Several posts kicking around in drafts I don't feel like finishing, so for now I'm just doing a little 'state of the clown union' update. I think this collection might be done. Like I look at them all together and think 'This seems like enough clowns.' (Technically not ALL of them but we'll get to that later.) Sure it's possible I may find another I can't live without at some point, but there are so many boring (or just ugly) ones to wade through I've already lost interest in looking. Maybe if I leave off for a few weeks the supply of cute ones will gradually replenish XD

Might have some actual newish fashion doll stuff to talk about next time if I get some energy back...I think I totally forgot to post about Decora Girlz Luna after I got her so if nothing else I owe you all some 'full band' photos of that line ;p And I still haven't decanted my Magic Mixies Pixling....

My local Walmart didn’t have any more Pixlings from the first wave of the Magic Mixies Pixlings, but they did have the Walmart Exclusive Flitta. I did not take a photo, but her potion bottle looks the same as Unia’s except it has imbedded glitter in both the gem and the handle (and has a completely different butterfly design on the thin plastic covering the potion bottle). Both have removable shoes and skirts (which are nicely detailed -better quality IMO than what Chelsea and the Enchantimals are wearing) but a bit hard to take off due to how tight the elastic is.

Their faces look very similar. Unia’s might be lightly wider than Flitta’s, and Unia has sculpted eyebrows, while Flitta does not. Their ears look to share the same base, with Flitta’s being added to at the base (and I love all the little butterfly wing details they gave her ears). Flitta has a little bit of product in her hair, but washed out easy enough and left her hair as soft as Unia’s. Both Unia and Flitta look like fae background characters to one of the animated Barbie movies. :)

Aaaaand their profiles. They might have different noses?

And a close up of Flitta’s make-up. She still has lightly pixelated screening (except for her lips). With her cute butterfly make-up reminding me of RH Poppy’s. She also has a very cute and unique hair style.

You can see how clear her butterfly screening is in comparison.

Now for her wings:

They’re a softer/rubbery like plastic with imbedded sparkles. They might look nice with some painted detail, but otherwise, it’s not too bad as a solid colored piece compared to her multi-colored outfit.

Even a little butterfly sculpted on the bottom of one of her shoes (the other one has a hole in it for her stand) along with the Magic Mixies Pixling logo.

She has a sculpted on outfit (which I’m still not over the moon about - but I appreciate how detailed it is and how they painted it). I also like that her arms are not covered in “long sleeves,” unlike Unia, and thus her little hands’ paint will not peel off like some of the finger tips of my Unia are already starting to do.

Now for comparisons to other (mostly) butterfly/moth dolls.

Both Luna and Bonita are much larger than Flitta and have the typical G1 Monster High articulation, removable clothes, and VERY detailed bodies. Luna is one of my favorite Monster High dolls, so I kinda prefer her over Flitta, but Flitta tries her best to stand out with these ghouls.

She’s so tiny! It’s fun to see how these different doll companies took the moth/butterfly concept. They all have different antenna and way different wing structures. Luna and Flitta both have pointed ears, while Bonita has no ears. Flitta thinks I need to compare her to some one more her size.

“Well, that’s a little better… ….what and who are these long lost cousins?” G2 Monster High’s Garden Ghouls: Beetrice, Wingrid, and Lumina. They are the teensie and shorter than Flitta and unfortunately have rubber and plastic (removable) clothing and I believe poly hair. They are much more difficult to pose compared to Flitta, due to their rubbery clothing and limited movement. They can only rotate their arms around (like an old school Barbie), and they can not lift their head up and down. They do have detailed bodies though.

They look like they might have had some cute potential, but we’re nerfed last minute towards the end of G2’s run (I had to order Beetrice online and, besides Treesa, never saw any of the other Garden Ghouls in store).

Anyways, the last Mattel doll I wanted to compare her to is Belisse Butterfly:

…which I don’t have… Enchantimals and Pixlings are very similar in size, both have removable skirts and shoes and limited articulation. Flitta has a bit more articulation than Belisse, and a much more detailed outfit/shoes and molded on clothing, ears and make-up.

I find it funny they have similar shaped antenna. …I still think I prefer Flitta’s concept and execution compared to Belisse….and her chubby butterfly Dart.

Here is a fun comparison, another Moose Toys product: Buddykins the Zelf:

“I love your sparkly outfit! Do you want to fly around the house knocking down all the dust bunnies off the shelves???”

“Do I ever!” Flitta really seems to take to Buddykins. Like I said in my Unia review, the Zelfs and Pixlings look very compatible with each other; like they are two different species of fae in the same world….or long lost cousins on the family tree.

These two butterflies have very similar shaped antenna (they might be a reused model….?) and their wings feel like they are made from the same material (which also has glitter inside of too).

Before I could get more photos of the two, they both flew off to chase some dust bunnies.

All in all, I really like Flitta (she gives me mischievous fairy vibes and I love it) and I still really love the Pixling line so far….despite the molded on clothes, lack of knee joint and their large potion bottles that a younger me would have loved but older me could do with out.

Stuff I got at the goodest of wills.

Actually, is it that good? It's pretty pricey, and the corporate structure leaves a lot to be desired. ANyway, not the point.

One of the first things I saw was a little Sailor Moon Luna plush in a pack with a Pusheen and a Magic Mixie(?):

I got it for my sister, and then I saw this second Luna, which I also got for my sister and gave to her early because her birthday's not for eight months.

(I didn't take a picture before I gave it to my sister, so I got one from ebay, but it's this one. She even still had a $35 price sticker on the tag. Yeow!)

I headed to the bagged toy wall, and found this bag of bags of kit pieces. They're just cheap, unbranded things from amazon apparently, but since I don't shop at amazon and I love doing little robot kits, I got the bag.

I slapped one together on the couch while watching tv, and it was a lot harder than I thought! I'll need to clean the flash up, but I gotta say... it's really fun lmao.

Another bag of things I got was this jewelry supplies bag:

I wasn't sure about it at first, but honestly this bag was chockablock with stuff that I'm always looking for but rarely have on hand, some cute little things, and some stuff I'll have to try to look up. (And also a tiny little newspaper and some Colt 45s, randomly.)

It also had two sealed bags of stuff I really wanted to look at inside, which were interesting. The zodiac charms are charmingly misspelled, but they didn't have gemini :/ Also the earrings were kind of what pushed me to buy this, but they look like torture devices.

Not pictured are the most expensive things: a black dress with a waist cincher that I think I can wear to Faire (which is starting on the first! Oh no!), and some shorts to wear under my costume. (technically visible in a picture above tho)

And I gotta say, the main (only?) downside to wearing a mask while shopping is that sometimes I don't notice when something smells like cigarettes until I get it home and toss it in the wash without paying attention. And that was a soak-and-wash with borax and washing soda. Yuck.

I also bought this color-of-the-week bedsheet (it was $2 Thursday babee!) to make into a skirt because.... because it reminded me of the Stunticons... and I just finished reading a really enjoyable fic featuring them, so...

Oh, hey buddy.

But like... doesn't it sort of? Like, that could be Drag Strip, and uh Breakdown has blue in him sorta, and... and that could be Dead End? Or Lightning McQueen honestly. Maybe he's a Stunticon. I've never seen the movie.

Either way, I wanted fabric I wouldn't feel terrible about using up to make a skirt because I get anxiety over using up all my materials, for no reason! And I want a car skirt, obviously.

And now I gotta go back to not buying everything I see. kbai~!

I thought at first she might be the hidden/limited edition version of Luna, but based on the art on the back of Luna's box showing the hidden, she doesn't seem to be. The listing calls her Luna the Butterfly, but the box says 'Exclusive Rainbow Aria', so that's probably her name, making her the next exclusive pixling-adjacent doll (after Wynter, Flitta, Angelica, and maybe Bearlinda). Odd that her main box art looks almost identical to Luna's (pose, expression, etc.) Maybe they're all just drawn like that? We don't have stock photos that show Skylar's box art, so it's possible.

She also looks a lot like the limited edition hidden Unia in the Shimmerverse line. To the point that my first thought on seeing her was, "Oh, a Supremes version of Unia, that's cool." She doesn't seem to actually be a unicorn though. I think the Supremes are all butterflies, since they all have identical wings and antennae.

I'm looking forward to finding out more about her for sure :D

Magic Mixies Pixie Supremes Comprehensive Comparison (December 2024)

The Magic Mixies Pixie Supremes are 10-inch fashion dolls from Moose Toys, based on their highly successful line 'Magic Mixies Pixlings', 6-inch mini dolls of humanoid fantastical creatures or animals such as polar bears, fire horses, and deer. The Pixie Supremes and Pixlings have very similar head molds and facial screenings, as well as gems embedded in the dolls' foreheads. There are currently three Pixie Supremes: Luna, Skylar, and Aria. All are based on butterflies.

Luna & Shimmer Luna

Luna was the first Supreme to be revealed, and is the only non-exclusive. I've personally seen her for sale at Target and on Amazon. She has a butterfly-wing themed dress, a small butterfly beauty mark beneath her mouth, and a light pink and blue hair blend. Her color scheme is primarily purple and blue.

1 in 6 Luna's are the rare "shimmer" variant with an altered dress and a pink and blue color scheme.

"Shimmer" Luna has red lipstick instead of purple, and her butterfly beauty spot is red as well, and there's tinsel in her hair.

Comparing irl photos from two unboxings on YouTube (normal Luna unboxing from Zombiexcorn, shimmer Luna unboxing from Kaya&Dolls) the shimmer Luna *might* have more pink in her eye makeup, but it's honestly hard to tell, might just be a trick of different lighting.

The dress is obviously the biggest difference, but Shimmer's shoes are also pink on top with an ombre to purple, while normal Luna's are solid purple. Something I didn't notice until I watched those unboxings was that Shimmer's little mini-dress under her skirt-wings has shiny decals on it, which normal Luna's does not.

Their jewelry seems to be the same, necklace, earrings, and butterfly headpiece. The wand/comb is partially pink for Shimmer. Their wings appear identical.

Skylar

Skylar is exclusive to Amazon. I had not been able to find pictures of her box anywhere, it's not included in her stock photos like all the others, but finally I found an unboxing of all three Supremes, including Skylar. (AdventureFun! on YouTube). Makes sense I couldn't find any photos, because apparently she comes in a plain brown cardboard box with this inside, laid on top of the magic mirror. How magical, but I guess they can get away with it as she's online only.

But at least we finally have her art to match the others! They are all in the same pose on the front. And it shows that she's the only one with a second outfit.

Skylar has rainbow eyeshadow rather than the butterfly eyeshadow that both Luna and Aria have. It seems a bit backwards, as Aria is THE Rainbow Pixie Supreme, but perhaps this is just something to make Skylar more exclusive. Her hair is shorter than the other Supremes, and is just one shade of purple rather than a blend.

Even though the art on the "box" makes it look like her second look is a separate shirt and skirt, it's all one piece. This second dress and her second pair of shoes come separately in her box in paper packets.

Aria

Aria was the last Supreme released, just a bit after the others. She's exclusive to Walmart.

Aria's dress is like a midpoint between Luna's and Skylar's. It has the second layer on top, transparent mesh like shimmer Luna's, with a broader main skirt that closes in the front, unlike Luna's wing-like dress. Aria's skirt flares more than Skylar's, but not as much as Luna's. Her makeup is lighter and pinker, and so is her jewelry.

Conclusions

All of the Pixie Supremes have the same earrings, necklaces, shoes, butterfly headpieces, and wings. I believe they all use the same face mold, but I can't be completely sure because I'm bad at identifying those. They're all on one body mold with nine points of articulation. They come with a saddle stand, a wand/brush accessory, and the magic mirror case/fortune teller toy. Their faces and screenings are all very similar, and their dresses are of similar styles but vary widely in color. They retail for $59.99.
