Hey pasta, I hope you don't find this too personal a question: but, where online do you connect with witches and witchiness the most? I'm wanting to get back into it a little bit, but I don't wanna use what I was before. The problem is, I don't really know where to find information anymore. Anywho, i hope you're having a good day! Thanks in advance <3
I don't mind this question at all! It's a legitimate one because it's kinda hard to know where to go with everything so spread out!
Online I primarily connect with general witchiness in these ways:
Pinterest. A lot of it's aesthetic but I tend to seek out the more info-based pins - different rituals and design ideas, correspondences, links to informational blog posts, stuff like that. There's a TON of info people have helpfully gathered there. I always cross reference and double-check before I use something, just to be safe, but a lot of it's solid. Also has good book recs!
I have a few people on witchtok that I follow - some are local witches I trust and others do a lot of informational tiktoks I find helpful. Granted, there's a LOT of meh stuff to dig through, but there's some really great people there who do good work (if you want a few names just message me)
I get a few newsletters from local places, but also from sites like The Wild Hunt which has articles about paganism and witchcraft, general related news, along with some educational articles by elders and experienced members in the community.
I do occasionally skim the various witchcraft subreddits. I've found those hit or miss, but sometimes you get lucky!
To connect to other witches online:
There's def a little community here on tumblr! I follow a few of the blogs and go browse the tags every now and then, and it's small but active and social, so this is worth looking into!
Gd, there are a ton of us on tiktok, and while it's not always easy to socially connect, I know (at least where I am) a lot of my local witch community advertises there when we have events so it's a good way to see who's around you locally!
This is one I'm exploring, but I know there are some on discord and that's where I've seen a lot of migration to from older, dying sites like FB.
MEETUP! There are a lot of places advertising virtual AND physical witchy meetups! That's how I found my local community in my city - the witchy shop about 3 mins away from my house (that I didn't even know existed) was doing a tarot class and I took it, and now I'm part of a local community which does everything from educational beginner classes on various elements of the craft, to group meetups just for general chats, to public rituals (just did a Mabon one the other evening!).
So those are where I generally connect with witchy people and info online, and it's primarily where I found a lot of my info before I moved to my new city and was able to tap into a pre-existing community. The landscape is changing so quickly right now, it's gd wild, but hopefully this can give you some leads! ❤️
#witchcraft#these were all the sources i used before being able to have a local community#and i still use them even now that i have local resources and elders to ask questions of and learn from#i just mix them together basically#i *used* to recommend fb too cause there are more elders there in theory to learn from#and i do use that to keep an eye on my local community and what events are coming#but it's such a gd dumpster fire that i've moved away from it

New Hunter's Moon
Most of the general activities I do during a new moon can be found in my first new moon post. Here I want to specifically talk about what I'm doing in more detail, so this may become a little bit self-indulgent. The Hunter's moon is the first lunar cycle after the Harvest lunar cycle (either in October or November).
✩₊˚.⋆☾⋆⁺₊✧
Content:
New Moon in Libra
Planning
The Hunt
The Ancestors
Conclusion
✩₊˚.⋆☾⋆⁺₊✧
New Moon in Libra
This new moon is in Libra, making this a great time for examining your relationships and how you interact with the people in your life. Learning to play nice or cut them out of your life can make big changes this month.
✩₊˚.⋆☾⋆⁺₊✧
Planning
Despite not following the wheel of the year, I really enjoy the Seasons of the Witch oracle decks based on it. Normally I would switch to the Samhain deck for this lunar cycle but we have been short on money since my husband was laid off. He has already started a new job and will be getting his first paycheck soon so my money jar has been doing its job. Anyway, because I can’t buy the Samhain deck until we are into this next lunar cycle, I am continuing with the Mabon deck. This time I pulled the Maple Tree, so have set that as my theme for the Hunters Moon.
Next I set up my calendar, being sure to mark when I need to plant garlic. Then the pages to help me plan for the full moon, the first frost, and Halloween. Along with my dream journal and tarot reading spread.
I’ve also set up the first week for this lunar cycle and done my reading around the card I pulled for October in my year ahead spread from last year. I also study an herb a month so have prepared a page to begin work with horehound.
These pages are pretty open format so I can add as the lunar cycle progresses if I wish.
✩₊˚.⋆☾⋆⁺₊✧
The Hunt
During this time of year, animals are starting to fatten up for winter, an ideal time for hunting. This plus the effect of the cleared fields and similar lighting from the moon as the harvest moon, makes it easier to find that prey, for human and animal hunters alike. For me, it is also around this time that the state regulated hunting seasons are really beginning to open. Coming from a hunting family, this is a busy time. For me, it is important to honor the animals that are giving us sustenance. Throughout this lunar cycle I will keep watch for what people are able to hunt successfully and make sure to add them to my full moon ritual. I also hope for success and often make charms to this end for my husband to carry (I missed the opportunity to learn myself when I was young, though maybe if I take hunter's safety my dad will let me tag along).
Hunting can be seen as controversial in witchcraft spaces, but it is the hunting side of my family that cultivated my respect and love of the outdoors. It's the hunter's in my family that joined the campaign against farm lands extending into already dwindling habitat, donate money to conservation efforts, and learned about ecology enough to protect our waterways and parks as their full time job. More on how this figures into my spirituality, especially this time of year, on the Hunter's full moon.
✩₊˚.⋆☾⋆⁺₊✧
The Ancestors
My family comes from a long line of subsistence farmers who supplemented their diet with foraging and hunting, which is reflected in our family recipes. Depending on when this new moon falls, I may make one of these recipes from what was caught this season as an offering. Hoping to continue to have their guidance and protection out in woods. If we have yet to get anything, I will make another seasonal family recipe asking for them to guide the hunters to better luck.
✩₊˚.⋆☾⋆⁺₊✧
Conclusion
This lunar cycle can be very personal. Maybe you don't want to work with the physical hunt, but the Wild Hunt? Which starts around this time depending on where the folklore is coming from. This could also be a good time to learn about local animal behavior from your local hunters or DNR if you're just beginning to connect with your landscape. Can't wait to see how this lunar cycle shapes up for everyone!

What I did for Mabon / Autumnal Equinox
Even though I'm still feeling the Equinox spirit and I will be eating Hobo stew for the next 3 days, I thought I'd share how I celebrated the start of my favorite season before my calendar gets away from me.
Like many of the East Coast of the U.S., I woke up to a rainy autumn morn with temps in the upper 50s (about 14°C). Although I struggled to make myself get up because the coziness was just perfect, I did.
But before jumping into my preparations for work, I started my morning with a meditation session, reading from my current read on a Tao master, and followed it up with an in-depth tarot reading in honor of the Autumnal Equinox.
Here is the spread I used. I found it on Pinterest and it's called the Autumn Harvest Spread ...
And this is what it told me ... as you can see, I used a slightly different layout than what the spread displayed, but I don't feel the messaging was marred by that at all.
Here were the results of the tarot reading in detail ...
Events that are currently influencing you the most ... The Fool Interpretation: You are on the precipice of something new entering your life -- a new chapter beginning. You may not know what it is or if you'll be ready, but it's in the air and it's affecting you on a profound level.
Where you can harvest comfort Page of Pentacles Interpretation: By practicing earth magick and making plans supported by practical ambitions and reality. Seek confidence and dependability while running toward your dreams. Progress happens one life-stage at a time.
How you can harvest balance and wellness 5 of Swords Interpretation: By picking and choosing my battles wisely. Focus more so on building skills and confidence, and less on obtaining hollow victories.
Something you can be thankful for or a blessing in disguise Ace of Swords Interpretation: Those sparks of clarity and "aha" moments that fill your day, year and life are the very poignant breakthroughs you seek, yet fear. A new door is opening and your conscious mind is attempting to integrate newfound information when you least expect it.
Someone you should connect with this autumn or a relationship that needs your attention 7 of Swords (clarified with the 3 of Pentacles) Interpretation: Yourself and your honest intentions toward your circle, community and humanity in general.
Where to harvest magic. An indicator of how to tap into your psychic abilities. The Devil Interpretation: In the darkness that resides in you. Delving into the shadow self brings liberation and truth from the lies we tell ourselves. Dive deep, find the truth and the healing that follows will feel akin to magic.
Where you will see shifts and changes this autumn 8 of Swords Interpretation: In the things that keep you up at night as you work your way free from the feelings of helplessness, stagnation, and fear.
Something you should focus on and master this autumn 3 of Wands Interpretation: Continuous improvement and movement in the direction you seek as you patiently wait for your energy to manifest and your dreams to become reality.
Where you will succeed and prosper this autumn Queen of Wands Interpretation: Filling your world with joy, creativity, passion and bold expression that you seek, then radiating them from within.
Overall, I pulled 4 Swords: Ace, 5, 7, and 8, which is disconcerting, but not necessarily all bad news. As a matter of fact, most of the cards point to a lot of personal growth this fall season.
The downside is that personal growth often means conflict is on the horizon. That, plus the Fool and Devil cards are making me a bit fearful, but at the same time ... hopeful.
I know that doesn't make sense, but that's what the energy is telling me. Perhaps with time, it will all make sense. ---
And as a final chef's kiss for the day, I pulled this card from the bottom of the deck to show me what energy is being reflected back at me on this lovely first day of fall.
The 7 of Pentacles felt pretty accurate given that it symbolizes a harvest slowly making its way to you. (Mabon is the second harvest of the trio that mark the changing year. Samhain, of course, is the third and final harvest of the year.)
Also, the 7 of Pentacles is a message encouraging you to express gratitude and reflect on your journey so far. That's 2 ideas commonly recommended to those celebrating Mabon. What can I say? I love when messages align like that.
Moving on ...
After my morning "connect," I forced myself to go to work even though my body was begging me to stay home.
I went in, did my thing, and came home to cook my Autumnal Equinox menu. Long story short, I skipped the cornbread because I was really tired, but everything came out well in the end, I think.
Here's a pic of my Hobo Meatball Stew in progress and the final result that I got to eat for dinner.
It doesn't look like much, but trust me, that bowl is deep and the stew is lovely.
After dinner, I enjoyed my apple crisp dessert that I prepared the night before. Here's a pic of all the apples that I peeled, cored, and chopped before covering them in the apple crisp mix and baking them.
And the pic above is what a small plate of it looked like after I cut into the finished dessert after dinner and topped with vanilla bean ice cream.
I got to devour the dessert as I watched Clue on Paramount+. It was the perfect film for kicking off the fall/autumn/dark academia season.
And after watching the film, I happily crawled into bed and scrolled on my phone as the rain outside my window lulled me to sleep.
All in all, it was a pretty good way to start the autumn season.

Happy (Late) Mabon!
This is a day late buuuut happy Mabon anyway. I've mentioned before that autumn is my favorite season. All of my favorite holidays are in autumn, I was born in autumn, I think autumn is the prettiest time of year and it gives me an excuse to buy as much tea as I want. But for the moment I'm living in a place that doesn't really get autumn so I don't get to have the usual autumn atmosphere. Ah well, I've been trying to bring autumn to me by wearing more autumn-colored clothes. And in the future, I'm hoping to live somewhere that gets my fav season again depending on the location of my work.
Anyway, as usual with sabbats I try to do a little something. Yesterday was mostly meh because of my period, but I always like doing tarot themed-tarot spreads around these times. So I found one by @/witchofwarkworth and whipped out my True Black Tarot deck!
Knight of Pentacles, The Star, The Magician (Bonus: Queen of Cups)
I'd say as far as what I'm sowing in myself is stability financial and otherwise. It's okay to hope and be optimistic about the future I'm trying to achieve for myself. A little kindness can go a long way and going with the flow is sometimes the best action. Trying to be resourceful will also be beneficial in the long run. Those are about the general messages I can get from these cards after trying to look and see what autumn wisdoms I'd get this year.
That aside, I'm enjoying some new found freedom in not having to share a room anymore. No more getting walked in on after taking a shower or worrying that I'll wake someone up when I get up to go to the bathroom. I'll be watching The Nightmare Before Christmas without headphones to celebrate and probably take a nap later. Maybe I'll even listen to some Scary Fairy Godmother videos too.
I really need to invest in buying one of those electric kettles so I can heat some water for tea. I have this adorable Moomin mug and I've only been drinking water from it, tea will spice things up. (Water is the superior drink though.)
But yeah, that about summarizes my little stuff for Mabon. I didn't do much yesterday since I was tired after getting home, so I'll be having fun today watching a movie and some videos. If I've got the energy later, I might stop by the astral home and see what's going on today. It's always peaceful and relaxing, it would be nice to live there 24/7
#mabon 2023#journals#roommate has moved out and i officially have the room to myself whoop whoop!!#i think i'll use the second desk for putting down spellcrafting materials

My Year of the Wheel—25
I know I said this last year, forgive me! But it's one of my goals this year to further connect with my craft, and one of the ways I'm doing that is by eschewing the Gregorian calendar and trying to instead follow the moon cycles. Basically what that means is my "months" are from full moon to full moon instead of September 1st to 31st, etc. The year starts and ends on my birthday (or the nearest full moon), because it's my year, after all. I have some birthday hatred but trying to incorporate myself, self-love, and self-care into my craft.
Each moon has some associated meaning, and I intend to post about that soon. But it also has an associated tarot card, from my Year Ahead Spread. I just completed this year's spread (sorry for the crappy landscape shot):
So here's the schedule for the coming year:
September 17, 2024: Full Moon—Harvest Moon, Father of Pentacles
September 22, 2024: Mabon
October 17, 2024: Full Moon—Full Corn Moon, IX of Cups
October 31, 2024: Samhain
November 15, 2024: Full Moon—Hunter's Moon, Daughter of Wands
December 15, 2024: Full Moon—Cold Moon, VI of Wands
December 21 2024: Yule
January 13, 2025: Full Moon—Wolf Moon, VII of Pentacles
February 02, 2025: Imbolc
February 12, 2025: Full Moon—Snow Moon, II of Cups
March 13, 2025: Full Moon—Worm Moon, IV of Swords
March 21, 2025: Ostara
April 12, 2025: Full Moon—Pink Moon, Wheel of Fortune
May 01, 2025: Beltane
May 12, 2025: Full Moon—Flower Moon, Judgement
June 11, 2025: Full Moon—Strawberry Moon, The Hierophant
June 21, 2025: Litha
July 10, 2025: Full Moon—Buck Moon, VII of Wands
August 01, 2025: Lugnasadh
August 09, 2025: Full Moon—Father of Wands
Governing card of the year: III of Swords.
What a wild spread! Tons and tons of Wands throughout, so I expect lots of action and adventure. Late spring/early summer sees 3 back-to-back Major Arcana, with none in the rest of the spread, which I think will be a huge period of growth and learning for me. Starting with the Father of Swords and ending with the Father of Wands feels empowering and also frightening; the III of Swords looming over me is concerning too. I worry about what that means for me, but I look forward to exploring the possibilities within each of these cards.
