I do have a question for the Magus Archives, tho! How does The Lonely situation work? If I remember right, the different Fears are different factions of magic. Then what about The Lonely with Peter Lukas and Martin?

Not a confusing question at all! My answer may be, but we'll see. So- Martin and Peter are Knights who got touched by the Lonely, but they can't control it to the same extent that witches can.

They are also more likely to get 'negative side effects' (i.e. getting lost in the Lonely) by using it than witches would.

This is not based on their canon powers, I just can't see Peter as a witch (even if his powers would make him one), and I love the idea of him and Martin being knights serving Seer Mages ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

hi yall!! ive just about recovered from a hectic day at london pride (very awesome, i got barricade for the parade for most of it, my throat hurts from cheering it was very good) and i thought about the archives having a fun day at pride too because my brain is rotted (also these r just my headcanons please don't whack me for these or what you think i should believe (outside the objective canon truth) i beg) (also i didnt colorpick some of these so .)

if you'll just allow me to get on my soapbox a bit about pride:

i've only been to one pride previously in 2019 and didnt go again because of covid and other things, so this is the first proper time ive been out to pride with freinds freshly graduated settled in my trans and queerness bla bla and it was just absolutely amaaazing....just to witness so many kinds of people marching for a common sense of unity was so brilliant! you also get to see how much of your community is spread through institutions that often take us for granted like the NHS to name one, or how queer people are fighting for healthcare- i saw so many marching squads for so many medical causes, and what warmed my heart was that there were so many community elders marching in the parade, and what have you! there were also little squads for residential areas and stuff and it was so refreshing to see a city usually so divided come together........weeehhh

just to see it made me feel weepy after i had taken a moment to get home and decompress- it's really another thing entirely to feel like you really do belong somewhere! in the words of one of my favourite songs- do try to make a little birdhouse in your soul for your people- get people together! spread culture! promote diversity! advocate for causes! love! cheer! hug! i love you!!!

My Ranking On: How Good The Magnus Archive Character's Are At Cooking

Gerard - Gerry has no idea what to do in front of a stove. No one has ever taught him to cook, and he doesn't care enough to learn. He lives off microwavable mac and cheese cups and cheap fast food, which is just fine by him regardless of how concerned Gertrude is about his organs.

Daisy - Daisy could make...something with a stove. She just chooses not to because she doesn't like cooking when microwavable meals are right there. Because of how little she cooks her skills are...rusty to say the least. She can make a half-decent grilled cheese though.

Gertrude - Gertrude can and the very rare occasion does make small meals like scrambled eggs. However, much like Gerard and Daisy, she prefers fast food and easy to make meals. In theory she could make a decent large meal if she had a recipe and some spare time to make mistakes, but in practice she never cooks.

John - John can and does make small meals. He's never really liked cooking, but he does sometimes make a small plate of stir-fry or something. All things considered, his food's pretty decent. It's just not great because he rushes through the cooking process to get back to whatever he was doing. But, I mean, it's edible.

Melina - Melina is a big "make a sandwich or throw some pasta on the stove and call it night" type of girl. She could make a good meal if she had a recipe, but cooking's never really been her thing enough for her to put a ton of effort into the craft. However, if Georgie asked her to make her something you can bet that she could make a five star meal.

Basira - Basira cooks most nights and her food is consistently good. Daisy is over at her house a lot in the evenings hoping to get a meal and eat together.

Martin - Martin cooks almost every night. It's one of his hobbies and he knows well what type of foods pair best with what after his research into what foods pair best with tea spiraled a bit. He can make a REALLY good comfort dish.

Elias - Elias cooks most night, and with all his years of being alive, that means he's a pretty skilled in the art of making food. He either makes a full five star meal with an appetizer, a main course, and a dessert, or microwaves ramen noodles. There's no middle ground.

Peter - Cooking is one of those hobbies that is significantly more enjoyable in solitude, so of course he loves it. He cooks multiple times nearly every day as it's something for him to do that doesn't involve other people. No one will ever taste his food, but man is it good.

Sasha - Sasha is a fantastic cook. She's the CEO of finding a recipe online and then making it his own. She's literally never made a bad dish in her entire life and she does brag to John about her ability not to burn things.

Tim - Tim is great at cooking on an instinctual level. He doesn't even need to have a recipe to make a five star meal that will change the trajectory of his friends taste buds forever. It's a gift...and a curse given how much the people around him hope he'll bring food to every gathering.

Peter must be so fucking pleased with the fact Jon went into the coffin on his own, because you could tell Martin was slipping, thinking about reaching out to the others, to trust them (well mostly Jon) not to react rashly

But now every time Martin thinks about it or whether Jon is really so much a danger to himself he can be like:

well if you want him to just walk into the realm of one of the other powers ON HIS OWN with, let's be real, 2/10 of a plan, be my guest and tell him the truth

And like what is Martin supposed to say about that because Yep Jon sure Did That!! MHMM!!

Other notes: I love that Daisy is the one to finally reach out to Jon and cut him a break. It makes sense because she gets it the most, being this close to one of the fears, worrying about turning into a monster etc + trauma bonding.

But someone has to deal with Jon now apparently being super ready to throw his life away for The Cause, you know he's gonna fuck that up Sam Winchester style...

"Jon? Jon, that's familiar..." Peter snapped his fingers in revelation. "That's your archivist, isn't it? The one you're always on about."

"He is. and I'm afraid Martin is rather taken with him."

"No-- Elias!" He hissed.

"Taken with?"

"Elias, please." Martin begged through his teeth.

"I thought you didn't care about what I know."

"I care about what you say!"

"Scared to tell father, are we?" 

"No! I--" Martin sunk in his chair, closing his eyes with a frustrated huff.

"Hold on, you aren't saying that Martin..." Peter began.

"I'm afraid so."

The sailor almost laughed in sheer disbelief of, or maybe it was lighthearted repulsion to, the idea of Martin fancying someone. "Well, what's the man like?"

"Cold. Distant, isolating... You can see why I thought they'd work well together."
