Dareios, for @dorkiethedork ! Triton/drow (wizard/monk) is one of the coolest combos out there, and rendering the really iridescent skin was simply so fun~

fortune – Untitled bit from the same WIP as Past Perfect

“So ... you do tarot.” “Yep.” Mo acknowledged her new roomie’s not-question without turning from the spread of cards in front of her. “And it looks like you’re pretty serious about it.” This time her eyes did shift, flicking to the dozen decks and several books on the subject loading down one shelf of her tiny dorm bookcase. “Also true.” “But you say you’re not a fortune teller?” At last Mo turned to face Aihe, looking up at her lounging on her bunk. “I am not, no.” (Strong, assertive features, warm brown skin, bright brown eyes, one hand playing with the pounamu pendant her-- sigh –boyfriend gave her) “Why not? I kinda thought that’s what tarot is for.” Mo snorted, then gave the Maori girl a smile to soften it. “That’s what many people think. But if you need a name for what I do, call me a soothsayer.” Aihe’s smooth brow furrowed. “Isn’t that just another word for--?” “Nope.” Mo picked a card from the top of her deck and twirled it in her fingers. “Fortune telling implies telling someone about their future. But sooth just means truth.” “Oh.” (softly curved lips pressing the edge of her glass as she took a long sip of the wine they were sharing) “So you’re a truth speaker.” “I try to be.”

“And Laura--” He looked up and met her eyes. “--if you ever do need to talk, I'm here.” The dam very nearly broke then, with her hand in his and her vision filled with the tenderest look she'd ever seen on his face. It nearly broke, but she knew that if she started talking now, she would wind up shrieking her agony and fear and rage into his shoulder. His shoulder was strong; she wanted to trust it so badly ... This time she was the one who dropped her gaze to their hands. “Thank you,” she whispered. Those large hands surrounding her own squeezed briefly, then released. “Do you need anything else? A meal, perhaps?” She just stopped herself from shuddering. She'd had to take something in preparation for tomorrow's tests, something her stomach hadn't liked. “No, not right now, thanks. I'm fine.”

“There’s no right answer, is there?” His voice sounded thick. “No matter who it was, they wouldn’t be worth your parents’ lives. And if there was no one, that’s worse.” The contempt in her eyes landed another telling blow. “Too bleeding right,” she sneered as she stalked past him. “Do what you’re going to do. I don’t care anymore.” Reg’s gaze shifted between Dare and Mo desperately, the strain of loyalties and uncertainty plain in his tween-aged face. Dare stood silent, only turning when he felt Mo rebound off his own ward, the barrier he’d set between the three of them and the door. No energy discharged to shock her, but the momentum in her stride turned into an equal and opposite reaction, knocking her to the floor. She regained her feet and reached out, touching the spot where his spell scintillated after her impact. Whipping around, she fixed him with an outraged scowl. Dare met her gaze and held it. “I know you don’t care,” he whispered. “But I do.” Mo hunched her shoulders, both fists clenched and trembling now, the card bending. She ground out three words in absolute, single-minded fury. “Take. It. Down.”

Still with my restrictions of drawing everyone before they go into their first quest, I wanted to do Glory a bit more justice, so I decided that the racing suits are just somewhat feminine on everyone. Also fuck having her hair buzzed, she gets a pixie cut now <3

Rubin doesn't get a cool costume because he dies before going in RIP. Also that helmet is way too small for him RIP

If you look at Dareios' uniform, that's actually the same one that Delta and Kyra are also wearing, but on him it's the most readable imo. Also I gave him his sable even though he doesn't actually have it in the beginning, just because I think it's an iconic weapon.

The reason the Multiple Choice uniforms are green is because it's the color to Jade's door! I feel like Jade looks more and more like Barbie the more I draw her...

Sora <3 <3 <3 @ash-etherwood started the chubby Sora train and I'm forever on board. It just became a permanent ficture in my brain

I already touched on June a little when I did her brother but I was very happy to draw her. Though I wish her freckles were a bit more prominent here.

Car's outfit wasn't really described in the quest, so I went with a combo of what would fit Fir's kind of strict mom as well as trying to compliment Caravel's vibe. Also again with the keepsake that shows up later but was too iconic not to include

And Tave again, with longer hair and some additional trauma, but hey! At least he still has both of his hands. I actually started drawing the prostetic for a second before I remembered that he still has his hand at this point. Good for him.

A Timeline of Catalyst LLC. Part 2, Post-Founding, Pre-Story

Part 1 here, in case anyone curious missed it

Anyway, without further ado, here it is. Content Warnings: CW mentions of Death, CW mentions of Suicide, CW mentions of Mental Health issues

Year 1: Contract with R Corp signed, energy sources from R Corp povided in exchange for Catalyst LLC paying them back in either employees or money. That year, the military and security branch of Catalyst LLC formed, with squads being sent periodically to R Corp for security purposes.

Year 2: Dareios is killed and a 12 year old Lazarus is put in critical condition after the first Distortion appears during an experiment conducted by Benyamin. Nobody truly understood the significance of this event until much later. The first two Qliphah; Ga'ashekelah, and Thagirion 1 are made within a week or so after the event.

Around three weeks after Lazarus dies, which happened on the fourth Thursday of April, Yesh experiences a mental breakdown and locks himself in his personal quarters for the last 8 months of the year, being occasionally brought food and water and other such things.

Year 3: At the beginning of the year, Ga'ashekelah- who I will be calling Dareios for convenience sake- snaps at Yesh and forcibly removes him from his quarters, talking some sense into him with the assistance of Durga. Modern versions of Vitae and Endorphin are created by Benyamin. Thagirion 1 begins showing first signs of the issues that would plague it for years to come.

Year 4: Durga dies away from the facility during a failed negotiation, saving several negotiators from being killed. Yesh puts her brain scan- which was made alongside several others, after he was removed from his quarters- to good use. The third Qliphah, Golachab, is made. Martha enters into a depression she never recovered from.

Year 5: Yesh, Dareios, and the other founding members of Catalyst LLC threaten to leave and report the company due to the dangerous and often illegal experiments that have been done over the past few years, and the deaths resulting from them.

Benyamin reveals that if they report him, they will also be held liable for what was occurring due to not reporting it sooner, due to an extremely archaic law he somehow drudged up. The company and its remaining founders remain intact. Thagirion 1 kills an employee for the first time.

Year 6: Martha kills herself as Thagirion 1's behavior continues to escalate somehow even further. Mara (different person from Martha just to clarify that it's not a typo) is shot down in alleyway on valentine's day and mangled beyond recognition by sustained gunfire long after she was dead. Zaccai becomes secluded and depressed, beginning a descent into madness, unable to get over Mara's death and traumatized by the sight of her corpse. Thagirion 2 made.

Year 7: Zaccai kills himself. Gamaliel and Samael made. Benyamin makes further breakthroughs with the River and begins to purposefully create distortions just to see what happens.

Year 8: Junia dies in an attempt to stop Benyamin from conducting the final experiment that would seal the fate of the world by attempting to open a direct rift to the River. Her intervention stops it halfway and closes it, but it still unleashes a slowly mutating force that would go on to envelop The Old City entirely in due time. Nehemoth made.

Year 9: Nearly every Wing, company, and corporation, as well as many of the non-business related factions, move underground via combining the technology and Singularities of various Wings. Some civilian survivors moved underground due to rescue operations done by remnants of militaries and law enforcement, with backup from Fixers.

Side effects of the use of singularities en masse are noticed, mostly pertaining to the teleportation of buildings underground and spacial restructuring of the underground, which caused unusual problems, to say the least; things such as minor (i.e. think at most a week or two behind the rest of the city) time dilation and highly expanded building interiors (that are far larger than the buildings are on the outside), both of which notably occurring inside all buildings owned by Catalyst LLC.

The New City is successfully established.

Year 10: Final rescue operations conducted until it is determined that all surviving civilians left behind (there weren't many) were successfully rescued, or abandoned due to being in the process of distorting during their rescue. Rescue workers have a monument erected in their honor, in the center of the New City.

Benyamin kills himself and leaves the company to Yesh, but not before changing the goal of the company and creating Angeline and Thaumiel. Yesh begins the long road to fixing the mistakes of a deadman.

Year +0: It's noticed that, though reduced in number and far rarer, it is still possible to Distort. Thankfully, however, unlike how it was on the surface, distortion is not nearly a guarantee.
