A Strand of Silver
Five Hargreeves x Fem!reader
Warnings: none
Y/n Hargreeves was having one of those mornings. You know the type: spilled coffee, mismatched socks, and the eternal struggle to find her keys. As she rushed into the bathroom to get ready for the day, she caught a glimpse of herself in the mirror. Normally, she didn’t scrutinize her reflection too much, but today, something shiny caught her eye.
“Wait, what?” Y/n muttered, leaning closer to the mirror.
There, in the midst of her hair, was a single, unmistakable strand of silver. She plucked it out and held it up to the light, squinting at it as if it were some foreign object.
“Oh, no,” she groaned, her voice tinged with melodrama. “I’m turning into my mother!”
Just as Y/n was contemplating her impending transformation into a full-fledged silver fox, Five Hargreeves walked into the bathroom, his shirt half-tucked and his tie in a state of disarray.
“Why do you look like you’ve seen a ghost?” he asked, eyebrow arched in amusement.
Y/n turned to him, holding up the gray hair as if it were evidence of a crime. “Look at this!” she said, her tone a mix of shock and horror. “Gray hair! I’m only 35!”
Five peered at the hair, then back at Y/n, a smirk spreading across his face. “Welcome to the club, darling. Want me to dye mine gray so we can match?”
Y/n glared at him, though her lips twitched in a reluctant smile. “It’s not funny, Five. I thought I had more time before this started happening.”
Five leaned against the doorframe, crossing his arms. “Oh, it’s hilarious. You’re acting like this is the end of the world.”
Y/n huffed, tossing the gray hair into the sink. “You’re supposed to be supportive, not laugh at me.”
Five’s smirk softened into a genuine smile. “I am supportive. I support the fact that you’re still gorgeous, gray hair and all.”
Their playful banter was interrupted by a loud crash from the kitchen, followed by a muffled “Sorry!” Y/n sighed, recognizing the chaos as her brother-in-law Klaus’s doing.
“Maybe I should just let my hair go completely gray,” she muttered, “and scare the life out of Klaus.”
Five laughed, stepping closer to her. “Klaus would probably think it’s cool and start a new trend.”
Y/n rolled her eyes, but she couldn’t help but laugh, too. “Yeah, you’re probably right.”
Five wrapped his arms around her, pulling her into a hug. “Listen, I love you, gray hair and all. Actually, it’s kind of sexy. Makes you look distinguished.”
Y/n snorted, leaning into him. “You’re such a liar.”
“Nope, just a man with great taste,” Five replied, kissing the top of her head.
As they headed into the kitchen to see what chaos awaited them, Y/n tried to push the gray hair out of her mind. It was just one strand, after all. How bad could it be?
Klaus, Luther, and Diego were in the middle of a heated debate over who had the best waffle recipe when Five and Y/n entered the kitchen. Luther was holding a spatula like a weapon, and Klaus was dramatically waving a bottle of syrup around.
“Hey, guys,” Y/n said, trying to sound casual. “Do you think gray hair makes me look older?”
The room went silent as all eyes turned to her. Luther looked thoughtful, Diego just shrugged, and Klaus... well, Klaus being Klaus, decided to take it to the next level.
“Oh, honey,” Klaus said, rushing over to examine Y/n’s hair, “I think it makes you look even more fabulous. Very... royal. Like a queen!”
“Like the Queen of England,” Diego added with a smirk, earning a punch on the arm from Luther.
Five burst out laughing, shaking his head. “You see, Y/n? Nothing to worry about. You’ve got the whole royal approval right here.”
Y/n shook her head, trying not to laugh. “I’m going to regret asking, aren’t I?”
Later that evening, when the chaos had settled and they were alone again, Five and Y/n found themselves back in the bathroom. Y/n was brushing her teeth, and Five was leaning against the counter, watching her with a soft smile.
“You know,” he said, his voice thoughtful, “I used to think that life was all about big moments. Saving the world, traveling through time, stopping apocalypses.”
Y/n looked at him through the mirror, raising an eyebrow. “And now?”
“Now I know it’s about the little things,” Five continued. “Like finding a gray hair and freaking out about it. Or laughing about it with you.”
Y/n rinsed her mouth and turned to face him. “You’re surprisingly sentimental tonight.”
Five shrugged, pulling her into a gentle embrace. “Just thinking about how much I love you. And how that won’t change, no matter how many gray hairs you find.”
Y/n wrapped her arms around his neck, her heart swelling with affection. “I love you, too, Five. Even if you laugh at my gray hair.”
Five chuckled, pressing a kiss to her forehead. “Deal. Now, how about we find that hair dye, just in case?”
Y/n laughed, swatting his arm. “You’re incorrigible.”
“Guilty as charged,” Five said with a grin. “But you wouldn’t have me any other way.”
Y/n smiled, leaning up to kiss him. “No, I wouldn’t. Now, let’s get to bed before Klaus decides to redecorate the kitchen again.”
With that, they headed to their bedroom, their laughter echoing through the house. It had been a day full of surprises and laughter, and as they curled up together, Y/n knew that no matter what the future held, she could face it all with Five by her side

All Five wants to do is rest. But when yet another apocalypse threatens to doom them all, he doesn't have that luxury. This time, the only solution for the Hargreeves to try and save the world is to unite Five with another, alternate version of himself.
Five starts to spiral when he is faced with the alternate life that he could have had, if only he hadn't gone and ruined everything. But maybe, just maybe, there's still time for him to obtain the happy ending he deserves.
An alternate season three rewrite for a request I received.

Chapter Six: Running Out Of Time
After another long night, and another painful transfer of powers, the second watch was complete. It wasn’t entirely necessary to build the second one, but it seemed like a good idea for backup, and since both Fives had contributed so much to making them, it only seemed fair that they both had one. This meant that Five and his siblings could return home with relative safety and correct both timelines. Once they were out of the timeline they were in now, with the Sparrows, things should return to how they were before the kugelblitz was activated. In theory, anyway. There was only one problem preventing them from going now.
“What do you mean Klaus is not here?” Five hissed through gritted teeth, leaning into Luther’s personal space and staring menacingly up at him.
“Uh, well…” Luther started, rubbing the back of his neck; clearly intimidated by his much smaller brother. “He said he was getting bored and he wanted to get out of the house.”
“And you just let him go?!”
“I mean, yeah…it’s Klaus! He’s always wandering off, but eventually he comes back.”
“Great!” Five said as he threw his hands in the air and let them drop to his sides again. “Just fantastic!” He turned to Luther again. “You know, as the leader of this family, you really do a piss poor job of actually leading.”
“Hey, don’t yell at him!” Diego interjected. “We can’t all just sit around waiting for your next order. Who do you think you are? Dad?”
Five laughed sarcastically. “Dad may have been a heartless asshole, but at least he knew how to keep you people in line. And now that I know what trying to accomplish that is like, I actually have a little more respect for the old man.”
“Come on, Five, that’s not fair,” Viktor said.
Realizing he probably was being a bit too harsh, Five backed off a little. After taking a deep breath, he spoke very evenly, trying to keep his anger in check. “Ok, let’s regroup here. Now, did Klaus tell anyone where he was going?”
The rest of the siblings exchanged glances that told Five, no, he did not tell them where he was going. As he let out a loud sigh, Jack appeared in the middle of the room with a big smile on his face. He was still very proud of his new blinking skills.
“I know where he went,” the little boy offered.
Five smiled. “Great, Jack. Where?”
“He said something about meeting a girl.”
“A girl?”
Jack blinked to the other side of the room, just to show off. “Yeah…her name is Mary Jane.”
At first there was a second of confusion and then the light bulb went on for everyone at the same time. Five groaned. “Damn it…of course our idiot brother decides to go get stoned when the world is ending.”
“As opposed to drinking himself half to death. Yeah, what an asshole,” Lila snarked with her arms folded across her chest.
Five rolled his eyes. “Fine, point taken. But we need to find Klaus so we can get out of here. I don’t know when the next kugel wave is going to come, but we’re already overdue for one so we probably don’t have much time.”
Luther raised a hand to speak. “Ok, but how are we going to know where to start? How would Klaus even know where to go in this timeline? Everything here is different.”
“It’s Klaus, he’s very resourceful,” Diego said. “I’m sure he’d figure something out…wait! Holy shit, I bet that fucker went back to the hotel.”
Allison frowned. “You think?”
“Yeah, why not? You saw all the weirdos that were there, and that used to be his hangout back in the day. It makes sense.”
“Ok, Diego and I will go find Klaus,” Five told them. “The rest of you stay here. The other me is still working downstairs and I want to make sure someone is here with Marie and the kids if another wave hits.”
“Aw…you do care! I knew it!” Luther gushed with a smile that quickly faded after the glare he received from his brother.
“Of course, I care, idiot. Despite what you all think, I’m not some monster that gets off on watching innocent kids die.”
Jack had blinked out of the room while the adults had been talking, but he suddenly appeared again right when Five was in the middle of his sentence. This time, his sister Maddie was with him. They both looked up at the group with horrified faces.
“We’re going to die?” Jack asked.
Allison jumped in. “No! No no no no…of course not, sweetie.”
“But that’s what you said. We might die.” Jack’s voice trembled and he put a protective hand on his little sister’s shoulder.
Maddie’s eyes started to well up with tears and Five tipped his head back with an exasperated sigh. “Christ.” He turned toward the kids. “Look, no one is dying, ok? At least not if I can help it. And I know your dad would never let that happen, either, ok?”
There was a very small nod from both kids, but it wasn’t very convincing. Five continued, using a much softer voice than his normal brusque one. “I need you both to stay here and be brave, ok? As long as you’re with our family, nothing bad is going to happen. Do you believe me?”
Again, there was a very slight nod, but they still looked terrified. It occurred to Five that maybe their parents had been keeping them in the dark about the severity of the situation. And now he’d gone and screwed that up. Great. Just what I need. More shit to feel guilty about.
“Who wants to play Yahtzee?” Luther asked enthusiastically as he tried to unsuccessfully change the subject. The rest of the adults, as well as the kids, just stared at him with various expressions of bewilderment. His shoulders drooped. “Ok…maybe not the best time.”
Five pinched the bridge of his nose with his fingers. “The plan stands. Diego, you and I are going to the hotel.”
“I’m coming too,” Allison said firmly, standing up with that pose that meant she wasn’t going to take no for an answer.
“Fine,” Five said, just to move things along. “Let’s go then.”
**********************
The outside world was bleak, and getting bleaker by the hour. Each new wave from the kugelblitz brought more destruction to the city and the world around them. The streets were deserted of people, with cars left in the middle of the road after their drivers had evaporated. Buildings were starting to crumble and crack, trees were being uprooted, and the sky was turning all sorts of interesting colors. It looked like Doomsday for sure.
As the three siblings walked along the couple miles to the hotel, Five got lost in his own thoughts again. When they had left, the other Five was still doing a few last minute adjustments to both watches, and Five knew that once those were finished there was no time to waste. He needed to get his family out of there before anything else happened. He had nothing really to base it on except for a strong hunch, but he suspected that he and his siblings, along with anyone else that had powers, were going to be the last to go when the world collapsed in on itself. Which meant this would at least buy his other self and his kids a little more time. He wasn’t sure about Marie, but maybe her proximity to them would be enough.
As Five trudged along with his brother and sister, Diego suddenly spoke up. “Hey, this is like old times. The three of us doing some recon together? Just like with Gerald Jenkins.”
“Harold,” both Five and Allison corrected in unison.
“Whatever,” Diego grumbled, taking out a knife that had been strapped to the outside of his leg and flipping it in the air as he walked. “I’m just saying, this is the good stuff, right here. Us, working together, solving crimes and shit.”
“We’re just trying to find Klaus,” Five mumbled, stuffing his hands in his pockets.
“Well, it’s almost like solving a crime.” Diego was silent for a minute before speaking again, this time quieter. “You know, what you said back at the house…that’s not true.”
Five looked up. “What are you talking about?”
“You said we think you’re a monster. That’s not true.”
Five was silent and then Allison piped up. “He’s right. You’re not a monster, Five. An asshole, maybe, but not a monster. You’re our brother.”
Five didn’t know what to say. He was not used to having to show emotions, let alone express them out loud. The only person he’d ever poured his heart out to was Dolores, so this was definitely new territory. Say thank you or something, idiot! They’re being nice. Be nice back!
“Yeah…” Five cleared his throat. “Ok,” he managed to rasp out, still looking at the ground as he walked. That was all he could get out at the moment, but he hoped they’d be able to read between the lines of those two lame little words. Thank you. Thank you for caring.
No one spoke the rest of the way to the hotel, but Five could see Diego and Allison exchanging glances over his head. He should have brought a flask.
As soon as they entered the lobby of the Hotel Obsidian, something felt off. Which was saying a lot, considering what a weird place it was to begin with. It was quiet. And empty. At first glance there was no sign of Klaus, either.
“Klaus!” Diego yelled out, his voice booming and echoing through the vast lobby.
Right on cue, Klaus’s head popped out from behind a red velvet couch he had been sleeping on. He looked dazed, but otherwise ok.
“Oh, hey guys,” he said airily as he sat up and turned around to face them. “What are you doing here?”
Diego threw his hands in the air. “Jesus Christ, Klaus! What are YOU doing here?”
“Well, you know…I was getting antsy in that house, so I decided to take a little walk.”
“You went to get high,” Five stated flatly.
“Well, there was that, too. But, as I’m sure you’ve noticed, there’s not a lot of people to ask for such products these days.”
The four of them took a look around the lobby again, confirming they were still the only people there.
“What happened?” Allison asked.
Klaus shrugged, standing up and stretching. “Kugel-ed I guess? It was like this when I got here. Except guess who was here? Dad.”
“What? Dad was here?” Diego asked, holding his knife in a way that meant he was ready for an attack.
“Did you talk to him?” Five asked.
Klaus nodded and then laughed. “He said we sucked so bad back in Dallas that he made sure not to adopt us as babies. Then he wanted to recruit me for some experiment or something. Oblivion something. I don’t know, I didn’t understand completely. He said it would save the world and stop the kugelblitz.”
Five looked around nervously, expecting Reginald to come striding around the corner at any moment.
“Don’t worry, he left. Said he’ll be back with the Sparrows, though. But he wanted me to wait here for him.”
“Klaus…” Allison said warily. “You weren’t waiting here for Dad, were you?”
Klaus looked guiltily to the side but when Diego and Five made disappointed groaning noises, he started to plead his case. “Listen, this Reggie is way nicer than our version ever was! And you had to be there, but what he was saying made sense. Dad always told us we were going to save the world. Well, I think this is what he meant.”
Diego stepped close to him, getting in his face and pointing the knife at his chest. “Klaus, I swear to god, you better not be considering listening to that bastard. He tortured us! Don’t you remember how many times he locked you in that mausoleum and left you there?”
“Of course I remember!” Klaus shot back. “But this is not that guy. I told you, he’s a much softer Reginald.”
Five sighed heavily. “Fuck, Klaus…we don’t have time for whatever Daddy issues you’re trying to work out here. Reginald is a conniving bastard in any timeline and we need to go!”
“But what if he’s right? What if you’re wrong and Dad is right?”
“Klaus, you can’t possibly think that, can you?” Allison asked in a slightly gentler voice than her brothers’. “Think about it. Are you really going to trust him over Five?”
“Dad has never done shit for us. But at least Five has tried. And he’s trying again, so you need to trust him.” Diego added, still in Klaus’s face.
Five’s eyebrows shot up in surprise. He hadn’t really thought about the fact that his siblings may actually trust him. Not after what happened the last two times. He assumed they were just going along with whatever he said because they had no other choice. But now they did have a choice. And it seemed they were choosing him.
No one spoke for a minute while Klaus’s eyes darted from Five to Allison, and then back to Diego. He let out a long sigh and his shoulders dropped forward.
“You’re right. I’m sorry.” He turned to Five. “You really think you and the other, hotter you, can get us back?”
“I do,” Five said with a nod. “But we have to leave. Now.”
As Diego backed off, Klaus nodded. “Alright, then. Lead the way, Cinco.”
As the four of them left out the revolving door, getting stuck only once, Klaus took one last look back at the hotel before moving on.
Diego noticed. “So, what exactly did Dad say to you to try and convince you?”
Klaus looked up with a sad smile. “He said I was truly exceptional and would be a great asset to him. Which, I realize isn’t a big deal under normal circumstances, but it was coming from Dad. Can you even think of a time when he complimented any of us?”
“Yeah, I guess I see your point,” Diego answered with shake of his head. “Damn, he really fucked us all up if that’s the biggest compliment he’s ever given his own kids.”
Five nodded as he walked quickly along. “The man is diabolical, there’s no doubt about that.” He turned to Klaus, uncharacteristically sincere. “I’m sorry you had to speak with him, I know that wasn’t easy. Thank you for trusting me.”
Klaus grinned and clapped his smaller brother on his shoulder, earning him a glare and a swat at his hand. “Hey, if anyone can get us out of here and back home, it’s you my little brosef. And might I add, I cannot wait until you are the same age as that other you, because damn…you are one smoking piece of a—”
The other three siblings groaned, cutting him off, and Five looked up at Klaus with a disgusted look on his face. “Please. Never say that again.”
“Yeah, dude, that’s pretty weird. He’s your brother,” Diego said. Then he looked at Allison. “No offense.”
She rolled her eyes but then she laughed and shrugged. “God, we are a weird fucking family.”
“That’s for damn sure,” Five muttered.
*********************************
As the small group of siblings continued down the street, another pulsing wave rushed over them and their surroundings. More buildings started to fall and giant cracks were forming in the pavement of the streets. It had been gradual, but they noticed the sky was starting to turn black with dark clouds and flashes of orange light. Allison jumped out of the way as a falling brick nearly bashed her in the head.
“Fuck,” Five exhaled. “We have to go.”
Allison brushed off the concrete dust that had fallen on her shoulder. “What if that wave just took out everyone else at the house?”
Five nodded nervously. “I’m a little concerned about that myself.” He glanced around at the other three. “We need to get there fast.”
Diego moaned when he realized what Five meant. “Oh…not again! You know I’m going to get sick, right?”
“It doesn’t matter, we’re running out of time.” Yanking Klaus closer by his wrist, and holding Allison’s hand with his other, Five gave a pointed look toward Diego.
Groaning again, Diego reluctantly grabbed onto Klaus’s arm. “I really hate this—,” he started to say before being swept up in one of Five’s blinks.
As soon as they were dropped out of the portal into the middle of the living room at the house, Diego lurched forward, holding his stomach.
“Oh god, out of the way!” he warned as he went sprinting to the bathroom.
Lila looked after him with a small shake of her head. “Giant baby.”
The other three looked around, silently counting all of the bodies in the room. It appeared that no one was missing. Even the other Five, Marie, and the kids were there. Everyone was safe. For now, at least.
“Klaus!” Viktor cried with a smile. “Oh, I’m so happy they found you.”
With a quiet laugh, Klaus flapped a hand at him. “You know me, I always come back. Like a stray cat.”
“So, you were at the hotel?” Luther asked.
Klaus nodded, but before he could explain himself, Five interjected. “Yes, he was. And he met Dad, who is definitely up to something nefarious. It’s just another reason we need to get out of here as quickly as possible. If we can restore this timeline back to normal, hopefully Reggie won’t be able to carry out whatever he has planned.”
The other Five, who had been standing with an arm around his wife’s waist, was listening intently. At the mention of Reginald’s name, he instantly tensed.
“What was he planning?” he asked Klaus; his jaw already set in anger.
“I’m not sure, but he said he needed me and the Sparrows to carry it out.” Klaus swallowed hard and looked over at Five and Allison. “Actually, he didn’t just say he needed me. He said he needed all of us. Something to do with needing as many of our powers as possible.”
Allison put a hand on her hip. “Klaus, what the hell? Why didn’t you tell us that?”
He shrugged. “I don’t know! I didn’t want you to get all weird and I figured it didn’t matter anyway. We weren’t staying.”
“I knew it,” the older-looking Five said, stepping away from his wife and balling his hands into fists at his side. “I’ve known that bastard has been up to something for years, and here’s the proof.” He looked down at his kids who were understandably worried and crowded in next to their mother. “I’ll be goddamned if I let that bastard get a hold of me or my kids.” He scanned the rest of the faces in the room. “Or any of you, for that matter. He needs to be stopped.”
Five shook his head. “It won’t matter once we can get out of here. Things will return to normal.”
Just as he said that, another wave ripped through the house and reversed itself, leaving everyone with a strange tingling feeling throughout their bodies. The kids screamed, but when the wave passed, everyone was still accounted for and the house was still standing. Outside, a large tree cracked in half and fell across the small front lawn. In the distance, more rumblings of falling buildings and cracking concrete could be heard. An eerie, orange glow seeped through the windows.
“Go get the watches,” Five told his doppelganger. “We have to go.”
The other Five hesitated. Determination and anger were written all over his face and he seemed to not even hear Five. He was lost in his own head.
“Five!” Marie said loudly, snapping him out of his thoughts. “Go! Hurry!”
He turned to her, his eyes filling with tears. “Right.” Then he took her chin in his hand and kissed her softly with a smile before bending down to hug and kiss each one of his kids. “I love you all.” Before his confused wife could respond, he was gone in a blast of blue light.
“That was weird,” Luther said under his breath to Viktor, who nodded in agreement.
“Diego!” Lila yelled out. “Are you still alive?”
“Yeah,” came his weak voice from the bathroom. “Barely.”
“Well, chuck it all up and get on with it! We gotta go!”
Five looked around nervously. Something was wrong, he could feel it. And the way his other self just acted was not sitting well with him.
“Shit,” he said to himself. Then he looked up at Marie. “I think he’s gone.”
“What do you mean he’s gone?” she asked with wide eyes.
“Come on!”
Five hurried toward the basement steps, with Marie and Klaus right behind him. When they got to the bottom of the stairs, Five saw what he was afraid of. No other Five. And only one watch on the table.
“Shit,” he groaned again.
“Oh my god,” Marie whispered as tears started to form in her eyes. “Why would he leave us like this?”
Five walked over to the desk where he had found the file folder containing the other Five’s collection of Reggie-related things. He opened the drawer and pulled the folder out, holding it up for Marie to see.
“Do you know about this?”
She shook her head. “No, what is it?”
“He’s been tracking Reginald for years. I wasn’t sure why before, but the fact that he kept it a secret from you, and his reaction just now to what Klaus told him, tells me that it’s not anything good. The watch is missing, too.” He ran a hand through his hair and exhaled a long breath. “Fuck…I think I know where he went.”
“How do you know?” Klaus asked.
“Because he’s a version of me, remember?”
Marie wiped at the tears on her face as Klaus put an arm around her shoulder. “The whole world is falling apart and he just left us? I can’t believe he would do that. I can’t…you have to get him back…I need him here. I just…please…” she cried while covering her face with her hands.
“I have the other watch and I’ll bring him back. I promise,” Five told her; his voice gentle but firm.
“I’m coming with you,” Klaus said. Five opened his mouth to argue and Klaus held up a hand. “Don’t even try arguing, old man. I’m not letting you go by yourself.”
Five thought about telling him no, but decided it would take up too much precious time. They needed to find the other Five and bring him back to his family. So, he just nodded at his brother and grabbed the other watch off the table. He strapped it to his wrist and held it up to start setting the coordinates of where he was 99% sure his other self had gone.
“So, where are we going, anyway?” Klaus asked, as he gently let Marie go and put a hand on Five’s shoulder so he could be transported along with him.
Five looked up at Klaus with a worried face. “The Academy. November 11, 2002.”
********************************
Five had been troubled by his other self’s obsession with their father, but only from the standpoint that he knew it wasn’t healthy. He understood being angry and resentful towards Reggie; that was a given. All of his kids had some lasting trauma from him. Even the stupid Sparrows probably didn’t have much love for the man. But Five had decades alone to work through his anger, whereas this version of himself had been carrying it around with him ever since he had been thrown out onto the street as a kid. It was understandable that he had a big chip on his shoulder.
But Five could see now that this obsession had reached a new level as soon as Klaus told him about Reggie needing their powers. Of course he was going to be protective of his kids, Five certainly understood that. They weren’t even his kids, but he still felt a strong connection to them. So, just the thought of Reggie trying to harm them in any way was the push his other self had needed to make him take action. Even if that meant leaving his family and placing himself in danger in order to protect them all.
Five had hoped he had set the watch correctly, because the last thing he needed was another show down with the Sparrows, even if they were only kids. So, when he and Klaus appeared in the basement of the Academy, he was relieved to see he’d calculated it correctly. They were alone, as predicted, with the everyone in the house presumably at the dinner table.
“Wow, this is weird,” Klaus said, looking around at the familiar surroundings. “It looks the same.”
Five was already on the move, creeping quietly to the stairs. When he realized Klaus wasn’t following him, he loudly whispered, “Klaus! Come on!”
“Right,” his brother said, hurrying to catch up with him. “So what’s the plan?”
“We need to get upstairs without being seen, first of all. Then, we need to find my other self before he does something stupid.”
“Are you sure he’s even here?”
Five shrugged as he made his way up the stairs. “No, I’m not. But stick close to me in case we need to jump out of here fast, ok?”
With a nod, Klaus crept in closer to Five, stepping on his heel and bumping into the back of him, almost knocking him over. Five stopped and turned around with his usual irksome glare at his sibling. “Not that close.”
“Sorry,” Klaus said with a guilty smile.
As they arrived on the main level, Five held a hand out behind him to stop Klaus until he did a quick surveillance of the area. They were in the main foyer area, with the doors to the living room closed. Five could smell their mother’s cooking again, so he knew they must be at the dining table. That feeling of regret and shame started to wash over him again. They may have been in a completely different timeline, but the day and time were the same, and it was one Five would never forget.
“Now what?” Klaus whispered.
Five was about to answer when they heard a small shuffling noise nearby. Five motioned to Klaus to follow him, making his way down one of the hallways. It was dimly lit, just like everything else in the house, but they could clearly make out a figure sitting on the floor against one of the walls.
As they approached, the figure of the other Five became clearer. He was hunched on the ground, his back against the wall, knees drawn to his chest, and arms folded across the top of them. His forehead was resting on his forearms with his eyes closed. In the hand that was closest to Five and Klaus was a pistol.
Five hesitated. He recognized the gun as Reginald’s that was kept in one of the chests near the front door. It was always kept loaded inside the drawer, for emergencies, or at least that’s what Pogo had told the children. It had never occurred to their father to be concerned for the safety of small children in the home with easy access to a loaded weapon.
“Shit,” Five whispered under his breath, glancing quickly at Klaus with a worried expression.
Five and Klaus quietly made their way closer to the Five on the floor. He seemed smaller than normal, like a child, with the way he was huddled up and curling in on himself. Five worried about the gun, and he didn’t want to make any loud or sudden movements.
When the two brothers came within a few feet of the other Five, he must have sensed their presence. With his head bolting up, the pistol was immediately aimed at their heads. The older-looking Five kept his finger on the trigger, his eyes wide and manic. Five and Klaus both froze in place and when the other Five recognized them, his eyes clouded with confusion.
He kept the gun aimed at them, but he had moved his finger off the trigger. “What are you doing here?” he hissed, trying to keep his voice down.
“Stopping you from making a big mistake,” Five whispered. “Get up off the floor and let’s go.”
His other self shook his head slowly and then looked in the direction of the front door. “He needs to be stopped. So he can’t hurt anyone anymore.”
Five swallowed. He tried to imagine himself doing this exact same thing if their past paths hadn’t deviated so drastically from one another. But Five had worked so hard for so long to get back to his family that he had a hard time imagining abandoning them in order to exact revenge on their father. But yet, that was him on the floor looking deranged and pointing a gun at him and Klaus, so it must be what he would have done.
“Five, listen…” Klaus started. “I know how you feel. Believe me, if anyone has envisioned blasting a bullet through dear old Dad’s monocle, it’s me. But after a while…it just doesn’t matter anymore.”
“He’s right,” Five said. “I wish I could change so many things from my past, but we just can’t. What has happened has happened. You can kill Reggie, but it’s not going to make you feel any better.”
The other Five laughed. “I’m quite certain I would feel loads better knowing that shit head isn’t going to be out there, torturing other kids, and ruining their lives.”
Five looked incredulous at that statement. “Ruining their lives? Your life was anything but ruined, you absolute shit-for-brains! Do you realize what you have? What most people would do to have your life? What I would do?”
His other self didn’t say anything, but he lowered the gun. His eyes remained dark and angry and he swallowed hard, looking away from the other two.
“From the looks of it, I think you already know that, don’t you?” Klaus asked softly. “Because if you were going to go through with it, you wouldn’t be sitting here looking all sad and pathetic.”
The other Five glared up at Klaus. “Maybe I hesitated, that’s true. But there’s still time.”
Five looked up and shook his head before looking back down at his other self. “Fuck…that’s the thing! There’s always time! We have infinite time at our disposal; we always have. But nothing we do is going to change what happened to us.”
“I don’t care,” the other Five snarled.
Five sighed. “Alright, how about this? What if killing Reginald right now, today, alters the world? We know the butterfly effect can do some crazy ass things, so let’s say you blow him away today and you feel better about yourself. But then you return home to find out your wife isn’t your wife and your kids never existed. What then?”
His other self looked away again, gripping and re-gripping the pistol in his hand nervously. “I don’t know.”
“But it’s entirely possible and you know it. That’s why you’re sitting here in the dark instead of doing what you set out to do.” He crossed his arms over his chest. “What do you think Marie would say about you being here? Do you think she’d be proud to hear you killed him?”
“Don’t talk about my wife! You know nothing about her…or me!”
“You’re right, I don’t know her. But I do know she’s at home in tears because she thinks you left her and your kids when the world is ending. And as for me not knowing you? I know you all too well, unfortunately. I know the way your mind works and how you operate. I know how every little thing that you have screwed up in your life eats at you until you feel like you want to crawl out of your skin. Why do you think I’m a fall down drunk half the time? For fun? No, because I want to forget every shitty thing that’s ever happened to me. I want to erase it from my mind. But all I’ve managed to do is alienate my family and become a cynical, jaded old man.”
“That’s all true,” Klaus pointed out, helpfully.
After an identical annoyed look at Klaus, both Fives faced each other again. “But he has tortured so many of us over so many timelines. He needs to be stopped,” the other Five said without as much conviction behind his words as before.
Five shook his head. “No, he doesn’t. Reginald will always be Reginald no matter what. You can destroy this one and another one will pop up again somewhere else. That’s just how it works.” He took another step closer to his other self. “Remember your first kill for the Academy? When we were eleven?”
The other Five nodded slowly. “Yeah…I remember. Snapped that guy’s neck.”
“And we had nightmares about him for weeks.”
“Yeah, and then we killed a few more, and it wasn’t as bad. What’s your point?”
“After you left the Academy, you’ve never had to kill again. And that’s because no one was forcing you into it for your own survival.” Five let out a long exhale and raked his hand through his hair. “You don’t want to do this. Because once you start killing again, you’re going to be that same, messed up eleven year-old kid again. That part never goes away, no matter how many lives you take. So, do yourself a favor. Be grateful for once in your goddamn life and go home. Go home to your family and your house, your parents that loved you, your career that you’re proud of. Don’t waste it all because of one asshole in the world that called himself our father at one point in our lives. Don’t let him define who you are.”
Neither Five said anything for a moment, and then Klaus tapped Five on the shoulder and whispered nervously to him, “I think we need to go. Listen.”
The sound of footsteps and voices started to get closer to the hallway they had been hiding in. They could make out the familiar sound of Ben’s voice and then the ominous caw of a crow.
“Shit,” Five mumbled before holding out his hand to his other self. “Come on, fuck wad, if you’re coming, we have to go. Now!”
After a few more tense seconds of the voices and bird noises growing closer, and Klaus becoming visibly agitated, the other Five grabbed Five’s hand and let him pull him off the ground. Klaus clasped onto his brother’s shoulder and the three of them were gone in a popping flash of light.

The Umbrella Academy Final Season: My Version
Part Fourteen: The Beginning Of Something
Overview: Ben, Jennifer, Klaus, and Dave become official fugitives from the law while the other siblings fight demons of their own. TW: Viktor's angry outburst scene, violence, mature language, idk what else to add, tell me if I missed anything!!! Pairings: Ben x Jennifer, Klaus x Dave, Five x OC A/N: lets hope i'm able to queue a few chapters while the holidays are going on 😔😔
Four people escaping together is not very wise. Especially when one of them is as annoying as Klaus, and the other is as curious as Jennifer.
"Slow down," she said, as Ben and Dave walked ahead, the other two only tagging along slowly.
"Hey, we've gotta keep moving," was Ben's absent-minded reply, his mind too busy trying to formulate a plan.
"No," was Jennifer's form reply. She was still trembling a bit because of the remains of adrenaline that was flowing in her body. She trusted Ben more than she'd trusted anyone in her life, but she needed to know what she had gotten out of and more importantly, what she was getting into. "End of the line. I'm not going any further with you. Not until you tell me what's going on."
"I will tell you. This is not the time," Ben hissed.
Klaus sneaked up to stand behind Dave, his eyes interested. "I sense a lover's quarrel," he whispered in a sing-songy tone.
"Then when is the time, Ben? It looks like I'm the only one who's in the dark here."
"Just for the record, I don't know what's going on either," Dave interjected, tearing his eyes off the lean, gorgeous man beside him. "But staying in one place could end up badly for us."
"Look, even if we do split up, where are you gonna go?" Ben asked.
"I'll figure it out," she said after a moment's hesitation.
He sighed, running his hands through his hair. "Look. I've killed like, two dozen people to protect you, alright? I'm not letting those fanny pack lunatics get you again."
She suddenly turned guilty, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear, ignoring the pain that the weird infection on her arm produced. "Yeah, about that. Thanks."
He only nodded with a casual shrug, rubbing the back of his neck.
Klaus found himself staring at his brother with a mix of confusion and reminiscence. His timeline's Ben had that action as a nervous tic. But it hadn't been until now that there was something common in them.
"Look, neither of us asked for this. We don't even know what this is. All I know is that... you and me? We're connected somehow. So, let's just get some rest. And then we'll figure this out together. Please."
"Awww," Klaus cooed, joining his hands together. When sirens started wailing, however, he panicked. "Shit, shit, what do we do now?"
"Let's split up," Dave suggested urgently. "You two go one way, we'll go another."
"No way. I'm not leaving you with Klaus," Ben hissed. "I don't trust you."
"But I trust him!" Klaus exclaimed, getting jittery as the sirens got louder. "Okay, Benerino, do you trust me?"
"That doesn't matter, Klaus-"
"Do you trust me, Ben?" Klaus asked, his face and tone both deadly serious.
"Yeah," Ben said with a nod. "I do."
"Good. Take care of each other and be safe from the cops, alright? And most importantly, do not die." Klaus advised, hugging his brother before grabbing Dave's hand and running away into the woods.
"What the- Klaus!" Ben called after him, before Jennifer tugged him down onto the ground as a police car passed.
"Alright. We gotta move," Ben whispered standing up and running, Jennifer sprinting behind him. Ben couldn't help but look back a few times, unusually hoping Klaus would be alright.
Simultaneously in the Hargreeves house, Luther was stress-eating a cookie on the floor dejectedly, as the others did their own things.
"You alright, big guy?" Diego asked, sitting down beside him with a loud, dramatic groan.
"We just saw Dad put a bullet in Ben's head," Luther answered. "Like it was just a regular Tuesday. So, yeah, no. I'm as good as you are."
"Yeah," Diego replied, zoning out a bit for the umpteenth time after he got out of the memory machine room. "You wanna talk about it?"
"Ben didn't even wanna go on that mission, man. I forced him. Why could I never stand up to Dad? I should've stood up for Ben. Should've stood up for the family. I should've..."
He trailed off, a lump forming in his throat as he looked at his crumbed up hands on his lap.
"I should've stood up for Sloane," he finished with a reminiscent, sad smile, before turning to Diego. "Can I ask you something?"
Diego nodded, leaning his back against the couch behind them.
"Am I a bad leader?"
"Yes," was Diego's immediate answer. "I've always told you that."
It made Luther deflate even more as he reached for more cookies to stuff in his mouth.
"But, you're not a bad person. And that's what really matters in the end, right?" Diego said, making Luther feel a little better than before.
Lila suddenly sat down beside Diego, leaning in to whisper into his ear. "Is it just me or is there tension between Five and his friend over there?"
"That's what you're thinking about while one of our brothers is parading around with a woman who could end the world?"
"Yeah, yeah, it hasn't happened yet. But just look at them, they look so nice together!"
Luther nodded in agreement as all three of them watched the couple. They were both seated on the other side of the room, hunched up together as she listened to his words intently. Her hand on his knee and the brush of her thumb on the side of it seemed absentminded, but it did seem to relax him quite a bit.
That was when they stiffened, their eyes widening just a bit.
Their brother, who hadn't been relaxed any time of day, not even with them, his family, felt... okay when he was with this woman.
"Yup, now you see it," Lila said.
However, Clementine was trying to wrap her head around the fact that there was a random subway station in which the trains went to alternate timelines.
"So there might be a way to stop all this," she murmured thoughtfully.
That got Five out of the devastating headspace as a small brush on the inside of his knee made sparks go up his nerves. After staring at her hand for a minute, he turned to look at her with confusion.
"What do you mean?"
"I'm good with maps. Even jumbled up ones. So if I could just figure out how to get to that specific timeline, then I could get back to 2006 and save your brother. Or just, y'know, stop the mission from happening."
"But you think that they're lying."
"I think that they're lying. Do you really wanna take that risk?"
"The last time I boarded that train, I almost got my head blown off."
"You're not coming."
Five blinked at her incredulously, straightening up and turning to the side completely. "What?"
"You already have all that stuff from being stuck in time for forty years. I'm not letting you come with me in case this plan fails," Clementine explained casually, stretching her arms with a sigh.
"Are you even aware of what's waiting for you if the plan fails?" Five asked through gritted teeth, his anger going through the roof.
"I do," she answered, her grey eyes firm. "That's why I don't want you to come with me."
"And what? Just leave you to wander around blindly not knowing anything about anything?"
"I'm not stupid, Five. Even if I do end up getting lost, I'll figure it out. I work best alone."
"Yes. I get it. I do too, but-"
"You don't get it. You work alone because you're used to it. It's what you've done your whole life. Making your own decisions and keeping secrets. I work alone because the plans I make are almost dumb and stupid. It always has a big chance of failing or causing trouble. And in our line of work... past or present, those results are not something that we wanna encounter."
"Tina, it would never work without a briefcase anyway."
"When you went to the other New Grumpson, didn't you say the stairs led you into the town? There might be stairs that lead you in there in this timeline as well," she speculated with a small shrug. "Who knows? Maybe we don't even need a briefcase."
Five let out an irritated sigh as she stood up to stretch her back, her shirt lifting to show just a bit of skin to distract him and warm his insides.
But his agitation stayed as he stared after her. She was as intelligent as he was. Even during his Commission days, she had been the agent he had always fought with for first place.
But their partnership had always brought in good results, so when the mission asked for it, they had been paired together.
He sighed as he tugged his cuffs forward, thinking of an argument that'll convince her to not take this ridiculous step.
Sudden footsteps made him look elsewhere, as Reggie walked in the room with a big hunting gun, the one that Five remembered was used to kill a rhinoceros in his timeline.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, what are you doing?" Lila blurted out.
"It's time to hunt," Reginald declared.
"He's gonna kill Ben all over again!" Luther exclaimed.
"Not if I have anything to say about it," Allison said, her tone low and dangerous.
"One of the hosts must be eliminated before the reaction is complete," the old man explained.
"Reaction?" Allison asked, trying to keep her rage in check. "You do realise that you're talking about human beings and not lab rats, correct?"
"Reggie, please. Listen to your children, you cannot just murder him."
"She's right, there has to be another way," Luther agreed.
"I understand. You've grown attached to your brother. But you don't seem to appreciate what's at stake here. We must act before it's too late."
Just when he turned, Allison threw a decorative item at his head with a grunt, making him fall.
"How about you shut your mouth?" Allison boomed.
"How dare you!?" Reginald shot back scandalously.
"Y'know I think it's high time you realize you're not running the show here anymore, old man," she gritted out.
Reggie, in his hastiness and recklessness, reached for his gun when he saw orange particles surround him, holding him down as Viktor yelled, "Don't even think about it!"
Viktor's powers pulsated, making Reginald struggle against the untouchable restraints.
"Do you think these childish theatrics will stop me?" The old man asked, feigning bravery.
Viktor sighed, his chest heaving. "Okay, well, I can step it up a notch if you like."
He did just as he said, pinning Reginald to the ground with his power.
"Viktor, please," Abigail pleaded. "Don't hurt him!"
"Why not?" Viktor yelled. "Why shouldn't I?" All he does is hurt everyone else! Ben, Jennifer... me. All of us."
"Oh, spare me the waterworks," Reginald taunted. "One life isn't more important than the entire planet."
"Oh, but your wife's is, huh?"
"You stuck your nose in where it doesn't belong, and you allowed Jennifer to escape. This is your fault."
Viktor got angrier as his power increased. "Oh, no, no, no! This is your fault! My whole life, all I wanted was for you to see me, to make me a part of the team. Instead, you treated me like I was broken. And I believed you! I thought you knew me better than I knew myself, but I know now that you don't know shit! You're the failure! You're the reason this happened! And I am not gonna let you kill Ben! Not now, not ever! Am I clear?"
The rest of them stared at their brother proudly at the end of his monologue, knowing that they'd kill to have the chance to yell at the man for various things. Viktor's shaky breaths rang out in the silent room, as he finally felt lighter and relieved after all that time.
Finally, Abigail placed a hand on his shoulder, squeezing it to get him back from the haze he was in.
"That's enough," she said softly. He breathed raggedly, feeling his energy all spent up. "You and your father. Both so headstrong."
Reginald got up slowly and turned just as Clementine ran in, looking like she wanted to say something, but paused, feeling the tension in the air.
"Um, sorry, am I interrupting something?" She asked.
"The something just finished. Why?" Five asked.
"Boss just called," she said, discomfort evident in her tone. "He's called us to this remote place. You, especially."
"Well, I'm busy," he muttered.
A guard approached Reginald to give him some news as well, and his face twisted into a glum mask, even if his eyes twinkled with smugness.
"It seems we may have found your brother," he said, his tone serious.
All the siblings looked at each other with a wince, wondering what was waiting for them.

The Umbrella Academy: Firecracker - Changes (9/30)
Umbrella Academy Masterlist
warnings: blood, death, fighting, substances (alcohol)
word count: 3731
The car came to a halt in front of the Academy. Diego and Luther pulled Allison's unconscious body from the back. Her neckwound had been clumsily sealed by a burn from Nailah, keeping the blood from flowing.
They carried her quickly to the infirmary of the Academy. Grace appeared fully intact and began examining Allison's lifeless body.
"She's suffered a severe laceration to her larynx. One of you will. need to give blood.", Grace diagnosed.
All of Allison's brothers as well as Nailah immediately volunteered. Luther and Nailah began pulling up their sleeves quickest. "I believe that is not possible, dear boy. Your blood is more compatible with mine. And you have unfortunately the wrong blood type, as the only one in the family might I add.", Pogo said to Luther and Nailah.
"Hey, don't sweat it. I've got this big guy!", Klaus assured presenting his forearm to Grace. "I love needles."
"Master Klaus. Your blood is... how shall I say this? Too polluted."
"Move. I'll do it.", Diego groaned. As soon as he saw the needle he fainted. "Stick him.", Pogo told Grace.
Diego was pacing around the saloon: "That bastard that nearly killed our sister's still out there with Vanya. We need to go after her."
"Vanya's not important.", Five said.
"Fuck off, Five. She's our sister. Of course she's important.", Nailah snapped, clearly on edge. She was wiping the blood off her fingers next to Five who. was nervously chewing on his nails.
"I'm not saying that I don't care about her but if the apocalypse happens today, she dies along with the seven billion of us. Harold Jenkins is our first priority.", Five stated.
"I agree. Let's go.", Diego said motioning for Nailah to follow.
"you guys count me out. I mean, you know no offense or whatever. It's just... I kind of feel like this is a whole lot of pressure for newly sober me.", Klaus began looking for an excuse.
"You're going.", Diego just announced and when Klaus tried to talk himself out of it Diego just let a knife land a few inches in front of Klaus' crotch.
"Oh, then again, a little exercise couldn't hurt.", Klaus mumbled and joined his siblings.
"Not exactly what I was expecting.", Klaus commented at the sight of Leonard Peabody dead on the floor with a dozen of sharp objects stuck in his chest.
"Not exactly what I was hoping for, either.", Nailah sighed annoyed.
"The understatement of the year.", Five said ignoring Nailah's comment while Diego shot her a warning glance.
"No sign of Vanya, though.", Klaus said sighing heavily.
"Let's get out of here before the cops come.", Diego said leaving the room.
"In a minute.", Five said pulling the prosthetic eye from his pocket. He pulled aside Harold's eye patch and inserted the glass eye into the socket.
Klaus and Nailah groaned in disgust.
"Same eye color, same pupil size, guys that's it. The eye I've been carrying around for decades it... It found its rightful home.", Five said. happily. "We found the guy we needed to kill to stop the apocalypse."
"Yay, let's go.", Klaus cheered and wanted to leave the house but Diego held him back.
"That can't be it. It's too easy.", Diego said looking at the dead body suspiciously.
Five pulled out the piece of paper from the commission: "Look, this is the note that I got from the commission. The one that says 'protect Harold Jenkins', aka Leonard Peabody. But who killed him? Who did this?"
"Who cares? He's dead. The only tragic thing about this is that it wasn't me.", Nailah groaned still standing over the body.
"Hey, I have a crazy idea. Crazy, but why don't we find Vanya and ask her what happened?", Klaus suggested while Five blitzed away.
"If Vanya got away from this asshole she might be headed back to the Academy. Let's go.", Diego thought out loud.
The brothers wanted to leave the house but Diego felt the air around Nailah heat up. "Nailah? You coming?", he asked.
Nailah just let a small fire appear in her palm, placed it above Harold's face and watched as his skin started to burn and turn a charred black. She finished quickly and turned around smiling sweetly at Diego.
"Why are you so psychotic?", he asked sighing.
"You're calling me psychotic when you know Five?", she shot right back walking out of the house.
Back at the Academy the siblings searched for Vanya.
"No sign of Vanya, she's not in any of the rooms.", Five sighed meeting up with Klaus, Diego and Nailah in the lobby.
"Well, I'm out.", Diego announced.
"Wait, what? Vanya's still out there and so are Hazel and Cha-Cha.", Five said confused.
"I know. I'm gonna get my things and then I'm outta here. I've got some unfinished business with those fools.", Diego said.
"Alright, I'm gonna go get a drink. I think I deserved it.", Nailah shrugged and cheerfully went towards the bar in the saloon.
"Hey, did dad say anything about the apocalypse when you spoke to him? Any clues as to how it happened?", Five asked Klaus still not quite used to the fact that we was now taller.
"No, no clues. Truly terrific shave. But no clues.", Klaus answered. Five rolled his eyes and began walking down the stairs.
"You know, when you think of it, he did mention something about my potential, and how I've barely scratched the surface of my...", Klaus began chasing Five.
"How did he know about the apocalypse?", Five muttered more to himself than to Klaus.
"I don't know, but listen. This whole jumping through time thing of yours, how did you know how to do that?", Klaus asked.
"I didn't. You'd realise that if you were actually sober.", Five scoffed.
"Hey, I am sober. I've been sober for two, almost two days now. It feels like 45 years."
"Who are you kidding, Klaus? I've seen you fidgeting all day.", Five stopped.
Klaus laughed dryly: "Well, I guess we've both been fighting our addictions, then."
"I'm not an addict."
"Yeah, you are. You're addicted to a drug called the apocalypse.", Klaus announced.
"You're wrong."
"First sign, denial."
"You and I, we're not the same.", Five placed a finger on Klaus' chest.
Klaus just chuckled:"I've seen that look in the eye of someone who doesn't know who they are without their high anymore. Trust me. You just gotta let it go."
Five threw the prosthetic eye against the wall breaking it into little pieces in anger. He then stomped away towards the bar.
"Figuratively, but yeah, that works too.", Klaus shouted after him.
Allison opened her eyes. Everything hurt but most of all her throat.
"No, no, no, no. Don't try to talk. It will cause more damage, all right?", Luther immediately held her hand. "Allison, I'm sorry I wasn't there. It's okay."
Allison's breathing became shallow and panicked. She motioned for Luther go give her a pen. He immediately obliged and Allison scribbled VANYA on the paper.
"Vanya. We don't know where she is.", Luther said ruffing his eyebrows.
POWERS appeared right under is. "I don't understand....", Luther confessed.
"I do. It's time for the last one of your father's secrets to come to light.", Pogo said entering the room.
Five approached the bar visibly in a bad mood.
"Margarita?", Nailah asked holding up the blender with the lime green liquid. Five popped down on a bar stool and nodded placing Delores beside him. Nailah filled a glass withe drink, some ice and topped it off with a little umbrella.
"Well, do you think we really did it? Think we actually stopped the apocalypse?", Five asked not looking at Nailah. Before she could answer she realised he was talking to Delores.
"Now what? I don't know.", Five continued his conversation while Nailah leaned against the shelves with alcohol eying him in curious confusion.
Five chuckled: "I'm open to suggestion."
A knock at the door prevented Nailah from commenting on Five's behaviour.
"I'll get it.", he said while Nailah drowned half of her Margarita in one gulp clearly disturbed by Five talking to Delores.
"You're here to kill me?", Five asked walking back into the saloon with no other than Hazel following him.
Nailah immediately summoned a fireball in her hands ready to shoot them at him. Hazel put his arms up in defense. Nailah would have burned him to the ground without hesitation if it hand't been for Five who sloppily motioned for her to put her hands down: "Relax, Firecracker. I don't think he wants to kill us. And if he does, I promise you'll get the first blow."
Nailah looked at Hazel suspiciously and slowly let the fire extinguish and lowered her hands carefully.
Hazel put the gun away: "I understand how she might react that way, you know..."
"Well, you did attack out house, tried to kill our family and kidnapped our brother.", Nailah said crossing her arms in front of her chest.
"Well, there's not much I can do about the past. I'm not the only killer in this room. You've got your own bloody history, pal. Speaking of. which, that job you did in Calhoun, that shit's legendary.", Hazel said and Nailah raised her brows sipping a bit from her margarita.
"Calhoun?", Nailah asked but got ignored.
"Hazel, why are you here?", Five asked.
"Well, I'm, you know...", Hazel began but got interrupted by Diego kicking him from behind.
Hazel fell on the ground, groaning in pain.
"Diego, stop!", Five shouted. Diego just did a flip landing in front of Hazel and screamed at him to get up before kicking him in the face.
Five rolled his eyes while Nailah scoffed: "Showoff."
"You know, before you kill him, you might wanna know what he has to say.", Five proposed calmly while watching Hazel kick Diego in the stomach sending him backwards.
"I'm gonna kill you for what you did to Patch.", Diego growled at Hazel panting heavily.
"Or don't. See how that goes.", Five muttered taking another sip from his drink. Nailah leaned on the bar and crooked her head watching the fight.
"Come on!", Hazel shouted as Diego pulled a knife and slashed his thigh. Nailah and Five hissed simultaneously. Diego delivered another series of blows to Hazel.
"Would you like to do it or should I?", Five asked as Hazel got ahold of Diego and was lifting him into the air.
Nailah shrugged taking an elegant sip from her glass: "Your monkeys, your circus."
Five smirked at her and blitzed behind Diego. Right as Diego was biting Hazel's ear, Five smashed a vase sending him into unconsciousness.
"Hazel, was it? Whatever you came here to say, I suggest you make it quick, before he comes around.", Nailah said putting down her glass.
"I left my partner, quit the commission, came to volunteer.", Hazel limped towards the bar where Five was already sipping at his drink again.
Nailah raised an eyebrow:"Oh? For what?"
"To help stop the apocalypse."
Five chuckled. "What on earth could be so funny to you right now?", Hazel asked.
"Before I answer that, why do you wanna help us?", Five asked.
"Let's just say I have a vested interest in a doughnut shop."
"Well, I hate to break it to you, pal, but you're a day late and a dollar short. The fact that you're here right now means, without a shadow. of doubt, that the apocalypse is over.", Five said playing with the umbrella.
"Really, how do you know?", Hazel asked.
"The mark is dead, found him this morning. You were the last unknown left in the equation."
"Shit. Really?", Hazel chuckled.
"And if you're out, then Hellrider ain't riding."
Hazel laughed happily, grabbed the blender with the remaining margarita mixture and drank it all in one gulp. Nailah looked at him clearly annoyed.
"May I have some, Miss Hargreeves? Yes, please, do, there you go, a glass! Thank you Miss Hargreeves. Oh you're so welcome!", Nailah muttered a wishful conversation to herself and pulled out a shot glass from under the counter. Five looked at her with a half smile.
"So now what?", Hazel asked.
"You know, to be honest I don't know.", Five answered. "I've been chasing this thing for so long... I never really thought about the day after. I don't know. What about you?"
"I'm done with all this madness. Time to start over. You should do the same.", Hazel said to which Nailah drowned her shot and poured herself another one.
Five hummed: "That's easier said than done."
"It doesn't have to be hard. I mean, think about it like this, if you never time travelled, you never caught up with the Handler, what would have happened.", Hazel assured.
"He would've driven us all insane, that's what.", Nailah commented and drowned another shot. Five send her a sarcastic smile.
"I guess I would have grown up to be an emotionally stunted man-child like everybody else around here.", Five said looking at Nailah.
She just shrugged: "I'm a women. That doesn't affect me."
Hazel chuckled: "Well, there you go. Now you can grow up. Good luck." He stood up and made his way to the door.
"Hazel. One more thing before you go. Which one of you was the trigger man for detective Patch?", Five asked to Nailah's surprise.
"Trigger woman.", Hazel corrected.
"Huh. That's too bad. That gun could've cleared our brother's name."
"Well, today's your lucky day, amigo. Take 'em both. I'm done with this life.", Hazel said pulling out two guns from there holsters and placing them on the bar in front of Nailah.
Hazel limped out of the room but before he was out of sight he turned around again with a slight smile. "Good day, Miss Hargreeves.", he said slightly bowing his head. Nailah just raised her shot glass at him tilting her head with a grin.
Diego woke up with a groan and began standing up through the shards of broken glass.
"Ready for a drink now?", Five asked.
Diego immediately jumped up looking around for Hazel. "Where is he?"
"I let him go."
"You what?"
"Now that the apocalypse is over, it's time for the fighting to stop. Hey, he didn't kill Patch. His partner Cha-Cha did.", Five tried to convince Diego.
"So what? They were both there that night."
"This half of the partnership gave me both their guns. Which will clear because the ballistics will match with the ones found on the crime scene. Hazel came here looking for a way out. He wanted a fresh start. And he happened to have in his possession the one thing that could do our family a little good. So it's time to move on.", Five explained.
Diego glanced from the guns to Five to Nailah: "Not a chance. And you're okay with that?"
"Yeah, I don't really care. We've just prevented an apocalypse and I'm drunk so I'm really not the person you should ask that.", Nailah said shrugging.
"Suit yourself.", Five sighed taking Delores gently into his arms. Nailah looked at him disgusted.
"I am curious. Your girlfriend, Patch. What did you like about her?", Five asked.
"A lot of things. Cute butt, nice legs.", Diego said.
Nailah groaned and threw a lime at Diego's head: "You men are fucking disgusting. How about something more profound than that?"
"She believed in people. No matter how much shit and filth she saw on the street. She always sae the good inside.", Diego admitted.
"Well, I'm sure she'll be proud to know that you're killing Hazel and Cha-Cha as way to honour her memory.", Five said.
Diego exhaled deeply and stormed off upstairs. Five smirked at Nailah who was still leaning on the bar, her head tilted to the side with her wild hair pooling over her shoulders and lips pressed into a curious line.
"What?", Five asked.
"You are a weird, twisted, disturbing little man, Five Hargreeves.", she said.
"Who is older and taller than you, my little Firecracker.", Five bit back with a smile.
"Call me that again and I'll burn your precious doll.", Nailah warned walking past him with a bottle of tequila.
Vanya opened the door to the academy. Slowly she walked inside and immediately saw Luther. Bursting into tears she tried to explain that it had been an accident, that she didn't mean to hurt Allison. Luther just looked at her and assured that Allison was okay and that he wasn't mad at Vanya. He opened his arms and Vanya fell into his embrace crying. Suddenly she felt his grip tighten around her. She couldn't breathe but Luther was too strong. He held her closer and closer until her vision became blurry. Dark spots danced in front of her eyes until the darkness consumed her consciousness.
Vanya woke up in a tight room. Immediately panic rushed over her. She printed towards the only window permitting contact with the outside world. She saw Diego, Luther and Klaus. standing clearly debating the situation. Vanya screamed for help but no one could hear her.
"You locked up our sister because you think she has powers.", Diego recapped disgusted.
"No, I know she does. Pogo told me. He's always known and so did dad.", Luther defended his actions.
"Why would they hide this from us?", Diego asked looking at the. tears streaming down Vanya's cheeks.
"Am I the only one that didn't know this place existed?", Klaus asked in utter shock.
"He hid so much from us. He did because he was afraid of her.", Luther said, a complete emptiness in his eyes when he looked at Vanya.
"That's ridiculous.", Klaus scoffed.
"Is it? Dad's lied about everything else. Why's this so far-fetched?"
"If you're right maybe she's the one that killed Leonard Peabody.", Diego suggested.
"And slit Allison's throat.", Luther added.
"Whoa. Let's not. Let's go back a bit, okay? This is Vanya we're talking about. Our sister. The one who always cried when we stepped on ants.", Klaus intercepted.
"I know. It's difficult to accept but...", Luther began.
"But fucking what, Luther?", Nailah asked from behind them. "Even of your right, she needs our help.", Diego added.
"And we can't do that if she's locked in a cage!", Klaus finished.
"For all we know, she might be struggling with this new power.", Nailah added.
"Look, if what Pogo told me was even half true, then she is not just a danger to us.", Luther said.
"That's it. I'm letting her out.", Nailah said.
Luther stepped in her way: "No you're not."
Nailah's eyes caught fire as heat began emitting from her body. "Step aside, Primo. Let me through or I swear to God I will burn every single hair on that monkey body of yours.", she threatened quietly. Luther stared back: "You wouldn't dare."
"Try me."
Their stare down was interrupted by Allison's silent steps.
"Allison, what are you doing here? You should be in bed.", Luther said.
Allison began scribbling in her notebook. LET HER GO.
"I can't do that. She hurt you.", Luther insisted.
MY FAULT, the next note read.
"I'm sorry but she's staying put."
"No she's not.", Nailah said, her fist catching fire but right as she was about to hit the door Luther hit her over the head making her fall to the ground unconscious.
Allison rushed over to try to open the door herself while Klaus and Diego let out surprised and angry sounds. Luther stood in Allison's way preventing her opening Vanya's prison.
"Just until we know what we're dealing with.", Luther promised. Allison looked at him with anger in her eyes. and started hitting him weakly but Luther didn't move. Allison's strength left her and she wobbled on her knees. Luther caught her gently while Diego picked up Nailah from the floor.
Form inside the cell Vanya kept on fighting, trying to break free to help her sisters but to no use. Luther kept Allison standing while he, Klaus and Diego escorted the girls to their rooms leaving Vanya screaming and alone.
Allison laid on her bed facing away from Luther who just sat at her vanity not even trying to explain himself.
Diego gently placed Nailah on her creaking bed, careful to not let her hit anything. Before he left he triple checked if she was comfortable and went to talk to Klaus about what just had happened.
Five was walking towards the mannequins at the mall with Delores in his duffle bag. He gently placed her next to the other mannequins and looked at her full of love.
"I bet it feels good to be back amongst your friends.", he said.
"And it's okay you can say it. We were alway and unlikely pair."
Five chuckled: "This isn't easy for me, Delores, and I want you to know that I cherish every single minute I ever shared with you, all 23 and half a million of them. A lifetime. Now look at us. We're lucky enough we get a second chance."
"Yeah. You are right. I do have a lot of growing up to do still. I guess I am still a twisted little man.", Five laughed quietly at Dolores.
He inhaled deeply: "I'll never forget you, Delores."
Five Hargreeves turned around and walked away.

Van Der Wulff : The Morning After
~~~~
We got home late around 2 in the morning. And while Maddy and Jules slept on the couch as soon as there heads hit the pillows. I dragged myself up three flights of stairs, showered and fell into bed.
I woke up to the alarm screaming that it was time for me to get ready and go to school. Except the sun was still down and the numbers as I pressed the alarm showed I had only been sleeping for an hour. I sighed cursing myself for the mistake fo setting the alarm too early and shifted. Thats when I saw a shadow moving towards that made me jump. Quickly I snapped on the light and took a breath.
“Luther” I whispered, my voice hoarse from sleep. “What the fuck are you doing in here?” He approached slowly, like a lion nearing its pray. It instantly made the sleep leave my body almost immediately and I sat up.
“Do you know what time it is?”
“Yeah” I looked at my phone “Too fucking early I need to sleep! Go away you're supposed to be in the guest room!” He ignored me, ripping the covers off of me. “Hey!” I shouted and he clamped one hand behind my head and the other to cover my mouth harshly.
“Shut up!” He barked and I looked up at him defiantly. “You’re too fucking loud.” He slowly released the hand that was covering my mouth.
“You’re daughter is downstairs!” I hissed quietly pushing him off of me. “Get out!”
“I really don’t understand how you’re upset.” His voice was deep and dark. His one hand that was in my hair tangled deeper and he forced me to look at him. He sat next to me “You act like I’m the bad guy here,” He starts “Like I treat you so horribly on my own accord…” He adds. “Why are you doing this to yourself disrespecting yourself with this.” he pulled out his phone clicked a few buttons and showed a picture of me - on Damiens bed only the French fan covering my body. It was taken earlier today and of course the contact was UNKNOWN. “You think he cares about you?” He said, his voice harsh and I stared at his phone “You think he can give you what I can? Some manwhore?” He released my head harshly my head knocking back into my pillow. “I came back for you to give you everything and you reward me with this?” He shook his head like a disappointed father.
"Excuse?” I shot at him standing up and marching over to him. “Who asked you to come back?" He made a face and I knew he wasn’t taking anything I said seriously. “I moved on, you should too. You're married, for fucks sake!”
“Stop being so loud, You little brat!” He hissed clamping his big hand over my mouth again. “We are separated, you know that. And I told you I’d come back for you. Stop pretending that you didn’t know I would always come back. Instead your wasting your time and mine with a series of manwhores. What is wrong with you? Did your parents fuck you up that much? Either one of them?”
“Don’t.” I warned him.
“Or is your self esteem that low? You whore yourself out? Want attention that bad from some stupid boy who would fuck anything with a hole.”
“Don’t speak that way about him!” I ordered quietening my voice as to not wake draven. Though, she did sleep like the dead. “And don’t speak to me like that!”
I watched as he turned and went to my closet, ripping the clothes from the hangers. “Short skirts, half tops, skin tight dresses,” He shook his head.
“Stop!” I hit his back but he was much taller and stronger than me. My hit did nothing. I watched as he tore through my clothes, ripping some in the process. “Dressing like a goddamn prostitute! And this dress” he held up the gold and black checkered dress I was given that used to belong to Harley. The shiny fabric quickly coming undone and he tossed it to the floor. “Enough! I’m buying your clothes now!”
“YOU ASSHOLE!” I shouted and he went to silence me again but I hit him again. He gripped my arms tight to my sides laughing. He was laughing. “Let me go!”
“Watch your mouth, or I will-” I got loose from his grip and slapped him as hard as I could. It made a satisfying sound that echoed through the whole room and I kept hitting him. Until I was tired out and just stared at him defiant. I inflicted basically no damage.
“You done?” He asked not looking at me.
“Yeah.” He quickly picked me up throwing me on my bed and was instantly all over me. His kisses forceful and uncomfortable. I tried to push him off of me but he was too big. “Get off!” I shouted but my shouts of frustration and anger were drowned out by his lips. I managed to get my knee in his stomach and crawl out from under him landing on teh floor with a harsh thud. We both paused and I strained my ears to hear some form of stirring on the floors below us.
I was so wrapped in listening if the secret had been found out that it came as a complete and utter surprise when he smacked me. My entire head was thrown to the side, turned towards my door. I was in complete shock and at a loss. I became hyper aware of his shift and I was afraid to look at him again, scared he would go off and do something worse. So I stood still. The shifting of my bed and the shadow that played off the streetlight lamps coming through my window told me he was now right next to me. “I’m sorry, snowflake.” He said softly. Like I was a new puppy that he was trying to get on his side. I didn’t look at him. “I’m so sorry I lost my temper.” I said nothing my eyes darting around the room. Looking for something, anything to defend myself with. He was talking, saying some apologies and excuses that were meaningless. Nothing he could say could make me forgive him or love him at all. I spied the baseball bat under my bed and thought ‘Could I kill him?’ If I could move quick enough I could grab it and bash his fucking brains in. The thought made me inwardly smile. J would be proud.
“I’m sorry” his forehead was on my shoulder “I’m sorry, snowflake, I will never do it again.” I heard another alarm off and figure it must be Makayla. She got up the earliest to do yoga in her art studio. Which was on this floor.
“You should go.” I said my voice sounding detached. “Makayla is going to be up here any minute.” He nods and stands up heading over to the door.
“I’m sorry, baby. Please forgive me.”
“Get out.” I ordered and just as he is in the hallway I call after him “After today, Naomi isn’t allowed to have you stay over.”
~ ~ ~ ~
Robin had the brilliant idea to steal the limo Shawn tried to impress you with. Of course, the limo was filled with your favorite liquor and a private barrier between the driver and the back. “Bring us to my house.” You said knowing the driver would remember your voice. As though on cue, music filled the back fo the limo to drown out anything Shawn was planning. It reeked of desperation.
“I didn’t know Shawn was this desperate for you.” Robin said as he poured some of teh liquor into two fo the cups and handing you one.
“Oh yeah” You nodded taking a sip. “Jealous?”
He rolled his eyes “You caught me.” He said sarcastically.
You chuckled sitting next to him and he pulled you closer to him. His hand was on your thigh, and that seems thats all it took. Soon you two were attacking each other in a mash of tongues, teeth and lips. And your dress became bunched at your waist and his pants were loose around the waist. He entered you effortlessly and there you were in the back of Shawns personal limo. Robin seducing you exactly where Shawn was, you would have laughed if you weren’t in so much pleasure. You felt high on euphoria seeing Robin come undone for you and you in turn for him.
You hadn’t even noticed that you were in front of the house until he finished the same time as you. “Um” the driver coughed “You’re home.” Robin smirked taking a few of the napkins and wiped your chest (the place he finished).
He fixed his pants and helped fix your dress before walking out of the limo and took your hand leading you out. As you approached the door, the driver looked at him shocked and surprised he wasn’t Shawn. “Thanks for the ride.” Robin winked.
He kept the smile on his face until he passed teh couch and shook his head. “I’m leaving,” he whispered to you. You looked at him confused. “SHES HOME, X!” He calls out and you look at him confused and he walks out. Leaving you standing there confused.
A few moments late you see why. Your eyes widened when you saw Xavier smoking a cigarette at the top of the stairs. “Hey baby, sorry I couldn’t go out with you. Have fun?”
y/n stared at the blue energy in the courtyard before deciding to join her siblings as they rushed to see what it was. as she ran down the stairs she caught sight of klaus holding a fire extinguisher.
"what are you doing?" she caught up with him.
"something" he shrugged, bursting out the door first. "out of the way!"
"thats not going to- klaus what the hell?" y/n went to stop him only to watch as he tried to extinguish the mass of energy. she shook her head in disbelief, stepping beside vanya.
klaus chucked the extinguisher when he realised it wouldn't work.
"what is that gonna do?" allison shouted over the loud noise. klaus threw his hands up.
"i don't know. do you have a better idea?" he stepped back in surprise as another flash came from the portal. luther pulled klaus back.
"everyone get behind me!" and in true sibling rivalry diego nodded, shielding vanya and y/n.
"yeah, get behind us!"
they watched, brows furrowing at the familiar figure that dropped to the ground. as they stepped closer the vortex disappeared.
"is that-?" y/n looked up at vanya, peeking around diego to see.
there, in a too large sized suit, stood their missing brother. he pushed himself to his feet taking in their appearance.
"does anyone else see little number five is that just me?" klaus questioned as they walked closer. the said boy stared down at himself in confusion before looking back at them.
"shit" he cursed.
--------------------------------------------------
they all moved back into the kitchen, letting five do as he pleased while he explained what he needed to.
he placed a chopping board and knife on the table while the others stood at the other end. y/n stood off to the corner, not entirely comfortable with them after being accused of murder. "what's the date? the exact date"
five walked around, grabbing bread to make himself a sandwich. vanya answered, "the 24th"
"of what?" five pushed walking back over.
"march"
"good" he pulled out two pieces of bread, laying them on the chopping board.
"so, are we going to talk about what just happened?" luther raised an eyebrow, expectantly but five stayed silent. "its been 17 years!" luther stood, frustrated but five wasn't taking any of his bullshit.
"it's been a lot longer than that" the shorter boy walked towards him before blinking behind him to grab the marshmallows. luther sighed,
"i haven't missed that"
"where'd you go?" diego piped up, unfazed.
"the future" five sighed, "and it's shit by the way" he opened up the bag of marshmallows.
"called it!" klaus raised his finger.
"do you want one?" five looked up at y/n, referring to the sandwich, a soft gleam in his eyes. the others shared a look, of course he had only missed her. she gently shook her head with a small smile. "i should have listened to the old man" five walked to the fridge, pulling out a jar. "he knew. travelling through space is one thing, travelling through time is a toss of the dice"
he paused as he opened the peanut butter, looking up at them again before noticing klaus' attire. "nice dress"
"oh, danke" klaus twirled loose material around. allison rolled her eyes.
"how did you get back?"
"in the end i had to project my consciousness forward into a suspended quantum state version of myself that exists across every possible instance of time" he continued making his sandwich like he hadn't just shocked them.
"that makes no sense" diego scoffed,
"well, it would if you were smarter" five shrugged, ignoring the way diego stood up to fight him. luther held him back.
"did you put a decimal point in the wrong spot?" y/n asked, surprising the others. she crossed her arms, thinking "it was probably a miscalculation in your proof of the existence of a bound for the number of limit cycles of planar polynomial vector fields of fixed degree."
five paused, thinking it over before realising she was right. "it should have been 0.57" he mumbled.
"how long were you there?" luther changed the subject, obviously confused.
"45 years" five went back to his sandwich making. "give or take"
everyone sat back down in shock.
"so what are you saying? that you're 58?!" luther narrowed his eyes in disbelief. there was no way.
"no" five looked up, speaking through gritted teeth. "my consciousness is 58. apparently my body is now 16 again"
"how does that even work?" vanya croaked out, still shocked at the situation.
"delores kept saying the equations were off" five shrugged, stepping away and looking off into the distance as he took a bite of his sandwich. "bet she's laughing now"
"delores?" vanya asked. y/n froze, he had kept her? at the girl's movement, or lack thereof, allison looked over at her, raising her eyebrows.
y/n shook her head, waving it off.
five picked up the newspaper on the table, staring at the picture of their father.
"hm.. guess i missed the funeral"
"how'd you know about that?" luther questioned, defensive.
"what part of the future do you not understand?" five narrowed his eyes, slightly amused by his brothers incompetence. "heart failure, huh?"
"yeah-" diego started only to be cut off by luther.
"no" there was silence for a moment before a kitchen knife stabbed into the table beside luther's hand.
"if i had murderous intent, luther, you'd be the first on my list" y/n scoffed, walking out.
they all stared after her in shock.
"nice to see nothing's changed" five sighed before following her out.
"thats it?" allison asked, turning towards him as he walked. "thats all you have to say?"
"what else is there to say? circle of life" he called back.
--------------------------------------------------
vanya walked up to five in the parlour where he stood staring at his painting.
"nice to know dad didn't forget me" five turned to her, "read your book by the way.. found it in the library that was still standing"
he started to walk around, noticing y/n sitting on the balcony above. she had her legs dangling through the bars, calmly reading a book. he turned back to vanya.
"thought it was pretty good, all things considered" he stared her down, "definitely ballsy, giving up the family secrets. sure that went over well"
"they hate me" vanya frowned,
"well there are worse things that can happen" five was obviously trying to cheer her up, in his own way.
"you mean like what happened to ben?" there was a pause, both thinking it over.
"was it bad?" five asked softly, he knew y/n was still listening. he heard the faint sound of a book shutting. he looked away as vanya nodded.
"y/n had a hard time dealing with it.. the worst of all of us. dad forbid her from going on missions after her reaction.."
"her reaction?" five turned back, eyebrows furrowing, this wasn't in vanya's book.
"she nearly tore our souls out.. she was devastated and couldn't control her emotions. dad said it helped her though, something about a new ability. he trained her alone from then, forcing her to find you" vanya shrugged, sighing, going silent.
"find me?" five pushed, "what do you mean find me?"
"she said she did.. did she not?" vanya looked surprised now.
"no, no she did.. just didn't stay long is all" five shook his head, frowning.
"yeah well, they stopped trying when she lied to dad"
"she lied?" five looked back up at where she was previously sitting but now she was gone, the only thing left behind was her book and a wisp of smoke.
--------------------------------------------------
"ben.. i'm- i'm scared" eight sat cross legged in front of his statue. "my powers are getting stronger and i'm scared to hurt the others. i wish you were still here" she refused to cry no matter how much she wanted to. she couldn't let the same thing happen.
"i'm scared ben. what if i can't control it? what if hurt somebody? you're not here to help me and i-.. it hurts sometimes. dad doesn't understand, he never did but it hurts to suppress my emotions like he wants me to. we try so hard and he still never thinks we're enough.." she paused, pulling her knees up to her chest. "what if i am weak? what if he's right?"
unbeknownst to her ben's ghost sat beside her. "you're not weak" he shook his head, moving to look at her face. "you'll never be weak, you're so strong. please keep being strong for me" he pleaded with her as she continued to blame herself. he hated this. he hated not being there for her. he just wanted her to be okay.
--------------------------------------------------
y/n walked beside five, standing under his umbrella with him. they didn't speak as they walked back out into the courtyard. the siblings all stood in line with luther in front of them, carrying their dad's ashes.
"did something happen?" grace looked at them all, smiling despite the occasion. they all looked up at her.
"dad died.." allison answered, confused. "remember?"
"oh, yes of course" grace nodded, expression turning more somber.
"is mom okay?" allison asked, now worried about how grace was acting.
"yeah, yeah she's fine" diego quickly defended, "she just needs to rest, you know, recharge" allison looked incredulous but dropped it nonetheless.
pogo stepped forwards, looking up at luther. "whenever you're ready, dear boy"
luther breathed out, opening the lid and dropping the ashes in a pitiful pile. they all frowned.
"probably would have been better with some wind" luther griped,
"does anyone wish to speak?" pogo ignored it, looking at the rest of them. everyone stayed silent, looking away. "very well.. in all regards, sir reginald hargreeves made me what i am today, for that alone i shall forever be in his debt. he was my master and my friend and i shall miss him very much.." he paused, "he leaves behind a complicated legacy-"
"he was a monster" diego cut off, still staring down at the ashes. klaus laughed. "he was bad person and a worse father. the world's better off without him-"
"diego" allison scolded, glaring at him in surprise.
"my name is number two. you know why?" he looked over at her. "because our father couldn't be bothered to give us actual names, he had mom do it"
"would anyone like something to eat?" grace asked, smiling again, unaware of what was happening.
"no, its okay mom" vanya denied, albeit confused.
"oh, okay"
"look, you wanna pay your respects" diego stepped out in front of them, "go head, but at least be honest about the kind of man he was" he looked at pogo now.
"you should stop talking now" luther warned, anger growing. diego glared at him for a moment before fully turning to face him.
"you know, you of all people should be on my side here, number one"
"i am warning you-" diego ignored him,
"after everything he did to you" y/n sighed, crossing her arms to her chest, fighting wasn't going to fix any of them. klaus and five shared a look. "he had to ship you a million miles away"
"diego stop talking-" luther tried again. diego was definitely hitting a nerve. he jabbed a finger into luther's chest.
"that's how much he couldn't stand the sight of you!" luther grabbed his arm and swung at his head. diego ducked. they begun fighting while everyone else backed away.
"boys! stop this at once!" pogo attempted to stop them, moving back despite this.
klaus held an arm out to shield five and y/n. the former slapped it away. they continued to fight, diego egging him on and landing several punches. klaus began to chant while vanya yelled at them to stop.
"klaus" y/n warned, gaining both his and five's attention. her eyes were turning black, she was struggling.
"y/n? are you okay?" five hadn't been there, he didn't know what she would do if she lost control. pogo walked away, not wanting to stay. klaus nervously watched y/n while the others watched luther and diego fight.
"i don't have time for this" five sighed, beginning to walk away, leaving y/n with klaus under his small pink umbrella.
that was when it happened. y/n froze as they knocked ben's statue.
"aw" klaus complained while allison glared at them.
"and there goes ben's statue"
"klaus?" y/n's voice scared them all. she sounded weak. she gripped his jacket, tightly. "klaus"
"what's wrong?" he looked down at her, watching as she fought her emotions. her eyes were turning black but she kept fighting it.
diego pulled out his knife and vanya's shouting at him to stop made it harder for y/n to calm herself. he threw it at luther, cutting his arm.
"klaus" she called again and he held her arm unsure of what to do. "i-i can't.. i can't-" she let out a pained whine as her eyes darkened, she was letting go. suddenly diego and luther let out shouts of pain.
"what's going on?!" allison watched them, confused and distraught. vanya quickly left their mother's side, pulling y/n into her.
"its okay, you're okay" vanya whispered to her, trying to calm her. "it can be fixed, you're okay, just relax. try to relax" listening to vanya's heartbeat she slowly calmed down, the blackness of her eyes seeping away and diego and luther straightened, no longer in pain.
y/n stared at them in shock and guilt before shaking her head and running inside. she locked herself in her room again. she was truly a demon.
--------------------------------------------------
one by one the siblings left, y/n watched sadly as they all abandoned her again. she was always left alone, the family problems only got bigger when they got together. she sighed, maybe she was better off alone.
--------------------------------------------------
y/n looked up from her book as she heard frantic footsteps around the mansion. peeking out her door she noticed vanya slowing down in front of five's room.
"oh thank god" she disappeared through his doorway but y/n could still hear her voice. "i was worried sick about you"
five had talked to vanya? why hadn't he come to her?
"sorry i left without saying goodbye" five's voice answered softly. what had he been doing? y/n quietly left her room to hear better. she wanted to be apart of her brother's plans too. she didn't want to be left out anymore.
"no, i'm the one that should be sorry. i was dismissive and i guess i didn't know how to process what you were saying.." vanya paused, "i still can't to be honest"
"maybe you were right to be dismissive" five huffed, that didn't sound like him at all? what was he really doing? "maybe it wasn't real after all.. it felt real. but well, like you said the old man did say time travel could contaminate the mind"
well vanya referred him to a therapist y/n tried to sense the room. something else was going on. carefully using her power she felt another person.. klaus. when vanya walked out y/n quickly turned to smoke, gliding along the floor, past five who watched vanya leave. klaus pulled himself out of the closet.
"that's so touching, all that stuff about family and dad and time"
"will you shut up? she'll hear you" five warned him, walking back over.
"you're lying to vanya?" y/n appeared next to klaus, crossing her arms and raising an eyebrow.
"it's nothing you should worry about" five dismissed before looking klaus over again. "i thought i told you to put on something professional"
"what? this my nicest outfit" klaus gestured to it. y/n snorted when five scoffed.
"we'll raid the old man's closet"
"whatever, as long as i get paid" klaus shrugged, beginning to walk behind five.
"when the job is done" they stopped just above the stairs.
"so, where are we going?" she followed along, smiling innocently at five who raised an eyebrow at her.
"not we, just klaus and i" five shook his head, shoving his hands in his pockets.
"five" she frowned,
"y/n" he mocked.
"just let me come, please don't leave me in the dark. i just want to help you" she pleaded, she had missed him.
he thought it over before sighing, "fine" he turned to walk again but klaus stopped him.
"but just so we're clear on the finer details" he waved his hand around, talking over the plan. "i just got to go into this place and pretend to be your dear old dad, correct?"
"yeah, something like that" five agreed, exasperated.
"what's our cover story?" klaus continued, ignoring five's look of annoyance.
"what? what are you talking about?" five shared a confused look with y/n who shrugged.
"i mean was i young when i had you, like 16.. like young and terribly misguided" five agreed just to get him to stop but he didn't. "your mother, that slut, whoever she was, we met at.. the disco and you can be his sister"
"i am his sister?" y/n raised an eyebrow, but klaus only smiled, clicking his fingers.
"okay, remember that. oh my god the sex was amazing"
y/n scoffed, walking away first, five following. "what a disturbing glimpse into that thing you call a brain"
"don't make me put you in time out" klaus waved a finger at him.
as they walked out the door onto the street y/n paused.
"what's wrong, baby sis?" klaus asked, wrapping his arm around her shoulders. "you're not backing out already?"
"no!" she quickly denied, looking up at him as she snapped out of her starstruck daze. "it's just.. i haven't left the house in 16 years.."
klaus and five shared a sorrowful look. what had happened to her?
Our Love in a Rogue Nation
Story Description:
Ethan Hunt, the best agent IMF has to offer. Ashley Dunn, sister of Benji Dunn is the best field agent consultant IMF has to offer. Ethan Hunt and Ashley Dunn have been together for a while and are very much in love. How will the events of Rogue Nation impact their relationship?
Yes, I chose the character name Ashley... I feel like that name doesn’t get used enough in fanfiction. If you don’t like it you can imagine another name.
Part 2 Part 3
Ashley’s P.O.V
Working for IMF is a lot of fucking work. I am not a field agent, so I don’t put my life on the line everyday but being in the control room puts a lot of stress on the body… it also doesn’t help that my boyfriend is The Best field Agent that IMF has, always putting his life on the line to do what needs to be done. Is it heroic? Yes. Some of the stuff he does, comes close to giving me heart attacks every fucking time.
I’m staring at the monitors watching the current mission that Ethan’s team is on, and it looks like we might have a serious problem. I am listening as William tries to stay calm while he speaks with my brother Benji.
“Benji, Where is Ethan?” William asked my brother, that’s a very good question I haven’t heard from him all day.
“Brandt, I’m kind of in the middle of something”
“Benji, you know the package is still on the plane, right?”
“Yes, I am well aware of that Brandt. We are working on Plan B…actually Plan C”
“Benji, where is Ethan?”
“I don’t know, we are on radio silent at the moment” I looked down at my phone, looked back at William to make sure he was busy, and decided to text Ethan… technically I’m not supposed to have my phone in the control room.
Ethan, babe. Don’t mean to nag… but we could really use your assistance right now. I quickly shoved my phone back into my pocket
“Benji, the plane cannot leave with the package on board”
“We’re working on it” I heard Luther’s voice through the speaker
“Luther? What the hell are you doing there? You’re supposed to be on assignment in Malaysia” William said
“I am in Malaysia… Benji needed my help”
“I don’t need help, I need assistance its totally different” Benji responded
“It’s the same thing Benji” I finally spoke, everyone in the control room looked at me, including William
“Is that Ashley? Tell my nosy sister to do her own job and don’t worry about me” I rolled my eyes, then my phone pinged
I’m close
That was all the message said. I looked up to tell William but decided against it. Clearly there was a reason he was still radio silent.
“Guys, the package is still on the plane” William said
“Yes, we know! We are trying to cripple it remotely”
“You can do that?”
“Yes, if the pilot has left the satellite uplink switched on” Luther said
“Which he has”
“Great! How do you do that?”
“It involves hacking a Russian satellite”
“Guys, I cant authorize that”
“That’s why we didn’t ask” Luther responded again. I looked at the monitor in front of me and sighed
“William? There is a heat signatures showing up here” he walked over and looked at what I was seeing
“Shit, the engines are starting”
“Yes, I can see that, but I can’t do anything till Luther has me connected to the satellite”
“Ok, Benji you are connected”
“Great” I listened to them as they argued on different ways to stop the plane from taking off. All of them not coming up with anything that would work.
“Fuck!” William said angrily “Benji…”
“YES WE KNOW THE PACKAGE IS ON THE BLOODY PLANE!” he yelled completely stressed and annoyed.
“Benji, can you open the door?” I sighed in relief when I heard Ethan’s voice
“Ethan?” William asked “Where are you?”
“I’m by the plane, Benji can you open the door?”
“Maybe?” he said hesitantly “Why?” he asked confused
“I’m going to try to get in” he said “Can you open the door?”
“I think so”
“Benji, you better be sure before Ethan risks his life again” I said suddenly, I didn’t mean to say that out loud. IMF has a zero tolerance for romance in the office… so needless to say we have to be very careful.
“Yes, I know… yes it seems possible for me to open the door”
“Ok, Benji open that door as soon as I tell you” I’m extremely nervous because I am 99.9% sure I know what Ethan is about to do… but I’m really hoping I am wrong because this is extremely stupid. “I’M ON THE PLANE” Ethan yelled
“How did you get in the plane?” Benji asked confused
“I’M NOT IN THE PLANE… I’M ON THE PLANE” he yelled because of the sound of the aircraft. “OPEN THE DOOR” Through Benji’s camara we could see what he was seeing, and I gasped when I saw that Ethan certainly wasn’t lying he is ON the plane, clinging on for dear life
“Ok, I’m working on it” Benji said
“BENJI, OPEN THE DOOR” Ethan yelled again, I am currently holding my breath, hands locked together, I have never been so scared in my life, and Ethan has managed to scare me a few times.
“Benji Open the door right now!” William said
“Benji open the door!” Luther piped in
“I’m trying! C’mon, C’mon” he said “Yes I got it!” we could see on the monitor he had opened the back door I groaned
“BENJI YOU OPENED THE WRONG DOOR, YOU FUCKING IDIOT” I said, I looked back at William, and sighed
“I’m sorry sir, it’s just you know how I get in tense situations” William may be my friend but in the office is till have to call him sir. He just nodded his head and went back to looking at the monitor
“Ok, I got it! I’m opening the side door! How’s that?” he asked, we didn’t hear anything. Assuming he opened the correct door, because we hadn’t heard anything else from Ethan again we were in radio silence.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
We sat in the control room, so silent you could hear a pin drop everyone anxiously waiting… hoping that The mission was a success. Except me I was hoping that the love of my life was ok… so I could be the one to kill him for being so stupid.
After continuously staring at the monitor hoping to get some secure message, or hoping the phone will ring… anything from Ethan I finally decided enough was enough, I needed to get out of there. I need to get some air, I stood up quickly and pushed past William and went outside, to sit by the river. I pulled out my phone and started looking at some photos of Ethan and I together. It makes me happy, I never knew I could love someone so much… and they would return the same feelings.
“Are you ok?” I jumped when I heard William’s voice
“Yeah, sorry just a little bit stressed” I said with a smile
“It’s ok to be worried, he is your boyfriend”
“Yeah I mean… wait what?” I asked
“Benji told me” I sighed
“Of course my big mouth brother would tell you”
“Don’t worry, I’m not going to report the relationship. I’ve known you guys have had feelings for each other for a long time”
“He makes me so happy” I said with a smile
“If it’s any comfort, I’m sure he is ok”
“I know he’s ok… he’s Ethan” I said laughing a little, we sat in silence for a moment when William’s phone rang.
“Brandt” he said when he answered it “Ok, sir thank you very much”
“Who was that?” I asked
“The mission was successful, Ethan is ok. He is on the phone waiting to be debriefed” he stood up “Would you like to be in the office when I talk to him?”
“I thought I wasn’t allowed to listen to that” he smiled
“I just won’t put the speaker on”
“Then what’s the point of me being in there if I can’t hear anything?” I asked confused
“Because maybe during the phone call… I just might have to use the bathroom. So I won’t know if you were to I don’t know talk to him while I’m gone” I smiled
“Lets go” I said excited
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
William didn’t tell Ethan I was in the room, I listened as William asked all the usually debriefing questions. Then after about 10 minutes he said
“Ethan can you excuse me for one moment?” he hit the hold button, and walked out of the room. Once the door was closed, I ran over to his chair and took the phone off of hold
“Brandt?” he asked
“It’s me baby” I said
“Ashley?” he asked, and I could hear a sigh of relief “Are you doing the rest of my debriefing?” he asked in a joking voice
“No, William is letting me talk to you for a few minutes… he knows about us by the way” I said
“How?” he asked confused
“I’ll give you one guess” he sighed
“Benji” he replied
“He promised he won’t say anything”
“I know William won’t” Ethan said
“I was so worried about you today” I said quickly
“Baby…”
“Ethan, I was so scared something would happen… I was so scared that, we would get a call and you were… and I…” I felt tears in my eyes
“Sweetheart? I’m ok. I promise”
“I know that NOW! I didn’t know that an hour ago when I was sitting at my desk hoping I would see you again”
“I love you angel” he said quietly
“I love you too”
“I promise I will ALWAYS come back to you” he said
“You can’t make that promise”
“I will ALWAYS come back to you” He replied a little more firmly
“When will you be back from London?” I asked
“Hard to say… after this I’m supposed to be going to get my next mission I don’t know when I’ll be back” I frowned
“I miss you so much” I said
“I miss you too baby” he responded so quickly
“Promise me you will be safe… and you will call me whenever you can”
“I promise” he said firmly I looked up when the door opened
“Looks like our times up” I said into the phone “I love you”
“I love you too baby, I’ll see you soon” I stood up and handed the phone to William
“Thanks” I said to him before walking out
જ⁀➴ The White Violin.
╰┈ BEWARE OF .. violence, swearing, bad writing.
:・゚✧:・.☽˚。・゚✧:・.:
Y/N swung her door open, meeting Luther walking out of Allison’s room.
“Yo, what the hell is going on?” Diego asked.
“Are those explosions comin f-”
“Vanya. We need to get to safety.” Pogo demanded. “outside the Academy.” Diego and Klaus back up.
“Don't forget Mom!” Luther yelled after the two. Y/N looked around the walls. They were crumbing with each rumble, the house was going to fall.
“Go! Now!” Pogo yelled, running in the same direction Klaus and Diego went into. Y/N was her own little fox now, knowing Luther would not help her when he has Allison. She made her way through the Academy, searching for Five, trying to remember if he had mentioned leaving before.
She had just managed to get to the living room when a large explosion went off, the house shaking with it. Y/N ducked, covering her head from the derbies flying from cracked walls. She ran. Running as fast as she could when she tripped on a piece of the ceiling that fell.
“Ugh! Shit!” She groaned out. The impact was enough the leave a scratch on her knee, what was worse was that she hit her bad shoulder on the floor, causing it to throb. She shook her head getting rid of the pain and she lifted herself off the floor. The house started to crumble even faster, almost as fast as her heart.
“No, no, no!” She chanted to herself, Y/N Hargreeves was not about to die from a falling house. As if luck was on her side for the first time, she reached the door mere seconds before the house finally took it’s last breath and fell. She covered her head again as the dust flew around her.
It was only when the silence around her seemed too loud that she removed her arms, coughing as she did so. Y/N looked to her left, seeing her siblings gathering around.
“Where’s Y/N?” A concerned Five glanced around at the siblings standing. They all seemed to not have noticed her absence, looking around as well.
“I-I’m here! I’m here!” She called getting up from her crouched position and made her way through the parts of the former house to her family. Five sighed happily when he sees her, jumping to get closer faster and pull her into a hug. He wrapped an arm around her waist and one cradled her head. They stood for a moment before letting go, but staying close.
“I thought Harold Jenkins was the cause, but he was the fuse. Vanya is the bomb. Vanya causes the apocalypse.”
“We have to find her.” Luther muttered. The sound of a helicopter and police cars filled their ears as a bright light shined down on them. “We gotta go, now. Regroup at the Super Star. Go!” Five grabbed Y/N’s hand, jumping with her to the bowling ally.
:・゚✧:・.☽˚。・゚✧:・.:
The ally seemed so loud in Y/N ears as she sat next to Five in the small chairs. Their wasn’t many people, although their did happen to be some sort of party going on a few lanes down. Y/N tapped her bowling shoe clad foot on the floor beneath her.
“Look, I hate to be the one to say this, but everyone needs to prepare.” Luther started.
“For what?”
“To do whatever it takes to stop Vanya.” Allison hits him with her notepad. “I-We may not have a choice, Allison.”
“Bullshit. There's always options.”
“Yeah, like what?” Five shoots back, sitting back in his seat.
Diego shakes his head. “I don't know.”
“Look, whatever we decide, we need to find Vanya. And fast, okay? She could be anywhere.”
“Or here.” Klaus says, looking at a newspaper. “Look at this. That's right. Her concert is tonight.”
“Hello.” A lady’s voice came from behind the group. “I hate to intrude, but my manager says if you're not gonna bowl, you gotta leave.”
‘”Whose turn is it?” Diego plays along.
“Oh, for-” Luther picks up a ball, throwing it in a lane and knocking all the pins down. “We're the only ones capable of stopping this. We have a responsibility to Dad.”
“To Dad? No, I've heard enough about-”
“He sacrificed everything to bring us back together.”
“I'm with Luther on this one.” It was Y/N’s turn to hit Five with the back of her hand. “We can't give her a chance to fight back. There are billions of lives at stake. We're past trying to save just one.”
“Hey, you know, guys, uh maybe I could help.” Klaus suggested.
“Now is not the time.”
“No, let him finish.” Diego stood up for him. “He saved my life today.”
“Is that true?”
Klaus nodded and stood up. “Yeah, yeah, I did take credit for it. In fact, the real hero was Ben. Today Listen. Today, he punched me in the face. And earlier at the house, he was the one who saved Diego's life, not me.”
Luther shook his head. “You are unbelievable, Klaus.”
“You locked our sister away, pretty sure things are believable now.” Y/N muttered. Five beside her smirked and shook his head.
“You want proof, is that it? All right. I-I'll give you proof.” Klaus picked up a pink bowling ball. “All right, it's showtime, baby. Catch!” He threw the ball, Five grabbed Y/N to pull onto his lap as the ball waltzed past her head. it landed right in behind her chair.
“Is there any way to silence that voice in your head that screams out to be the center of attention?” Luther growled.
“You know, I liked you a lot better before you got laid.” Everyone’s eyes widened in shock or confusion. Y/N bit back a laugh, her cheeks red from being on Five’s lap. “Which was a complete It-It wasn't his fault, 'cause he was ridiculously high, right? And And the girl, she thought he was a furry-”
“Stop!” Luther watched Allison as she grabbed her notepad and walked away. “Allison, wait.” He followed after her.
“Excuse me!” A high pitched woman’s voice came along. “Excuse me, it's my son Kenny's birthday today, and Uh wouldn't your kids be happier playing with kids their own age? Assuming it's okay with your two dads.” She smiled.
“I would rather chew off my own foot.” Five gritted out. Y/N patted his back and sent a sarcastic smile to the woman, who grabbed her son in fear. Five looked over to the bowling rack, moving Y/N off his lap softly and walking over to it.
“If I was going to date a man, you'd be the last man I would date.” Diego said to Klaus.
“You'd be lucky to get me.”
“What siblings do you know sit on each others laps?” Y/N questioned, the two adults sending her confused looks. Y/N shrugged as she walked over to Five who was about to jump. “And where are you going?”
Five turned around, giving her a small smile. “I’ll be right back, okay? Don’t get into too much trouble” The words sounded familiar to her, and then it clicked. She had said something along those lines when Five was shot, which means he was probably awake, or she was just digging into to much. She had her answer when Five smirked at the blush dusting her cheeks.
She nodded. “Okay, don’t do anything stupid, Five.” He was about to jump again when she grabbed his arm, giving a small peck to his cheek, and turning to walk back to Diego and Klaus. Now it was Five’s turn to blush.
Y/N arrived back at the same time that Luther and Allison had. “All right, where's Five?”
“He left.”
Luther furrowed his eyebrows. “Oh, for the love of- where'd he go?”
“Didn't tell us.” Diego turned around to face Y/N. “Do you know where he went, lover girl?”
Her cheeks flushed at the nickname, her siblings giving her confused looks. “Um- he had some things to take care of. He’ll be back soon.”
“Well, we're not waiting around for him. The concert starts in 30 minutes.”
“All right, so what's the plan?”
Luther looked stunned for a moment. “Well, I think that, uh.. we go to the Icarus Theater.”
The siblings stared at him. “That's a location, not a plan. What? Is that all you got?” Diego took a step closer. “Look, you wanna be Number One, fine, but you're gonna have to get us on the same page, because right now, we're all over the place.”
“You're right. We need a plan.” Suddenly, gunshots were going off clear as day in the arena. Diego pulled Y/N’s arm so she was on the ground quick enough to not get shot. Y/N crawled on the floor to get behind a desk with Allison and Klaus. She sneaked a peak, the shooters had all black with red masks.
“Get down! Who the hell are these guys?”
“Maybe they're here for Kenny's birthday!” Klaus shouting over the blaring noise, covering his ears. The shooters shot directly where they were hiding behind.
“No, I'm pretty sure they're here for us!” Diego stood up, throwing one of his knifes to hit one of the shooters in the face. When they fell, they hit a switch that made the place go blacklight and music to start playing. Luther picked up a bowling ball , throwing it over the desk at one of the people. Y/N made two of them see a snake on the floor, slithering it’s way up to their partner with sharp teeth. The person got scared, and shot the other guy.
The siblings did what they did best and fought back. “They're blocking the exit!”
“So, what's the plan now, Luther?” Allison grabbed Y/N’s arm, pointing to the lanes ahead of them.
“The lanes! Let's go!” Without any more thought, they all got up and ran for the lanes. Y/N ran to the one that happened to be next to Diego’s and slid feet first through the pins. They were hard and hurt when they fell on her but the pain was only for a moment. When she landed on her feet, Diego rushed her out of the backdoor where the rest of the siblings slipped off too.
:・゚✧:・.☽˚。・゚✧:・.:
They ran. They all ran to the Icarus Theater that Vanya was playing at. Allison stopped and showed her notepad. I NEED TO GO ALONE.
“Wha-Allison, I can't let you do that, all right? She's beyond reasoning.” Luther denied.
“You hear the music? It's started.” Diego yelled from behind Allison.
“Do you honestly think she's gonna listen? After everything that's happened?”
“We don't have time for this.”
“Okay.” Allison nodded, walking away. Y/N scanned over her brothers quickly before chasing after Allison, no one stopped her. The two girls ran up the stairs, opening the door to the crowded theater. Hand-in-hand, they walked down the red isle to stand closer to the stage. Vanya looked to pretty. She was playing her little heart out and Y/N couldn’t help but smile, she always loved Vanya’s playing, even if she was never allowed to come out and see it.
Vanya noticed them in the crowd and smiled, her eyes wildly white. She looked so happy. Luther and Diego than ran out, which Vanya didn’t like and swiped her bow, causing a white wave over the entire place. It made the two brothers fly off the stage. People started to scream and stand, trying to get out. The background players behind Vanya had the same thought, but she swiped her bow on them and made them keep playing.
Y/N sat on her hand and knees behind a seat diagonal from Allison, she heard Diego talking from the seat in front of her. “She's stronger than expected.”
“Yeah.” Luther agreed. Allison threw her bag, making contact with Luther’s face. “Yeah. We're fine, thanks for asking. Look, I almost lost you once, all right? I wasn't about to lose you again.”
“Well, so much for the element of surprise. What else you got?” Allison tapped the seat beside her in a hurry, using her arms to imitate playing a violin. “No shit, Allison. Tell us something we don't already know.”
Y/N scoffed. “She's talking about the violin, dipshit. It must be her lightning rod. If we can manage to take it from her and get her from playing, we might have a shot.” Speaking of shots, the shooters from before had ran in, shooting around the place. Y/N ducked.
“What the hell happened to Klaus? He's supposed to be on lookout.”
“Yeah, you surprised?” A blue light appeared in the isle, Five walked down it.
“What's with all the lollygagging?”
“Five, get down!” Y/N grabbed his wrist and pulled him into the spot she was hidden away in. Five smiled at her briefly as Luther started talking.
“Five, what the I thought you bailed on us!”
“I had an errand to run.” He peaked around the seats. “This is not good.”
“You know these guys?”
“Yeah, I do.”
“And?”
Five sighed. “Well we're screwed.” Diego threw his knifes, killing two of the shooters.
“Guys, it's Cha-Cha!” Klaus’s voice came. He jumped over the railing on a small set of stairs. “It's Cha-Cha, she-”
“Klaus! Get down! Get down!” Five jumped, landing on one of their backs and snapping their neck. Y/N looked over, Klaus had a blue glow coming from his hands and he was shaking. A blue shadow of a person came from his body, using it’s tentacles to wipe out the rest of the shooters. It was Ben.
“Oh, my fucking God.” Y/N muttered standing up slowly when the last shooter was killed. Klaus took a deep breath, chuckling.
“Now who's the lookout?” Y/N shared a smile with Klaus, but it soon feel as the building started to crumble, much like the house did.
“Oh, welcome back. Where were you?” Luther asked. Number Eight turned her head to see Diego walking towards them, a hard cover on his face.
“Honoring a memory. So, how do you wanna end this thing?”
The Hargreeve’s gathered in a circle. “We surround her. All right? We come at her from all angles.”
“So it's a suicide mission.”
“Yeah,” Luther nods. “but one of us could get through. It's the only chance we've got. Are we all in?” Everyone nods. Luther looks at Diego and Y/N. “Stage left. Stage right. You guys take the front.” And with that, they all take their leave. Y/N ran up stage left with Diego, giving him a brief hug as they reached the stage. Diego wrapped his arms around her neck, holding her close in the last minutes they may have. Y/N sniffed, she didn’t get the time to say goodbye to Five if they all died.
Vanya was glowing, white light shining from her that Y/N had to shield her eyes from. When Luther gave them the go, they all ran to Vanya, but she was quicker. Vanya swiped her bow, her power making the five siblings hover about the ground. Y/N felt an intense pain in her chest, like her lungs were closing on her. It was getting hard to breath. Y/N looked to her side, Diego looked like he was in so much pain. She grabbed his hand the best she could, which only managed her to grab his pinky with hers. Number Eight grunted, the pain becoming too much that she just wanted to go to sleep.
Her eyes widened when she saw Allison holding a gun behind Vanya’s head. She knew she would never shoot her. Allison hesitated before pulling the trigger, the bullet going past Vanya’s head, the sound causing her to drop her siblings. Vanya’s form cowered, a blue rod shooting from her chest and through the skylight. From there, she fell back into Allison’s arms. Y/N got up quickly, head throbbing as she did so and ran to the stage. Y/N stood as she and her siblings crowded around Vanya’s limp body.
“Is she alive?” Allison nodded her head. “Yeah. She is? Yeah?” Y/N let out a sigh.
“We did it. We saved the world.” Y/N smiled at Klaus’ words. She went to speak when a sudden weight almost knocked her off her feet. Raven hair filled her vision and the smell of coffee and blood filled her nose. Five had a tight grip on her waist as she slowly put her arms around his neck, holding him just as tight.
“Thank God you’re alright.” He sighed, pulling away enough to see her face. Y/N nodded, leaning her forehead on his. Five moved to place his lips on hers like he had wanted too the day before, but his family had other plans.
“Uh Guys?” The two kids smiled at each other shortly before completely letting go of each others bodies, but keeping close. Klaus stood up, looking up at the broken skylight. “You see that big Moon rock coming towards us?”
“That's not good.” Diego and Luther joined him.
“So this is it, huh? So much for saving the world.”
“If only Sir Reginald could see us right now, huh? The Umbrella Academy. A total failure.” Diego watched as the rocks flew towards the Earth.
“At least we're together at the end. As a family.”
“This doesn't have to be the end.” Five pipped up from beside Y/N.
The three brothers turned around to face him. “What? What are you saying, Five?”
“I think I have a way outta here. But you gotta trust me on this.” The three denied. “Well, then, we might as well accept our fate, because in less than a minute, we're gonna be vaporized.”
“What's your idea, then?” Diego questioned.
“We use my ability to time travel. But this time, I'll take you with me.”
Y/N looked at Five with worry. “Can you even do that?”
He took her hand, giving it a squeeze. “I don't know. I've never tried it before.”
“What's the worst that can happen?”
“You're lookin' at it. A 58-year-old man inside a child's body, so there's that.”
Diego scoffed. “Oh, what the hell? I'm in.” The others agreed with him.
“Okay, great. Luther, grab Vanya.” Allison lifted Vanya off her lap and into Luther’s arms as they moved to stand in a circle.
“Wait, should we be taking her? I mean, if she's the cause of the apocalypse. Isn't that like taking the bomb with us?”
“The apocalypse will always happen and Vanya will always be the cause, unless we take her with us and fix her.” Five looked at his siblings before he took Allison’s hand in his free one. Y/N took Diego’s and held him close. The family watched Five as he controlled his power, making a blue light appear above them like lightening. Y/N’s hair flew around her face as the wind picked up from the blue portal. She looked around, seeing her siblings younger-selfs. “Hold on! It's gonna get messy!” Y/N gripped Diego and Five’s hand tighter as the blue light swallowed them.
"You're a Good Kisser": Klaus Hargreeves x Reader
Request: hey! could you maybe do a klaus x reader with 7 or 15 from the prompt list? lotsa love! <3 - @emobensgf
7: “Promise me you’ll be here when I wake up?”
15: “That was definitely a weird way to find out you’re a good kisser.”
Summary: Klaus calls for your help when someone is trying to kill his family, and in the process share your first kiss together.
Words: 1000+
Warnings: canon-typical violence, swearing
Author’s Notes: First time writing for The Umbrella Academy, hope it’s alright!
This certainly wasn’t the first time you had to save Klaus from a sticky situation, but usually theyre not quite this dire and deadly.
You’re used to the common things you’ve been doing since you’ve known him, like helping him sneak out or driving him home when he’s drunk, but now you get to add saving his life to the list.
He sounded frantic on the phone, telling you someone was after him and his family. You head over to where he is as soon as you possibly can, bringing anything you think might help.
“I’m so sorry- I didn’t know who else to call-“ he splutters as you run up to him.
“Hey, it’s okay,” you nod. It’s been a long time since you’ve seen him this terrified of anything. “Where is everyone?”
“We figured if we split up it would be harder for them to track us down,” he sighs. “I said that was dumb, though,”
“Yeah, that is pretty dumb,” you shake your head. “So who the hell is after you?”
“Don’t know. Some people just sent us a threatening note and then shot up our house. Five probably did some shit to make people mad or something,”
You laugh, “You ever consider that maybe the rest of you also have the capacity to cause problems?”
“Nah, I’m flawless,” he chuckles.
You gesture for him to get in your car and you drive away from the phone booth, scanning the streets for any sort of clues. It doesn’t seem like Klaus was directly followed, but you can’t promise the same for the rest of his siblings. Especially because apparently none of them bothered to tell Klaus where they were headed.
“They don’t trust me with any information,” he rolls his eyes. “You know, there’s this park we used to go to when we were kids to get away from dad for a while, maybe some of them went there,”
He tells you the address and you drive over, and sure enough you see Allison and Luther.
“There you are,” Klaus huffs. “Is it just you two, or-“
“Klaus, what are you thinking?” Luther cuts him off. “And why the hell are you bringing Y/N into this?”
“Well sorry I wanted to have someone to hang out with when you guys left me alone,”
“Guys!” Allison steps between them, speaking in a loud whisper and pointing across the park. “Look,”
You all shut up pretty quickly, and see a few shadows in the distance.
You grip Klaus’s hand, “Is that…?”
“Yeah, they’re the ones after us,” he nods.
A bullet goes through the air towards Luther, and he dodges it just fast enough. They start marching towards you, shots firing at both you and civilians with no remorse.
“I’ll try to rumor them to stop,” Allison says, running into the crossfire.
“Allison, no!”
“I heard a rumor-“
Luther pushes her out of the way before she can finish.
But that means the bullet that was originally about to hit her is about to hit Klaus.
Without a second thought, nothing but adrenaline running in your veins, you push him out of the way as well, both of you toppling onto the hard ground and your lips crashing together.
You don’t pull away at first, barely registering what happened.
“Well that was definitely a weird way to find out you’re a good kisser,” he chuckles against your mouth.
You push yourself up, dragging him next to you behind a nearby car, “Not the time, Klaus,”
“What? It’s never a bad time to make out,”
You groan, grabbing his shirt and kissing him again, “Will that hold you over until later?”
“Maybe,” he grins.
You peek above the car to see Luther fighting them, punching at least a couple guns out of their hands.
“I’m gonna try to help,” Klaus says, tapping your shoulder and standing up.
“No, wait-“
After you just saved him from getting shot.
“Y/N? What are you doing here?”
You see Vanya come up to you.
“Vanya!” you smile, happy to see her. “Klaus called me for some help with the situation, but clearly it’s not going very well,” you hear Klaus scream. “Do you know where the others are? We’ll probably stand a better chance with everyone together,”
“Five and Diego shouldn’t be far,” she responds. “I’ll try to hold them off until they get here,”
You watch as she races towards the others. You don’t think you’ve ever seen her powers in action, but you trust her.
Before long Five and Diego show up, and the whole family is able to deal with them. Diego finds out who they were working for, and Luther and Allison check to make sure all the bystanders are okay. It caused quite the commotion, but mostly everyone appears to be alive and well.
You find Klaus on the ground, semi-conscious with a few wounds, thankfully nowhere fatal, but still concerning.
“Talk to me, okay?” you hold his face as his eyes flutter open.
“I’m fine…”
“We’re going to get you home, okay?”
-
You sit in front of Klaus on his bed, first-aid kit in tow. He got a few cuts and bruises, so you do what you can to clean it up and ease the pain. He’s mostly silent, which is rare for him, but he was so close to being knocked out an hour ago you don’t blame him.
“You should be alright for the night,” you say. “But if the cuts don’t close up on their own we might have to get Grace to give you stitches,”
“I’ve been through much worse, I’ll be fine,” he shrugs. “Are we going to talk about that kiss, though?”
You laugh, “You want to?”
“I meant what I said, you’re a very good kisser. And I bet you’re even better when you’re not trying to avoid death,”
“Hmm,” you smile. “You weren’t so bad yourself,”
You start to pack up your things since it’s getting late, and his face falls.
“Could you stay?” he asks.
“I think that’s a little fast for me, Klaus,”
“No, no, c’mon, you know I don’t mean like that,” he chuckles, falling back onto the pillows and blankets. “Just…promise me you’ll be here when I wake up?”
“Okay,” you nod, lying down beside him and kissing his cheek. “I promise.”
Alphonzo x afab!reader part two to this @nerdyshitislit
SMUT MINORS DNI
The door slams open to the room "Get your paws off of our sibling" Diego yells out startling you awake, you whine before you burry your head into Alphonzo's chest "you should leave" Alphonzo tells them while wrapping his arms around you tighter making Luther scoff he goes to say something but Sloane and Jayme walk up
Luther starts flirting with Sloane and Jayme starts arguing with your siblings "Just let them be, they arent hurting anyone" she says voice filled with venom
You sigh loudly before placing a kiss on Alphonso's cheek "Ill see you later" you whisper before walking over to the window you open the window and stand on the window frame making Alphonso jump up worried as to what your doing "okay lets go" you tell your siblings annoyed before letting yourself drop from the window
Alphonso runs to the window only to see you making a staircase using plants making him sigh in relief "way to give a guy a heartattack Darl" he yells to you making you turn "sorry!" you yell back sheepishly before blowing him a kiss and turning back around
Alphonso keeps watching until you are out of his view, he closes the window before turning around seeing your siblings still there "leave, what are you waiting for?" he asks annoyed before slamming the door in their face
He throws himself on his bed annoyed, he looks up at the ceiling and sighs loudly before perking up and running to his closet before finding what he was looking for, yelling out for Fei
When you enter your hotel room you throw yourself on the bed before letting out a loud annoyed sigh, its then you hear a tap on the window, confused you walk up to it and open the curtain only to be met with a crow holding a phone
You open the window and the crow flies in dropping the phone on the bed before cawing and flying away, the phone softly beeps making you close the window again and walk over to the bed, you sit down and grab the phone opening it
"Hey darl, now we can talk without your family interupting" the text reads making you smile, you go to reply but the door is knocked on "y/n?" someone asks making you sigh, you put the phone under your pillow and lay down, blanket over you
The door opens "y-" the person cuts themselves off "they are sleeping" the voice whispers again before you hear footsteps leaving, the door closing softly
You grab the phone and sit up, blanket thrown to the edge of the bed "hey!:)" you send back before softly biting your lip "i miss having you in my arms" Alphonso texts back making you giggle softly
You start typing a reply but stop when he texts "wanna video call? i miss your cute little face" you look away before letting the phone drop on the bed and you cover your face letting out a soft squeel
Instead of replying back you press on the video button, he is quick to pick up "hey there darl" Alphonso coo's, you wave making him chuckle "aw you shy now baby?" he asks making you nod
"Its just me darling" he says "i know" you say softly making him chuckle again "your so fucking cute angel" he says making you drop the phone, your thighs squeeze together and you let out a soft gasp
"Did you like that baby?" he asks "come on be good for me and answer me" he demand when you dont reply, you pick up the phone "wait darling look on the desk in your room" he says making you turn your head to see a laptop "where did?" you go to ask but he cuts you off "well i wanna see you even when you cant be here or i can be with you so i found a laptop and phone that were unused, hang up, open the laptop and call me via there" he demands making you nod before hanging up
You let out a happy sigh, rushing to the door and locking it then going to the desk and grabbing the laptop and moving to the bed with it, you open it and open Whatsapp before pressing the call button as its ringing you start feeling cold so you get up
You walk around the room before finding the bag you brought back home earlier "this isnt my bag" you whisper before opening it and finding sweaters that belong to Alphonso "hey darling where are you?" you can hear him ask, you throw on the sweater and take off your bottoms leaving you in underwear and his sweater that reaches your thighs
You jump on the bed "sorry i was cold" you say making him look at you "holy fucking shit" he curses "is that mine?" he asks "me or the sweater?" you ask cheekily "i know you are mine but is that my sweater darling" he basically growls making you squeek before nodding your head "it looks good on you, from now on youll only be wearing my clothes"
You play with the hem of the sweater "Hey darling look at me" he says making you look up "how about you lift the sweater up a bit huh?" he asks biting his lip "only if you feel comfortable doing that" he quickly adds
You slowly start to lift the sweater giving him a view of your underwear making him groan "oh fuck"
"Okay darling if you feel uncomfy you tell me okay?" he asks making you nod "nuh huh tell me you understand" "i understand" you whisper making him smile "look at you being so good for me" he praises "how about you take those off"
You pull your underwear down your hips and off your legs and throw them to the side, legs closed making him let out a tsk "come on show me darling" he says making you spread your legs wide enough to show him your cunt "how about you rub that cute little clit for me huh" he tells you making you whine softly before your hand reaches between your legs, when your pointer and middle finger press onto your bud you let out a moan
"so good for me" Alphonso praises again making you buck your hips into your hand "please daddy" you let out making Alphonso freeze before you freeze, you take your hand away and sit up before hearing the call end
You sit on the bed in shock "oh god" you say before burrying your head into the pillow you dont hear when the window opens but you do notice when a hand wraps around you ankle and pulls you towards the edge, you are flipped around and Alphonso's lips are on yours, his hand slides up your thigh before it reaches your cunt "you are so fucking wet for me" he says
"If you want to stop say cherry okay darl?" he asks disconnecting your lips making you nod, he tsks again "use your fucking words, dont be a brat" he scolds making you whine softly "i understand, please touch me more" you beg bucking your hips into his hand that is laying on your cunt "let me think" he says "no, i think you need to reform that question"
"Please daddy please touch me" you beg making him smirk "so fucking good for me" he connects his lips to yours and starts moving his fingers against your clit he softly growls into the kiss before sliding a finger into you making you moan loudly
You pull away from the kiss "i need more please daddy" you beg softly making him coo mockingly "aw you need more? this not good enough for you darl? you want daddy's cock?" he asks making you whine "yes please"
He slides in another finger before quickening his pace "gotta open you up first angel" he tells you making you whine again, his hand slides into your hair and pulls onto it "dont be a brat and let daddy open you up for his fucking cock okay" he says before spitting in your open mouth "swallow" he demands
You swallow before letting out a loud moan "its feels so good daddy" you whisper making him coo "your doing so good for me darl" he praises you before kissing your cheek and letting go of your hair
He pulls his hand away from your cunt before you can cum making you whine he shushes you and unzips his pants pulling out his cock "you ready for daddy, angel?" he asks making you nod "yes yes"
He pulls your thighs to his chest and slides into you making you hiss in pain, he kisses your cheek "im so sorry darl" he says with a frown stilling his hips "i didnt mean to hurt you, you okay?" he asks making you nod "please move, daddy" you whine making his smile come back
He starts moving his hips making you moan out, tears spilling from your eyes "so big" you praise making him smirk "yea? is daddy too big for you angel?" he asks squeezing your thighs softly making you hum in agreement
"you want daddy to stop seeing as he is too big for you?" he taunts making you shake your head, you open your mouth to talk but he slams his hips into yours "dont talk unless its your safeword, i only wanna hear your sounds" he demands
One of his hands leaves your thigh and goes to rub your clit making you clench around him "you close sweetheart? you gonna cum for daddy?" he asks you making you nod "fucking beg" he spits out
You let out a loud whine "please daddy please let me cum, ill be good for you" you whisper to him "yeah your gonna be good for me?" he asks moving his hips faster "fucking cum for me" he starts rubbing your clit faster making your thighs shake before you let go with a loud moan
Alphonso growls before releasing inside you, he removes his hand from your cunt and flips you around "Im gonna keep you stuffed full of my cum, dont want to waste any right?" he whispers in your ear, his hands go to your face and he pulls you to him softly and places a peck on your lips
You let out a shakey sigh and nod your head "you tired darl?" he asks you looking you into your eyes "yes" you tell him making him let go of your face and he wraps his arms around your waist holding him close to him "go take a nap, darling, ill be here when you wake up"
You close your eyes, Alphonso reaches to the blanket and throws it over the two of you, its then you hear sounds from the door you go to sit up but Alphonso pulls you down again "just ignore it darling, its probably one of your siblings trying to check on you, they wont make me leave again i promise"
You burry your head into his neck when the door opens "y/n listen im sorry okay?" Diego says storming into the room before seeing a smirking Alphonso holding you "look your an adult and you can do what you want y/n i know that but if he hurts you i will fucking kill him okay?" he threatens making you hum sleepily
"I AM NOT OKAY WITH THIS" five yells from behind Diego "i vote we just kill him" five says
Alphonso smirks "im balls deep inside them right now" he says making eyecontact with Five making him gag "hey man, just because you have my blessing doesnt mean you get to tell lies, we all know y/n is a virgin" Diego scoffs walking away pulling five with him
"Darl? you where a virgin?" he asks you making you shake your head "i lost it when i was like 17, they dont have to know that" you tell him making him kiss your head "i bet i was so much better then them" he says voice laced with jealousy "so much better" you tell him
let's save the world
season two, episode eight
five hargreeves x reader
summary: five has one last plan to get back to twenty nineteen.
warnings: cursing, drinking, nothing extreme really
word count: 2.8k
a/n: i don't want to talk about how long it's been since i've last done absolutely anything on here lol. apparently i've had the draft of this almost completely done for a whole... year, maybe? just saved in my google docs. but better late then never? thank you if you're still here and still read this lol
“we were that close.” you whisper to yourself as you go up the stairs, “so close.”
the door to one of the rooms slams behind you as you quickly look through the cabinets, before finding a bottle of whiskey. the only thing you need right now.
you twist the cap off, tossing it to the side as you sit on the couch with a heavy sigh.
you can hear luther speaking as he presumably follows five up the steps, but you don’t focus too much on what he’s saying. something about making a new plan, which almost makes you laugh. no other plan would ever work, if this one didn’t.
the door opens once again as five enters, slamming it shut and locking it before luther can come in behind him. “five!” the big man shouts outside of the door, knocking on it, “come to what?” a sigh follows shortly after, and you hear his steps recede, apparently giving up.
You look to five, holding the bottle out, “want some?”
When he takes it, you expect him to take a drink, not find the cap and twist it back on, “what are you doing?” he questions.
“what are you doing?” you shoot the question back, reaching for the bottle, “if you didn’t want any, you didn’t have to take it.”
he looks at you incredulously, holding it out of your reach, “we still have an apocalypse to stop! you can’t just be sitting in here drinking!”
at that, you let out a loud laugh, yet nothing about this is funny. “you’re kidding, right?” you raise an eyebrow, sinking into the cushions, “i’m done with that.”
setting the booze on the coffee table, his eyebrows furrow at you, “what do you mean? you can’t be done with it. we don’t have much time!”
“don’t you get it, five?” you lean forward as you look up at him, “we can’t stop this. No matter how hard we try, we’ll never be able to. there’s always something that gets in the way when we get seconds away from actually doing it. let’s face it, the world is against us, and this apocalypse is happening.” you sound defeated, and you hate hearing it. you never wanted to give up, to let the world get the best of you. it tried to before, and you persevered. but none of that matters anymore, because soon enough, you'll be nuked and your existence won't have mattered.
he’s shaking his head in disbelief, “no. no, it isn’t. you’re supposed to be the one helping me, y/n! we can still do it.”
“and what’s your plan this time? do you even have one?” you can feel the tears brimming your eyes, and you hate feeling this weak in front of him, but there was no stopping it now.
“i do.” he states, “but i need you to help me.”
sitting on the couch next to you, turned in your direction, he gently grabbing your hand, “i can’t do it without you.”
-
you were currently in the kitchen, chugging down as much water as you could from a pitcher before passing it along to five. This plan was so, so stupid. he began to drink from it as well, and luther, who had been napping on the couch, entered.
“five, what…” he glances between you putting baby powder anywhere on your body you deemed necessary, and to him, taking in a breath as he flipped the top closed on the pitcher. “are you guys okay?” he questions in confusion.
“we need to be hydrated.” he breathes out, and you hand him the baby powder once you were finished.
if it was possible, luther’s confusion grew, “what’s with the baby powder?”
“it’ll help with the itching.” you state, giving no further explanation.
“what itching? there’s itching? what the hell is going on here?” as five puts some of the powder in his pants, realization dawns on his face, “you do have a plan.”
grabbing his blazer, five sighs, “well, it’s a desperation move, but… since our brain-dead siblings are incapable of meeting a simple deadline, well- we have no choice.”
“no choice about what?” luther questions as you both follow him into the living room.
“we have to find ourselves.” you state simply, flipping the watch you took from the formerly sleeping man- since he no longer needed it- open.
luther is so stunned, trying to process it, that he doesn’t speak. “we just arrived in dallas fifteen minutes ago.” you state, closing the watch and sticking it back in your pocket.
“should i be worried about you guys?” luther finally asks, his eyebrows furrowing at the two of you.
“luther, if you recall,” five speaks as he begins to stretch, “we were sent to nineteen sixty-three on a job by the commission to make sure the president was assassinated.”
“oh!” luther starts to understand, “so, wait, your old self is out there.”
“precisely.”
“what, just walking around dallas?”
“walking around dallas with a briefcase that can get us home.” you tell him with a smile. now, if this plan didn’t work, you were truly screwed. of course, the older looking versions of yourselves won’t give up the briefcase so easily, but you know for a fact you can do it. and with that briefcase, there wouldn’t be a time limit. you could get all of the siblings together and finally be rid of the apocalypse.
“oh, my god.” luther’s hands come together in front of him, “you are geniuses.”
“however, there are two significant problems with this plan.” five tells him, you nodding along, “problem number one: we are two trained assassins, arguably the most dangerous assassins in the space-time continuum. If we know ourselves, we’re not going to react kindly to bumping into us.”
you knew it sounded like you were giving yourselves a pat on the back, but he wouldn’t be saying it if it wasn’t true. and it definitely was.
“problem number two,” he paces, “this is the real fly in the ointment here: you’re not supposed to exist in close proximity to yourself in the same timeline. the side effects can be disastrous.”
luther seems as if he’s trying to process all of this, “side effects? what sort of side effects?”
“well, according to commission handbook chapter twenty-seven, subsection three-b, the seven stages in paradox psychosis are…”
“stage one: denial.” you begin counting off on your fingers,
“two: itching.” five looks to his brother,
“three: extreme thirst and urination,”
“four: excessive gas,”
“five: acute paranoia,”
“six: uncontrolled perspiration,”
“and seven:” you pause for a moment, dropping your hands, “homicidal rage.”
“homicidal rage?” luther questions, to which both of you confirm, “jeez, i don’t know. this maybe isn’t such a good idea.”
five begins to pace again, throwing his arms to the side, “it’s a hail mary. but what choice do we got, luther?”
leaning against the door frame, the large man shrugs, “i don’t know, you already seem a bit squirrely if i’m being honest.”
“listen luther, we’re gonna need you to help us get through this one, alright?” you stand in front of him, “we need… a spotter.”
“a spotter?”
“yeah,” you breathe out.
his eyebrows furrow, “what is that, like a wingman?”
“in case the paradox psychosis gets too severe,” five strides over, “we need you to help us stay on task, alright? so whatever happens, whatever we say, we need to get that briefcase. okay?”
“okay,” luther breathes.
“okay.” your shoulders relax.
both you and five turn and make your way to the steps, and you barely realize that luther is still at the doorway, staring in front of him. “luther, come on!”
“right.”
-
there’s an irish jig playing as you enter the bar, and chatter fills the air between the people inside, sitting at tables and at the stools along the bar countertop. you look around, skimming over all of the people, until you see them. or- you and five. it’s weird, seeing the older looking woman who sat next to the older looking five. you barely recognized them, since you had been looking at your thirteen year old selves for a few weeks now.
“there we are.” five has spotted them as well. sitting at the bar, the briefcase on the raised wood that acted as a footrest between the two older versions of you.
“why don’t we just grab the briefcase and run?” luther asks.
“luther, we would never let that happen.” you tell him, looking up at him for a second, “we’re trained to guard those briefcases with our lives.”
“right.”
“plus, it’s the inherent paradox where this gets tricky.” five adds in. “we’re endangering our existence just being in the same room with ourselves.”
“huh? what do you mean?”
you roll your eyes, “luther, keep up. if our old selves don’t travel back to twenty-nineteen like we’re supposed to, the whole thing unravels itself. we cease to exist. got it?”
“i… got it.” he doesn’t seem to, but you decide not to try to explain further and confuse him even more.
“so our best chance is to talk with them, to reason with them.” five rolls his shoulders back, “they’ll understand. trust me. i know us better than… better than i know us.” the sentence is confusing, but the point gets across.
as five reaches up to scratch his neck, luther is quick to point it out, “you just itched your neck- that’s stage two of paradox psychosis.” he whispers urgently.
“no i didn’t.” five states, “i didn’t itch my neck.”
“denial is stage one.” the large man points out.
“let’s stay on task, shall we?” you wave towards the two of you sitting at the bar, and as you’re about to step forward, luther reaches his hand out to stop you.
“wait!” you look at him in a mix of confusion and annoyance, “maybe i should go first.”
“why?” five asks him, also confused.
“well, you’ll freak them out.” he motions at the two of you, “bumping into your own tiny doppelganger? they’ll lose their shit.” he looks to the older versions of you, “just, let me break the ice.”
five glances around, sighing, “okay.”
“okay.” luther breathes out slowly, and you watch as he approaches the two older yous. you’re not sure if you can trust him one hundred percent.
as he begins to speak, the two of you very quickly get confused and on guard. meanwhile, you unconsciously grab hold of five’s hand to approach. “nope! don’t freak out. no freak-outs. alright.”
as the large man slowly steps to the side, you see yourself- your old self- tense up at the sight of younger looking you. “hey there, stranger.” your five speaks up, and the two older yous are almost shaking in their shoes from the shock and confusion.
you swear you see fear in your own eyes. it’s a look you remember seeing when you first landed back in twenty-nineteen and looked in the mirror at the you that had gotten stuck in the apocalypse. the you that was stuck alone for years until the commission brought you back to five. it was jarring to you as well, at first.
you remember staring into your own eyes. the little girl who had held five’s hand as he discovered the full extent of his powers, until it disappeared from her grasp and she was left in a smoldering, crumbling world.
-
the five of you had gotten a table, and you sat across from your older self, gaze unwavering. out of the corner of your eye, you could see the two fives glaring at each other.
“well, isn’t this nice?” luther breaks the silent tension, “the five of us, together like this.”
“no.” all four of you speak in unison, and luther is clearly uncomfortable, almost squirming in his seat.
the old five doesn’t look away from himself as he begins to speak, “somebody explain to me how it is i’m having a pint of guinness with my younger self.”
“older, actually.” the five sitting next to you states, “i’m you, just fourteen days older.”
“i have pubic hair smarter than you.” the other says coldly, his fingers laced together on the table in front of him, “how’s that possible?”
“i can explain,” the younger seeming boy responds, “you see, one hour from now, on the grassy knoll, before the president is killed, you break your contract with the commission.” he leans forward slightly, “i already know you’re thinking about it. all those years in the apocalypse, we never stopped worrying about our family. well today, you’re going to do something about it.” he sits up straighter.
“today, you are going to attempt to time travel back to twenty-nineteen. however, you are going to screw up the jump, and end up in this twip of a body.” he points to himself with his two thumbs. “trapped forever, small, pubescent.”
“Okay.” the older one finally breaks his stare, shaking in his seat, “even if i was to believe you, what am i supposed to do, not jump?”
“no, no.” you break away from the eyes of yourself, “we need you to jump. if you don’t jump, we cease to exist.” you motion between yourself and your five, “what we need is for you to jump correctly.”
“i’m listening.”
“the first time through, i got the calculation wrong. that’s how we ended up in these bodies.” five begins to explain, “but now, i know the correct calculation.”
the other is almost on the edge of his seat in anticipation, “what is it?”
“he’ll tell you.” you tell him, causing his gaze to turn to you instead, “in exchange for the briefcase you’re holding under the table.”
“yeah, yeah.” luther speaks up from where he’s sitting, “so now, you go back to twenty-nineteen, as planned, but this time with the right math, so you remain a full grown man. in exchange for that briefcase that you no longer need.” he points to the space between the older yous where it rests, a smile on his face.
“timeline restored, paradox resolved.” five speaks, “everyone goes on, existing happily ever after.”
the older you finally breaks her silence, “that’s quite a bit to take in.”
everyone’s heads turn towards her, “what do you think?” five asks, glancing between the two of them.
“i think,” older five says, “i need to piss.” he promptly states, standing from his seat and grabbing the briefcase, heading in the direction of the bathrooms. older you quickly looks between all of you, before also standing up and heading in that direction as well. you have a feeling that they’ll be discussing the situation at hand.
once they disappear down the hall where the bathrooms are, luther breaks the short silence that fell between the three of you. “well, besides the flop sweat, i think that went pretty well, right?” you had barely noticed, but there was, in fact, beads of sweat on your face, and you grabbed one of the napkins to wipe it away while luther patted one to five’s face.
“no, there’s something…” five fidgets in his seat, “something doesn’t feel right about this.”
luther is confused, which you’ve noticed happens a lot. “what… what do you mean?”
agreeing with five’s sentiment, you shake your head, “i don’t trust them.”
“but… they’re you.” he states in confusion.
“exactly.” the two of you speak in unison.
“well… i’m going to go to the bathroom too… maybe talk to them?” it’s more of a question as he stands up before quickly scurrying away.
“they’re planning something.” you state, leaning back in your seat as you scratch the back of your neck.
nodding, five takes a drink from his glass, “we have to be ready for whatever it is. we’re dangerous.”
“very.” you tap your fingers against the table, “they might even try to kill us.”
he glances at you, “maybe.” his eyes dart towards the bathroom before falling back on you. “but we’re still fourteen days older. we have the advantage of knowing who they are and what they can do, and that we can do it better.”
“right.” you look away from him as you see the bathroom door open, all three of the others walking out. older you adjusts the cuffs of her suit, and they all seem to be standing quite uncomfortably- you were right. they made a plan.
“we good?” five asks as they all stop in front of the table.
“we’re good.” your doppelganger states. “you’ve got a deal.”
“we’ve gotta hurry.” the older five says, “kennedy’s en route. less than an hour until showtime.”
five stands up and you follow suit, scratching the back of your neck. “why are you so anxious to get going all of a sudden?” you question.
“relax…” older you tells you, “you’re getting paranoid.”
“oh, are we?” five raises an eyebrow. it almost seems like him and the older him are about to tackle each other.
“okay, let’s roll!” luther quickly begins walking away. the older yous follow and after glancing at each other, you and five do as well.
— — — — —
The superhero life was a mess. Behind all the glamor of HQ’s and the romanticization of the media, there were only people trying to cope with their own lives when everything that was expected of them was nothing short of extraordinary. All the Hargreeves brothers knew this. And they carried the weight of the whole world on their backs. It was like trying to breathe with a rock pressed against your chest, purging all hope of relief.
They would never have a normal life, with normal parents or friends. They would always be chained to that sentence that came with their powers. Sometimes, late at night, some of the Hargreeves wondered how much smoother life would have been had they not been born extraordinary.
Five stopped imagining fantasies that would never come true from an early age. He viewed situations with objectivity, coolness and calculus. But life at the Hargreeves mansion was not easy and the only way for him to deal with the traumas and pressures was to push them under the rug. Then Five started to scoff when the brothers talked about having a normal life.
Who did they want to think about it? They would always be circus attractions. They would never have a normal life. So it was better to get over it, because you can't miss what you never had, and it was stupid want to live a false normal life. They would never be normal, it was the curse of the Hargreeves, and Five accepted that.
But you revoked all of his sentences. You were absolutely normal. Typical life, family, friends and routine. And when you came into the life of the Hargreeves and brought the breath of relief that everyone needed, Five felt that rock be lifted from his chest whenever you were close.
And then he knew normalcy. Five tasted the sweet taste that was enjoying a ray of sunshine, a summer breeze, a sunset, all the normal details that you inserted into his life and that now ... now he had something to miss.
During the months, your presence, for Five, was a sigh of relief amid all the claustrophobic, and he felt a certain envy when he saw how Klaus had a way with dealing with people. How he and Alisson always knew what to say, how to act, and how to captivate you to the point where you want to spend more time with them.
It was hell for Five. because you presence calmed all his nerves, your energy soothed the restless air and removed the rock that prevented him from breathing. Five realized how much he liked fresh air. And he didn't know how to make you want to be close to him too. He felt at peace when you were close. And it was an overwhelming discovery.
“Here it is.” You said, handing Five a mug of coffee, without him even asking.
That was one more thing that made you wonderful in his eyes. You two never had a long conversation, but you knew enough, and whenever you were in the kitchen, helping the Hargreeves for breakfast, you knew exactly what to give him.
Okay, to be fair, you knew exactly what to deliver to everyone. For Klaus, passion fruit juice and hangover aspirin, big and fat pancakes for Luther and Diego, Waffles for girls and strong black coffee for him. It wasn't like Five thought you were treating him in a special way.
But... whenever you gave him coffee and your midday sun smile, that was the best part of the day. And he wished, deep down in his soul, that it was special.
He nodded his head. And he drank the coffee knowing that the taste would be nothing short of excellent. Five concluded that you had a habit of turning everything you touched into gold.
“Are you going to see training today to wait for us?” Alisson asked you.
It was Friday, and Alisson, Klaus, Vayna and you had agreed to go shopping after them training. It was not new you and them to go out together, but it was new for you to watch their training. It was nothing formal, just routine, so it was easier to wait for them finishe than you to leave and return.
“If it's okay with you guys.”
The brothers agreed and Five thought it best not to show any reaction. He told himself it was because it didn't matter whether you saw a workout or not, but, deep in his soul, Five knew it was for fear that if you focused your attention on him, you would end up listening to him fast heartbeat.
But if he knew that everything would start in that training, he would have thought twice about going.
You were sitting on one of the mats in the garden, sometimes reading something on your phone while the brothers practiced the training. It should have been routine for them, as usual, but they all had difficult missions last night and felt exhausted to do their best.
Five came to know his own limits, he knew when his body was entering the last reserves and that it would no longer hold its powers. It was like a big battery that he needed to recharge to keep working. He felt the sting in his muscles, a warning that Five came to understand that signaled that his powers were going to fail.
Five was already orchestrating strategies to dodge Diego's knives when, already knowing that it wouldn't work, he tried to teleport. But the blue flash swallowed him up and when he took him behind his brother, and Five felt his muscles revitalized, the shock left him stunned.
It had never happened. But it hasn't happened again in weeks too.
Five spent days trying to understand how his powers took a turn and then retracted the same stake when he trained again. The bite always hit him in the muscles and then his powers left him in the hand. Five could no longer find the invigorating sensation that followed the hooks.
The second time his powers got stronger was when Luther was pissing him off. They had arrived from an exhausting and difficult mission, and that time you asked them to come to your apartment for dinner. Because you knew that the negativity of the mansion would not do well for a situation that had already brought out the best in the Hargreeves. Always the good person. You knew how to alleviate a situation with the smallest of gestures, and it made you look wonderful again in the eyes of Five.
After dinner, Luther was teasing Five, throwing cushions at him across the room, while everyone talked and rested in the living room. You made them feel like it was just a normal end of day. That they were just tired after work, traffic, and not because they were damn superheroes who fought a nuclear leak and terrorists. It seemed to Five that everything was easy and charming with you.
Then, when Luther threw another pillow at him, and Five felt the sting in his muscles, but tried to teleport to strike back anyway, the invigorating air ran through his muscles and the blue flash swallowed him.
Once again, Five was surprised. And suddenly, he forgot why he teleported.
His mind hummed like a propeller, trying to understand what the hell was going on. And that's when his eyes were drawn to you, like magnets.
The world was seemed to run out of breath, the atmosphere slowed and he followed every move you made until your eyes met his. It was instantaneous. A hot desert wind swept Five from head to toe, and brought the hot, overwhelming thought “It's her.” You were doing it. You were the one who left him invigorated. You removed the rock from his chest and he could breathe. His powers were reacting to you, and the realization it that stunned Five.
You smiled for him and went back to talking to Vayna, oblivious to the overwhelming discoveries that flooded Five.
The third time your presence showed that his theory was right was when you two were alone. It was Tuesday night. You were making cocktails with Klaus and laughing when he gave his verdict:
"I am happy that you are beautiful and intelligent enough to know that you must think about several other professions, because you would definitely make a terrible bartender." Klaus put aside a drink you made after making a face.
You laughed, throwing an olive at him.
“Why beauty would help me?”
“Prostitution, perhaps.”
“KLAUS!” You looked at him with amused indignation and you two laughed out loud.
“I'm going to get something good. Don't get out of here.” He stood up, taking his coat.
“Be careful!”
“I always do, baby.” He shouted at the door, leaving.
You laughed at nothing, cleaning up the mess you had made on the counter, throwing the used lemons in the trash.
That was when Five appeared. The mission mask on his face, the uniform slightly scorched.
“Hey.” You smiled as soon as you saw him, your heart beating faster. “All right?” You pointed to his clothes.
“Fire” Five say, sitting on the stools at the counter you were on and opening the bottle of vodka.
You gave him a glass, and Five thanked him silently while filling a shot and turning it all over at once. You couldn't get your attention off him. His hair was black as the background of the galaxy, his lips were red with drink, the mask adorned his eyes. God, he was beautiful and you felt that you could no longer reason consistently.
This always happened when Five was involved. He is a god of Olympus who had the power to destabilize you with just one look. Now, however, the mask delivered that he could swing you just in the presence.
In fact... that mask just made everything more mysterious and attractive. You felt something humming inside you, like a harp string that connects your heart to your belly.
“What?” Five's voice brought you out of the trance, revealing that you were looking at him for too long.
“N-nothing” You tried not to blush.
You turning around to put away the other bottles that Klaus and you had removed. But the floor was damp from the melted ice cubes you both dropped. And you was so stunned that you slipped.
As soon as the world spun and the wind hit your face, you were prepared to fall to the ground when a blue flash protected you and firm arms held you.
The breath drained, the callus increased, and Five was absolutely sure that it was you who made him stronger. You were the one who reinvigorated his powers because when he came out of that fire, the sting in his muscles hit him hard, and he knew he hadn't been able to use his powers anymore.
But when you looked up at him, and Five felt your warm skin on his hands, he knew he couldn't stay away from you anymore. He thought about doing something, his body was screaming for you, but he didn't have a chance. Your fingers touched the corner of his mask, gently contouring the left edge.
“You're Gorgeous...” Your whispered was a breath, but Five could hear.
Then he leaned over and pressed his lips to yours, because he felt he couldn't live any longer if he didn't. And when you kissed him back, his whole battery was recharged and that rock that was choking him was destroyed in millions of pieces.
As soon as you were apart enough to breathe, your fingers removed his mask and curled your fingers in his black hair. And this time, it was you who brought your lips together in the most passionate kiss.
I honestly would love to read about the first time Cam finds out Luther is shrinking because he has feelings for him. In that hanahaki disease au.
ask and ye shall receive.... cam figures it out. just shy of 2000 words.
~~~
“Aaaand… there,” Cam said, and gave the screwdriver one final twist. He pulled on the little contraption in front of him a few times to test its stability and sat back on his haunches, finally satisfied. “You’re all set.”
It is one of four little rope and pulley elevator systems that he’d set up around Luther’s apartment. It consisted of a small wooden plank that Luther could stand on and use the rope system to raise or lower himself. Each one was operable at height ranges between about a foot and a half to four inches. They let him get up onto his sofa, his bed, the kitchen counter, and the bathroom sink.
“You really didn’t have to do all that,” Luther protested from his position just behind Cam. “I mean, I don’t get that small that often, I probably won’t use them that much.”
Cam laughed and pushed a stray wisp of hair out of his face, looking up at Luther. “What are you talking about? You’re always shrinking around me. It’s okay, I’m happy to help. That’s what friends are for.” He watched the usual blush spread across Luther’s face, the telltale shiver run down his spine, and smiled as Luther shrank another inch. He’d lost some height here and there during the installation process as they chatted, and had gone down to about five foot even, if Cam had to guess. “Anyway, you let me know if you have any trouble with these, and I’ll be over to fix ‘em as soon as I can. And there’s the bells if you’re in any real trouble - those strings there, see? They’re hooked up to a bell in my apartment, ring that and I’ll come right over.”
“My cat’ll have a field day with them,” Luther murmured, brow furrowing. “Maybe we should do something other than string.”
Cam chewed on the end of his screwdriver in contemplation. “Hm. Good point. I’ll figure something out later.” He slipped the screwdriver in his toolbelt and slapped his hands on thighs as he stood up. “Well! I’d better get back to my place and start dinner. You’re coming over, right?”
“Oh! As long as it’s not an imposition? I mean, I don’t want to be any trouble…”
“Nah, s’alright, you’re always welcome. Spaghetti and meatballs tonight. See you in an hour?”
Luther’s blush deepened and he lost another two inches. “S-see you then,” he managed.
Cam chuckled fondly to himself as he left. He tried not to think of Luther’s condition as cute or funny, because when the shrinking was really bad it put the poor guy in danger. But he couldn’t help but find it amusing when Luther lost just a little height, ending up just a slightly shorter version of himself. And when he went on one of his long rambles and shrank a little bit at a time all throughout, it put Cam in mind of a deflating balloon, which was just too silly not to laugh at. And when he ended up really tiny, and he was just like a little doll, and fit so perfectly in the palm of Cam’s hand…
Cam shook his head to clear his thoughts. No, that was too far. He shouldn’t think like that, no doubt it was terrifying for Luther to be so small and vulnerable. He sighed as he shouldered his door open, hands full of leftover wood and string. He set them on the little table where he kept his keys by the door, then unbuckled his toolbelt and hung it on the coat rack, lost in thought.
He’d been puzzling over what caused Luther to shrink for a while now. Was it just at random? Was it like an allergic reaction, and some kind of food or environmental thing kicked it off? He had a brief vision of Luther sneezing and instantly shrinking down to bug size. No, knock it off, he chastised himself, not funny. A little funny. But don’t laugh at it.
Anyway, he hadn’t seen Luther ever sneeze when he shrank, so that probably wasn’t it. What were the symptoms? He’d make a list, that would help him narrow it down.
Cam slipped an apron over his head - one of the novelty ones his sister kept getting him, he didn’t bother to read the witty joke about buns printed on the front - and started on the dough for his spaghetti. Whenever possible, he liked to make things from scratch. Besides, having something to do with his hands let his mind work better. He worked the problem around in his mind just like he worked the dough in front of him, kneading it, pushing it around, looking at it from different angles.
So. What were the warning signs? Luther tended to get awkward and shy just before he shrank. He’d blush, stammer or trip over his words, either avoid eye contact or stare like he couldn’t look away, and of course the final sign was that signature shiver right before a loss of height. A lot of those symptoms could be attributed to anxiety as well - was that what triggered the shrinking, just whenever he was anxious? But that couldn’t be it, Luther had been anxious plenty of times without shrinking. Not to mention he worked a high-stress job, waiting tables at a local diner, and wouldn’t be able to make it through the day if anxiety made him shrink. So that wasn’t it.
Cam rolled the dough out flat and cut it into strips. He hung the fresh noodles up to dry and put water on to boil, then opened the fridge and pulled out the meatballs he’d shaped that morning.
His brain kept chugging along on the issue as he worked, hands going on automatic. He came back to the present long enough to taste the sauce he’d made, hem and haw, and add a little more garlic, then went right back to it. There was something tugging at the back of his mind, trying to get his attention, but he couldn’t quite grasp it.
A sound startled him out of his thoughts - the ringing of a bell.
“Shoot,” Cam hissed, dropping the sauce spoon. It clattered onto the stove and left little pools of sauce cooling on the glass surface. He’d deal with that later though, Luther needed him now. He switched the burners to low and headed for the door.
Luther’s door was locked, so he had to duck back inside his apartment to grab the spare key. He opened the door slowly and called out.
“Luther? Was that just the cat, or do you need me?” Cam scanned the room, looking for that distinctive neon green jumpsuit. It clashed horribly with everything, but it was useful for spotting him when he ended up tiny. Sure enough, there he was by the strings for the bell, waving an arm to get Cam’s attention. He was easy to spot, as far as things went, standing about a foot tall. Cam hurried over.
“What’s wrong? Are you hurt? Do you need help?” Cam took a knee in front of Luther and leaned in close, inspecting him for injuries. Luther took a step back, startled by the sudden rush of worry, and Cam made himself pull back as well. It had to be scary to have someone looming over you like that, he told himself, give him a little space.
“I-I’m fine,” Luther said. “I just… well, this happened, and now I can’t really open my door, so I was hoping you could give me a lift over for dinner? Sorry, I shouldn’t’ve used the bell. I could’ve texted you.”
The tension flooded out of Cam and he laughed in relief. “No, that’s fine, I just jumped to conclusions. I can give you a lift, sure.” He cupped his hands and held them out to Luther, who climbed on and settled in, sitting down with his legs crossed. Cam rose slowly, being careful not to jostle Luther, and began to amble back towards the door. A thought occurred to him.
“What did it?” Cam asked.
Luther looked up, startled. “What did what?”
‘“What made you shrink this time? I’ve been trying to work it out on my own and I’m just not getting it. There’s gotta be a common thread, right, you’re not just shrinking at random?”
Luther stared at him in open-mouthed shock, face growing steadily redder.
“I mean,” Cam continued, “if you were just shrinking at random, it’d be hard to hold down a job, y’know? Do you ever shrink at work? And anyway, didn’t you say - ” His eyes widened as that thing that had been nagging at him finally became clear. “You said you don’t shrink all the time! But you shrink pretty often whenever I’m around. Am I doing it, somehow?”
“No, no, no,” Luther said hurriedly, but Cam could feel him getting smaller.
“Oh, liar!” Cam chortled. “Nice try, Pinnochio, but I’m literally holding you right now. Is it actually me?”
“It’s - it’s not - not always?” Luther was practically cowering away from him now, and Cam realized he’d been a little harsh.
“Oh shoot, I’m sorry. Look, we don’t have to talk about it, okay? It’s your business, I shouldn’t’ve pried.”
“No, I… I’ve been meaning to tell you for a while, it’s just… hard to say out loud, um…” Luther fidgeted with the collar of his jumpsuit, avoiding Cam’s eyes. He was red as a tomato, mouth drawn up in an adorable little pout, and so small and cute that Cam’s heart ached. Then it clicked.
“Oh. Is it me, like… because you like me?” Cam asked. “Like, you have a crush on me, is that it?”
Luther let out a sound like a tea kettle whistling, shrinking down at an alarming rate to only five inches tall. Cam couldn’t help himself. He laughed so hard he snorted. When he finally got a hold on himself again, the wounded look on Luther’s face sobered him instantly.
“Oh, I’m so sorry, but you don’t know how long I’ve been trying to work this out, and the answer’s been right in front of my face the whole time! I swear I’m laughing at myself, not at you. Anyway, you wanna go out sometime?”
Luther gaped up at him for a long moment. His mouth opened and closed a few times, but nothing came out. Finally he shut his mouth and nodded furiously. Cam grinned.
“Or this could be like our first date, right? I’ll get some candles and dim the lights. We could even 'Lady and the Tramp' it with the spaghetti! Or - okay, okay, sorry, I’ll stop.” Luther had started to shrink again, and Cam didn’t want his cooking to go to waste just because his guest was too small to eat it. “Hey, I joke a lot, but I want you to know I’m being serious here,” he said gently. “I’d like to go out with you, if you’re alright with it. Is it going to cause problems, though? Like are you going to shrink every time we’re together?”
Luther shifted and looked away, finally finding his voice. “I - I don’t know. The doctor said if I told you about how I felt, it would get easier. But he didn’t say it would go away entirely… if that’s not something you want to put up with, we don’t have to - ”
“No, no, that’s fine, I don’t mind it. Just if it was a problem for you, is all. I like you a lot, Luther. I’d love to be your partner, if you’ll have me.”
Luther looked back up at Cam with a huge, genuine, relieved smile on his teeny tiny face. Cam’s heart melted.
“I’d like that.”

Demolition Lovers (Hargreeves x sibling!reader)
Summary: Klaus and Y/N helps their brother, Luther find a perfect date.
Title Reference: Demolition Lovers x My Chemical Romance
Word Count: 1.6k words
Warning: swearing, mention of sex
✤ · ✤ · ✤ · ✤ · ✤
It was a typical day at the Hargeeves mansion. Klaus and I hanging out as we lay across the couch next to each other, scrolling through our social media and sharing celebrity gossips that was trending that day.
Diego would then barge in, bothering us to get up and be productive but then end up eaves dropping and joining our conversation.
Then we'd have Vanya that'll feed us our daily snacks. She was like a mama bird; Hearing the rest of us complaining and bickering then feeds us the goodies to shut our mouth. It honestly worked every time and now I start to wonder if that was her trick all along.
After our snack was nap time, where Klaus and I would lay there for two to five hours, usually get up when the sun was down. Then we would plan our night, typically out for dinner or a night out if it was the weekend.
But our schedule, our precious paradise time was ruined by the one and only. Luther Hargreeves.
It wasn't supposed to be this way; Allison would go out to run errands, Ben worked all day like the responsible man that he was, and Five would just be Five, roaming town and doing God knows what. Luther would be home to research and dig through dad's old stuff.
Today however, wasn't the case.
He instead came in during mine and Klaus' precious nap time, groaning and yappin' about some girl on an app. Didn't know why he had to do this in the family room but there he was.
'Do you not see us sleeping here?' I complained as I lifted my head from the pillow, trying not to move a lot so that Klaus could stay asleep.
'Sorry, sorry. I didn't mean to be loud.' He apologized as he stared at his phone, depressed and upset.
Klaus rolled his eyes. 'Well you are and you're still here.'
Luther froze in place, continuing to stare at the screen. Klaus and I looked at each other, nudging one another to see who was going to talk to him first.
The both of us got up, sitting down side to side as we looked at Luther and back at each other. Klaus seemed like he was unbothered, so I sighed and broke the silence. 'What's wrong buddy?'
'Nothing.' Luther frowned.
Squinting my eyes, I grabbed the pillow from the couch and threw it on Luther's head. 'You bitch! You woke us up from our nap and you're going to say "nothing" is bothering you?'
'Ow!' Luther rubbed his head. 'Okay, okay. Damn. It's this girl on tinder, she doesn't want to go on a date with me.'
'Well, what did you tell her? Did you say something stupid?'
Luther got up, 'See. This is why I didn't want to tell you guys becau-'
'Sorry, sorry.' I stood up and pulled Luther back onto the couch. 'Mind if I see the conversation?'
His face immediately turned red, 'Uhm. Do you have to?'
'If you want me to figure out why she's turning you down, yeah.'
Hesitantly, he pulled up the messages he had with the girl and then passed me the phone. Scrolling through the messages, I shook my head. 'Luther, she's DTF.'
'Yeah, I know that's why I don't understand why she turned me down. She brought it up first.'
Klaus blinked, 'What do you think DTF stands for?'
By the look on Luther's face, I knew he was confused. He looked over at the ceiling, thinking for a while before he replied to Klaus. 'Don't tell me I was wrong this whole time.'
'So what do you think it says?'
'Uhm... Date This Friday?'
Klaus awed, shaking his head as he left my side and took a seat next to him. He wrapped his arms around Luther, 'Buddy. No. That's not what it stands for. But that's cute of you.'
'Wait, huh? So this whole time me and her were on the wrong page? What did she mean then?'
'She wanted to fuck you.' I blurted, I felt bad that Luther was so confused. 'It stands for Down To Fuck.'
It was a dead giveaway that he had no clue what his whole conversation really meant, his whole face turned redder than ever. He buried his face into his hands. 'Oh no.'
'I didn't think you were talking to girls, honestly.' Klaus chuckled. 'You clearly got game, your noggin is just a little... outdated.'
'I got what? Game? No, I just deleted Candy Crush, it was too addicting.'
Klaus kept his laugh in, curling his lips as he slowly nodded back at his brother. 'Oh my gosh.'
✤ · ✤ · ✤ · ✤ · ✤
It had been about two weeks, helping Luther get a dream girl that he deserved. Despite Luther being the annoying sibling, he had been there for me countless times and I wanted nothing but the best for him.
We've tried talking to the girls on the app, few weren't looking for anything serious, some trolling in the messages. After constant matching and messaging, Luther found someone he potentially saw a relationship with.
'Did you check your message from Claire yet?' Klaus asked.
'No. I'm kind of nervous, actually.' Luther laughed a little under his breath, shaking his legs as he gripped onto his phone.
Resting my hand on his shoulder, I reassured him. 'Don't be nervous, I'm sure she said yes to your date.'
Luther sighed, turning on his phone and scrolling through his messages. As his face lit up, he jumped off his seat. 'She said yes!'
Klaus got up and cheered, hugging Luther tightly. 'I knew it! So what time and where?'
'Ah- Uhm. Why... do you need to know?' Luther paused.
'Cause we're coming to watch.'
'No, no, no. I don't need you two spying on me. I'm already nervous as it is.'
'Yeah, Klaus let's just let him be. He's a big boy now.'
'But-'
'Let's give him the space he needs, Luther definitely needs his alone time with his girl.'
Klaus rolled his eyes, 'Okay. Have fun and tell me everything when you get home.'
A smile hasn't fade away since he saw the text; He was grinning widely than ever, never seen him this happy in my entire life. 'This is going to be so awesome!'
'Good luck buddy.' I smiled as I watch him do his little happy dance going up the stairs to get ready.
Klaus groaned, crossing his arms and pouting like a little child. 'Why can't we go spy on Luther?'
'But we are. I just wanted him to think we weren't.' I wanted nothing but the best for Luther, if it meant that he was going to have a perfect night with his perfect date, I was going to be protective of my brother.
'Perfect! I need to get my spy gear on.'

With the binocular in my hands, I looked into the restaurant Luther picked for the both of them. 'Oh my gosh, he looks so cute with his little bow tie.'
Luther was blushing, talking nervously with Claire. It seemed like it was going well, no awkward moment or embarrassing moment between them.
I looked over at Klaus, who was being too quiet next to me in the passenger's seat. He had a rather thick file in his hand. 'What are you reading?'
'Claire's life.' Klaus chuckled. 'She's smart as hell, really pretty. I'd say we did a pretty good job helping Luther.'
'How did you get a file on her life?'
Klaus smiled innocently, 'Ah. I followed Diego into his ex's job and got Ben to steal it for me.'
'You what?' I leaned my head back, staring at the car ceiling as I sighed. 'Klaus, Eudora is my friend. If she finds out that you stole someone's files from the police department, she'd hate me.'
'My bad, Y/N. If it makes you feel better, Ben rejected me a bunch of times. I made a deal with him that he could take over my body for three hours for the files.'
'Whatever.' Looking through the binoculars again, I asked him another question. 'So you didn't ask Diego to get it for you?'
Klaus shook his head. 'Nah, if I ever told him I knew he'd want to come with us to stalk Luther. I wanted some Klaus Y/N alone time.'
'Aw.' I said but immediately stopped. 'Are you saying this to make me forgive you?'
'Is it working?'
'Depends how the night goes.' After a sarcastic smile, I snatched the file off of his hand. 'Why did you want to steal this anyway?'
'You ask so many questions.'
'I know.'
It was rare for Klaus to do "the responsible thing", that was more of a me, Allison or Five's criteria. I couldn't think of a possible reason why he'd go out of his way to take a file to investigate on this girl.
'It's Luther, you know. I wanted to make sure he was going out with someone that won't screw him over again.'
'That's the nicest thing you've ever said.'
'Luther better appreciate this because I'm not going to jail for this shit.'
I smiled at my brother. 'Don't worry. I gotchu.'
A loud scream came from the entrance of the restaurant, Luther approaching us quickly as he eyed the both of us.
'Duck!' I yelled at Klaus as we tried to hide ourselves from his sight.
'Don't bother. I saw you guys from the restaurant!' Luther said as he knocked on the window. 'Why are you guys here? You told me you wouldn't come.'
'I know, I know.' I rolled the window down and squealed as I reached for his bow tie. 'I just couldn't resist! You look so adorable, brother.'
He grunted, 'Stop. Guys go home, you're going to ruin this date with the woman that I love.'
'Woah! Love!?' Klaus and I said in sync.
Luther covered his mouth. He mumbled into his hand. 'Pretend I didn't say that!'
'Pretend?' I laughed, 'Luther. I can't pretend, I'm sorry. That was sort of funny. A little little little bit cute but mostly funny as hell.'
Klaus reached over me to grab onto his hand. 'Dude, you're already whipped but that's okay. But Y/N's right. It's a bit funny not going to lie.'
'I'm whipped?' Luther cocked his head. 'I don't do that sort of foreplay during se-'
'Luther, that's not what it means!'

TUA- How You Meet
Authors Note: I am starting preferences please feel free to leave a request about what preferences you would like to see :).
(💙)
Luther Hargreeves: You were wandering around a science and space museum with a friend. You had just gotten done with the more chemistry and experiment section and decided to go sit down in the cafe with the stars overhead. It was basically just a green screen but gorgeous none the less. Around the cafe there were exhibits of the moon and planets. No one was really around due to the time being quite early. But, there did happen to be one man in front of the moon. He looked massive compared to the stand next to him that explained what that specific diagram was about, but even to the size of the moon diagram itself. From the time you got breakfast to the time you ate it he just stood there. Your friend finished their food earlier than you and had to use the restroom so you waited there. The man still hadn’t moved, you went and stood next to him not wanting to sit alone at the table.
“So, do you like the moon or all of space?” You kept eye contact with the moon diagram, not wanting to make the stranger uncomfortable.
He didn’t acknowledge you at first but then he sniffled and moved his hand under his eye across his cheek, “I guess just the moon.”
“Are you okay?” You turned toward him after hearing his voice crack and noticed how lightly swollen his face was. You felt bad that he was alone, because your food had at least taken 20 minutes and eating it was another 10 at best. So he had been there quite sometime, and he looked really upset.
“Uh yeah. I guess I am.” He smiled at you curving his lips towards mouth. He looked extremely tired and sad. But of course you didn’t know him and did not expect him to tell you his life story or even how his day was going right then. So instead you came up with the only thing you could think to do.
“Well, I know this is crazy, but you’re here alone so I assume you’ll eventually get bored of hanging out next to the moon alone. So,” You pulled out a receipt and a pen from your little bag and used your thigh as a table, “Here’s my number, call anytime.” You passed the piece of paper to him and he took it. Your friend was sitting at the table, so you waved him goodbye and went back to them.
Diego Hargreeves: You were grocery shopping really late at night. You had neglected to do that all day, but got bored enough at about 9:00 PM, an hour before the store closed to go shop. When you pulled up to the parking lot there were only four cars, most likely a cashier, a stocker, and one other shopper. You settled for getting a basket and only getting what you really needed. Usually you would be wide awake at night, but lately stress has been making you tired at random times. Not to mention staying up until unreasonable hours in the morning and then only sleeping 2-3 hours. You were leaning against one of the fridge doors next to the water and milk. You only needed some bottles of water, maybe pop, and milk to cook with. However you were falling asleep right against it. Until you heard a voice,
“Excuse me.” He opened the door you were leaning against thinking you would move. He assumed you were just leaning, not sleeping.
You felt your body move and instead of catching yourself or even being close to be able to you fell on your butt. Everything in your basket tumbled around on the floor, thought not much it looked like quite a mess. Instead of getting up to pick them up you just laid your head down on the cold tile floor.
“Oh my god, are you okay?” The man came over and looked over you, then got down on a knee and put two fingers on your neck to check your pulse.
“I’m alive, just extremely exhausted.” You looked at him with lazy eyes with heavy eyelids.
“Here.” He took your hand and you squeezed his, he helped pull you to your feet and picked up your things for you. He put them back in your basket and handed it back to you.
“I’m Diego.” Your hand was in yours again and you held it, even though it was to shake. So he shook and you followed in suit.
“I’m Y/N.” You let go of his hand and walked next to him.
“I hope you don’t mind, but I am gonna make sure you make it to your car at least.” He walked with you as you made your way to the self checkout.
“Thanks superman, I could really use it.” You giggled at him as you finished up. Then you took the pen from the container next to the checkout and wrote down your address and number down on the empty part of your receipt. Then ripped it off the bottom. Diego walked you to your car and unloaded all your groceries into the trunk of your car. Before he could leave you grabbed his hand and said,
“If you ever wanna check on me or anything else here’s how to find me or get ahold of me.”
He took the paper from your hand and smiled nodding at you. He took a step back from the car and you drove home.
Klaus Hargreeves: A groan came from behind the trash cans next to your apartment. You decided to take out the trash since the bag was ready to overflow. Though it may not have been a very smart or safe choice, you peeked around the corner. There you saw a grown man laying on the concrete, he looked pretty beat up. You took a few steps closer and noticed more bruises and blood on his skin. When you got close enough that he could see you he flinched and curled up into a ball with a groan.
“Hey, no, I’m not gonna hurt you. What happened?” You squatted down next to him and tried to coax him from his laying position that looked incredibly uncomfortable. He looked at your eyes and rolled over onto his back.
“Being sober fucking sucks.” He groaned and you reached out to give him a hand. He took it and sat up.
“I don’t think it sucks,” you chuckled, “I think whatever happened here is what sucks.”
“Hm. I guess you’re right,” he sighed and continued, “I was just walking home, no car, can’t drive. And I guess these big guys didn’t like what I was wearing because they were staring me down,” he put his hands around his eyes as if they were goggles and made his eyes big, “I wasn’t paying attention to where I was walking and barely grazed this guys arm. He lost it and then his buddies decided to join in.”
“Well, I can take you home or to the hospital. I have a car and I don’t think those guys will come back to break into my moving vehicle.” You stood up with his hand still in yours. He put his other hand on the ground and stood up letting you help him.
“You’d really take me home?” He let go of your hand as you walked to the parking garage.
“Yes? Of course I would. Do you want me to?” He followed behind you carefully and in pain.
You ran over and unlocked your car, then opened the passenger side door and helped him in. You buckled his seatbelt and shut the door. Then got in the drivers side and started on your way out.
“Where do you live?” You asked.
“Take like two lefts from here, go straight, and it’s the first building on the right.” He pointed and made directions with his hands.
You followed his instructions and he was dozing in and out of sleep next to you. You only lived about 15 minutes away from each other, when you arrived at his place of residency he was still asleep.
“Hi, Uh, shit I don’t know you’re name but we’re here.” You lightly shook him on his shoulder.
“My names Klaus, and thank you so much.” He took your hand and kissed it.
“I’m Y/N and you’re welcome. You know where I live and I know where you live so if you ever need me just ask for me at the front desk. I’ll be there.”
He smiled and got out of his car. As you left he turned around and waved at you as you headed home.
Ben Hargreeves: The same page hours later is where you were. You had been sitting in the back of a book store with a book you had bought trying to read it. This particular book store was quite large and had section where it was more like a library. Of course the book store was quite busy and loud with young kids picking out their first book, comic book kids freaking out over some major finds, and the people who used the computers to watch videos without headphones. With all the noise and people to look at and hear you were absolutely beyond distracted. You were about the only person in the section other than a young man with headphones on that was reading a book about a band. You were so focused on these two little kids trying to pick out books you didn’t notice someone next to you.
“Hey, we’re reading the same thing.” He spoke out, he sounded a bit nervous but kind as well.
When you broke focus and looked over at him he was still looking at you with a goofy grin on his face. You took a look at the book he was reading and the two of you were in fact reading the same thing.
“Looks like we are, I think I like your taste.” You commented back at him with a smile. He looked at you questionably,
“You think?”
“Oh well. I haven’t gotten but a few pages in, I thought this would be a great place to read considering how beautiful it is and that they sell books. But, it’s crazy everywhere here.”
“Well, if you ever want a quiet place to read, I know a good one,” he took a deep breath in, “and if you want we could read together.”
“I think i’d like that, we should hang out and read sometime, or do anything.” You spoke with a smile on your face.
“I’m Ben by the way, and if you can’t tell I don’t have many friends. Ben was a bit awkward and clearly nervous. He had his hand in between the pages he was on and held the book that way. You could tell his hands were shaking underneath.
“I’m Y/N and I couldn’t tell at all.” You giggled at him and put a hand out for him to shake. He lifted a shaky hand and took it gently to shake.
“Not at all?”
“Maybe just a little.” You let go of his hand that you both didn’t seem to realize you still hadn’t let go.
“Here let me write down my number and uh that place I was talking about.” He looked around for a piece of paper and a pen. The longer he was taking the more red in the face he became. You took a pen out of your bag and held out your fist.
“Here just write it on my hand. I’ll write it down when I get home.” He took your hand gently and wrote down everything he said he would.
“Well, I better get home and write this somewhere it can stay.” You rose from your seat and waved him goodbye with your book that was in the same hand he had wrote on.
Five Hargreeves: 6:00 AM, a beautiful summer sun rise, and a cup of water in a coffee shop was all you needed. You had just finished writing one of the biggest papers ever and had spent all night trying to keep yourself awake. You were simply waiting for your body to crash, so you walked to the coffee shop and got a sweet treat and some water. You were the only one there, since they weren’t even open when you showed up. The bell above the door rang and the old lady who was waitressing had just started making some fresh donuts and coffee.
“It’ll be done in just a moment.” She spoke kindly and continued to her baking.
A young man dressed in what looked like a school uniform sat down next to you. He looked over and you and you returned his gaze.
“Come here often?” He asked you, he turned to face forward instead of keeping eye contact. He had a light smirk on his face and he put his hands up on the table connected together by his fingers.
“No not really, do you?” You took a sip of your water and looked forward copying him.
“Yes actually, all the time, well I used to at least. Just now getting back to being around here.” He tapped his right hand on the table, disconnecting it from the other one.
The old woman came back over and put a mug of black coffee directly in front of him. He nodded his head and thanked her, picking up his cup he sipped at the coffee.
“You drink black coffee? Just like that?” You questioned, you had never really seen anyone your age not put anything in their coffee.
“Yes.” He gestured toward his cup showing you that there was clearly nothing else in it.
“Hm. Never had it.” You drank the last of your water and sat the glass down.
“Maybe you should come around here more, I’ll get you some to try.” He said looking at you again as you rose from your seat.
“Maybe I will.” You smiled at him.
“I know you will.” He smiled back and then turned back around.
He knows I will? What? You thought to yourself after stepping outside into the warm air. You thought he was quite weird, but that was the least of it. Just wait until the day you learned his name was Five.

masterlist
wednesday. 8:15am (again...)
y/n stepped down the stairs, the sound of a loud blast worrying her as she rushed to find her siblings. her head felt unusually cloudy, she had foggy memories playing through her head. had she had a weird dream? it was like something she hadn't quite experienced.. a fever dream? and yet it still felt so real.
as she leant through the doorway to see her siblings all gathered around in the parlour, staring at a body laying on the bar, she held a hand to her head. as she stepped closer in, moving to stand beside allison she realised it was five, laying on a briefcase.
"you guys, am i still high or do you see him too?" klaus slowly pushed himself off the couch he had flung himself on to.
luther immediately went to interrogate him, "five, where have you been?" they all moved closer to him, helping him roll off the bar. he looked injured, y/n noted.
"are you alright?" allison grabbed one of his arms, hauling him up to stand.
"who did this?" luther held onto his other arm, looking shocked at the state of him.
five scoffed, refusing anymore help and stealing allison's coffee from her hand. "irrelevant" he begun to walk away, downing majority of the cup in one long chug, limping slightly.
he turned back to look at them once he was finished, "so, the apocalypse is in three days" he took a deep breath, "the only chance we have to save our world is well.. us"
"the umbrella academy" luther realised like it hadn't been obvious in the first place.
"yeah, but with me obviously. so, if ya'll don't get your side show acts together and get over yourselves we're screwed. who cares if dad messed us up. are we going to let that define us? no" he sighed, reaching into his pocket and pulling out a folded piece of paper. "but to give us a fighting chance to see next week, i've come back with a lead. we know who's responsible for the apocalypse"
he handed the paper over to allison and everyone bar five leaned over to see. "this is who we have to stop" allison urgently unfolded the paper, four words written in the middle.
'reassignment: protect harold jenkins'
"harold jenkins?" allison read the paper over and over, confused.
diego looked up at five now, "who the hell is harold jenkins?"
they waited in suspense as five finished off the coffee before chucking the cup away behind him, frowning. "i don't know.. yet. but i do know that he's responsible for the apocalypse. so we have to find him and we have to do it now"
"but how is he connected to what's going to happen?" luther's eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
"i don't know"
"wait, so you just know his name? that's it?" diego remarked in disbelief.
"that's enough" five continued to try and push his point.
diego took a step forward, raising an eyebrow, "there's probably dozens of harold jenkins' in the city"
"well, we just better start looking then"
"i'm sorry, am i the only one who's skeptical here?" allison begun but y/n wasn't interested in her sibling's doubts.
y/n watched as five winced, hand twitching at his side as he went to reach for his abdomen. he was injured..
"i mean, how exactly do you know all of this about what's his name?"
"harold jenkins" five sneered, he was growing frustrated, "you know those lunatics in mass who attacked the house?"
"oh yeah i think i remember those guys" klaus reached a hand up to rub the back of his neck, moving to sit down again. he gently pulled y/n down with him, forcing her to take a seat beside him.
"yeah, the ones that attacked us while you were getting drunk" diego stared back at five, pointedly.
"yeah, them." five nodded, "they were sent by the temps commission to stop me from coming back and preventing the end of life on earth"
"the temps what?" allison frowned,
"my former employer. they monitor all of time and space to make sure that whatever is supposed to happen, happens" klaus glanced at y/n, leaning on his hand and looking like a bored child in school. she stifled a laugh, barely preventing a smile from blooming on her lips. this was supposed to be serious.
"and they believe the apocalypse is coming in three days, so i went to commission headquarters and intercepted a mission that was meant for said lunatics. protect harold jenkins. so he must be responsible for the apocalypse" it was silent for a moment as everyone soaked in the information.
y/n and klaus ignored diego, allison and luther's remarks, not believing what five had been telling them. y/n sat up, leaning to watch as klaus' eye's blurred.
"my skin is on fire" he murmured,
gently, she raised a hand to his arm, "you alright?" he just stared back at her.
"do you have any idea how insane this sounds?" allison's question brought back their attention.
"you know what else is insane?" five looked up from checking his stomach, "i look like a sixteen year old boy" he pointed a finger at his head before gesturing to klaus and y/n on the couch, "klaus talks to the dead, y/n's eyes turn black and luther thinks he's fooling everybody with that overcoat" they all glanced at luther, "everything about us is insane"
"he's got a point there" klaus nodded along,
"we didn't choose this life, we're just living it. for the next three days anyway" five shrugged,
"but the last time we tried to stop it, we all died. why is this time any different? why shouldn't i go home to my daughter?" allison argued,
"because this time i'm here" five's voice grew quieter, pleading his siblings to help. "we have the name of the man responsible, guys we have the chance of saving the lives of billions of people"
there was a pause as everyone mulled over the idea, considering it. "including claire" five pushed,
allison shifted, arms crossed before her eyebrows furrowed in confusion, "you know her name?" she asked softly,
"i do" five sighed, "and i'd like to live long enough to meet her"
allison nodded, agreeing. "alright. let's get this bastard"
"you had me at jarold jenkins" diego shrugged, already in.
"harold.. jenkins" five corrected,
"whatever" diego rolled his eyes, looking between them, "i've already lost two people this week, i'm not losing anyone else"
"luther?" five turned to the tallest sibling,
"yeah, you guys go, i'm gonna stay behind and go through dad's files" he stepped forwards and they all looked at him in disbelief, "i still think this has something to do with why he sent me to the moon"
y/n scoffed quietly, why was he still hung up on that when they had the name of the person responsible?
"seriously? now you want to make the end of the world about you and dad?" diego raised an eyebrow, incredulous.
" 'watch for threats', that's what he told me" luther asserted, "you think that's a coincidence? this all has to be connected"
"yeah, whatever, let's just go. do what you need to do, big boy" y/n stood, shakily. she patted a hand on luther's arm as she passed by.
"we should all stick together" allison tried but five and diego disagreed, following after y/n.
"klaus you're with me" diego called out to sleepy man y/n had left on the couch.
"yeah, i-i-i'm good, i think i'll- uh" he wobbled as he stood, "i think i'll pass and.. i'm feeling a little under the weather so um.." he stumbled past diego and y/n, leaving the parlour.
————————————————–
as they drove to where diego knew he could find harold jenkins' details, y/n let her head lull back against the car seat. allison frowned at her, sending her worried glances.
"are you okay?" she finally asked, gaining everyone's attention, "you don't look so good.."
"'m fine" she shook it off, waving a hand half-heartedly.
"you look sick" five raised an eyebrow at her, glancing back to her seat.
"i'm fine" she stated, much firmer. "just had a weird dream, that's all"
allison blanched, "a weird dream? what do you mean?"
"i don't know.. it just feels like a memory. i can see everyone so vividly, i know how everything feels and yet.. it's not real" y/n's eyes lost focus, remembering the visions she seemed to be having. she shook her head after a moment, sighing. "i'm fine, it's fine"
"if you say so.." allison frowned again but let it go, they had more important things going on. it was silent for a moment until diego spoke up.
"hey, y/n?"
"yeah?"
"do you remember when we were kids.. that time klaus and i found you in the library" he begun, "you said you were looking for five?"
"mm, yeah, what about it?" she nodded, ignoring five's surprise.
"you said you couldn't speak to him but.. surely something happened? you spent years looking" allison glanced between the three of them, confused.
"hold on! you told dad you couldn't find him, we heard you tell him it was useless" her eyebrows were furrowed,
five turned around, frowning. "you lied?"
"well, yeah" she nodded, "i told him i couldn't find you and he just.. gave up. i didn't really train again after that. i spent my time searching for you in the library, i found you several times but i could never say anything, i was like a.. a ghost"
"you were there..?"
"i couldn't communicate, i couldn't touch anything, i just went through you every time i tried anything. but then i touched that mannequin and well.. you talked to me and i still couldn't talk to you.. it was hard but i knew you were okay" she sighed, "you showed me your equations too and i used to study those, i looked everywhere for vanya's novel, you know? it wasn't until it was released that i realised how far ahead you were"
as they all thought over her words diego pulled over to the police station.
"i know this jenkins' dude has to have a record" he glanced out the window, looking around. "we just got to get our hands on this file"
"and your plan is to what? waltz in there and just ask for it?" allison leaned forward, raising an eyebrow.
"i know this station like the back of my hands" diego continued to look before turning to her, "i spent a lot of time on the inside of it"
"handcuffed" y/n reminded,
"whatever. here's the plan-" he begun,
"plan?" five stared at him in confusion, "i'm just going to blink in and get the file"
"no that's not- you don't know the ins and outs of this place, okay?" diego stopped him,
"i literally just did this yesterday"
"what?" allison and y/n shared a look of disbelief,
"my yesterday.. not your yesterday- look, it'll take me two seconds"
"listen to me. you are not going in" diego glanced back out the window. "i made a call. that's what a leader does, he leads"
y/n rolled her eyes, leaning closer to allison to see the street.
————————————————–
while diego was meeting whoever he had called, y/n, five and allison headed to use the pay phone.
y/n leaned back against the wall, trying to block out allison's words. she didn't need to hear her talk with vanya. she didn't want to hear her talk with vanya. she was afraid vanya was slipping too far away from them.
she kept her head down, trying to clear her mind. everything still felt fuzzy. was she really sick? did she have a fever dream? but.. it couldn't be, right? she was so clear, so vivid, so.. real.
and what about their kiss? she could still remember it, clear as day. why, why, why couldn't she distinguish between reality and a dream? maybe she really was imaging things.. but she didn't want to.
she didn't want to accept that she was just a dream.
she was real.
at least..
she felt real..
y/n felt a nudge on her shoulder. blinking, she realised her eyes were brimming with tears. she blinked them away before glancing up at five. she ignored his worried glance, instead looking up at diego who had just come back, file in hand.
"so?" she asked, raising an eyebrow at it.
"you're welcome" diego smirked at five, handing the form back to allison.
she snatched it from his hand, not a fan of their competitiveness. as she opened the file, she flicked through the pages for a moment before freezing.
"holy shit" she cursed, staring at the photo. five and y/n leaned in to see.
"what?" diego asked,
"harold jenkins is leonard peabody"
