It’s quiet on the ship. All you can hear is the waves crashing outside and the snores of a few other crew members nearby. The view from your window is uninteresting too, just the dark waters and occasional flash of moonlight from above. You try to clamp your eyes closed to somehow force sleep on your body, which never works, but you convince yourself that this time could be the first.

Ten minutes pass of the eye-clenching sleeplessness, and you’ve given up. Laying in bed obviously isn’t doing any good, so maybe a snack will set your mind at ease? You think about the scolding Sanji will give you in the morning for nosing around his kitchen, but you shrug and let your feet carry you outside of your room anyway.

When you round the corner into the kitchen, you’re surprised (or not so surprised?) to see Luffy in the same position you are. He’s leaned against the counter staring out into space with tired puffy eyes— like he’d woke less than a few minutes ago and decided he needed a snack. No judgement.

He soon notices your presence, smiling gently and offering to share the grapes he’s munching on. You decline, instead opting for the fried rice you’d somehow convinced Sanji to save for you. Simply taking it out of the fridge to eat cold and pouring a glass of juice for both you and Luffy.

You sit together quietly snacking, listening to the ocean, snores, and each other. Luffy’s eyeing your fried rice (the guy has no self control!), so you scoop up some of the best rice and toppings and hold it to Luffy for taking.

Soon enough, the snacks are finished and Luffy places the empty dishes into the sink. He looks tired, rubbing his eyes and stretching before looking at you with a blank expression. You rarely see Luffy in his tired, calm state. It’s cute! you think.

“Are you ‘gonna sleep tonight?” he asks and you groan, covering your eyes with your hands.

“Wish I could.”

“Well come with me!” he smiles “You can’t be all alone!”

You giggle at Luffy thinking he’s joking until he holds out his hand. He ushers you to take it, and you do, and now he’s giddily leading you to captains quarters without even giving you a second to think. Luffy’s big smile should be concerning (especially at this hour), but you pay no mind and allow him to pull you along.

You don’t recall ever being in Luffy’s quarters before, but it’s about how you’d expect. Sheets of paper covering tables, photos, and his personal belongings scattered around but somehow still neatly. His bed, while unmade, looks the comfiest of any bed you’d seen on the ship; fit for a captain.

“Get comfy, y/n!” Luffy says, stepping over to blow out a candle to leave the room in darkness.

You do get comfy, slipping into his bed like it was made to be. It feels like the blankets double your warmth and hug you just in the right way, and his pillow is the perfect cool temperature. He slides in too, careful to avoid accidentally knocking into you in the dark, but wrapping an arm around your midpoint and pulling your body close to him when he’s settled.

Luffy draws shapes on your arm to help your sleepiness kick in, but the fact that he’s cuddling with you in his bed… sleep is definitely not going to find you tonight. You try to calm your beating heart, but to feel his bare legs against yours, how he’s holding you against him, his fingers dancing on your skin, and his breath gently hitting the back of your neck, you’re wide awake.

You can feel the blush on your face, but Luffy seems unbothered. You try to match his slow breathing, and it helps, but you can still only think about him. How couldn’t you? You’ve got butterflies. Oh god. You think about his arm resting on your hip. You wonder if his eyes are closed, or if he’s thinking about you too? You try to listen to his heartbeat.

You don’t realize you dozed off until the sun shines through Luffy’s window. He pulls you closer in rejection to the sun, burying his face into your neck. What a soft side of Luffy, you think to yourself. The butterflies from last night come back and you wonder if he feels them too. Though his snoring says he isn’t feeling much of anything, right now.

When you wake for the second time, the ship’s sounds consist of Sanji’s cooking, Zoro, Chopper and Usopp chatting close by, Franky, Nami, Robin and Brook in the distance. But Luffy still is wrapped around you, while awake, but holding you close. You smile to yourself… you could get used to this.

Just worry about what the rest of the ship will say when you emerge from Luffy’s quarters!

We are interrupting our regularly scheduled program to bring you a snippet of a potential ZoSan undercover as a married couple fic:

(Timeline wise shoehorned in sometime shortly after the timeskip, before the Strawhats make it back into the news big time.)

(People need saving from a exclusive circle of nobility, but most of the Stawhats have already been seen around the island, so the lot ends up on Zoro and Sanji to try get in posing as a freshly married couple on their honeymoon to try get more information.)

[after coming up with the plan and Zoro and Sanji hesitantly agreeing]

Robin: "You seem a little stressed, Cook-san."

Sanji, chain-smoking his third cigarette: "I'm fine, I'll do this… I just… I don't like lying about something as significant as marriage, alright? I know it's stupid, but that's just how I am."

Luffy, perking up from where one might have thought he wasn't paying attention at all: "Oi, Sanji, promise to protect Zoro?"

Sanji, puffing out smoke: "Obviously, the Marimo would get lost within all of two seconds without me having his back."

Luffy: "Good! Now, Zoro--!"

Zoro, already rising to the bait: "Oi, if anyone is protecting anyone, I'll be guarding your lanky ass, shit cook!"

Luffy, laughing: "Alright, then as the captain of this ship I hereby pronounce you married!"

Zoro:

Sanji:

Robin: "Oh my, congratulations!"

Brook: bursts into song

Luffy, grinning at Sanji: "See, now it's not a lie anymore, so you don't have to feel bad about calling Zoro your husband."

Zoro: "LUFFY!!! YOU CAN'T JUST--"

Sanji: wordlessly walks off to get ready for the mission

Usopp: "Wait, wait!" runs after Sanji, grabbing his wrist

Sanji: stares

Usopp, sweating nervously: "Need your ring size…"

Sanji: staring intensifies

Usopp, scurrying off as quickly as humanly possible: "Wedding gift!"

Luffy, in the distance, still being yelled at by Zoro: "Too bad we don't have time to celebrate, I really want some wedding cake… :("

Early Morning Cuddles

“You came to my room and woke me up at 4am, to cuddle?” You ask Luffy, your voice heavy with sleep.

His warm hand slips into yours and he nods, rubbing his eyes with his free hand, “Mhm.” 

You shifted, turning around so you could face him fully. He’s sitting criss-cross applesauce, still wearing his signature jean shorts which you know are uncomfortable to sleep in. His eyes are heavy with sleep and there is a slight pout on his face, his fingers now tugging on yours. Your eyes shift to Nami and Robin who are sleeping peacefully in their bed, and you let out a sigh of relief, happy that they’re still asleep. You look back to Luffy who’s still waiting for you to wrap him in your arms, and who are you to deny him? Especially when he looks so cute and innocent right now. 

Scooting over to make room for him to join you, opening your arms, Luffy immediately crawls into them, his arms wrapping around you tightly. You sigh into the embrace and it’s warm, so you move the cover to your legs to get rid of some of the heat. He buries his head in your neck and litter soft kisses, gently sucking on your flesh. You let out a soft moan and move your head back, making eye contact with him, a smile gracing your lips. “I thought you wanted cuddles.” You whisper. 

Luffy lets out a smile and brings a hand to your face, his thumb gently caressing your cheek. “I do. But I want to kiss you, too.” He whispers back, making heat rise to your cheeks. He leans in and your lips lock with his in a slow kiss. Luffy’s kiss is soft and hot and you wonder when did he get this good because you have to close your legs to stop the heat from pooling. He pulls away and instead, pulls you into his body, his arms wrapping securely around your waist with his head in your neck. 

You feel his eyelashes flutter against you and now you know he’s going to sleep. Your arms wrap around him and you kiss the top of his head. 

“I love you.” He whispers. You smile and close your eyes, “I love you, too.”

The sun was beginning its descent, casting a golden glow over the deck of the Thousand Sunny. The ship rocked gently with the rhythm of the ocean, creating a soothing cadence that matched the lazy afternoon. You and Luffy were nestled in his hammock, its soft fabric cradling you both in a cocoon of warmth and comfort.

The world around you was tranquil; the crew was taking a well-deserved break, lounging around and enjoying the serene atmosphere. The breeze from the ocean was a refreshing contrast against the fading warmth of the afternoon sun. It drifted over your shoulders, carrying with it the salty tang of the sea and the gentle scent of the ship's wood.

Luffy's tan skin was a comforting warmth against you as he held you close. His presence was both grounding and comforting, his rhythmic humming a soft backdrop to the sounds of the ship. His hand threaded through your locs with a tender, rhythmic touch, while the other caressed the gentle curve of your back. The sensation of his fingers brushing against your skin was soothing, a perfect counterpoint to the cooling breeze.

He whispered softly, his breath tickling your ear, urging you to look at the horizon. You shifted onto your elbows slightly, feeling the hammock adjust to your movement as Luffy helped you turn over. His touch was gentle, lifting his straw hat from your head and guiding you so that you could face the lights rays. As you settled back into his embrace, you were now lying with your back against his chest, his legs intertwined with yours. The sunset painted the sky in rich hues of orange and pink, a vibrant contrast against the deepening blue of the ocean.

You propped yourself up slightly, eager to see the light reflecting off the water. The golden red hues of the sun danced across the waves, creating a shimmering path that seemed to lead right to the horizon. As the sun made its final dip, Chopper's voice rang out with cheerful enthusiasm. "Good night, Sun!" he called out, his voice filled with innocent delight. It was a simple, heartfelt moment that made you smile.

Sanji, ever the diligent chef, stood up from his seat and began to serve dinner, the aroma of his cooking wafting through the air. The colors of the sky continued to shift, the vibrant blues and oranges giving way to cooler shades of pink and dusky purple. A few stars began to peek out from the deepening sky, twinkling softly in the fading light.

Luffy's cheeky, playful smile never wavered as he pressed his cheek gently against your shoulder. You looked down to find him gazing up at you with a bright, infectious grin. His eyes sparkled with warmth and affection, and it made your own smile widen. You leaned into him, pressing your nose against his cheek, and let your foreheads rest together in a tender, intimate gesture.

The world seemed to slow down, the beauty of the sunset and the closeness of Luffy creating a moment of pure, unspoken calm. The gentle caress of the breeze, and the warmth of Luffy’s embrace all combined to make this moment feel timeless and perfect. You felt at peace, wrapped in the simple joy of being together, as the sky continued to change colors and the stars took their places in the evening sky.

The moon was just beginning to peek out from behind the horizon when Sanji’s voice rang out, "Come on, you two, dinner!"

Luffy didn't need to be told twice. With an excited gleam in his eyes, he scrambled out of the hammock, taking you with him in one fluid motion. His arms were strong and steady as he lifted you effortlessly, your squeals of delight mingling with his joyful laughter. The two of you tumbled onto the deck, giggling like children as Luffy steadied you both.

The crew watched on, their faces illuminated with affection. Zoro smirked, leaning casually against the railing, while Nami and Robin exchanged knowing smiles. Usopp chuckled, shaking his head at Luffy’s boundless energy, and Franky gave a thumbs-up, his grin as wide as ever. Chopper clapped his hooves together in delight, his eyes shining with happiness.

Luffy's excitement was infectious, and you couldn't help but smile as he carried you toward the promise of a delicious meal and the warmth of your friends. 

You’d be asleep in his arms again soon enough. ______________________________________________________________

the sunlight was peeking through the fluttering curtains in the bedroom, slivers of gold making an abstract painting out of the freckles on Ace’s back. ace was sprawled out across the bed, drooling on his pillow with an arm slung around your waist while you ran your fingers through his wavy hair massaging his scalp.

it’s very rare that mornings were this peaceful - between Ace being on call with the fire station and having to run out at odd times, Luffy and Sabo breaking down the front door any time they needed their sibling, and you having to go to work; this quiet morning was heaven sent and just what you both needed. ace lets out a snore and moves his head to press against your stomach, letting out a content sigh as you hold in a giggle at your boyfriend.

ace gives you a squeeze, lifting his head up giving you a sleepy squint “what ‘re you doin’ up sugar? ‘so early.”

you couldn’t help pressing a soft kiss to his cheek, the days old stubble scratching against your lips “just admiring you and the peaceful morning we never get,”

“mhmm,” Ace pressed his body closer to you - your own personal heated blanket - and wrapped both of his arms around you. “I love you sugar.”
