Celebrate the Holidays in Shadow Falls!

The winter holidays are typically a time of unity and peace. In an effort to promote positive coexistence between the species, The Mayor’s Office worked in tandem with the Citizens for Safety group to create a time where the town could find unity. Shadow Falls is hosting its first annual Winter Ball. The Winter Ball is an event wherein everyone in town is invited to a lavish ball in Town Hall to enjoy live entertainment, great food, dancing, and other season-based festivities.

Our Holiday event will begin December 27th and end at Midnight EST on January 4th. While the event runs a little over a week in real time, in gameplay, it only takes place over the course of one night, December 28th in gameplay. This event will be open to allow characters freedom to plot and for the opportunity for diverse starters. This event will focus on building character connections and character-development-based plots.

The tag for this event is #shadowwinterball18. So, please remember to tag all event related threads, pictures, outfits, etc. as such. Also, remember when posting a start to use both the event tag as well as the start tag. This event is not mandatory, so you don’t have to participate if you don’t want to, but we hope that you do. ACTIVITIES:

Guests Arrive:

Guests will arrive to the Town Hall exhibition hall wearing their consignment gowns and tuxedos from Grave Desires. Music will play while the open bar serves guests beverages of their choice, all food and beverage comped by the Hamlin Group as a holiday gift to the town. All participants can mingle and greet one another until the dinner begins.

When: 5 to 5:50 p.m.

Dinner Begins:

Due to size of the event, the dinner is served buffet-style and provided by Bésame. There will be a long display of food, with everything from crab-stuffed mushrooms, ginger-glazed Mahi Mahi, to tiramisu. Let your tastebuds explore this spread of gourmet cuisine!

When: 6:00 - 7:45 p.m.

DJ Booth:

Local disc jockey, DJ Strange, will provide music when the live band is not playing. She prides herself on selecting music that always fits the mood of the room and throws in songs people wouldn’t know but quickly become their favorites. She takes requests…sometimes. Don’t expect to hear your song right away or even a few hours later.

When: Ongoing except for when the live band plays.

Live Music

The Mayor’s Office selected local band, Falling Star, to perform at the event. This band is known around town and has been gaining traction on Spotify and Soundcloud, praised for their experimental style of music, dabbling between different genres. There’s a song for everyone tonight, and expect a lot of dancing!

When: 7 pm to 10 pm

Secret Santa Reveal:

During the event, the list of Secret Santas will be revealed. This is a chance for participants to personally thank the person who gave them a gift and enjoy the holiday spirit of giving.

When: 9 p.m. (in real time, January 1st)

After Party:

As the event wraps up and the music ends, the bars in town haven’t closed. For those night owls with the urge to dance and drink some more, Flanigan’s is hosting an After Party. As the bar that is most accessible and welcomes both humans and supernaturals, it’s a great spot for the all-nighters to continue the party.

A meeting not by chance

[[Drabble regarding what happens after Vashj’s canon death. An encounter with a nightborne female in a teahouse has Syndras Shadowstar taken aback. Technically an AU and I will tag it as such. Setting: Darkshore Timeline: Legion. Artwork is mine. Syndras Shadowstar belongs to @eternityinseconds ]]

It was some time after Suramar had lifted its' aeons-long veil, that Syndras Shadowstar found himself, for the fourth time in one week,  sitting in a popular tea-house situated in the Broken Shore.  Laboring intensively in the years since the Cataclysm, the Darnassian folk had largely  rebuilt the fishing village formerly known as "Auberdine", building around the gullies and shattered earth that stretched throughout the confines of Darkshore.      

  Granted, a patch of broken architecture still stretched out upon the sands like a beached whale, with a placard which bore tribute to the souls lost when the village was torn apart. It was a deliberate reminder of what had happened, and could still happen, if dark forces broke forth from their prisons once more, to wage war upon the world.    

     Be that as it may, Professor Shadowstar, as he was known in scholarly circles, known well for his infamous "Shadowstar Chronicles" and several highly important archaeological discoveries, was thinking of none of these things, though the sight of the rent earth, that had just recently begun to heal itself, always triggered certain memories for him.     

     One could not be certain what he was thinking of, for he communicated little, and though his fine, handsome features, well-proportioned figure, and remarkable mane of long, silver hair had drawn many interested admirers over those few days, he had quickly shooed them off, preferring to drink alone, and scribble madly in a large leather journal when the notion took him. 

     The days went by. Crowds of people came and went in the teahouse. The professor, pausing only to sleep in a room in the nearby tavern, sat in his usual spot near the back of the room, eating little and drinking endless cups of tea, of which he took a few sips and allowed to grow cold. The truth was, no one could make tea as well as his wife Ky'anna. Not even the fabled Pandaren, who ran the tea-shop conjointly with its' Darnassian owners. Besides, he had not come for the tea. He came, as he always did to this place, for reasons of his own.      

     If he had thought on it a little harder, he would have remembered, and he did not wish to remember. Did not wish to think on the fact that there was one other who had made tea as well as Ky'anna. Since the lifting of the veil at Suramar, thoughts of her had come to his mind far too frequently, and he did not wish to explore them further. It would only lead to more brooding, something he could ill afford at the moment.        

     His archaeological grants were nearing their time of renewal and he raced against the clock to uncover certain artifacts before such ill-gotten groups as the Twilights' Hammer got their filthy claws on them. Not to mention that cursed Blood Elf who had taken it upon himself to dig up the lands around the recently uncovered city....     

     Someone was interrupting his line of thought. He looked up irritably, quill still set to parchment. "Pardon?" A woman with violet skin that had an odd sheen to it, and clad in the serving uniform of the tea-house, had seated herself across from him, having set down his order before him. Long, pale lashes framed elegantly shaped eyes, Syndras taking in her appearance before realizing momentarily what she was. Nightborne. 

     His chin tilted up slightly as he regarded her loftily. "I wondered how long it would take before your people began showing up on our shores. Regardless..." He quirked an eyebrow at her as she stared back at him, the almond-shaped eyes glinting oddly as he felt himself being assessed. "I do not appreciate being bothered by the serving-staff of this place for the sixth time this week. Kindly take this", here he flung down a silver piece none too gracefully, "And begone".   

     The slightest bit of a chuckle escaped her as she continued to regard him, his tea already poured before he knew it. "Well now. I fight through the darkness of the Void itself and am clothed and ready to greet my prince...and look how he denies me". It was a well-known phrase from an ancient story of a star-spirit that had died and had to fight her way back to her lover, only to find him changed beyond recall, and with no memory of his past love.

    But her teeth had come down upon her bottom lip, even as she handed him the steaming brew, sweetened with just a hint of honey. The fragrant aroma of sweet berry and jasmine wafted to his nostrils even as he took it, glaring at her. "You sit down before me without permission, and now you dare to toy with one of your best-paying customers? I will have words w-"     

     But one long, elegant finger had come to her lips. "Ohh, I know well that the esteemed Professor does not wish to be disturbed. But...you must forgive me. I have only begun working here, and was told to get myself used to the tea-house, and its' customers. This brew you see here...is of a rare, exotic flower blended with dried fruit...and laced with a touch of edible gold. It was the managers' desire that you try it...and see what you think". And indeed, there were tiny gold flecks floating about in the tea-water, the cup rimmed with the hint of sweetness and garnished with an exotic bloom.

     He stared at her. Something about those eyes was mesmerizing; both the woman and her stance were puzzling to him. A very clear memory came to his head. He shook himself slightly to clear the image, and without quite knowing what he was doing, he took a sip....and then another, and another. "This...is quite remarkable. Certainly better than the normal sw- er, the normal brew they serve. What did you say your name was?" He took another sip of the tea; that she had moved to the seat beside him went unnoticed for the moment.     

      "Venlaria Shadoweve". The slight smile remained; the voice, lilting, soft as silk, combining medium and low tones, had him frowning slightly; he was confused, but did not understand why. His eyes narrowed . Hers stared calmly back at him. The brew was beyond excellent; the tea house was of course renowned for its high standards, yet no one had served him a tea like this, since a time almost beyond recall.       

      "Well, Venlaria..", he had been about to compliment her on the tea and dismiss her, yet something stopped him. "From where in Suramar do you hail?" Surreptitiously, he had pulled the journal to him; he took another long draught of tea, before withdrawing a small piece of charcoal from the rolled cloth he used to store his writing and drawing implements. His hand moved almost imperceptibly as he began to sketch her. A Nightborne face, most definitely. Yet there was something subtle that hid beneath. Something directly at odds with the woman she appeared to be....   

      "Oh, I was not from Suramar, originally.  Yet I was caught there when the Legion came...and, thank goodness, rescued. I owe much to those who came to save us." Her smile was indulgent, and sweet, but there was a sadness behind it. "I have come to make my way in the world, and find myself lost, and looking for a home, for the place I left behind was never that to me".

     "Ah". He did not want to ask her any more questions about Suramar. Did not wish to think of the possibility that his parents might yet live...or might have become the poor withered wretches the Kaldorei in Suramar had worked so hard to cure.  He had finished sketching her face; he was now adding, for some reason, a hairpiece, and a choker to the figure on the parchment.   

     She had refilled his tea, and garnished it again; to his surprise, he realized he had drained his first cup. Long lashes fluttered downwards as her gaze swept the length of him, something he oddly did not mind; an interminable amount of time seemed to pass between them, and while it was true that he had initially wanted to dismiss her, his mind was fractured, elsewhere. He would have blamed it on the tea, and the woman before him, but there were times, such as this moment, where Syndras doubted his sanity. Perhaps he had spent too long cooped up in his tower...    

     She was now speaking to him of the blooms she had begun to cultivate on trellises surrounding the teahouse; she hoped that they would take by winter. Snorting slightly, he replied, "It is clear that you do not know of the weather in these parts. In this place, the only snow we get is the remnants of dried druid feces that blow through the village".    

      He finished his third cup, looking around to make sure no-one else had heard him, and smirking as she broke into laughter. He polished off the plate of cookies she had set on the tray; surprised at his sudden appetite, he withdrew the silver piece and put down a gold coin in its place.

     "Now, Venlaria, I must ask you to leave. It has been pleasant...but I have many things I must set in order before I sail". Her face looked so crestfallen at that statement, that he almost regretted saying it, even though he was perfectly within his rights. He found himself adding, "Such pleasant company I rarely see here, or on my travels. You must visit myself and my wife sometime...."   

     Her smile widened, and he shook his head slightly, panicking inwardly. What did I just say and why did I say it??! "Well, anyway. Off with you". He waved a hand dismissively, flipping a page in his journal and dipping his quil in his inkpot.   

     With surprising speed and grace, she rose, gathering up the tray and the empty teapot, plate and cup, though the flower fell off the rim as she did so. "I thank you, Professor Shadowstar, for listening to the ramblings of an old woman. It does you credit, as does your appreciation of my tea".    

     She could not help herself any more than she could take her eyes off of him. A finger came out and lightly brushed down the bridge of his nose; her lips twitched in a rueful half-smile. His mouth opened, about to tell her off for taking such liberties with his person, yet she had already bowed to him apologetically, and moved off in the direction of the kitchens. Mesmerized by the sway of her hips, he had quite forgotten the complaint by the time she had disappeared....        

     Hours later, when he came to enquire as to her whereabouts, she appeared to have vanished. The Pandaren tea-master was as confused as his patron, and all over humble apologies, which Syndras did not want. He gathered up his journal and writing tools and left rather huffily, having checked every floor of the establishment, including the kitchens.

     It was only as he set sail from Ruth'theran village the following day, that he flipped back to the page on which he had sketched her face. The flower she had left behind had already been crushed between the pages of another journal of his; the trellises she had worked on cultivating were already being tended by druids interested in the properties of the blooms themselves. Well now. I fight through the darkness of the Void itself and am clothed and ready to greet my prince...and look how he denies me. 

Why had she said that to him? Staring at that enigmatic face, he realized he would have none of the answers until he found her again. Which, to his mind, was as likely as finding a single flower petal in a garden full of them. He sighed and looked out of the small window of the cabin, journal still open on his knees, the taste of the tea still lingering on his tounge...his own eyes closing as he remembered the reflected starlight in hers.

Plot Drop #1: Mischief Night

Let the midnight special shine a light on me Let the midnight special shine her ever loving light on me

Mothers stir the apple cider, dads rake the leaves in the yards. Children run up and down the streets counting pumpkins and betting which houses will have the best candy, marking up their routes for trick-or-treating for tomorrow night.

It starts with a flaming paper bag on Mrs. Norris’ front porch. Upon stomping the flames out, she discovers the bag was filled with some unsavory waste from what she hopes was a dog. The McNillan twins wet themselves when someone emerges from the shadows, dressed as a terrifying clown and chases them down the street. Houses get T.P.’d. Statues get spray painted. No one, no rebel nor pious person, is spared. The pre-Halloween pranks have begun. Where do you stand?

Are you victim or vandal?

This is our FIRST PLOT DROP for our Halloween event. This plot drop affects all characters. Posting or responding to starters regarding this plot drop is not mandatory, but encouraged. Feel free to think of creative situations your character will encounter. Are they the victim of the prank? Have they just been caught pranking someone, or are they conspiring with another character? Do they work in law enforcement and now have to answer every call and show up on every door to hear complaints? Reach out to other players, put up a starter, and let your imagination run wild.

This plot drop will last from now until October 11th at Midnight EST. In the gameplay, Mischief Night will last all night, going from 6 p.m. to  2 a.m. on the first day in game time.

Nightmare of Elm Street: Day 2

When the black cats prowl and the pumpkins gleam…

May luck be yours on Halloween.

For centuries, All Hallow’s Eve (or Halloween) has been the night for all of the things that go bump in the night to walk among the human and mortals. Over the years, the meaning behind Halloween has taken many interruptions and forms depending on each culture. But, in North Carolina, in a little town called Shadow Falls, one of the states most popular ghost stories reign. In Sleepy Hallow, they may have the Headless Horseman, but down south, Shadow Falls is the town devoted to the Siren of the French Broad. Tourists come from far and wide to catch a glimpse of the ghost with the long dark-hair out in the water and to try their luck to hear the call of her song. In Shadow Falls, townsfolk are urged to for their difference to fade away over the next few days and come together for a day of ‘unity’ and ‘acceptance’. But, not everyone looks at Halloween this way…

This is the list  of the activities happening on Day 2 of the event. 

The event will be concluded on October 20th at midnight EST. It will however only cover October 17th to the 20th in game play.

ACTIVITIES for DAY 2 aka Halloweekend:

So, what’s happening in town on Day 2?

We have several activities for citizens to take part in listed below. Feel free to post starters in any order which you like. For example, feel free to make a starter about a party and then later post one about a prank. The times associated next to each activity are just in case you want to describe if it was sunny out or your character is grumpy that it’s super early etc.

Clean up Crew/Silent Dance Party:

After all of the teepeeing and pranks that were pulled last night, the mayor has sent out a request for volunteers to help get the town’s streets prepped and ready for trick or treating. So if you’re an early bird or someone whose house was hit last night, make your way down to town hall to borrow some industrial trashcans, replacement decorations, and have some morning bagels, pumpkin spice lattes, and mini pumpkin pies all courtesy of the Pie Hole. Thanks to the Shadow Falls Public Library, the town will also be renting out headphones that you can pick up to par-take in a silent dance party of sorts in order to make the town clean up just a little bit more fun! So, jam out to some music and help get the streets all suited up for today’s activities.

When: 8 to 10 am.; Where: Town Hall

The Haunted House:

The corn maze and hayrides will still be running all today, as well as, the Spookfest Street Fair. But, with an added bonus of one of the largest Haunted Houses this town has ever seen. The entire Library (including the street outside of it which has been transformed into a zombie run inspired obstacle course that you’re welcome to go through) has been transformed into an incredibly interactive experience that is sure to give you goosebumps. All of the proceeds from the tickets will go to new books  and each floor of the Haunted House has a different scare level.

Participants: Don’t worry if you’re a scaredy cat, the first floor of the building is the part of the Haunted House that is for all ages from kids to adults. If you have the heeby-jeebies from only that, feel free to leave through the back entrance. But, if your a horror fanatic or a haunted house enthusiast, take the elevator up to levels 2 and 3. If you make it through all three levels, you’ll not only get a sticker and a pen that looks like a syringe, but bragging rights for all your friends.

Volunteers: If you have signed up to work the Haunted House, then you will be transformed into a scary monster of your choosing and be given a post where you can jump out and scare whoever is walking through. You can be a severed head in a fake dinning room table or one of the zombies in the zombie run. Just remember, you’re not allowed to touch the participants just as they are not allowed to touch you and don’t forget to say boo!

OOC: Because the SpookFest Street Fair is still going on, the added stuff about witches and sirens are still in effect today too.

When: 10 am to 7pm;  Where:  Shadow Falls Library

Trick or Treating:

No one can forget one of the most popular parts of Halloween being Trick o’ Treating! And it’s no secret that in Shadow Falls, the best street to hit during your candy run is Elliswood Avenue. This picture-esque street is dominated by upper-middle-class families who love to compete for the best-decorated homes each year. It’s famous for the elaborate decorations and king-sized candy bars. It’s a perfect street to take the little ones trick-or-treating. Your character could be a resident of Elliswood Avenue, someone who appreciates the effort, or a chaperone for some kids for part of the night. (For a better idea of the houses on Halloween, check out these links [x] [x] [x]). There is even a magnetic sword in a stone at the street sign where young and old can try to see if they are the ‘chosen’ one.

Temporary Freedom: Once again, every supernatural in town has temporary freedom. If a species would like to walk around freely with their wings stretched out, reveal their fangs, etc. The risk of being caught for indulging in supernatural pleasures and appearances is low seeing that many hunters and cops cannot distinguish the difference between species throughout the weekend. Yet, cops are still on duty, patrolling the streets more heavily than usual, so even though supernaturals won’t be arrested for wandering around in their true form, hunters and supernaturals don’t get the complete freedom they have during the Full Moon (aka killing and feeding on other people in the streets is a no, no).

When: 5pm to Midnight;  Where: Elliswood Avenue

The Monster Mash:

On night two, there are one again two separate parties you are welcome to attend:

Neverland: Neverland will be putting on an all out costume party. Come donning your scariest garbs, your sparkliest make-up, or your cutest couples costume. There will be THREE main categories: 1. Best Couple’s Costume (can be funny, extra spooky, or cute!) 2. Scariest Overall (the scariest costume of the night.) 3. Cleverest Clown (not actually a clown costume, but a costume that the judges deem hilarious or clever.) Tag your character’s costumes with #shadowinspos and #shadowhalloween18

When: 8 pm to 2 am  Where: Neverland Speakeasy

Saints and Sinners: For those looking to indulge in the more hedonistic aspects of the night, Saints and Sinners is the place to be. With live musical performances and generous bar tabs, this is the club to live out your dark fantasies. Bring your costume, or as others would put it “lingerie with animal ears,” grab a drink, and hit the dance floor.

When: 9 pm to 2 am  Where: Saints and Sinners Club

Open Carry

Open Carry: The open carry policy is still in effect, so after the clock strikes 9 pm, the open carry policy begins. This means that you are allowed to take whichever alcohol beverage you’d like the streets as you wandered through the night. And for Vampires, special drinks will be offered all weekend with blood infused in it thanks to the Local Blood Drive and to the Hamlin Group’s newest creation- blood tablets. Drop one tablet into a glass of water and it instance becomes artificial blood for you to enjoy.

When: 9 pm to Midnight. Where: All Over Town

The Siren on French Broad Spotting:

Last but not least, as the time ticks to midnight and the fog rolls in, make your way down to Elm Street, the Trails, and the Pier to catch the Siren show on the water and a glimpse of the ghost herself. The show won’t start until 2 am, but if you’re smart, you’ll try to get there early to grab a good seat and get some good old fashioned hot dogs, turkey legs, and other traditionally american style food from the Devil’s Diner food carts set up along the water.

When: 11 pm to 1 am, Where: Over the Water

Plot Drop #5: Extraction

The sun begins to rise on the fourth and last day of the Halloween Weekend. The chaos seems to be calming down and, for the first time since the blackout, the streets seem actually fairly quiet. Until the sounds of chopper is heard overhead.

Maybe the vampire poisoning was just some cruel mischief prank or maybe it was distraction the Hamlin group put on so that no one would be paying attention to their two soldiers when the helicopters hovered overhead. Either way, it’s hard not to notice the government issued copters circled over the town early that Sunday morning.

We know we’ve been throwing a lot of things at you recently, so this is less of a plot drop, as it a reminder that the EVENT ENDS TOMORROW! We hope you all have had a lot of fun with all of these plots drops. And, don’t worry, we will be posting two different event recaps over the next few days. The first event recap will be posted on the main explaining in a little more detail everything that had been happening from what Logan and Skylar’s motives were to what this means for the town and world as a whole. We hope this recap will clear up any possible confusions about everything that occurred and how it is all connected. Please, also, note, that the event recap post will include the unfollows for Skylar and James (as they are being extracted on the helicopters… dead or alive… dun dun dun…). So, this is also a reminder to please try to wrap up your threads with these characters. But, don’t worry. You can still keep your event related threads going after the event ends with other characters. Just try to wrap up the ones with these two.

The second event recap will be posted later on the Gossip Blog and will be about you guys! Including as many characters as possible and recapping everything that you guys did the event in character.

Fear begins decay

It’s almost a new day...

After the helicopters carried away the super-siren Logan and the bodies of James Armstrong and Skylar Monaghan, the little, once quiet, town of Shadow Falls starts to put the pieces back together.

The following information is known OOC. Characters in play do not have this information unless it was given to them during the event in play or stated otherwise in the recap. This is to inform players of secret information happening in the world of the roleplay and to anticipate further plot drops or contribute ideas for plot drops down the line.

So, what happened? Why did it happen here?

Who was responsible for the contaminated blood?

The blood tablets were provided by a private conglomerate known as the Hamlin Group. You can find more information about them {here}. They have been working to create a commercialized, mass-produced blood substitute and were debuting a sample batch to a few locations nationwide during Halloween events to test consumer responses. Unfortunately, the batch sent to Shadow Falls had adverse side-effects after a few hours from consumption. Those who were declared, therefore wearing government-issued daylight rings, were simply made ill and docile. Those who were undeclared, and therefore had to find black market daylight rings, suffered illness but were closer to a feral state of mind. The illness sparked a need to feed to counteract the infection, allowing them to heal from the virus faster. It was a natural reaction to combat the foreign virus.

The government-issued rings are laced with a chemical to encourage docility and self-control. This is to help control the vampire population and minimize attacks or overeating. The black market rings, however, do not come with this chemical and leaves vampires in a more natural state, allowing more space for their predatory instincts. Your character may notice the difference in vampire reactions to the tablets. It’s likely (and encouraged!) that characters will start to speculate why some reacted violently while others remained in control. However, unless investigated properly, no one would immediately think it had to do with the daylight ring differences. If you would like to further investigate this plot and have your character research this mystery, please message the main.

Who were Logan Delaney and Skylar Monaghan?

Not much is known about the personal lives of these individuals, but they were volunteer test subjects for a study done by the Hamlin Group. The Hamlin Group has been secretly branching out beyond consumer goods for both human and supernatural customers, and been working on providing goods and weaponry for the government. Part of their research had been to create a serum to create super-soldiers.

While supernaturals are allowed to serve in some branches of the military in the United States, others have more or less power in foreign militia. In order to compete with foreign militaries, the United States secretly commissioned the Hamlin Group to create sample soldiers derived from the genes that made up organic supernaturals. They had been working on a serum for decades, starting with the one developed by Dr. Quinten Huskby that spawned sirens and harpies. Over the years, they were able to develop two separate batches that could turn humans into modified versions of supernaturals. Logan and Skylar were part of the third batch that were promised to be stronger than any supernatural of the species they were derived from. Skylar was derived from the werewolf gene and designed to be stronger than the most powerful wolves: alphas from long lineages of alphas. Logan was a modified siren, a strengthened and focused genetic make-up. He was designed with his abilities to leave humans unaffected but to target supernaturals. Only his powers still do not work on those with the siren or harpy gene, which the Hamlin Group is looking to remedy so that other sirens and harpies will too, be affected.

Why did Logan use his song to draw people into the lake?

Logan and Skylar were sent into Shadow Falls to test their abilities in a contained town and pull potential test subjects for future scientific endeavors. Logan was testing his song and creating a distraction for Skylar to finish his part of their mission.

It was to see how wide a net his abilities would cast. They were able to confirm a batch of randomized humans were unaffected by his song, but sirens and harpies were also unaffected. It also allowed for enough chaos for Skylar to isolate local alpha, James Armstrong.

What was Skylar’s mission?

The only way for Skylar to test his strength and abilities was to go against an Alpha with plenty of experience. The Armstrongs had been pack-minded and on the record since the 1800s, and had an alpha bloodline since the early 20th century. James was an ideal target to take down and see if he could overpower. There was a second part to his mission as well:

Should he succeed in overpowering James, Skylar was to inject James with an anti-supernatural serum. This is a remedy to cure the supernatural gene and is in its early stages still. They did not know its adverse effects, but decided it would be a good way to gain a specimen and do an autopsy to determine a cause of death to improve the next serum batch. Once James was injected, his body had a negative reaction and his body was left limp. Unfortunately for Skylar, he met an unexpected end at the hands of Kelsie Woods, who found him standing over her fiance’s body. She used a silver bullet laced with wolfsbane that she acquired illegally by Order of the Unseen member, Nikolina Skala. The combination of a werewolf’s true weaknesses was able to kill Skylar on the spot, thus demonstrating a flaw in his modified gene. 

What is happening with the Armstrong pack now?

When Skylar defeated and injected James, the title of alpha passed down to him. However, when Kelsie shot Skylar, she took the alpha title from him. Kelsie Woods is the new alpha of the Armstrong pack. Nicholas Robinson still holds his position as a pack beta and it is rumored that James Armstrong’s mother, Dianna Armstrong, is coming back to play a more active role in the pack in order to ensure its survival. The pack is still intact, but it grieving and reeling from the loss of their former leader.

What is happening with everyone else in town?

People are still recovering from any injuries or traumas they’ve endured from the event and trying to find their normal again. Several town residents have picked up their things and left. The Munroe family, who had always lived in the political middle when it came to supernatural versus human conflict, decided to wasn’t safe to keep their family in Shadow Falls and moved away. Tegan and Alexander Matheson followed suit, opting to find a new city to start anew and live a peaceful existence. Nina Skala took the first mission from the Order of the Unseen she could get her hands on and fled town.  In the aftermath, Mateo San Roman and his niece, Renata, also left for their own safety.

The Mayor released a cryptic statement, claiming the police in town were investigating to find who was responsible for such a madhouse. The Hamlin Group, because their name was tied to the blood tablets, footed any hospital bills of victims from the faulty product. They also sent gift baskets, large-sum gift cards, and, depending on the extremity of the case, awarded victims with a large sum of money to keep quiet (about $5,000.) As for the Siren on French Broad, there is no evidence or inklings to tie the Hamlin Group to the incident. As of now, local authorities are suspecting the Four Horsemen because higher-ups continue to push that narrative, despite a lack of evidence. Additionally, if your character is law-enforcement, they might be investigating this incident and find themselves gaslighted by NPC higher-ups. If you would like to explore this plot, please message the main for more details.

Hi guys!

This is hopefully going to be a really exciting admin note, but, as many of you already know, based on your votes, the dates for our Halloween themed event will be from October 8th to the 20th! We know that is still over a month away, but we, the admins, are starting to get prepared for it now. This event is going to be a plot drop filled event which we hope will, not only expand the world in which your characters are interacting in, but, also, give you guys some fun added drama. 

But, we need your help. 

We will be bringing in *drum roll please*, not one, but two temporary villains for this event. One who seems to be calling the shots and the other who will be an accomplice of sorts. We already have one of the villain spots filled. But, we’re posting this on the main to see if any of you would like to play the second spot? A couple things you should know about these temporary villains are that:

They will be brought in sometime during the event with the account links to follow being posted in one of the plot drops

These two characters will be in play for the duration of the event where they will either be killed in play during the event or will disappear after the event ends to potentially be brought back in during a future event

These characters are temporarily. There sole purpose is to stir up drama and add to the plot/world of the RP. So, they will not be allowed to be in play after the event is over unless to wrap up existing event threads.

If you are interested in playing this type of character, please shoot a message to the main! It’s that easy. Just let us know that you are interested. But, also, note that because this character is so crucial to event, we will not be picking who will play this character on a first come, first serve basis, but based on the ideas you bring to the table for them (which character best fits our existing event details) and your current activity.  Also, note, that if you send us a message saying that you are interested, we might not get back to you for a week or two, because we want to, first, make sure that everyone who is interested has reached out to us, before we start deliberating who should play this spot. 

Last, but not, least, if you want your character to be triggered or severely injured, or have any major plot related stuff your interested in exploring with your character, you’re welcome to send us a message now so that we can start tying it in to the event and villains stories/backstories. But, you do not have to. You have all of September and into October, to figure out things such as that.

The Crown of Shadows Results are in!

“And as the evening comes to a close, it’s time to announce the auction results. Once again, I am Carlton Cartwright and, judging from your bids, I think you all were just as impressed as I was with these impressive contestants and their wonderful dates. But, before we announce the winners and who will be taking home the Crown of Shadows, I want to remind ya’ll of where all of these proceeds are going to. The proceeds of this event are to help the Muttropawlitan keep strays off the streets and to instating a go green initiative around town. This date is a scavenger hunt comprised of recreating popular romcom moments together on a budget. The clues, such as an ode to “She’s the Man” where a present shows up on your doorstep with a wheel of gouda cheese in it, will lead you to your date whom will be hanging off the side of their roof from a bungee cord, wearing a Spiderman costume like in the OC and holding cue cards from the movie “Love Actually”, while a boombox sits below playing “Kiss Me” from Six Pence None the Richer. After finally cutting themselves down, your date will take you into the backyard where a projector will be playing “10 Things I Hate About You” onto a sheet that has been tapped to the side of the building to look like a screen. This contestant, also, would like you to know, that during the movie, popcorn, ring pops, and chocolate covered strawberries will be provided.

When the fun in the sun was done the party could move to Level Up! for a quick round of air hockey and dinner. After the sun goes down the excitement begins with Moonlight Zip lining that ends at the Observatory where desert will be waiting.

Celebrate Shadow Falls’ 115th Birthday!

Shadow Falls was founded in 1903 with little more than a main street. Over the past 115 years, the town has grown into a thriving small town with a diverse population of residents. Come celebrate our town’s founding the week!

This is a relaxed event to encourage character interactions and fun plot drops. Players are welcome to continue any ongoing threads during this event. 

We will have several activities for citizens to take part in, including carnival games, carnival rides, and booths. This post is an announcement of our event so players can begin submitting ideas for the event. The event will happen starting July 19th to July 26th.

Business owners are strongly encouraged to submit a promotional booth/activity for the celebration. Simply tell us which character is hosting the booth, what the booth is, and what participants will do. This can be a one sentence, written submission. If you are not a business owner but would like to submit a booth for your place of employment, that is also encouraged. 

*Please send in all booth suggestions by Monday, July 16th.

Ex. “Ella Bahar is hosting a Pie Eating Contest on behalf of The Pie Hole.”

Crown of Shadow Falls Auction: This is an anonymous bachelor/bachelorette charity auction. All proceeds from the auction will go to the Shadow Falls Parks and Recreation Department. Contestants will submit their answers to a short questionnaire via the submit box. The admins will then post a plot drop with all of the anonymous answers per Contestant. Players will be able send in bids to the main each day based on which contestant they want to win the date with. Please note, if your character is participating in the Auction, that specific character cannot bid in the Auction. Either gender can participate.

Celebrate Shadow Falls’ 115th Birthday!

The Mayor is proud to present Shadow Falls’ 115th Founder’s Day! Shadow Falls was founded in 1903 with little more than a main street. Over the past 115 years, the town has grown into a thriving small town with a diverse population of residents. Come celebrate our town’s founding the week!

This is a relaxed event to encourage character interactions and fun plot drops. Players are welcome to continue any ongoing threads during this event. We have several activities for citizens to take part in listed below. Feel free to post starters in any order which you like. For example, feel free to make a starter about the fair and then later post one about the reenactments. The times associated next to each activity are just in case you want to describe if it was sunny out or your character is grumpy that it’s super early etc. The event will be happening starting now on July 19th and ending on July 26th at midnight EST. It will however only cover Wednesday July 25th in game play. It’s is a town holiday, so even though the gameplay is on a Wednesday, most shops in town closes down for Founder’s Day.

The tag for this event is #shadowfd1. So, please remember to tag all event related threads, pictures, outfits, etc. as such. Also, remember when posting a start to use both the event tag as well as the start tag. This event is not mandatory, so you don’t have to participate if you don’t want to, but we hope that you do. PLEASE LIKE THIS POST AFTER YOU’VE READ IT. For any questions or concerns regarding anything about the event please feel free to message the main and just have fun!! ACTIVITIES:

Even though most of the places and shops are closed down for the festivities, we promise you, there is plenty to do:

Colonial Reenactments: 

For those of you morning birds, put on your colonial garments and make you way down to Wonderland Park, for our back to back reenactments. The first reenactment will be that of the Civil War, with a short intermission in between (where a live band will perform), before the second reenactment of the founding of the town begins. 

Participants: For those participating, there will be trailers lined up against the outskirts of the park where you can find costumes and weapons (that have been cleaned out, but be careful- they still might have a kick to them and some residual gun powder) provided to you by Shadow Falls recreational theater department. There will, also, be a makeup trailer with products provided by our lovely sponsor, the Hamlin Group, to really help you get into character. So, pick which side you want to be on for the skit, practice your accents and have fun with it!

Viewers: If you are watching the reenactments, please make your way to the bleachers lining the outskirts of the fields. Concessions will be provided from Diner 66′s (Devil’s Diner’s) signature hotdogs to authentic turkey legs.

When: 8 to 10 am.; Where: Wonderland Park. 

The Founder’s Parade: 

After the reenactments ends, make you way down to Main street to watch the parade go by. Put on by mayor, the parade will floats will pass through all of the major streets before stopping in front of the historical town hall building. Wave as all of the participants of the reenactments go by, get a sneak peak at the bachelors and bachelorettes who will be contestants in the Crown of Shadows auction, catch a handful of free candy, and even buy some Girl Scout cookies. Don’t forget, the floats will stay in front of town hall for the rest of the night to play around on and take pictures with.

When: 10 am to 12 pm;  Where: Starting at the Docks  and working it’s way up to Main Street.

Founders Fair:

By the time the parade ends, the reenactment will be all cleaned up and it’s time for the fair to begin. The Founders Fair is a Carnival of sorts, with a bunch of games, booths from almost every store in town, and rides! From the Ferris Wheel to the Ripcord to a fun house with a room full of mirrors, the Founders Fair will be up all night and offers something for everyone!

Crown of Shadow Falls Charity Auction:

Right before the sun begins to set and evening rolls around, the anonymous Bachelor/Bachelorette Charity auction will begin. All proceeds for this auction will go the Shadow Falls Parks and Recreation Department. Bid on your favorite bachelor, you just might go home with an amazing date that will sweep you off your feet.

OOC: WE WILL BE POSTING THE CROWN OF SHADOW FALLS  CONTESTANT AND BIDDING INFO IN THE NEXT TWO DAYS, SO STAY TUNED. YOU STILL HAVE TIME TO SUBMIT CONTESTANT SURVEYS IF YOU WANT TO.

When: 6 pm to 8 pm; Where: the main theater located in Level Up!

Fireworks:

End you night by watching the fireworks be set off over the pier. If you chose to watch the fireworks from the Ferris Wheel, legend has it, whoever you’re sitting next to when the clock strikes midnight and you will be bonded for life. Or, if the legend isn’t really your thing, you can hop on one of the many colonial style ships taking people out on the water to get a front row few of the fireworks overhead. Not to mention, you can get a tour of a pirate ship, participate in boat hopping party festivities, and even end the night by walking the plank and taking a dive, followed by a little summer swim. But, if neither the boats or the Ferris Wheel are your fancy,  you can always set up your lawn chairs across Thistle Trails for a calmer end to the evening.

Hi Guys! 

As this event wraps up and nears it’s end, we just wanted to reach out and ask if anyone had a plot about their character and another character being on the ferris wheel together to watch the fireworks, if you could send us the names of those pairings to the main? Just send an ask such as “Fireworks: Ella & Silas”, so we can keep it on record. 

To jog one’s memory, there were multiple different locations to watch the fireworks at the end of the event at, but if you and another character decided to watch the fireworks together on the ferris wheel (instead of the other locations), rumor has it that the two of you will be bonded for life for good or for bad. So, we just want to keep a list of those pairings for a potential future event or plot related thing!

If your character wasn’t on the ferris wheel during the fireworks, feel free to completely ignore this request.

The Founders Fair is a Carnival of sorts, with a bunch of games, booths from almost every store in town, and rides! From the Ferris Wheel to the Ripcord to a fun house with a room full of mirrors, the Founders Fair will be up all night and offers something for everyone!

*Note: Anything with a star next to it is a contest. We’re going to let the Rper who plays the character who is the host of said contest pick the winner at the end of the event based on starter/thread replies on the dash.

Also, just because you submitted a booth doesn’t mean you have to create a starter about it or anything. The booths, we felt, are just a fun way for you guys to be able to participate in the creation of the event and get to have more of an idea of what you can do in character/what’s going on it town.

All Saints Hospital: Will be having an ambulance tour, taking different people of all ages, but especially kids around the inside of an ambulance and breaking down what exactly our town heroes do. Free lollipops will be provided after the short walkthrough.

Black Lotus Ink: Will have a body art and face painting station. All the fun without the pain!

The Boathouse: Will be having Bumper Boats down by the dockyard. They will also be renting out different paddle boats and swan boats to take out for a spin.

Devil’s Diner: Will be having a food truck. Come try an array of exclusive off the menu burgers, milkshakes and fries creations. They have a strawberry shortcake bar. Not to mention, hot dogs! Get your hot dogs over here!

Dusk Till Dawn Inn: Will be having a Laser Tag Contest hosted by Rowan Hartman. Winners get a free night stay at the BNB.

Grave Desires: Will be hosting a create your own jewelry booth where you can make customized pieces designed for you!

The Hellmouth: Will be having a Cotton Candy booth! So, come get a deliciously sweet creation with any flavor you could possibly imagine.

House of Grace for Humans: Will have a photo booth with lil stick signs that say “I love Jesus!” and “Jesus Loves Me” and “Put Your Faith in Him” and fun hats and glasses.

Level Up!: Will be hosting a “gladiator style” joist on an inflatable joisting bounce house. 

Madam Zeroni’s: Will have a fortune-telling tent set up at the carnival on behalf of Madam Zeroni’s. Inside, participants may have their palms read, or get a tarot card reading.

The Muttropawlitan: Will be hosting, with the help of Vet tech Caitlin Dunmore, The Ballon Pop. Customers are given 3 darts with a chance to pop a ballon to win a prize.

The Pie Hole: Will be putting on a Pie Eating Contest hosted by Ella Bahar.

The Police Department: Will be having a dunk booth. Come take your turn attempting to dunk different officers and Police Department employees like Jacen Todd, Sophie Vidales, and Serena North.

Procaffination Cafe: Will be having an array of different classic carnival games, in honor of their weekly game night, from bottle and ring tosses, to fish cup, to even making sand art. Come win a stuffed animal or even a pet goldfish!

The Fire Department: Will be having water Slides! Race to the bottom with your friends and, be warned, you may get wet.

Saints & Sinners: Will be having a Kissing Booth. Step right up and get a kiss from on of the employees of the notorious club such as Julian St. Clair, Noah Armstrong and Kenzie Foster.

Shadow Falls Library: Will be having a book swap/book sale. Come drop off your used or donated books or come pick up a book of your own for cheap. 

Still Water Spa: Will be hosting a massage booth in the shade, with air misters as patrons enjoy a relaxing foot or shoulder massage.

Thistle Trails Tours: Will be having a pressed flower booth, where you can press flowers and other plants found along the trails into different creations of your choosing. From pressed flower necklaces, to portraits, to bookmarks, this booth is not one you’re going to want to miss.

Tip Toes: Will have a Dance-Dance Revolution Booth where Tae Cho will be hosting.

WDFM 90.9 Radio Station: Will be having a Karaoke Booth hosted by Jasmine Morris.
