Women in Sport Awards 2019
Women in Sport Awards 2019
Veamos!
20. Lucy Bartholomew.

Australian Survivor Champions vs Contenders Final Thoughts on Contestants (1st-14th)
Shane Gould: A great Social Game and was an expert at pulling off Big Blindsides and was able to defeat all the odds despite her age still won the game! Proves that age means nothing in the game and that you really don’t Fuck with Shane Gould!
Sharn Coombes: A well rounded contestant Great Social Game, Amazing Psychical Threat and amazing Strategic Threat she was my winner pick when she made it too F3 but her downfall was just 1 big mistake.
Brian Lake: A sneaky, stubborn and cocky individual and a comp beast was unapologetic with this game-play and attitude but did enjoy that everything he did was for himself and his children.
Shonee Fairfax: Queen Shonee and our Robbed Goddess she was an aggressive strategic player was able to play perfectly under the radar and was able to use people’s perceptions against her to her advantage.
Monika Radulovic: Her edit was so bad it did her no justice but she played an amazing social game probably the best out off the last 3 seasons lasting 47 days without your name being written against you is an impressive feat. Also how do you last that long in the jungle and still look good!
Fenella McGowan: A swift, agile and easily underestimated player who’s social game was impressive as well wish made sure to have good connections with everyone wish she had more screen time to show that though.
Steve Willis (Commando): Quiet but was honestly more interesting to watch when he was on the Jury he could have gone far if his morals didn't get in his way but Commando was probably the reason why this show had started getting higher views.
Benji Wilson: This sneaky, lieing, backstabbing boi but damn was he fun to watch and was also super hot he wasn't afraid to make lies up and was a huge strategic threat but he wanted to make big moves and didn't think of the aftermath which was his undoing.
Mat Rogers: “The Godfather” or “The King” was a dominating force in the Champions Alliance and I thought was going to make it far but he was cocky till the very end I did appreciate how he enjoyed the game and wasn't afraid to make movies.
Samuel Hinton: Was super clever and and was able to put himself in a good positions with in the Champions Alliance was goofy and hilarious to watch and was his own undoing which sucks.
Robbie Skibicki: Beefcake! I mean what a hottie and an amazing at challenges did lack strategic prowess and relied on Benji for that but he was fun to watch especially when you say his butt!
Lydia Lassila: I cannot remember the last time there was a FEMALE COMP BEAST! This Olympian was a beast at challenges and was dubbed “The Queen” and she earned that she was pivotal when it came to voting out contestants and an active game player from Day 1
Heath Davies: Oh Heath what a Gentle Giant he was the Leader of the Contenders and was one of the very few to play his idol correctly was a physical player and just seemed genuinely sweet
Tegan Gasior: Clearly a strategic threat and I honestly thought she was gonna go far but that it took them 3 TIMES to send her home like she won’t go home without a fight and spoke her mind and loved every time she showed up on screen also she looked good at the reunion.

Happy International Women's Day
Happy International Women’s Day. Since it is international woman’s day, I’m going to acknowledge the female athletes I look up to the most. The first is Maria Sharapova. She is the one that inspired me to be an athlete in the first place, and still does. She taught me to try my best, no matter the situation. And she taught me how to fight. Sharapova is who I model myself around. The second women I look up to the most is Lydia Lassila. She came in later in my junior life. But she taught me to push the boundaries, and to have confidence in what I do. She also taught me that greatness is far more satisfactory then winning is. I have looked up to these women for a long time now, and they have influenced the athlete that I am and the athlete that I want to be #internationalwomensday

Winter Olympics 2022: Lydia Lassila tips Aussies to break 12-year gold medal drought in Beijing
Winter Olympics 2022: Lydia Lassila tips Aussies to break 12-year gold medal drought in Beijing
When Lydia Lassila won the women’s aerials title at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, Australia’s gold rush was showing no signs of ever stopping. At the peak of her powers, Lassila was one of two Aussies to strike gold that week, following snowboarder Torah Bright, who won the women’s half-pipe just six days earlier. After short-track speed skater Steven Bradbury’s incredible breakthrough win…

Lydia Lassila takes GOLD in the ladies aerials!
// February 24, 2010
With 3 talented Aussies making the final including current world cup champion Lydia Lassila, inspirational veteran Jacqui Cooper, and teammate Liz Gardner, there was certainly plenty to be confident about while taking on the strong up-and-coming Chinese team.
Keeping us all breathless until the last round of jumps, ultimately the gorgeous Lydia Lassila landed one of her trademark jumps, a difficult triple-flipping, triple-twisting maneuver that had gave her a total score of 214.74, just 7 points ahead of her nearest Chinese opponent and securing Australia's second gold!

Taking Australia's overall tally to three 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic medals (2x gold, 1x silver), it represents Australia's most successful Winter Olympic performance in history and provided Lydia with more than enough ammunition to push the need for better home-soil facilities (reducing the need for athletes to be based outside of Australia full-time for training) and funding for the sport when she spoke with Australian Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd.
I'm really proud of Lydia and also Jacqui, who finished a olympic-best 5th place, and Liz (12th). The girls were outstanding and ensured that Australia's historical dominance of the women's circuit for aerial skiing is maintained!

Learning about sports leadership in Tigerland
Troy Jones decided to make the leap and enrol in a Diploma in Sports Management/Diploma of Leadership and Management at the Richmond Institute of Sports Leadership.
Troy’s story
I enrolled in the Richmond Institute of Sports Leadership (RISL) after completing a Bachelor of Psychological Studies at Victoria University. After graduating, I realised that being a sports psychologist wasn’t really what I wanted to do.
After some research, I decided to enrol in the Richmond Institute of Sports Leadership (RISL) program, hoping it would give me the opportunity to work in a sporting environment at an elite level.
This course has delivered everything it promised and more. During this year, I’ve worked across various departments at the Richmond Football Club. I’ve helped the membership team on game days, worked with the Korin Gamadji Institute program participants at the ‘Dreamtime at the G’ match, run a warm-down session for the Lagunta’s team and helped organise a day of the Bachar Houli Cup.
During the year, I’ve learnt a lot about myself, the type of person I am, and what I can do to improve myself. I’ve found the course extremely relevant from a coaching perspective. I had never coached before and I quickly learned many techniques for effective coaching from elite coaches and sporting superstars.
The course has also helped me become fitter through the gym work that forms part of the program.
I’ve had the chance to meet and learn from sporting legends like Madi Robinson, Jordan Berry, Lydia Lassila, Brendon Gale and Lisa Alexander. I’ve also had the unique opportunity to check out the elite facilities of other sports teams.
Troy scored the chance to meet NFL player Jordan Berry during his course.
By the end of the course I’ll have gained a Diploma of Sports Development / Diploma of Leadership and Management. I can use this to further myself in the sporting industry and work my way towards a full-time role in a sporting organisation.
I have already been offered a position as a Membership Sales Officer at the Richmond Football Club on a casual basis. Most importantly, I have also made many lifelong friends that I will keep in contact with after we graduate.
I believe this course is fantastic and if you have any doubt, come along to an Open Day and it won’t disappoint you.
