Walking into the bar, Lyra hadn't even noticed anything above her, she'd blame her height, but it became very obvious something was going on by the noises behind her. Glancing back, her eyes widened as she watched Drew battle what she assumed was mistletoe but it wasn't confirmed until the plant landed on the ground between them. "I'm pretty sure you're supposed to mack under the mistletoe not fight it even though it is a parasite so...maybe you're doing the world a favor."

as the other makes their way through the doorway first without a single hitch, drew follows after without a second thought, before immediately getting hit in the face by the plant that was directly level to the face due to his height, scrunching up his nose and not at all thinking nor caring about the implications of mistletoe hung before them, only that it had practically wacked him in the face, causing him to decidedly push it away...for it to only come swinging back at him at full force. this continues back and forth for a moment, only getting more aggressive with each swing back, which ultimately ends with the small branch finally falling at his feet, with drew now looking down at it before back at the other. "oh. mistletoe..."

Lyra folded her hands neatly behind her back and gave a small disapproving sigh through her nose. Had any junior Marines seen Vice Admiral Smoker and Rear Admiral Hina drinking to excess? Any civilians, or worse, pirates? It was perfectly within regulations to enjoy a night on the town, but Lyra, being as old-fashioned as she was, did not approve of skirting the line of professionalism in public. Then again, G-5 Marines were a different breed. Very different from the Marines of her battleship. She should not pretend to understand their local culture.

She was sympathetic to an extent. Her misgivings over Vice Admiral Smoker not treading her personal standard of professionalism were not to destroy her compassion for him as a fellow Marine.

"Those cigars will make your headache worse. The nicotine will dehydrate you further," she answered him matter-of-factly, lowering her voice as he had requested. Her father smoked cigars every day... except for after nights of drinking wine.

She unfolded her hands from behind herself and walked across the office to the window, pulling the blinds down slowly to darken the room. "I know you don't need me to tell you this, but: drink water, sleep if you can, get food in your stomach."

Lyra left the window to walk across the newly dim room to the doorway. The wooden planks of the floorboards creaked beneath her, and she wondered if even that was too loud for him in this state.

She turned at the doorway to look at him once more. Those in their line of profession could be in a fight at any moment; his Marines needed him fit to lead them. Ah... she'll keep that to herself. There was no need to be patronizing. He knew what he was doing, and even hungover, Smoker was no doubt formidable.

"I hope you feel better soon, Vice Admiral," said Lyra, sincerely. "If you need anything from me, just call me on the Den Den. Battleship 71 will be moored here another two days before we get underway."

She left.

Muse & Blog Update:

While being on this weird hiatus I've been doing a lot of blog and muse work. There is a brand new muse page that is still a work in progress. But right now all are listed, and sorted by primary, secondary, test/new, and private. A few hurt me to say goodbye to, but unfortunately it was time.

I have a new URL and new theme/color scheme, and am hopefully going to work on some new promo stuff.

I've also overhauled my open starter tag. I will relink it as soon as it's finished, but right now I'm deleting ones from muses I've removed, will be reposting some oldies but (what i think are) goodies, and planning out new ones that I will be queuing up for the coming days. As always, they will be permanently open once released.

I have done a very large follower purge. Removed some long inactive accounts and some people that i've just never interacted with. Hoping putting some new content out there will help my will to write return more, and maybe find some new friends.

Lastly, I hope support continues to return my emails over this silly thing that @wynterlanding and I can no longer see each other on our dashboards. It had become increasingly discouraging that this is the only person it's happening to and considering how much we interact there should be no reason for it.

Thank you for sticking with me this long. This blog is going on 3 1/2 years old and I'm just so happy that I have and continue to make friends on this god forsaken hell site.

You came to Grimrose for the beach and stayed an extra week for the stories of the place. You never considered yourself to be interested in the tales Grimrose was peddling to people like you, but there was only so much to do here. Eventually, that museum in The Outskirts had to visited. You didn’t expect to meet a contained explosion of pink there, though. Her makeup was perfectly done and she looked like someone managed to bring a Barbie to life. How someone like that was working in a place like this, you had no idea. She was cute though. Figured you might as well shoot your shot, leave this little place with the story of a summer fling.

When the group she was helping left and she shuttled them on her way with a wave of manicured fingers, she turned to a notebook, stuffed with loose papers in black ink, the same ink that stained her hands. She held that book like it held the secrets of the world, like it was a lover. You messed with your hair, trying to look artfully disheveled. “Hey,” you greeted as you walked over. “What’re you working on? Your next great novel?”

She turned to you with a smile. “I’m charting historical Bigfoot sightings and then cross referencing them with UFO sightings! She's lived in Camp Half-blood since she was 9, when her dad died. She doesn't leave unless it's an emergency situation. She doesn't like the outside world that much. Chiron keeps wanting her to think about what she'll do as a career when she leaves camp, but the truth is that she doesn't want to. She's terrified of leaving the protected bubble that encompasses the camp.

Her favorite place in camp is the arts and crafts center.
