Code Red.
Every segment knows of this. An event that happens every month and usually lasts for a week. Yes, their darling's monthly period pain.
Dottore is already aware of it. He was the one who made the code after all.
He would already have the medicine and painkillers that you may need to help suppress those cramps you have to endure. Ibuprofen, naproxen, aspirin and the like. All prepared and organised in a certain shelf titled 'For Pain/Cramps' just in case needed.
Ah, ah, ah. You are not eating various sugary treats or those cravings you want. The only treat you can consume is dark chocolate. Dottore explained that said product has magnesium that can also help alleviate your pain. Doctor's orders after all.
Dottore usually wouldn't be bothered when others would scream at him. But hearing your voice curse and yell at him would make him flinch. He knows it's part of your mood swings and it's normal but sometimes he would be overthinking some of the words you would say until you had to force it outta him during your post-period state.
If Dottore is busy in his laboratory or on a mission while you're on your period, he would send some of his segments to take care of you.
Dottore made sure to write a list of things needed for you and to take note of your mood swings because each emotion or reaction you show has various meanings that the segment has to understand to be able to handle the situation.
The segments, mostly the younger ones during Dottore's pre-fatui era, would be panicking over you. They read the notes given to them, yes. But did they understand? Absolutely not. They haven't taken care of you like this before but they were the ones ordered by Dottore himself to take care of you since they were available.
The segments even suggested of immediately putting you in the operating room right when they saw the blood staining your sheets and coming from down there. They thought that one of your organs must have popped and could require medical treatment immediately.
Dottore had to step in and rescue you right after Omega informed him that you were about to have surgery just because of some measly blood. He couldn't blame his segments for being so idiotic, he once thought you had an internal bleeding that he didn't examined carefully when he first found out about your period.
After that incident, he decided to hold a small meeting between himself and his segments and informed them of your monthly pain. He made sure the segments don't even bother to think of trying anything else to fix you other than follow the instructions he laid out when your menstrual cycle arrives.
Dottore may have forgot to inform them about the mood swings.
Later on, he found his segments sulking in the corner of your room with a hurt look plastered across their faces.

"I blame you for this, Gamma."
"I didn't do anything! I was only giving her the medicine! Besides, Epsilon was supposed to bake treats for her."
"She already ate them all!"
"Enough of your chatter and stand up. She's acting like that because of her mood swings. It's part of her monthly cycle. So stop whining and get to work."
Yes, Dottore wrote down every little thing needed to do whenever you had your period but he left out a certain thing. Affections.
Any simple act of physical affection that he would initiate is already enough to keep you stable. From cuddles to forehead and cheek kisses all the way to whispering sweet words into your ear is enough to stop your mood swings from going haywire.
He wouldn't let his other segments know about it, just because they're him from different time periods doesn't mean he would let them give you affections. How ironic of him to be jealous of himself.
Nonetheless, when it comes to you, you are his and his alone.

depressed leon, BUT (this is gross btw)
he's a little too sad to remember to eat sometimes, and thus, he's a bit malnourished. not dangerously so, nothing extreme or of imminent concern, but he's not doing so hot health wise.
because of this, his post-plaga cravings get really weird and really ramp up after the malnutrition thing starts to get a little spicy. (that's what you get for only drinking alco- err.... coffee + whatever garbage carbs on the gas station shelf)
you'd think he was pregnant by the way he's craving oddities. if uh, a pregnant person wanted to gobble up roadkill pelican style.
one day he gets this... wild idea. he's embarrassed about it, so he's doing his best to hide it. and the cravings are just too strong to deny his overwhelming curiosity.
the roadkill he's snagged is particularly unpleasant. few days old, rotten and covered in maggots. it fuckin stinks. and stupid plaga-brain is fighting with rational human brain as his fucked brain chemistry can't decide to salivate or throw up.
he's craving meat. he's craving protein. salt. magnesium.... a fat steak isn't enough. greasy ass salty fries ain't doing it either.
carrion beetles, fly larva, ants, everything goes in on the grill, which he's definitely stealing after he's done. (it's a public park and he doesn't want anyone getting sick.)
it's the dead of night. he's made sure he's alone.
the mystery road meat... he can't tell what the smell is now as it cooks but plaga-brain is going crazy. even without a trace of the physical parasite, it's permanently fucked his brain.
he's got sauces with him to cover up the expected terrible taste and... well, he's fucking devouring it. no seasonings, nothing.
at least he cooked it, right?
and... he still uses the sauces. and a different sauce. chocolate sauce. why? why?? why is he enjoying this? it's a nightmare and he's snapping the bones for the fuckin bone marrow now.
the only thing he doesn't eat is the fur.
bonus: there was a bonus rat inside that got stuck when he wrapped up his free meal. like a chocolate cream egg. the rat being the cream.

Hello hello! Time for a tour of my medical cart! I'll put everything under a cut for length.
Below is a picture of my 4 tier cart. I'm only just starting to decorate it, though.

I'll start from the bottom and work my way up.
At the bottom, I have my most important meds and supplements that are important that I have accessible. These are mainly to refill the med box but if I need a dose of whatever and the box is empty, I can just reach down here and get what I need. I also have a heating pad handy in case of bad pain. I won't include a picture here because some med bottles have my name and info on them.

The next tier up, I have snacks and tea bags. I also have a little jar holding some utensils if need be. I also have electrolyte drink mix for ease of access, and honey for my tea.

On the tier above that, it's general sick supplies. On the left I have various topical treatments and lotions for pain or whatever, as well as spare deodorant and magnesium spray. Towards the middle, I have vomit bags for my frequent nausea, cold spray for intense pain, instant hot packs, and dude wipes for whatever I need when I'm really sick. On the right, I have actual sick supplies. Tums, medicated vitamin drops, cough drops, nasal sprays, Benadryl in 2 forms, and a thermometer because I get fevers a lot.

And finally, the drawer under the top shelf. The top shelf is literally just a surface to set things, so I have my spare glasses there. I also have my cane propped up on the top as well, in case I need it while walking unassisted. The drawer, however, has my med box, some chapstick, loop earplugs, a pulse ox, and some essential oils for pain/migraines. Not shown in the back of the drawer are some compression items (gloves and calf sleeves).
On top, like I said, is just a flat surface, so I can really put anything there. Typically I keep some cough drops/ginger candy there, as well as that day's meds and my glasses.
And there you have it! That's my tour of my medical cart as it stands right now. In the future, I plan on getting bigger wheels for the cart, and maybe decorating it a little more. But as for the contents, I think I'll keep it as is. Let me know if you have questions or want suggestions!

The Anatomy of the 427 SOHC – Ford’s Answer to the HEMI that was banned from NASCAR and went drag racing.
What is the most feared engine ever to come out of Ford? A very subjective question – but the Boss 302, 427 Tunnel Port, Boss 429 come to mind. All these are candidates, but a lot of people would say that distinction belongs to the 427 SOHC. Mostly referred to as a 427 “Cammer” or “Sock”.
1964 was the year that Richard Petty won the Daytona 500 with the new Dodge 426 Hemi. Ford was running the 427 Hi-Riser that year and won the majority of NASCAR races. The writing was on the wall and the boys at Ford had to come up with an answer to the new Hemi. Within 90 days, Ford took what it learned from the 255ci Dual Overhead Cam Indy motor and applied it to the bulletproof 427ci FE motor. The displacements started at 332ci and grew to 428ci. The baddest of the bad of these were the 427’s and the King of the 427’s is the 427 SOHC!
The shortblock for the “cammer” was basically all 427 hi-riser. Ford wanted to keep the cost down by using as many off-the-shelf parts as it could. The crank was the 427 forged steel version that was cross-drilled at both the mains and rods. This crank with the steel hi-riser connecting rods and special “hemi-head” pistons was the ticket needed to live at 7500 rpms. Increased oil pressure and updated water pump helped to keep all fluids flowing no matter what the conditions were.
The main thing that drew your eyes to this motor was the massive valve covers, which were made from magnesium. One look and you knew that this was no ordinary engine. The heads were cast iron and wide. With a machined combustion chamber putting the compression ratio at 12.0:1. The intake ports were a “tunnel port” design that fed 2.25″ intake valves and through 1.90″ exhaust valves, gases exited out D shaped exhaust ports. Hollow stem intake valves were used and the exhaust valve stem were sodium filled to help control the heat that is generated at 7500 rpms.
The first public mention of the Cammer V8 appeared in the Daytona Beach Morning Journalon Feb. 23, 1964. Beaten up at Daytona all month by the new 426 Hemi engines from the Dodge/Plymouth camp, Ford officials asked NASCAR to approve an overhead-cam V8 the company had in the works. But as the Journal reports here, NASCAR boss Bill France turned thumbs down on Ford’s proposed engine. France regarded overhead cams and such to be European exotica, a poor fit with his down-home vision for Grand National stock car racing.
Even though France barred the SOHC V8 from NASCAR competition, Ford proceeded to develop the engine anyway, hoping to change Big Bill’s mind. In May of 1964, a ’64 Galaxie hardtop with a Cammer V8 installed was parked behind Gasoline Alley at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, where the assembled press corps could get a good look at it.
On October 19, 1964, NASCAR moved to ban all “special racing engines,” in its words, eliminating both the Cammer Ford and the Chrysler 426 Hemi from Grand National competition for 1965. Chrysler responded by temporarily withdrawing from NASCAR, while Ford continued on with its conventional 427 pushrod engine in NASCAR and took the SOHC engine to the drag strips.
Despite heavy lobbying from Ford, in December of 1965 NASCAR again banned the Cammer for 1966, with USAC piling on (Spartanburg Herald-Journal, December 18, 1965 above). However, in April of 1966 NASCAR finally relented. Sort of. Okay, not really. The Cammer was now allowed, technically, but only in the full-size Galaxie model, limited to one small four-barrel carb, and with an absurd, crippling weight handicap: nearly 4400 lbs, 430 lbs more than the Dodge and Plymouth hemis. At that point Ford said no thanks and dedicated the Cammer to drag racing. The engine never turned a lap in NASCAR competition.
Ford made the Cammer widely available in the drag world, providing engine deals to nitro racers Tom Hoover, Pete Robinson, Connie Kallita, and a host of others. Among the most successful Cammer-equipped drag cars were the 1966-67 Comet flip-top funny cars (Don Nicholson, Eddie Schartman, et. al.) and Mickey Thompson’s dominating ’69 Mustang team starring Danny Ongais and Pat Foster.

FEEDING THE WORLD RESULTS IN INFERIOR QUALITY FOOD
There is just one big problem with the world's human population doubling in the last seventy years, and that's a question of how do they all get fed?
It seems that the more intensive the farming, the less nutritious the food. Miserable old timers will tell any youngster prepared to listen, that tomatoes don't have the taste they had back in their youth.
The same goes for most supermarket goods, from fruit to veg, and jams to bread.
There was once a time not so log ago, that farmers would typically grow one crop a year for three years and then leave the fourth as a fallow year, to help the soil. Today, it is often the case that they squeeze two crops a year and with the aid of chemical fertilizers, there is no rest year.
Soil degradation results in a situation where in tomatoes for example, there is ninety percent less vitamin and mineral content as there was just fifty years ago. And so the old ones that complain about lack of flavour, are correct.
With so many people to feed, food has become a powerful global industry. The little old town shops with specialists in fish, or butchers, along with greengrocers and bakers, are nearly all gone. Business is mostly taken over by giant food conglomerates and their cohorts, the giant supermarkets.
Shelf-life is the common mantra of these sorts of outlets, and along with the general tasteless crops, it is necessary to add sugar, salt and many other artificial preservatives, flavour enhancers, and colouring agents.
Is it any wonder we have so many problems with obesity, diabetes, IBS and most worryingly, mental well-being, now that we know the gut and the brain are virtually one organ, connected by a powerful nerve system.
Ultra processed food is not good for general health. If you are lucky to live in the country and have some patch of land, the obvious thing is to start growing your own. Keep free range chickens and make your own bread with good whole flour.
Sourdough bread is the best, and it's not difficult to make with a little practice. Nearly all white super supermarket bread is made from heavily refined grain that when eaten, turns carbohydrates into sucrose so quickly, that diabetics can get a very sudden sugar spike that is not good for blood sugar levels.
Some form of flushing the gut can help shift some of the problems ultra processed foods create.
