One Week Before
You stand in the kitchen of the lake house, absently scrolling through your phone while Jim and Ellen sit at the table, chatting over their morning coffee. Quinn is perched on a stool at the kitchen island, Jack and Luke beside him, all three listening in as you think out loud.
“I think I’m gonna get my nails done,” you say, mostly to yourself, glancing up from your screen. “I found this cute place nearby on Instagram. Might go check it out.”
Quinn freezes. Luke and Jack do the same, exchanging quick glances before all three of them force identical, strained smiles.
“Here?” Quinn asks, a little too casually.
You nod and turn your phone to show Ellen the pictures. “Yeah, thought it’d be nice to get a little pampered. Ellen, want to come with?”
For a split second, her eyes flick to Jim before she shakes her head with a warm—if slightly nervous—smile. “Oh, no, sweetheart. I think I’ll stay back, got a few things to tidy up around the house.”
You frown slightly, glancing between them. “I mean, I don’t have to go either. I could just hang—”
“NO!”
The entire Hughes family responds in unison, voices overlapping in a loud, comically panicked outburst. Even Jim, who’s been silent all morning, leans forward, wide-eyed like you just suggested setting the house on fire.
Quinn is the first to recover. He clears his throat and plasters on a quick, reassuring smile. “No, honey, you should definitely go. Treat yourself.” He waves a hand toward the door, trying—and failing—to sound nonchalant. “Have a nice day out.”
Your eyes narrow. “Okay
?” You drag the word out, suspicious, but slide your phone into your bag anyway. Grabbing your keys, you head for the door, throwing one last curious glance over your shoulder before stepping out.
As soon as the door clicks shut, Luke lets out a long breath. “Close call.”
Jim shakes his head, grinning. “She almost caught on already. We need to be more careful, boys.”
Downtown is quiet, the main street lined with flower boxes and little local shops. Lakeside Nails sits nestled between a café and an old bookstore, its windows decorated with delicate white lettering.
A nail tech waves you over with a friendly smile. “Hi! You must be my one o’clock.”
“That’s me.” You settle into the chair as she sets up.
“I’m Maya. What are we doing today?”
You pull up a photo. “Something like this? Just a clean, neutral look.”
Maya nods approvingly. “Pretty! So, just a little solo pampering trip?”
“Sort of. I’m staying at the lake house with my boyfriend and his family. Thought I’d take a little break and explore.”
Maya hums, focusing on your nails. “How’d you two meet?”
You smile, thinking back. “Through mutual friends. He was quiet at first, but then he made me laugh when I wasn’t expecting it. I don’t know
I just felt comfortable with him.”
“Those are the best ones,” she says with a grin. “Sounds like a good guy.”
“Yeah,” you say softly, warmth blooming in your chest. “He really is.”
When you walk back into the lake house, Quinn is stretched out on the couch, scrolling through his phone. He glances up as you come in, a lazy smile spreading across his face.
“Hey,” he says, sitting up. “Let’s see the nails.”
You plop down beside him, holding out your hand. He takes it, running his thumb lightly over your fingers. “Looks good,” he says, approving.
“Glad you think so.” You lean into him as his arm wraps around you, the warmth of his touch settling you into an easy quiet.
The rest of the evening is simple—pasta and salad for dinner, laughter when Quinn drops a handful of cherry tomatoes and watches them roll across the counter. Later, you curl up under a blanket with an old movie on, his fingers absentmindedly running through your hair. The house is peaceful, filled with the soft flicker of the TV and the steady rhythm of his breathing.
You don’t notice the way he looks at you. The way his gaze lingers, like he’s memorizing everything. Like he’s counting down.
Five Days Before
You wake slowly, the warmth of morning light filtering through the curtains. Quinn’s arm is draped over your waist, his hand resting lightly on your hip, his breathing steady and close. He stirs, his nose brushing against the back of your neck as he pulls you closer.
“Morning,” he mumbles, voice thick with sleep.
You smile, rolling over to face him. His eyes are still half-closed, messy hair falling over his forehead. You trace your fingers along his cheek, feeling the scratch of stubble. He leans into your touch, eyes fluttering shut for a moment.
“Good morning,” you whisper.
He catches your hand, lacing his fingers through yours before bringing it to his lips, pressing a kiss to your knuckles.
You don’t realize how he looks at you—like you might disappear if he blinks.
“Honey, we’re on breakfast duty,” you remind him.
Quinn groans, shoving his face into your collarbone, stubble tickling your skin. He mumbles something, voice muffled.
You laugh. “No, we can’t let your brothers do it. Unless you want the house to burn down.”
Another grunt, but this time, he shifts, reluctantly getting up. You follow, falling into your usual morning routine.
As you pull on a sweater, he watches from the bathroom mirror, hoping you don’t dig too far into his sock drawer.
Hoping you don’t find the velvet box.
You don’t thank the higher power, but it only puts more pressure on Quinn to pop the damn question.
Four Days Before
The lake house hums with its usual morning energy—Jack and Luke bickering over who gets the last pancake, Ellen moving around the kitchen with effortless ease, and Jim sipping his coffee while reading the newspaper like he’s immune to the chaos around him.
Quinn, however, is focused on one thing.
He leans against the counter, arms crossed, watching as you sit at the kitchen table, scrolling absently through your phone. Every few seconds, you look up to add something to the conversation, laughing as Luke launches a grape at Jack’s head. Quinn should be listening, should be jumping in with a comment of his own, but instead, his mind is caught on a single thought: How do I get her to buy the dress?
The dress—the one he wants to see you in when he finally asks the biggest question of his life. He saw it a few days ago when you were flipping through your phone, showing Ellen some boutique you wanted to check out. You hadn’t bought anything yet, just admired a few pieces before getting distracted by something else.
Now, with only four days to go, he needs to make sure you pick the one.
Quinn exhales through his nose and glances toward his brothers. Perfect.
Jack notices first, eyebrows furrowing as he watches Quinn silently glare at him. What? he mouths.
Quinn jerks his head toward the living room, signaling them to follow. Jack and Luke exchange a glance but don’t argue, trudging after him as he disappears down the hallway.
Once they’re out of earshot, Quinn turns to them, hands on his hips like he’s about to give them the most important assignment of their lives.
“Alright, I need you two to do something for me.”
Jack immediately groans. “Oh my god, what now?”
“It’s important,” Quinn says, leveling them with a look.
Luke raises an eyebrow. “Like, life-or-death important? Or are we talking Quinn-important, which means it’s about the love of your life?”
Jack snorts. “Yeah, do we need to prepare a eulogy?”
Quinn ignores them. “I need you guys to get her to buy a dress.”
Both of them stare at him.
“A dress,” Jack repeats flatly. “You dragged us away from breakfast for that?”
“Not just any dress,” Quinn says, rubbing the back of his neck. He feels stupid saying it out loud, but if there’s anyone who can pull this off without making it suspicious, it’s these two. “She was looking at this one the other day. It’s perfect for when I—” He stops himself before finishing the sentence, clearing his throat.
Luke catches on first. His eyes widen slightly before he grins. “Ohhh. You mean the dress.”
Jack still looks lost. “What—Oh. Ohhh.”
Quinn nods.
“Okay, so you want us to, what? Trick her into buying it?” Jack asks, crossing his arms.
“Not trick her,” Quinn corrects. “Just
steer her in the right direction.”
Luke grins. “You want us to gaslight her into thinking she needs it.”
“I didn’t say that.”
“You basically did,” Jack says.
Quinn sighs. “Can you two just do it?”
Luke claps a hand on his shoulder. “Don’t worry, Q, we got this. She’ll be buying that dress by the end of the day.”
Jack cracks his knuckles. “Time to be annoying.”
“Just don’t make it obvious,” Quinn warns.
Luke grins. “No promises.”
Later That Day – The Shopping Trip
You hadn’t really planned on buying anything today.
The town’s little boutique district is charming, with its cobblestone paths and flower boxes hanging from the windows, but you were mostly browsing—taking in the sights, enjoying the crisp summer air, and, apparently, getting bombarded with very strong opinions from Jack and Luke.
“I’m just saying,” Jack starts, walking beside you with his hands in his pockets, “you’ve been talking about wanting a nice dress for a while.”
“Have I?” you ask, raising an eyebrow.
Luke, walking on your other side, nods solemnly. “Oh yeah. All the time. Constantly.”
You snort. “I’m pretty sure I haven’t.”
Jack ignores you. “And look at this!” He gestures dramatically toward one of the boutique windows. “A whole store dedicated to dresses! What are the odds?”
“Crazy,” Luke deadpans.
You give them a suspicious look. “Are you guys okay?”
“We’re great,” Jack says. “But you’d be even better if you had a new dress.”
Luke nods. “The best version of yourself, really.”
You shake your head with a laugh. “What is wrong with you two?”
“Nothing,” Jack says quickly. “We just care about you. And your wardrobe.”
“Especially that one dress you liked the other day,” Luke adds casually. “That was a good one.”
You narrow your eyes. “How do you even know about that?”
Jack elbows Luke.
He gives you a pained smile, “intuition?”
Luke sighs dramatically, turning toward you. “Look,, all I’m saying is that you should try it on. No pressure. No commitment. Just try it on and see how you feel.”
“Yeah,” Jack agrees. “Worst case? You hate it, and we all move on with our lives. Best case? You look amazing, and you thank us forever.”
You roll your eyes but, against your better judgment, let them lead you inside. The boutique is small but elegant, with soft lighting and carefully arranged racks of clothing. A sales associate greets you warmly, and before you know it, Luke and Jack are pushing you toward the exact dress they’ve clearly been scheming about.
You sigh, running your fingers over the fabric. It is beautiful.
“Just try it,” Luke urges. “For science.”
“For science,” Jack echoes.
You huff a laugh. “Fine. But if I don’t like it, you both owe me coffee.”
“Deal,” they say in unison.
Ten minutes later, you step out of the dressing room, smoothing your hands over the fabric. The dress fits perfectly, hugging in all the right places, flowing just enough to feel effortless. You glance at your reflection in the boutique mirror, tilting your head slightly.
“Well?” Jack asks, leaning forward eagerly.
Luke grins. “Yup. That’s the one.”
You shake your head, but you can’t help the small smile that tugs at your lips. “You guys are the worst.”
“And yet, we just helped you find your new favorite dress,” Jack points out.
You sigh. “Fine. But you’re still buying me coffee.”
Luke claps his hands. “Worth it.”
Meanwhile, back at the lake house, Quinn gets a text.
Luke: Mission accomplished.
He exhales, a slow smile spreading across his face.
Three more days.
Three Days Before
The morning sun spills through the windows of the lake house, casting warm golden hues over the kitchen. You hum softly to yourself as you pour a cup of coffee, the scent of roasted beans filling the air. Ellen is at the stove flipping pancakes while Jim reads the newspaper at the table, occasionally sipping his coffee. Jack and Luke sit across from him, bickering over who gets the last piece of toast.
Quinn stands by the fridge, looking unusually tense as he scrolls through his phone. You don’t think much of it—he’s always been the quiet, deep-in-thought type—but there’s something about the way he keeps glancing at you that makes you pause.
"Morning," you say, leaning against the counter as you take a slow sip of coffee. "What's up?"
Quinn's head snaps up like he’s been caught doing something he shouldn’t. His fingers tighten around his phone, and for a second, he looks almost guilty.
"Uh—nothing. Just checking something." His voice is too quick, too casual, and you narrow your eyes.
Before you can push him further, Ellen calls over her shoulder, "Sweetheart, could you grab the syrup?"
You nod and step toward the pantry, but just as you do, Quinn leans closer to Ellen and whispers something.
You freeze mid-step.
It’s barely audible, just the faintest murmur of his voice, but you catch it. Ellen’s eyes widen for a fraction of a second before she quickly schools her expression into something neutral.
Jim, who’s been mostly uninvolved in the morning chaos, suddenly folds his newspaper with a snap and clears his throat. Jack and Luke immediately stop arguing and sit up straighter, the air shifting ever so slightly.
You narrow your eyes. "Okay, what was that?"
Quinn immediately shakes his head. "What was what?"
"The whispering. The weird glances. Why do you all look like you just got caught committing a crime?"
Jack lets out a bark of nervous laughter. "Pfft, what? No crime here."
Luke elbows him, and he winces. "We were just—uh, talking about, um—"
"The weather," Jim supplies, nodding sagely.
"The weather?" you repeat flatly.
"Yup," Quinn says, grabbing a banana from the fruit bowl and peeling it aggressively like that’ll somehow sell the lie.
You cross your arms, skeptical. "And what, exactly, about the weather required a top-secret family meeting?"
Ellen waves a hand dismissively. "Oh, just—just how lovely it's supposed to be this weekend! Perfect for, um, outdoor activities."
Jack nods. "Yeah, so perfect. Like, suspiciously perfect."
Luke elbows him again.
You squint at them, taking a slow sip of your coffee, watching as they all sit a little too still, looking a little too casual.
Something is definitely going on.
But before you can press further, Quinn suddenly steps forward, wraps an arm around your waist, and presses a kiss to your temple.
"Hey, didn’t you want to go into town today?" His voice is soft, his thumb rubbing soothing circles against your hip.
You blink up at him. "I mean, yeah, but—"
"Perfect," he says quickly. "You should go. Take your time. Enjoy yourself."
Jack and Luke nod in unison. "Yes. Enjoy. Take hours if you need."
Your eyes dart between them. They are terrible liars. But you sigh, deciding to let it go—for now.
"Fine," you say slowly, grabbing your bag. "But if I find out you guys are hiding something from me—"
"You won’t!" they all chorus at once.
You stare for another long beat before shaking your head and heading for the door.
As soon as it closes behind you, Quinn lets out a breath, running a hand through his hair.
Luke whistles. "That was way too close."
Jim chuckles. "You boys need to step up your game. She's sharp."
Quinn groans, rubbing his face. "I know. And we still have two more days of this."
Jack claps a hand on his shoulder. "Good luck, bud. You're gonna need it.
Two Days Before
The lake stretches out before you, calm and glassy under the moonlight. It’s late—too late to still be outside, but the warmth of summer lingers in the air, and neither of you wants to go in just yet.
You sit beside Quinn on the dock, your legs dangling over the edge, bare feet skimming the cool water. The night is quiet, save for the occasional chirp of crickets and the distant rustling of trees.
Quinn hasn’t said much in the last few minutes.
He sits close—so close that your shoulders press together, his warmth seeping into you. His hand is resting between you, his fingers twitching like he wants to reach for you but is too lost in thought to do it.
You nudge him gently. "Penny for your thoughts?"
He exhales, a soft, slow sound. "Just thinking."
You tilt your head, watching him. His profile is illuminated by the glow of the moon, sharp angles softened by the night. His jaw flexes, and his fingers tighten slightly against the dock.
"About what?"
He hesitates, then turns to you. "The future."
Your chest tightens, a warmth blooming there. "Yeah?"
"Yeah." His voice is quiet, thoughtful. "I was just thinking about... where we'll be, years from now." He swallows, his throat bobbing. "What it'll look like."
You smile, leaning into him. "And? What does it look like?"
He glances down at his hands. "Us," he says simply. "Still together. Maybe a house. Maybe a dog." His lips twitch. "You always talk about wanting a golden retriever."
Your heart stutters.
"You actually listen when I say that?"
His brow furrows. "Of course I do."
There’s something so earnest about the way he says it—so completely sure.
You take his hand in yours, threading your fingers together. "I like that version of the future," you say softly.
Quinn looks at you then, his eyes dark and unreadable, something heavy sitting behind them. For a second, you think he’s about to say something—something big.
But instead, he squeezes your hand.
"Me too."
He presses a lingering kiss to your knuckles, then rests his forehead against yours.
You close your eyes, breathing him in, feeling the steady thump-thump-thump of his heart.
Neither of you says anything else.
But Quinn’s already made up his mind.
Tomorrow, he finds the perfect spot.
And in two days, he asks you to be his forever.
One Day Before
The lake stretches endlessly before you, a shimmering expanse of deep blue beneath the warmth of the afternoon sun. A gentle breeze tugs at your hair, and the rhythmic rocking of the boat lulls you into a peaceful state. The water is calm, only disturbed by the occasional ripple from a passing jet ski or the soft lapping against the side of the boat.
You inhale deeply, letting the fresh air fill your lungs as you lean back against the cushioned seat. The warmth of the sun kisses your skin, and for the first time in a long while, you feel like time has slowed down.
Jim sits at the helm, hands steady on the wheel as he navigates through the open water. His expression is relaxed, a rare sight considering the chaos that usually follows whenever all three of his boys are together.
Ellen sits beside you, sunglasses perched on her nose, a soft smile on her lips as she watches the water shimmer.
“This is nice, isn’t it?” she muses, her voice light with contentment.
You nod, shifting slightly to soak in more of the sun. “Yeah, it really is.”
It’s not often that you get moments like this—just the three of you. Usually, Jack and Luke are wreaking havoc, Quinn is rolling his eyes fondly at their antics, and everything is a blur of chirps and laughter. But today is quiet. Peaceful.
You glance around the boat, taking in the emptiness where Quinn should be.
Your chest tightens slightly.
This morning, when you asked him if he was coming, he had been vague—mumbling something about needing to run an errand and promising he’d see you later. You hadn’t pushed, but now, with the afternoon stretching on without him, you can’t shake the feeling that something is off.
“You okay, sweetheart?” Ellen asks gently, tilting her head toward you.
You blink, realizing you had been staring at the empty seat beside you. Forcing a smile, you nod. “Yeah, just thinking.”
Ellen hums knowingly. “Quinn will be back soon, don’t worry. He’s probably just making sure whatever he’s doing is absolutely perfect.”
Jim chuckles from the driver’s seat. “Sounds about right.”
You frown slightly, narrowing your eyes. “Do you guys know something I don’t?”
Ellen and Jim exchange a quick glance, but Ellen’s smile doesn’t waver.
“Oh, honey,” she says, reaching over to pat your hand. “We always know something you don’t.”
You roll your eyes, laughing despite yourself.
The rest of the afternoon passes in a blur of warmth and comfort. You soak up every moment—the way the sun reflects off the water like scattered diamonds, the sound of Jim’s easy laughter, the way Ellen insists on reapplying sunscreen to your shoulders even though you swear you’re fine.
And for a little while, you let yourself forget the strange feeling in your chest.
Meanwhile, deep in the woods, Quinn is on a mission.
Your absence is a weight he feels in his chest, but he knows this is worth it.
His boots crunch against the forest floor as he makes his way through the secluded clearing he stumbled upon earlier. The air smells like pine and fresh earth, the quiet only disturbed by the rustling of leaves in the wind.
It’s perfect. Tucked away from the main trails, surrounded by towering trees, with a small opening where the lake peeks through.
This is it.
Carefully, he unrolls the string of photos he printed last week, each one capturing a frozen moment in time—the two of you at your first hockey game together, laughing with noses pressed close; a blurry snapshot of you mid-laugh, taken when you weren’t looking; a quiet moment in bed, tangled in the sheets with sunlight painting your skin.
Every single one tells your story.
His hands shake slightly as he fastens them to the branches, adjusting them until they drape just right.
“Dude, this is insanely romantic,” Jack mutters behind him.
Quinn steps back, hands on his hips as he surveys the clearing. The photos sway gently in the breeze, catching the fading sunlight. Everything is almost perfect.
Except for Jack, who is standing in the middle of the setup like he’d rather be anywhere else.
“This is so weird,” Jack complains, shifting uncomfortably. “I don’t know why I have to be her.”
Quinn sighs, rubbing his temples. “Because I need to make sure everything looks right, and you’re the closest to her height.”
“That’s actually so offensive,” Jack deadpans. “I don’t even know how, but it is.”
Luke snorts from behind the camera. “Just shut up and stand there, man. You’re ruining the vision.”
Jack groans dramatically but doesn’t move. “You owe me for this, dude. Big time.”
Quinn ignores him, stepping closer to adjust the positioning. He takes a deep breath, trying to picture you standing there instead of his little brother, who is doing a horrible job of being still.
“This is where I’ll kneel,” Quinn murmurs, mostly to himself. He drops down, testing the angle, the feel of the moment. His heart races, imagining the way you’ll look—eyes wide, lips parted in surprise, the way your breath will hitch right before you say yes.
Jack stares down at him, unimpressed. “I feel like I should be flattered, but mostly I feel like an idiot.”
Quinn huffs, looking up at him. “Can you at least pretend to be in love with me?”
Jack stares blankly for a second before bursting out laughing. “Dude. Dude. I cannot take this seriously.” He turns to Luke, who’s adjusting the camera settings. “Are you getting this? The absolute desperation in his eyes?”
Luke barely glances up. “You’re making it worse.”
“I’m making this worse?” Jack gestures at the setup. “Quinn is professing his undying love to me right now, and I’M the problem?”
Quinn groans, running a hand over his face. “Just shut up and look moved or something.”
Jack schools his expression into something vaguely serious and stares dramatically into the distance. “I can’t believe this is happening,” he says, voice overly soft. “We’ve been through so much together.”
Luke nearly drops the camera laughing. “Oh my god,” he wheezes.
Quinn pinches the bridge of his nose. “I hate both of you.”
Jack smirks, but he does settle down a little, standing a bit more still as Quinn makes the final adjustments.
After a few minutes of adjusting the lighting and the placement of the photos, Luke finally lifts the camera. “Alright, let’s get a test shot.”
Jack sighs dramatically but stays put. Quinn watches as Luke moves around, snapping photos from different angles. He frowns slightly, tilting the camera to check the preview.
“It looks good,” Luke says slowly, adjusting the focus. “But I think we need—Jack, stop standing like that.”
Jack scoffs. “Like what?”
“Like a dude who is about to ask another dude to prom,” Luke deadpans. “You look so uncomfortable.”
Jack throws his arms out. “Because I am uncomfortable! I am literally standing in the middle of a fake proposal, playing the role of my brother’s girlfriend.”
Quinn shakes his head. “Fine. Just—stand normal.”
Jack exhales sharply but follows instructions, his posture finally settling into something less stiff.
Luke snaps a few more photos before nodding. “Okay, that’s it. That’s the shot.”
Quinn steps back, taking in the clearing one last time. The photos, the lighting, the atmosphere—it’s all exactly how he pictured it. His heart pounds as he exhales, the reality of it hitting him all at once.
Tomorrow.
Tomorrow, you will be standing here.
Tomorrow, you will be the one in front of him when he kneels.
And tomorrow, you will say yes.
Jack claps him on the back, snapping him out of his thoughts. “Alright, Romeo. Can we go now? I have literally never felt more single in my life.”
Quinn rolls his eyes, but there’s a fondness behind it. “Yeah, we’re done.”
Luke stretches, shoving the camera back into his bag. “You better make this the best proposal of all time, bro. Because if we went through all of this for nothing—”
Quinn grins, confidence settling in his chest. “She’s gonna love it.”
Jack sighs dramatically. “You owe us.”
Quinn just laughs, already imagining how perfect tomorrow will be.
That night, you’re curled up in bed when Quinn finally slips into the room. The warmth of his body presses against yours as he slides beneath the covers, pulling you into his arms.
“You have fun today?” he murmurs, pressing a kiss to your shoulder.
“Mmm,” you hum, half-asleep. “Missed you.”
His chest tightens.
He buries his face in your hair, arms tightening around you. “Missed you too.”
You sigh softly, relaxing into him.
Quinn stays awake long after you drift off, heart thudding with anticipation.
One more night.
Tomorrow, everything changes.
Proposal Day
The morning sun filters through the kitchen windows, casting a golden glow over the lake house. The scent of fresh coffee lingers in the air as you lean against the counter, watching the Hughes family settle into their usual breakfast chaos.
Jack is the first to steal the last piece of toast off Luke’s plate, and Luke retaliates by flicking a grape at his forehead. Quinn sighs, stirring his coffee like he’s debating whether it’s worth intervening. Ellen is at the stove, flipping pancakes with practiced ease, while Jim nurses his coffee at the table, reading something on his phone.
Ellen turns toward you with a smile. “I was thinking,” she starts, “since everyone’s here, we should do a nice family dinner tonight.”
Luke perks up. “Ooh, like a fancy dinner? Do I have to wear a button-up?”
“Yes,” Ellen says firmly.
Jack groans dramatically. “Can I at least wear my nice hoodie?”
Jim barely looks up. “No.”
You laugh, shaking your head as you sip your coffee. “A dinner sounds nice.”
Ellen nods. “Good, because I already bought all the stuff.”
Quinn finally speaks, glancing at you. “You should wear that dress you got.”
You arch an eyebrow. “The one you definitely weren’t scheming to get me to buy?”
Jack and Luke both snicker, and Quinn glares at them before turning back to you, feigning innocence. “What? I just think you’d look really nice in it.”
Luke leans in conspiratorially. “You should do it. Mostly because if you don’t, Quinn will spend the entire dinner sulking and staring at you like a sad puppy.”
You roll your eyes, but a smile tugs at your lips. “Well, we wouldn’t want that, would we?”
Jack smirks. “Nope. That’s how we end up with emo Quinn, and nobody wants that.”
Quinn groans. “I hate all of you.”
Ellen hides a smile as she flips another pancake. “You love them,” she corrects.
Quinn sighs, shooting you a hopeful glance. “So, the dress?”
You shake your head, amused. “Fine. But if I do, Luke and Jack owe me dessert.”
Luke claps a hand over his heart. “Done.”
Jack nods. “Easiest deal of my life.”
Quinn smiles to himself, satisfied. One step closer.
Dinner starts out promising enough. The table is set, the food looks amazing, and the sunset paints the lake in warm hues. It should be perfect.
And then
 things start to go sideways.
First, Luke—being Luke—tries to help bring the dishes to the table and nearly drops the salad bowl. In his panic to save it, he elbows Jack, who’s carrying a basket of rolls. The bread goes flying, one roll landing directly in Jim’s drink.
“Nice,” Jim mutters, plucking it out with a sigh.
Ellen shakes her head, clearly unimpressed but used to this kind of chaos. “Can we go one meal without something ending up on the floor?”
Jack, unfazed, shrugs. “Technically, it landed in Dad’s glass.”
You try to hold back a laugh as Quinn pulls out a chair for you, but the moment you sit, you realize something is
off. The seat wobbles, just enough to be noticeable, and before you can react, one of the legs gives way entirely.
“Shit—”
You barely manage to catch yourself before fully hitting the ground. Quinn moves fast, steadying you before you can completely fall, but the damage is done. Luke is doubled over laughing, and Jack is wheezing so hard he can’t breathe.
“I—” Jack tries, but he’s laughing too hard to finish. “I swear—we didn’t—touch—that chair—”
Quinn glares at them before looking at you. “You okay?”
“Yeah,” you say, face burning as you straighten up. “Just my pride taking a hit.”
Ellen sighs. “That chair was wobbly this morning. I told you boys to fix it.”
Jack wipes a tear from his eye. “Well, now we know it was definitely broken.”
Dinner resumes, and for a few blessed minutes, everything is normal. The conversation flows, the food is delicious, and you almost forget about the earlier chaos.
Until Luke, in all his wisdom, decides he needs more steak sauce. He reaches across the table, miscalculating just how close his elbow is to your glass of wine.
The second the glass tips, it’s over.
Red wine splashes everywhere—your dress, the table, Quinn’s sleeve.
“Oh my God,” you exclaim, pushing back from the table as the cold liquid soaks into the fabric.
Luke freezes. “Oh—oh, shit. Oh, no—”
Ellen is already up, grabbing napkins. “Luke.” Her voice is the kind of exasperated that only comes from years of dealing with sons who can’t sit still. “Seriously?”
“I didn’t mean to!” Luke looks at you with pure panic. “I—I can fix this—”
Jack leans back, shaking his head. “Man, you just ruined her dress.”
“I know!” Luke groans, looking like he genuinely feels terrible. “I’ll—uh—I’ll pay for the dry cleaning.”
Quinn, who’s been silent through all of this, takes one look at you and then turns to Luke with the calmest voice imaginable.
“Get up.”
Luke blinks. “What?”
“Get. Up.”
There’s a long pause before Luke, sensing the very real possibility of Quinn throwing him into the lake, slowly pushes his chair back and stands.
Quinn doesn’t hesitate—he grabs Luke’s napkin and dabs at your dress, his brows furrowed in frustration. “I told you not to sit next to her.”
Luke throws his hands up. “How is this my fault?!”
Ellen sighs again. “Alright, alright, it’s just a little wine.” She turns to you. “Honey, let’s go see if we can salvage your dress.”
You follow her inside, but despite her best efforts, the stain refuses to come out.
You sigh, looking at Ellen through the mirror. “Ellen, I think it’s unsalvageable.”
She looks up at you, guilt evident on her face. “I’m so sorry, honey.”
You shake your head with a small smile. “It’s fine, really.”
When you return downstairs, Luke looks like a kicked puppy, eyes glued to the floor. Quinn scans your dress, his jaw tightening.
“Goddammit, Luke,” Quinn mutters.
You step beside him, nudging Luke lightly with your foot. “It’s fine, really,” you say softly.
Quinn exhales, rubbing his jaw before looking at you. “Come on. Let’s go for a walk.”
You blink at him. “Right now?”
“Yeah,” he says, his voice quieter now, more certain. “Right now.”
You hesitate, then nod. “Okay.”
The night air is crisp, carrying the scent of pine and the lingering warmth of the lake. The sound of crickets hums in the background as you and Quinn walk in comfortable silence, his fingers laced through yours. The chaos of dinner fades into the background, replaced by the rhythmic crunch of gravel beneath your feet.
“You okay?” you ask softly, glancing up at him.
Quinn exhales through his nose, a small smile tugging at his lips. “Yeah. Just
today didn’t go exactly how I planned.”
You squeeze his hand. “You had a plan?”
His smile grows slightly. “Believe it or not, yeah. Kind of.”
You smirk. “Well, that was your first mistake.”
He huffs a quiet laugh. “Tell me about it.”
You keep walking, but the farther you go, the more familiar the path becomes. It’s only when the trees thin, revealing a quiet clearing, that you realize where he’s leading you. Your steps slow as you take it in.
Strung between the branches, illuminated by the soft glow of the moon and the fairy lights Quinn must have set up earlier, are dozens of photos—memories captured and preserved in time.
Your breath catches as you step forward, reaching out to gently touch one of them. It’s a picture from your first hockey game together, noses nearly pressed together as you grinned at the camera. Another of you mid-laugh, eyes crinkled with joy. One from a lazy morning in bed, sunlight spilling across your tangled limbs.
Every single one tells your story.
You turn back to Quinn, your chest tight with emotion. “You did all this?”
He nods, rubbing the back of his neck. “Yeah. I—I wanted you to see what I see. Every time I look at you, it’s just
it’s all of this. Every moment, every memory, everything that makes us, us.”
Your eyes burn with unshed tears.
“I wanted everything to be perfect,” he continues, voice quiet but steady. “I had this whole idea in my head—this big, perfect moment. The dinner, the dress, the way tonight was supposed to go.” He shakes his head, laughing under his breath. “And then Luke knocked wine all over you, and Jack wouldn’t stop chirping, and everything kind of fell apart.”
You smile, tilting your head. “Sounds about right.”
Quinn looks at you, his blue eyes searching yours. “Yeah. But then I realized
this is perfect.” He lets out a small, breathy laugh, almost like he’s realizing it in real time. “The chaos, the interruptions, the fact that nothing ever goes exactly how we plan it. That’s us. That’s our life.”
Your breath catches slightly.
He takes a deep breath, then lets go of one of your hands, reaching into his pocket. And suddenly, he’s kneeling before you, a small velvet box in his palm, slightly illuminated by the moonlight.
“I don’t need the perfect moment,” he says, looking up at you. “I just need you.”
Your heart pounds, your vision blurring as you try to take in everything at once—the way he’s looking at you, the way his fingers tremble just slightly around the box, the way the entire world feels like it’s tilting on its axis.
“Marry me?” he asks, voice soft but sure.
You let out a shaky breath, a laugh breaking through the tears already forming in your eyes. “Quinn, of course I’ll marry you.”
A breath of relief escapes him before he grins—grins in that rare, open way he only does when he’s truly happy. He stands quickly, slipping the ring onto your finger before wrapping his arms around you, holding you close.
You bury your face in his shoulder, laughing through your tears. “God, I love you.”
His grip tightens around you, his voice warm against your ear. “Love you more.”
By the time you and Quinn make it back, hand in hand, the Hughes family is waiting—Jack and Luke perched on the couch, Jim leaning against the counter, and Ellen practically bouncing in place.
Jack spots the ring first. “Oh my god—”
Ellen claps her hands together, her eyes shining. “You said yes?”
You hold up your hand, and the room erupts.
Jack groans dramatically, flopping back onto the couch. “I can’t believe this. Quinn won at life.”
Jim claps Quinn on the shoulder with a proud nod, and Ellen pulls you into a tight hug, murmuring how happy she is for you both.
Luke hangs back, hands shoved in his pockets, his eyes darting toward you before dropping to the floor. His face is tight, like he’s been debating something in his head.
You don’t give him the chance to overthink it. Without a word, you step toward him and wrap your arms around his shoulders, pulling him into a hug.
Luke stiffens in surprise before slowly relaxing, exhaling a breath. “I—I really didn’t mean to ruin your dress,” he mumbles, voice small.
You smile against his shoulder. “I know, Luke. It’s just a dress.”
He hesitates before hugging you back, his grip a little tight, like he’s still worried about the whole thing. “I felt really bad.”
You pull back just enough to look at him. “Well, you can make it up to me by giving a really good speech at the wedding.”
His eyes widen. “Wait—I can do a speech?”
Quinn sighs, but there’s no real annoyance behind it. “I never said that.”
Luke smirks. “You didn’t have to.”
Jack groans. “Oh god, this is gonna be unbearable.”
Quinn shakes his head, pulling you back to his side. “I should’ve proposed in private,” he mutters under his breath.
You laugh, squeezing his hand. “Nah. This is perfect.”
And as the Hughes family falls into their usual rhythm of chirps and laughter, as Quinn’s hand tightens around yours, you know that nothing—no chaos, no spilled wine, no wobbly chairs—could have made this moment any better.

a/n: it took me 3 weeks to write this as i had a lot of uni work. Please please pardon me this time if it’s not well written.
Tumblr media
Maybe it was the blush that made his cheeks look impossibly soft and warm, or the tiny stickers under his eyes that added a playful touch to his sharp features. Maybe it was the way his dark hair fell perfectly in front of his eyes, or how his lips—full, red, and devastatingly distracting—seemed to curve into the kind of smirk that could undo you in seconds. Whatever it was, something about Haechan today had you undone.
You told yourself it was just your work. You’d perfected the art of making him look his best, every contour and color carefully applied, every detail deliberate. But today was different. Today, his presence alone made it impossible to stay steady, his every glance and smirk making your hands falter and your professional demeanor unravel. It was the way his eyes locked onto yours like he could see right through the flimsy wall you were trying to build, the way his fingers brushed too casually against your waist when the room was packed, his warmth seeping through the thin barrier of your shirt. It was the way he tilted his head just enough for you to lean in closer, as though daring you to close the space between you.
And you weren’t exactly innocent either. Your fingers lingered too long on his jaw as you blended the last touch of highlighter. Your breath ghosted over his skin when you worked on his eyeliner, your chest brushing against his shoulder in ways you knew weren’t entirely necessary. Then there was the lip tint—your thumb dragging over his bottom lip a fraction slower than you should’ve, your eyes dropping to his mouth, betraying just how much control you were losing.
“Careful,” he murmured when you pulled back, his voice low enough that no one else could hear over the bustle of the staff. His smirk deepened, a flicker of mischief lighting up his gaze. “You keep touching me like that, and I might think you’re trying to make me lose my job.”
Heat flared across your cheeks, but you refused to look at him as you turned away, busying yourself with cleaning up your station. You couldn’t let him get to you, not when the room was still crowded with staff and members. But when you bent down to grab a makeup sponge that had rolled off the counter, his voice came again, soft and teasing.
“Was that for me, or do you just like testing my patience?”
Your breath hitched, the weight of his words—and the low rasp in his tone—sending a rush of adrenaline through your veins, as he looked right through your little game. Without thinking, you straightened and turned, locking eyes with him as you reached out, brushing your thumb over the corner of his mouth. “You smudged your lipstick,” you said, your voice quieter than you intended.
It was a lie. You both knew it.
His gaze lingered on your face for a beat longer than was appropriate, and for the first time, you saw something shift behind his playful exterior. Something darker. Hungrier. Something that made you feel you won in this game.
Moments later when everyone was leaving for the final mic test, he straightened in his chair, stretching his arms with a casualness that didn’t fool you for a second. “Think I need a touch-up,” he said suddenly, loud enough for the rest of the room to hear as the members emptied out the room. “I’ll be there in five minutes.”
Before you could process what was happening, he was already locking the door behind you, his smirk gone, replaced by something far more dangerous.
If you thought you won the game, you were wrong because in no time Haechan had you bent over the same vanity. Your shorts and underwear were pooled around your ankles and fingers gripping the edges of the wooden table tightly as he pounded into you from behind.
He had one of his hands wrapped around your throat putting just enough pressure on your veins which made you lightheaded while he delivered hard thrusts from behind pushing you more into the table. “Had fun teasing me princess?” He whispered, his breath hot against your ear as he bit down on the sensitive skin of your neck before sucking harshly.
You let out a low whimper, eyes rolling back to your head as he hit that spot again and again. If the pleasure of him moving inside in that brutal way was not enough to send you into an overdrive, the moment his free hand slid down to press against your clit did break you apart. “Fucking princess can’t go a minute without my dick shoved in her little pussy?”
He moved his hand from your throat to grab your cheeks harshly as he lifted your head to make you look in the mirror in front you, your nose almost brushing against it. “Look at yourself
” he groaned, feeling you tighten around him “...why do i always have to remind you not to behave like a slut at work?”
He thrusted deep with each word making your eyes roll back. “Look at yourself” he whispered, tilting your head up. Your eyes roamed over the smudged mascara and disheveled hair as you met Haechan’s dark ones in the mirror. He leaned down to whisper again “What do brats like you deserve?”
A shiver ran down your spine at his words, you knew what he meant and when he stopped his movements you almost cried out “Please
don’t stop.” He chuckled, running his thumb over your lower lip “Don’t worry Princess. I’ll take my time with you after this concert.”
If you weren’t crying before you did now. He moved relentlessly, holding your hips with both hands in a bruising grip as you fell flat on top of the vanity. The wooden frame shaking beneath you due to the intensity as he moved deeper and deeper.
Your orgasm left you trembling even more as he didn’t stop thrusting in you. “Haechan please” you cried and he yanked you up by a tight grip in your hair “Take it like the slut you are.” He groaned and your whimpers turned into the cries of his name pushing him closer to the edge.
And with one final hard push he came inside you, moaning as he pulled out before spanking your cheeks. “Stay like this. With my cum inside you, don’t you dare clean up.” He said pulling up your panties and shorts and zipping up his own pants.
“You know princess this isn’t over, is it?” you managed to mumble a small no as he ran his fingers through your hair. “So be ready when we get back home
I’m going to ruin you so well tonight.”

I didn’t know how to make it look good. I don’t use tumblr that much

Summary-

"Y/N
I need to finish this—can't you wait
?" He mumbles, a soft sigh escaping his lips, attempting to maintain his composure despite him gripping the seat to keep himself in that chair. So many weeks with him keeping all of his thoughts to himself, and even now he tries to hide it, how much he needs release from it all. He had to admit he was flustered, so desperately needy for your touch. But he had to finish this. It was important. Nothing could distract him now, not even you.
When you hear this, your eyes widen in shock. You guess he wasn't going to give in as easily as you thought. “No, that can wait, I cannot– I need you now.”

I need you closer
It had been so long since you'd last seen him like that, a mess, whimpering under you with tears in his eyes as he begged—and oh, you missed it. He is always busy now, working on some new album for his group. It made you sad to see him worn out like that, seeing that shine in his pretty eyes slowly get numbed away over time as the pressure overwhelmed him. It was like its own special torture that he couldn’t help but dive deeper into. It killed you to see him like that, and you were growing needy for him, to help relieve some of the pressure that’s been building up inside him.
As the days passed, you felt more hopeless of doing anything with him since he wouldn't get off his damned computer. Days turned to weeks, and those weeks being pent up with so many feelings turned you crazy, you simply couldn't take it anymore. He’s your husband. He should be taking care of you, loving you, letting you rule his life. So, if he wasn't going to do anything, then you might as well try.
You spent the whole day cleaning and making his favorite food. That night, when he got home from practice, he immediately sat at the dinner table with his computer, opening a file to edit something for a bit longer before he notices the scent of his favorite dish.
“What did you make for dinner?” He asks as he finally looked at you for the first time today.
“Oh, nothing much, but there's dessert too. I don't mind whichever you have first.” You say as you placed a piece of cheesecake and a spoon in front of him.
“You made cheesecake? Are you trying to bribe me?” He teases as he uses the spoon to scoop up a small bite before lifting it to his mouth to eat.
“Did I say that out loud or what? Sheesh, it's kind of scary how fast you read me.”
“No, it just seems like something you’d do. And since that’s what's happening
What is it exactly that you want from me?” He questions, his eyebrow raising a tiny bit as he watched you curiously.
“Well, if you really want to know
I planned to have you under me tonight. I know that you’ve been so busy lately so I thought that I should help you out, let me do all of the work, I know how to push your buttons
” You toy, looking into his eyes to see his reaction. Once you say that, you see blush form brightly on his cheeks and ears. You won, or that's what you thought.
“I—I hate to break it to you, but I'm not done with this song. I haven't even pitched the idea yet—”
“Shhh
I don’t need you to help, I need you to listen. So be good for me and try to stay quiet.” You whisper, hearing his breath hitch. He always submitted to you so easily.
“What do you think? Are you going to let yourself go tonight?” You hum, loving the way that he looked up at you, trying to resist you can see the struggle in his eyes. Jisung's eyes widen in surprise, his breathing becoming heavier as he gazes up at you with a mix of anticipation and desire. You could feel the tension between you both, the air thick with unspoken words and unfulfilled promises.
“It’ll just be a couple minutes
”
“That's what you say, but it takes you hours to actually finish up.”
“Y/N
I really don't want to disappoint you–” Jisung say with a strain in his voice, the sound of his groggy words only making you more desperate.
“Then just shut it, let me do the rest.” You say affirmingly, getting off the table and sitting on his lap, facing him, before quickly going in for a kiss. You kiss him as you teasingly trail your tongue on his bottom lip as you press against him, trying to close as much contact between you as possible. Your desperation was obvious to him. His hands instinctively grabbed onto your waist, not pushing you off but stopping your movements.
“Fine, if we're going to do this then– do you want me to wear a condom?” He mumbles against your neck, feeling his lips against your skin, breathing in the sweet smell of your perfume.
“I don't think it really matters
Plus, who said you'll have the chance to cum inside me? I'm going to guide you through it, whether you like it or not. You will only cum if I give you permission.” You gently palm his crotch, feeling his erection pressing against his shorts. Seeing how worked up he was already, you grab his wrist and lead him to your shared bedroom, shoving him onto the bed without a second thought. He fell back onto the bed, his breath got heavier, a small smile forming on his face, even if he’d try to deny it.
“One last thing, Han
” You murmur, climbing on top of him. Your fingers hooked at the base of his shorts, tugging at them slightly. “This
I need it off.” You move your hand to slide under his shirt, feeling every part of his abdomen, taking in every sensation under your fingertips. Tracing small circles on his skin and pressing against his stomach to feel his firm muscles which he had recently started gaining from his frequent workouts when he wasn’t working. His skin felt hot under your touch, igniting the fire that burned within him even more.
“Can’t you take it off
?” He mumbles, looking up at you with those pretty eyes of his.
“No, do it yourself. I love watching you strip.” You respond with a smug expression spreading across your face. He takes your words in for a moment before immediately taking off his shorts, raising his hips to slip them down to his feet before throwing it somewhere in the room. You stop to take in his body, noticing the wet spot on his boxers, making your body feel more desperate, not that you weren’t already wet to begin with.
You run your finger over his lap, stopping at where the wet spot is and pressing harder against there, to better feel the dampness.
“Can’t you pick up the pace a little
.? “ Han groans in frustration, letting out a shaky breath as you continue to tease him with the wetness strained against his clothed cock.
“No, I don’t want to
” You hum, acting as if you had all of the time in the world, which only agonized him further. “Take off the shirt.”
Han listens to your commands, allowing you to boss him around as if he was your own personal fuck toy. He takes off his shirt in a swift motion, letting his right arm slide to his back and lift up, and strips off the layer of cloth. It was unfair really, you were still fully clothed, teasing him, playing with his arousal, while he was starting to turn into the vulnerable mess you loved.
“Ngh
Why do you keep teasing me?” He said with a small moan that escaped his lips, not even trying to hide his sounds.
“Because, I like hearing those sounds of yours, it's cute.” You say with a smile.
“What are you even going to do to me
?” He said, his voice coming out a lot more whiny than intended, full of curiosity for what you had in store for him. When you heard his whine, you smiled and then pulled down his boxers, closing any barriers from what you wanted, letting you stare at his cock before he looks away from you in embarrassment. His cock was glistening with pre-cum, flushed a delicate pink, pulsating with desperation for this teasing to end. The sight was beautiful– almost sinful– to see him this desperate beneath you.
“I'm going to play with this pretty cock of yours, then after I'm done teasing, I'll let you cum.” You instructed, running your fingers lightly along his length. After you said this, you got off from him and moved to kneel between your legs. “Sit up, please.” Han sat up and used the headboard of the bed to prompt himself up, watching your actions.
“Are you going to–”
“Yes, yes I am. Is that something you want?”
“Mhm! Just
just do it. Please.” He was so desperate for you that he almost moaned. He watched you, noticing the moment you leaned down more and were face to face with his cock. You slowly used your hands to grab it and guide it to your mouth, squeezing his cock upward towards his tip gently, making a generous bead of pre-cum escape. His tip was burning, he was so hard. After some admiration, you ran your tongue over his tip, addicted to the salty taste of him.
“Ngh
 Y/N
” Han moans out your name. He was incredibly worked up. Taking note of how easily he moaned even to any slight action you did. Now you were wrapping your lips around the head, teasing the sensitive hole on his dick, making him moan with every lick and suck. You continued to control the pace, edging him. As you continue, you realize how wet you already were, your panties feeling soaked from your arousal. Your head moves in a steady rhythm, matching the heat pooling between your thighs, taking his hand and guiding it to your clit under your clothes.
His touch on your clit was good, the way his finger circled in a steady pace despite how your knees buckled under the overwhelming pleasure. So good that you didn't even notice him whining, begging you to get off his dick. Before long, you can feel him push against you as Before long, you can feel him push against you as he comes, filling your mouth with his warm seed. Once you finished swallowing his cum, licking up every drop he released, you sat up, You smirk at him, wiping whatever was left on your face, embarrassment filling his face.
“Sorry, I didn't mean to–” He says as panic comes from his voice, as he disobeyed what you ordered him not to do.
“No point of it now. But, don't you think you should be punished for this?” You ask teasingly. You take off your shirt and roll it up to be used as a rope using its long sleeves. You then take off your skirt and panties, tossing them across the room. “As a punishment, I'm going to use this to tie your pretty little hands up, alright?” He nods eagerly, his eyes filled with excitement at the thought of being dominated by you. You smirk, enjoying the power you have over him in that moment.
“I– Alright. If that’s what you want to do.” He says under his breath, trying to not act as excited as his reaction gave away. You take his hands in yours, kissing the back of his hands before tying his wrists together. The feeling of his soft hands makes you exhale with pleasure. He was unreal. Too perfect for your own sanity.
“Ji, since we're doing this. Just know, you can tell me to stop.” You reassure him, making sure that you could fit a finger into the makeshift handcuffs around his wrists to be sure it didn't cut off his circulation. When you take a look at him, you love the sight. He had his hands behind his back, unsurprisingly his dick was hard again, leaking pre-cum as it twitched from the cold breeze in the air. His hair was stuck to his forehead from sweat as he stared up at you, his expression being unreal. His face was flushed, his eyes needy before you looked down at his slightly parted lips, seeing the tip of his tongue making his pink lips wet and glossy before he bit down on his bottom lip. You couldn’t stop looking at the sight. He looked so pathetic.
After admiring the sight for a minute, you let yourself have some fun. Crawling up from the edge of the bed when you took a moment to stare at the man you put into submission to be face to face with him once again You line him up to your dripping entrance, hovering for a second before you finally sit down on him. You felt him filling you up, his girth stretching your walls, making you feel a sensation that you hadn’t felt in seemingly forever.
You let out a satisfied moan when you felt his length filling you up, not even stopping to check on Han who was equally satisfied with your pussy around his length. He let out a stifled moan, quickly biting his lip to stop him from letting out his moans any longer. Fuck, his moaning sounded amazing.
“Han, I told you to not moan, isn't that right?” You tease, looking down to see your pussy sinking down on his cock. What a beautiful sight.
“I'm sorry– I didn't mean to
it just slipped out. You feel so good
” He whined, closing his eyes as he felt you clench. “Did that excite you?”
“Maybe
But you know I can't help it. I feel your cock twitching inside me, Ji
” You mumble, a moan following after you felt his dick twitch again which made you grip onto him, digging your nails into his biceps as you clenched your eyes shut. When you re-opened your eyes, all you see was his chest, which gave you an idea. After a second of thought, you used your tongue to lick up his chest– tasting the sweat on his skin– before stopping at his nipple, you used you mouth to suck at, and gently nibble his nipple. His reaction to this came not from out of his mouth, but you felt it inside of your pussy as his cock was throbbing inside your walls. All of this felt too good. You started to move against him, grinding your clit against his pelvis. The friction against your clit making you moan against his chest. You look up at him, he was watching your movements, holding back his moans. “Han, you can moan now. I can't see you suffer like that any longer
”
He stopped biting his lip, immediately letting out a moan, and finally having the chance to release what he had been holding in all of this time. “Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck— Ngh~
 You feel so good
” He whined, his voice made you clench. He sounded so desperate, for you, only for you.
“Ji– fuck
” You moaned out, your breath growing heavier as you continued to grind against him, now lifting your hips and bringing your body down onto him, riding him slowly. His dick felt so good, your moans were inevitable.
He was moaning with you, trying to grip onto something to steady himself a bit. You wanted him to touch you, but he wasn’t allowed to. You moved in to kiss him, forcing your tongue into his mouth. "Fuck,” he groaned against your lips. Your kiss was sloppy, wet, and good. Your tongue fighting his own for domination. His hips started to move against yours, chasing for more pleasure.
“Han,” you gasped, shocked by the fact that he could still move. You need him to touch you, you take his hands from behind him and then quickly untie him. He smirks as you untie him, almost immediately moving his hands to your waist without hesitation, holding you still as he thrust up into you. You moan from it, even if he didn't change the position, he dominated your insides. "Shit—Han, ngh, slow down..." You said in between moans. His movements only grew more intense, his breath hot against your neck as he whispered,
"I can't, Y/N. Not when you feel this good." You gripped onto him tighter, nails digging harder into his skin.
“I need to change positions. Please.” you whispered, trying to keep down your moans. He stopped and then moved you to be on your back, laying you against the bed before sliding out of you, making you whine slightly to no longer be full of his cock. Your pussy ached in anticipation, allowing him to manhandle you. He moved a pillow under your hips, then he started to touch himself, making sure he was slick with a combination of your juices.
He then kneeled below you, spreading your thighs apart with kisses, and moving his mouth closer to your mound. He started by giving your clit a kiss, licking the sensitive bud and trails his tongue across your labia. His tongue lapped across your folds, savoring the sweet taste of your pussy, taking in every part of you that you allowed him to have. You tangled your fingers in his hair, trying to steady yourself but accidentally doing the opposite since you can’t help yourself but to grind against his face. His tongue was so good. Eventually, he started to tease your hole. He entered the tip on his tongue inside you, inserting his fingers alongside his tongue.
“Fuck! Han
Please, please put them in.” Your desperation showed though, you needed him to make you cum. Once he heard the desperation in your voice, he stopped teasing. He almost instantly inserted his fingers inside you, moving his mouth to suck on your clit as he curled his fingers inside you, instantly hitting your g-spot and started to abuse it. He moves his fingers in an up and down motion, making you moan louder than usual. Quickly, the pressure started to build up, your eyes teared up, and drool started escaping the corners of your mouth. It was so good, he made you cum almost immediately, feeling every part of you build up and crescendo, leaving your pussy to pulsate from the sensation. You scream when you come, his name escaping your mouth along while you soaked his face and the sheets. That was easily the best orgasm of your life.
“Fuck, I didnt realize it was that good. I didn't expect you to squirt on me.” He chuckles as he lifts his head from your glistening pussy, licking your cum from the edges of his mouth and wiping away the rest. The smirk on his face was so hot.
“Han, please fuck me. I need to feel you inside me again, I need to feel your cum dripping from inside me when we're done.”
“Fuck, dont say it like that
” He grows, grabbing you by the wrist, flipping you as if you weighed nothing. “How did I not notice that you're this needy?”
“I've always been ready for it, you just didn't take advantage of it.” You say before spreading your legs, moving your hand down to your sensitive clit, rubbing it slowly. “Are you ready to use me now?” You knew that you looked like a total slut, he loved it. His gaze darkened as you spread yourself out for him, you were perfect. A brief second passes before he flips you over and got on top of you, kissing you intently before poked the tip of his tip inside you, almost as if he was begging for permission to fuck you hard. Of course you let him, I mean, who wouldn’t? From the moment of you saying yes, he starts. You were so wet that he just slid inside you with ease, pounding into you in a sloppy way at first, then finding his rhythm and giving it to you real good.
The pillow under your hips made everything better, allowing him to repeatedly hit your g-spot until you came. He gave you no time to recover as he continued, using your cream as a lubricant. Every thrust inside you felt more overwhelming the next, your abused g-spot getting more used each second. It hurt, but sex with pain was worth having. You grip onto him, your nails digging into his skin, his back getting scratched every time he slammed his pelvis against you. You were almost crying from how good it felt, the two previous orgasms he made you had made you much more sensitive than you should've been. “Fuck! Han, you feel amazing. Oh
 you feel so good
” She moans, her breaths shaky, her words exasperated.
“I love it when you say my name like that
do it again.” He said as he continued to pound into you.
“Han
” You exhale, your voice was shaky from his thrusting.
“Fuck
” He moans, your voice was music to his ears. He loved your sounds, it made him go crazy. The rhythm continues, being steady, consistent, and perfect. Eventually, his voice became more ragged, he was gasping for air; a clear sign that he was getting close. He was painfully hard, you could feel the heat radiating from his body as he continued to chase after his own pleasure. His thrusts were turning sloppy, his tongue was completely relaxed against you as he continued to try and kiss you, but he was too focused on how close he was to cumming in you to care.
“Cum for me baby
please, I need to feel the tightness of your pussy when you cum. I’m so close
” He begs against your neck, his hot breath against your skin. His body glistens in sweat, it was so fucking hot, it only took one more thrust into your pussy to make you cum again.
As you came, you felt his seed spilling inside you. His warm cum made your mind fuzzy, your mind and body could only feel ecstasy at that moment. The sound of Han’s moans against your neck as he collapses on top of you made everything so much better. You had worn him out, you could tell. He was panting, but took the opportunity to lick the sweat off your shoulder. Everything was fuzzy, the room was still hot. Though, you eventually managed to refocus your vision, quickly wrapping your arms around your husband, completely satisfied for the first time in weeks.
Han didn’t last long after his orgasm, from the moment he collapsed on top of you and managed to regain his composure, you felt him falling asleep— not that you mind, it was just unexpected. Normally he would’ve had the energy to watch a movie with you after, but you both were exhausted. The room reeked of a mixture of sex and sweat, and you knew that his cum which was leaking from your pussy was making a mess. But you didn’t care, sleeping messy, sweaty, together after sex was the best, maybe even better than the sex itself.

A few weeks ago, At the grand banquet Blade held for your birthday, You saw two young noble ladies gossiping, One with short pink hair and the other with long grey hair. You couldn't help but be intrigued causing you to go near them, near enough to hear them but far enough to be unnoticed.
"Have you heard? His highness was caught with a noble woman outside the gongdian!" The pink haired young woman spoke as the grey haired young woman beside her gasped. "How come?! I have heard that His Highness is madly in love with her highness after all!", The pink haired young lady immediately butted it. "I thought so at first! But they said that His highness seemed really close to Viscount Kafka!", "It was Viscount Kafka?!"
You ended up shrugging their gossips off as your husband, Blade went through the crowd to get to you. Asking you to dance.
You and Blade danced like there was no tomorrow. Eventually, the banquet ended without fail and you happily spent the night in your husband's embrace.
However, 2 days ago, You decided to follow your husband as he went out the gongdian at midnight. You needed to know where he had been going. Blade had been leaving the gongdian every midnight and had been coming back every morning, Tired and mad at everything. Even you.
You immediately regretted following him as you saw him with Viscount Kafka. They were embracing each other.
Your knight, Dan Heng, seeing the scene, asked. "....Shall we get going now, Your Majesty?", You just nodded as Dan Heng led you back to the gongdian in silence.
The next morning when he once returned again, He seemed for your solace. "Where's the empress?" He spoke to his servants greeting him. "Her highness is still at your chambers, Your Majesty." As soon as he heard the servant's answer, He immediately came to your chambers to find you sitting on the bed. He immediately embraced you, "G'morning, Wo de huanghou.." But you merely brushed him off with a cold shoulder. You could even smell the remnants of Kafka's perfume on him. It made your stomach churn with disgust. "I'm tired." Was all you spoke before standing up to get ready for the day.
He immediately followed you to coo you. "Wo de huanghou, You don't have to do any works today if you're tired." He spoke as he hugged you from behind.
His sweet words really contradict his actions last night.
As soon as he left that night, You ended up running away, Even your knights didn't know where you had gone. And so have your servants. You had escaped through the gates by disguising yourself as a servant that was asked to run errands outside the gongdian.
You haven't been back since. Blade came back the morning, grumpy as always, He immediately asked where you were, as soon as your servants said they haven't seen you since the night before, he immediately striked that bitch down.
"Find her now. If you have yet to find her by sundown, Everyone in the gongdian shall perish! Now go!" He commanded his knights as he stayed behind the palace to do his duties. His servants only then cleans the body down and is immediately replaced.
That same evening, the moon was high up in the sky as you ventured into the dark forest, alone and helpless. Your senses were on high alert as you kept walking.
You then heard a series of screams and slashing sounds nearby, causing you to be frightened. "Maybe this was a bad idea.." You thought to yourself as you turned around to head back but... Found yourself lost. You didn't get to leave any markings after all.
The rustling of the grass and the howling became louder and suddenly a man went right in front of you.
Crimson eyes looming over your form, dark and seemingly in a daze. "Wo de... Huanghou..?", The man spoke, Blade..? You thought to yourself. "Baobei, I've been looking for you.." Blade spoke softly as he dropped his bloody sword as he tried to get close to. You stumbled backwards and he frowned, a pleading lorok in his crimson eyes. "I need you, Wo de huanghou... Please come back to me.." He spoke softly as he opened his arms, waiting for you to come back to him.
Would you accept him or turn him away?

hello! i really like your writing, and honestly i cried a little when i read the child! reader.
can i ask for a situation where the reader accidentally made dottore mad, and he snaps at them? please make it soft and fluffy at the end! thank you!
Tumblr media
The day had been long and grueling. You had spent most of it in Dottore's lab, silently observing as he worked on his latest experiment. Normally, you were content to stay in the background, watching your father with admiration. His brilliance always astounded you, and you loved spending time with him, even if he didn’t always show it.
But today, something was different.
You were only trying to help. After all, how hard could it be to fetch a few supplies for him from the far side of the lab? Dottore had been so immersed in his work, his back turned to you as he meticulously examined a specimen. You thought you could sneak off and retrieve the vial of liquid he had mentioned a few minutes ago.
That’s when everything went wrong.
As you reached for the vial, your hand brushed against a delicate beaker, causing it to wobble dangerously. You tried to steady it, but your reflexes weren’t fast enough. The beaker toppled over, its contents splashing across the counter and creating an unholy mess of colorful liquids.
Before you could even react, Dottore whirled around, his expression shifting from focused concentration to pure, unrestrained fury.
“What did you do?” His voice was cold, but there was an edge to it that made your stomach drop.
“I... I didn’t mean to—” You stammered, backing up slightly. The last thing you wanted was to make him upset. He was your father, your protector, and the thought of disappointing him made your heart ache.
“You never mean to, do you?” Dottore snapped, his usual calm demeanor replaced by a rare, sharp frustration. His eyes, normally filled with quiet intelligence, were now hard with anger. “Do you even understand the consequences of your actions? That substance has taken us weeks to finish! This could’ve ruined everything!”
You flinched at the harshness in his tone. Your father had never yelled at you before. He was strict, yes, but this was different. The disappointment in his voice cut deeper than any harsh word.
“I’m sorry,” you whispered, feeling the weight of the situation pressing on your chest. “I didn’t mean to mess things up.”
Dottore took a deep breath, his gaze flicking from the mess on the counter back to you. His shoulders tensed, and for a moment, you thought he might say something else. But instead, he said nothing, his expression unreadable.
You stood there, waiting for him to calm down, but the silence stretched on. The weight of his anger hung in the air, and you felt smaller than you ever had before. You just wanted him to forgive you, to tell you it was okay. You wanted everything to be okay again.
Finally, Dottore spoke, but his tone was more subdued, though still edged with frustration.
“You really need to be more careful,” he said, his voice quieter now. “You can’t just rush around without thinking. Do you understand?”
You nodded, your eyes cast downward. “I understand, I’m sorry, I won’t do it again.”
Dottore’s gaze softened just slightly, though there was still a flicker of frustration lingering in his eyes. He walked over to the counter and began to clean up the mess you had caused, his movements quick and precise.
For a few moments, the two of you stood in silence but the tension between you hung in the air like an unspoken cloud. You wished you could do something to make it better, to show him how sorry you were but all you could do right now is look down and clutch at the seams of your outfit.
Finally, as the last of the spilled liquid was wiped away, Dottore sighed and turned to you. He looked down at you with a mixture of exhaustion and something softer, something that made your heart ache a little.
“You didn’t do it on purpose,” he said, his voice no longer sharp but filled with a quiet resignation. “But that doesn’t mean you can’t be more careful next time.”
You nodded again, your eyes up now, meeting his gaze. “I promise, Dad. I’ll be more careful.”
Dottore paused for a moment before taking a step closer to you. He placed a hand gently on your head, a touch that felt like an apology in its own way. You could see the weariness in his eyes now, the stress from a long day of work finally catching up to him.
“You’re still my child, even when you make mistakes,” he murmured, his tone softening. “But I expect more from you. Do you understand?”
“I do,” you whispered, your voice barely audible.
Dottore studied you for a long moment, and for the first time that day, his stern expression softened into something warmer. He pulled you into a brief, but genuine, hug. It wasn’t the kind of hug you were used to—there was no exuberance or overbearing affection, but it was enough. It was all he could offer in that moment.
“Just be more careful next time,” he said again, his voice much softer now. “And I’ll be here to help when you need it. We all make mistakes, but we learn from them.”
You hugged him back, your arms wrapping around his waist, and you felt the tension from earlier melt away. You didn’t need to be perfect—Dottore didn’t expect that. He just wanted you to be careful, to learn and grow.
“I’ll be more careful, I promise,” you whispered again, and this time, you knew he believed you.

Dancing with Q today was a totally different experience from our last session, with our time devoted almost solely to technique, something I definitely needed. I love the progress made, I feel much more confident about the turns we worked on, they’ve come miles in the last few weeks alone. Still, I beat myself up mentally for how long it’s taken me to get this.
Q is always positive and encouraging so there’s *no reason* for me to feel this way, but I sometimes feel as if somehow I disappointed him by not reaching this point in my overall dancing much faster than I did. As if earlier on he had high hopes that I’d turn out to be better sooner, but that he’s resigned himself to the poorer reality.
When I first started working only with Q three years ago, I was not a clean canvas, unlike X or other similar dancers. I’d learned many things incorrectly or otherwise developed a lot of bad habits with previous partners and instructors that had to be painstakingly corrected.
Considering how far I had to go, and also how very little time I’ve actually had with Q (especially added up on a weekly basis), I’m doing fairly well. I know that if I were able to dance as much as I wish to, progress would, of course, be much faster. I’m so impatient! Where I am now is not where I’d imagined I’d be at this point, but it’s still exciting and full of possibilities. I’m thankful to be here.

Feveruary Day 14 - The Sleepiest Ranger
Tumblr media
G / 745 words. The prompt was “falling asleep in inappropriate places”
Read below or on ao3
“Reyes.” Carlos groans and doesn’t open his eyes. Maybe whoever it is will go away. “Reyes. Yo, sleeping beauty. Carlos!”
Carlos jerks awake, his chin slipping off the hand it was propped on. “What.” He looks around. He’s at his desk at work. Which is not ideal. At least it’s  just Sam in here. “God, sorry, I’m up. I’m good.” He scrubs a hand over his face, as though he could wipe away the exhaustion and sinus pressure. Jonah’s had a cold for the last few days, and TK had finally succumbed the night before. Carlos was up for a good part of the night with Jonah, who was cranky and clingy and who has not yet learned to adequately cover his coughs and sneezes. It was a long night.
Carlos has always thought of himself as having a pretty strong constitution, recovering in a day or two from viruses that knock TK down for a week. But having a child in preschool is challenging those assumptions. They can’t seem to go a month these days without the whole household getting sick.
Carlos had hoped maybe he’d avoided this bug, but of course he isn’t that lucky. Earlier today he went to dig his notebook out of his pocket and dropped crumpled used tissues on the floor of the interrogation room in front of the witness. Not his most intimidating move, but somehow he managed to get the information they were looking for anyway.
After that interrogation, Sam had made some calls to verify what the witness had said, while Carlos stared blankly at the case file on his desk. Apparently he drifted off. Very professional, Reyes.
Sam looks at him skeptically now. “Sounds like Hall was telling the truth. We need to go over to that garage and see if Streeter’s there. You good?”
Carlos clears his throat and coughs into his sleeve, his sinuses screaming. Goddamn little kid plague germs. “I’m good.”
“Sure you are. I’m driving. Your window stays down. Try to breathe away from me.”
***
Somehow, they manage to get what they need at the garage; it’s not enough for an arrest yet, but it’s a great start. Sitting in the passenger seat, Carlos hunches into his jacket. Usually he strips down to shirt sleeves as fast as possible; it’s hot enough with a dress shirt and tie. Today he’s clammy with sweat, but chilled if he removes the jacket. He stares blankly out the window, trying to honor his promise not to breathe in Campbell’s direction. Beside him, Sam is talking about his theories, but it’s a drone that combines with the fuzzy buzzing in Carlos’s head. It’s way too much work to try to pay attention, and Carlos thinks he might as well close his eyes for a few minutes before they arrive at the office.
***
There’s a tapping on Carlos’s right shoulder, and then the door to the SUV opens and Carlos thinks he would fall out if he weren’t buckled in. “Guh?” he says. HIs ears are stopped up now, his throat raw from post-nasal drip.
“Hey, baby,” says TK. His voice is hoarse, his hair messy, and he’s got a grumpy-looking Jonah on his hip.
“What are you doing here?” Carlos asks.
“This is our house, baby.”
Huh. So it is.
“Yeah, you’re not going back to the office to infect everyone else,” says Sam from the driver’s seat. “And if you got drool and snot on my upholstery just now, you’re going to be cleaning it up once you’re healthy again.”
Carlos groans. “I can work.”
“You can’t stay awake,” Sam points out.
“Baby, we’re exhausted and so are you. Your mom dropped off soup. Come inside so we can sit down.”
“I wanna watch Encanto,” puts in Jonah.
“Oh, that’s a good one, Reyes, you should get out of my car and go watch that.”
Carlos tries to laugh and starts coughing again. “All right. I’m coming, I’m coming.” He unbuckles his seatbelt and takes the hand TK offers to carefully step out of the car.
TK puts an arm around him and they lean into each other. “Thanks for bringing him home, Sam,” he says reluctantly. He’s never quite gotten over his dislike for the man, despite Carlos now having a good working relationship with him. It’s sweet how protective he is.
“Hey. Thanks for taking him off my hands.”
“Animal room,” says Jonah firmly.
“Okay, okay, mijo. We’ll watch the animal room part.”

The Verdict Due
SIMON 'GHOST' RILEY x FEM!READER TASK FORCE 141 x FEM!READER
Traitors Among Us (Part 1)
Innocents Among You (Part 2)
The Guilty Plea (Part 3)
Clear Skies (Part 5)
Summary: You head to Laswell to talk on the rest of your now ruined military career. Of course, you're forced to confront your team as it happens, the last people on earth you'd like to see.
If you liked this would you Buy me a Coffee?
Tumblr media
Simon's steps are slow, lacking energy or purpose. Releasing the buckles strapping his vest down to him, he finally arrives to his door, lifting the camo from himself.
His forehead pressing into the wooden door, he finds it harder and harder to open everyday, seeing reminders of you every moment of everyday, when he closes his eyes, when he lays down in bed. Hell when he opens the door. He hated this room now.
Outside of the place that you both had made your home away from war, from battle, from the base, this was where the two of you had once spent most of your time.
He raised his head off the door, before bringing it back down on it, then doing it again, this time hard enough to hurt. "Fuck," he cursed, cursing himself, his stupid decisions, the times he'd never get back, the mistakes he'll never be able to erase. Huffing out bitterly, squeezing his eyes shut, he's still for a moment, before banging his fist against the wall. "Fuck!" There's a crackle along the wall, a clatter of dust and dried paint hitting his feet.
A shuddered breath leaves him, swallowing down his grief, his anger at himself. But, he can't help it. He's ruined everything.
Simon's head stays there against the doorway, he doesn't want to go in.
His head turns a bit, seeing a figure down the hallway, straightening up, dark eyes squinting. "Johnny?"
Quiet and Still. The Scotsman's mouth is set in a hard line, he runs a hand down his face, smearing the mess he'd made of himself. "I..." he breathes deeply. "I saw her today."
"You what?" Simon perks up, eyes wide. He looks past his comrade, seeing the open doorway of your room, "She's here," he speaks, voice alight and hopeful. Making his way past Johnny, "She's here?" he asks this time, bracing himself at her doorway.
But, the room is a mess and void of you. He'd nearly forgotten how the soldiers had left it, the day it happened he could watch it, it would've been too finalizing of what he thought was your betrayal. Today was meant to be the day they'd clean it all up, due to plaguing themselves with missions and ops that required long weeks, long hours. No one wanted to think about what they'd done.
But, now they'd only made another mistake in waiting too long. And now you had to be greeted by this mess.
"I didn't know it was--" Johnny couldn't turn back to the room, back to Simon, as he spoke. "I didn't know we did so much to her. I thought--how long--how could I--" he shakily began. "--how could you?" Simon's eyes flicker to his friend, dark circles and sunken cheeks seem to worsen. "She was so...she couldn't even look at me, Si. Like I'd make her sick, like I'd--hurt her again...I've never--" his fingers claw at his chest, hoping to rip away the ache in his heart, eyes haunted to tears and staring into the dark of his memory as he thought back. "I'd never--" he can't finish.
"She was here?" Simon asked again.
Johnny's clouded eyes look to Simon, opening his mouth before opting for nodding. Clearing his throat, finally seeming to get a handle on himself, "Just left."
"She what?" Simon bolts out towards the stairs, pushing through the doorway and jumping down the first flight to rush through the rest.
As he gets to the lobby floor, he shoves through the door, revealing the hallway to him, running down the long stretch before ramming into the side wall to catch himself at the corner. He continues down the way, running as fast as he's able, before bursting through the side doors of the front lobby.
He sees you immediately, beyond the glass doorways.
"(Y/n)..."
He's running before he can think to get his legs moving.
---
Leaving the dormitories, finally leaving behind the spare hospital wear that you had swapped for your own clothes, you waved down the first vehicle you'd seen.
The driver letting you into the truck, the two of you unaware as he begins to drive off, Simon shoving his way through the residential doors and coming to a stop in the middle of the street as you drive away.
You, having hopped a ride with one of the soldiers making his rounds, the Jeep shakes with the changing terrain, providing more conversation than the trooper that was much too quiet. Shifting his shoulders, adjusting his fingers around the leather, glancing one too many times through the mirror.
It was getting weird. But, you were a familiar face on the base, unfortunately now, it used to be because you were good at your job, the best sniper they had on the force. But now, it was because you were the first proclaimed traitor of the force in decades and the first to be wrong about.
So, the new attention is nothing to be pleased about.
"Find something interesting to look at, soldier?"
Back straightening, body stiffening and eyes facing the road, the trooper swallows thickly at having been caught eyeing you. "No, ma'am!"
"Then I suggest you keep your eyes on the road."
"Yes, ma'am!" clearing his throat. "Sorry, ma'am, I don't mean to stare."
Arms crossed, head turned to watch the smaller buildings go by, your jaw clenched. "It's fine..." you breathe, before relaxing a bit more as the drive goes farther and farther away from the residential areas. Eyes flickering over to the still tense trooper, you mutter. "Ease."
His shoulders drop, head turning, flustered. "Sorry, ma'am."
It was always strange to be called 'Ma'am' by fellow soldiers, usually you were only a year or so apart, others you had been younger by ten years or older by five. But, this trooper was new to the force, young, clearly still jumpy, you had been the same after your first missions on the Task Force.
"I'm sorry, ma'am," the trooper then speaks, shakily.
"You don't have to keep--"
"About what happened to you," he continued. "I'm not sure if you heard that yet, but it's--that sounds--I can't imagine. I'm sorry that happened to you."
For a moment too long you're quiet, holding your breath, staring at the scenery as it whistled on past, the wind whipping through your hair. Your nails tearing into your skin as you rake them over your scars, smearing the line of blood left after ripping out your IV line, abandoning it as you found a ride.
"Get any cool scars out of it, at least?" he jokes, lightheartedly.
Your eyes snap his way, his eyes widening before he looks back to the road, back to stiff.
You open your mouth to speak, but you can't. You're just angry, too angry to find the words. But, you don't want to take it out on him, he was just attempting to alleviate whatever burden he imagined to be on your shoulders. But, all it was was a reminder, this was all anyone could think of anymore, when it came to you, this ordeal.
The apologies, the reminders, the quiet looks, the whispers, the fucking gnawing pain still splintered through your spine, you were tired of it.
The car pulls up to the largest administrative building on the base camp, hopefully you were right and this was where Laswell was posted up.
Quickly pulling the car handle as the trooper steps out of the vehicle to assist you, you hurriedly speak as he reaches to touch you. "I've got it," you hiss out, harsher then you meant. Stepping down and off the platform, onto the sidewalk, you forget you don't have your IV pole to at least stabilize you. So, when you stumble, he grabs your arm, his other resting on your shoulder.
"Woah!" his grip lacks gentleness, though not bruising, it's enough to set you off.
Your arm goes back and over his arm, shrugging him off, roughly. "I said I got it!" Your palm pushing into his shoulder and sending him back and off of you, he shifts back and nearly off his feet, catching himself.
"Alright, jeez!"
You're stumbling back into the light pole luckily a few steps behind you, leaning yourself against the cemented metal, you balance yourself. Shaking off the buzz in your ears and rubbing away the tension built along your skin, taking a few shuttered breaths, turned away from the soldier.
The trooper takes a few steps away from you, expression lifted to frustration and annoyance, rolling his eyes, brows furrowed and back pedaling to the Jeep. "Fucking crazy," he mutters to himself, adjusting his gear and stepping up back to the vehicle.
But, he doesn't make it very far until you're on him.
"What the fu--!"
Taking the opening of his kevlar and yanking him out of the vehicle, unable to catch himself fast enough to get to his feet. You hold a steel grip on the collar of his uniform, literally holding him up by his straps, pulling his entire bodyweight off the ground, leaning down so you're face to face with him. "Say it again," you snapped, eyes dark and boring into his skull. "I wanna have a good excuse for what I'm about to do to you."
He was taller, probably stronger, but looking up at you, he could see the years of mayhem and chaos that's burned itself into your irises, made you the lieutenant he'd tripped up on properly respecting. "I didn't--I didn't say anything! I'm sorry, ma'am, it won't--it won't happen again!"
Nostrils flared, eyes flickering between his wide, fearful ones, your hands loosen around his gear. He falls forwards, landing on his forearms with a groan, releasing a relieved breath.
He looks up, watching as you turn and make your trek into the building. You had seemed so fragile before, with a limp in your walk, scars head to toe and those braces along your legs, he assumed you had no fight in you. He couldn't have imagined, five minutes, he'd be wrong.
---
"Laswell."
The Station Chief turns, manila folder files in hand, brows raised at the intrusion before her eyes widen at the sight of your tired figure.
"Gray..."
You don't wait to be invited inside, instead pulling up a chair as you let the door close behind you. Not fully out of a lack of respect but your legs were killing you and surely if you wait a second longer you'll literally tear a muscle. "You free?"
"Never. But, I can make time," she answers. "Is something wrong?"
You bite down on your tongue. What isn't wrong.
"I put in a request for council in resignation, ma'am. I'm just here to know if it went through."
"I did...receive your request," The woman is still quite surprised to see you, a bit off put at your presence, hearing about your scars was one thing, seeing them was another. "Of course. Though, I expected you to wait for my call before deciding to come to me."
"I'm sure," you feigned a slight chuckle that faded as soon as it started. You say nothing else but stare.
Laswell sighs, tossing down the folder she'd been holding. "Look, Lieutenant Gray--"
"Just (L/N)," you gritted out. "Please." You couldn't stand your codename at the moment, you didn't want to carry a single thing this team had given you.
"Lieutenant..." Laswell pulled up a chair on the opposite side of the long table, facing you, "You've accomplished much on the force, saved lives, eliminated threats that had the potential to level the united nations, your honors and distinctions. At the very least, here, your guidance is a treasure..."
"I'd like my resignation to be approved, Chief--"
Laswell continues. "I need you to careful think about what you're doing here, Gray--(L/n). I don't want you to be motivated by what's happened to you, you still have a place on the force, it doesn't have to be beside your team. Don't waste your talents in the field because of this experience."
"Experience," You scoffed at the word, nose cringing up in disgust at the downplay. "I didn't go on a rollercoaster at Disney World, god--I was tortured by my team for weeks while my fiancé threatened to kill me afterwards..." you were about to lose your mind. "What makes any of you think I'd want to stay here? Why can't any of you just respect my decision to leave? I'm resigning."
Laswell settles back into her chair, lips pressing together, she makes a hum of a sound. "I can arrange a transfer," she compromised. "But, my authorization goes through only after informing Price, he also needs to sign off on this."
Your jaw clenches, your fingers tightening around your clasped hands. "Then how about that favor you owe me?"
Station Chief straightens, brow lifting and arms crossed. "Excuse me, soldier?"
Sighing, reaching a hand into your bag, you bring out a folder of your own, some documents signed off. "I had to wonder who the evidence was sent to, given it was right after our mission and Price doesn't even look at his reports to sign off on something in under 24 hours, it wasn't him," watching as Laswell opened the folder, revealing her own name signing off on the interrogation, just a few of the photos that'd declared you guilty. "Thanks for ruining my career, Laswell."
She spreads out the evidence, her own signature on the papers, she breathes out. "And what are you trying to do here, Gray?"
"Stop calling me that."
"Trying to threaten me with what exactly--?"
"Nothing," you answered. "I'm asking for a favor, from someone I thought was my friend," you find it harder to say, Laswell's jaw clicks and she shifts in her chair. "You owe me that much."
"It's the job, (L/n). I was protecting our own, our resources were very promising."
"Until they weren't, huh?" you sarcastically gritted out.
"Yes..." Laswell sighs. "I do apologize, (L/n), but--"
"Just do this for me," you interrupted, pleading this time. "Please. I can't go to him, I can't even look at Simon, let alone Price. Forget about being in the same room with them. I just--I can't be here, this isn't where I belong anymore," looking down at your hands, the scars that circled your wrists. This was a final decision. "I'm resigning with or without you."
Rising from your seat, Laswell stands as you do, "You resign without clearance, they'll take everything from you. Your pension, your insurance, retirement, everything, you'll be dishonorably discharged, you understand that?"
"'Course, I do," you admit. "Honestly, I thought I'd be dead on a mission somewhere before I saw any of that, I don't expect anything out of this. Nothing's...worth any of this."
As you turn the handle to leave, Laswell speaks once more. "I just wanted to enlighten you on what I'm risking for you, signing off on this."
At that, you glance back to her, watching as the older woman sighs heavily, picking up a pen, opening up the manila folder she'd been holding onto previously. Opening it up to reveal your resignation papers.
"If I do this, when I call on you, Gray," Laswell says. "I expect you to be there."
As she wrote her signature down on the dotted line, you swallowed down the ache that's plagued you for weeks, "I swear."
As the station chief continues down the packet, turning to the next page and signing once again, you slowly slide back into your chair, sitting silently as you watch her sign off on your leave from military service.
You bring your hand up fast as a tear runs down your face, wiping it away before Laswell can see, sniffing quietly.
---
Walking slowly down the side hallway of the admin building, you stare out into space, your eyes glistening as you hold the signed resignation packet to your chest, pressing it to yourself tightly.
Passing the front desk, the security posted up at the elevators, you enter the main hall and come to a stop. Your grip on your documents tightening as you watch rain pour out onto the outer glass of the windows.
Watching the downpour outside, you can't seem to get your feet moving to just leave this place. That's all you need to do, just...walk right through it, into a car, past the gates, onto the highway. Just...go home.
As you flinch at the pitter patter of the rain hitting the building, a short burst of thunder, you try to inch your way closer to the doors but the closer you get, the more you can remember. The more you can feel.
The rain gets louder, and louder. It's cold, although you recall it being 90 degrees and in the middle of the desert. It must just be you.
Putting your folder away and into your bag, the automatic doors open for you, but it's too hard to step through. Staring out into the open landscape, the dividing border of the desert land and the gates surrounding the base. The dry ground now turning muddy, trucks driving by and the mud swelling up at the change in pressure, soldiers rushing through the rain, kicking up mud, flicking up umbrellas.
Breathing deeply, you scuff your shoes forwards, feeling the first drop hit your skin, it's warm, but it's no comfort. Gasping at the feeling, you stumble back into the building, the automatic doors closing.
Short gasps of breath quietly leave you, your nails burrow into the skin of your forearm, you stare at the rain as it pelts at the ground, flooding pot holes and falling into storm drains.
The automatic door opens again, you back up, shifting to the side, as an officer gives you a strange look as he walks past and into the rain.
Your hesitance to proceed into the rain was noticed by a few in the main lobby. Like Kyle, who still stood in his mission uniform, dropping off his reports to the main desk, getting off the elevator to see you staring up at the cloudy sky.
His eyes widening in shock, he's lost in his own world when he begins to take steps towards you, lips parting in disbelief, voice cracking as he breathes out to say, to beg or plead for forgiveness.
The automatic door opens again as you shuffle forwards to try to step outside, he doesn't fully notice your fear of the weather when he speaks.
"(Y/n)..."
You turn at the sound of your name and his eyes flicker to the large scar along your cheek, the red of your eye still, that had changed the color of your iris, maybe permanently. The way you hold your bag tight in your hands as if to shield it from the rain before yourself.
You don't say anything, he hadn't expected you to. You stare at him, surprised to see him, then the expression changes to terror, brows pulling inward and hands sinking into your bag to bring it closer. His heart aching at your reaction to him, his lips pressing together, he doesn't know if she should say another thing. Just let you go.
"(Y/n), I..." he can't help himself as he continues, breathlessly.
You back away from him, out of the building and into the rain. The moment it hits your back, soaking through your shirt, rain hitting the top of your head, down your back, you tense up and spin around.
Kyle's brows furrow, before worriedly witnessing as you curl into yourself instantly, crying out in terror, your hands coming up and over your head. "(Y/n)!"
Realizing what you'd done, your back hits the glass doorway, too late for the doorway to register you wanting to come back inside. You stumble to the corner of the building, just next to the doorway and under the too small gutter to find any shelter from the pelting water at your skin.
A loud sob leaves you, squeezing your eyes shut, you can feel the torture starting again, the unbearable freeze of your limbs, the force of crashing pounds of water along your spine. The screams they would pull from you...
Your torment lasts only a few seconds, suddenly the rain stops, but the sound continues around you. A coat settling around your shoulders and over your head, Kyle's hands on your shoulders, he's yelling over the thunder. "Come on, let's get you out of this. Come on, (Y/n)," he takes your arms. "Let me help you, please!"
"You did this," you cried. "I told you. I told you it wasn't me. But, you kept turning it back on! And then you'd leave it like that and it drove me fucking insane. I'll never be ok again, I can't--" hyperventilating. "Don't touch me, Kyle."
Kyle swallows thickly, head hanging low, squeezing his eyes shut for a moment before leaning down to you. "I can't leave you here like this, please, love," he hauls you up to your feet. You shove him back, pressing yourself further into the corner, shaking, "(Y/n)--"
"Don't put your fucking hands on me. What don't you get, huh?" you spat. Pulling off the jacket he'd placed over you, tensing at ever drop of rain that fell over you after, but you toss it back at him. "I don't want anything from you. Never again."
"I'm sorry," Kyle clutches the jacket. "I'm so bloody sorry. I'm sorry for every damn thing I'd ever done to you. I'm sorry we didn't listen. I should've never done that to you. I didn't want to, I just--I thought I was doing the right thing for all of us," his voice breaks and he cries under the rain as his little sister, his family, hatefully stares him down. "I thought you'd give in, that it'd be over as quick as it started! I'm sorry I couldn't trust that you were telling the truth all that time."
"I don't want your apology!" you yell. "Cause you'll never know the same feeling. You'll never understand what you've taken from me. What you've done to me--" hiccupping painfully.
Kyle looks away from you, inhaling with a shudder, reddening eyes are covered as he raises his hands to run over his face.
"Your apologies. Your wishes for forgiveness," you seethe. " You should keep them. They mean nothing to me."
With that, you shove on past him, re-entering the building and rushing down the hallway, you turn the corner away from Kyle. Leaving the distraught man out in the rain, the automatic door sliding closed as he looks on after you.

┌───────────────────────── Â·ï»ż ï»ż ï»żÂ· ï»ż Â·ï»ż ï»ż ï»żÂ· ♡
It had been a week since you had discovered Alastor's ears and he had let you touch them for the first time. Sneaking on him a few times to caress or play with them, maybe even a little tug or kiss to them when none of the others were looking. The relationship between you two also changed to something different, you couldn't exactly put a name to it, but it was more than friends, but definitely less than lovers. It confused you. Alastor confused you. Once he is nice to you, cooks you dinner, and lets you play with his ears while he writes a new script, the next time he rather distances himself from you, makes jokes here and there as if he himself didn't know what to do nor how to act.
The others also had picked up on the change between you two, Angel was teasing you about it a lot, Husker just warned you to be careful, Niffty was herself like always and Charlie was super happy about how close you two seemed to have gotten now.
So now to your new mission at hand, round two of your self-proclaimed game. Figure out if Alastor has a tail and if yes, get around to touch it! But this time it seemed to be harder than before, Alastor had his guard up a lot around you now, even when he let you play with his ears. Every time your hand wanders away from his ears down to try and peak under his coat, his hand either guides yours back up to his head or he entirely gets up and leaves, making sure you cannot find out if he has a fluffy little tail.
So now you were sitting at the bar, head resting on the counter as Husker slid your favorite drink over to you. "No look yet huh sweets? Was surprised you even got around to touching his ears without injuries." Angel now sat down beside you, softly patting your back as you let out a tired groan. "I just don't get it! I mean he saw that in the it wasn't that bad when I touched his ears! So why is it so bad now if I figure out if he has a tail too!" Pouting, you sit up a bit now taking a sip from your glass. "Maybe he doesn't have one, none of us ever saw one at least. Or maybe if he has one it's a different feeling for him than his ears?" Husker was cleaning a glass now as he spoke to you. Maybe he was right but.. you really wanted to know if he had a cute matching tail. Eyes going around the foyer now as you notice Alastor making his way up the stairs.
"Al! Wait up!" Jumping down from the barstool to follow him up the stairs, he waited for you on the stairs before walking up beside you. Eyes glancing over to him, he looked calm as always, his signature smile adorning his face, staff clutched in one hand as he walked alongside you. "How can I help you today dear?" Looking over at him now, you simply followed him to where he was going. "Are you doing a broadcast today? May I listen again?" Raising an eyebrow slightly Alastor looks over to you, nodding in agreement as he leads you to his radio tower. Over the last week, you had listened to his broadcast live two times already, which made you happy that he allowed you to join him. Opening the door for you, you enter first as you immediately take a seat at the table, Alastor had put up a second chair for you. Still, you noticed how his eyes had a glimmer of suspicion at how you suddenly wanted to listen in today.
Waiting for him to start the broadcast, your head was leaning on your hand as you watched Alastor with a smile. Suddenly an idea came into your head, trying to suppress the grin that was threatening to grow on your face. Alastor was focused on his broadcast, talking about something you weren't even listening to anymore. Reaching your hand over now, your fingertips softly graze his ears, as Alastor lets out a surprised yet quiet yelp, before turning his head to you with a warning glare. Returning his gaze with a smirk now, as you stand up from your seat and slowly walk over to him, he was glaring at you now. You were so close to fucking up, but this was a chance. Reaching your hand out to the back of his coat to pull it up. Quickly the > On Air < sign switched up, as Alastor grabbed your wrist in a rather right grip. Turning his head to you now, his antlers had grown in size, a red X on his forehead, and eyes turned to dials. You definitely fucked up now.
"DÌ·ÌŠÌ’Ì‘ÍÍ‘ÌąÍ™ÌŸÌŒÌ˜ë̞̟͇͍͓͂̓͝ÌČ͇a̟͙̻̞̫̞̎̑̈́͑̕rÌžÍ€Ì‰ÌŒÌ‰Ì’Ì–ÍŽÌŒÌłÍ ̶̜͉͔̒̋̌̒̊̕ͅw̛̔͒̑̎͝ͅÌČÌÌ°ÌŒhÌŽÌ”Ì‰Í—Ì€Ì…ÍšÌźÌŹÌœÍ…aÌŽÍÍ€Ì‡Í‚ÌżÌÍ–ÍÌ©ÌŁt̷̛̓̆̕͠ÌȘÌŁÌ„Í“Ì§ ÌŽÌ‚Í€Í˜Í‹Í€Í“Í“ÌąÍ™ÌŻwÌ”Í›Í Ì‹Í›ÌŠÍ…Ì˜ÌŁÌ«ÍšeÌŽÍ„Ì„Ì‰ÌˆÌ›ÌąÌ„ÌĄÌŠÍ‡ř̶͓̜̗̻̓̊̐͘ͅeÌ·ÌƒÍƒÌŒÍÌˆÌźÌ»ÍˆÍ•ÍŽ ̠̝̫̔̑́̍̈́̈́ÌșÌČyÌŽÍ„ÌŒÍÌżÍ„ÌłÌ©ÍÍŽÌ™oÌ¶Ì…Í›Í˜Í‘ÌŒÌ°ÌÍŽÍˆÌŁuÌ¶ÍÍ‹ÍÌ’ÌŽÌÌ„ÌąÌžÌȘr̶ ̟͕͉̫̻̔̎̐̋̀͘iÌŽÌ…ÌŽÍ„Í€ÌŒÍ•Í…ÍˆÌźÌšnÌžÍ†Í›Ì”ÌŽÍ‹Ì ÌłÌźÌ€Ì»t̞̖̻̐̎̂̏̕ÌČ̘̭e̞͎͎̭̗̔̓̍̓̉̈́nÌ¶Í„Í„Í„Ì‡ÌŸÌŹÍˆÍŽÌ€Í‰ţ̶̱͓̅̔͋̀̄̚ÌČi̶̒̏͐̈́͝ÌČÍ•Ì€Ì©ÌĄoÌ·ÌŒÍÌ”Ì„ÌÌ—Ì°ÌŻÌ©Ì»nÌžÌ”Í†ÌŽÍ†Ì…ÌžÌĄÌ©Ì„Ì§s̜̔̎͒́͠ͅÌȘÌŁÌ±Í” Ì·Í˜ÍŒÍ‚ÌżÌÍ…ÌÍÍˆÌ„r̶̈́̈́͂̋̀Ìč͚͉̞̊iÌ¶Ì›ÌŸÍÍŠÌÍ‰Í‡Í‡ÌĄÌšg̛̞͉͎̰̖͋̒͒̓̚h̜̫͕̎͊͊̈́͝͠ÌȘͅtÌ·Í—Í„ÍƒÌœÌ’Í‰ÌłÌ©Ì°Ìœ ÌŽÌ’Í‚ÌÍÌÌŹÌ±ÌšÌ°Ì nÌžÌżÌƒÌ…ÌÍ‘ÌŹÍÌŹÌŁÌ—ö̞̠̰̊͌͗̚̚͜͜w̜̎̓́̎͗͆Ìş̦̖ͅ?ÌŽÌ“Ì€ÌŽÌ‚Í†Ì Ì–ÌŻÌ€Íš"
Gulping once, you try to pull your arm back from his grip, which just makes him tighten it. Hissing lowly, you squeeze your eyes shut, it was slowly stinging a bit from how tight his grip was. "Al.. You're hurting me!" Alastor finally turned back to himself, letting go of your red wrist now, a print of his fingers visible as you cradled your hand against your chest. "I'm going to leave for now.." Head down as you hurriedly leave the room, closing the door behind you as you dart for your room, ignoring Angel's calls who just walked past you. Throwing yourself on your bed now, you looked at your wrist scared now. He had never used his demon form for you, there was no way of denying that he had scared you. Closing your eyes to push away the tears that were slowly building up in your eyes, as your consciousness drifts away.
"Dear, wake up." A hand on your shoulder was softly shaking you awake, lifting your head to take in your surroundings before meeting Alastor's eyes. Sitting up quickly, you scoot a bit away from him as you watch him with wide eyes. "Alastor..! What are you doing in my room?" Watching him now, as he takes a seat on the edge of your bed, making sure to not make you any more uncomfortable by getting too close to you. "I'm sorry about back there, I lost it a bit, I shouldn't have." Despite smiling, you noticed that Alastor was genuinely apologizing to you. "I'm sorry, I crossed a line there, I used your trust in me listening to your broadcast live, I'm truly sorry." Laying your hand near his own carefully, letting him decide if he wants to be touched right now. Looking down, he softly takes your hand, as he presses a kiss against the red fingerprints he had left behind. His eyes were closed right now as his lips linger a second longer than they usually do. "I'll make it up to you, I promise." Raising to his feet now, he gave you a soft smile, before leaving you stunned in your room.
Laying back down against your pillows, your gaze was on the ceiling as your cheeks became a soft shade of red. What was he thinking? Turning onto your side now as you hug your pillow against your chest, looking to where Alastor sat just a few minutes prior.
The next day arrives, as you make your way down the stairs to the others. Charlie was right now explaining something to Angel and Husker, hyper as always. Vaggie was simply sitting on one of the couches with a book right now, while Alastor was nowhere to be seen. "Hey Vaggie, have you seen Alastor?" Leaning over the back of the couch now so the girl could see you as she looks over to you. "He went out rather early today, saying something about Overlords meeting and visiting a friend in Cannibal Town." Raising your eyebrows slightly at that, friend in Cannibal Town? Definitely Rosie. He probably decided to tag along with her a bit after the meeting, as she was also an Overlord. Thanking Vaggie, you go over to the other three to let Vaggie read her book in peace.
"Okay and then when Heaven agrees we could- Oh good morning!" Waving to you immediately now as Charlie noticed you coming over. Greeting them all with a smile and good morning now before Charlie starts to ramble on about her plans. It was nice seeing such a hyper and happy girl in hell, it was definitely a change to how people normally were down here.
"By the way sweets, would you mind tagging along to the city today? I wanted to go visit some clothing stores you would definitely like!" Angel laid his hand on your shoulder now as he asked you, before even thinking you agreed. It had been a while since you had last been to the part of Pentagram City where all the clothing stores were located. Besides Alastor isn't here today to try any of your attempts to see his tail nor to play with his ears. After quickly getting changed, Angel led you to the stores he was talking about. And he sure was right, you found so many good clothes to your liking in many different styles. One thing hell didn't lack was good fashion, probably thanks to Velvette from the Vees.
Leaving the store now with a lot of bags in hand, Angel decided to pull you to his favorite > cheap yet delicious < restaurant as he called it. While looking around a bit, you couldn't help but notice a certain red-haired demon walking down the streets, alongside Rosie, as their arms were hooked together, laughing. You knew they were simply good old friends, yet you couldn't do anything about this weird feeling bubbling up in your stomach. Reaching your hand out, you softly tug on Angel's shirt, head hung low. "What's it, sweets? Ya suddenly don't seem so good." His hand softly raised your chin now to look at you, noticing your pained expression. "Are ya hurt?" Taking a good look at you to make sure you weren't visibly hurt anywhere. Raising your head again, your eyes on the two other demons, Angel's eyes follow yours before letting out a sight.
"I know they're only friends but.. I feel weird seeing them I don't even know why myself!" The bag you were holding dropped to the ground, before hiding your face in your hands. "Sweets, if you ask me that sounds as if ya're jealous.." Angel's hand softly patting your head now as you raise your head, eyes meeting his. "But.. That would mean.. And he would never reciprocate.." Tears were building up in your eyes, before you knew it Angel pulled you into a comforting hug, softly patting your head. "It's going to be okay sweets." Staying there for a good minute or two, before you calmed down again. What you didn't see was a certain dial eyes watching you, as Angel had his arms around you and your body against his chest.
Deciding to head back to the hotel for now, Angel said he would take you to the restaurant another time. Back at the hotel you for now decided to head back to your room for a little rest. The shopping bag is thrown onto a chair before flopping down on your bed. A sigh leaves your lips. The last few days really weren't the best for you and were slowly wearing you down.
"Say dear, I thought we had a deal of you not touching others~" A radio static voice suddenly sounded through your room, sitting up you looked around frantically, eyes stopping on a dark corner of your room. Red eyes watching you, a shadow figure beside them grinning at you. Before you could know it, your body was pressed to the bed with Alastor on top of you. "W-What do you mean!? Angel was simply comforting me! Besides you were also all over Rosie!" Thrashing around now, as you try to push Alastor off of you, but he was simply too strong for you. "Oh, so you're jealous sweetheart? Was that payback then?" Alastor head was lowered as he whispered those words into your ear making your eyes grow wide. "He was comforting me because I was crying! Which I by the way was because of you!" Staring into your eyes now, Alastor was at a loss for words. You were crying? Because of him on top of that? Before he knew it, he watched your eyes fill with tears again daring to flow over. Now he had fucked up this time.. Again.
"D-Don't cry! Dearest I'm sorry." Scooting off of you now, he sits beside you not really knowing what to do, he never had to deal with someone besides Niffty crying. And Charlie, but that was a different story. Your hands rubbing over your eyes now, trying to get rid of the tears. Before you knew it, the culprit of your tears grabbed your hand, leading it to his head. Alastor wasn't great with words to comfort you, but this was his way of trying to comfort you after screwing up, which you deeply appreciated. Looking up at him now, eyes red from crying, as your hand starts to softly rub over his ears. "I meet up with Rosie to ask her for advice on what to get you as an apology for last time." Pulling out a little box from his coat now, he hands it to you. Sitting up, you take the red box from his hands, opening it slowly. Inside was a gold necklace with a red pendant in a tear shape. "It's beautiful.." You were at a loss for words right now, you didn't think he would get you something like this as an apology. "Let me put it on you dearest, turn around." Moving yourself now that your back is to him, you softly move any hair out of the way so he can put the necklace around your neck. Hand reaching down as you take the pendant between your fingers. "Thank-" Your words were interrupted by a soft kiss being pressed to your neck, but as you turned around, Alastor was gone, and only caught a glimpse of his shadow disappearing. Hand reaching to the place you had felt him kiss. Did you only imagine that? No, he definitely kissed your neck.
The next day you wanted to ask Alastor about it, but he was nowhere to be seen, as if he was avoiding you, which made you a little bit sad. Did he regret it?
Till now you also were not able to accomplish your victory in this little game. Making yourself question if you were ever going to figure out if he had a little deer tail. Turning around now, you caught a glimpse of red hair disappearing, making you dart right after him. So he truly was avoiding you! Before he could close his door, you put your foot between the door and the doorframe. "Open the door, I won't go away!" It took almost a whole minute for him to open the door, entering the room, the door is closed behind you. Crossing your arms in front of your chest now, you turn around to face Alastor now. "Are you avoiding me?" Static radio error. "Of course not dear! Why should I?" He was obviously more than nervous to be talking to you right now. "Oh, I don't know, maybe because since yesterday you've been running away from me and not shown your face once?" Looking at him skeptically now, he tried to look composed as always with his smile, but you noticed how his smile was slightly strained and his hand clenched just a bit tighter around his staff. "If this is about the kiss and you regret it just say it please, I won't be mad at you." Your eyes were avoiding his now. Oh if only you knew it was the complete opposite.
"Listen dear, it's not that.. It's.. How do I say, rather the opposite? I have been feeling rather drawn to you, wanting to get closer but.. I don't quite know how to handle these emotions." For once Alastor looked nervous, something you had never truly seen on him, he seemed so unsure. Holding out your hand, waiting for him to perhaps take it, which he did. Eyes locked on your hands, as he was softly playing with your fingers, slowly linking them together. "Listen it's okay, take as much time as you need to figure this out okay?" A soft smile was on your lips now, trying to reassure and calm him, but it had quite the opposite effect on him.
"May I kiss you?" Blurting those words out without even thinking about it, both of you were staring at each other with blown eyes now. You question yourself if you heard correctly and Alastor questions his sanity by asking you this, was he completely going crazy now? "If you want to, I allow you to do anything you want, I trust you." Now this surprised him, he indeed wanted to try this but.. he had never kissed anyone before. Not while alive, and certainly not while dead. Slowly his hand lays on your cheek as he pulls you closer to him, angling your head so you are looking at him. Your hands softly grab onto the front of his coat, eyes closed to give him full control. Alastor could either take his time or pull away entirely, it was all up to him, you let him go at his own pace.
And before he knew it, he was leaning down to capture your lips in a soft kiss. It felt different than he had imagined, it felt warm and comforting. It was a simple soft peck, nothing too spectacular, but for both of you, it was something special. When he pulled away again and you looked up into his eyes, you noticed movement behind him, your eyes lowering and noticing something moving under the backside of his coat. Eyes glancing with interest now, Alastor's eyes following yours to what you were looking at, a sigh leaving his lips. Before you knew it, Alastor was shrugging his coat off, his shadow hanging it somewhere in the room. And there it was, a fluffy deer tail, that was right now softly swishing from side to side, it was adorable. Alastor was a sight right now. His ears were pointed towards you, a blush over the bridge of his nose while his tail swished from side to side.
Reaching out your hand to touch his tail with sparking eyes, his hand stops yours as he watches you. "Once. It's different than my ears, one pat and that's it darling." Nodding in agreement, he turns around a bit as your hand softly pats over his tail once. It was soft just like his ears. Looking up with a smile now, his head was turned to the front, but his ears were turned to your direction, which looked super adorable. "Well since I was only allowed to pet your tail once, I would like to pat your ears again!" Smiling up at him innocently now, he exactly knew how this would end.
And he was correct, he was now lying on his bed with you, his head on your stomach as you were contentedly playing with his ears. Even though it would probably take a while till both of you knew how to call this relationship, you were more than happy that your one hand was busy patting his ears, and the other one was softly held by the red-haired man. You could get used to this.

Never made it as a wise man
(joel miller x f!reader)
Tumblr media
Description: Joel solves your car troubles for free, and you try to return the favor with a homecooked meal. When you accidentally interrupt his jerkoff session, you take a chance and help him out.
Note: y’all are out here answering god’s toughest questions, like what if emotionally unavailable Joel was loved unconditionally? or what if Joel was the Mothman?, and I deeply appreciate that.
However, today, I am here to answer a question that nobody asked– What if Joel was a divorced dad rock kinda guy?
You know, like, listening to Nickelback on an old-school boombox in his garage, or unironically singing Creed on the way to work, or bonding with Ellie over Papa Roach? And also, (inspired by a genius) what if he was a little bit pathetic?
Anyway, I present to you: divorced dad rock dilf, Joel, ta-da! (my humble submission for @hellishjoel‘s hot dilf summer challenge) obvs dedicated to: @auteurdelabre

You pull onto the long driveway, hoping to see Joel’s truck. You forgot to text first to see if he would be around, but he did tell you to come by if you ever needed anything. You mostly just hope he’ll be willing to accept your gift.
Last week, he’d helped you out by fixing your car. He told you what the issue was, but he might as well have been speaking another language when he described it. You had already brought coffee and a plate of cookies to your coworker Ellie to thank her for dragging you to Joel’s to ask for help. Being in a new town was hard enough, but you had no idea how you would handle the price for diagnostics, let alone whatever the repair would’ve cost. You tried to offer Joel the cash you had as a thanks, but he wouldn’t accept it. You tried to argue with him, but Ellie told you it wasn’t worth arguing with him. He wouldn’t budge. Instead, he had offered to change your oil for you, making you feel even more indebted to him.
At first, the most you got out of Ellie for intel on Joel was that he was the one responsible for you having to listen to “One Last Breath” and “Lips of an Angel” at ungodly early hours. Ellie claimed that her music taste was deeply influenced by Joel, and somehow, Ellie is always in charge of the music at work. When you rolled your eyes calling it divorced dad rock, she let it slip that you were right about that.
That explains a lot when you remember the brief time you spent in his house and shop. The house was clean inside but not tidy. Stray beer bottles and travel mugs dotted the counter and coffee table. But the shop had all the Divorced Dad Barbie accessories.
The project car and crates of assorted parts. The beer fridge and the plastic lawn chairs in the corner for bullshitting with whoever stopped by. The boombox on the workbench with the stack of CDs. And the fading calendar from another decade with the naked woman kneeling on the beach.
You hadn’t been able to stop your eyes from darting to her sultry expression and swimsuit model-perfect breasts when Joel had been explaining what he was going to do to your car. You wondered if the heat burning in your cheeks had given you away, but he didn’t notice then. Ellie sure did, though, and she had rolled her eyes at you, noting it had been up so long she even forgot it was there.
Luckily, Ellie didn’t notice your eyes lingering on Joel’s body. You weren’t trying to be a creep, but the way his arm flexed when he opened the hood of your car gave you some feral brand of intrusive thoughts. The ratty band t-shirt and the faded jeans were working for him, too, or at least they were doing something for you. Time slowed when your eyes trailed over his arms and down the muscles of his broad back. He just seemed so
solid. You finally understood what your friends back home meant when they said they wanted to climb a man like a tree. You had jumped a little when Ellie slammed the fridge behind you and shouted at Joel about how he can’t just live in the shop drinking shitty beer and eating beef jerky. She had grabbed your arm to drag you to the house for an iced tea while he worked.
Her comment sparked your idea. You figured Joel must be a utilitarian type. He probably lives on frozen pizzas–or even worse, those Hungry-Man frozen TV dinners–instead of making himself something fresh. Maybe he’s one of those guys who got really into smoking meats instead. Either way, you hope the lasagna you made from scratch and the other tray of cookies will be an acceptable thank you for his help. He can’t refuse it if you already made it, right?
You pull up next to a truck, assuming it’s his, and that he’s home. Before you grab the tray, you pause to check your reflection and adjust your breasts in your white tank top, making sure your cleavage pokes out as temptingly as possible.
You check yourself in the mirror with a look. Why does it matter what you look like? It’s not like you’re trying to fuck your only (almost) friend’s dad, right? Although she calls him by his first name, not Dad, so maybe there’s like a loophole or something if she’s adopted. You think about the calendar model and her perfect tits hanging on the wall over his tools. It can’t hurt to just do a little harmless flirting, right? Maybe you aren’t even his type anyway.
After knocking on the door a couple of times, you frown, wondering if he’s not home. On the way back to your car, with your head hung in defeat, your ears perk up at the sound of something clanging in the shop. Of course!
You skitter back to the front porch to leave your goods by the door and head for the shop to find that divorced DILF–Joel, you mean. It’s sweltering out, and sweat is beading on your chest after only a few minutes in the heat. The closer you get, the more easily you can make out the sound of his little CD player blasting another brooding, raspy ballad sung by a white man with a troubled love life.
The garage door is shut, so you knock on the door on the side of the building. You wait a minute before testing your luck and opening the door yourself. Assessing the shop, you don’t see your man, sorry, Joel, at first glance. The music blasts, and the calendar model gives you the same impish smirk through her false lashes and a layer of dust, but there’s no Joel. The evidence clearly dictates that he’s in here somewhere, as his tools are strung around his project, the lights are on, and a beer with a sweating label sits on the edge of the workbench.
You aren’t trying to be sneaky. You didn’t think to holler and announce your presence over the music. Plus, you didn’t fully get your bearings the last time you were here. Now, you can pick up a few more details as your eyes absorb everything they can about anything that gives you a hint about who this guy is.
The guy that’s been haunting your dreams for a week. Last week, when you walked back to the shop with Ellie to check on your car, you nearly tripped, watching Joel wipe the sweat off his face with the bottom of his shirt. You had just caught a glimpse of the trail of hair disappearing under his jeans, but it was enough to replay in your mind every night as you created your little scenarios to carry you off to sleep.
The scent memory was somehow worse. It was so easy to transport yourself back in time with the thought of the sweaty musk and the grease or oil smeared on his fingers. It shouldn’t turn you on, right?
You remember thinking he seemed so knowledgeable when describing the issue. You had no idea what he was talking about, but his low voice and patience were enough to tell you he could talk you through anything.
You notice a few other details as you enter his sacred space today. The woodworking projects, the band posters, and the pictures with Ellie and other family members tacked to the wall over another workbench.
Still, no Joel, however.
You circle the partially disassembled project truck and see a door to another room. It would be the office if the shop were a professional business. There’s a window along the wall, but instead of a boss watching an employee, it’s you hoping to see that brawny man and his dark curls.
As you step closer, you nearly squeal. There he is. Well, at least, you can see the broad shoulders and back you’ve been picturing above you in bed. You practically skip to the door. It’s already open a crack, and you give it a knock, calling his name as it swings open from the force of your rapping knuckles.
The next moment is a blur.
“Shit, fuck, hold on!” Joel shouts gruffly as he slams the door in your face. But you already heard it. The phony wailing noises that came from the busted speaker on his phone.
You still face the closed door, trying to process the interaction before he wrenches the door back open. He’s breathing rapidly, chest rising and falling, as he looks at you with wide eyes that quickly narrow.
“What are you doing here?” he barks.
Your hands fall to your sides, and you start to step back, ready to turn and run.
He catches your fear and tries to adjust, but you’re faster.
“Sorry,” you mumble as you turn and try to dash away. Joel’s quick, too, though, and he grabs your wrist.
“Hey, wait,” he loosens his grip when you spin back towards him, “I just didn’t hear you comin’. Wasn’t expecting you.”
“Sorry,” you repeat, stuttering as you continue, “I-I just, uh, just wanted to say thanks for your help last week.” You stare at the floor. Unsure why you’re embarrassed, you feel so small after he saw your face and practically shouted at you.
“All right,” he rumbles. You’re too busy staring at the crack in the concrete floor to notice how his eyes are glued to your exposed skin. Or to see the blotchy red flush that crawls up his neck and toward his face.
But your brain starts to catch up. Joel might’ve snapped at you, but you’re the one that caught him in the act. You don’t lift your head, but your eyes trail over his stained and faded jeans until you’re studying his crotch.
Bingo. It’s almost too easy. You can make out the outline of his erection tucked up in his waistband. Even more glaring evidence is the open fly. You wish you had caught what he was watching. How does he like it? What does he search for when he wants to jerk off in the back office on a hot Saturday afternoon?
He clears his throat, and you snap your attention to his face. “Was there somethin’ you needed?” He asks.
“Yes.” You tell him you’ve got a lasagna that should get into a fridge before it reheats in the sun. He follows you toward the front door and into the house, not missing how your hips sway as you lead.
Once the tray is shoved into the fridge, nestled between some takeout containers, he turns to thank you. “You didn’t need to do all that,” he gruffs over the cookies and homemade meal.
You step back to lean against the counter, littered with mail and more coffee cups, and let yourself check him out up close. His faded Creed t-shirt has holes around the neck. He’s got that same sweaty man musk going on, and you wish you knew why that stirred your arousal, but your pussy lacks logic.
“I know, I know,” you reply, “but you really saved my ass with the car, and I wanted to do something for you. You know, some way to pay you back?”
“All right, well, thanks,” he trails off. He doesn’t seem to know what else to say. Maybe you should be on your way already, but he’s not ushering you out the door.
This time, you do catch when his eyes drop to your chest. There’s no way you’re imagining the tension between you as you stand in his kitchen while he stares at your barely clothed tits, right? Fuck it. You’re gonna go for it.
You take a step towards him. “I wasn’t sure if it was really enough,” your voice is soft and tempting, and your sweet perfume wafts towards him like a lust potion. Joel swallows thickly as you approach.
He knows you must’ve put it together, but he tried to delude himself. Maybe you couldn’t hear the theatrical screams of the woman he was watching get railed before he slammed the door in your face. He hopes all you heard was Chad Kroeger’s voice screaming, “This time I'm mistaken
For handin' you a heart worth breakin'” from the stereo.. on the other side of the shop.
“You worked so hard,” you continued with one final step, and now you’re nearly toe-to-toe in front of him. “There has to be something else I could do.” You’re so close to him. He forgets to respond. It takes all his power to keep his eyes on your face.
You have a wild urge to taste the sweat on his neck, but you keep your tongue to yourself. He hasn’t made any move to encourage you, but he hasn’t stopped you yet either, so you figure it’s worth taking a risk.
“Maybe you’ve got a problem I could help you with.” You go for it, reaching your hand out to palm at the bulge in his jeans.
Again, too many things happen at once. Joel snaps out a “What?” in disbelief. His hand circles your wrist tightly. His hips jerk, involuntarily bucking into your palm. Your glossy lips part into an “o” shape at the size of his not-quite-hard cock. And now you’re both locked into this position like statues.
His fingers stay firmly wrapped around your wrist, but he doesn’t pull you away. Your fingers squeeze over his jeans, and your eyes flash wide as you can feel his cock twitch and stiffen at your touch. The touch that rapidly overrides your better judgment, drowning you in want. Your clit twitches itself in response, your nipples strain under your thin tank top, and your eyelids feel heavy immediately.
“What are you doing?” His voice crackles like he hadn’t just used it. You slide your hand to pop the button on his jeans, and he releases your wrist as you flip it to slip your fingers under the waistband of his boxers in search of his cock.
“Let me help,” you say in more of a whispered tone. The searing heat between Joel’s legs makes you salivate. Your fingers graze coarse curls before you acquire your target, wrapping your palm and fingers around his thick shaft. His size has your cunt throbbing in your shorts.
Joel’s eyes are squeezed shut. He looks nearly in pain. You pull your hand back out to let the pool of saliva on your tongue drip into your palm.
“Jesus,” he breathes out, watching your lewd maneuver. “You wanna help?” He repeats your plea in the form of a question, a little dumbfounded. He’s trying to figure out what’s happening right now.
“I do,” you answer in a honeyed voice as you dig your hand back into his pants. He’s unable to respond with words as you swirl your palm over the head of his cock, mixing saliva and precome, but his body eggs you on. He bucks into your fist, and you work quickly, pumping his throbbing length. The slick noises are muffled by the layers of clothing, but the grunts that catch in his throat shoot piping-hot desire straight into your core.
He looks a little desperate, eyes slammed shut again, jaw slack, arms hanging uselessly at his side. And for god knows why, the entire scene pulls a moan from your lips. The sweet sound snaps Joel back to attention. His hands shoot straight to your breasts, cupping them gently to feel them bounce against the motion of your arm wrestling with his jeans to keep stroking his cock.
They’re so close to spilling over your tank top on their own. Joel can’t resist tugging the thin material until they spill over the top. The sight alone nearly has him coming in his pants. But then you moan so loudly when he squeezes them both and pinches at your nipples, and he really can’t stop.
“Fuck, fuck, wait,” he spits out, but it’s too late. His hips jerk erratically, thrusting into your slick fist, and he’s coming. It coats your hand and wrist and makes an absolute mess.  You relax your grip when his whole body seems to shudder and gently remove your hand. He tries to choke his groan of frustration before it surfaces, but he immediately pauses his shame spiral when he sees you suck your come-coated fingers one by one.
“God, that’s so fucking hot,” you tell him. At the same time, he’s muttering curses at the sight of you. You’re feeling a little giddy that all it took was your hand and showing your tits to have Joel losing control and spilling his load for you. It has your mouth curling into an impish grin.
He’s got the sight of you half topless in his kitchen, licking your fingers, looking awfully proud of yourself, etching into his memory. Before the blood can return to his brain, he grabs you tightly by the ribs and walks you backward towards the counter. He lifts you onto it and wrenches open your shorts, yanking at them as you lift your hips so he can slide them off of you and drop them onto the kitchen floor.
Yes! Yes! Yes! The horny little goblins in your brain shriek and chant, incited by the rough and impulsive way Joel gropes at you. It’s barbaric, and that delights you.
Sitting on the counter, you give him such perfect access to put his mouth on your breasts that he forgets what he was going to say. He mouths at each of them wetly, his beard tickling you as he’s busy sucking marks into your delicate skin. He sucks and bites at your strained nipples until your loud whines turn into a sharp gasp, and he pulls back.
The heavy-lidded look on your face has him diving back in for more, and you groan and arch into his touch. You rake your fingers into the curls at the back of his neck and tug at him. He grunts and moans into your skin, and it drives you wild. You need to feel him closer.
You grab the worn cotton on his shoulders until he lets you slip the shirt over his head and drop it onto the counter next to you. It gives you the briefest moment to take in the sight of his built chest and shoulders and softer midsection with that trail of hair you had memorized. You need to taste the salt on his skin.
Spreading your legs wider, he slots his hips against yours at the edge of the counter, and you run your tongue along his neck. You slide one of your hands down the smooth golden skin of his shoulder, and the other nestles back in his messy curls as his mouth finds yours.
He tastes like cheap coffee and the peppermint nicotine gum parked above his teeth along the left side of his mouth. You know it’s wrong that you can’t get enough. But you're helpless when he pulls your bottom lip between his teeth, and you mindlessly roll your hips, seeking any relief.
He’s grumbling in your ear about how it seems like you need help now, but you couldn’t care less about the words coming out of his mouth. His deep voice alone could get you off. You let out an uninhibited whine at the thought.
“Jesus Christ,” he pulls back. His head hangs, staring at the floor. He shakes it in what you assume is disbelief. You don’t want to wait for him to think any further. You grab his hand, pulling it between your legs.
“Really, fucking, hot.” You echo your earlier declaration. Doing your best to sound assertive. You figure at least your soaked panties will prove your point.
“Fuck,” he stifles a groan. You’re so wet it coats his fingertips through the thin material. He nudges his fingers into you, over your panties, and you whimper for him. The fabric sticks to you and makes an obscene sound as he toys with you for only seconds. “Oh, you do need my help. Hm?”
You nod, spreading your legs wider for Joel to have access. He scoffs at you, displayed eagerly atop his kitchen counter. “Just desperate for me, aren’t ya?”
You snap your legs back shut with a glare.
“No way,” you press, jabbing a finger into his chest, “you don’t get to laugh at me like I’m a slut for you when you just came in your pants for me.”
His nostrils flare, and blotchy red patches creep up his neck again. You aren’t sure what kind of bear you’ve just, quite literally, poked.
“But you are, aren’t you?” He challenges. “You came all this way in this excuse for a shirt, just for me.”
He wedges his hand back between your closed thighs, and you relax just enough to let him work his way back to your core. Your breathing gives you away when it hitches and stutters as he traces his fingers along the hem of the fabric between your legs. You let your legs fall a little wider apart, and he sinks a finger beneath the hem and right inside of you to the knuckle.
A whiny noise rolls in the back of your throat.
“Shh,” he sinks a second finger inside of you, and your muscles spasm and contract, “that’s better, hmm?” He slowly pulls his fingers almost all the way out and then plunges them back in. He repeats this, and your core tenses as you writhe for him.
“You need more?”
“Yes.”
“Yeah, you do.” He adds a third finger, and the slight stretch makes you hum.
“You just need to be filled up, hm?” He teases you. Awfully confident now for a guy you just caught watching porn on his phone in a grimy back office in the middle of the afternoon.
But your noises and impatient movements spur him on. His sticky cock is filling out his jeans again. He nearly drools at the thought of the wet walls of your cunt, currently wrapped around his fingers, sliding over his cock instead. He knows you want it, too.
“Don’t you?” He asks like you could read his mind.
“Hm?” You hum absently. Empty headed. You’re still taken by the entire pulpy, messy scene.
Reveling in the vulnerability of being spread open on his cluttered counter as you’re both half-dressed and panting in the other’s hot breath. Any semblance of the lightness of your mood is quickly replaced with a blinding need. His fingers work into you, making obscene sounds, and then you add your own fingers. Circling your swollen clit just as he lets you in on his vision.
“You wanna bounce on my lap. Fill this pussy with my cock.”
“Yes,” you hiss as you hover at the edge.
“Yeah, that’s it,” he watches your fingers working deftly over your swollen clit. The encouragement tips you over. Your body jolts erratically as you contract around his fingers, and bright sparks of pleasure course through you.
“Yeah, you’re gonna ride me like fuckin’ champ,” he decides. You pull at his wrist when you start to feel overwhelmed, and he slides his wet fingers over your soft inner thigh. He’s ready to grab you and carry you to the couch when both of your heads snap to attention at the sound of a door slamming in the driveway.
“Shit,” he grumbles, looking for the clock on the stove before he remembers it’s definitely not set to the right time. You move nimbly, shimmying into your shorts, snapping your straps back over your shoulder, and brushing your hair out of your face.
“Hey, wait,” he calls for you, but you’re on the move.
“Let me know when I can pick up the baking dish,” you call over your shoulder. Luckily, Joel’s next guest seemed to know him better. They were off to search the shop first, so you didn’t collide with anyone before you got to your car. Joel stayed locked in the kitchen, catching his breath while you started to pull away. He didn’t see that you stole his dirty Creed shirt off the counter before you skipped out the door.
When you grab it later to wear to bed, a naughty little smile tugs at the corners of your lips. When you pull the worn fabric to your nose to inhale deeply, you wonder if it’s one of those weird pheromone matches or something because you’re sure the sweaty man musk should be wrinkling your nose.
Instead, it makes you think of his big arms and chest filling out the shirt. And how his shoulder and back muscles ripple under his sun-bronzed skin. What they’d look like coated in a sheen of salty sweat as he railed you, bent over his workbench, under the watchful eye of the calendar model and her flirty smize.
The image has you interrupting your own scenarios-before-bed time. Maybe Joel needs a model from this decade. You giggle, bunching up the t-shirt to snap a tasteful shot of some underboob cleavage, with the faded Creed logo on full display.
You send it off with no context, figuring it’s self-explanatory. It’s less than a minute before your phone buzzes, and you feel the intoxicating rush rip through your body before you pick it up to see just the heading on your lockscreen:
Joel

stealing rafe's clothes was always fun, because every single time you did it—he would give you this look.
it was this sideways look that made you stop what you were doing and then smile back at him that sugary sweet way before dragging a manicured finger up his chest.
not to mention it helped your attachment issues as if you had a small piece of him with you at all times. it was his calming scent that made you feel better as you wore it. sometimes your boyfriend was busy, well, he was busy most of the time. stealing his clothes was a short-term remedy.
it started small first, sweaters that were fluffy and a bit torn at the sides. the first time you wore his sweatshirt, rafe had smiled flicking at the little bits that were falling apart. he had just woken up, so he was extra nice with soft-mussed hair looking like a little boy. there was this wistful look on his face as he kissed you softly on the lips before heading up to clean up.
that was the green light, and before you knew it you were taking polo shirts. he had too many, and the pink one that he had lying around looked way too cute. then it went to ties, because, why not? they looked good with your outfits, and sometimes when you wore a jean skirt, pairing it with red lipstick and a tie made a juxtaposition that always made you smile.
and then came the comfortable stuff.
this was where he got extra annoyed, sweatpants and boxers. they were nice and he barely wore his sweatpants. to be frank, the last time you had mentioned sweatpants to rafe, he had given you this crazy look. because apparently anyone who wears "sweatpants," is letting loose. so he wasn't going to miss anything.
so you couldn't help yourself as you put on a polo shirt before heading over to the kitchen, and a mini skirt. the shirt was a bit big, but you didn't mind because it smelt like him. honestly, you didn't think that rafe would have a problem with it. today was the day that rafe had decided you could come golfing with him, and some of his buddies. the shirt was a bit big on you
rafe was settling up a deal, and you could hear him argue on the phone. as always he looked recklessly handsome, hand on the phone before giving you a tightlipped smile. he was drinking one of those disgusting protein shakes as you sat down next to him.
you smiled back at him, before starting to fix yourself some cereal. in a few minutes, you found rafe looking at your outfit with a scrutinising look, coffee cup in hand before taking a sip.
"what's up?" you murmured, not noticing the look that he was giving you.
"nothing really." but you could hear an air of haughtiness in his voice as you ate your cereal.
then you looked up at him. just as you thought, there was this slight annoyance in his eyes as he looked you up and down. you put down your spoon before cocking your head.
"uh huh? you sure? you're giving me that weird look."
rafe pursed his lips, murmuring something under his breath. you folded your hands, biting your lip. your insecurity reared its ugly head.
"what was that?"
rafe looked back at you with a faux confused look, "nah, nah don't worry about it, but you might wanna change."
"why would that be?"
rafe looked shocked at your quick refusal. usually, you weren't this outright disrespectful to him, denying him what he wanted. most of the time you would peck him on the cheek before agreeing.
"you seem extra chipper this morning," rafe muttered, looking away from you before taking a sip of his coffee.
"rafe, why would i need to change?"
rafe sighed, putting his mug down while rubbing his head. "jesus kid, i don't really need this right now. you're wearing my clothes. the guys have seen me in that exact polo last week."
"so what? what, you think they'll remember the polo on you, last week?"
"are we seriously fighting over this?"
"well, apparently we are," you bit back, looking away from him. your heart ached whenever you fought with rafe, and you were holding back the tears. finally rafe looked at you again, his blue eye softer.
"shit, listen," he muttered, placing a hand on your shoulder. his gentle tone made you putty in his hands barely hearing his harsh words, "don't make it a big deal but i don't know—i've gotten you so much useless shit. last night we got those mary jane shoes and i feel like you stealing my shit makes me look bad."
finally you stilled, pouting, before looking down. you never wanted to make rafe look bad, and you especially didn't want to be infront of his bosses and friends.
"i know, but wearing it makes you feel close," you squeaked out, rubbing your hands to make yourself seem smaller. at this, he placed his hands in yours, a slightly confused look on his face before he gently lifted your chin to look at him properly.
"don't do that sweets, keep your pretty eyes on me," he mused, and then dragged you closer to his chest, and you could practically hear the drum of his heart, and the rumble of his voice, "i'm always close."
"yeah i know."
you didn't really want to talk about it. not today.
rafe seemed to sense that and then gave you a tentative smile. he pinched your cheek before whispering into your ear.
"hmm, how about you give me a kiss?"
you couldn't help but sigh, as you leaned closer to peck his lips. rafe was softer than usual, and you couldn't help but taste the coffee on his tongue, and the way that his hands were placed in a tight grip of your waist. you leaned against him before looking at him again with wide eyes.
"so i can wear this?" you asked hopefully.
"hell no," he groaned, "c'mon wear one of those cute outfits you got last week. and if this is about being close, i'll hold your hand the whole outing."
"alright...but you don't mind?"
"why would i, when i got my pretty girl by my side?"
⋅˚₊‧ àšà§ ‧₊˚ ⋅
bonus
"hey man, you can let her go. she's not going to fly away," his coworker laughed, wiping his head with a towel while leaning on his golf club. the comment was aimed at the fact that you had been holding rafe's hand the whole time the two of you had been there.
he had kept the promise.
the whole trip rafe had held your hand, softly grazing your hand while smiling at you reassuringly whenever you seemed to get self-conscious. he was kinder today, holding you gently as he helped you get off the golf cart. he may have been extra nice, but you swore whenever you saw that same crazy rear in him when his business buddy made that joke.
rafe fixed a glare at his buddy. you looked oblivious, still threading your hand in his. you pointed at the ball and how far it had gone. there was sweet happiness in your voice, as your eyes creased with joy. rafe couldn't help but bite his cheek to stop himself from laughing at your innocence. you seemed to make life so much brighter for him.
"look at it rafe! look at how far it went...maybe i can do this more often. do you think i have a knack for it?"
rafe nodded, giving you a smile before glaring at his buddy who was now laughing, "i think you can do anything, baby."
he tried to ignore the guy practically cackling in the corner, as you smiled at you sweetly.
shit, he was pussywhipped.

Being constantly surrounded by hundreds of people and the double amount of cameras was not something you liked, but it’s something you had to put up with given the amount of attention your boyfriend got; it was something you have learnt to deal with. Not that you were fully used to it now, but at least it didn’t make you as anxious as it used to when you first started dating.
At least now you found something that helped you get your mind off the intense atmosphere that surrounded you during race weeks: making friendship bracelets. You made a few when you went to see Taylor Swift in concert late last year, and it stuck with you since then.
You travelled with all the materials you needed: colourful beads and cotton threads, tape, scissors — the whole deal. It wasn’t like you made an insane amount of bracelets every time you accompanied Lando to a race, but if you were bored or overwhelmed, you knew you had something to do.
Today was one of those days; Lando was specially busy today, and given your shy and quiet personality, you didn’t know that many people around, so you decided to lock yourself in Lando’s drivers room and get to it, carefully picking the letters and colours you would use.
Lando hated to leave you alone. He was aware of the many things he had to do, but he didn’t expect them to take that long, so as soon as he got a little bit of free time to catch lunch, he went looking for you.
“Hey,” he greeted one of the mechanics.
“Hi mate, how is it going?”
“All good, thanks. It’s a bit hot outside but still nice.”
“And yet, you are wearing a hoodie.” He teased him.
Lando let out a laugh, well aware of his reputation. "Well, I still have to keep it in style, don’t I?”
“You do, we know.”
“Anyway, have you seen Y/N?”
“She must be in your room. I haven’t seen her since the two of you got here this morning.”
He smiled, knowing exactly what you were up to if you hadn’t left the small space all day. “Thanks.”
Lando made his way to his room, carefully knocking on the door before coming in. He didn’t want to scare you and make you drop all your beads, which has happened more times than he would like to admit.
“Come in,” he heard you yell from inside.
He opened the door and gave you the sweetest smile you have ever seen. “Hey, I’m back.”
“Hey, what took you so long?” You dropped everything you were doing to direct your attention at him.
“Sorry, I didn’t know we would have to be there all morning, but I’m back for lunch.”
“It’s okay, and thank God, I’m starving.” You took a piece of tape to hold your bracelet in place and started to get up.
“What are you making here?” He asked you as he got closer to the small table, analysing what you had on display as the bright-coloured beads caught his eye.
“No, it’s a surprise.” You responded, quickly hiding your unfinished creation with your hands.
“A surprise you say?” He came behind you to wrap his arms around you, softly kissing your head.
You melted into his embrace and hummed in response, using one of your bags to hide it instead so you could hug your boyfriend back. “You can’t see it until you win this race.”
“Mhm, I see. What if I don’t win? When do I get to see it?” He questioned, not wanting to jinx his weekend, but he was still curious.
“The next race you win.” You said this as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.
“Got it. In that case, I’m gonna have to win this race.” He grabbed your hips to turn you around, kissing you on the lips once you were facing him.
You went to eat your lunch together as you normally did, enjoying each other’s company as you talked about anything you could come up with. Before you knew it, he had to go back to his duties, and even though you tried hard to act normal about being left alone so he wouldn’t feel guilty, he still noticed. He knew you better than you knew yourself, anyway.
“You can come with me if you want, that way you don’t have to be alone.”
“No, it’s okay. I know there are millions of people and cameras when you do these things."
He couldn’t help but feel guilty; he knew you were there to support him, so he hated to be apart from you when you did. “I’m sorry, love. I know you don’t feel comfortable when there are a lot of people around. You know you don’t have to be here if you don’t want to, you could always stay home.”
“If you don’t want me to come, just say that,” you joked.
“No, it’s not that,” Lando replied immediately. “I do want you here, I always do, but I hate that you feel like you have to hide.”
“Lan, I’m not hiding. Sure, I do prefer to stay inside, but it’s not because I want to hide from the world. Besides, that’s why I always bring something to entertain myself with. I’ll be fine, I promise,” you reassure him.
“Okay,” he nods, smiling at you. “But if you want to go back to the hotel, that’s okay.”
The rest of the weekend went on a lot quicker, even though he was just as busy. Qualifying and race days were a lot less boring since you got to see the cars from the garage, enjoying the full wag experience.
As the race went on, you couldn’t help but feel anxious and excited at the same time. Lando started from pole (which made you assure him the night before he would get to see the bracelet after the race), but you still had the need to crack your fingers every once in a while. There were only a few laps left, and he had led the entire race so far, and with the gap becoming bigger, you couldn’t contain your excitement.
Once he finally crossed that finish line with a 21-second margin, everyone in the garage cheered and jumped, celebrating Lando’s achievement. A lot of people gathered outside to see him get off the car and celebrate his third win himself, shouting his name and patting him in the helmet to congratulate him.
When it was time for the podium, you decided to go get the finished bracelet you kept in your purse and held it close to your heart, feeling extremely proud of Lando for the amazing race he just had. You couldn't stop the few tears that left your eyes; it made you so happy to see him accomplish his dreams.
The whole thing was finally over, and you waited for him right there so you could finally express how proud of him you were.
“Congrats, baby,” you said, hugging him as if you hadn’t seen him in months. “You did amazing.”
“Thank you.” Lando couldn’t erase the big smile off his face as he hugged you back.
“That’s a cool trophy you got back there.”
“Yeah, I don’t really care about that.” He said, puling away and looking down at you.
“You don’t?” You asked confused.
“No, I’m still waiting for my real reward.”
“Oh
we can go back to the hotel-”
“No!” He interrupted you, laughing loudly at the fact that your mind went there. “I mean my bracelet, didn’t you say I would get it if I won this race? Well, I did, and now I’m claiming it.”
You laughed, your cheeks burning a bit from embarrassment. “Right, uh- it’s not that great compared to your trophy.”
“I’m sure it’s better than any trophy I could ever get.”
Man, he really knew how to be the sweetest boyfriend in the entire world. You pulled the bracelet out of your pocket, hiding it in your fist before dropping it in his hands.
The colours were the first thing that caught his attention. Fluoro green and black beads. He inspected these first, until he got to the little letters that read ‘MY WINNER’. He almost couldn’t contain his tears; he was so endeared by you and how much you supported his passion.
“I love it,” he whispered, lifting you up and kissing you emotionally before putting you back down and sliding the bracelet in his wrist, admiring the way it looked there. “Thank you.”
“See? I told you you would get to see it today.”
“It must be a lucky bracelet, then. I’m never taking it off.”
You giggled at this, loving how Lando reacted to the bracelet you made with much love, but you still thought he was just messing with you. “You must be tired.” You teased him.
“Mhm. Now, about my other reward-”
“Oh my God.” You rolled your eyes as you let out a loud laugh, holding his hand as you made your way to the car.

LOOKIN' LIKE MOTIVATION - hockey!r.c (+18)

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rafe’s day started the same way it had for the last two months: with a groan of pain that shot up from his knee and settled into his mood like a stubborn storm cloud.
He hated physical therapy, but what he hated more was sitting on the sidelines, watching his teammates on the ice while he was stuck on a cushioned table with resistance bands and an overenthusiastic sports medic, with hair pulled into a no-nonsense ponytail and a pair of blue scrubs that somehow still looked cute on you.
At least that was what he thought when he first met you.
But two weeks in, his hatred had morphed into something else entirely, something way more complicated. He wasn’t sure when it happened—maybe when he caught you singing quietly along with the radio while taping up his knee, or when you’d given him that first, honest-to-God smile that wasn’t out of politeness but genuine amusement at some stupid joke he’d made.
And he made a lot of those.
Now, sitting on that same damn table, Rafe found himself looking forward to PT in a way that had nothing to do with his injury.
You walked in, clipboard in hand, looking as professional as always. It was kind of cute, the way you tried so hard to keep things strictly professional between the two of you.
Rafe knew he got under your skin—hell, he made sure of it. He could tell by the way your eyes flicked up to meet his for just a second longer than necessary before you quickly looked away. You tried to be cool, but he knew better.
“Alright, Cameron. How’s the knee today?”
He put on his best wounded-puppy face. “Terrible. I might never skate again.”
“Shut up.”
“And I could be better,” Rafe drawled, his lips curling into that signature smirk. “But seeing you always helps.”
You rolled your eyes, but he saw the faintest hint of a smile tugging at the corner of your mouth.
“You say that every time.”
“And I mean it every time,” he shot back, winking at you.
You tried to ignore him, busying yourself with adjusting the equipment. “Let’s focus on your knee, alright?”
“Whatever you say, Doc,” Rafe said, stretching out on the table with a lazy grin.
You rolled your eyes, but the corners of your mouth twitched up. “We’ve got to work on your pain tolerance.”
He couldn’t resist. “If I didn’t know any better, I’d say you were trying to keep me on my toes.”
Finally, you looked up, your expression deadpan.
“And if I didn’t know any better, I’d say you were trying to avoid actually doing your therapy, Cameron.”
Touché.
He liked the way you said his name—like you were in control, like you were the one calling the shots.
It was refreshing.
The first few minutes of the session passed in relative silence as you guided him through the exercises, your hands expertly working his injured knee. Rafe winced, but it wasn’t all from the pain.
It was from trying to resist the need to say something that might actually cross the line.
But resisting wasn’t really his style.
“So, what’s your boyfriend up to this weekend?” Rafe asked, his voice casual, but his eyes keen, watching your reaction.
You weren’t the kind of girl to fall for a player, especially one with a reputation like Rafe’s.
Besides, you were already with someone. Logan—the clean-cut, dependable defenseman from a rival school. You’d been together for over a year, and things were great.
You looked up at him, a little caught off guard.
“Out of town.”
Rafe snorted, unable to help himself. “Figures.”
You frowned, straightening up to give him a look. That look. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
He shrugged, feigning innocence. “Nothing.”
“He’s busy,” you said defensively.
“Too busy for you?” he pushed, his tone dripping with faux concern. “That’s a shame. If you were mine, I’d make time.”
You gave him an unimpressed look, “I’m sure you would.”
“You don’t think I would?”
“I think you’ve already got your hands full with the cheerleading team.”
He liked to pretend you sounded jealous and not critical.
Rafe chuckled, the sound low and rumbling in his chest. “Cheerleaders are fun and all, but they’re not really my type.”
Okay, that was half a lie, but in his defense, he hadn’t slept with anyone on the cheer squad since sophomore year in college.
You raised an eyebrow, feigning disinterest as you adjusted the strap on his knee brace. “And what exactly is your type, Cameron?”
He leaned in slightly, his voice dropping to a flirtatious whisper. “Complicated. Smart. Gorgeous.”
You didn’t miss a beat, even as your pulse quickened. “So, basically the opposite of you?”
He grinned, like a stupidly in love sick puppy, unbothered by the jab. “Maybe that’s why I like you so much.”
You shook your head, trying to hide the smile threatening to break through. “You’re relentless, you know that?”
“Only when it comes to you,” he replied smoothly, his eyes locked on yours.
There was no denying the chemistry, no matter how hard you tried to ignore it. But you were with someone else, someone who, despite his flaws, you cared about.
Still, Rafe made it hard to remember why you were trying to resist in the first place.
“Rafe, we really should focus on your PT,” you chastised, trying to steer the conversation back to safer territory.
“Trust me, m’focusing,” he replied, his tone suggesting he wasn’t talking about his knee.
You rolled your eyes, standing up straighter to put some distance between you.
“Right. Well, you need to focus on this next exercise. We’re going to work on your range of motion.”
He sighed dramatically but didn’t argue, watching you with a lazy smile as you moved to demonstrate the exercise.
He couldn’t help but admire the way you carried yourself—confident, knowledgeable, and completely fucking beautiful.
It was a challenge, and Rafe Cameron loved a challenge.
As you guided his leg through the motion, your hands firm but gentle, he couldn’t resist pushing a little more. “You know, you never answered my question.”
“What question?” you asked, though you had a feeling you knew where this was going.
“What you’re doing this weekend.”
You glanced away, focusing on the movement of his knee, your fingers brushing against his skin as you adjusted the angle. “I’ll probably just catch up on some work. Maybe relax.”
“Sounds boring,” Rafe remarked, then adding most absolute out of pocket suggestion. “You should let me take you out.”
You looked up sharply, caught off guard by his directness. “Rafe, I’m—”
“Taken, I know,” he interrupted, biting his tongue not to add the unfortunately’. “But that doesn’t mean you can’t have a little fun, does it? Just as friends.”
“Just as friends?” you echoed skeptically, knowing full well what his idea of ‘just friends’ probably entailed.
Rafe shrugged, a smirk playing on his lips. “We could get dinner, maybe hit up a bar, talk about something other than my knee for once. It doesn’t have to be a big deal.”
“No.”
His smirk faltered, just for a second, before it came back stronger, more determined. He leaned back on the table, pretending to stretch as he tried to ignore how much your rejection hurt his feelings.
"No?" he echoed, as if the concept was foreign to him.
You crossed your arms, standing straighter. "No. We both know what you're trying to do, and it's not going to happen."
"And what exactly am I trying to do?" he asked, feigning innocence with a earth shattering smirk that told you he knew exactly what he was doing.
You rolled your eyes, refusing to get drawn into his game. "You know what. I’m here to help you with your injury, not to entertain whatever fantasy you’ve got going on."
"Who says it’s a fantasy?" he shot back, his voice lowering, taking on a more serious tone that caught you off guard. "Maybe I just want to get to know you better."
You paused, searching his face for any sign of sincerity. But he was hard to read when he wanted to be. "Rafe, you're a good guy, but—"
"Good guy?" he interrupted, raising an eyebrow. "I don’t think I’ve ever heard someone describe me like that."
"Fine," you conceded with a small smile. "Maybe ‘good’ is a stretch. But you’re not as bad as you want people to think."
Rafe’s smirk faded. It was a rare moment of vulnerability, and it made you hesitate, made you wonder if there was more to him than just the cocky, relentless flirt.
But before you could dwell on it, he was back to his usual self, flashing you that devil-may-care grin that made it hard to stay mad at him. "You know, I’d actually take that as a compliment if it came from anyone else."
"Don’t get too excited," you replied, trying to keep things light. "I still think you’re a pain in the ass."
"Yeah, but I’m your pain in the ass," he teased, stupidly blinking his lashes up at you.
You shook your head, unable to stop the laugh that bubbled up. "You really don’t give up, do you?"
"Not when it comes to something I want," he said, his voice dropping an octave.
"Cameron, this isn’t going to happen. I have a boyfriend."
He shrugged, unbothered. "And? You’re no fun. You’re trying to kill me, aren’t you?”
You handed him a water bottle, expression neutral. “You’re just out of shape.”
“Out of shape?” He looked at her, incredulous. “Do you see this body?”
You didn’t take the bait. “I see a guy who’s been slacking off on his conditioning.”
He laughed, low and warm, as he took a sip of water. “You’re tough. Tougher than most of the coaches I’ve had.”
You shrugged, as if it was no big deal. “Someone has to keep you in line.”
 “Logan’s a lucky guy.”
The hockey world was small, and word got around, of course he knew his name.
“Logan’s great,” you said, a little too quickly.
Rafe nodded, his expression unreadable. “Yeah, I’m sure he is.”
He didn’t push it further, though. Instead, he fell back into his usual routine of teasing and flirting.
Every time you guided his leg through a stretch or adjusted the equipment, he found his mind wandering, imagining what it would be like if things were different. If he were the one you were coming home to after a long day, if he were the one you smiled at without that guarded look in your eyes.
But you were with Logan, and as much as he hated to admit it, Rafe wasn’t the kind of guy to cross that line. Not when you were clearly trying so hard to keep things professional between the two of you.
As the session wrapped up, you handed him his schedule for the next few days, “I’ll see you on Thursday. Make sure you keep up with the exercises over the next couple of days, and don’t overdo it.”
He took the paper from your hands, his fingers brushing against yours for the briefest of moments.
“Yeah, yeah, I’ll be good,” he muttered, more to himself than to you.
“Try to stay out of trouble, okay?”
 “Can’t make any promises.”
He spent the weekend bored out of his mind, thinking about you—wondering if you were with Logan, if the guy was actually smart enough to know what he had.
He hated Logan more than he hated the pain in his knee.
The guy was too perfect, too dependable, too fucking boring. And he had been praying, in a way he wouldn’t admit to anyone, that something would happen—something that would make you see Logan for the jackass he really was. It wasn’t that he thought he was a better guy; he knew his own flaws better than anyone. But he also knew that he could make you happier, make you laugh harder, make you feel things that Logan never could.
So when you walked in late to the next session, he was ready to make a joke, to tease you about finally deciding to show up.
The words died on his lips when he saw you. You weren’t looking at him, not really, just muttering a half-hearted apology as you dropped your bag in the corner. But when you finally met his gaze, his chest did that stupid thing where it almost stopped. Not in a good way.
Your eyes were bloodshot red, the kind of red that came from hours of crying, from tears that wouldn’t stop no matter how hard you tried. You looked exhausted, like you hadn’t slept in days, and your usual spark was nowhere to be found.
His first instinct was to make a joke, to lighten the mood the way he always did, but he couldn’t. Not when you looked like that.
“Hey,” he said softly, his voice void of its usual cockiness. “You okay?”
You nodded, but it was the kind of nod that was meant to shut someone up, not because you actually meant it. You were far from okay.
“You’re late,” he said, his tone teasing, but even he could hear the concern underneath.
“I know, sorry,” you replied, your voice small, almost defeated.
Rafe frowned, his eyes narrowing as he studied you. This wasn’t like you. You were always so put together, so in control, and seeing you like this was
so unsettling.
“What happened?” he asked, more serious now, the joking tone completely gone.
You shook your head, avoiding his gaze as you busied yourself with the equipment, but Rafe wasn’t going to let it go that easily. Not when he could see the pain written all over your face.
“C’mon sweetheart, what’s going on?” he pressed, his voice soft but insistent. “Did something happen with Logan?”
The way you flinched at his name told him everything he needed to know.
Protectiveness instantly swelled inside him. He’d always thought Logan was too good to be true, but seeing you like this confirmed it.
“Did he hurt you?” His voice was low, a dangerous edge to it that he usually kept hidden from you, saved it for the ice. “Because if he did, I swear to God—”
“No,” you interrupted, your voice cracking as you finally looked at him, “I mean, yes, but
 it’s not like that.”
His jaw clenched, his hands curling into fists at his sides. “What did he do?”
You hesitated, the words trapped in your throat as you tried to hold it together. But there was no point in pretending anymore, not when Rafe was looking at you like that—like he actually cared, like he was ready to go to war for you if that’s what it took.
“He cheated,” you finally whispered, your voice trembling as the tears you’d been holding back started to spill over. “I found out through a fucking DM on Instagram. Some girl
she just messaged me out of the blue and told me everything. And when I confronted him, he didn’t even deny it. He just—just said it wasn’t a big deal.”
Rafe’s vision blurred with red-hot anger. The kind of emotion he only felt when his team was being robbed by referees or losing.
He wanted to find Logan and beat the shit out of him for making you cry, for being stupid enough to let you go. But more than that, he wanted to make you feel better, to make the hurt go away, even if he didn’t know how.
“That fucking asshole,” He growled, his voice trembling with barely controlled rage. “I swear to God, I’ll—let me get on that ice and I’ll wipe the entire ring with his face.”
“Rafe, don’t,” you pleaded quickly, cutting him off. “It’s not worth it. He’s not worth it, okay?”
His heart twisted at the broken look in your eyes, the way your voice wavered as if you didn’t quite believe your own words.
“He’s not worth you,” Rafe rebutted, stepping closer, his anger replaced by something gentler, “You deserve better than that. Way better.”
You looked up at him, surprised by the sincerity in his voice. It wasn’t like him to be so serious. But here he was, looking at you like you were the most important person in the world, and it made you want to cry even more.
“I don’t know what I deserve anymore,” you admitted. He reached out, hesitating for just a second before he gently held your cheek, his thumb brushing away the tear that had finally escaped.
“You deserve someone who knows what they have when they have you,” he reassured you, his eyes locked on yours. “Someone who would never make you cry like this. Someone who would never, ever cheat on you.”
You swallowed hard, feeling a fresh wave of tears threatening to spill over at his words. “Rafe
”
“I’m serious,” he continued, not giving you a chance to doubt yourself again. “You’re
you’re amazing, you know that? Any guy would be lucky to have you, and Logan’s a fucking idiot for not seeing that.”
You shook your head, trying to keep it together, but it was no use.
You started to cry, the kind of deep, gut-wrenching sobs that you’d been holding in all weekend. And before you knew it, you were collapsing into his arms, letting him hold you as you cried, his arms strong and steady around you.
He didn’t say anything, didn’t try to shush you or tell you everything was going to be okay. He just held you, his hand slowly rubbing your back as you let it all out, crying into his chest until there were no more tears left.
When you finally pulled back, your face red and puffy from crying, you only uttered a small, “Thank you.”
Rafe nodded, his eyes practically glazed with love sickness as he looked down at you. “Anytime.”
And then, without thinking, you leaned up and pressed a soft, hesitant peck to his cheek, lingering for just a second before pulling away.
He blinked, a little stunned by the gesture, but before he could say anything, you stepped back.
“Do you mind if we reschedule for tomorrow?” you said quickly, your voice still shaky. “I’m not sure I-“
“Of course not.”
You breathed out in relief, “Thank you again. I’ll see you tomorrow.”
He wanted to tell you to stay, to tell you that it was okay to not be okay, that you didn’t have to face this alone.
But he knew you needed space, needed time to process everything that had happened. He could wait. He’d wait forever for you.
“Yeah,” he said softly, nodding as you turned to leave. “Tomorrow.”
He wanted to be there for you, to be the one you turned to when everything fell apart. But more than that, he wanted to be the one to put you back together again, to show you that not all guys were like Logan—that he wasn’t like Logan.
And as you disappeared down the hallway, he made a silent promise to himself: he was going to make you see that. No matter what it took.
Tumblr media
The weeks passed, each session with Rafe seamlessly flowing into the next. What started as this totally professional thing, strictly business, slowly morphed into something way more personal. His cocky jokes and playful banter had shifted into these deep conversations that actually mattered, and somewhere along the way, you found yourself getting closer to him than you ever expected.
Rafe’s knee had healed remarkably well, and now the day had arrived: his first game back on the ice.
As it drew near, a strange sense of anxiety started to mess with your head. Your life had become so closely tied to Rafe’s recovery over the past few months that the thought of him no longer needing your help—or your company—left you with an unsettling emptiness.
You were going to miss him.
You had prepared yourself for the possibility that he might distance himself once he was back on the ice. After all, athletes had their own lives, their own routines, and you were just the therapist who had helped him get to this point.
But when he invited you to his first game, the gesture came as a welcome. Whether you wanted to admit it or not, he’d slowly lurked his way into your heart.
It was after a particularly intense session, where you’d pushed him harder than ever before, that he brought it up. You were finishing up, wiping down the equipment while he caught his breath, stretching out his legs on the bench.
“Y’know sweetheart,” Rafe started, his voice casual but with a hint of something more in it, “I’ve got my first game back tomorrow night.”
You looked up, catching the not so subtle excitement in his tone.
“Yeah, I’ve heard. You must be excited.”
“Nervous as hell, more like it.” He chuckled, running a hand through his hair, “It’s been a long time coming. A lot of pressure to perform, y’know?”
You nodded, understanding him. You’d seen how hard he’d worked, how much this comeback meant to him. “You’ll do great, Cameron. You’re more than ready.”
He smiled at that, but there was something else in his expression, something hesitant. “I was thinking
maybe you could come. To the game, I mean. It’d be nice to have someone there who’s seen the whole process, who knows what it took to get back on that ice.”
You felt a warmth spread through your chest. It wasn’t just the invitation—it was what it represented. He didn’t just see you as the therapist who’d helped him heal.
He saw you as someone important, someone he wanted by his side as he took this next step. A friend maybe.
“I’d love to, Rafe. I wouldn’t miss it for anything.”
Relief washed over his face, followed by a grin that was equal parts gratitude and something else— “Good,” he said, his voice quieter now, “because I’d hate for you to miss it. You’ve been a big part of this, more than you know.”
Your heart fluttered at his words, and you found yourself blushing under his gaze.
“I’m just doing my job,” you shook your head, but the look in his eyes told you that he saw right through your attempt to downplay it.
“Yeah, well, I’m glad it’s you,” Rafe said, his voice earnest. “I don’t think I could’ve done this with anyone else.”
The sincerity in his voice, the way he looked at you made it hard to breathe. This was more than just an invitation to a game. This was him telling you, in his own way, that you mattered to him—that you were more than just his therapist, that you were someone he wanted to keep around.
“I’m glad it was me too,” you admitted, unable to keep your eyes away from his.
“Tomorrow night, then.”
“Tomorrow night.”
Now, as you sit in the stands, watching Rafe skate out onto the ice, you feel a nervous anticipation that has little to do with the game itself.
Just before the puck drops, Rafe catches your eye, giving you a confident wink that sends your heart racing like a school girl. He knows what this game means, not just for him, but for you as well.
Logan is there, playing on the opposite team. You haven’t seen him in exactly two months. Whatever feelings you had for him disappeared the moment you found out about his betrayal, but your ego still hurts like hell.
The energy in the arena is electric, a buzz that makes his blood hum with anticipation. His first game back, and the stakes couldn’t be higher—not just because of his injury, not just because it’s a rivalry match, but because Logan is on the other side of the ice. Rafe’s jaw clenches at the thought of that bastard, the memory of your tear-streaked face still fresh in his mind.
During warm-ups, he spotted Logan, skating like he didn’t have a care in the world, like he hadn’t just thrown away the best thing that ever happened to him. Rafe’s grip tightens on his stick, his knuckles white against the black tape. The rage simmering beneath his skin isn’t just about the game. It’s personal.
His focus is razor-sharp, every movement precise, every play calculated. But no matter how much he tries to concentrate on the game, his eyes keep drifting back to Logan, who skates circles around the ice like he owns it.
The first period passes without incident, but by the second, the tension is boiling over. Rafe feels it building, that need to do something, to break Logan’s face in half. He doesn’t just want to beat him; he wants to humiliate him, to knock that smug look off his face once and for all.
Then it happens.
Midway through the second period, Logan makes a hard hit on one of Rafe’s teammates, sending the guy crashing into the boards. The hit is clean, but it’s the arrogance in Logan’s smirk that pushes Rafe over the edge.
He doesn’t hesitate.
He skates straight at Logan, not bothering with any pretense. If Logan wants to play dirty, he is more than ready to play dirtier. Logan barely has time to react before Rafe drops his gloves, his intent crystal clear.
“You think you can just get away with that?” He snarls, his voice low and menacing as he shoves Logan hard in the chest, the force sending him stumbling back on his skates.
Logan’s eyes flash with surprise, quickly followed by anger. “What the hell’s your problem, Cameron?”
He doesn’t bother with a reply.
He swings, his fist connecting solidly with Logan’s jaw. The satisfying crunch of bone against bone is drowned out by the roar of the crowd, but Rafe doesn’t care. He’s been waiting for this moment, waiting to unleash all the pent-up anger and frustration that’s been eating away at him since the day you walked into that PT room with your heart shattered.
Logan staggers back, his expression twisting with fury. He recovers quickly, launching himself at Rafe with a wild swing, but Rafe is ready. He dodges the punch and counters with another one of his own, this time aiming for Logan’s ribs. He can feel the impact reverberate up his arm, but it’s not enough. He wants more.
“Come on!” He shouts, face red from all the pent-up anger simmering inside him. “Is that all you’ve fucking got?”
Logan grits his teeth, struggling to keep his balance. “You’re fucking crazy, Cameron!”
“You haven't seen shit," He spits back, landing another punch to Logan’s midsection. “But at least I know how to treat someone right.”
Logan’s eyes widen, the realization of what this is really about dawning on him. “This is about her? You’re seriously going to throw down over some girl?”
Rafe’s vision goes red at the mention of you, the casual way Logan dismisses you as “some girl.” He doesn’t care that he’s going too far, doesn’t care that the refs are probably going to break this up any second. All he cares about is making Logan feel a fraction of the pain he caused you.
“You don’t get to talk about her,” He growls, grabbing Logan by the collar and yanking him close. “You don’t even get to think about her.”
Logan tries to shove him off, but Rafe is relentless, landing punch after punch, each one fueled by the memory of you crying in his arms, by the way your voice trembled when you told him what Logan had done.
By now, the refs are on them, trying to pull Rafe away, but he isn’t finished. Not yet.
“You don’t deserve her,” He hisses through clenched teeth, his fist connecting with Logan’s face one last time before the refs finally manage to separate them. “You never did.”
Logan stumbles back, his face a bloody mess, and for a brief moment, he feels a little satisfaction. But it isn’t enough to stop the anger, the frustration, the overwhelming need to protect you from ever being hurt like that again.
He sits in the penalty box, his chest heaving as he tries to calm the adrenaline still pumping through his veins. He can barely hear the crowd over the sound of his own heartbeat, but he knows they’re going wild. The fight has been brutal, and he’s given Logan exactly what he deserved. But as the rush of the fight starts to fade, he starts to overthink: how will you react?
The game ends with a hard-fought win for his team, but the victory feels hollow. As his teammates celebrate on the ice, Rafe’s thoughts are miles away, fixated on you. What if you’re pissed? What if you think he’s overstepped?
After the final whistle, he makes his way to the locker room, his mind racing. He’s about to strip off his gear when he hears footsteps approaching, quick and determined. Before he can even turn around, the locker room door flies open, and there you are, marching straight toward him with a look on your face that he can’t quite read.
Shit. You’re mad.
“Hey, listen,” he starts, his voice low and uncertain as he holds up his hands in a gesture of peace. “I know that might’ve looked bad out there, but I swear—”
You don’t let him finish. Instead, you grab the front of his jersey and pull him down to your level, crashing your lips against his with a force that takes him completely off guard.
His mind goes blank as all he can focus on is the way your mouth moves against his. It’s like nothing he’s ever felt before—raw, heated, desperate.
His hands instantly find your waist, gripping tightly as he pulls you flush against him, the heat of your bodies mingling in the small space between you. Your kiss is wild, all tongues and teeth, and when you bite down on his bottom lip, hard enough to make him groan, he realizes this is real.
You’re kissing him.
“Fuck,” he gasps against your mouth, his voice ragged with need. But you don’t give him a chance to catch his breath, your hands threading through his hair as you deepen the kiss, your lips moving with a feverish intensity that makes his head spin.
You break away just long enough to breathe, your lips brushing against his as you whisper, “You’re such a fucking idiot.”
The way you say it, half-growled, half-breathed, sends a shiver down his spine, and he can’t help the sound that escapes him, somewhere between a moan and a groan. His grip on your waist tightens, his fingers digging into your skin as he fights to keep control, but you aren’t making it easy.
You press yourself even closer, your body flush against his as you kiss him again, harder this time, more demanding. Your tongue sweeps into his mouth, claiming him, and Rafe is more than happy to let you take the lead. He’s never felt anything like this before—this urgency, this hunger that makes him want to lose himself in you completely.
You tug on his hair, tilting his head back to give yourself better access, and Rafe nearly loses it right then and there. He can feel his self-control slipping, can feel the primal need to devour you taking over, but he doesn’t care. All he can think about is how badly he wants you, how desperately he needs to feel more of you.
When you pull back, your lips are swollen and glistening, your breathing just as ragged as his. You stare at him, your eyes dark with lust, and Rafe feels his heart hammering in his chest, each beat echoing with the desire pulsing through him.
“Been waiting for over an hour to do that,” you breathe.
Rafe’s hands roam up your back, tracing the curve of your spine as he leans in, brushing his lips against your ear. When he reaches the curve of your ass, he doesn’t stop. His fingers grip you there, kneading the soft flesh with a pressure that makes you gasp into his mouth, your hips instinctively pressing against his.
“Then do it again,” he murmurs, “Do whatever the hell you want to me.”
His hands are everywhere, sliding up your sides, his thumbs brushing the undersides of your breasts before moving back down to cup your ass again, pulling you even closer against him. You can feel him, hard and ready, pressing against your thigh, and it sends a wave of heat pooling low in your belly. You want him—more than you ever wanted anyone—and the way he’s looking at you tells you he feels the same.
Rafe lets out a low, almost guttural sound as you rock your hips against him, the pressure making him tighten his grip on you, holding you in place as he grounds himself against you. The sensation makes your breath hitch, a needy whimper escaping your lips that only spurs him on.
“Fucking idiot,” you whisper again, your voice rough with desire as you nip at his bottom lip, pulling it between your teeth before soothing the bite with your tongue.
His reaction is immediate. He groans, a sound so deep and full of need that it sends a shiver down your spine. His hands flex against you, his fingers digging into your flesh as if he’s trying not to loseg control completely.
But you can feel it—the way he’s trembling, the way his breath is coming in harsh, uneven pants against your neck. He kisses you again, hard and desperate, his mouth moving against yours with a fervor that matches the wild pounding of your heart
But just when you think you can’t take it any longer, the sound of footsteps echoes outside the door, snapping you both back to reality. You pull back, your chest heaving as you try to catch your breath, your mind spinning with the intensity of what had just happened. He’s just staring at you, his eyes glazed with desire, his lips swollen and red from your kisses. He looks as wrecked as you feel, and it takes everything in you not to drag him back down for more.
But you know you shouldn’t. Not here. Not now.
Except there’s no fucking way Rafe is letting you go now. He doesn’t say a word. His eyes lock onto yours, dark and filled with a raw need that makes your breath catch.
He doesn’t ask; doesn’t need to. He’s done waiting, done pretending he can hold back.
Without another word, he pulls you toward the locker room, his grip firm and unyielding as he leads you through the maze of benches and lockers. Your heart races as he pushes open the door to the showers, the sound of the water echoing off the tile walls. The room is empty, the air thick with steam, and the second you step inside, he’s pouncing on you. Clothes are gone in the blink of an eye.
He presses you up against the cold tile wall, his body flushes against yours as his lips find yours again, hands running over your wet skin. His mouth moves from your lips to your neck, his tongue tracing a path down to your collarbone as he kisses, licks, and nips at your sensitive skin. You whimper, fingers threading through his hair as he drops to his knees in front of you, his lips trailing down your stomach.
The sensation was overwhelming, the combination of the hot water and his hot mouth on your skin driving you insane. "If you don’t-" your voice trembles with need as he spreads your thighs apart, “Fuck.”
He looks up at you, “Yeah, that’s what I thought.”
His hands grip your hips firmly. Without another word, he buries his face between your legs, his tongue flicking out to taste you. The sudden, intense pleasure makes you cry out, your hands clutching at his broad shoulders as he licks and sucks, his tongue working you over with a skill that leaves you gasping for breath. It’s not fair.
This man can’t possibly be real. The water splashes against your back, masking the sounds of your moans as he takes his time, driving you closer and closer to the edge with every swirl of his tongue. Your body trembles, your legs barely able to hold you up as he pushes you higher, his hands tightening on your hips as he holds you in place.
"Oh my god," you moan, your voice breaking as you feel the pleasure building to an unbearable peak. He doesn’t stop, doesn’t let up until you are crying out his name, your body shuddering as your orgasm crashes over you, your nails digging into his shoulders as the pleasure rips through you.
Rafe keeps his mouth on you, drawing out your release until you are trembling, your legs shaking as you struggle to catch your breath.
Truth is, he doesn’t want to stop. He can’t get enough now that he has finally gotten a taste. He stands back up, his hands running up your sides as he kisses you again, the taste of you still on his lips. You can feel him, hard and ready against your stomach, and it only drives you crazier. Of course, this man had to be fucking huge.
Without breaking the kiss, he spins you around, pressing you against the wall as his hands grip your hips, pulling them back slightly. You brace yourself against the tile, your body arching as you felt the head of his cock pressing against your entrance.
"Oh Rafe," you groan out his name, your voice low and needy and he growls softly in response, his breath hot against your ear as he slowly pushes inside you, filling you inch by inch until he is buried to the hilt.
Rafe nearly passes out from the sight. Watching himself disappear inside you has to be his favorite sight in the entire world.
“So fucking pretty.” The feeling of him stretching you, filling you completely, is almost too much to bear, and you let out a long, low moan as he begins to move, setting a slow, deliberate pace that drives you wild. The water cascades over your bodies as he thrusts into you, his hands gripping your hips tightly as he fucks you with a steady, unrelenting rhythm.
Each thrust pushes you harder against the wall, the cool tile a pleasing contrast to the heat between you. You can barely think, barely breathe, lost in the sensation of Rafe moving inside you, his cock hitting all the right spots with every thrust. The sound of the water mixed with the wet slap of skin against skin, your moans and gasps echoing off the walls as the pleasure built higher and higher, threatening to consume you.
"God, you feel so fucking good," He groans, his voice rough with desire as he leans over you, his lips brushing against your ear.
"Faster," you gasp, your voice pleading as you push back against him, needing more, needing everything. He doesn’t hesitate. His pace quickening, his thrusts coming harder and faster as he drives you both toward the edge. The intensity of it is overwhelming, every nerve in your body on fire as he fucks you with a raw, desperate need that matches your own. Just when you think you couldn’t take any more, you heard footsteps outside the shower, followed by a voice calling out.
"Cameron? You in here, man?" Rafe freezes, his body tense, his cock still buried deep inside you as he glances toward the door, his breath ragged.
"Yeah, I’m here," he calls back, trying to keep his voice steady, though you could hear the strain in it.
"We’re heading downtown to the bar. You coming?"
He looks down at you, all too pleased with himself, "Not tonight," he replies, his voice thick with lust. "Got something else to take care of."
There’s a pause, then a chuckle from the other side of the door. "Alright, man. Have fun."
The footsteps retreat, and the moment the door closes, he’s moving again, thrusting into you with a renewed urgency, the near-interruption only heightening the intensity of the moment. You moan loudly, your body quaking as he drives into you with a relentless rhythm, each thrust sending you spiraling closer and closer to another orgasm.
The combination of the heat, the steam, the feel of Rafe fucking you so hard is too much, the almost getting caught. You feel yourself losing it, your entire body tightening as you reach the edge once again.
"Come for me," He growls, his hands gripping your hips so tightly you are sure there will be bruises tomorrow. His words push you over, and you cry out as your orgasm tears through you, your body convulsing around him as the pleasure crashes over you in waves.
Rafe follows right behind you, his hips slamming into yours one last time as he comes, his body shuddering as he fills you to the brim with a low, guttural groan.
For a long moment, neither of you move, both of you panting, your bodies still trembling from the intensity of it all. The water continues to pour over you, washing away the evidence of your encounter as you slowly come down from the high.
Finally, he pulls out, turning you around to face him as he cups your face in his hands, his lips brushing softly against yours in a tender kiss that’s so different to the rough, desperate way he just fucked you.
"You’re a fucking idiot," you whisper against his lips, a small, breathless laugh escaping you.
He chuckles softly, his thumb brushing over your cheek as he looked down at you, drowning in affection. "Yeah, but I’m your fucking idiot."
He was fighting every fucking player on that ice ring if it meant having you again.
