National Hot Fudge Sundae Day
Fudge and ice cream, one of the greatest combos in the world: head to an ice cream parlor, or make your own tasty, creamy, sweet hot fudge sundae at home.
It’s hard to go wrong with ice cream—no matter what you do with it, it seems like it always results in something delicious. Ice cream sandwiches, ice cream cake, milkshakes, ice cream fondue…need we say more? And one of the few things that can make ice cream even better than it is thick, hot, sweet fudge. Fudge and ice cream…if that’s not a reason for celebration, what is?
Learn About National Hot Fudge Sundae Day
National Hot Fudge Sundae Day gives us all the perfect excuse to indulge in this delicious, sweet treat. It is all about celebrating the invention of this dessert, and what better way to celebrate than eating a sundae?
A sundae is simply an ice cream dessert that usually consists of one or more scoops of ice cream, which then has a syrup or sauce on top, with a number of other toppings added. This could be maraschino cherries, peanuts, marshmallows, whipped cream, or sprinkles. We also see a lot of dessert parlours adding chopped up chocolate bars to sundaes today, with everything from popping candy to candyfloss incorporated into the latest inventions.
Of course, a Hot Fudge Sundae needs to have two critical ingredients: hot fudge sauce and ice cream. After this, there are plenty of different adaptions of the treat. Some people add walnuts to their sundae, in order to give the dessert a good crunch.
You can also add fudge pieces or some chocolate drops. If you want to add some fruit into the mix, cherries are often teamed with hot fudge sundaes. Or, why not add some delicious and gooey chunks of brownie? The choice is yours! That’s what makes a sundae so great; it is all about putting your favorite ingredients into one big dessert glass and enjoying the magic it creates!
Record-breaking sundaes
If you thought you were the biggest fan of sundaes, you may have to concede defeat when you read about some of these World Records! For example, the longest sundae was created in March of 2018. It measured more than 4,549 feet long! It was created in College Station at the Spirit of Texas festival.
The most expensive sundae can also be found in the United States. If you are willing to pay $25,000, you can enjoy the world’s most expensive sundae in New York City at Serendipity 3. The owner of Serendipity 3, Stephen Bruce, teamed up with Euphoria, a luxury jeweler, in order to create the Frozen Haute Chocolate sundae.
The sundae included 28 different cocoas, with 14 of the world’s most exotic and expensive cocoas. The dessert, which is spelled with two Rs, is served in a goblet that is lined with edible gold, and it is infused with five grams of edible 23-karat gold. It is then topped with whipped cream, which has more gold on the top. One the side, you will get a La Madeline au Truffle from Knipschildt Chocolatier. This sells for $2,600 per pound.
History of the National Hot Fudge Sundae Day
Why we call sundaes, sundaes is not precisely known, though it is probably simply connected to the fact that ice cream with nuts, sprinkles, fruit, whipped cream and various syrups used to be a treat reserved only for the weekends.
Sundaes first appeared in the early 1900s, and with a few years there were already countless variations of it, such as the Robin Hood sundae, Cocoa Caramel sundae, Black Hawk sundae, Angel Cake sundae, Cherry Dip sundae, Cinnamon Peak sundae, Opera sundae, Fleur D’Orange sundae, Knickerbocker sundae, Tally-Ho Sundae, Bismarck and George Washington sundae, to name but a few.
American-style fudge was first made in Baltimore, Maryland, in 1886, and its popularity soon expanded.
These two delicious foodstuffs were first combined in 1906 at C.C. Browns, an ice cream parlour on Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles, and the hot fudge sundae was born. Today, even Google recognizes this holiday as an official holiday!
How to celebrate National Hot Fudge Sundae Day
Are you ready to give your taste buds the treat of their lives? If so, National Hot Fudge Sundae Day could be your new favorite holiday! To celebrate it, you could go out to an ice cream parlor to enjoy one, or you could make one yourself.
One fun way to celebrate hot fudge sundae day is to get your friends around and you can all create your own hot fudge sundaes together. Create a station with lots of different toppings, from brownies and popcorn to sprinkles and marshmallows.
You can then all have a lot of fun together making your own creations. This is a great way to spend time with those you love while doing something a bit different to the norm!
So are you ready to celebrate this deliciously sweet little holiday? We know we are!

First Kiss (Race 2)
A strollonso AU where 18 year old rookie Lance Stroll falls helplessly in love with the notoriously mean world champion. (1.4k words, no warnings) [@v3lnys]
last part - masterlist - next part
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Quali came to an end once again, the feeling slightly tamer than the first time as Lance pulled back into his side of the garage, Nico not far behind.
He was slightly disappointed he qualified p10 but it'll be fine as long as he can actually finish this race (and hopefully get points for the team this time.)
He heard Nico talking to his engineer on the other side of the garage and decided to go over, not having much to do on his side.
"Seriously, the wheels locked up like twice. You were watching and I know you noticed so the fact that you're ignoring the issues is bullshit-"
Maybe not the best time to stand around.
He decided instead of hanging around with Nico he'd just walk around the paddock, his race suit hanging by his hips as he walked by the other teams garages, seeing how busy everyone else on the paddock was. He could tell some people were quick to go home but he wasn't ever in a rush to get back to his hotel room, it was usually boring anyway.
"Ah, Lancito, I was just looking for you" There it is. The voice Lance looks forward to hearing as soon as the race week starts, and most likely the reason he decides to stay back as late as he does
"Nando, Hi" He flashed a smile at the long haired driver, stoping in his tracks so they could walk together
"Nando?" The shorter man echoed, catching up to Lance as they both continued walking, steps in sync as they made their way around the paddock
"Well, I figured it was only fair for me to give you a name since you gave me one" Lance nodded as he spoke, afraid the older man had a problem with it, it was quite childish, he wasn't sure why he even called him that, Fernando worked just fine, it was a silly nickname
"I like it, Sounds good coming from you." Fernando smiled up at Lance, wrapping an arm around his shoulder to pull him down to his level "Guess we are friends now, eh? Coworkers do not usually have special names for eachother"
Lance nodded again, he supposed Nando was right. He turned to look at him as he continued to speak, rambling about many things but all Lance could think about was how good he looked. He'd never really examined the Spaniard like he was doing now, sunglasses propped up on his head, holding his hair out of his face, it seemed like he had just shaved that morning, the shadow of his facial hair barely visible, his lips curved slightly upwards as he talked, his hair curling in every direction but somehow he made the messy look seem intentional
"What hotel do they have you staying at, Lancito?" Was the first thing Lance really heard after spending god knows how long just staring at Fernando. How embarrassing.
"Uhm- Mövenpick? I think, Otmar has my keycard somewhere." Lance hummed, having lost the keycard to the hotel in Bahrain Otmar had decided it was best to put Nico and Lance in the same room and "look after" Lances keycard until they headed back.
"Ah, I see. I didn't realize they'd put drivers in different hotels."
"If you miss my company so much you're welcome to come along, you know I get special priviliges because of my dad" Lance joked, at this point he was so used to people belittling him to just being his fathers son that he had started to do it as well
"Ah, don't say that Lancito" Fernando almost scolded him, moving his hand to tap the back of his head "You forget I'm world champion, I could buy another hotel ticket if I wanted to."
Lance laughed, nodding in agreement, there wasn't anything stopping Fernando from doing anything really, after he left the paddock he could go wherever, do whatever, it's not like he signed away his soul to F1 so moving hotels wouldn't be a big deal "I know, I know, but if you ever want free stuff, Mr. World Champion, you know who to ask" Lance hummed, taking his turn of having his arm around Fernandos shoulder "These are the perks of being friends with a nepotism baby"
"I'll take your word for it then" Fernando laughed, accepting the change of positions, it wasn't very comfortable reaching up to drape an arm around Lances shoulder anyways.
A comfortable silence fell over them, neither feeling the need to add anything more, it was odd, how well they had clicked. They got along better together than either of them did with their teammates but no one was complaining. Lance liked having someone to go to outside of the Racing Point garage and Fernando liked having someone he felt like this towards, whatever "this" was. They were snapped back to reality when Otmar finally found Lance
"God kid, I was looking for you. Nico's about to head back so I figured now was a good time to give you the key" He pulled out a think black card and handed it to Lance "Don't lose it this time, alright?" He asked, not letting to just yet.
"Alright, I'll attach it to my arm, okay?" Lance joked, turning back to Fernando "Think about it, really, if your hotel gets boring you're more than welcome at mine." He said before making his way out of the paddock, catching up to Nico so they could leave together
Odd was all Otmar thought, he didn't realize his driver had gotten so close to Fernando, he'd thought maybe it was just press, or maybe some plan the Spaniard had, but he had nothing to gain from staying late and just sitting next to him.
Lance tried not to be disappointed when night came and went and Fernando had decided not to come, it was silly, but a part of him was looking forward to seeing him outside of the paddock, outside of the blue and yellow.
They were so busy before the race that Lance hadn't even managed to catch a glimpse of the Spaniard let alone talk to him, before he knew it interviews were over and he was in his car, lined up in the fifth row, Nico barely behind him.
Fernando was right in saying Malaysia was going to treat him better, he had managed to make up three places and actually get points for his team in his second grand prix.
It felt great, even though it wasn't a podium like Fernando had gotten getting points waa a big deal for the rookie (driver and team).
The debrief went smoothly considering how both Nico and Lance finished the race with no major problems, as they gathered their things and the team started to leave the garage one by one Lance couldn't help but notice the blue in the corner of his eye. He turned his head and smiled when he confirmed it was in fact Fernando
"Good-" Lance started, trying to beat Fernando to congratulating eachother was proving to be difficult
"You did great, Lancito" Fernando commented, walking into the garage now that it was practically empty "Your overtakes are pretty decent for a nepotism baby, eh?"
Lance laughed, hitting Fernandos arm "Guess you did pretty good for a world champ then, huh?" It was nice, the banter they had, if anyone else joked with him jow Fernando does he was sure he'd take it the wrong way but with how Fernandos treated him since they met he had no doubt in his mind that every jab he made towards him was lighthearted.
"Any plans before Australia, Lancito?" Right, Lance had forgotten there wasn't another race for two weeks
"I'm not sure, I always end up somewhere though" He laughed, leaning on the counter behind him, using his hands to prop himself up "How about you, where are you going, Nando?"
"Me and Mark, Mark Webber, were planning on spending the break in Australia together"
Right, he forgot Fernando was close to Mark, the driver who's seat he took.
"Could you tell him I'm sorry?" Lance hesitated to speak, wondering if the Australian was mad at him for ending his career early
"He doesn't mind, trust me, if he wasn't okay with ending his career he would've signed with someone else." Fernando consoled the younger, patting his shoulder after he finished "Don't worry your pretty little head, alright?"
Lance laughed, shaking his head at the comment in efforts to ignore the pink tint covering his face "Alright, Nando."

"More than 150 workers whose labor underpins the AI systems of Facebook, TikTok and ChatGPT gathered in Nairobi on Monday [May 1st, 2023] and pledged to establish the first African Content Moderators Union, in a move that could have significant consequences for the businesses of some of the world’s biggest tech companies.
The current and former workers, all employed by third party outsourcing companies, have provided content moderation services for AI tools used by Meta, Bytedance, and OpenAI—the respective owners of Facebook, TikTok and the breakout AI chatbot ChatGPT. Despite the mental toll of the work, which has left many content moderators suffering from PTSD, their jobs are some of the lowest-paid in the global tech industry, with some workers earning as little as $1.50 per hour.
As news of the successful vote to register the union was read out, the packed room of workers at the Mövenpick Hotel in Nairobi burst into cheers and applause, a video from the event seen by TIME shows. Confetti fell onto the stage, and jubilant music began to play as the crowd continued to cheer.
The establishment of the Content Moderators Union is the culmination of a process that began in 2019, when Daniel Motaung, a Facebook content moderator, was fired from his role at the outsourcing company Sama after he attempted to convene a workers’ union called the Alliance. Motaung, whose story was first revealed by TIME, is now suing both Facebook and Sama in a Nairobi court. Motaung traveled from his home in South Africa to attend the Labor Day meeting of more than 150 content moderators in Nairobi, and addressed the group.
“I never thought, when I started the Alliance in 2019, we would be here today—with moderators from every major social media giant forming the first African moderators union,” Motaung said in a statement. “There have never been more of us. Our cause is right, our way is just, and we shall prevail. I couldn’t be more proud of today’s decision to register the Content Moderators Union.”
TIME’s reporting on Motaung “kicked off a wave of legal action and organizing that has culminated in two judgments against Meta and planted the seeds for today’s mass worker summit,” said Foxglove, a non-profit legal NGO that is supporting the cases, in a press release.
Those two judgments against Meta include one from April in which a Kenyan judge ruled Meta could be sued in a Kenyan court—following an argument from the company that, since it did not formally trade in Kenya, it should not be subject to claims under the country’s legal system. Meta is also being sued, separately, in a $2 billion case alleging it has failed to act swiftly enough to remove posts that, the case says, incited deadly violence in Ethiopia...
Workers who helped OpenAI detoxify the breakout AI chatbot ChatGPT were present at the event in Nairobi, and said they would also join the union. TIME was the first to reveal the conditions faced by these workers, many of whom were paid less than $2 per hour to view traumatizing content including descriptions and depictions of child sexual abuse. ...Said Richard Mathenge, a former ChatGPT content moderator... “Our work is just as important and it is also dangerous. We took an historic step today. The way is long but we are determined to fight on so that people are not abused the way we were.”
-via TIME, 5/1/23
[Note: In addition to Big Tech outsourcing and exploiting workers for social media and AI moderation, many companies also exploit and vastly underpay mostly overseas workers to straight up pretend to be AI. I'm really glad issues around this are starting to get attention AND UNIONS because exploited overseas labor is so often the backbone of AI--or even the "AI" itself.]

Warst du schon in Ägypten? Wenn ja, wo? Würdest du es weiterempfehlen? Bist du Team Schnorcheln oder Team Tauchen?   Ich wünsche dir einen wunderschönen Sonntag!   Ort: Ägypten, El Quseir

I believe all are in Switzerland (Mövenpick umbrella) but the rooster clip is definitely taken from the Rigi mountain.
