Dialogue transcripts:
Panel 1 Quincey: There’s somethin’ I don’t get. Why’s the professor so tight-lipped about it all? With a story like that, he’d be known the world over.
Panel 2 Jekyll: I hesitate to discuss it in…mixed company. Mina: I assure you, Doctor, it will go no further than this room.
Panel 3 Jekyll: Very well. To put it delicately, the French are…somewhat more liberal on certain matters than the English. I believe the professor was…very fond of the captain.
Panel 4 Griffin: It would take a lot more than fondness to keep a secret like that! Maybe bribery? Blackmail? Irene: He means they were in love, Griffin. Griffin: Ohh! Then why didn’t you just say so?
Panel 5 Jekyll: I, er, I felt it was…I mean…I didn’t wish to shock anyone…
Panel 6 Mina: That is hardly a shock, Dr. Jekyll. That is, let’s say I have encountered it before. Jekyll: Who would you know…
Panel 7 Quincey: Oh, she knows a few. Jekyll: I-I see.
Panel 8 Griffin: Wwwait, you two—? Arthur: Three, once we save Jack.
Panel 9 Jekyll: I see…Lord Godalming, Mr. Morris, your secret is safe with me. Quincey: Much obliged, Doc. Now, this Captain Nemo… Griffin (offscreen): All three of you!? You’ve certainly kept things under tight wraps since I’ve been here…

Panel 1
Mina: It’s not ideal, but our situation is desperate…
Panel 2
Arthur: Should we call the locksmith again this time?
Quincey: Reckon folks’ll know a professor’s office more than an old shack…
Panel 3
Griffin: Once again, you’ll see the benefit to being an ally of The Invisible Man!
Jekyll: The rest of you may do as you please, but I will have no part of it!
Panel 4
Irene: I’ve certainly done worse.
Griffin: And I’ve done worse still! Besides, we don’t have to take it, just read it—he’ll never know!
Panel 5
Jekyll: And why do you care, Mr. Griffin, since you disavow all friendship?
Griffin: The first man not to come at me with a damned torch and pitchfork…Fine!
Panel 6
Griffin: You’ve wrested it out of me! Is it so surprising I don’t want to see that bleeding heart dead? Even that simpering doctor friend of his; surely I owe them both in, in a purely transactional sense!
Panel 7
Mina: Mr. Griffin, I had no idea…
Irene: Let’s go, before any of us loses our nerve!

Panel 1
Jekyll: This diary… has been most elucidating, I will not deny. It certainly explains the attacks of a few years ago, but not the most recent attacks.
Irene (offscreen): Why not?
Panel 2
Jekyll: That greenish substance, for one. You mentioned it was found on the wreckage of these attacks, but the good professor makes no mention of it—only of an electric light, which would leave no such residue.
Panel 3
Irene: A light—! I thought I saw one beneath the water during the storm, when we were trying to find…
Mina: Please, Dr. Jekyll, tell us all you can.
Panel 5
Panel 4
Jekyll: *sigh* Very well. As you suspected, Mrs. Norton, there is far more to Professor Aronnax’s journey than he has shared publicly, beginning from the moment he was lost overboard.
Jekyll, narrating: They were saved in an extraordinary fashion—brought aboard a vessel that travels under the sea. The captain, who called himself ‘Nemo’, was… a queer fellow, with many secrets. He refused to release them, lest the secret of his existence be discovered.
Panel 6
Griffin: A submarine! The old man’s less dull than I thought! How’d he get away, after all that?
Jekyll: He released them, though not until after seriously endangering their lives.
Panel 7
Jekyll, narrating: The three men were treated well—the professor most of all. Yet while voyaging near the South Pole, the ship became trapped under the ice, and the professor nearly suffocated. The captain became moody and avoided their company; then without explanation, freed them on an island off the coast of South America.

Irene: <Is it so late already? Oh, how the time flies! Thank you so much, both of you, but I’m afraid I must go, or I will miss the ferry back to England!>
Panel 2
Conseil: <“It is still early, and there are more ferries through the day; won’t you finish your tea?>
Irene: <I am sorry, I have some errands yet to run while I am in Paris.>
Panel 3
Aronnax: <Of course, madame. It was a pleasure to have you visit. Should you come by Paris again, do bring your charming husband!>
Panel 4
Irene: You weren’t supposed to take it!
Panel 5
Griffin: I couldn’t read it—I didn’t know it would be in French!
Panel 6
Irene: I told you he only spoke French.
Griffin: But you didn’t say his diary—
Panel 7
Irene: His diary would be even more likely to be in French! Why suggest the idea if you couldn’t read the language?
Panel 8
Griffin: …I didn't think that far ahead.

HOLY SHIT
So I’m really really enjoying @mayhemchicken / @lxgentlefolkcomic ‘s comic “The League of Extraordinary Gentlefolk” which is everything I wanted the Moore comic to be (e.g. actually faithful to the characters personalities in the canon books) and so of course I had to design a fancy cover for it xD
The profiles are of the characters that have been said to make up the main team in the comic (not all have shown up yet) but there’s Irene Adler-Norton on top, the two happily married Harkers side by side beneath her, the Invisible Man in the middle with Dr Seward on the right and Dr Jekyll (with the shadow of Hyde) on the left and Capt. Nemo in the bottom!
Please go check out the comic @lxgentlefolkcomic , it’s on its first chapter and already soooo good!

Irene: Remember, simply look through the diary as quickly as possible while I distract the Professor.
Griffin: I know, I know!

Aronnax, offscreen: <And how is our dear Ned?>
Conseil, offscreen: <He is well, although still won’t touch seafood. He plans to visit next week while in town, if Monsieur wishes.>
Panel 3
Aronnax, offscreen: <That would be lovely!>
Griffin: Two of them? You didn’t say—
Irene: Bonjour, Monsieur le Professeur!
Panel 4
Aronnax: <Ah, Mrs. Norton! Welcome! I hope your trip was pleasant. This is my worthy assistant, Conseil.>
Panel 5
Irene: <A pleasure.>
Conseil: <Likewise, Madam. If you’ll excuse me, I’ll fetch tea.>
Panel 6
Aronnax: <I see we do not have the pleasure of your husband’s company today. Was he not able to come?>
Panel 7
Irene: <No, he’s…He’s gone. He had business to attend to.>

Griffin: Ugh, I think I caught another cold…
Panel 2
Mina: You look like you’re not having much luck.
Irene: I never imagined such an academic-sounding diary. There are tenses here I’ve never even heard before. I’m better with spoken French.
Panel 3
Jekyll: You’ve never read a book in French?
Irene: Certainly nothing like this! It’s half a novel, half scientific gobbledygook. What about you?
Panel 4
Jekyll: Well, I’ve read a few scientific papers and a novel or two, but…
Panel 5
Jekyll: …No! I told you, I won’t be party to this intrusion!
Panel 6
Mina: Doctor, I don’t like it either…but if he knows something, we could save lives, and not just our husbands’.
Panel 7
Mina: We’ll minimize exposure. You don’t have to translate all of it, not the most private parts. And once you’ve finished, we’ll take it right back.
Jekyll: Fine, fine. I’ll skim through it for anything useful.

Panel 2
Griffin: Your husbands go overboard, and all you do is slink home to cry about it? Just leaving Harker—a-and the others—leaving them behind to drown?
Irene: You go too far—
Panel 3
Jekyll: Mr. Griffin, that’s enough! I understand you’re worried for Mr. Harker, but this behavior is unbecoming of a man of science—and it will do your friend no good.
Panel 4
Mina: We’re all exhausted, and the stress is telling on us. Let’s sit down and have some food, and we’ll be at our best to plan a rescue.

Panel 1
Mina: Right…first, we need information. Irene, your notes on Professor Aronnax said you felt there was more to learn from him?
Panel 2
Irene: I did. There were so many holes in his story, and even though Godfrey can’t…couldn’t speak French, he could tell the Professor was anxious and conflicted.
Panel 3
Griffin: That’s it! We just need to wring the truth out of this shifty professor! Give me half a minute with him, I bet I could have him singing like a—
Panel 4
Mina: Mr. Griffin, please. Go on, Irene.
Panel 5
Irene: Luckily, he invited us back before our visit ended. If I interviewed him again, surely the news that our husbands are missing because of this thing will jar him from his silence.
Panel 6
Griffin: More likely that he’d simply lie again. Whatever held his tongue before, another sob story won’t loosen it!
Mina: Even if that’s true, we’re not going to—to attack or kidnap a man over it, Mr. Griffin.
Panel 7
Griffin: Well…what about that journal Norton saw, then? That might be useful.
Panel 8
Irene: Ah, yes—Godfrey saw a waterlogged book labelled as a journal in his bookcase. We thought it might be his diary from his time at sea.
Panel 9
Arthur: If he wouldn't tell you the truth himself, he'd hardly hand over his diary.
Irene: We're not saying he would...
Panel 10
Jekyll: Are you seriously suggesting—!?

Mina: Another incident, look! It also mentions that strange glowing substance in the water.
Arthur: “Mysterious Boat Crash Off Isle of Shippey.” Why, that’s not far from here! I could have us on the water in two shakes—
Panel 2
Mina: “I think we ought to do a little planning first.”
Arthur (offscreen): “Aw…”
Panel 3
Jonathan: Have you two received word from Seward? The last we heard, he was going to go through recent medical reports for us.
Panel 4
Arthur: I believe he said he’d received a promising lead.
Quincey: Yeah, then he rushed off, no details. That was early this morning.
Panel 5
Mina: It’s a pity Professor Van Helsing couldn’t join us from Amsterdam. He might have had some insight for us.
Panel 6
Irene: These stories all seem to contradict each other, except for that glowing substance. It reminds me of— …Any luck on your side, Mr. Griffin?

Irene: Now that you’re back in the land of the waking, Mr. Griffin, have you found anything of use?
Griffin (offscreen): In all this silly nonsense? Hardly!
Panel 2
Griffin: Just look at this! “Pirate Attack Averted By Punctual Crocodile” —Ridiculous!
Panel 3
Jonathan: Mr. Griffin, I wish you would take this seriously—
Griffin: It’s not that. I’m simply bored to death of scrounging through these inane gossip rags. When's lunch? I can’t work on an empty stomach!
Panel 4
Mina: Breakfast was hardly two hours ago. Rest assured, we’ve no plans to starve you.
Panel 5
Griffin: Grumble
Panel 6
Jack: I believe I've found something!
Arthur: Oh, good show, Jack!
Panel 7
Jack: It may be nothing, but, ah…It’s an odd case from a few years back. A French professor and two others were found after more than half a year lost at sea.
Quincey: Say, wasn’t there another string of attacks a few years back? That’d set this around the same time.

Mina: It’s worth investigating. Who were the people involved?
Panel 3
Jack: The professor was one Pierre Aronnax. He had joined an expedition to find—er—a dangerous sea creature.
Panel 4
Irene: The great sea monster! He said it was possibly a giant narwhal. Oh, I remember that!
Panel 5
Quincey: I’d say that’s more than tenuous, then.
Panel 6
Irene: Quite! I’ll take Godfrey with me to interview him; he’ll be delighted to meet him.
