random rant i wanna go on for no particular reason, just thinking about ango right now.

(sort of an ango analysis in a way?)

i remember when a lot of people of were commenting on angos character page, (?) specifically the part where it's stated in his dislikes that he hates betrayal. many people were commenting on this fact, saying how it's ironic and making just.. overall confusing jokes? which yes, i understand that he betrayed every origination he's been in. but don't you think that's even more so of a reason for him to dislike it?

as we all know, he was apart of the lupin trio, obviously very close to both oda and dazai. hesitant to let his cover be blown as he knows it would tarnish every bit of their relationship. this point is further proven after the fact he was exposed for "spying" for both the port mafia and mimic, when in actuality, it had been for the government all along, and dazai knew that. he had been found out after betraying oda, getting caught by mimic in that building they planned to blow up.

despite knowing the danger of showing back up to lupin after being found out he does so anyways, attempting to reconcile they're relationship. he says and i quote, "once this is all over, i want us to come back here and-" though he's unable to finish the sentence as dazai is unbelievably pissed.

ango even went as far to erase all of dazais crimes after he'd let the mafia, also backing him up and helping him keep in touch with the outside world when he was put in mersault.

we can't forget the scene where he visited odasaku grave, bringing flowers as he spoke about "making amends for a friend who is now long gone." it made me so sad when i watched the anime, finding out that this scene wasn't included. as it's such an important part of him, wether you believe it or not.

all in all, he's deeply caring. and so clearly attached to the two friends he had once drunk with on a regular occasion. it makes a lot of sense for betrayal to be something he greatly dislikes, and in my opinion, this is a detail i'm so very glad was added to his character.

(also to add one last bit on. memories being in his likes.. IM SOBBING.)

headcanon that at bar lupin with ango and oda, dazai would often try and pet natsume. every single time natsume would obviously move away so that his ability doesn't deactivate but oda and ango thought it was the funniest thing in the world how the cat seemed to have a distaste to dazai.

safe to say, whenever dazai either found out or realised natsume was that damned cat he was pissed with all the jokes made about him from ango and oda.

or, may i propose dazai is at the bar one time by himself + cat natsume hanging around and he is determined to catch him. he chases the cat all around the bar as it jumps off of the shelves. they make sure to play this game of chase as the bartender isn't looking and as natsume jumps down, he just grazes dazai's finger and falls to the floor in his human form.

dazai isn't always a genius, proof being when he was dumbfounded when a grown man picked himself off of the floor and calmly walked out of the bar. dazai stood there stunned.
