as he had enrolled in the academy after her event. Jongho, however, was the most mysterious character.
You drew a line from Jongho’s name to another name: ‘Magic Tower’.
The Magic Tower is almost the same as the Magic Academy. However, its learning environment was more harsh and dangerous. Students of the Magic Tower are free to battle and kill each other to take places.
Beomgyu attends the Magic Tower due to his powers.
You bit your lower lip in frustration. You seemed to have found a key, but you have no idea which lock it belongs to.
Carefully, you linked Beomgyu to the Magic Tower, and then to Jongho.
Suddenly, a thought struck you. What if, instead of enrolling into the Magic Academy, you enrol into the Magic Tower?
Besides, you’ll enter the tower one year earlier than him, which means that you do not have to face him. You could just avoid him at the tower and stay with Beomgyu. Since most of the plot happens in the Magic Academy, you can avoid them by going to the Magic Tower.
Right?

Seoul Hospital.
Urgent footsteps echoed off the walls of the cold corridors of the hospital. Kang Taehyun ran as fast as his legs could carry him, apologising profusely to the people he bumped into along his way. His eyes flickered towards the signs in front of the wards, counting them.
06…07…08!
Taehyun stopped abruptly, pushing the door of the hospital ward wide open. Inside, a blonde figure stood up at the sight of him, looking relieved. “Taehyun oppa…”
“How’s Y/n?” Taehyun rushed forwards to the unmoving girl lying on the hospital bed. “What did the doctor say?”
Hiyyih shook her head. She seemed tired, her lips dry and devoid of their usual rosy colour as she sat back down. “They say that they have no idea what happened to her… She just had a shock and slipped into a coma.”
“So she’s okay?” Taehyun’s heart broke at the sight of his little sister on the hospital bed. Hiyyih didn’t answer that, but from her tired expression, Taehyun could only assume the best. “Where’s Kai?”
Hiyyih’s eyes glinted at the mention of her older brother. “He went to check with the doctor about Y/n. I’ve been taking care of her ever since I found her.”
“Thank you.” Taehyun said gratefully. Now that he’s looking directly at Hiyyih, he noticed that she looked terrible - there were bags under her eyes and her skin was paler than usual. She waved her hand, cracking a small smile. “Don’t, we have known each other for years now. Besides, Y/n’s my roommate.”
“Still, I’m glad you discovered her.” Taehyun insisted.
The door opened. Kai stepped in, his eyes lighting up at the sight of Taehyun. “You’re here!” Kai exclaimed, somewhat looking like his younger sister. There were similar bags under his eyes, and Taehyun couldn’t help but feel even more moved. “Yeah, I rushed here as soon as the plane landed.”
“Since you’re here, oppa, I’ll go and take a rest first.” Hiyyih yawned, grabbing her sweater. Kai and Taehyun nodded, as the blonde girl left the ward.
“The doctors say that Y/n’s coma was sudden with no reason.” Kai said, sitting down on the couch where his younger sister had previously rested. “There was no known cause, and Hiyyih said that Y/n doesn’t have any drinking or smoking habits. They sent her down for the CT scan and there was nothing wrong.”
“So she slipped into a coma without knowing why?” Taehyun carefully removed a strand of hair on his sister’s face. “I shouldn’t have flown to Japan…”
Kai paused. He made a face, one that he would wear when he is in a dilemma. Taehyun saw it, and he said, “Is there anything else I should know?”
Kai fiddled with his thumbs. “Well, I know it's an inappropriate time for me to say this, especially when Y/n is lying here, but the VR program for Utopia has a problem.”
Taehyun and Kai have been best friends since young, having known each other when both of them were in diapers. Two years ago, Kai had developed an otome game - a present for his younger sister Hiyyih - and it became so popular that Kai began to gain profit from it. Taehyun was his first investor and the biggest shareholder of his little gaming company, and since then they have been working together.
Recently, Kai had come up with the idea of inducing VR - Virtual Reality - to the game, where players of Utopia can have a more surreal gaming experience. Taehyun had flown to Japan to attend a techshow to know more about it, before he received the call about Y/n.
“That’s not the only problem,” Kai added carefully, watching the frown deepen on Taehyun’s face. “This might sound crazy, but yesterday, when I was trying out the VR version, there was something… weird.”
“What do you mean, ‘weird’?” Taehyun repeated. Kai breathed in deeply.
“You remember the beta version of the villainess route, the one we accidentally released but called back?”
“Yes.” Taehyun remembered, vividly. Kai was spamming his phone with texts and panicking while the rest of his employees tried their best to salvage the situation. Luckily, only one user was able to update the game fully, and they have been trying to contact that player. “It’s about Player 1117, right? Have you found them?”
“No.” Kai shook his head. “But, the thing is, while I was loading the game up to the beta version in the studio, there were some… really weird changes.”
Taehyun raised a brow. “What changes?”
“Remember Y/n, like, the villainess of the game?”
Taehyun almost laughed at that. Yes, he remembered suggesting the name to Kai because he and Y/n had a little squabble, and Taehyun was feeling petty at that time. “Yeah, what about her?”
“She was originally supposed to attend the Magic Academy, right?” Kai questioned, taking out his own phone and tapping away. He then showed the screen to Taehyun. “I was just trying to load the game back, but I just kept failing. When I was going through the cutscene of Y/n’s backstory, it said that she had a big quarrel with her brother about attending the Magic Tower instead of the Magic Academy, so she ran away and left Eternity on her own.”
“How did that happen?” Taehyun grabbed Kai’s phone. On the screen, a picture of a dark haired girl disguised as a young male teenager sitting at an inn, listening to the conversations others were having. Taehyun had not remembered any of their artists showing a storyboard like that in any of their team meetings.
“That’s not the only weird part.” Kai said, taking his phone back. “Remember the villainess was supposed to be powerless?” He paused, waiting for Taehyun to react. “Well, it is said that she developed an ability.”
“What is it?”
“She can turn into an animal at will. More precisely, she can turn into an owl.”

Y/N can't help but laugh at a joke told by her maid of honour. She is out for dinner and cocktails, celebrating what her friends and her older sister affectionately refer to as her "last night of freedom". Shes getting married tomorrow afternoon. Everything appears to be going well until she sees someone she never expected to see again.
Kim Hongjoong, her first and former love, is seated at a nearby table with his friends. Filled with a mix of emotions, she excuses herself from the group of women she's with, mentioning that she needs to use the restroom. She politely declines her sister’s offer to accompany her, and she walks in the opposite direction of the restrooms.
Stepping outside the restaurant into the cool night air, hoping the gentle breeze will help alleviate her overwhelming feelings, she doesn’t notice she's being followed until she hears his familiar voice. It's the same voice that she once adored and found comfort in, whether he was talking, rapping, singing, or shouting at his fellow members.
She turns to face him, unsure of what to say or do. The last time they had seen each other, it had been a whirlwind of anger and heartbreak. Determined to keep her composure, she acts as she hadn’t just seen him a minute ago. "Kim Hongjoong?"
"I heard you were back in town," he says, a look of surprise on his face. His eyes drift towards her hand, fixating on her large engagement ring. "I heard you're getting married." His eyes met hers again with a mix uncertainty and a hint of sadness. "Congratulations."
Avoiding his gaze, she glances down at her shoes and quietly thanks him.
"Are you happy?" Hongjoong is unable to stop himself from asking. Thoughts of her, her happiness, and the impending wedding have consumed his mind ever since Wooyoung shared the news with him last night.
Tears threaten to fall as she struggles to hold back her feeling as she continues to avoid his intense stare and nodded her head. She knows as soon as she looks at him, he will see the doubt written all over her face.
In the weeks leading up to her wedding day, she has been plagued with self-doubt. Is she happy? She believes so. Her fiancé is a good man who treats her well and cares for her. However, deep down, she knows he is not the one she always pictured marrying. The painful truth is that he will never be.
Because the man she had once imagined spending her life with now stands before her, igniting a whirlwind of conflicting feelings. Memories of their past relationship flood her mind, reminding her of the deep and unconditional love they once shared. It was a love that was abruptly cut short, leaving her heartbroken and longing for what could have been.
Even after meeting her fiancée and allowing herself to move on, her thoughts wandered back to Hongjoong often. But it was never intentional. She'd hear his songs on the radio, overhear teenagers at the coffee shop she worked at discussing ATEEZ's latest comeback, posters would be hung up in the music store she walked past on her way to work, and her younger sister, who was a toddler when she and Hongjoong met, will ask about him every time she visits her parent’s home.
She shakes her head, as she gathers the strength to confront her feelings. "I... I'm happy, but not as happy as I used to be," she confesses, her voice barely loud enough for him to hear her. "I was happier when we were together."
Hongjoong's eyes widen as her confession weighs heavily in the air between them. He takes a step closer, his presence enveloping her in a familiar warmth that she has missed. It's as if time stood still, and they are transported back to when their love was all-consuming.
Reaching out, he gently places a hand on her arm, offering her a comforting touch. He smiles, his eyes reflecting a mixture of sadness and understanding. “I was happier when I was with you too.”
It was at that moment the tears began to fall as she finally embraced the truth – she only settled for a good man, because her heart will always belong to Hongjoong. The thought of calling off her engagement crosses her mind. Immediately after, a wave of guilt washes over her.
"It was supposed to be you," she reminds him. "I was supposed to marry you."
"I know," he says, hanging his head in shame. "But I fucked up and now you're marrying someone else."
"I am," she says trying to sound confident as she lifts her head but still won't look at him, knowing if she did, she wouldn’t be able to contain herself. "It was nice seeing you again."
Before he can reply, she turns on her heel and starts walking away from the restaurant, unable to go back inside and pretend nothing just happened.

Y/N enters her parent's home well past midnight, only to find her sister anxiously waiting for her. With a deadly expression, her sister rises from the couch to confront her.
"Where the hell have you been?" She whispers yells, making sure not to wake their parents and younger sister. “You took off from the restaurant and we couldn’t call you because you left your phone at the restaurant. We’ve been worried sick about you. I only just managed to get mum and dad to go to bed. I promised them I would stay up and wait for you.”
"I’m," Y/N lowers her head in embarrassment. She intended to message her sister, but upon reaching the park, she realized she had left her phone behind.
"What's wrong with you? Does it have something to do with Hongjoong? I saw him at the restaurant and wondered if you had seen him too."
Y/N nods in response. Even after leaving Hongjoong at the restaurant, he continued to occupy her thoughts. The more she thought about him, the more she contemplated calling off the wedding. However, guilt would always creep in, reminding her that she is marrying the man that she’s supposed to marry.
"What happened?" her sister asks, her angry expression transforming into one of concern. She’d witnessed the aftermath of Y/N and Hongjoong's breakup, so she knows how heartbroken Y/N was and hoped Hongjoong was just as heartbroken, if not more.
"Nothing," Y/N lies, brushing past her sister and heading towards her old bedroom. "I'll see you in the morning."
"But-"
Y/N cuts her sister off by closing the door, knowing that it wasn't just "nothing".  Y/N had been fine before she left. Her sister was determined to uncover the truth in the morning, one way or another.
Tumblr media
“Oh, sweetie, you look absolutely beautiful,” Y/N’s mother gushes as they stand in the living room, admiring her in the full-length mirror. Y/N just finished getting ready, with her hair and makeup perfectly done.
Y/N attempts to smile, but it quickly falters. The thought of calling off the wedding haunted her all night, as she struggled to push Hongjoong out of her mind.
She’s tried to convince herself that she is ready to move on, that her love for Hongjoong is a thing of the past. And for a while, it seemed like she had succeeded. Her fiancée become her everything.
But, as the wedding day grew nearer, doubts began to creep into her mind. She couldn't ignore the nagging feeling that maybe she hasn't fully let go of her past. When thoughts of Hongjoong resurfaced, she would find herself questioning if she was truly ready to commit her life to someone else.
It isn't fair to her fiancée, who has done nothing but love and support her. She remembers the way her fiancée's eyes light up when she said yes to marrying him. Calling of the wedding, would be an act of betrayal. But is it a betrayal she’s willing to commit?
No matter how much time passes, the memories of Hongjoong refuse to fade. From the early mornings spent together before he had to be at the studio to the late nights she’d stay awake just to make sure he went to bed and got a decent amount of sleep, to being his biggest support during his trainee days. They lingered in the deepest corners of her mind, like a constant presence that she couldn’t escape.
Their relationship had been built on love, trust, understanding, and a shared passion for everything they loved and enjoyed. It was a relationship that evolved into something more meaningful than they ever imagined it would. Despite the challenges they encountered, their commitment to each other never faltered. When he left school to pursue his dreams of becoming an idol, she was there, as his biggest supporter. Likewise, he was there as she pursued her passion in photography, a shared interest they both loved. Every moment they spent together, the good and the bad, left a mark on her heart. After their breakup, she spent so many nights replaying their memories over and over again, wondering where it all went wrong and how they could have fixed it.
With a heavy heart and tears streaming down her face, she desperately reaches behind her, struggling to find the zipper of her dress so she can take it off.
"What's the matter?" Her mom inquires, taken aback by her daughter's behaviour. She noticed her acting strangely throughout the morning, but assumed it was just pre-wedding nerves. Now, she thinks that something more that is troubling her.
The only word that she can get out is, "Hongjoong."
"What does Hongjoong have to do with anything?"
"Please just unzip my dress," Y/N pleads, frustrated with her own failed attempts and her mom's lack of help. "I need to take it off." Her voice grows louder with each word as she becomes more desperate to remove the white garment. Her cries catch the attention of her older sister, who rushes into the room concerned.
“What’s going on?”
“I don’t know,” her mom replies, “Something about Hongjoong?”
At the mention of his name, Y/N collapses to the floor, sobbing. Everything from the past few weeks comes rushing to the surface.
Her sister kneels beside her, embracing her tightly, doing her best to provide some comfort. It's been a while since she's seen Y/N this distraught. Their mother joins them, wrapping her arms around her two eldest daughters.
"Tell us what's going on, sweetheart," her mom coos, concern filling her voice. She motions for everyone else to leave the room to give them privacy. The last thing she wants is for Y/N to feel embarrassed when the gossip train, especially her cousin, starts spreading rumours.
Y/N, through her tears, lets it all out. She tells them about what happened the night before and all the ways she's felt recently. Her sister and mother listen patiently, giving her the room to speak without any interruption. As she finishes telling them everything, a feeling of calmness comes over her.
Y/N's mother, broke the silence that had fallen over them as they tried to think of something to say. "what are the odds of him showing up like that? You haven’t seen him in three years and last night he just so happened to be at the restaurant you’re at. It's like fate was giving you one last chance to reconsider.”
Her mother's words seemed to validate everything Y/N was thinking. The encounter with her ex-boyfriend, just hours before she was set to marry another man, felt like more than just a mere coincidence.
And this wasn’t coming from a place of hate, disappointment or unsupportiveness, on her mother’s behalf. While her parents think that her fiancée is a good and decent man, they had witnessed their her previous relationship, and couldn't help but notice the subtle hints that suggest she is not completely over Hongjoong. When they confronted her about it, she would shrug it off, making it seem like there is nothing to be concerned about. Their advice was not meant to discourage her from moving forward with her fiancée, but rather to ensure that she went into this new relationship with a clear and open heart.
"You're right," Y/N whispers, her voice barely loud enough for her mom and sister to hear.
Her mom reaches out and gently squeezes her hand, offering her support. "Sweetheart, sometimes we get so caught up in what we think we should do, that we forget to listen to our own hearts. It's okay to question things and to take a step back to rethink it over. This is your life. You get to choose who to spend it with.”
Tears form in Y/N's eyes once again, but this time they are tears of relief from having her family’s support. With nothing more to be said, she quickly stands up and rushes to her bedroom, searching for some clothes to change into. Her mother follows behind her and helps her out of the dress. She quickly changes and goes to leave the room but hesitates.
“What about the wedding?” she asks.
“Your father and I will handle it,” Her mom assures her. “Now go work it out with Hongjoong and call us later.”
Her hand still on the doorknob, she hesitates again as her gaze falls on the beautiful engagement ring adorning her finger. With a sigh, she gently slides the ring off her finger, feeling the weight of her decision in her hands.
Turning towards her mom, she hands her the ring. As she speaks, her words are filled with guilt, "Let him know that he deserves someone who is sure of what she wants and can give him the same love that he has given me. Tell him that I’m sorry I couldn’t be that person for him.”
Her mom nods and takes the ring. She hugs her before going back to the door. Taking a deep breath, she turns the doorknob and leaves the room.

Arriving at Hongjoong's dorm, she anxiously knocks on the door, hoping he's inside. As the door swings open, her excitement fades seeing Wooyoung standing there. It's not that she doesn’t want to see Wooyoung, she would be thrilled to see all the guys again, she was really hoping it would be Hongjoong that answered the door.
“Y/N?” Wooyoung asks with a look of disbelief. “I thought you were getting married today,” he continues as he takes her in. She’s standing there in an oversized t-shirt, a pair of denim shorts, her hair a mess and her make up smudged from the all the crying and then trying to fix it. A look of empathy crosses his face. “Are you okay?”
“Is uh… is Hongjoong here?” She asks as her, her anxiousness growing but the second.
He nods looking back towards the inside of the dorm, “I’ll go get him for you. Did you want to come in?”
She shakes her head, “I’ll stay here.”
He nods again and leaves, leaving the door open, to get Hongjoong.
A minute or so later, Hongjoong arrives at the door, the same look of surprise on his face as last night. “Shouldn’t you be getting married right now?”
Shaking her head, “I couldn’t marry him, not when the man I want to spend the rest of my life with is right here, in front of me.”
“But after everything that happened, you should hate me.”
“You weren’t the only one who fucked up, Hongjoong,” she says, her voice filled with sincerity. “Leaving you instead of fighting for you, is the biggest regret of my life. We could have worked it out but instead we let each other go. But I haven’t been able to let you go. You’re always in my mind, in my dreams and everywhere I go. Seeing you last night, made me realize that you’re the still the one who I can see myself spending the rest of my life with.”
Hongjoong's surprised expression slowly transforms into a mixture of hope and uncertainty. He takes a step closer, closing the door behind him so they could talk without the other guys being nosy. His eyes search hers for any sign of doubt.
"Are you sure?" he asks, his voice filled with a vulnerability he often doesn’t express. She reaches out and gently takes his hand, intertwining their fingers.
"I’ve never been more sure," she replies, her voice steady. "I love you, Hongjoong, and I want to be with you."
A wave of relief washes over Hongjoong, and a small smile tugs at the corners of his lips. "I couldn't let you go either. And I never stopped loving you."
They stand there, eyes locked together, and fingers entwined. Their past mistakes and the uncertainty of their future hangs in the air, but they both willing to fight for their love.
"Let’s start over," he finally says, with a new sense of determination.
A single tear of joy escapes her eye. Without hesitation, he reaches out, and lightly brushes away the tear. With his hand cupping her face, he leans in closer, his lips planting to hers in a soft and lingering kiss.
As they part, a smile spreads across his face, showing the happiness he's feeling right now. Seeing him smile, causes her to smile, her own happiness mirroring his.
"What's the bet the guys have are up against the door trying to listen in, right now," he chuckles, knowing his group members well enough to know they will be.
"I wouldn't past them," she agrees just as there is a loud shout from Wooyoung telling someone off for standing on his hand.
“Let’s get out of here,” he suggests, “I’m not ready to share you with them yet,” he adds earning another shout from Wooyoung and groan from the others before the door swings open and arguing ensues.
Y/N and Hongjoong, quietly sneak away, wanting to be alone for a little while longer as they talk and get to know each other again.

you still remember where your hatred for kim seungmin , the son of the high fae of autumn court – you were five years old , your father was second in command to the high fae , it was during a meeting , a meeting you’d soon find out was basically your pre-engagement.
you were playing with another child , when they suddenly stopped. “what’s wrong.” they pointed to the small boy across the fields. “that’s kim seungmin , he’s the son of the high lord.” he sat under a tree , just staring at you two. “should we ask him to play?” your new friend shook their head. “i heard he was mean.”
you flagged them off. “you shouldn’t listen to rumors.” you stood up , walking over to him – you should’ve just listened to your friend.
“hi!” you cheerfully greeted him , he just looked up at you. “do you want to play with us?” he stood , you thought he was gonna say yes , boy were you wrong. instead , the boy who you didn’t even know , pushed you to the ground , you fell with a thud , he just walked past you muttering a “go away.”
you stood up , pushing him back. “you can’t just push people.” he frowned , pushing you back. “i can do what i want , i’m gonna be the next high lord.” this then led to both of fighting out in the grass , tugging at each other’s hair , rolling around in the dirt – until you were pulled apart by your parents who noticed.
“what is going on?” your mother brushed off your dress. “look at your dress , you are a lady , you don’t fight around in the dirt.” you were too busy trying to get at the boy who was being held back by his mother. “he was being a meanie.” you exclaimed. “she was being annoying.” he fought back.
both your fathers stepped in , stopping both of you. “both of you , that’s enough.” your father shouted. “you two are to be the next in line , you should get along.” you looked at the boy who was eyeing you down. “i hate you kim seungmin , i will never marry you.”
that was years ago , you two were both adults , more mature , you would’ve thought you two would be past that , grown to get along – absolutely not , ever since that day , you’d fight every-time you were in the same vicinity you’d fight like cats and dogs , and that’s saying something since you’d basically see each other almost every day.
“both of you should at least try and get along.” lilly , your childhood friend , and lady and waiting said as she helped you into your dress. “i mean you both will have to be married soon , he’s at the age where he is soon to be crowned high lord , and he needs to be married in ordered for that to happen.” you scoffed , turning to face her. “then i guess autumn court will never have a new high lord , because i will never marry that asshole.”
you both made your way down to the dining hall where both of your parents where waiting. “good morning mother , father.” you sat down , the maids jumping to put food on your plate. “thank you.” you said , about to dig into your food , when your mother coughed. “sit up straight.” you sighed , obeying. “can i eat now?” she nodded.
it was a awkward silence , that you caught on to quickly , putting down your silverware. “why is everyone acting so weird today?” you questioned. “i take it lilly didn’t tell you?” lilly’s mother – who was your mothers lady in waiting said. “tell me what lilly?” you turned to your friend. “i tried , i really did , she’s not the easiest to talk to.” you were confused , turning to your dad. “what are they babbling about dad?”
“well honey – it’s time for you to be wed to seungmin.” you laughed. “like hell.” your mother gasped. “(y/n)!” you turned to lily , who weakly smiled at you. “that why you kept bringing seungmin up , traitor you knew this happening.” you scoffed. “she’s your lady in waiting dear , that’s her job.”
“whatever , i’m not doing it.” you said. “they’re many faeries out there , find one and get them to do it.” your father spoke up. “that’s not how that works , this has been in the world since you two were kids” you looked at him. “you don’t see how problematic that is?” lilly and her parents watched you fight back and forth about the subject – until your mother had enough. “there’s no discussing this , you both are adults , he is coming into the crown soon and it’s time for you to marry , no more fighting it , the engagement party is later this evening.”
you stood up , slamming your utensils down , stomping away from the table , lilly following behind you. “how long have you known this?” you pushed the doors to your room open. “a few weeks , i was supposed to tell you about the party a week ago , that’s why i came in that day to get your measurements.” you glared at her , she whined , grabbing your hand. “i’m sorry , but i was scared about what you would say.”
you flopped down on the bed , pouting. “you don’t know what this means , after the engagement party , we’ll have to move in with each other.” you said. “well i do have to move in with you , so.” you eyed her again. “sorry.” she said , realizing she wasn’t helping. “we’ll have to be seen in public together , and act like we like each other.” you shivered in disgust. “i mean , you could actually get along , it’s not hard , you aren’t five anymore.” you turned to your friend. “you’re just my lady in waiting , no longer my friend.”
after more fighting with your parents , which you lost everyone , you were dragged out of your room by lilly , forced into the carriage – literally forced into the carriage , and driven into the forest house castle , which would also be your new home after tonight.
“you do look beautiful though.” lilly tried to ease the mood as you sat and got your makeup down. “of course i do , i just wish it was under better circumstances.” you said. “like his funeral.” you heard a familiar scoff behind you. “very classy.” you rolled your eyes. “you’re not supposed to see the bride before the wedding.” you said. “that’s on the wedding day dumbass.” he rebutted , now standing behind you. “well then let’s pretend it’s our wedding day everyday for the rest of our lives.”
he smirked , putting his hand on your shoulder. “i agree , it is hard to look at you sometimes.” he was trying to get under your skin. “i will set your hand on fire if you don’t let me go.” you spat angrily because it was in fact was working. “okay , that’s enough both of you.” seungmins’ second in command , juhan said. “no need for all this.” lilly said trying to ease the tension.
“why are you in here seungmin?” you said. “you’ve been preparing all for this your entire life , you mean to tell me you don’t know that we have to walk in together.” you turned to lilly , who nodded. “it’s true.” you grumbled angrily , standing up straightening out your dress. “let’s get this over with.” you linked arms with him , his eyes widening. “why are you looking at me like that?” you said , he quickly changed his face. “nothing.” he awkwardly coughed. “it’s just that you actually look like a lady of the court , and not one of the creatures in the woods.
seungmin smirked as he watched your eyes twitched in anger , dragging him down the hall , cursing under your breath , he allowed you to drag him behind , still thinking about the moment in the room – why the hell did his heart skip a beat when you touched his arm?
you guys stood at the doors of the ballroom , waiting to be called in , he stared at your face that was twisted up in a frown , he was about to make a joke to piss you off , but he decided not to and it was right on time , because the door was opening. “future high lord and lady of autumn court kim seungmin , and (y/ln)(y/n).” they announced , everyone looking up to see the new couple.
you two walked through the doors , making your way over to the balcony standing over the people. he unlinked your arms , his arm wrapping around your waist. “smile you idiot , people are watching.” you put on your best fake smile. “unhand my waist before i burn you.” to everyone you both looked like a cute newly engaged couple – but the both of you , your parents and lily and juhan could see the tension as you stood next to him while seungmin gave his speech.
after he was done , you two made your way down the steps , where the party had began to start. “congratulations you two.” seungmins’ mother said , you nodded. “you both will make a fine lady and high lord.” you waited for them all to walk away , before you dropped his arm. “i need a drink.” you walked away.
you found the closest maid holding glasses of champagne , walking over to them , kindly taking a cup , downing back the drink – about to reach for another one , when seungmin ruined it , telling the maid to go serve elsewhere. “are you a heathen?” he said grabbing your arm. “you aren’t supposed to be drinking like you’re in a pub somewhere.” you tried to snatch your arm away , but he was much stronger. “let me go.”
he pulled you closer to him , your face pressed against his chest , it looked like you two were hugging. “you won’t ruin this for me.” he growled. “you can hate me all you want , but when we’re in front of a bunch of important people , you will behave.” you eyes widened , the way he was talking to you , his voice much deeper , it was kinda attractive…
what were you thinking , pushing him off of you. “i-i’ll kill you the next time you touch me like that.” you said bitterly , walking away to find lily , he smirked – he could hear how your heart started to race.
you managed to survive the night , putting on a smile to greet all the different fairies and lords from other realms who travel to see the next on the throne. as the night came to a end , and people began to leave , here came the part you dreaded the most – where you’ll basically be handed off to seungmin officially.
“we’ll be spending our retirement days in peace.” you stood listening to mrs.kim and your mom speak. “that’s great.” for them you thought. “you’ll make a fine lady of autumn court (y/n).” she said. “thank you mrs.kim.” you said , wanting the night to be over.
“this place is all yours now.” seungmin stood with his father and yours. “soon you’ll be wed and then crowned high lord.” he smiled , he didn’t mind that his life was planned out for him , sure the idea of having his wife picked out for him wasn’t ideal , giving that he didn’t necessarily care for his new wife , but he cared about being high lord more. “treat my daughter right , she’s still my little princess.” he wanted to snicker , more like devil in disguise. “i will sir.” he gave your father a firm handshake.
“the rest of your belongings will be brought tomorrow , lilly brought over a few things weeks ago in preparation.” you really should keep an eye out for that fairy. “of course she did.” your mother kissed your cheek , your father pulling you into a hug. “we’ll be going now.” you waved them off , they waved back leaving in the carriage you had arrived in , this time without you.
you waited for his family to leave , the doors shutting , you turned walking away. “where are you going?” seungmin followed behind you. “to bed , i can’t stand to look at you anymore.” you smirked to yourself , making your way to the main bedroom , only to be pushed by the jerk who was your fiancé. “what are you doing you asshole?” you barked. “that’s where i sleep , there are many other rooms , go find one.” You scoffed. “fuck you , you go find another room.”
this lead to you both pushing each other , slinging insults at each other until you got to the room , you quickly laid starfish on the bed. “what a classy fairy.” he scoffed , “move.” you didn’t budge. “no , fuck off , you go find another room.” he rolled his eyes easily pushing your body off the bed on to the floor , sitting down. “you can’t beat me.”
you stubbornly sat on the other side , folding your arms. “sit there then , you brat.” he got up. “but i won’t leave , this is my castle.” you scoffed. “it’s just as mines as it is yours.” you said. “oh really , i’m the high lord , you’re just supposed to stand there and look pretty.” that set you off. “you know what you sleep here.” you threw a pillow at him. “i’ll sleep out in the fields before i even sleep in this castle.” he scoffed. “that’s fine , hopefully you’re eaten.”
you stopped turning around. “that’s why everyone hates you , you’re such a egotistical jerk , and everyone would rather die than be around you.” you spat , he stood up off the bed. “shit the fuck up.” he said but you kept going. “the only person you have is juhan and that’s probably because he has no choice , you are such a miserable fae- hmph!” your voice was cut off by his hand wrapping around your throat. “you just keep running your mouth , i said shut up.”
his eyes were dark , his voice sending shockwaves in between your legs. “you been nothing but a fucking brat all night , didn’t i tell you to behave earlier?” he squeezed tighter , you gasped. “l-let me go.” you stuttered , he smirked. “why is it turning you on?” you scoffed , pushing him , but he didn’t budge. “you wish.” you said , but you were bluffing , and he could tell – letting you go , you gasped for air , glaring at him. “fucking asshole.”
“take your dress off.” he ordered. “fuck you , no.” he stared down at you , you were dripping now , panties soaked. “take it off , or i’ll burn it off.” couldn’t tell if he was joking or not , and you kinda wanted to find out , but deciding not to , you slowly undid the side zipper of the dress , letting it fall to the floor.
his eyes fixed on your body , you tried to shy away , but he grabbed your arm , pushing you down to your knees. “gotta train you little fairy.” he undid the button to his burnt orange slacks , letting them fall to the floor. “train you to be a good little fairy and not a brat.” he pulled his cock out , red tip dripping with pre-cum , slapping it on your face. “open your mouth.” he pressed his tip against your lips , you parted your lips slightly and he pushed himself inside.
he groaned , grabbing your hair , guiding you up and down on his cock. “suck my cock right.” the faerie pushed you head down fully on his cock. “fu-fuck!” he groaned , as you bobbed your head , hollowing cheeks sucking. “you’re not that bad , must be used to sucking cocks.” you rolled your eyes. “do-do that again and see what happens.” he growled. “sh-shit , keep sucking.”
he grabbed your head , keeping it still as he moved his hips , messily fucking your throat , gagging and gurgling on his cock making him smirk. “there you go , take my cock down your throat.” he groaned. “making such a mess on my cock , what a nasty faerie.” he held your head against his pubic bone. “fuck!” he pulled your head away , you gasped and coughed. “get it together i’m not done.”
he grabbed your arm , pulling you up , pushing you down on the huge bed , face down ass up. “look at that pussy , all wet.” he slapped your ass. “you’re supposed to hate me so much , but here you are , dripping just from sucking my cock.” he yanked your underwear down. “you’ve probably been wet since earlier on dance floor.” you yelp as he slapped your ass. “fucking answer me.” he said. “yes , fuck!” he chuckled. “fucking slut , is that what you wanted this entire time.” he got on the bed behind you , rubbing his cock against your folds. “for me to fuck you.” he pushed his tip in. “treat you like a slut.” he slammed inside of you. “fuck!” you screamed , he held your waist fucking into your cunt.
“sh-shit such a tight cunt.” he grunted. “claiming you hate me , but here you are clenching around my cock like a slut.” he slapped your ass. “is that all you wanted? Hmm , to be my little cock drunk faerie?” you nodded , he grabbed the back of your neck. “answer me slut.” you nodded , feeling your orgasm approaching. “ye-yes fuck , please i’m gonna cum.” you moaned. “hold it.” he slapped your ass. “c-c-can’t.” his thrust began to become unsteady , his balls hitting your clit urging your orgasm. “ngh fuck , cum now.” on his command you came , he pulled out of you painting your back with his warm cum.
he didn’t say anything , getting up walking into gigantic bathroom , you heard water running , then turning off. he returned back with a cloth , wiping you off. you watched him , his touch was much softer , he looked deep in thought as he cleaned you up. “the maids left this out for you , put this on.” he handed you a night gown , turning away from you , like he didn’t just see you naked while you got dressed.
he quietly helped you into bed , getting up about to leave. “where are you going?” you questioned. “you don’t want me in here , i won’t disrespect you anymore , i’ll leave you be.” he was about to make his way out when you stopped him. “come back to bed.” you said , he turned to you confused. “don’t make me say it.” you furrowed your eyebrows , folding your arms stubbornly. “say what?” he sat back down on the bed. you turned your head , but he grabbed your jaw , forcing you to look at him. “say what.” you whined. “i’m sorry.” he smirked letting your face go. “i guess i did go too far this time , it’s just that you sometimes make me so upset.” you said. “that’s only because you insult me first.” he said. “only because you’re rude to me , you’ve always been rude to me , ever since we were kids.”
“are you still on about from when we were five (y/n) , i was five , i didn’t know any better , i only treated you like this because you acted like you hated me.” he said , you pouted. “well now i just feel stupid.” you said. “that’s because you are stupid.” he said flicking your forehead. “come here.” he pulled you close to him. “you want me to apologize for what i did as a kid , will that make you feel better?” he squeezed you. “we’ll be married soon , and i don’t want this to be a problem anymore.” you nodded. “yes , yes i do.” he hummed , kissing your neck.
“i’m sorry.” his hand came up to your thigh , slowly creeping up to your night gown. “s-seungmin.” you moaned. “i’m so sorry for pushing down and hurting your feelings all those years ago.” he cupped your heat. “i’m gonna make it up to you okay.” he rubbed your folds.
“let me make it up to you.”

I'll crawl home to her ~ k. mj.
a/n: only one week late woo!! improvements are happening, y'all!! happy belated jiu/minji day! wrote this at the request of @dark-night-insomniac - enjoy, my platonic soulmate <3
tw: arranged marriages, love at her sight trope, running away from responsibilities (me too), quick mention of blood, reader is a professional little shit
wc: 1.8k
summary: your party-crashing antics go awry when you sneak into the engagement party that celebrates the union of the oldest Kim girl and another high-ranking member of society. you don't expect that Kim girl to be Minji, the one you've been dreaming of for weeks, or for Kim Minji to recognize you right away.
♡ Masterlist ♡
Tumblr media
To mask oneself is often a way of hiding emotions, to shield yourself from any physical, mental, or emotional harm. A mask hides your identity from the world and yourself, if you keep the mask on long enough. For you, a mask was most useful for some good, old-fashioned hell-raising.
Dressed in your second-best outfit (to sneak into the party required going through a muddy stretch of road, and your maid would’ve had a fit if you got something on your future engagement outfit), you slip past the guards and head inside of the Kim manor.
You adjust your mask as you’ve landed directly in enemy territory - the Kim family and yours have been feuding for many generations- and you didn’t need the backlash from your appearance.
Siyeon links her arm with yours as you navigate through the party, one that was supposed to celebrate the engagement of the oldest Kim girl to another. You felt bad for the girl - the Kim family was old-fashioned, and had taken to arranged marriages to marry off for the girl. At least your family lets you decide on your marriage partner, even if the stuffy clothes and constant public appearances could be a little much for you.
“Are you sure this is a good idea?” Siyeon whispers as you hand her a vial filled with a red liquid.
“No, but it’ll be hilarious if we manage to pull this off.” You say as she hides the vial within the deepest pockets of her overcoat.
“Why do I have to help with all of your schemes? Why not drag along one of my cousins?”
“Dami would never agree to do something this daring, and Gahyeon would babble to her parents and get us caught before we even started.” You explain before placing a hand on her shoulder. “Remember, if you get caught-”
“-Play the foreigner card, I know.” Siyeon finishes your statement before smiling to herself. “My life would be too simple if we weren’t friends.”
“There’s the Siyeon I know.” You rub her shoulder before offering her a parting sentiment. “Be careful, and make sure to keep your head down if you run into a Kim.”
“Got it.” She blends into the moving crowd too easily as you allow yourself to be pushed towards the main center of buzz and activity. The gardens surrounding the manor are gorgeous, but they don’t hold a candle to the interior of the manor itself.
The ballroom that you find yourself in is expansive and wider than you could’ve imagined, covered head-to-toe in expensive wallpaper, flooring, and decorations.
“It’s beautiful.” One of the party-goers stares in amazement as another comments on the interior.
It’s tacky, you think as you automatically roll your eyes, and you’re impressed too easily.
Is your home nearly as fancy as this? No.
Do you feel a small spark of jealousy within you? Perhaps.
You drown the negative feelings with a glass of champagne. Maybe two glasses would be the best way to enjoy the fireworks to come?
It’s all fun and games, games that you’ve played plenty of times before, until you see her.
You know who she is - she’s a Kim girl, but you were completely unaware that she was the oldest Kim girl.
Your first and only interaction with her happened when you were out with Siyeon, playing around as you normally did.
“Ah, I apologize, ma’am.” You bow to the girl who you’ve nearly sent tumbling to the ground, all because Siyeon has bad aim.
“No, it’s alright, my dress is the only thing that is harmed.” She turns and shows you the small amount of mud on the bottom of her skirt.
“Let me pay for it,” You say before noticing the Kim family crest on her attire, “and I can walk you home if you’d like?”
“That would be wonderful, thank you.” She nods before taking her arm. “Forgive my rudeness. My name is Kim Minji.”
“Minji,” You repeat to yourself, “what a lovely name.”
You both had chatted for hours, long past the time it would take to clean her dress and walk her back to the manor. Minji never questioned how you knew exactly where the manor was, or the fact that you made a few shortcuts to avoid your home.
“Thank you for your utmost kindness,” She smiles before pressing a soft kiss to your cheek, “and good night to you.”
“Good night.” You mumble to her as she lets go of your arm and heads inside of the gates.
It was worth the lecture from your housekeeper for being late to dinner, and you weren’t able to keep the smug smile off of your face until you fell asleep that night.
You never forgot Minji, she was the girl in your dreams. The one you’d dream of running away from this fanciful life with. You weren’t sure that your feelings were mutual - you only met her once, of course.
Minji looks radiant in her princess-style dress that spills out over her feet and onto the floor. You’d swear she was a princess herself if the family crest on her arm didn’t give away her current familial standing.
You notice that her fiancé is off in the distance, drinking a little more than they should. They weren’t royalty, not by any means, but a respectable match for a lady of Minji’s standing.
Minji greets a few of her closest friends and family before wandering into the crowd. You find yourself pushing through the many people inside of the ballroom, wondering if you’ll even be able to catch her before she sees the one she’s supposed to marry.
Luckily, the crowd breaks just enough for you to see the back of Minji’s dress. Once you’re an arms-length away, you lightly tap her shoulder as you think of something to say.
“Thank you for coming to my party, you’re-” Her beautiful smile causes your heart to pound as you’re left speechless. “You’re the stranger from a few weeks ago, the one that helped clean up my dress and walked me home.”
“How did you know it was me?” You ask.
“I could recognize you in a crowd of millions, and besides,” She leans in close to you, “I saw the family crest on the inside of your overcoat.”
“Ah,” You shyly pull the overcoat closer to your body, “you know my secret, then?”
“It wasn’t much of a secret to begin with, really.” She shrugs before backing up and laughing. “What mayhem are you here to cause?”
“I wasn’t-”
“-I know of the things you’ve done, and I must say, I’m quite… amused by you.” Minji folds her arms after fixing her hair. “You have such a notable reputation.”
“Now you sound like my mother.” You roll your eyes before silently laughing. “I knew you were a Kim girl, and I was surprised by your kindness and grace. My parents had raised me to hate your family, but I’m starting to think that they were just blinded by past feuds and bitterness.”
“We should make new beginnings for ourselves, then. Wipe the slate new.” She offers you her hand, which you gladly take. “To new beginnings?”
“To new beginnings.” You take a sip of your champagne as she squeezes your hand.
“May I tell you something, in confidence?” She asks as a waiter takes your empty glass.
“Of course, Minji, you may.” You let go of her hand as she takes your arm and leads you to a nearby balcony.
“In all truthfulness, I haven’t been able to sleep without seeing your face. You’ve managed to consume my sleeping moments, as well as some of my waking ones. I never knew how someone could be so enchanted by a stranger, but you, you’re… so different.” Minji softly confesses to you. “I was okay with the arranged marriage, it was always going to be a part of my life as a Kim, but now I want so much more.”
“I’ve felt similarly, in all honesty. I never was one for balls and suitors, but you have completely changed my mind. My foolish tricks were not the only things that brought me here tonight. I was hoping you would see me, and maybe I would have a chance, but…” You trail off as you stare at her fiancé. “You have someone here for you.”
“I-” She pauses as a guard storms into the ballroom.
“There appears to be… unsavory company in our midst. We are requesting all attendees report to their nearest guard to be checked for the family crest that they adorn.” The guard announces as a few more appear behind him.
Well, shit.
“C’mon, I know of a secret passageway. I can help you escape.” Minji pulls you towards the exit as you try to hide your face with your overcoat.
~
Your escape from the party was a lot less eventful than you expected. You ended up in Minji’s private garden when the passage door closed behind you.
“I don’t think I will be able to express my gratitude for you, Minji.” You say before sitting on a park bench.
“It was my pleasure to help you.” She gently pulls up her skirt before sitting next to you. “Pray tell, how will you make your daring escape?”
“The hedges aren’t too tall or thick, so I could climb over or squeeze through them, depending on the durability of my pants.” You lightly pick at the stitching as she laughs. “Then, I will use the nighttime to sneak away to my home, where my housemaid will surely belittle me until I fall asleep.”
“It sounds perfect, except for one thing.”
“What’s that?” You tilt your head in confusion.
“Doesn’t the adventurer, after escaping near death, need to show their affection for the love interest before they leave?”
You chuckle before lightly smacking your head.
“Of course, how could I forget?”
You lean in and softly kiss her lips as her arms wrap around you. You deepen the kiss as your arms meet her waist, and you find yourself missing her lips as soon as they leave yours.
“Would the love interest like to travel with the adventurer, explore the world a bit, before settling down?” You unwrap yourself from Minji before standing up and offering her your hand.
“What would their family and friends say?”
“Nothing bad, if they truly cared for the person they were traveling with,” You smile as she grabs your hand, “and I truly care for you with all of my heart.”
“Then I suppose a bit of traveling couldn’t hurt, then.”
The two of you wander into the night, far away from the places you call home, in hopes of finding what truly lies behind the walls that have entrapped the both of you. Maybe you’ll find peace, or another place to stay.
Or maybe you’ll realize how much you need Minji, how you’d crawl home to her from the pits of hell if you had to.
Maybe you’ll find nothing at all and return back to your normal lives.
But as you hold Minji’s hand and run through the forest with her, it seems like everything is possible. The world is at your fingertips, ready for a new story to be told by a new generation.

Tumblr media
“y/n did you forget you have manners class today? get up!” your mother was the one to wake you up after your maids failed attempts, she pulled your blanket away and you groaned.
manners classes always annoyed you. probably because it had something to do with ‘how to act in front of your future husband’ rules and manners.
“do i have to go?” you whined. your mother raised her eyebrow, “did you really just ask me that question?”
you rolled your eyes and got up, “i’m up, you can go now”
she left your room without saying anything else. you sighed loudly and sat on your bed.
“good morning your highness, let’s get you ready” one of your maids smiled softly at you.
“give me only five more minutes” you begged and she shook her head, “your mother will get furious if you’ll be late”
you closed your eyes in defeat, you know she’s right. sometimes you wish your mother wouldn’t be so strict about everything in your life.
after getting ready you rushed to eat dinner with your parents, who were already waiting for you.
“mother, father” you greeted them, without even a good morning.
your relationship with your parents is quite weird. if you’d be asked to address it you would’ve said its a co-workers relationship. you barely talk about your problems with them, nor they ask about your well-being. all they care about is royalty, royalty and royalty.
“have you heard? hybe’s kingdom will have a ball for their youngest’s birthday” your father spoke.
“oh yes! i saw the invitation” your mother answered, “it’s a no-adults party except for his older brothers, y/n you’re invited there”
you glanced at your mother who was busy cutting her bread, “hm?”
“hybe kingdom invited all younger royals to celebrate the youngest son’s birthday, you’re definitely going!!” your mother smiled.
“you’ll be able to meet your future husband there! we didn’t want you two to meet up yet but who knows, maybe it’ll be a start of something” your father added.
“we’ll tell you into more details later, now go to your class! your teacher is waiting” your mother ordered and you did as she said.
you’ve had manners classes as soon as you turned into a beautiful young lady, according to your mom, you should’ve taken them earlier—so you’d be more prepared and will have some manners in front of her friends.
when you turned fifteen, your family already informed you they decided on your future husband, and you had no option to resist, they forced this marriage on you and didn’t even give you the chance to say no.
you’ve never heard of the man, you don’t know anything about him. the only thing you do know is that you’re going to get married to him as soon as you turn 21 which means, your clock is ticking and you’re slowly going out of options.
ever since you can remember yourself, you wanted your own fairytale love story, a one love story that will make anyone envy you, a one true love story you can use when you want to tell your future kids a night story, a one true love story where you’d be the one to pick the person you’ll spend the rest of your life with.
your parents however, thought it was a good joke, and always used to laugh at it.
“true love story? there’s no such a thing” your mother always says.
“we got married for the benefit of our kingdoms, and we fell in love through the marriage, you’ll get to experience it too” your father adds.
“marrying someone you don’t know isn’t that bad! you’ll get to know each other after the wedding” your parents both love to laugh about it whenever they could.
your manners class should’ve been called ‘how to be a good wife’ class in your opinion, you learn nothing other than how to behave around your future husband and how to take care of him. stupid primitive royalties.
“good morning y/n, let’s get to class quickly” your teacher who had been waiting for you in your usually room greeted you and you greeted her back.
“what do you do if your husband tells you that he’s tired from duties and he’s hungry but the maids are already asleep?” you teacher asked.
you sighed before answering, “i get up and massage him, then go to the kitchen and make him something the eat”
your teacher clapped her hands in excitement, “that’s all for today, good job!”
this life is tiring.
when you look at your other friends who you’ve met in ball events, they seem to enjoy their single life. none of them was promised to marry someone they don’t like, so where did you go wrong?
feeling too tired from class, you decided to go and take a short nap, it wouldn’t hurt to go back to sleep right? it’s not like you have something important to do anyway.
before going to nap you laid down on your bed and stared at the ceiling.
“will i ever get to meet the person i would choose to marry?” you asked yourself before you drafted to sleep.
“sunoo!! focus!” while you were sleeping loudly, the fifth prince of hybe kingdom was busy taking manners class.
“i was just now at (your kingdom’s name) kingdom, how come it’s easier to teach ladies than gentlemen?” his teacher complained.
his teacher is your teacher as well, but of course both of you doesn’t know that.
“i apologize” sunoo quickly then bowed as an apologetic gesture.
“focus!” the teacher tsked and sunoo sat straight.
“if your wife comes home from duties and she tells you she’s quite tired, what do you do?” she asked.
“i’d ask her to tell me how her day was and i’ll make her some food” sunoo smiled widely and the teacher shook her head.
“no, no, no! you ask your maids to make her something to eat!” his teacher sounded disappointed.
sunoo pout, he didn’t understand the logic behind it all, a husband needs to take care of his wife, and what are those manners classes? who made those stupid classes anyway?
out of all 7 brothers, his parents chose him as the one who needs to suffer the most in his opinion.
sunoo is the only one who has been taking manners classes, and he’s the only one who’s promise to marry someone he doesn’t know.
does his parents think he won’t be able to find someone he’d like to marry?
“that’s it for today, practice and study more! for the next time i want you to be better” the teacher left without giving him a chance to send her off.
she must be really angry then, huh?
sunoo then sighed and gathered his papers.
“tough day?” he heard a voice and shoot his eyes to the figure who was standing right at the door.
“you could say that” sunoo nodded and dropped his glance.
jungwon pitied his older brother, he has always been the one to suffer from their parents’ endless bickering, and jungwon always wondered why’s that.
“just hold it in for a while, it’s going to end soon” jungwon walked closer to his brother and pat his shoulder.
sunoo groaned, “easy for you to say, you already basically know who you’re going to marry”
jungwon smiled a bit, “mom and dad are starting to get on your nerves, aren’t they?”
sunoo nodded, “can’t they just let me live my life the way i want to?”
a door slammed and you woke up immediately.
“i apologize your majesty, the queen asked me to wake you up from your nap” one of your maids said, “she wants to meet you in the garden”
you dismissed your maid and went down to your castle’s garden, your favorite place on earth.
“mother,” you called her, “you were asking for me”
your mother who was sitting on one of the benches turned her glance to you and smiled, “do you know why i called you, y/n?” she asked.
you shook your head and moved closer to her.
“your wedding of course!” she opened her arms and hugged you.
you let out a big sigh, of course! why would she want to talk with you about anything else?
“i’m joking, joking” she giggled, “i was a bit bored, i wouldn’t mind some company”
you nodded and proceeded to sit on the bench next to her. both of you sat in silence, she looked pretty relaxed, but you’re always being extra careful around her.
“have you ever heard of hybe kingdom?” she suddenly asked.
“no, the only thing i know about them is that they’re seven siblings, and each one is soon to get a throne”
“their family is quite weird i must say,” your mother chuckled, “the oldest son is going to marry a commoner! can you believe it??”
you nodded, “if they really do love each other, they deserve to be happy together”
your mother looked at you in disbelief, “it’s not a good reason to break a royal rule!” she argued.
“what royal rule? they’re ancient and no one’s even looking at them anymore!!” you argued back.
“ancient or not!! a royal rule is a royal rule!!”
“sometimes love is more important than a stupid rule!!”
“you—“ your mother stopped for a second to take a deep breathe, “if that’s another way of you to try and convince me to let you marry whoever you want, it’s not going to work”
you rolled your eyes and looked away, “you don’t even realize how important it is to me” you mumbled and she stayed quiet, completely ignoring what you’ve just said.
“you’re going to meet your soon to be husband at hybe’s kingdom party, you should be prepared”
eventually you left her alone and went back to your room, you had nothing to talk about together anyway.
“there you are sunoo!! we’ve been searching for you!!” hybe’s queen remarked.
“hello mother” sunoo whispered.
“your teacher told me you’re not doing well!! sunoo, what’s wrong with you?” she raised her voice and sunoo shut his eyes.
“if you’d just let me feel free and let me do what i want maybe i’ll be able to be mannered enough for you!” he spoke back and his mother stepped back.
“sunoo!!”
“what? did i say something wrong? instead of letting me find someone i’d truly love and want to marry, you’re forcing me into it!” he raised his voice back.
“this is not up to discussion!! your marriage is final!” his mother fired back, “it’s okay if you dont love her now, you’ll force yourself into it and eventually fall in love!”
sunoo sighed and tears filled his eyes, “you’d never let me live the way i want to, would you?”
his mother stayed quiet and he slowly nodded, “got it” he whispered and went to his room.
the next mornings felt all the same, manners class and getting back to sleep, it was the same for sunoo, other than the fact that he had to help his younger brothers with their own love stories. love stories that he’d never have.
“i don’t know what to do, it hurts, i miss her” jungwon cried to his older brother as he hugged him and suggested him a few steps.
looking at his brothers living freely as they want made him really happy for them, but also envy them for being their parents’ favorite in his opinion.
eventually, ni-ki’s birthday came and everyone around the castle were busy getting ready.
“good morning sunoo! time to get ready” the maids said and he barely got himself up.
“you’re going to meet your soon-to-be wife!! isn’t that exciting?” jay, who came in together with sunoo’s maids, decided to tease him a bit.
sunoo groaned and covered himself with his pillow.
“get up sleepy head! it’s your brother’s birthday today!! at least wish him a happy birthday!!” jay took the pillow and threw it at him a few times.
sunoo really didnt want to wake up today. dont get him wrong, he loves his brother, its just something about today that makes it extremely hard for him to wake up.
“right, what was her name again?” this was the exact reason sunoo couldn’t wake up, his parents couldn’t even recall his future wife’s name!
“nevermind, you need to go get ready!” his father commented.
“you’ll know it when you see her, she’s awfully pretty!” both of them said and pushed him back to his room to get ready.
“oh my dear! you’re awfully pretty!” your mother clapped as you gave her a twirl of your dress.
“you’re only saying that because you’re my mom” you scoffed and she shook her head.
“you really are really pretty, our pretty princess” your father got involved and smiled.
you gave them a short smile, “thank you—“
“can you believe it? you’re going to meet your future husband!! are you ready for it?” your mother stepped closer to you, cupping your cheeks in both hands.
“no” you sighed. “well then, be ready for it! we don’t want him to think you’re messy and unorganized”
what does not being ready for this even have to do with being messy and unorganized??
you just nodded and closed your eyes. if you start crying now, the beautiful makeup your maid had put on you would get ruined.
“we’re so proud of you, y/n” both of them said and you just nodded.
“oh! you look exactly like a prince” his brother sunghoon remarked. “i didnt look like one up until now?” sunoo rolled his eyes but sunghoon only chuckled.
“hey im just joking, you look really good sunoo” the older complimented him and sunoo smiled, “thank you”
“off you go!! enjoy the party!” your parents said as they sent you off to hybe kingdom, with a thumping heart you smiled and nodded.
five minutes into the drive and it finally sank into your mind, your parents never mentioned his name, not even once.
quick!! what should you do?? risk it all and just continue the drive and hope to find him in mysterious way? or get back to your parents and ask them for it??
obviously option one is the best option.
“we have arrived, your majesty” your driver informed you and went out to open the door for you.
you took a few deep breaths, “you can do it”
as you got out you saw lots of princesses and princes, all entering the big and beautiful castle.
“please welcome princess y/n from (name of kingdom)” the door opened for you and all eyes were on you, you hated it, you hated this welcoming.
it was somehow a royal thing, to inform of a royal entering a castle, but then what? it drew everyone’s attention to you.
you felt everyone’s gaze on you, mumbling nothings and whispering whatever. you slowly entered deep into the crowd until the other royals didnt care about you anymore.
“hello there, beauty” you heard someone say, you turned around to meet with a very pretty looking guy.
“hello” you replied back and extended him your hand for him to kiss.
you hated this too, the feeling of a stranger on your hand, why was this even a royal rule??
“i couldn’t stand seeing you alone so—“
“and finally, please welcome the hybe family” all of your heads turned to the door.
first one to enter was prince heeseung, you could see him searching for a specific person in the crowd and as soon as he saw her, he smiled.
second to enter was prince jay, he looked super focused, he too, was searching for a specific person in the crowd.
third to enter was prince jake, he looked so peaceful somehow, as if he already knew where was the specific person he was searching for.
fourth to enter was prince sunghoon and god, his visuals were no joke, whoever will end up with him definitely won a handsome one of a kind.
fifth to enter was prince sunoo, as soon as he entered you felt as if the world had stopped.
you two somehow made an eye contact for a few good seconds, as if he already found the person he was searching for.
is he….? no, he can’t be, can he?
the voice of the welcoming of the sixth prince woke you up from your deep thoughts.
sixth to enter was prince jungwon, he looked around, smiling at everyone while obviously trying to search for someone.
“and lastly, please welcome the birthday boy, riki!” as the seventh prince riki entered, everyone clapped and cheered.
only he, was smirking at everyone. he was definitely up to something.
as the party started, you started to feel tired. what if you just ditch early? no one will notice anyway.
you started walking towards what you thought was the exit, turns out it was a door for the castle’s garden.
“great, how do i get out now” you mumbled.
you heard steps behind you and turned around immediately.
your eyes widened as you saw the person that was standing in front of you.
“hello” he said with a warm smile.
“prince sunoo” you whispered under your breath, “hello”
“you probably have already heard who i am, but i’m sunoo” he said and bowed to you.
you couldn’t understand why, but you felt your cheeks heating up. focus y/n, focus!!
is he your promised prince?
“i’m l/n y/n” you introduced yourself with a curtsy, sunoo took your hand and kissed the back of it, “you look awfully pretty, y/n”
you said you hated it, hated it when a stranger kissed your hand, but why did it feel so different when he did it?
you wanted him to keep kissing your hand, and maybe not only your hand.
no, y/n what are you thinking!!
sunoo couldn’t explain it, ever since he laid his eyes on you, he felt something.
you were so, so pretty in his eyes. he saw the whole crowd but his eyes only looked at you. he wanted to get to know you more, he’s more than 100% sure you’re promised to him, how could his parents forget your beautiful name?
and if it turns out you’re not the one who’s promised to him, he’s more than determined now to make you his wife.
“would you like to have a dance y/n?” he suddenly asked, looking into your soft eyes.
you could still hear the music at the back, you enjoy dancing anyway, so why not?
“i’d love that” you replied.
sunoo took your hand and guided you, you were extremely close to each other.
your hands were around his neck, and his held your waist.
“how come i’ve never seen you before?” he asked.
“i’m not the type to go to royal celebrations, i came here for the first time since i’m kind of forced to meet my future husband” you replied softly.
“future husband?” sunoo disappointedly looked down.
did you already find your future husband? your promised one?
you shook your hand, “i have yet to find him, but now that i’m being here with you…” you stayed quiet for a bit, “i think i found him”
oh you were bold. what if he already has someone he’s going to marry to?
“oh,” he suddenly said and chuckled, “i think i already found my future wife too”
both of you shared a long eye contact, god he was so attractive and you were so beautiful in his eyes.
you changed position and crossed your hands together, going in circle while not even breaking your eye contact for a mere second.
you didn’t want to let go of each other, as the song ended, so did your dance.
you decided to sit on one of the benches at the garden and share a little conversation.
a little conversation ended up lasting for almost until midnight. you’ve been at the garden since eight pm.
you talked about your hobbies, your family, your miserable life with your manners classes.
“no way! you’re having them too?? i thought only my parents were old school” he said in excitement.
“yeah, i guess both of us are experiencing the old school parents” you chuckled.
the conversation just kept on going further and further until the maids reminded you it’s time to go.
both of you got up from the bench and looked at each other.
“i don’t want this night to end” you pout.
sunoo giggled and put his hands around your waist.
“i don’t want it to end either” he replied.
it was a comforting silence between the two of you, until he started getting closer.
“can i…..?” he asked and you nodded.
he crushed his lips on yours and held you tightly. you kissed him back and put your hands around his neck.
the kiss was so innocent and sweet, as if you’re having your first teen love.
as you slowly let go of the kiss you opened your eyes and giggled.
“there you—am i interrupting something?” you recognize this prince, it’s prince jake.
“not at all, i was just about to leave” you said after and curtsied to the prince.
you walked away but not before whispering into sunoo’s ear, “hopefully i get to see you again”
as you left, jake pushed sunoo and cheered for him. “you found her didn’t you!!”
sunoo smiled, his cheeks still blushing from the kiss you shared a few minutes ago. it was just like in the love stories he liked to read.
“oh! her name is minju!”
no. this can’t be.
after the celebration, his parents came up to him to ask him how was meeting his future wife.
only then he realized he has been wrong this whole time.
“what?” he asked.
they nodded and smiled, “we’re so glad you enjoyed! we were actually worried about you not liking her”
“i need to sleep” he mumbled.
“what?”
“i need to sleep now” he said louder.
his parents left his room, shocked and speechless. did they say something wrong?
“y/n dear, how was the party?” your parents came up to you, they’ve probably been waiting for you to get back.
you knew they didn’t really care about the party, but more about the person you’ve met there.
you already knew that the person you’re promised to marry wasn’t sunoo, but you couldn’t help it but fall in love with him.
you realized it wasn’t sunoo halfway into your conversation. your parents told you a few facts about your future husband, and none of them matched sunoo. still, you kept on spending the night with him instead of going to search your promised one.
“it was fine” you replied.
“just fine….?” they asked surprised.
“yeah”
“what about….?”
“oh, it was amazing actually, i already feel myself falling for him, he’s the person i want to marry to and no one else” you smiled, “ever since i saw him i only think of him”
your parents looked at you in confusion. they weren’t expecting to hear that from you, especially because you hated this idea.
“are you…doing okay?” they asked and you nodded, cheeks heating up after remembering your past events.
“i’ll be going to sleep now” you skipped to your room happily, leaving your parents dumbfounded.
the next day you woke up, “y/n! you got a letter” one of your maids brought your letter to you and you opened it.
‘meet me at xxxx around 9pm — sunoo’
you smiled after reading the letter, and you couldn’t help but wait for the eve to come.
around 8:30pm you sneaked out, telling your parents you weren’t feeling well and getting out slowly and surely, no one noticed you.
you arrived the place and waited for him. you sat on a bench and looked at the sky.
the sky was so dark and the stars were shining brightly, you enjoyed looking at the sky, until you couldn’t see anything.
someone covered your eyes, “guess who” you heard a familiar voice and chuckled.
“my future husband” you said.
this new nickname you gave him made him flutter each time he hears it coming out of your mouth.
he removed his hands and pecked your cheeks, “ding ding ding, we have a winner” he smiled and went to sit next to you on the bench.
“i missed you” he added.
“you saw me yesterday” you replied.
“24 hours without seeing you, my heart can’t handle it” he held his hand against his heart and you rolled your eyes, “you’re so cheesy”
“you didnt mind it yesterday” he shrugged, “i still don’t”
both of you chuckled and kept talking with a wide smile all over your faces.
the two of you knew, you knew you’re not promised to each other, you knew you won’t end up getting married to each other, so why does none of you bring this up?
you kept talking and talking without even realizing it was past 3 am. you have manners class later today, you have to get some sleep.
“you have to go?” he asked and you nodded sadly.
“my parents will kill me if i dont wake up in time” you sighed.
“let’s meet up tomorrow too, same time, same place” he said and you nodded.
you pecked his lips and ran back, leaving him with blushing cheeks.
none of you wants to admit it, but you’re not going to end up together. so you’ll just spend your time together as long as you can, holding into the fact that maybe, maybe you actually will have a chance to marry each other.
your sneaking out became a usual thing for you and sunoo, you really did keep your promise and met up every day.
“how do you want our wedding to be?” he asked you once.
your head was resting on his lap as he caressed your hair.
“my family, your family, and maybe just a few important royals, in your castle too, because that’s where we first met” you smiled and he smiled back at you.
both of you knew it’s not really going to happen, but you still held into the hope that maybe, against all the odds, maybe you will be able to change your fate.
“i love it, what do you think about honeymoon?” he asked in addition to the wedding part and you just giggled.
as you came back to your room that day from meeting sunoo, you noticed a figure sitting on your bed.
you got scared and immediately turned on the lights, just to notice it was your mother.
“mother,” you whispered.
“i thought you’re not feeling well?” she asked seriously.
“i-i went to catch some air—“ “dont try to excuse yourself” she said firmly.
you looked down and sighed, “i met up with my future husband”
her serious face turned into a wide smile, “really? what did you two—“
“kim sunoo from hybe kingdom” you cut her off as you just now told her who you met up.
“what?” she asked, the wide smile turning into confusion.
“i met up with sunoo, my future husband” you boldly said.
your mother laughed, “that was a good joke! dont scare me like that again” she continued to laugh but her laugh faded when she noticed you were serious.
“oh, you’re serious?” she asked and you nodded.
“i want to marry sunoo, mom” you said.
“that’s not possible” she argued.
“why not? i love him, he’s the person i want to marry” you said.
“a no is a no, i don’t want to argue about it” she got up.
“but i do, i won’t marry any other person, even that ‘future husband’ you’ve been telling me to marry” you’re a one stubborn child, and you’re not going to give up on sunoo that easily.
your mother sighed, “i will not argue about this with you, you’re grounded, i’ll put hundreds of guards around just to keep you here” she raised her voice.
“you can try and keep me here all you want! it’s not going to change my feelings!” you shout as she went out of your room.
sunoo wasn’t doing any better, he too, got caught as he came back.
“no!” his mother argued, “you’re promised to marry minji and that’s final! i don’t want to hear another word!”
sunoo scoffed, “out of all seven of us, you chose to be strict with me, now that i finally found someone i love, you’re taking her away from me? why did you let heeseung marry a commoner then?” he shout.
his mother stayed speechless.
“exactly, you have no good reason” he said in disbelief.
“you’re not allowed to go out anymore until you realize what you just did, minju is your future wife and no one else” she said before smacking the door.
while both of you weren’t allowed out of your castles, you could send letters one to other.
you kept communicating through that, however, it was slow and hard as one letter per day came in.
on one of the days you shared dinner with your parents, as usual you stayed quiet and didn’t talk to neither of them.
only today was different, “y/n,” your father called you but you ignored.
“we’ve decided to break off the agreement with the other kingdom” he continued and your eyes light up.
“me and your mother decided it’s what best for you, and we want nothing more than to see you happy” he said.
“does that mean…..?” you whispered and your mother nodded, “you can marry prince sunoo, we talked some sense in his parents too”
you looked at the clock and saw the time, 8:30pm.
you looked over your parents, “can i….?” and they nodded.
you pushed away your chair and ran out of the castle to search for your sunoo.
you arrived at your place with a wild smile, expecting to see him already, your smile faded as you saw no one.
your eyes teared up, until someone covered your eyes behind you, “guess who”
without waiting, you turned around and hugged the person you were so longing for.
“my future husband, my real future husband” you cried into the hug as he hugged you back tightly, not wanting to let you go.
“i missed you” he said and you cupped his face.
“i love you” you said before kissing him.
you caught him off guard but he was quick to kiss you back, holding your waist and getting you closer to him than ever.
both of you pulled away when you felt you were out of air.
you pressed your foreheads against each other with eyes closed, “it’s been so long, it feels so good to hold you again, i love you” he said and you smiled.
“i was wondering how long it’s going to take for my parents to realize i only want to marry you” you chuckled.
“took them too long” he scoffed and you nodded.
“what’s important is that you’re here now” you whispered.
“i’m here, forever and ever, i love you”

Comatose (Jongho) pt. 1
Tumblr media
Mafia!Choi Jongho x fem!Reader
>> Being the lover of mafia member Choi Jongho had it perks and downfalls, you were allowed to stay in a lavish mansion with 8 beautiful men, including your man, who stayed by your side when he wasn’t on the job. However, when one day you are on a date with said lover, a member of Ateez’s rival gang shoot’s you...what will happen next?<<
(This one shot includes violence, so warning and angst, and fluff. It’s a roller coaster, it’s a mafia one shot, there’s more I just don’t know what other warnings I should add)
(Monsta X make an appearance)
(Monsta X used to be Ateez alliance but are now enemies)
Yes, living in large mansions, fancy cars, having many butlers and maids, big chandeliers, grand staircases, red bottoms heels, fancy dresses and more was amazing, but nothing could top having Choi Jongho as your lover.
Sure, he was busy a lot, but he still made time for you, always, no matter how late or early it was. He’d surprise you with gifts, despite you protesting, saying how much you don’t need it, you just need him. You only need him.
He’d shrug it off, showing his cute ol’ gummy smile. You’d roll your eyes in response. Then it would repeat.
-
Sneaking a glance at your sleeping brown-haired boyfriend, you smiled, remembering how you got to this point, how he saved you.
....
You had grown in a test facility, sold by parents for $100,000. You had grown along side other kids, but many had died due to the harsh environment and tests. Few had survived. Scars had littered your body, you had given up fighting the scientists, the workers, everyone and given in. You didn’t even know what they were testing.
That was until one day, the alarms went off, the whole facility went red, gunfire rang throughout the entire building. You were in the middle of being subjected to another test.
The door had been kicked open. The doctor who had been working on you pulled out a pistol and aimed it toward the door, “You can-” He was shot in the chest.
As you stared at the door, a young man about your age with a automatic rifle stared at the dead body on the floor with his chest heaving, His face was covered with pure anger. His mouth opened to say something then he saw her, you.
“Hey..” He walked over, “Are you okay?” He stepped over the bloody corpse, pulling out a knife, “You’ll be alright now.” As each strapped snapped off, he sat the girl up, careful of the new wounds the dead doctor had given her.
At the entrance of the facility, a group of men with weapons had lined up tons of the tons of doctors in white coats, all tied up.
A man with strike features, named Kim Hongjoong, leader of Ateez, the biggest Mafia; circled the disgusting mafia, “So, you betrayed us. You used the facility and items my father provided you to test on children and teenagers, even young adults?” He tsked.
He placed the barrel of his gun to the lead doctors forehead, “Tell me exactly why I shouldn’t blow your brains out.”
Just then, the youngest of Ateez comes out with the girl he discovered, who is just barely alive, she can barely keep her head up, her feet are dragging behind her. “Boss, Hongjoong, look at this, look at her, she’s barely alive, she looks like she’s been here for years.”
At those words Hongjoong snapped his head over to his youngest members voice. His eyebrows narrowed at the sight, “Oh you’ve got to be fucking kidding me.” He laughed, then looked at the doctor.
“Looks like I don’t need a reason to not shoot you.”
BAM
“Kill them all and free the kids and innocents.”
---
You were grateful for him for that day. He and his team had saved you.
(SWITCHING POV)
Sneaking one last glance at him, I swung my scarred-bare legs over the fancy mattress and sheets, careful not wake to wake him. He had such a busy week.
Dealing with drug deals, traveling to different sectors to different mafia bosses to make different deals that I have no idea what entailed. I didn’t want to know.
Making my to his jointed bathroom, I flicked on the light, rubbing my face to clear out the sleep. It was days like this that I wish I could sleep in. I just couldn’t fall asleep, I had fall into a routine since I was brought to that facility many years ago, I had yet to break the habit of waking up from the schedule.
After freshening up in the bathroom and changing into a fresh pair of clothes, I made my way downstairs to the big kitchen, where I could smell the maids and butlers already preparing breakfast. They never did mind me striking up conversation with them while they prepared for all nine people.
My favorite maid, Denice, had her back turned towards me, facing the stainless steel oven, "Hello Dee," I glanced at all of the other servants in the room, "smell's nice in here, guys. The boys will love it."
The older woman gave me a nod and grin, "Thank you dear, we love to please. You look lovely, what are you all dolled up for, is it for the young Mr Choi?"
A blush had spread across my face, "Maybe.."
I wasn't exactly dressed up to impress.
-
It was already around 12pm and Jongho had still not waken, but everyone else had, no one wanted to wake him. Only I was willing.
I sighed, staring at the clock, knowing how much he'd swat at me to go away or pull me in under the cover to join him.
I eyed the little pirate ship model on the piano as I made my way to the stairs. These boys and their pirate ships. They even owned a few real models, docked at their own private beach. It was a little weird for the biggest mafia to obsessed with pirate culture, but it was whatever.
I laughed just to then smile, it was kind of cute though, the times they'd act like pirates, have their little spar matches with fake swords. They'd run all over countertops and tables, earning scoldings from Seonghwa. Who'd say, "You're getting everything dirty!" It's hilarious.
Living with these eight men is amazing, it was a change, an amazing change from living in the facility practically my whole life.
I shook Jongho awake, “Hey, Haribo, come on, it’s noon, you missed breakfast.”
Jongho groaned in response, grabbing my wrists. I knew this would happen. I was yanked into his arms.
“But I don’t want to get up, why don’t we just stay in bed, I have the next couple of days off anyway.” He had muttered into my hair.
I pried his head away from mine, “No, Jongho, how about we just go out? Like for a date? We haven’t gone out together in a bit.”
I stared into his brown doe eyes, searching for any reaction, but all he did was sigh in content.
He always did this on his days off, he’d fight with me on getting up. It was ridiculous, the other men thought of it as a nuisance so they didn’t even bother and left it to me to get him up. It was weird to begin with for a mafia member to have a day off, but whatever.
He continued to lay there. “Fine, don’t get up, I’ll go out by myself.” I stood up and was about to leave the room.
I could hear his pout, “but..”
With my hand on the door handle, “Last chance, Haribo.”
With a thump he rolled off the bed in a pile of blankets. “Okay, okay, you win, we’ll go somewhere.”
Finally, it takes forever to get this man out of bed.
“I’ll be downstairs, please do not wear anything that shouts you’re in the biggest mafia around here.” I stared down at him, he was still on the floor.
When I reached the grand living room, I was met with the other 7 members, "Hey boys, he's up." I swiped a hand down my face and sat down in an open spot on the sofa, next to Wooyoung. I really shouldn't have, but I didn't have another option.
Wooyoung looked at me, had a smirk on his face and was ready to say something, "Woo, I swear to god, I will kick you in the balls, you know I am with Jongho."
He sunk into his spot while the other men laughed at his pathetic state.
I didn’t have time for this. Is Jongho even getting ready or did he go back to sleep?
I was about to just ask Hongjoong if I could have a ride somewhere when Jongho finally made his into the grand living room, “Oh, glad you could finally join us, Haribo.” I rolled my eyes, annoyed with him.
I could be nicer to him after all he’s done for me, but this habit of his has become too much, I love him I really do. He’s so sweet to everyone around us, well, unless it’s his rivals or people he doesn’t trust. However he is super shy.
I saw him glance at his fellow members, giving them a nod before heading over to me, “We can go now.”
Jongho was just so handsome and perfect in my eyes, despite the whole mafia thing, but I loved him nevertheless.
I took his hand in mine, “Then let’s go, love.”
-
We had taken one of less conspicuous vehicles, but he had at least one bodyguard vehicle following us, never too safe.
“How about this little cafe, Haribo?” I had pointed to a cute and small outdoor coffee shop, it had beautiful flowers in pots surrounding the outside of it.
It didn’t look busy at all, which was sad as it presented itself cutely and definitely deserved more business.
Jongho pulled into a spot along side the cafe, “Alright, I guess this our first date in a while.”
-
We were enjoying our meal and coffee when all of the sudden a black suv sped in front of the cafe. Three men jumped out, I saw Jongho’s bodyguard pull out his gun but it was too late, he was gunned down.
Bystanders were screaming and running, cars were speeding by to get away from the gunshots.
I grabbed Jongho’s arm but he shoved me behind him, I was scared to death for him, but I knew he always packed and wore a bulletproof vest.
“Y/N I need you to run and call the rest of Ateez! Tell them Monsta X is here.” He shouted over the returning gunfire between him and the other men.
I didn’t want to move but I nodded, grabbed my phone, texted Ateez ‘SOS @ Berry Cafe.’ and then took off.
I looked back at my lover but when I did, I was shot in my back, multiple times.
Of all the pain I’ve gone through..this had to be the worst.
“Y/N!”
I could hear my lovers shouts for me but my world is getting dark as I laid on the concrete, slowly bleeding out.
-
Ateez raced into the gunfire battle between Jongho and three members of Monsta X.
As they all piled out they could see how tired and mournful their youngest was.
Then they glanced over and saw his lover laying face down on the concrete in a pool of her own blood.
“Jongho, get out of here! Take her to the hospital!” Hongjoong shouted over the shots.
He nodded, running over to his mess of a lover, “Y/N! Please still be alive..” he pressed a finger to her throat. She still had a pulse but it was hardly there.
As he lifted her up into his arms, he raced back to his vehicle and placed her gently in the backseat.
-
“HELP! My girlfriend has been shot!” Jongho carried Y/N who was unconscious into the busy and loud hospital.
Multiple nurses ran over, one with a gurney, “Place her here, sir, we need to take her back!
His clothes were covered in her blood, usually he didn’t care for it, but when it was hers.. he was in despair.
When they carted her into the back, he collapsed to his knees, he was worn out from trying to protect her and failing to do so.
‘how could I be so stupid?’ He thought to himself.
To be continued…
