Mini-review:

I had so much fun watching this! I feel like the movie's tonal shifts and mixtures might be a bit too jarring for some people, but they worked perfectly for me. Most of the comedy lands pretty well, and the dramatic moments strike a nerve. There are even some effective jump-scares here and there! But the thing that takes the film to the next level is the acting. Greg Hsu and Austin Lin deliver flawless performances that really draw you in. People expecting a full-on gay romance will be disappointed, cause that's not what the story is about at all, but the chemistry between these two actors is fantastic and energetic. The directing is also dynamic and keeps you on the edge of your seat. That being said, the movie is not perfect. It tends to represent gay people in a way that feels somewhat stereotypical, and I think it could have delved much more into the social issues it addresses. I know the film has the best of intentions, but yeah, it could still be better in that regard. Anyway, Marry My Dead Body is a very fun experience, filled with humor, drama, action and great performances.

DANGER ZONE: love this series!

Hi! Some time since my latest post aside for reblog. Love to watch Asian Series, mostly from Japan but sometimes from other Countries as well, so here I am with a recommendation drama (series). It's an original iQIYI series that completely blow my mind in a good way, because of the change of courses and plot twist with lot of suspense and thriller. Its plot is well planed, the acting is good, the characters are well developed and would say is one of the best series from 2021, if not the best (along with Tokyo MER), at least of the things I swatched this year.

I'm talking about "DANGER ZONE" (as you may noticed for the tittle of my entry). It's a 24 episodes Taiwan policial drama (I insist: drama=series) of suspense. mistery, action and drama. It has two seasons, "DANGER ZONE: The Dark Night" and "DANGER ZONE 2: The Silver Lining", of 12 episodes each and they are connected to each other.

Thanks to this drama, I started watching more works of Vic Chou (aka Vic Zhou), aside from MARS, that already watched it several years ago ^_^.

I watched it with EN subs (not my main Language but like to watch my series with English subs) and some subs are better than others depending or the Language, must say, but totally enjoyable if you are looking for a non-typical policial series, no doubt.

Mini-review:

Look, GG Precinct is not bad at all, but it makes the big mistake of selling itself as a spin-off/sequel to Marry My Dead Body (one of my favorite comedies of 2023). At the end of the day, if you change the characters' names and a few random references, there's nothing else connecting it to the movie. I mean, it even seems to forget the character development that happened there. Sure, it's still pretty hilarious and the mystery itself is engaging, but it feels like something we've seen a thousand times. I don't know, it wouldn't have hurt to add supernatural elements again, to sort of bring it a bit closer to the movie. Tbh, the best thing about it is the superb cast, whose acting and comedic timing makes the whole thing fun to watch. So yeah, it's not terrible, but it does feel like cash grab.
