MADDER MORTEM REVEAL DETAILS OF UPCOMING 8TH ALBUM PLUS NEW SINGLE & VIDEO
One of Norway’s most interesting bands, MADDER MORTEM, has always defied any attempt at genre-labeling. Fronted by Agnete M. Kirkevaag’s unique, wide-ranging voice, it can be said that they pretty much define the “All Things To All Men” category, drawing fans who profess a liking for genres that range from Prog to Metal, Rock to Extreme.  But make no mistake, this is not a band that wanders…

Madder Mortem: Old Eyes, New Heart
Aujourd'hui sur Blog à part – Madder Mortem: Old Eyes New Heart L'adage nomen est omen se vérifie souvent, comme avec Madder Mortem, à la fois cinglé et macabre. La preuve avec ce nouvel album, Old Eyes, New Heart. #ProgMetal #GothMetal

MADDER MORTEM Release New Single 'Unity' from Upcoming Album
With the release date of  MADDER MORTEM  “Old Eyes, New Heart”,  fast approaching, Dark Essence Records have today revealed a new track from the album.  Titled “Unity”, it is, according to the band: A song about not lying to oneself, facing reality head-on and with honesty. Musically, “Unity” blends Muse-ish excess with Eastern rhythmic and melodic influences and a sing-along chorus, all wrapped…

oooh love all of these!! i will definitely start listening to spiritbox <3
i have to rec one of my all time female metal vocalist, agnete kirkevaag from madder mortem. although she doesn‘t do growls per se, her voice is. well i'm just gonna quote their official site: Agnete possesses an incredible range, full of drama and emotion, as she seamlessly moves from warm, sensual caresses to bloodcurdling screams. Kirkevaag's voice and melodies get stuck in your head, serving as the perfect foil for the band who churns out dissonant, down-tuned riffs and chaos.

Ages ago i did your music uquiz and got recommended vulture industries, and I have been absolutely obsessed with them ever since (thank u for that btw!!!) do you know of any other bands that are similar? I rly like their vocals they commit to the drama hard
oh man good memories of that quiz it was fun to see everyone tagging their wizard type
For similar bands, unfortunately I haven't encountered much quite like them :-( so I can't offer too many recs but try Hammers of Misfortune (x & x), The Vision Bleak (x), Major Parkinson (x - they're more eclectic than vulture industries but have a similar over the top energy, and this album has some dark cabaret influences like The Tower). Hail Spirit Noir's Pneuma has a mix of growls and cleans and also keyboards & other odd instrumentation that gives 'em a sort of circus-y feel that reminds me of parts of some VI albums. Some Madder Mortem songs (x, their Deadlands album) for dramatic vox. In The Woods (x) for something slightly more low key and experimental (& melancholic) but still theatrical. Wuthering Heights is power/prog and more frantically paced but the vocalist loves chewing the scenery. Finally this is a bit far removed (though still prog), but I really liked the album Ayam by Disillusion, not the same type of ham but the vocalist goes places in sort of spoken-ish segments. Their album Back to Times of Splendor also good.
