do people who have listened to taz balance but not graduation Know that it was HEAVILY IMPLIED that lup and barry eventually adopted a lil sorcerer child who got disowned by his family for his natural necromancy magic, and they taught him how to use his powers for good and were overall great parents that he looks back on fondly
(and said child grew up to be a dimension-hopping lich, caretaker of the dead, and very sweet adoptive father of a major npc)
#eliot posts#taz#the adventure zone#taz balance#taz graduation#lup taaco#barry bluejeans#blupjeans#like they never specifically say ''my parents are barry and lup'' so it's left up to interpretation but#he says he came from another world other than nua (nua is the name of the grad world like faerun is the balance world)#he says both his parents were highly skilled necromancers that ''travelled'' a lot because of their work#he says that inter-planar travel runs in the family#and he likes to bake#also travis apparently said on a livestrean that he got something carved by magnus for his daughter#it's a fun little easter egg for balance enjoyers but kept vague enough where it's like. you don't have to know about balance to enjoy it#anyway tho it's adorable cuz he talks about how much of a positive impact his parents made on him#and how he wanted to emulate them when raising his own daughter#and he's a good dad and his daughter loves him (also she is an absolute delight i love her#and like the only older adult to look at our college-aged protagonists and be like#''yeah it's messed up that you have to deal with all of this you're so young you're the same age as my child i will help however i can''#like balance easter egg aside gordy is one of my fav graduation npcs (behind his daughter rainer who is my fav)

7 years ago, I started a group chat fanfic. People seemed to like it! I sure liked writing it.
But then life happened, yada yada, and I never got around to finishing it. To be honest, I thought I never would.
But I reread it recently. While it definitely has the strong Stench of 2017 humor on it, I found that there was still a lot to like about it. And it kept receiving a lot of very nice comments.
So I finally decided to finish the damn thing. I hope y'all enjoy.

Hi! Question for you! You've convinced me to try starting TAZ, but there's just... so much of it.... would you recommend starting all the way from the beginning, or is it possible to pick and choose the best arcs? If so, where would you recommend beginning? Thank you!
Assuming you're interested in the arc that I post the most about, which is Balance (the one with Taako, Magnus, and Merle, my beloveds), then I would just start at the beginning of that arc! (Which is also the beginning of the podcast as a whole.)
The early episodes of Balance aren't as good as the rest in terms of, like, pure objective quality, but they're still hilarious from the very beginning, and also very worth it IMO for how they set up the plot and characters — even if clumsily at first, because the McElroys didn't initially realize how far they wanted to take this series. If you see me going insane about Characters and Themes, and that's what draws you in to TAZ, you will almost certainly find the length of Balance worth to be it lol; just know that it's a comedy show overall where the life-changing emotionally-devastating parts are more of a slow burn.
But also, if you want to start somewhere with slightly better production quality, you can still start with one of the other campaigns, since they're more or less unrelated stories! Balance is of course your standard D&D fantasy adventure, which eventually turns into something grander in scale and blurs the lines with other genres. Amnesty is a modern-setting Monster of the Week campaign, in a mysterious small town in the radio quiet zone of West Virginia — darker in tone than most arcs in some ways, but a blast if you're into that. Graduation is a fantasy school story that I think is among the more underrated arcs, because it has a different DM (Travis instead of Griffin); I think it has very fun worldbuilding about "heroism," "villainy," and "sidekick" as college majors and professions, and my second-favorite player character dynamic after Balance.
Rounding out the arcs I've listened to in full, Ethersea and Steeplechase are both bangers in my opinion, but not ones I'd recommend as an introduction, for various reasons (Steeplechase actually has a running gag that spoils the ending of Balance lmao). Then there's finally Dust, which is more like a two-part miniseries than a full campaign, but it could be good as a bite-sized introduction — it's a fantasy Western murder mystery!
Anyways, enjoy your TAZ journey!

Positive Percabeth imagines :))) (though ngl this is mostly about their daughters but still)
I imagine that Percy and Annabeth will have twin daughters, and they’ll choose names based off their loved ones. One daughter is named Zoe Elizabeth, after Zoe the Hunter, and Rachel Elizabeth Dare. The second daughter is named Natalie Grace, after Annabeth’s aunt Natalie (and also bc as einherjars Magnus and Alex will never be able to have kids so it’s also for Magnus’ sake) and Grace bc it’s the last name of both Thalia and Jason obviously but it’s a way to honor Jason especially. Natalie Grace is nicknamed Tali, pronounced Tah-lee, and I’ve always pronounced Thalia as Tah-lee-uh, so that way they’re honoring her too. Zoe has dark brown hair and grey-blue eyes, and Tali has dirty blonde hair and blue-green eyes.
Percy and Annabeth lived in New Rome for several years after finishing college, and they both helped create sacred temples and statues and groves and places for all the gods, as Percy started, Jason expanded, and Apollo basically vowed to complete. Annabeth of course did most of the brainstorming and research and building stuff, but Percy was actually the one who would ask various gods and be like “okay Nereus. These are some ideas we have to honor you. Can you tell me which you like best?” And then that god would send him a dream giving varying amounts of detail and instruction as to what exactly they wanted. So the twins, Zoe and Tali, were raised in New Rome for their first several years.
Meanwhile at Camp Half-Blood, they have expanded to have cabins for legacies, and they also started an academy, called Olympus Heights Academy. As more demigods were claimed and now legacies too, it made sense to start a school. When Tali and Zoe are eight, their parents decide to move back to Camp Half-Blood and become teachers. Annabeth predictably tries to teach too many classes at first but eventually settles on just teaching a couple classes, probably Ancient Greek history and language bc we know she taught Percy and also close combat with a knife. Percy teaches swords fighting obviously.
Tali and Zoe are at this point beginning to learn their abilities. Both of them can breathe underwater. Zoe can control water, ocean water most easily but with some degree of control over fresh water. She is an expert in close combat fighting. She is skilled in strategy and has an affinity for the arts. She is a natural sailor. Natalie can communicate with horses and their cousins. She has siren powers, similar to charmspeak, but water based and music/voice linked. She is an expert at swords fighting. She is skilled in craftsmanship and strategy and has an affinity for academics. She is a natural sailor.
You noticed the siren powers? I headcanon that Sally is a third generation legacy of Venus, and Percy didn’t really get anything from Venus except good looks, extra ability to learn Latin, and extra meddling in his love life, but Tali did. I saw someone make a post about, what if daughters of Poseidon could sometimes get siren like abilities? I loved that idea, and had to include that in one of the twins. Normally a second generation legacy of Poseidon wouldn’t ever have siren abilities, but bc of the distant relation to Venus, Tali did get that ability.
The twins will of course go on their own death defying quests and adventures. Percy and Annabeth will happily be living in Camp Half-Blood, visiting Sally and the rest of the Jackson-Blofis family as much as they can.
Oh I also have another funny idea. I actually woke up one morning earlier this week daydreaming about it. Percy and Annabeth, after college, are trying to plan their wedding. But they keep getting into fights about small random things. And this is so out of character for them. Eventually Annabeth realizes that this is Hera meddling and at first she’s furious but eventually tries to reason with Hera. Hera eventually gives specific instructions on something that she wants to be created at Camp Half-Blood to honor her. I’m not entirely sure what it is yet, but whatever it is, it’s gonna be nearly impossible to create. But Annabeth has to do it if she wants to get married to Percy. So she struggles for months with this building project, finally it’s nearly done. Then Hera says that she will allow them to marry, but they have to be married nearby whatever it is that Annabeth had to create, and their marriage will be dedicated to Hera and will act as the way to consecrate the sacred building thing to Hera. So now Chiron has to allow demigods to get married at Camp Half-Blood, allow the queen of the gods to officiate it, and he can’t keep their mortal family from the wedding! So now there are mortals in Camp Half-Blood. But it all goes well, but now a tradition has begun of campers wanting to get married by Hera’s sacred thing, and now Chiron has to deal with weddings and mortal families and he’s seriously annoyed at Hera but he can’t show it bc she’s the queen of the gods.
Hope you like these headcanons!!! :)))
~wolfyboi
thanks for the ask wolfyboi!
awww, these are all so fun and cute! i love thinking about their future and their kids! it just being me so much joy. they deserve to be happy more than anyone. i do hate hera so the thought of them having to dedicate their marriage to her makes me a little queasy, but the idea of chiron having to deal with a ton of people getting married at the camp made me giggle
this put a smile on my face. thank you!! ❤️❤️

I am heading back into college after winter break, and I'm looking for a new podcast recommendation! Some of my favorites are The Magnus Archives, Malevolent, Camlann, Down, and Sherlock & Co.!
I'll listen to basically anything you recommend to me
Hi! I feel greatly honoured to be asked for recs! Here are some podcasts that I greatly enjoyed that I think you might too.
Do you like the detective team from the Baker Street? You will probably also enjoy the other detective team – Fawx & Stallion. Hampton Fawx, James and Madge Stallion might have never had a case before but at least they have a lot of enthusiasm and queer power! Currently releasing their second season.
What about some unconventional treatment of fantasy conventions? Back Again, Back Again answers the question of what happens to The Chosen One Hero when they return back to their world after adventure. Such Prophecy Child tells her story while also showing how her life is now.
Maybe you are more in mood for horror? Classic answer that I can give here is obviously The Silt Verses. In a word where gods are present in every sphere of life two worshippers of outlawed god, Carpenter and Faulkner, take pilgrimage and encounter other gods, saints and angels. Amazing descriptions, a lot of body horror, interesting discussion about faith and religion.
Something long and a horror? In Hello from The Hallowoods god of dreams Nikignik tells dreamers what happens in The Hallowoods and gets attached to its residents. Monsters, ghosts, gods, witches and more try to survive in changed forest and maybe even strive for more. You can also jumped straight to four season for some detective plot.
Other podcasts that have something in common in ones you mentioned that I recommend: Ghost InSpectors, Project: Daydream, Dracula: The Danse Macabre, Victoriocity, The Secret of St Kilda, Desperado, Unseen, The Endless Ocean. Have nice listening!

SDV + SVE Pairings
This is just random fluff headcanon about good pairings in Stardew Valley, imo.
Alex
+ Abigail (already wrote a post on this adorable pairing)
+ Penny (something tells me he would be super protective of her and just the kind of adventure she needs and she would be so good to Evelyn and George, endearing him even more)
Elliott
+ Olivia (from SVE - a little May-December romance going on here)
+ Penny (he would take such good care of her, showering her with praise and adoration, and she deserves it)
+ Claire (from SVE - she's half-in-love with him already as an avid reader of his books; he would just lap up the praise)
+ Sophia (from SVE - the wine is what brings them together and love of fantasy)
Shane
+ Emily (I think she would be a good influence in his life, a bit mothering at times, but he needs a firm supporter and cheerleader in his corner when he's detoxing, plus she would spoil Jas rotten)
+ Haley (an odd pairing at first glance, but this headcanon, though not explicitly Haley, has me convinced these two would make a good pair somehow)
+ Abigail (this girl LOVES the egg hunt, and gets super into talking about chickens with him; and he kinda likes watching her from a distance, not quite sure what to make of this purple-haired beauty, but he is attracted to her joy and silliness, and she just wants to bring a smile to his face and make him happy)
+ Leah (she would not put up with his bullcrap; she would dish it right back; she would hang in there with him like a champ while he detoxed and tell him what he needs to hear; and she would be good to Jas, plus she lives close by; and I think he would appreciate homecooked meals as he eats a lot of pizza at the Saloon and frozen dinners from Joja at home; I don't think Marnie cooks much; and he would appreciate her passion for art and the outdoors, particularly their shared fondness for Cindersap Woods; she could keep up with him when he is at his best; and these two would be fire together in bed)
Magnus (Wizard from SVE)
+ Emily (something tells me this pairing would be magical *wink wink*)
+ Olivia (SVE - I'm not sure why, but this works in my head and he would give her the best "trinkets;" and he would greatly admire her first-editions collection and appreciate the library she has cultivated; somehow I also think it would be really funny for these two to get high together like she did in college in the '70s)
Harvey
+ Penny (he would also take very good care of her, and he's established with a solid career, older, a bit more experienced, and help her work through PTSD of living with an alcoholic mom)
+ Leah (oh she definitely is a capable, independent woman and catches his eye, and she likes teasing and spoiling him with goods from the woods *face palm* did not mean to make that rhyme. She would bring him salads and healthy meals and they'd enjoy a good bottle of wine or a good cup of coffee together)
+ Haley (he would spoil her and call her princess, and she would dote on him; it's all very flattering; he would also invite her to spruce up the clinic and let her display her photography; and when she cries and has a bad day, he would give her the TLC she needs; and I think she would be generous with the massages and kisses; plus, I know, this is a bit shallow, but he has a well-respected job and some money, which would impress her)
+ Claire (SVE - these two intellectuals would never run out of things to talk about, even though they are both quiet people; and they would be comfortable with the quiet; I could see them spending lazy rainy afternoons and evenings together, just reading, some soft jazz on in the background)
Sebastian
+ Leah (she would scare the hell outta him initially, but he would be secretly impressed by her woodchopping and have mad respect for her independence and fall madly in love with this redhead; she would give him the space he needs, uninterrupted, so he could work without his family constantly butting in; and I see her spoiling this touch-starved man with good food and tender loving care)
+ Haley (another odd pairing, BUT, hear me out, I think she'd ask him for help fixing her iPhone or iPad or something and at first, would be kinda annoyed by his aloofness, but then somehow would make it her mission to make sure this boy had the 'sweets;' like she would bake him a cake every week and hope something else would break just so she could see him again; he would think she's spoiled and annoying at first, but gradually grow to appreciate her artistic abilities - like seeing her out in the rain one day photographing frogs and the river and being impressed with her work; also he would secretly stalk her Instagram just so he could figure out where she was in town and casually 'bump' into her; I could see him being super into black & white photography; as Haley softens up and matures a bit, he could see himself pursuing her; and she would be totally down to follow him to Zuzu so he could pursue his dreams)
+ Claire (from SVE - it would start with them both wanting the same book at the library; of course, Seb would let her have it, but she promised to return it when she was done and let him check it out, and she stays true to her word; these two are both quiet individuals so I could see them reading together on a rainy day in the library, and seeing each other often enough, asking what the other is reading, and then gradually it becoming a habit to sit together; another girl he would introduce to digitized books; also Claire strikes me as a secret geek, totally down to try DnD and enjoying Journey of the Prairie King)
Sam
+ Scarlet (from SVE - technically not a romance candidate, but I like the idea of these two together; she is into anime and theater and cosplay and he likes her geeky side and how enthusiastically she talks about it with anyone who will listen; plus I think, she would appreciate his wicked guitar skills)
+ Emily (a little weird as a pairing, and she is an older woman, BUT, he likes how she takes care of him, bringing him a scarf on a windy day, giving him a Claritin when his spring allergies get bad, carrying around a first-aid kit when he bangs up his elbows and knees skateboarding, and keeping an eye on him when he's drinking at the Saloon; I think she enjoys having someone to take care of, someone who is carefree and happy-go-lucky like she is and open to trying anything)
+ Sophia (from SVE - what can I say? I think Sam is attracted to smart, competent, independent women; I also think they would bond because her parents died when she was younger, and he deeply misses his dad, even after Kent comes back and is suffering with PTSD; Sophia would help him through navigating it having navigated it herself; and she would appreciate his joy in life, plus I could see them both being geeky together)
Lance
+ Abigail (think of the adventures these two could/would have - enough said)
+ Scarlet (from SVE - for similar reasons as Abigail - I think she would enjoy going on adventures with Lance)
+ Leah (they are both strong and independent people, dedicated to their work, capable of being on their own for awhile, but I do think the passion would burn hot between these two)
+ Claire (SVE - she would swoon a little, to go on adventures she has only read about, and he would love to show her the world *cue Aladdin music now*)
+ Olivia (SVE - a little odd at first, but she likes that he is worldly and traveled and he appreciates her voracious appetite for literature and her cultured background; they are intellectual equals)
Victor (SVE)
+ Maru (I just love the idea of these two together; she might come over to borrow a book about astronomy and they would stay up late into the night discussing space exploration, robotics, and engineering; these two intellectuals would always enjoy each other's company and help the other with their projects; plus they both understand what it's like to have a 'hovering' parent and wouldn't mind escaping together every once in awhile)
+ Penny (another intellectual pairing; I also think he would take good care of her and enjoy spoiling her, maybe even designing a home for them to live in as an engineer; and she would fall madly in love with his library and adore how he had read all the same books she has)
Gus (not really a love interest... but... I couldn't help myself)
+ Penny (yes, you guessed it, she is attracted to men who can take care of her, and secretly loves being spoiled; they would work together in the community garden, and he always ensures she has enough food at home; she appreciates how he has always looked out for her; while kind-of a dad figure to her, now as an adult, she sees him in a whole new light - and finds herself feeling things she never thought she would; and he always saw her as much too young for him, but he admires her resilience and is beyond flattered when she confesses her feelings to him; age is just a number, right?; plus these two would be great teachers together, maybe cooking classes in the newly restored community center; and then some sensual cooking and foodplay in his apartment)
Clint
+ Sophia (SVE - as two respected business-owners in town, they would initially have that in common; after being rejected by Emily, Clint's heart is tender and raw; he doesn't think he will love again; She takes some projects to him and appreciates his attention to detail; she finds herself lingering even after she's dropped something off or after she's paid and picked up her item; one day she asks him to deliver something out to her vineyard, but then he gets stuck during a snowstorm; she cooks him a meal, something he hasn't had in a long time; he is touched by her generosity and hospitality; Sophia longs to make him feel better and to help him heal after rejection, but she's super shy and he's a bit too; so maybe she starts with an innocent invitation to dinner after that first one they had by accident because of the snow storm, but then they start enjoying a few meals together, and a glass of wine/beer at the Saloon, and soon he's walking her home on Friday nights, until one night... she invites him inside for more than just a nightcap... and...)
Who's your favorite? Any particular pairing from above that you'd like to see me write together in a "headcanon" post?

Complex AU,
Because author is unaware of the meaning of the word "limit":D
Asks are still open!
Y'all probably already noticed it, but I use lot's of fantasy features for this AU, so of course our people have certain jobs and permissions:
Gabriel — has two college degrees: lawyer and blacksmith, also he has Warrior Education and A1 permission to carry tools and weapons. Being a lawyer means you also should now villageres language.
Ivor — has two college degrees: enchanter and alchemist, also completed herbalist courses and has A2 permission to carry tools and weapons around. He knows enchanted language.
Magnus — has no college degree, since he didn't found anything interesting for himself, but he has extra alchemist classes because "It was less borin' than everything else". Also has A3 permission to carry tools and weapons around.
Soren — has two college degrees: calligrapher and architect. He also spent tow years becoming a cartographer, but didn't finish it cause Order went adventuring. He slightly know enchantment and has A3 permission to carry tools and weapons around.
Ellegaard — has two college degrees: engineer and banker. Took a lot of extra courses for redstone and some for mob-farmer. Had a A3 permission to carry tools and weapons around.
Jason — before WitherStorm had a baker education, but after that needed to get quick courses of lawyer. Has A2 permission with Warrior Education.
Jessica — didn't go to college, instead she managed to get one GGC and became an archer. Has A2 permission with Warrior Education.
Olivia — originally went to become librarian, but shortly after WitherStorm got en engineer degree and kept improving it. Has A3 permission to carry tools and weapons around.
Axel — went to college, Undertale that it's not for him, took farmer courses and became a shepherd since he love animals and sheep especially. After WitherStorm needed to take lawyer courses like Jason. Has A3 permission to carry tools and weapons around.
Lukas — went to college to get a calligrapher degree just for his own entertainment since his family is wealthy, he doesn't really need to work.
Petra — didn't go to college, but took a lot of long and deep courses on sales, mob-farmera, archeology and ect. to become the best merchant. She also has a Warrior Education and A2 permission to carry tools and weapons around.
Aiden — has one college degree: architect. Took courses of combat, never really tried to have a Warrior Education until after WitherStorm. So now he has a Warrior Education and A2 permission to carry tools and weapons around.
Maya — had one college degree: teacher. Unlike with treehouse gang, she gets along with children just perfectly. Though after WitherStorm Aiden made her take combat courses, so now she's a teacher with A3 permission to carry tools and weapons around.
Gill — has no college degree, but took artist courses. The same like Maya was forced by Aiden to take combat courses and has A3 permission to carry tools and weapons around.
If you haven't read about weapons and tools permission, you can read it here!
Back to random silly things!
Jessica's and Jason's parents are divorced and took them apart at the age of 5, and even if they did visited each other from time to time, in the beginning of WitherStorm arc they are not very close and Jessica is far away, do she doesn't participate.
Rueben will be alive:3
Both Petra and Gabriel will be effected by withersickennes and it won't fade as soon as WitherStorm going to be destroyed.
Withersickennes works completely different from in game: after WitherStorm there's going to be a while epidemic, people who were effected by amnesia will have a chance to never remember anything and/or get withersickennes after. Those who were effected by withersickennes will have lower chances of survival.
Aiden as well as Gill both will be effected by withersickennes while trying to save Maya from tracker bim.
Gill has a sheep-pet named Sammy! It'll be safe after WitherStorm and thanks to them Axel and Gill will gain a friendship after Portal Network Arc!
Got kinda tired here, ehehe, so that's all for this moment! Hope y'all enjoyed<3

here's a list of shows and series that i feel are really cool and have really cool fandoms but i haven't fully gotten into yet:
my qualification is i felt this exact way for many years about both tolkienverse and dimension20 and here i am an official lotr/bagginshield fancreator and also currently watching Fantasy High season 2 (ASO is my favourite IH campaign so far)
Jojo's Bizarre Adventures - one of my closest friends in college have been talking about this series for years. i trust her tastes with my entire being
The Magnus Archives - someone made a fanart with the audio recording of Jon and Martin saying the whole "it's rotten work" "not to me, not if it's you" and this has been on my radar ever since. i have listened to the first like 20 episodes many moons ago but from what i've read it'll pick up gradually. also i rarely read/watch scary stuff ok
Epic the Musical - one of my all-time favourite artists has done an animatic for one of the songs and "Warrior of the MInd" was on my musical playlist rotation at some point
Revolutionary Girl Utena - the shoujo girlies who consistently tell people that this show is not a romcom and to read the TWs and CWs for this series? so much respect for them. i'd trust them with my ao3 history and that is saying something!!

The Begrudging Adventures of Magnus the Human and Dave the Vampire.
@lamone-gerkin wanted Vampire and Human friendship shenanigans so here they are!
Word Count- 1k
[A/N- Most of this was written on mobile so it might be formatted weird!]
If you would have asked Magnus how he ended up with the grand old house as a broke college student, he would have offered you it for fajitas and an ice-cold beer.
Because the house, while it's a beautiful thing enough to make Gomez and Morticia proud…it came with a price. A major pain in the ass price.
His grandmother forgot to disclose the vampire that resides there and won't leave like a feral cat that's decided this is its home now.
Dave the literal vampire. Yes, Dave. Not Dracula or Vlad or even Belpherus. Just Dave, no last name.
It's been pretty fun with the ancient (1635 if he's to be believed) around, so many stories and lots of knowledge.
But let's just say he's not the most socially adept.
-
Magnus is lounging in his living room watching some Youtube. Today has been calm, suspiciously calm.
Then his house’s kitchen window can be heard slamming open, the annoying and grating sound of that vampire’s dress shoes clicking on the wooden floors. The foul stench of cigarette smoke accompanying Dave's arrival.
Sitting up slowly with a frown on his face, spotting the dracula wannabe grinning ear to ear. A cigarette hanging from his fanged mouth. “Why are you smoking a cigarette? You don't even breathe!” Magnus gripes, getting up to get to the fire detectors before they can start with their shrill screams.
“It's called an aesthetic, Magnus. Get with the times.” Dave seems amused, flicking the ash into an empty mountain dew can. When one looks at Dave they think that this man has watched too much Scooby-Doo. And even he isn't shy about his vampire status, because who in the sweet Mother Mary's name would believe him other than fellow vampires?
“You are making my house stink.”
Dave blows smoke in Magnus’s direction, “Get better ventilation.”
“Step into sunlight, bats.” Magnus chucks that very same mountain dew can at the overgrown Chiroptera.
-
The night was dark as an unexpected storm rolled in, lightning and thunder shaking the very foundation of the old house. What's to be expected of a house built in the 1800s?
Magnus lays asleep on his bed, the old mattress creeping with every move he makes. Tossing and turning as if he's trying to run away from some unseen force in the dream world. Oblivious to the happenings around his form…
Squeak. Thump. Squeak. Thump. Angry and rapid squeaking noise. A mouse caught in a trap can't figure out how to escape.
And then something landing in the fireplace and loud Romanian curses.
Magnus shot up out of bed at the intrusion, dazed and confused but letting out a startled undignified yelp at the sight of a man standing over him.
“W-what are you doing in my room?!” He asks, completely bewildered at the rain soaked figure holding something in its hands.
A deep and raspy voice answers him, sharp fangs glinting as lightning fills the sky, “Magnus…I made bread, do you want some? Do you like banana bread?”
-
Magnus has had it up to Here with Dave leaving these creepy ass artefacts and vampiric items around the house. This dead rabbit in the fridge next to his leftover pizza was the last straw, the stench of dead rabbit permeating into the entire inside of the refrigerator. Great, there goes that half eaten banana bread neither of them had the sense to wrap up before storing it on the top shelf.
So a trip to the grocery store was required, leaving behind the sleeping bat-man in the coffin in the second bedroom. Oh yeah, that bloodsucker had moved from the crumbling basement to the only guest room that looked decent. “It’ll be better for our friendship, Magnus!” Yeah right, as if an even closer proximity would help Magnus not want to band his head into the walls repeatedly.
So to the store he went, too fed up to care about the strange looks he was getting from those passing by as he mumbled about getting rid of the vampire in his house. He must look like a crackhead the way he’s debating what type of wooden garden stake would be more effective to stab someone with.
Into the buggy went three different types of garlic, silver butter knives, a Live, Laugh, Love themed cross, and coconut water because where in the world would he get holy water? It’ll just have to do for now.
Sneaking the bags into the house was an operation all on its own, Dave had wicked hearing. There is absolutely no hiding the action of opening a bag or chips or cracking open a soda on the other side of the house without him coming running to steal a sip or bite. But somehow Mangus manages it, Going through the process of setting the new items around the house in his usual spots to stop Dave from getting near him.
Finally! The mortal man can have some peace and quiet away from the self-proclaimed thing called Dave.
Grabbing a beer from the garage fridge and throwing himself into the recliner across from the old tv. The jars and bushels of garlic sit on the table and armchair around him. The smell can be dealt with for a little alone time.
The creaking of someone coming down the stairs makes him smile thinking he’s won this time, Not today you little shit.
That is until Dave stops, mid stretch when he sees the garlic and Magnus looking smug. Walking across the living room, his shoes clicked against the hardwood. In one fell swoop Dave picks up a head of garlic and takes a bite. Of. raw. Garlic. That smile the vampire dawns only lasts a few seconds, long enough to wipe that look off Magnus’s face before Dave starts sputtering and spitting the vegetable out onto the accent rug. “Ugh, so gross.”
Magnus downs the beer before getting up and walking out into the backyard in defeat.
So much for that plan.

actually regarding that last post, i can map out the timeline of my book/series obsessions pretty well.
kindergarten-1st grade: The Chronicles of Narnia
1st-2nd grade: Nancy Drew
2nd-3rd grade: various horse books, including The Pony Pals, The Black Stallion, Black Beauty, and various Marguerite Henry books including King of the Wind, Misty of Chincoteague, and Brighty of the Grand Canyon
4th-5th grade: Redwall, Guardians of Ga'Hoole, and Warriors (my "talking animals" era)
5th-8th grade: this was my Harry Potter era
5th-8th grade: this also happened to be my DRAGON era, where i became obsessed with pretty much anything that had a dragon on the cover, notably including Eragon, Hatching Magic, The Last Dragon Chronicles, The Dragons In Our Midst series by Bryan Davis, The Dragon Keepers Chronicles by Donita K. Paul, and Dragon's Blood by Jane Yolen. my mom would not let me read dragonriders of pern at this age and i resented her for it.
(there was also a short period of time in 5th-6th grade where i became obsessed with the Star Wars: Jedi Apprentice books)
7th-9th grade: my STAR TREK era, and also around the time i discovered the existence of fanfiction.
i don't remember if i had a specific book series i was into at this point in time, although this is when i first read Bone and realized comics could be longer than the stuff in the newspaper.
9th-10th grade: this is where my comics era TRULY began, starting with X-Men and a whole slew of webcomics, including Gunnerkrigg Court, The Wotch, Darths and Droids, The Order of the Stick, Shortpacked!, Questionable Content, and Homestuck.
I don't remember if I was particularly hooked on a book series at this point--I vaguely remember feeling like all the books actually aimed at my age were a combination of unnecessarily edgy and uncomfortably sex/romance-obsessed, books for younger kids were too dumb/simple, and books for adults were mostly uninteresting because they weren't about experiences i cared about or could relate to.
11th-12th grade through sophomore year of college: DISCWORLD DISCWORLD DISCWORLD, i discovered discworld and DEVOURED those books.
this time period was also my Batman era
12th grade-junior year of college: my Avengers/MCU and SuperWhoLock eras
this is kinda when i mostly stopped reading books for pleasure? apart from my ongoing Discworld phase, i didn't read a whole lot of fiction books that weren't for school.
senior year of college: Undertale, Ace Attorney, and Hatoful Boyfriend all happened to me in this year, i was too busy with them to read actual books. also i think this is around the time i hit on The Adventure Zone
master's degree years: Critical Role and Evan Dahm's Overworld Tales comics
i don't actually remember what fandoms i was cycling through between the end of my master's degree and the Plague Years, apart from my Homestuck Revival Period.
Pre-Plague Era: Homestuck Revival Period.
Plague Years (part one): The Magnus Archives, Rusty Quill Gaming, and Stellar Firma
Plague Years (part two): Hollow Knight, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood and Manga
The-Plague-Isn't-Really-Over-But-Let's-All-Pretend-It-Is: The Untamed, leading into Scum Villain. Also, the Locked Tomb.
Post-Move Era: Trigun and Revolutionary Girl Utena
Now: idk currently it's Hollow Knight but like two weeks ago it was Batman and before that it was MDZS/CQL again for a hot second, i'm just kinda floundering around at the moment and haven't found a new series to get obsessed with for.... a pretty long while actually? i know i COULD start things and there are many many things on my to watch/read/listen list but starting new things is Incredibly Difficult and has been for a while now actually.

Artist Challenge! Feat. Chrysanthe (@99corentine )
hooh BOY look at all these Chry's! Look at all his armours aha! I had a lot of fun with these, drawing all these scenarios haha features lots of references from GOL HAH DOV!
I tried my best to translate these and squish all the texts together without getting rid of the original watermarks... so sorry if they look confusing! (computer texts look so bad..)
Image Description below!
1ST: Around a campfire Chrysanthe, Lucien and Teldryn set up somewhere in Solstheim, Chrysanthe visibly struggles to finish the Ash Yam soup in his hands after trying it. Lucien tells Teldryn “Told you it's terrible!”, referring to the Ash Yam soup that now both Lucien and Chrysanthe dislikes. Teldryn replies “Tsk. You uncultured N'wahs.” as he enjoys ash yams and is annoyed his two companions don't. Chrysanthe is wearing Steel Plates Armour.
2ND: In one of the early days of Chrysanthe's adventuring, before the whole Dragonborn ordeal, Chrysanthe, Lucien and Erandur travel in nordic tombs. Chrysanthe, wearing Steel Armour, pulls at a lever and suddenly getting shot by poison dart traps. This causes him to be poisoned and he pukes blood. Erandur and Lucien are surprised by this sudden trap in the background.
3RD: Takes place after Chry killed Ancano and saved the day in the College of Winterhold. Hooray! Tolfdir is telling Chry, holding the Staff of Magnus and wearing hooded college robes, to be the new Arch-Mage and Chry is highly disinterested lol
4TH: Chrysanthe in the quest The House Of Horrors, a quest located in the Abandoned House in Markarth. He just killed Vigilant Tyranus, the Vigilant sent to investigate the house with the player but is then convinced by Molag Bal to kill you. Chry hesitantly killed him, and is very, very disturbed :)c
5TH: The very morning after Chrysanthe's first telepathy with Miraak in the Winterhold inn. Thanks to Lucien, offscreen, he's covered in a fluffy blanket with tea. He's in a very bad state as he tries his best not to collapse in front of Lucien again.
6TH: The honey smut from chapter 16 of GHD ;)) Chry and Miraak are sitting opposite each other near a lake as the sun sets in the background. They are both sweating and little hearts can be seen popping up from below :)
7TH: Entirely a made-up scenario of a possible post-GHD scene where Chry and Miraak are living together and Chry accidentally catches Miraak finish taking a bath in the bathroom. Miraak is facing the door with his body visibly nude and wet as Chry stands at the door, surprised and flustered at the view.
8TH: Chry in ebony armour! with Lucien next to him as they pose like the meme from Spiderman: Into The Spiderverse. HMMN are on top of them as it is a sound Chry makes a lot. sksksk

What are your personal favorite podcasts?
Mod Nic here, I just got access to the askbox (Thank you Mods Kat and Axe!) and I'll be getting to the asks and submissions in chronological order except I wanted to answer this first.
My top three podcasts I can't rank because they all feel incomparable. They are Welcome to Night Vale, Wolf 359, and Friends at the Table.
Welcome to Night Vale: A classic. I've listened to this at least four times. Of course, 20 new episodes come out a year (plus bonus episodes on Patreon and liveshows on Bandcamp) so I haven't listened to every episode four times, because on each listen it gets longer and longer. I found it summer of 2013 when I was on an international road trip and could only check Tumblr on my iPod Touch when the hostel/motel/airport/ferryport had WiFi. Everyone was talking about it so I used the Apple podcast app (before it was subsumed by iTunes (before it was later rejected by iTunes)) for the first time. I remember coming back to the US and being at my grandparents and excited for a good WiFi connection and a lack of time pressure so that I could reblog Night Vale art like everyone else. My comfort podcast. Despite many people comparing any fiction podcast to Welcome to Night Vale, the first one to feel similar on an emotional level to me is Hello From The Hallowoods. It has the same sense of yes, the world is filled with horrors, but life is beautiful nonetheless. A narrator's gentle voice will tell me the happenings of many people who may or may not know each other but still make up a broader community.
Wolf 359: This is not the first non-Night Vale podcast I listened to, but it was the one that unlocked podcasts for me. The first one that I could track easily and was always eager for the next episode. The first one that was dangerous for my sleep and my homework the way that books are dangerous — once I start I can't put it down. I started it early fall of 2016 at the beginning of my junior year of college. I remember walking around parks playing Pokémon Go and coloring a page of an adult coloring book. I believe I caught up at Memoria, which was amazing timing. Opposite of a comfort podcast. I think I've listened to seasons 1–3 twice, but since the show finished I can't listen to more than an episode without getting devastated by emotions. Second media property I've ever had a fic idea for that I really want to write.... just as soon as I can manage a relisten. Not really comparable except for that it also has a protagonist that is a diagetic narrator closely backed by an ensemble cast and a show-long plot (instead of a season-long plot), but Hi Nay is probably the fastest I've ever gone from hearing a podcast for the first time to backing it on Patreon (but it was more a replacement for The Magnus Archives in my listening schedule, turns out I need to be exercising to listen to horror).
Friends at the Table: An actual play podcast that ruined me for actual play podcasts. Started listening in 2017 after I needed to temporarily withdraw from school due to my health collapsing causing me to fail classes. I had been listening to The Adventure Zone, but I actually started it because so many amazing Wolf 359 fan artists and fic writers were making art and fic for F@tT and I just had to know what that was about. I caught up just in time to start with Spring in Hieron. Due to my personal audio issues, I often have no idea what's going on in the sci-fi seasons, but that hasn't stopped me from crying because of it anyways. I can give personalized recommended starting points if I know someone, but in general I'm a big advocate for starting with the very first episode. My favorite season is probably still Autumn in Hieron, despite the audio quality. The moment when an interpretation of a roll from a player caused the pirates to become undead pirates was probably the moment when I got excited about wanting to play tabletop roleplaying games myself. Since I found it I've bounced off of every single actual play podcast I've tried listening to, until a few months ago when I started the Ruin's Gate season of The Unexplored Places. Ruin's Gate has the distinction of being the first time I've been able to track what the rolls of a Forged in the Dark game mean from a narrative perspective instead of just a mechanics perspective.
