An Alastor headcanon!

I was thinking abt al's fuckass bob one day and suddenly an idea popped into my head.

So we know he has ears, and those likely aren't made from hair material but fur, those ears are fur.

Soooo what if when he came in hell his ugly side hairlocks came with his ears. Those locks are also fur. They grew with his ears. The only real hair remaining is his hair thing swept forward.

And to make it even funnier that fur doesn't grow so he is cursed with horrible hair for all eternity.

Bc this deer that cares so much abt his appearence (dude went to the tailor asap when a little part of his coat was ripped off) has that hair willingly? Nah, he has no choice but to suffer te faith of ugly hair.

I imagine when he tries to cut it it just immediately grows back, just pops back into existence.

I actually really like Alastor's fuck-ass bob. I think he makes it work.

Someone actually pointed out a while ago that Alastor's haircut is called a "shingle bob" and it originated in the 1920's. His hairstyle is 100% accurate to his time-period, which could be a reason why he's never changed it and why he's comfortable wearing it.

Personally, I love his funky little hair cut.

Yeah, sometimes it looks a little weird, especially from the back.

(And honestly, it doesn't even look that bad from this angle, but I may just be used to his haircut by now)

i finally created a sonadow fankid took me long enough

Name: Sasha

Info abt how she came to be:

GUN was getting tired of their plans constantly getting intercepted by sonic and his pesky friends so thy decided to create a creature capable of protecting GUN from them with sonic and shadow their DNA

once she was in the make GUN kinda screwed up in her designing progress which resulted in her having a lot of species mixed into her appearance

fun fact: the reason she is brown is because that was the favorite color of the guy in charge of designing her

luckily the poor girl got rescued by sonic when she was sent out onto her first mission (she was 4 at that time)

the black arms DNA in shadow his DNA got through to her

she has a demon form that is kinda like her super form but ya know still demon

General info abt Sasha:

sexuality: aroace

touch averse

ambivert, likes to hang out but also has a social tax now and then

because she was ordered to do whatever she was told from young age she is quick to give into situations and socially not the best

the quiet girl

thinks before acting

got the habit to bottle up her emotions from sonic

some funny character traits: really likes acting, brutally honest even in the worst situations

her powers: for some reason she is an expert in magic and has retractable claws

note: character still in development so can be updated

Okay, so people wanted clarification on the art swap thing, so here's a quick list of "guidelines."

Welcome to the Sonic Fankid Swapmeet everyone!

I have no clue how long this thing is gonna last, but hey its a fun challenge so who cares.

1. Choose an artist to attack. It's preferred that they were part of the Showdown beforehand, as people unaware of the event might get confused. Doesn't mean you aren't allowed to, but please be weary. Spectators of the Showdown can attack their favorite participants if they'd like, however.

2. Characters drawn for these attacks should be fankid ocs. Preferably the ones used in the polls, but if the artist has other fankids, they are also fair game.

3. If you are attacked, it is expected you attack back, if only out of respect of the other artist's effort.

4. If you have attacked or been attacked previously, this doesn't prevent you from attacking other people as well. If you've got a ton of artists you want to support, send em attacks! There's no limit on attacks until the event kinda just dies off. After that point it'd be kinda weird to carry on. Unless you like drawing things for people. That's pretty cool of you.

5. Pin all associated posts with #Sonic Fankid Swapmeet and tag @sapphanimates

6. Do not reblog or tag new oc references with the swapmeet tag.

A conversation with @lyrarizi (thank you for that conversation) made me think about why certain topics relating to Alastor upset me. In particular when it comes to the idea of Alastor being redeemed through suffering.

Putting aside the fact as I have stated before that suffering doesn't create better people. The concept of breaking Alastor down so that he accepts help is something that works when talking about a character who has never needed to accept help before. For example, a person who was raised powerful and spoilt who views everyone as beneath them and doesn't believe that they should need help from them. That isn't Alastor's character based on what we've seen. Alastor was a mixed-race man who rose to become a successful radio host and serial killer in the 1920s. His ego is something he built by fighting his trauma and trying to take control of his destiny. He has worked hard to build himself so he doesn't have to ask for help. People who do that don't believe they can ask for help or trust people to not take advantage of any weakness shown. Further, a breakdown won't make him more likely to seek help because his real issue is that the only person he truly trusts is himself. Think of it this way, on some level if you thought the people around you would hurt you given the opportunity, would anything make you put yourself at their mercy? What kind of breakdown would make you think that it is okay to take the risk that they might do worse to you than whatever was currently hurting you?

My understanding of this was coloured by the fact that I once had a year or two when I had zero friends and didn't really speak to anyone due to a few betrayals. There were plenty of people who thought it was just me being arrogant. However, when you trust no one but yourself, more trauma doesn't fix it. It gets fixed by people who make you feel safe enough with them to slowly let down your guard.

I realised that part of my hatred of that concept came from personal past trauma. Before that conversation, I always thought that I disliked it purely because Alastor is my favourite I hate to see him suffer and some of the "fans" who talked about making him suffer sounded exactly like the people who hated him. However, I realized that it's way more personal.

During the period that I kept to myself to protect myself from any betrayal, there were plenty of people who thought that I was simply being arrogant and thought that something would happen that would force me to see I couldn't stand on my own. I did take pride in not needing them. No matter what happened my pride demanded that I solve it myself and I did. Even the fact that I have anxiety had no impact on this. I did what I needed to feel safe and that meant controlling everything that I could. I didn't end up making friends again because I needed them. It happened because someone needed me. In helping them, I was slowly able to realise that maybe it was okay for me to make friends again even though it did involve a lot of me watching them for how they would react to opportunities to betray me. I realised that I was putting that experience on Alastor. So when people said that he needed to be humbled through trauma so that he would be forced to redeem himself, I heard the people who used to say something similar about me during that period. Realising this has made me far less irritated when I see such posts cause I finally realised why I was getting so upset over people's opinions on, regardless of how much I love and adore him, a fictional character. I had thought I was immune to such behaviour but I wasn't. The point I am trying to make is that it is important to step back and take a look at why we feel a certain way. A little self-reflection goes a long way.
