I love not being able to remember an extremely specific word and not being able to find it by googling the definition because the definition is so convoluted and so LIKE so many other words that are NOT the word I’m looking for that I am unable to find the one word I DO want. Magpie stealthily crept out the window, Trogon jewels in hand. She had only intended to steal the Seriemas emerald and the bedazzled Frogmouth statue, so there wasn't enough room in her pouch. She landed on the ground in the classic stance, the one that's bad for the knees. She was about to sneak off into some dark corner of Gotham when she heard the unmistakable sound of Solomon Grundy flying past the ally and crash landing in the street. Magpie poked her head out to see what was going on. In the middle of the street was a crater full of Grundy. She scurried over to check on the guy, but he seemed to be happy. He wasn't moving, but he didn't look like he was knocked out either. It was more like he was resting after a long day at an amusement park. She slid down and crouched near his head. "Hey, Grundy, you okey?" She placed the jewels from one hand on her lap so she could stroke his forehead.

"Grundy...new...friend." He growled in his usual manner.

"Friend" like how he and Bizaro are friends or how Penguin calls them "friends".

"Who is Grundys' new friend?"

"Kiteman...sidekick."

Sidekick? Wassnt Charlie's kid dead? Magpie glanced in the direction he'd come flying from only to be met with a green glowing skeleton mere inches from her face. Instinctively, she punched it and jumped back. Its skull went flying, and the body flayled around, trying to find it again. The whole scene looked like it belonged in the background of Pirates of the Caribbean. Magpie stood up and looked around. Other skeletons were running around picking up people and animals. She couldn't help but feel sorry for the ones desperately trying to catch bugs and remove them. Suddenly, the first skeleton picked her up and started running.

Penguin was not happy. It was bad enough that Red Hood had defiled his territories by spray painting penguins dressed as Pokémon everywhere, but that morning he had hacked into the iceberg lounge speakers and played "flightless birds" on loop for 6 hours. It had completely flipped the patronage base. There was only one solution.

"I want you to kill the Red Hood."

Across the table sat Dick disguised as a hit man.

"This is what he looks like." Penguin slid a photo over to his guest.

Suddenly, a goon burst through the door.

"WHAT!!"

"Boss, the news, someone's messing up Gotham."

Penguin scrambled for a remote in his drawer and turned on the TV, which was conveniently tuned to the right channel.

The first thing Two Face saw when he woke up in a hospital bed was the news. The little twerp that broke his kneecaps was fighting Solomon and Red Hood. He must be with the Bats. Or rather, from how he flies and hits, the Supers or the Martians would be more likely. Two Face pinched the bridge of his nose. He was startled by the loud crash of a tray of medical something or other hitting the floor. Harvey looked over to the source of the noise. It was a nurse. The sound also woke up the officer in the chair next to him.

"Sorry, I just need to change the bandages." She addressed the officer who tried to act like he hadn't been asleep. She picked up a roll of bandages and walked over to the bed. Something was off about this woman. Her uniform was revealing, and she didn't even seem intimidated approaching a known criminal. She gave him a sly smile before her arm quickly turned to clay, covering the officer from head to toe. Muffled screams could barely be heard as he struggled for air. It was no use.

Danny: Omg! It's you! I'm a huge fan of your work!

Kiteman: What? Really?

Danny: Yeah! Do you know how cool it is to meet someone who flies and rarely attacks civilians? I broke the Riddler's knee caps in your honor! Can I have your autograph?

Weed does her best to make sure that Songpaw wasn't pushing himself too hard. She isn't his mentor, so they don't spend as much time together as him and Wildfirecry, but she always made sure to check on him when she could. I take pretty sparse notes on google docs (sparse because I like to move and fudge things as I go along) and color code them so I can keep track of what season it is. Basically it only gets written down if it's going to be important in the future (births, deaths, scars, name changes, mates, accessories) or if I find it particularly interesting. I arrived at this process because if I put literally any more effort into note taking the game moves too slowly and I immediately lose interest.

1280 pixels is the widest an image can be on tumblr (from my understanding), so I generally limit my canvas to that width to make sure that it doesn't get squished when I upload it. Then I am for each page to be about 2000 pixels, but between 1000 and 3000 seems to result in good image quality no matter what.

In Korea, the painting "Jakhodo" (in leopard paintings, "Jakpyodo"; "pyo" means leopard) is about a magpie and a tiger. The letter "jak" means magpie; "ho" means tiger; and "do" means painting. Since the work is known to keep away evil influence, there is a tradition to hang the art piece in the house in the first month of the lunar calendar. On a branch of a green pine tree sits a magpie and the tiger (or leopard), with a humorous expression, looks up at the bird. The tiger in "Jakhodo" does not look anything like a strong creature with power and authority. Kkachi horangi, paintings depicting magpies and tigers, was a prominent motif in the minhwa folk art of the Joseon period. 'Kkachi pyobeom paintings depict magpies and leopards. In kkachi horangi paintings, the tiger, which is intentionally given a ridiculous and stupid appearance (hence its nickname "idiot tiger" 바보호랑이), represents authority and the aristocratic yangban, while the dignified magpie represents the common people. Well, it seems they made a plushie of it already LOL (also check the link and the site, I simply googled it).

When it comes to it, there are some great interpretation of this character on TV Tropes. Here are some:

The tiger and magpie have long been popular subjects in Korean art and folklore, and are the subjects of a genre of painting called Kkachi horangi. There the tiger is depicted as a powerful but dimwitted figure satirizing authority, while the magpie assumes the role of a playful trickster taunting the tiger. And the oldest known depiction of the pair, called "Jakhodo", was said to ward away evil when decorating homes on New Years. This characterization and stylization is translated into the film's tiger and magpie; not only is the tiger's wide-eyed face and goofy stupidity translated over, as is the magpie's snarky and mischievous attitude. Their role as non-villainous demons reinterprets the classic trait of warding off demons by playing into Rumi's journey of coming to terms with her own demonic heritage, and showing that demons aren't inherently evil or predatory.

The tiger constantly trying to put a flowerpot/trashcan back up but failing to do so. It reflects Jinu trying his best to fix his own mistakes, but is incapable of doing so, repeating a cycle of guilt that has been gnawing at his soul for centuries. Its stripes are also reminiscent of the lines of the Honmoon, and the abilities it demonstrates seem to somehow draw upon it.

Rumi has a loose tiger animal motif: Her demonic markings resemble tiger stripes and she wields a sain-geom, which translates to 'four tiger sword'. Not to mention she grows quite fond of Jinu's tiger familiar.

Ghost is a black-billed magpie because it just works aesthetically and I can also see him being a bird who's a lovable asshole.

Soap is a red deer, give one of them a mohawk and a blue-eyed star then it's just Soap.

Gaz is a Eurasian Eagle Owl, they're positively gorgeous birds but I don't doubt that if it came down to it then one could claw through me until they reach bone.

Graves is a sechurun fox, looks shifty but I'm endeared by it.

Farah is a California towhee. I can't explain it, but it fits and it's truly a lovely bird to look at.

Alex reminds me of a mountain weasel. Google it and you'll make it three pictures in before agreeing with me irritatedly.

Rudy is a Geoffroy's cat. Imagine that cat meets a wizard and asks to be made into a man wearing a grey hoodie, boom it's Rodolfo.

I was planning on adding in magpies in the background this time, but I was getting lazy, and it’s already late, so maybe next time ^^;

(Also I was thinking of making a rainbow version, but it didn't come out as I would have liked? Idk. I still think it’s cute, though, so I put it under the cut)

Alrighty, listen: I really didn’t mean to wait this long to post. But, like, very shortly after Eid, my iPad’s storage filled up, like, to the point I couldn’t even access my mail (that’s how I found out, pfft). I was wondering why I’d ever need 256 GB 4 years ago… but still, it was $100 extra bucks. Sure, it was a grad gift, but 128 GB was expensive enough—still a lot of storage, too… Not enough, clearly!

Hoarding layers (and recoloring my own art, pfft) has really caught up to me… but also, it wouldn’t help too much if I didn’t either. After deleting what I could bear to part with, that took away around 5 GB, but merging layers in other works barely made a dent.

So I’ve spent these past few weeks wondering what to do, thinking about emailing my 2019 (imported from my 5s) and 2020 works to an email I also created 4 years ago for some reason I totally forgot about and never used so that I don’t end up taking any space in my actual one and then uploading them onto two (since I really don’t want my files corrupting) USBs via my laptop, trying to get those USBs from Target (but since I was adamant this time in getting 256 GB USBs—I don’t want to have to worry about storage for a longgggg time—there were none in stock), ordering them off of eBay instead since my dad insisted on their cheapness, waiting a week for them, then transferring them to that email and uploading them onto its Google drive if the files was too big…

But that was taking much too long and still left space on my iPad while I was doing it. I managed to complete the 2019 and 2020 pieces from my iPad, but it also only ended up being around 1 GB… So, like, I need to clear more years (breaks my heart, it does ;~; Sure, I still have access to them via that email and those USBs, but it’s not convenient anymore, and there are still pieces I plan on getting back to… ackkkkk).

Contemplating it some more and discussing it with a friend, much as I abhor subscription services, I finally decided to purchase a premium membership on Ibis for that 20 GB of cloud storage. I can afford the 30 bucks a year, and I like the app anyway—serves me good—and not having to watch an ad every 18 hours to access my go-to brushes would be nice, plus having access to the other stuff, but yeah: ✋🌈✨cloud storage✨🌈 🤚

Anyway, I’m pretty sure a good chunk of what’s taking up my space is actually the cache, as I’m already more than halfway through my drawings, and I’m not sure if I’ll reach that 75 GB of storage Ibis was apparently taking up with just my drawings. So I’ll probably need to download everything, then delete the app and redownload it ‘cause stupid IOS doesn’t let you easily clear it 🫠

Anyway, I really thought I’d be done by now, but am not—that said, I managed to clear out around 10 GB off of Ibis (not my iPad; I somehow managed to gain back 5?? Somewhere?? I’ve no clue; I don’t see it), which is wayyy more than enough to get one drawing done for IH week, so I paused the whole storage thing for now. I actually tried to get day one’s drawing done on the 6th, but I’m dealing with perspective that’s hurting my brain, so I decided to get day seven’s done instead, ‘cause I thought I’d be on time…

Me? On time? Man, who knew I was so funny… 😒

But yeah, day seven is done! I’ll definitely revisit that day one drawing in the future, but not anytime soon. As if I wasn’t backed up already, this whole storage mess has backlogged even further, and there are other dates coming up 😮‍💨 And, y’know, gotta finish the storage transfer, too… Ahhhhhhhhhh!

Anyway, on a more positive note, gradient maps are actually very neat to use—had a little too much fun, eheh. I won’t confess how much time I spent testing it out on this piece, but here be my favorite:
