A funnyman's recap of Blue Archive

Prologue

It begins with the player character having a weird dream while on the train to Kivotos, which is ominous enough. Sensei awakens and steps off the train to meet with the person in charge

Her name is Rin, and she is a stand-in. The president of the General Student Council - the Big Cheese, basically - has gone missing and named Sensei, i.e. the player, as the person to summon in this case. Sensei is referred to with gender neutral pronouns, so can be either/or/neither, whatever floats your boat.

(Rin not pictured here BC she doesn't really become relevant to the overall story until way later.)

She functions as a proxy for the Prez while they're gone and brief Sensei on what's happening in the city and Great Googly Moogly, it's gone to shit in a heartbeat.

The seven most notorious criminals of the city had just been all apprehended as the Prez disappears so now they take the confusion as the chance to escape.

And one of them wants to fucking bomb the main tower.

For fun.

She is Kosaka Wakamo, Fox of Calamity (the reference to Tamamo-no-Mae jumps out immediately, no?)

Rin informs Sensei that it's up to them now and with the help of a nice tablet called

Yes, I know. No, I don't think they workshopped it enough. Let's just call it the tablet.

Anyway, Rin also introduces four students, representatives of the Three Great Academies, who have come to aid Sensei and the GSC. They are, essentially, the starters.

Before it goes to battle, however, Sensei boots up the tablet using a passcode of ominous origin. It came to them in a dream (?).

And then an AI helper comes out!

Behold Arona! The AI of the tablet and adorable widdle babby who you can actually headpat. But that comes later.

Now you may see the guns and think "well damn, that is surprising" and/or "these girls are gonna die?"

Well.

Once they step out to meet the thugs that Wakamo rallied for max destruction, Yuuka gets shot in the head...and complains that hollow point bullets hurt like hell.

That's right, just about every inhabitant of Kivotos is bulletproof.

Except Sensei.

Fucked, innit?

Anywho, Sensei decides to use the tablet to give tactical support to the four girls at the front, who actually succeed in subduing Wakamo...

Except not really, she ran off into the tower to look what she can wreck with bombs.

She sees Sensei.

"Come here often?"

She excuses herself and bolts, which brings up several questions. All of which are answered in the Valentine's event.

And by me here and now: this girl fell in love at first sight and promises to be a good girl for a crumb of affection by the, apparently, only adult in Kivotos!

And that's how Sensei establishes themselves, as well as the club called Schale they helm from then on.

vergil: the side grip technique arose during the warlord era, when yan xishan’s soldiers produced an unlicensed copy of the mauser broomhandle, the shanxi type 17, in a much larger cartridge - the .45 ACP, shared with the unlicensed thompson submachine guns they also used at the time - and imported large numbers of the mauser m712 and its spanish copies when they were invaded by japan. both weapons could only be used firing sideways, or else the huge recoil would spray the gun straight up, or the fired cases would fall back into the gun and jam it. but when held sideways the recoil would shift accordingly, which is actually highly effective as it can sweep a room out.

I meant to send this a week ago when you posted about the guns of RDR2 but (and apologies that this is going to be a bit of a ramble) as annoying as the choices are from a historic perspective I can understand why they went with a lot of them from a “we made the choices on some of these almost a decade ago and it would be weird not to have them in the prequel and also we’re making a game that’s more about being a western than a historical piece” perspective. Like the Volcanic pistol makes no sense in either RDR but it definitely looks cool, and using the M91/38 Carcano instead of a Spanish Mauser or even a plain old M91 Carcano makes sense in a meta textual “let’s pretend we’ve got the same constraints as an Italian production company’s armorer working on a western in the late 1960s” sense. And to be fair to them, they did change the C96 to a much more accurate version instead of the M712 that was in RDR1.

To be honest the most egregious thing gun-wise to me in RDR2 is that they maintain fidelity to the way the guns they chose to feature actually functioned in 99.9% of the game and then in a single late-game cutscene they have John Marston magically flip out the cylinder of his Colt SAA to check if it’s still loaded.

These are my all time favourite flowers!!

I have these all over my island as i just think they are so beautiful and well made, they look so natural!! They are designed by Iltsu of Melionas, their creator code is MA-4471-1720-0257.

Not only does this creator have a wide variety of flower and mushroom designs available (my favourites are the yellow and the orange variations!) but they also have a number of wooden/stone stepping log designs as well as sand drawings!!! This is also an amazing creator when it comes to signs, from “no running”, “please water my flowers”, “learn something new” etc signs!!

Character descriptions of my main three OCs from my and @aasimar-cleric’s shared post-series FMAB fanfic universe. Possible villain descriptions will follow once I iron out a couple more. Apologies to Arakawa and any other creators I rip off/pay homage to during this process.

Pierce Maes Mustang -

The adopted son of Roy Mustang and Riza Hawkeye, Pierce is both a skilled soldier with plenty of combat experience and a well-learned diplomat with friends in very high places.

However, his cocky attitude and willingness to go above and beyond for causes he believes are just hide a devasting truth: Pierce is one of the last Homunculi, the second Wrath to be precise, and was intended as a back-up should Father have need of a replacement puppet leader. Kept in alchemically induced suspended animation for decades when he proved too unruly for his masters, he was awoken as a last ditch attempt to reinstate control during the chaos of the Promised Day but promptly killed his captors before escaping and eventually encountering his future adoptive parents. He is riddled with guilt and shame over his true nature and the actions of the first to carry the mantle of Wrath, leading some to believe that his bravado and cockiness are actually masks for a death wish of sorts.

Taught to fight for what is right and to be a compassionate leader that can make tough calls if needed, Pierce currently heads the 501st Amestrian Rifleman’s Battalion, a black ops/military intelligence operation dedicated to stopping Alchemical threats and Promised Day level events before they happen. He has taken a particular interest in events occurring in Xing, both as atonement for the first Wrath’s actions towards the current Emperor and because of his own increasingly personal connection to the wayward princess of the Han clan. His preferred weapons are a pair of silver military sabers enhanced with Lightning Alchemy and a Mauser M712 Machine Pistol.

James “Red” Redfield -

James Redfield, Red to his friends, was once one of the most promising soldiers Amestris ever knew. He was a legendary Military Police Officer in South City with a reputation for being pretty straight laced and having a nose for corruption. However, that sort of reputation brings you enemies and, with the upheaval surrounding the aftermath of the Promised Day, the hostility reached a crescendo. After getting too close to a crooked superior’s gunrunning operation, James came home on evening to find his family dead in a staged murder and himself the prime suspect.

Stripped of his rank and faced with life imprisonment if not outright execution, James went on the run. Years passed and the despair led James to whatever bars would still tolerate him and dangerously close to the criminal underworld he fought so hard against. However, one day, he was approached by Pierce, who had been bringing together top military minds for his 501st battalion and was willing to help James prove his innocence in exchange for James lending his skills to the battalion. Hesitant at first, James took the offer after gaining Pierce’s help in attaining justice for his family.

Nowadays, James finds himself as the 501st’s second in command, lending his tactical brilliance and combat skills to whatever situation demands them. While he resents his increasing status as the “babysitter” of the battalion, he also adores them all as a second family and is willing to lend a helping hand or gentle push when needed. In combat, he prefers to use either his fists or a Winchester 1897 Shotgun.

Xiaoyu Han -

As the eldest princess of the Han clan, Xiaoyu Han was groomed from birth to lead her clan to glory, honor, and the Imperial throne room. Her often different way of viewing the world caused friction with her tutors and especially her family, with the sole exception of her slightly younger and always supportive sister, and she seemed rather ill-suited to the cutthroat nature of Xingese politics but she got on well enough during her younger years.

At age 11, however, things fell apart. One night, Xiaoyu found herself kidnapped by an ancient death cult calling itself the Court of Owls. Over the next decade, the Court, which intended to steer Xingese politics to fit their fundamentalist views, molded her into their assassin, the Talon, with a powerful combination of brainwashing and drugs. She became an instrument of the Court’s Will with an ever increasing body count to her name, expertise in everything from bladed weapons to the applications of medicinal Alkahestry in regards to torture, and an unquestioning loyalty to her masters. However, her Masters’ control would be eventually eroded as she began to question if the people she had been killing were truly evil as the Court had programmed her to believe. This culminated with her participation in the Court’s all-out attack on the Yao imperial government, during which she came into contact with Pierce who had been there to investigate the Court’s murder of an Amestrian official. A bloody duel and his decision to spare her began to eat away at her brainwashing and, in the aftermath, she decided to renounce the Court and join with the people who had truly saved her. The only member of her family she keeps in contact with is her sister Ai Mei who she adores and is the only one of her family she doesn’t see as a coward or a Court sympathizer.

Currently, Xiaoyu serves as the 501st’s top recon and sabotage specialist, being able to use her assassin training to her advantage in high risk infiltrations. In fact, she is so good at her job that her mere existence has become something of an urban legend among the battalion, with the rare few who see her outside operations being those she deems trustworthy and the brave few who have approached her for friendship. Unfortunately, her residual Talon programming has caused her to replace blind loyalty to the Court with a rather unhealthy romantic fixation on Pierce, her “beloved”. She has taken great strides in correcting that and as of now the two are trying to pursue a more normal relationship. In battle, she uses a pair of rope dart blades, a pair of Tekko-Kagi blade guantlets, and a Jian short sword
