Happy Blog-versary @storyweaverofgondor !!!! 🙆‍♀️♥♥ For the Cat-ucopia event I selected Cats Kilworth House 2019 because everything about that production is just so interesting and I've always wanted to draw something from it! For this artwork my initial plan was to just draw Tugger, but then I kept looking at the costume designs and set designs and going down a rabbit hole and AH what the heck let's draw the all three Doot Bros HAHA

I was struggling to paint like how I usually do when I was working on this painting so I changed it up a little and tried out something different this time! I referenced Kishimoto's colored art for Naruto and tried to replicate it with digital art, hopefully it works xD; it's definitely something different! Thank you so much to @storyweaverofgondor for hosting this event and for being such a wonderful member of the CATS fandom!! ♥♥ Here's to another year of funky lil cats dancing away 🥰♥

Macavity and Bombalurina abandoned Victoria when she was a small kitten because she was a runt. However, when they see her again and recognize her, they're quite interested in her. Perhaps she inherited some magic from her parents? 🤫

Hey, I have a 2019 Munkoffelees story idea and I want to know your opinion if that’s okay. So what if Mistoffelees was created by a spell by Macavity to win the Jellicle Choice and sneak Macavity into the hot air balloon and go to the Heaviside Lair but something went wrong and Macavity accidentally gave Mistoffelees a personality with feelings. Misto meets Munkustrap and they fall in love. Mistoffelees refuses to help Macavity and stands up to him. Then Macavity strips the magic out of Mistoffelees but before he can continue Munkustrap sees this and Macavity and him have a battle scene (Munkustrap wins obvi) Misto tells Munk everything and calls him self a monster and tells him that he understands if he kicks him out of the tribe after the battle. Then Munk could tell him something along the lines of “That was what he created you to do, but you chose to not fallow through a monster would not have done that. You are a true Jellicle.” They confess there love to each other and they kiss. The end.

I absolutely LOVE this idea. Misto being a puppet created by Macavity but growing a heart and soul and feelings for Munkustrap. Munkustrap just finding this lost clumsy cat and instantly taking him in. It's so sweet that I had to draw some things for it 💜

I love imagining that the reason misto is so clumsy is that he used to be a puppet on strings but now his strings are cut

Does Tom (tiny dick) Hooper know about cat breeds? I just gotta ask because while (thank the lord for his mercy) he definitely didn't know about Sphinx cats he does know that there are such things as short hair breeds and long hair breeds right?

Like, if they were just animated to have longer fur it probably wouldn't have so eye-burning? I know they can do it, just look at Gus and Old Deuteronomy, so (aside from the amount of extra hard work the poor CGI artists would've had to put in) why not just make a large amount of them long haired breeds while having certain characters like Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer all be short hair?

Like it makes sense for those two to be short haired because long fur for Jerrie and Teazer would be counter productive for thievery. Bombalurina could be a good idea too to have something distinctive for her so she isn't lost in the sea of everyone looking the same.

Like, appearance can tell such a story, it's why I like that Grizzabella's coat is all matted in waves and curls in the 1998 film, adding onto the fact that she was a Glamour Cat who was also probably a show cat of the La Perm variety as those cats have high maintenance fur. This detail gets lost because Grizzabella looks like everyone else! There is nothing to tell me that she's disheveled and sad because you give me nothing!

That's not to mention the cool things you could do with Macavity by having him be all CGI'd. He could have hair missing in certain places, mismatched hair growth where some of it is matted and in others it isn't, hollowed sockets with glowing green eyes, bright white shining teeth that aren't actually white but a very pale pink. He could've been really scary! But instead were given nightmare fuel in the form of Idris Elba's naked body.

Every single time I think about this nightmare of a movie the more I believe that I, as a 3rd year college student, could make a better movie musical that would've actually won some kind of award.

I just watched Cats 2019 for the first time. I’m not going to talk about it with the same detail as I have the live shows, but here’s a brief summary of my thoughts:

- Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer was the best part. The actors gave a good vocal and physical performance and they looked like they were having the best time.

- I also really loved Francesca Hayward as Victoria. She was so cute and I liked her vocal performance the most of all.

- Idris Elba was a good Macavity and I want more of him, honestly.

- MISTORIA!!! This movie drips with Mistoria and I love it.

- My biggest issue with the movie is that the Jellicles do not have a close-knit, familial vibe. They just feel like characters who get together once in a blue moon and don’t really like each other that much. Victoria is the only cat who is given some sort of backstory/character, which makes it hard to latch onto any of the Jellicles. This also carries over to their acceptance of Grizabella. I don’t feel like I know any of these characters by the time we get to Memory, so it feels more like Griz was only accepted by Victoria and Old Deuteronomy. The rest of the Tribe have just enough interaction with her to show that they hate her, and then suddenly by the end she’s accepted as the Jellicle Choice. I guess it just didn’t feel like an earned conclusion to me. Did the Jellicles really learn their lesson here?

- I wasn’t thrilled with many of the vocal performances. Francesca Hayward was the best, Fairchild (Munkustrap), Collins (Mungojerrie), and Morgan (Rumpleteazer) were good, and the rest of the cast just falls under “fine” for me. Nobody really stands out and some moments were really pitchy to me.

- I don’t like that they took the “competition” aspect of the Jellicle Ball so literally, to the point where Old Deut calls the Jellicles “contestants,” and Macavity really wants to win? At one point Old Deuteronomy also says that she chooses the cat who most deserves it, and that just rubs me the wrong way. I guess you could say that motto changed after Grizabella, but it more so feels like the team behind this misunderstood the point of the Jellicle Choice.

Overall, Cats 2019 is not as bad as I thought it was going to be. I wouldn’t call it good, but it’s definitely not the worst movie I’ve ever seen. Once I got into it, it was easy just to go along with it and have fun. And even though it is my least favorite version of Cats (so far), I will eventually re-watch it and fall asleep to it. It did not ruin Cats for me like I feared it would.

Anyways, I know this movie has been talked about and trashed so many times, so that’s all I’ll say about it for now. If you want to know how I felt about certain aspects, feel free to send an ask, but I don’t see myself talking about it much in the future. It is what it is, I guess.
