Can we take a moment to appreciate just how well fed we are? Both in canon and beyond?
Oscar said "woah" the moment he first met Ruby.
"Woah. You have... silver eyes". Specifically.
The scene of them sparring at sunset and being goofy about it.
They're the two youngest members of the team, and both of their main allusions are stories about growing up (The Little Prince and Little Red Riding Hood).
Oscar's main allusion is of a character that's in love with a rose. Ruby's last name is Rose, she has a rose emblem, and can turn into rose petals.
They also have shared/parallel allusions from in-universe fairytales (Ex. The Boy Who Fell From The Sky, The Girl Who Fell Through the World, and most notably, The Warrior in the Woods).
The Dojo Scene
Their shared attachments to each other keep being put in focus.
Oscar cared more about Ruby being knocked out than Weiss being impaled at Haven.
Ruby's always watching his back in fights, and he always has hers in group conflict discussions.
Neo, the illusionist character, uses Oscar as both the first and last illusion to torture Ruby; going so far as to make Ruby "kill" him with her own hands. It could have been anyone, but it WASN'T. It was OSCAR.
Meanwhile, Oscar in the V9 epilogue laments to Ruby's "grave" about how he is struggling to hold onto who he is more than ever before. In large part because of the merge, but also because Ruby "always saw people for who they really were", and she's not around anymore to help remind him of who he is.
"You're your own person."
The Almost Hug.
The song that plays leading up to The Almost Hug is one about someone pining for a love they've lost and been separated from across worlds. The song airs a few episodes before Oscar and Ruby are the only "pairing" split up between Remnant and The Ever After. The song itself is called Treasure and Ruby is a type of precious gem, while Oscar's name alludes to gold.
Oscar's last name is Pine. Which, aside from the species of tree, is defined as: "to long or yearn for the return of something; to suffer, typically from a broken heart"(please see points 12 and 15).
They have multiple paralleling arcs and themes around choice, identity, responsibility, leadership, grief, etc.
Their character designs have complimentary colour schemes like other canon ships (red/green and silver/gold).
Sun/Moon ship
"Combat gear looks good."
They also follow the same story beats, separations, and reunions that other canon ships have in show (the meet-cute, the getting-to-know-you, the breakup arc, the distance makes the heart grow fonder trope, the (upcoming) emotional reunion, etc).
The animators, writers, and even voice actors on occasion, engage with fan content or discussions of the ship in a positive manner.
The Official RWBY Twitter Oscars Meme
Miles Luna has said a few times that the ship is cute. He also highlights that their relationship is built on mutual understanding from being in similar circumstances as the youngest kids in the group with too much weight on their shoulders.
Miles also said that in a hypothetical scenario where everyone celebrates Oscar's birthday, Ruby would buy a co-op video game as a present and the two of them would stay up really late playing it together.
Rosegarden won 2nd place in a popular RWBY YouTuber's "Top 10 RWBY Ships" poll as voted by fans after Volume 8 (it would have been third place if Renora and Bumbleby hadn't tied for first).
That one video from Aaron Dismuke, Oscar's VA.
"That kid's got a collapsible staff" -heart eyes emoji-
We've gotten a "Rosegarden Moment" in every Volume premiere since Oscar's debut in V4.
Oscar shouting Ruby's name too many times in the V6 fight against Cordovin.
Maria tells Oscar to "keep that fire fed" after he overhears Ruby talking about food always making her feel better. Then a few episodes later, he suspiciously makes a casserole for the "team" after "they" had a rough day (where he stood up for Ruby when she was looking defeated in a group argument).
Oscar's the only person Ruby opened up to about her grief until the blacksmith. Meanwhile, Ruby's the one who's always assuring Oscar he's his own person despite the merge.
The parallels of Oscar's struggle with the merge and Ruby's ascension in The Ever After.
"I'm just going to be another one of his lives, aren't I?" / "What if you could be anyone?"
Characters within the narrative regularly notice how close these two are to each other. Mainly Nora, Weiss, Yang, Cinder and Neo.
Oscar blushed when Ruby touched his shoulder???
THE FUMBLE?!?!?!?
#am I missing anything#There's just. So Much. We are truly spoiled.#RWBY#Rosegarden#RWBY rosegarden#Ruby rose#Oscar pine#This is kind of a#reasons why rosegarden is canon#Master post#Obvs not all are serious or fully explained here but Imma keep the tag anyway

Star's Engage Catalogue Day 34 (part 5)
I feel that it's only right to showcase the final team that will be joining me.
And I have to split it into 2 posts because Tumblr has a 10-picture limit.
Don't really think I have to explain why Alear has been a strong fighter. You see those stats and you see why I had Marth stick with him, those two are a perfect fit.
But I wanna talk about how shocked I am by Alear's character. He's genuinely up there with Corrin and Shez as one of the best avatars this series has done. His story is engaging, he's a joy to watch in anything he does or says, his voice acting is immaculate, he's so God flippin adorable! I'll definitely talk more about him another time, but he managed to become one of my favorite characters in all of Fire Emblem, something I never expected to happen playing this game!
Again, don't think I need to explain why a dancer is good. And while Corrin worked with him for a while, Byleth is a better option, especially with the stats he gives.
And Seadall surprised me with his character. His alluring nature and way of speaking, his wisdom and experience from his past, the struggles he deals with from his lifestyle, and the way he can inspire others even when he doesn't believe in himself. I don't know how some of y'all can say he's boring, this sh*t is lovely.
Also he's pretty as hell, but I think you can see that.
Rosado has been a reliable fighter who can just about any enemy I have him face. Good stats, weapon variety and flyer mobility make him extremely versatile. Leif has been the best fit for him, since his stat boosts and skills work best for how Rosado functions in battle.
His character is also wonderful. A perfect evolution of Forrest and wonderful rep for trans, genderfluid, crossdresser's, and gender questioning people in a time where they really need positive representation. Plus he's spunky and sassy while also being caring and supportive.
Amber is a weirdly good example of hard-hitting but fragile. His low speed and res make him susceptible to one-hit kills, but the enemy can't do that if he doesn't kill them in one hit first. Eirika also works weirdly well for him, as the twins' skills suit whatever I need him to do that turn.
But I can overlook all of that for his character. I love this doof! He's so dumb and goofy but filled with so much positivity and cheerfulness it's hard not to smile at his antics. Even when he royally f*cks something up, you can't help but smile and go, "Youre doing amazing, sweetie."
Alcryst might just be the strongest member of my team and Lyn really helped to bring out his true potential. Her skills perfectly suit his play style and ensure that any he fights will not survive, whether it'd be death by crit, death by Luna, or Alacrity stopping the opponent from even fighting back. And with me giving him avoidance skill, literally nothing can even touch him. It's honestly ridiculous how busted this unit is.
And don't get me started on how much I love this little skrunkly! He stole my love the second his first scene ended and it only got better with each scene he got. I just wanted this boy to have love and happiness and seeing him get that from everyone in his life- his brother, his retainers, his friends, his boyfriend- they all just make me smile.
Alfred has a rocky middle, but he really picked up. Once I started utilizing the resources I got and realized that he got swords after being promoted, Alfred really came into his own and started being a powerhouse. Sigurd has been his Emblem since the start. No one else can really utilize his movement the same way Alfred does.
Alfred also shocked me with his character. I already liked him enough for the goofy and entertaining meathead he was, but the second I unlocked his A-support with Céline, everything I perceived about him changed! He went from being just a fun and silly presence to one of the most tragic yet hopeful characters in this. Someone who, even knowing they have little time left, refuses to give up and continues to strive forward to protect everything and everyone he cares. Someone who doesn't ask for your pity and will always be put you first.
I couldn't have picked a better person to give the Pact Ring to.
Alflear for life, baby!
Zelkov is a unit that started off good and continued to be good throughout the entire game. I've never been in a position where it felt like bringing him along was an inconvenience, even when there was no chest for him to unlock. Hell, for the longest time, he didn't even need an Emblem to assist him, but when I did decide to give him one, the Three Houses lords for him like a glove.
And God, I love listening to him talk! I had no idea what to expect out of him during the lead-up to Engage, but I am so happy with what I got. An enigmatic and mysterious yet sweet, caring, and helpful man who seems like an autistic coded goat on the surface but is just using his many hobbies to avoid dealing with the trauma of his childhood- that is right up my alley!
I'll do the second half in the next post.

Hi! I'm Bitty! My main Tumblr is rimeofthestars. I'm a 25 year old with she/her pronouns who is mostly straight, but a strong ally of LGBTQ+.
I am willing to share any and all of my F/Os! Ask me about my selfships, I can gush about my men all day!!!
♡Meet The Squad♡
Shieda Kayn (Source: League of Legends)
My main man. My skrungly scrimblo. He's everything to me. Oh and Rhaast is there too.
S/I: Tsubame, a fellow acolyte in the Order of Shadow.
Sett (Source: League of Legends)
Another very good boy! He could probably snap me in half like a twig if he hugged me too tightly but he's super gentle with me actually.
S/I: Mielle, a traveling vastayan medic.
Hades (Source: Kid Icarus Uprising)
A character I love so much that I wrote entire made-up lore for him! Yes, he's a villain, but he's just a silly little guy. :) {except he isn't but yknow} Probably my second largest selfship behind Kayn.
S/I: Persephone, a descendant of an ancient order that worshipped Hades in the past.
Guzma (Source: Pokemon Sun and Moon)
My punk crime boyfriend. He was one of my first selfships, and to this day, I love him to bits.
S/I: Laila, a Team Skull grunt who comes from a well-off family that treated her like a doll, to the point she ran away.
Niles (Source: Fire Emblem Fates)
One of my guilty pleasures is this guy. The more I learned about him through support conversations in the game, the more I fell for him. He deserves to be happy.
S/I: Honestly, I just live vicariously through Corrin.
Zelkov (Source: Fire Emblem Engage)
My boyfriend, who probably hasn't slept in a week. I was so sad they made his S support platonic. :( I really love this man.
S/I: Carol, a traveling artist from Firene who ends up being saved by Zelkov from bandits. Finds inspiration comes to her often with him around.
Lucas (Source: Rune Factory 5)
I love this man so much omg. I live for him being unintentionally funny yet also strangely wise and majestic in his own way. I immediately started romancing him as soon as I beat the main story. Bless this man.
S/I: Luna, a teacher and founder of an orphanage. At first fascinated by Lucas's sleight of hand magic tricks, she can't help but feel something truly mysterious and wonderous about him. Almost as if his magic 'tricks' are something much more...
Zenos yae Galvus (Source: Final Fantasy XIV)
At first, I thought he was a pretty standard antagonist. Then he removed his helmet, and I was instantly floored by how pretty he was. He's a little fucked up but I'm no stranger to that lol.
S/I: Ophelia, my character/Warrior of Light ingame. An elezen sage with a gentle yet strong heart. At first, she hated his guts... but she slowly fell for him over time. Definitely an enemies to lovers situation.
--DNI IF YOU'RE A N-ZI OR P-DOPHILE. GO BOTHER SOMEONE ELSE.--

My final party for fire emblem Engage- stats plus analysis
Insanely good- but sadly too good. I invested a lot into her because I knew she would be there the whole game and be a good use for it. But in the end I probably would have been better off giving those resources to someone else and making her the greatest utility character ever- after all the extra point of warp and byleth instruct is something only she can do. Still, it was fun as hell to have a ridiculous one-shotting Alear. Also why does her second sword come so late?
Incredible. Almost all of that is because corrin is really good, but he is the best user for her so it works fine. Once he got super high level Luna happens all the time too! Pretty nice setup for longbow dreadful auras and Covert Dragon-Veins
My beautiful wife, and also a really strong unit. Part of that is Wolf Knight being an incredible class, but she's also got great stats. Gave her the flame Lance for occasion magic damage but silver daggers and later Cinquedea ended up being more than enough
Pretty good! Single-minded, gasping Void, echo and Nova all work really well together, but even without that she isn't bad. Pretty much always had something good she could do
Took a long time to get going but once she did was incredible. I could tell she was strong but had no idea what to do with her until I finally did a reclass into Great Knight with Ike. Then she became a machine- over 80 percent critical rates against everything and defense high enough to never get hurt. Even magic wasn't a big concern. She covered entire halves of the map for me on maddening
Mediocre, but could double as a tank and kill weaker units so was glad to have him. Let him pick up Tomes so he could kill more
He's a dancer. Cool. Kinda funny how they also gave him chain guard and arts, which are both really good utility you almost never use because dancing utility is almost always better
He had bows which was cool, then I needed someone to use Micaiah around the time bows stopped being good. Anyone could warpskip but he had some bulk to occasionally take a hit
He was ok as a sage but I needed someone to take Roy so radiant bow it is! Kinda awful but funny crit every now and then.
The game takes it's sweet time giving you another Dragon. Veyle was good at killing things, and then I gave her draconic hex and byleth so she could be good at utility too
I fell in love with her early on and used her throughout the entire game. She would fluctuate between MVP for ability to dodge tank all the way to dead weight for having no bulk & no damage, but with Lucina she can poison with dual strikes and add an extra 90 to her avoid.
Goldmary had a funny gimmick, and the best stats out of the backup characters from the midgame so I used her. She never did TOO much, but brave assist/Dual Assist+ is a nice combo and with Marth and a Silver Blade she could lodestar rush problem enemies
The best staff bot, but that doesn't mean much. Every now and then another Staffer is good and she does also provide a nice AOE warp/rescue before doing the paralogues. Also, she was funny- worth a couple points
Worse gimmick than goldmary and worse stats, but I needed someone to replace saphir as a backup attacker so in he goes. He would be fine if I gave him some extra levels of course but I needed backup attacks more

I have an AU story idea for Fire Emblem Engage for Dialear fans if they want it. I'm too busy writing Those Scheming Matchmakers, The Emblems than to add another project to my list.
I will also confess I have also binge watched Sailor Moon Crystal this weekend (Is it June yet? I want Stars so much! Looks like I have to read the manga if I want the rest of the story again.), but I couldn't help seeing the parallels between the game and the anime, Alear (Sailor Lythos) and Usagi (Sailor Moon), Ivy (Sailor Elusia) and Ami (Sailor Mercury), Diamant (Sailor Brodia) and Rei (Sailor Mars), Alfred (Sailor Firene) and Makoto (Sailor Jupiter), and Timerra (Sailor Solm) and Minako (Sailor Venus). Veyle is Sailor Gradlon. The men would look more like Mamoru (Tuxedo Mask). Here's the story line.
1,000 years ago, during the war with the Fell Dragon, Alear met and fell in love with Diamant, the crown prince of Brodia. They shouldn't have met, but fate spoke and fell in love. Queen Lumera should've seen it and stopped it, but she loved seeing her daughter so happy.
As Alear and Diamant love grew, the hatred grew as well. Sombron struck Alear down and killed all the Royals of Elyos. Queen Lumera was able to subdue Sombron. However, it took so much power to subdue Sombron that she could only save Alear and put her to sleep, and the rest are reincarnated.
Now 1,000 years later, Sombron is on the verge of waking up, and Lumera knows it's only a matter of time before he does. She hopes she can teach Alear what she needs to do and who she needs to find. But it's too late when she sees another Sailor Senshi she had never seen before and strikes her down. She knows her daughter has the ring, but she still holds on to life so she can give her daughter the broach to transform herself into the Pretty Gaurdian Sailor Lythos. She tells Sommie (who is a combination of Luna and Artemis) to protect Alear.
As Queen Lumera is dying and tears from Alear's face pouring down, she still tells her daughter to have faith and gather the others to fight the evil that is looming once and for all.
Take what you want from it. Change it around if you like. Again let me know if you use this prompt and link me.

Fire Emblem Engage Thoughts
I’m getting close to the end of Fire Emblem: Engage and I have thoughts and feelings about it. I’m putting it under a read more so I don’t spoil things/clog up your timeline (its long)
I think this is probably the weakest Fire Emblem game in decades. It’s such a step backwards in so many ways compared to a lot of the previous games. Yes, including Fates. That game’s plot sucked, but the game at least had engaging (heh) mechanics and stuff. The Emblem system is a cute tool at first. Being able to equip different characters with boosted abilities and whatever feels like an expansion of the passive items in 3H and Echoes, and the super moves are a flashy toy that makes combat a little more “cinematic.” Unfortunately after you start unlocking more of them it becomes an Incredibles situation of “when everyone’s super, nobody is.” When everyone on your team has super powered abilities and whatever, it just becomes more management getting everyone equipped before combat, and the stat boosts stop mattering. What I don’t like most about the Emblem system is how stunted and drained it made basically everything else. All of the skills that normal people classes unlock are basic at best and useless at worst. The only advanced classes with traditionally good skills (Sol, Luna, Ignis, etc) are locked to the royal characters unique classes. So which class you pick for any given unit barely matters. And whats worse is that changing classes... does nothing! It resets your level, but you don’t keep any of the skills you unlock from your old class. “Oh Emblems let you unlock new proficiencies that unlock new classes! :)” but then changing classes at all does nothing. There’s no longer an incentive to exploring different options. All of the skill related flexability is shoved entirely into the Emblem system which is just frustrating to level up. Your options are: Level up 4 levels at a time in battle, then get your progress halted until you go can go back to base and watch a two sentence long cutscene between the character and the Emblem OR go to the arena and very slowly 5 levels at a time with unskippable intros and effects by dumping fragments into people which is arguably even slower. Only then you have the right to dump skill points (a vague and slowly generating resource) into a character so they can learn an Emblem’s skill permanently. Of which they can only equip two of. Some of these skills are actually useful, like Canter, Dual Assist and Resolve, while others are either useless or just minor stat boosts. I think the special moves are neat. Thats about the extent of my enjoying Emblems. Being able to attack multiple enemies at once, manipulate the terrain to give you an advantage, or just super kill one unit are all neat things that you can do! It gives a bit more impact to what you can do in a turn. Kinda wish it was a class skill thing rather than a fancy bauble with a fanservice FE face stapled two it though. There are so many chores between levels. They all feel unnecessary and just contrived ways of making numbers that normally go up in combat go up slightly more. The food items are pointless, why are they here, they’re only used for the cooking “minigame” that could just has easily functioned without them (because they’re not even necessary for it!!), and only serve to clog up the map with item drops. The animals system is basically nothing but just generating more resource drops. 99% of them drop food items which, as I said, are useless, and a handful drop very small amounts of metals for the “weapon crafting” system. The workout minigame sucks. “Hey after every mission come spend five minutes here mashing buttons so your character has a stat boost for the next mission!!” yeah no thanks. The wyvern riding minigame, while an actual minigame instead of just menu options, is entirely pointless and feels like its added on just as a ‘look at the fun minigames we have’ addition. Gift giving returns from 3H but is mostly just fluff and with how limited money is in the game, going and buying the specific gifts (which is the only way to get specific ones) is just a waster of money. The arena actually has a good payoff to it, but it takes so long every time sitting through each character’s intro dialogue for the four hundredth time before you can skip to results. And coming back to it every time after a map just feels like doing vacuuming or laundry. A necessary action thats time consuming and not fun for anybody. Not all of the Somnium bullshit is bad, though. The weapon upgrade system is somewhat nice. It’s a solid improvement to the old FE system of “dump all the gold you have into a single weapon, boosting all its stats to the maximum” and makes it more of an incremental improvement. I could do without the ‘needing materials’ thing, since all the materials are just an unnecessary addition entirely. “Oooh after a level you walk around the map and find 200x Iron Ingots in this bush! congrats!” I like the ‘post game patch’ addition of the friendship events. Not only does it give you an easy outlet to boost unit’s support levels that don’t involve you, it also just lets you skip straight to results. No sitting through unskippable cutscenes or dialogue, just straight results. Thats nice, now add that to the arena. Substories in this game suck. There’s like a total of two sidequests that are actual sidequests and the rest are just “hey remember this old level from fire emblem games that were good and also Fates? do them again!!” I feel like they backed themselves into a corner design wise of going ‘each emblem has to has its own side story’ and then having to do twelve of them. Didn’t leave a lot of room for other side missions without bloating out the game. It’s a shame, really. The plot is... The plot is. It’s pretty lackluster across the board. The characters are one dimensional, the twists are obvious and blatant, the entire plot just boils down to “we gotta gather the mcguffins to save the world” which is just as generic as JRPG plots go. Basically nothing that happened the whole way through has had me invested at all. It’s just going through the motions. The cutscene engine that they used in 3H returns, of characters just all standing in a blurry room doing the same generic animations over and over. The actually animated cutscenes are nice, but they’re few and far between and the game mostly takes place in those blurry rooms. The protagonist is a return to the Corrin style goody twoshoes white bread character archetype, which isn’t very interesting but it at least beats out the plank of wood that was Byleth. The world itself serves entirely as a backdrop to the ‘gather then mcguffins, stop the big evil dragon’ and the relationships between the various nations and stuff aren’t touched on much. They’re just different locales that exist to house the mcguffins and provide different map gimmicks for the gameplay. They don’t matter for more than the max three chapters you spend in each of them, then they fade into the background. God I wish Nintendo would cool it with the Expansion Pass bullshit. I’m sick of paying $45 on top of a regular full video game price of $80 just for some dregs of content before in like a year they actually add something vaguely worthwhile. And at that point, 99% of the time I’m so done with the game that I don’t even bother coming back to it. All of this stuff could have just as easily been optional content in the normal game!! Please!! You even released like 50% of the crumbs within like two weeks of the game coming out. C’mon man. I’m sorry for posting so much about this I just have strong feelings about this franchise and while they game is decent, so much of it is so bad and reminds me so much of how far the game series has fallen. It feels like the exact opposite problem to Pokemon, another series that’s going through rough shit but I’ve loved my whole life. FE’s production value is high, things are polished and flashy but they’re entirely soulless and devoid of sparks of joy. Pokemon’s production value is rough, buggy and unpolished, but its full of soul and has the heart at it’s core that makes it worth it. It sucks and it makes me sad that the state of two franchises I love are just crumbling to dust.
