The Seeding: when nothing is what it seems
The Seeding is a horror movie directed by Barnaby Clay and produced by Brian R. Etting. The plot of the movie revolves around a hiker who gets lost in the desert and takes refuge with a woman living alone. However, he soon discovers that she might not be there willingly and is captive to a pack of sadistic boys. The movie is said to be the first film in a horror trilogy based on the book from AB Gibson. The main actors in The Seeding are Scott Haze, known for his roles in Venom and Jurassic World Dominion, and Kate Lyn Sheil, recognized for her work in You're Next and V/H/S.
The Seeding is a horror movie that has received mixed reviews. According to Rotten Tomatoes, the movie falls in the murky area between arthouse and indie horror. The beautiful camerawork and vague story mix with jump scares and shocking scenes. On Metacritic, there are no user reviews yet, but the movie has a score of 50 out of 100 based on 4 critic reviews. Roger Ebert's review describes the movie as a bleak horror movie that starts by making you flinch. The review praises the evocative location photography and the performance of the actors, but criticizes the movie for being too vague and not having a clear direction. The horror movie is based on the book from AB Gibson.

Unnecessary throwback, I just reread The Wind that Cuts the Night AGAIN (one of my faves) and I think about this every time i do, are there any authors or books in particular that influence your writing style? Because the vibes are impeccable in this fic and it’s something that makes me wonder about any inspiration you may have had <3
Hi anon!
I have read literally thousands of books, and I think every single one of them - especially the ones I've loved - have all influenced my writing style a little. From non-fiction to fiction.
There's definitely no single writer I want to emulate, because I pretty much never find exactly what I want to read out there. It's more like I find moments, and then I think 'oh I want to make a reader feel the way this writer made me feel right now' but that doesn't necessarily mean I want to write in their style? Or if it does, it will still be influenced by all the other things that have influenced me in the past.
*thinks* I've read so many authors it's almost impossible to single out the ones I love the most re: writing style, but here's a few: Ursula K. Le Guin, dgalerab on AO3, Robin Hobb (though I feel like I've aged out of her writing now), CS Pacat, Suzanne Clarke, Bill Bryson, Robert Holdstock, Mark Z. Danielewski, Asumiko Nakamura, Andrea Gibson, Martha Wells (particularly re: Murderbot), Hinako Takanaga, Chuuya Nakahara, John Fowles, Orson Scott Card (for all that he's a bigot homophobic dickhead), Sarah Monette / Katherine Addison, Alan Ball, Mike Schur, Brian Jacques, Cecilia Dart-Thornton, Dan Harmon, Randall Jarrell, Thomas Harris, Yana Toboso, Ono Natsume, Kim Dare, Moto Hagio, Scott Heim, Gerald Durrell, Tanith Lee, George Mackay Brown, early Lyn Gala, early Sidney Bell, early Roan Parrish, Ann-Marie MacDonald, William Goldman, a bunch of classic authors and poets that we don't have time for, Tamora Pierce, Philip Pullman, and like...more fic authors I'm forgetting, lol.
(There's a mix in here, including fic writers, poets, essayists, scriptwriters and novelists).
(Also I am under no illusions that I am anywhere as good as any of these writers, they're just the ones whose styles really inspire me. Except I know I'm missing like 100 others and that's going to annoy me, lmao, I am okay with being mediocre, when I have this greatness to aspire to).
(For all the people who've ever asked me to rec some stuff, there you go, there's the list sdalkfjas).
(For anyone who thinks my writing is good, all I can say is read broadly, widely, across genres, across mediums, it's the best way to improve what you do. Though I'm mad as fuck that the list doesn't have more POC in it. I need to read far more broadly).
(Anon I'm SO glad you enjoy that fic! It was such an indulgent little story :D)
#asks and answers#inadvertent recs#the wind that cuts the night#stardew valley sort of#thespectaclesofthor#i don't know any writers who write like i do#because i don't want to write like any other writers specifically#that doesn't mean there aren't some out there#but like... i write stuff i haven't read yet#or stuff i'm still looking for#but i also know i am indebted to every good and bad book i've ever read#poem i've ever absorbed#television show and movie i've ever watched#administrator gwyn wants this in the queue

Haunted History - The King's Tavern
Haunted History – The King’s Tavern
The King’s Tavern is a 230+ year old structure that is still in use today. The Tavern is located at 619 Jefferson street in Natchez Mississippi and at the moment appears to be an up scale bar and grill, just as it was when it was in the late 1700’s.
Originally, King’s Inn was intended to be a block house for Fort Panmure but because there was no local sawmill, materials had to come from other…

If people are still looking for queer reads I recommend anything by TJ Klune. He has YA and adult novels that are beautifully poetic. Two Boys Kissing by David Leviathan is possibly one of the most deeply moving things I’ve ever written. All I’ll say is that the story is told from the “collective” of all the queer people who have died. They watch several stories unfold and there is one including a trans man that is gorgeous all on its own. If you want poetry Danez. Fucking. Smith. (1/?)
There’s a lot, so I’m going to post all of these below with links.
Fucking. Smith. Specifically, Don’t Call Us Dead.
Andrea Gibson is a nb, wlw focused poet as well. A great into to their work is Take Me With You. They have a bunch of their slams online and “Orlando” still makes me sob.
Foxhole Court is good if you like something dark. It’s a three book series and the gay couple don’t get together until the last book but they’re the MC and the time line works well.
Proxy and Guardian are good if you like dystopian and has a good twist on how liberation ultimately destroyed them. Lots of homophobia in this book, be warned (from in universe, not the author), and there is “bury your gays” so read with caution.
N.R. Walker has lots of wonderful books and plenty of fantasy. They’re usually a safe bet for some choice gay content.
If you LOVE farmer Steve, I HIGHLY recommend Honey for the Lion by Jackie North. Time traveling romance and even though is not normally my thing, it is so fucking gooooddddd. Don’t worry about it being the second in the series, it’s stand alone in the same universe and is where you should start since it’s the best out of all of them so far (though that’s because I’ve always been big on them Farmer level vibes lol. I read this long before SoRE was a thing so and if you’re missing it, the read this book).
Lyn Gala is super niche and I don’t think a lot of people will be into her stuff but it’s worth thumbing through for those who might like it (she has an interesting little sci-fi series. I lost interest around the third book but the first one is nice. Not a perfect writer, but lots of good ideas).
If you are into “wtf even is this and why is it hot” guilty pleasure reading—> Amalita Rae. She’s inactive these days (I’m still waiting for the follow up to one book and one book and it’s been 4 or 5 years) so proceed with caution.
I know a lot of people like A.E. Via but.... I’m not a big fan. Still, they’ve got a big audience and are worth mentioning.
If you straight up want Farmer Steve 2.0 then read Over and Over Again by Cole McCade and cry with me. It’s different but it’s got age gap, big ass gentle giant farmer, and Daddy Kink (I think.... don’t quote me on that).
If you like mafia aus—> Cold Hard Cash by K.L. Hiers. Thank me later.
I’ll stop flooding your inbox now but I have literally torn apart the kindle store for 7 years finding the good gay shit and if you’re looking for it, I’ve read it and I know what the good stuff is so everyone else can save the money I’ve wasted on some bad stuff over the years 🤣🤣🤣
#thanks cera!#I can't believe I forgot Andrea Gibson lol I'm like tangential friends with them irl#anyways yeah check these out#you obviously read more queer books than me 🤣#book recs#asks#ceratonia-siliqua

Commonly known as the Ken and Barbie Killers due to their good looks, Paul Bernardo and Karla Homolka raped and murdered three young girls in the Ontario region of Canada between 1990-1992. The first victim being Karla’s 15 year old sister, Tammy Lyn Homolka. Bernardo was a former accountant who lived with and was adored by the Homolka family. Homolka was a vetinary nurse who lived with Paul and her family.
Paul had a fascination for Karla’s younger sister Tammy, he would go so far as to masturbate in her bedroom while she was asleep and watch her through her bedroom window, with the aid of Karla. Homolka would steal Valium from her employer and put it in Tammy’s food, after Tammy passed out Bernardo would begin to rape her while Homolka watched. On December 23, 1990 Homolka steals the anasthetic Halothane and slips it into Tammy’s rum-and-eggnog drink. Once she had passed out, they then undressed her, applied a Halothane soaked cloth to her nose and proceeded to rape her. The motive for this being that Homolka wanted to ‘give Bernardo Tammy’s virginity for Christmas’. Tammy began to vomit in her sleep, and the killers were unable to revive her. They dressed her, placed her back in her bed, and called 911. Tammy never regained consciousness and later died in hospital. Despite the burns on her face from the Halothane soaked cloth, her death was ruled as accidental as it was believed she died from choking on her vomit as a result of too much alcohol.
The couple’s second victim was 14 year old Leslie Mahaffy, who Bernardo found locked out of her house after curfew. The girl asked Bernardo for cigarettes, as she approached the car he blindfolded her, forced her into his car and drove them both to his and Homolka’s new home in Port Dalhousie. During the rape and torture of the young girl, the couple videotaped the event and listened to Bob Marley and David Bowie. Bernardo was quoted saying “You’re doing a good job, Leslie, a damned good job!” also adding “The next two hours are gonna determine what I do to you. Right now, you’re scoring perfect.” Bernardo claimed that Homolka fed Leslie a lethal dose of Halcion and was also strangled to death before hiding her body in the basement. They dismembered her body and stored various parts in cement before disposing of the cement blocks in Lake Gibson. Mahaffy’s body was found on June 29, 1991, orthodontic appliances she wore were used to identify her.
The last known victim of the Ken and Barbie Killers was 15 year old Kirsten French. On April 16, 1992 Homolka and Bernardo abducted Kirsten while out searching for potential victims. Homolka pretended to be lost and presented herself with a map, asking Kirsten for directions. When focused on the map, Bernardo attacked her from behind, brandishing a knife, forcing her into the front seat of his car. French’s parents knew something was wrong when she didn’t come home within 15 minutes, and notified Niagra Regional Police Service (NRP), who found several witnesses who saw the abduction from various locations. Investigators found Kirsten’s shoe in the parking lot where the car was parked, which only revealed the severity of the situation. On Easter weekend, the couple videotaped the rape, torture, and sodomy of Kirsten and forced her to drink alcohol and submit to Bernardo. At one point Kirsten tried to escape, which provoked Homolka to beat her with a rubber mallet. Kirsten died by strangulation of a noose attached to a hope chest. Kirsten’s nude body was found in a ditch in Burlington, 30 minutes away from the scene of the kidnap.
Bernardo was arrested on 17 of February, 1993 and was charged with two counts of first-degree murder, kidnapping, forcible confinement and sexual assault, and one count of committing an indignity to a body. On September 1st, 1995 Bernardo was sentenced to life imprisonment with the possibility of parole in 25 years. Bernardo had his requests for day and full parole denied and will likely never be released as he is deemed a dangerous offender.
Homolka was charged with two counts of manslaughter, the murders of Mahaffy and French on May 6th 1993. Homolka earned a reduced sentence as part of a plea bargain to testify against Bernardo. She recieved a 12 year sentence for her role in the murders. Homolka was released in 2005 and now has a new husband and three children residing in Quebec.

The Ultra Bomb Disaster of 2050 killed off a lot of superheroes, including twenty six of the active Gotham crimefighters, and also meant the remaining Bats took in a lot of orphaned meta kids who bolstered their ranks further with the next generation. Now, why did I put myself through this madness? Because I needed the full background prepared for my new story, HYPERTIME, starring March Wayne, Robin #26, and her cousin Lina Graysmith, the one and only Stormbird.
The multiverse is not prepared.

Photo
The idea was to fill up the tank and just go for a few hours, see what I might see. What I saw mostly was much as I’ve seen before: there’s only so much of flat Illinois (or Indiana) that looks different enough to warrant some photos. But, unless one goes, one never knows, y’know?
Other shots from Illinois:
The route of the drive began along Illinois Rt 9, and passed through a number of small municipalities, most around 4,000 people or a little less. Among them East Lyn, Rankin, Paxton and Gibson City. Gibson City featured a large grain silo attached to a small corn processing plant, with a welter of rails passing through the city’s west side.
I found it ironic that the best view of the plant and its tall concrete structures was from an old cemetery, and across the street was a mobile home “estate;” I mean, it’s like an encapsulation of the nation.
Union Pacific trackage near I-55.

The Russian Sleep Deprivation Experiment
The Russian Sleep Deprivation Experiment
This is a whacked out story about a crazy-assed experiment our friends the Russian’s were performing in the 1940’s. Folks just lost their damned minds during the 40’s! Everybody was in the middle of doing these brutal and grotesque experiments in the name of science and defense back in the day, and that included the Russians. Why should they miss out on being sadistic bastards when everyone…

Addiction quotes for family
Drug Addiction Quotes Overview
Many people don’t understand why or how other people become addicted to drugs. They may mistakenly think that those who use drugs lack moral principles or willpower and that they could stop their drug use simply by choosing to. In reality, drug addiction is a complex disease, and quitting usually takes more than good intentions or a strong will. Drugs change the brain in ways that make quitting hard, even for those who want to. Fortunately, researchers know more than ever about how drugs affect the brain and have found treatments that can help people recover from drug addiction and lead productive lives.
Are you struggling with an addiction or substance use disorder? If you or someone you love is fighting against substance abuse, the following addiction quotes will help on the journey towards recovery. For even more support, contact us today at We Level Up FL for addiction treatment options.

Drug Addiction Quotes for Family
Addiction is a condition with far-reaching consequences. Families are torn apart, and trust is often broken.
Inspirational Drug Addiction Quotes for Addicts in Recovery
It is easier to stay out than get out.
– Mark Twain
“I got sober. I stopped killing myself with alcohol. I began to think: ‘Wait a minute – if I can stop doing this, what are the possibilities?’ And slowly it dawned on me that it was maybe worth the risk.“
– Craig Ferguson
“Hardships often prepare ordinary people for an extraordinary destiny.“
– C.S. Lewis
“If you can quit for a day, you can quit for a lifetime.“
– Benjamin Alire Sáenz
“Drugs take you to hell, disguised as heaven.“
– Donald Lyn Frost
“I think that little by little I’ll be able to solve my problems and survive.“
– Frida Kahlo
“One of the hardest things was learning that I was worth recovery.“
– Demi Lovato
“I used to think a drug addict was someone who lived on the far edges of society. Wild-eyed, shaven-headed and living in a filthy squat. That was until I became one…“
– Cathryn Kemp
“Not all addictions are rooted in abuse or trauma, but I do believe they can all be traced to painful experience. A hurt is at the center of all addictive behaviors.“
– Gabor Mate
“For all the alcoholics and addicts out there, you are loved, stop being so stubborn and come in from the cold. Wherever you are, there is a brighter light in your sight. Move towards it every day, and keep moving towards it. Even the worst and strongest addiction is a choice – a choice not to fight, to give up, to indulge the impulse, or instead to accept the hands offered you to help.“
– Dave Pryor
“I used drugs to feel better. I quit drugs to be better.“
– Unknown
“Most addicts I have talked to report a similar experience. They did not start using drugs for any reason they can remember. They just drifted along until they got hooked. If you have never been addicted, you can have no clear idea what it means to need junk with the addict’s special need. You don’t decide to be an addict. One morning you wake up sick and you’re an addict.“
– William S. Burroughs
“Addictions… started out like magical pets, pocket monsters. They did extraordinary tricks, showed you things you hadn’t seen, were fun. But came, through some gradual dire alchemy, to make decisions for you. Eventually, they were making your most crucial life-decisions. And they were… less intelligent than goldfish“
– William Gibson
Drug Addiction Quotes for Parents
“Imperfect parenting does not cause addiction. If that were so, everyone would be one.“
– Sandy Swenson
“It’s like an addiction, one I battle every day. It appeared at first drink. I was becoming the very thing I feared – my father’s son. I wanted to be as far away from that Threshold as possible. I swore I’d never take another sip, no matter how crazy it made me. No matter how much it called to me. Resisting became easier with time.“
– Sara Ella
“You cannot quite understand the power of addiction until you have seen it firsthand. Until you have seen it eat like acid through everything you are. It is astounding to watch. Its slow and total corrosion of your entire life is mesmerizing. As you watch it, you keep thinking, “At some point, the corrosion will stop. There is no way it will be able to eat through this next thing. This next thing is too important to me.” But then it does. It eats through everything. And you realize you are dealing with a vast and inhuman power.“
– Mother Horse Eyes
