At some point in tumblr history, the tumblr cycle of hipster media consumption added a component of "mandatory moral value" to its justification for praising or hating anything, which has made it exhausting to come across countless displays of mental gymnastics to justify, morally and ethically, why liking or not liking whatever piece of media (or part of it) makes you essentially a good or a bad person.

Once Upon a Time...

Do you like fairy tales but find yourself wishing they weren't always so hetero-normative?

You're not alone. That's why we feel it's time to shake things up a bit and give some of these stories an LGBT+ update.

And that's exactly what this event is looking to do! This summer we invite you to re-imagine a classic story, or come up with one all your own, starring Fairy Tail characters!

Event Information

Dates: August 23 - August 26

Submissions: Anything that inspires you - art, fics of any length, poetry, aesthetics, edits, head canons, etc.. Both ship and platonic entries are welcome. The most important aspect is that the piece focus on an LGBT+ character(s).

Prompts: We've chosen two different tropes for each day from here that we thought might be fun, but you are welcome to pick others if they inspire you more!

I'm currently in chapter 27 of gideon the ninth (as per @lady-harrowhark 's recommendations) and these are my personal character appreciations at the moment, which will probably change in time, but still:

judith: a fool who thought she could mess with camilla the sixth

marta díaz (that's how I pronounce it in my head, I'm a Spanish speaker, give me a break): a bigger fool who got rightfully ended by camilla the sixth

regina george twin: I have had enough of her

chad the third: fuck this guy in particular, he's the absolute worst

silent yandere simulator twin: kinda maybe stan her a little bit ngl

baby isaac: rip 1, guy got brochetted

baby jannemary: rip 2, sad for this one in particular

abigail: rip 3, she seemed nice

magnus: rip 4, he was a baking cavalier and since this wasn't high school musical, he couldn't win against the status quo

palamedes: turbonerd, feels like a guy I would have shared a philosophy class with in uni

camilla: the icon, the legend, the moment, the wind beneath my wings, she's everything that's right

dulcinea: my personal enemy, I have never trusted her, I will never trust her, she could be killed in front of my eyes and I will still think she has an agenda

protesilaus: his entire personality was the live reaction meme, currently he's live reacting from an unknown location

mayonnaise uncle: the most disagreeable man in the know universe but not as bad as chad, because this guy at least knows some things

duracell bunny nephew: he's there sometimes

harrow: I have to admit, I have criticized her in the past, but I have learned to understand and share her state of paranoia, distrust and anger towards those around her who can't keep up

gideon: she's dense but she's got the spirit

Diluc is a gentleman and nothing below that, yes, but he's also a man. a man that is in love with you very much and does not know what to do with you and the feeling of needing to be near you at all times.

the last time he tried to approach you with affection, it ended up with you locked in an empty room because you had tried to slit his throat with a piece of glass you gained by breaking a lamp— you'd screamed sentences filled with venom so loudly that your voice started to sound brittle at the end of it all.

you won't ever, ever let him put his hands on you. for what reason? your pride is too big even in these situations. you know that fighting him is useless when even his maids aid him in holding you hostage— it's maddening for you to give it too much thought

you can only think that maybe, you should've tried to do something far much worse with that shard of glass.

Swansea to me is one of the characters EVER because something I say a lot when a character is in a life ruining situation like he is is "he'd kill [whoever involved him in it]" because usually they don't but not my old man over here as soon as he finished having to put down his last hope his apprentice whom he couldn't help but to care deeply and was pushed to his death by this stupid cruel maniac who to add insult to injury pushed him to get hurt like this thru the very thing Swansea kept preventing him from doing (also, the reason he'd not be saved was that they used the thing to knock him out) he did very much try to fucking kill Jimmy. He's so real. He's the realest ever and I'm obsessed with him.
