#81 - Magnemite (Ruby, Omega Ruby)
Magnemite attaches itself to power lines to feed on electricity. If your house has a power outage, check your circuit breakers. You may find a large number of this Pokémon clinging to the breaker box.

As a 30-something who personally refused to acknowledge anything past the Dawn of The Duel era of Yu-Gi-Oh, just know that it took me one (1) peach ring amanita gummy to watch and enjoy Vrains, God I'm so old hearing the modern slang in the dialogue is fuckgin throwing me this is the exact sentiment our grandma-ancestors had at some point in their lives watching pop culture evolve and change. I'm officially Old now.

and now to reveal the true purpose of a pokemon au: giving all the characters pokemon so I can imagine cute little scenarios w/ them and their mons.
So for ‘Hikaru’ I’m feeling a Ninetales and Yanma. Ninetales was Hikaru’s; Yanma he caught in the summer. The stone for evolving Vulpix was a gift from his late father, and he had the Vulpix much earlier than was typical training age. Yoshiki can’t remember a time Hikaru didn’t have a Pokemon by his side. At the same time, Hikaru was never very good with Pokemon, so Ninetales remained the only member of his team.
Then Yoshiki has a Grimer, Teddiursa, and Murkrow. He got the Grimer as a kid while visiting Tokyo as they’re quite common in densely populated areas- less so in cleaner rural areas, making it’s an odd sight in Kubitachi. Teddiursa is a much more common pokemon, and while it is cute, its evolution is less so for how dangerous it is. Murkrow are generally despised as pests. Known pranksters, the ones on the mountains are blamed for a lot of missing people as they’re known to lead people astray. Yoshiki’s team choices are widely discussed and criticized.
Next few are less set in stone:
Asako: Azumarill, Flaafy
Yuuki: Ivysaur
Maki: Elekid, Magikarp (based on two in-universe baseball teams)

#82 Magneton The Magnet Pokemon
Ah yes, the lost art of "smoosh 3 Pokemon together to make a new Pokemon". At least because of the magnet thing it makes more sense than Dugtrio. A silly design choice but honestly its a little nostalgic.

Nuzlocke: Continued + Vs: Hop and Marnie + Enter: Pringle + Evo: SNES + RIP: SNES...
I am BACK
After who knows how long, I'm back in me nuzlocke. I may have forgotten about this, but I remembered today.
I walked out of the Pokemon gym and encountered Sonia at the entrance waiting for me. She invited me to a restaurant to celebrate my victory against Melony.
Once I arrived at the restaurant, Hop was waiting there to celebrate with us. Sonia talks about researching the Darkest Days recently and-
Wait. That tapestry in the back of looks interesting...
I think it's actually the last bit of the story of the legend.
The sword and the shield (which turned out to be the pokemon we encountered in the Slumbering Wield) were hidden away after they helped to stop the Darkest Day. At least, that's my understanding of it.
We end up discussing it more with Sonia over some food, coming up with the goal of snooping around the Hero's Bath in Circhester for more info.
Once we're there, we have a talk about the place's history. The Hero's Bath is where the heroes of Galar cleaned themselves of their battle wounds after stopping the Darkest Day. Perhaps Hop and I could be the next heroes.
To prove ourselves as the next heroes, Hop challenges me to a battle, and I gladly accept.
You are challenged by Pokémon Trainer Hop!
He leads with his Dubwool while I lead with Vee the Flareon. Not knowing what he could do, I decided to burn him with Will-O-Wisp. He uses Defense Curl before I can Burn him. After he uses Defense Curl again, I used Fire Fang, doing about half of Dubwool's HP (with the Hail and Burn damage helping). After Another Defense Curl, I use Fire Fang once again. Now at Veeery low HP, I Try to use Quick Attack to finish him off but Hop uses a Hyper Potion, healing it back to full. Fortunately, Quick Attack lands a Critical Hit, bringing Dubwool down to less than Half thanks to Hail and Burn. Dubwool Growls me, reducing my attack, letting it live yet another Fire Fang. Quick Attack doesn't net the KO, but Hail and Burn damage do.
His next Pokemon is Pincurchin, so I send out Dig Dug the Excadrill to counter it. Well, first I set up Stealth Rocks for the rest of this battle and tank a Bubble Beam pretty well. Fortunately, one High Horsepower is enough to KO Pincurchin in one hit.
Cinderace is next, so I sent out Goldeneye the Inteleon to deal with it. After taking Stealth Rock damage, a single Snipe Shot KOs Cinderace.
Hop's 4th mon is Snorlax, so Striker the Urshifu comes out to deal with it in a single Critical Brick Break.
Hop's final Pokemon is a Corviknight, and I decide that Goldeneye is the best mon to deal with it since Vee is battered and bruised. Goldeneye uses Scald, which doesn't KO but does land the 30% Burn, which lets it take the following Drill Peck really well. A Snipe Shot secures the battle as a Victory, with quite a few pokemon leveling up during it.
After the battle, Sonia decides to try and explore the Slumbering Wield while Hop plans on taking on the rest of the gyms.
After Hop runs off, Sonia decides to tell me that Leon was worried about Hop. He seemed to have a gloomy air around him, but has seemed to have shaken it off by now. With Hop appearing better, Sonia decides to head off, leaving me alone with my next target in mind: Spikemuth.
Once I move to Route 9, I encounter a Jellicent. I catch him in a Net Ball and named him Pringle.
After adding a new buddy to my PC, I decided to battle the local trainers on the route, such as a Fisher and a Dancer.
I also decided to swap out Snips for a little bit since they were leveling up too fast. I put SNES the Magnemite in their place, evolving it up to a Magneton thanks to EXP Candies and Rare Candies I had in my bag.
After the battles, I ran across some Team Yell Grunts harassing the person that gave me the Rotom Bike. The grunts want to prevent people from going to Spikemuth and pretect a Drednaw for some reason... anyways, I am asked to battle them so I do.
You are Challenged by Team Yell Grunt!
They start with Galarian Linoone and I send out NES to lead. I use Discharge and put Linoone down to Red HP, and Linoone tries to use Counter, but Fails. The ever-present Hail KOs the Linoone.
Pangoro is next, so I send out Vee to cripple it with a Burn. Will-O-Wisp lands before Pangoro uses Taunt to prevent me from using it again. I use Fire Fang to bring Pangoro to Red Health and Pangoro retaliates with Crunch, lowering Vee's defense. Thanks to Hail, Burn, and one Silk Scarf boosted Quick Attack, Pangoro goes down.
And with that, the Team Yell Grunt is defeated. The duo of grunts run away back to Spikemuth on the back of Drednaw. Grateful for saving him, the person from earlier upgraded my bike so I'm able to ride on water. Neat. With my bike upgraded, I move through the rest of Route 9 to hopefully reach Spikemuth no problem. I encounter a few more trainers along the way, but it came with a devastating result.
As soon as he was added to the team, SNES was killed by a Pyukumuku with Innards Out. I had them for less than a day but he's already DEAD. I wasn't even able to form a bond with them AND I wasted all my EXP and Rare Candies on them! CURSE YOU, FISHER MARINA!!!!
After mourning SNES for an appropriate amount of time (8 hours) and re-adding Snips to my team, I head to Spikemuth only to find the doors into it locked. Great...
Well I guess this is where the story ends, roll credit- wait. Marnie is calling me over from around the side to help me sneak in via a secret entrance. But since she's my rival, she feels obligated to challenge me to a battle before I'm allowed entry to Spikemuth. sure. why not at this point.
You are challenged by Pokémon Trainer Marnie!
She leads with a Liepard and I send out Snips. A single Dazzling Gleam deals with Liepard easily, even taking a surprise Sucker Punch really well.
Toxicroak is next, and Air Slash disposes of it in a flash. This is beginning to feel unfair, Snips is too strong.
For Morpeko, I switch to Dig Dug Land a High Horsepower, KOing Morpeko in one hit. It did inflict me with Torment tho, so :/
The next pokemon is Scrafty, so I send in Striker to finish the battle with his newly learned Close Combat. It KOd in one hit.
And with that, Marnie is defeated. After beating her, she allowed me into Spikemuth. Once I'm in Spikemuth, I head into the Pokemon Center and heal up. This is where I will stop for today, and next time I post (whenever that may be), I'll be battling Piers. Farewell!
Team:
Striker the Urshifu
Snips the Togekiss
Goldeneye the Inteleon
Vee the Flareon
Dig Dug the Excadrill
Princess the Tsareena

I always forget that Magnezone is part of the Magnemite line
Like I am aware of Magnezone as a Pokemon but my mind always assumes that Magnemite only has two stages and Megnezone is just it's own thing

Somehow discovered that there's more Sandy shocks in my hybridization than just the tail. Like I actually have two pairs of the floaty magnet parts in stead of one pair, but one of them stretch like the ones a Sandy Shocks walks on.
i wonder how everyone i've met on here so far is doing woof...

Lazytown x Pokémon As Trainers!
Part 1
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the midst of my art block and overflowing mountain of WIPS, I had the impulsive idea to draw the characters as Pokémon trainers :D
... Including a Team Rocket member, too.
Thanks, Glanni 💀
It all started with me having the epiphany that, yes, I could 100% see Robbie with a Magnemite.
I have a whole second roster of characters lined up for the same idea, so keep an eye out for it! 😌

Pokémon #0081 - Magnemite
"Magnemite is commonly found in locations with a strong magnetic field, since it can be attracted to anything emitting electricity or a magnetic field. With modern electrical lines buried underground, however, wild Magnemite direct attacks on power plants have increased."

remember how you explained the euthanasia process for ghost types? how exactly do you euthanize inorganic pokemon that aren't even alive (in a traditional sense) to begin with? or are there just pokemon that simply can't be euthanized because of their unique properties?
it really depends on the pokemon. we haven't found any pokemon that cannot truly die as of yet, but providing a quick, painless death is a more difficult task.
generally, we look for whatever is sustaining the pokemon's body physically and target that. for example, a beldum or magnemite doesn't have a way for us to inject it with the anesthetic solution that we use most commonly for euthanasia, but it has a central processing center effectively equivalent to a brain that we can disrupt. you can euthanize a porygon by deleting certain lines of code. certain electrical pulse patterns can be used to euthanize more "mechanical" pokemon.
it's part of what's so difficult- and yet so interesting- about studying pokemon and being invested in their welfare. there's such an incredible range in what you can and can't do to take care of them depending on their species- and that includes giving them a peaceful death when necessary.

i think the most utopian part of the pokemon world is the careful balance between human advancement and nature. like the fact that humans have maintained a widespread relationship with nature and choose to preserve it even in the presence of large cities and civilization in general. it informs so much about the pokemon universe tbh. and most pokemon plots at their core revolve around the villain trying to disrupt that careful balance in some way which makes a lot of sense
i find pokemon like the grimer line and magnemite line interesting as well because they are pokemon born of pollution and factories and whatnot but people have also learned to coexist with them in a way that contributes back to nature such as muk eating garbage, therefore cleaning it up! like even when there’s negative side effects of human occupation of land it loops back around into supporting nature, too. us real life people need to do a little more of all of the above lol

Shiny review for the Magnemite line please?
Tumblr media
Magnemite: Shiny Magnemite's pretty good! Swapping out the red and blue magnet tips for plain black, combined with making the body a light cream instead of a blue, gives it a more "industrial" feeling that really fits the 'mon. The cream color also makes sure it's not overly monotone while keeping it nice and distinct from the original.
Tumblr media
Magneton: Shiny Magneton does mostly the same thing as Magnemite, and it works just as well here and is nice and consistent. My only complaint is that for some reason the magnets are a dull gray-on-gray, whereas Magnemite's are a light grey-on-black. It gives the magnets a very washed out feeling and looses the nice way shiny Magnemite's magnets complimented the gray screws.
Tumblr media
Magnezone: Magnezone is just kind of mid; it's not terrible but it could be better. Consistency-wise, it doesn't really fit with the others; instead of a cream body with a light gray top and screws, it has a light gray body with tan top and screws, which isn't quite as noticeable. More importantly, it also keeps the red and blue magnet tips for... some reason, instead of matching the gray/black of its pre-evos, which makes it look a lot more similar to its non-shiny counterpart. Oddly enough, earlier sprites show it with blue magnets—and while I still would've preferred black for consistency, this was more noticeable than what we got, so I'm not sure why they felt the need to change it.
Tumblr media
I also think the yellow antennae on the top could've done more than just be slightly lighter in color; maybe it could've also been gray or black. I will say though that I do like the blue eye, as I think it's clever that it swaps from red to blue to match the red and blue magnets. Apart from that, however, this one's pretty underwhelming.
Overall: Shiny Magnemite and Magnezone are both pretty solid. Shiny Magnezone is just okay; could be worse but could also be much better.
