— LUFFY
Luffy loves it when you introduce him to new people, but he's usually too distracted to pay attention. Until you call him your husband.
The moment the word leaves your mouth, his face lights up.
He repeats it INSTANTLY, grinning ear to ear. "Husband? That's me, right? You mean me?"
If you try to play it off and say it was a mistake, he ignores your protests and laughs. If he likes it, he likes it. And you're gonna keep calling him that, no matter what!!
He immediately starts calling you "wife" in return, but in the most casual way, like it's completely normal.
He doesn't fully understand what marriage means in a traditional sense, but to him, being your husband means you're his person.
If the crew hears about it, they all would have different reactions. Zoro snorts, Nami fights the urge to roll her eyes, and Sanji almost faints in disbelief.
Luffy, however, is completely unbothered.
If you tell him later that you only said it as a slip up, he just smiles and says "But you could mean it, right?"
He doesn't let it go. He starts using it as an excuse to do things for you. "Husbands have to share their food."
*Cue him stealing from your plate instead*
He loves how you blush when he casually refers to himself as your husband mid conversation.
If you ever genuinely called him that again, he'd get the biggest grin ever and he won't stop talking about it for hours.
He doesn't care about official ceremonies or rings. If you called him your husband once, that's enough for him.
——— ☆
You were introducing the crew to a kind old shopkeeper on an island, someone who had been chatting with you warmly for the past few minutes.
"Oh, and this is my husband, Luffy." You added casually, not even realizing it until the words were already out. You meant captain, not husband. At least that's what you wanted to believe.
Luffy blinked, tilting his head to the side, before a wide grin formed on his lips. "Yeah, that's me, I'm her husband!"
Wait, what? You froze, stiffened, locked in place. Did he seriously just agree?
The shopkeeper chuckled, a warm smile glued to their lips. "Well, aren't you two adorable? How long have you been married for?"
You opened your mouth to correct them, but Luffy beat you to it. "Long enough!" He answered confidently, throwing an arm around your shoulder.
You looked at him, eyes wide, stunned. He just grinned at you, completely unbothered. You sighed, deciding to let it go. For now.
— ZORO
Zoro is not the type to get flustered easily, but calling him your husband? Yeah, that'll do it.
He'd be calm on the outside, but on the inside, he's replaying that moment over and over again.
If you called him that in front of strangers, like introducing him as your husband to avoid weirdos, he'd immediately go along with it.
He doesn't see the need to correct you. If you called him that, then fine. That's what he is now.
If someone asked when you got married, he'll just say "None of your business." and move on.
He secretly enjoys watching you get flustered after realizing what you said, trying to cover it up and say it was just a small mistake.
"Didn't know you were that eager to make it official."
If Sanji overheard, it would be war. "YOU?! HOW DARE YOU–" "Shut up, cook. She said it herself."
He says "cook" as if it's a slur.
If you apologized later for the slip up, he would just simply shrug, saying that it's just some words, but the slight redness on his ears would say otherwise.
He wouldn't bring it up much, but if someone else called him your boyfriend or anything else, he'd correct them. "Husband." No explanation.
Zoro starts to lowkey like the title, but he would NEVER admit it.
He doesn't joke about things like this. If you seriously wanted to be with him in that way, he'd take it 100% seriously.
If you actually bring up the idea of marriage later, he's going to instantly agree.
He starts calling you "wife" just to mess with you!!
——— ☆
You were traveling through a town when an unfamiliar man started hitting on you. He was persistent, and you were quickly running out of patience.
Then, without thinking, you gestured toward Zoro. "Sorry, I'm here with my husband." You sighed as the man's gaze followed the direction you were pointing at.
You immediately regretted it. Zoro turned his head slightly, raising an eyebrow. The man scowled but backed off, muttering an apology before walking away.
You exhaled in relief, until you felt Zoro's gaze on you.
"Husband, huh?" He muttered, amused.
Your face burned, heart beat quickening. "I just said that to get rid of him."
The corners of Zoro's lips tugged upwards, forming a smirk. "Didn't mind it." He kept walking like nothing happened, leaving you flustered.
— SANJI
Sanji freezes completely the second you call him your husband.
For a split second, he actually imagined it. Being your husband. Starting a family. Then his brain shut down.
If you were introducing him to someone that way, he'd try to act normal, but would fail miserably. "Y-Yes, that's right, I'm her– her– her husband, yes–"
His heart would be racing.
If you called him that to avoid someone flirting with you, he'd immediately play along, but also fall deeply in love with you all over again.
If you told him later it was just a slip up, a small and meaningless mistake, he would dramatically explain the feelings he had in that very second. "For a moment, I lived in paradise."
He would start calling you "my wife" at every opportunity. "Oh, my darling wife, allow me to–" "Sanji, stop."
If someone else flirted with you after that, he's quick to place himself in the middle of you and the other person. "I'm her husband, thanks."
I swear bro this man is SO sassy.
Sanji would start daydreaming about an actual wedding. He also gets more protective than usual, standing a little closer, guiding you with a hand on your back.
If you genuinely meant it, he'd be the happiest man alive.
He swears to be the best husband in the world, treat you amazingly, kiss the ground you walk on.
Sanji will never, ever forget the moment you called him that. The moment you called him your husband. Those words remain imprinted in his mind, locked in a special place.
——— ☆
You were in a crowded restaurant, and the waiter was getting a little bit too flirty for your liking. So, without thinking, you immediately decided to shut him down, but not directly. "My husband will have the same order as me."
Sanji knocked over his glass of water, almost choking as he coughed severely. You turned to see him frozen, eyes wide, face completely red. You groaned, pinching your nose bridge. Here we go...
"Say it again, love." Sanji literally sparkled, practically glowing. His eyes held a childish shine, which you couldn't help but describe as adorable.
You sighed. "It was just–"
"Say it again."
You buried your face in your hands, already feeling your heart beat increasing. Gosh, why did he have to be so handsome?
"Sanji, stop." You mumbled, resting your chin in your palm, elbow propped up on the table.
"My darling wife, please–"
"Sanji I swear that if you don't stop this, I will hold you down underwater and watch you suffocate."
"I wouldn't mind that one bit. Dying by your hands is an honor, sweetheart." He winked, smiling as he leaned in closer, giving you a soft kiss on the lips.
He drove you insane. But in the best way possible.

Waiting For You (Luffy, Sanji, Zoro)
Tumblr media
_____ Pairings: Luffy x Reader; Sanji x Reader; Zoro x Reader Summary: Two years apart is torture to him, and all he wants is you. Warnings: hurt/comfort, reverse comfort, SPOILERS for Marinefod Arc and Beyond A/N: I'm so sorry for not uploading, exams have been killing me 😭 [One Piece Masterlist] _____
- Luffy -
Luffy was filled with a pain he had never known.
Despite being the one to adhere to Rayleigh's advice and deliver the message - to meet in two years instead of three days at Sabody - sometimes it was hard to ignore the ache in the back of his chest. He knew at the forefront, there was grief, but buried beneath, perhaps as a side-effect, lay loneliness.
He lost his brother, Ace.
The man he grew up with, the man he had chased and admired and loved.
Ace had died saving him.
Luffy had felt as the warmth usually emitted in waves was extinguished in seconds; so quickly, so ruthlessly, so unnaturally. He had felt unwavering strength collapse so suddenly, strong limbs losing all their life as Ace slumped atop him. And yet he could only tremble in shock, as a cascade of memories raged through his head. Memories of the man, the brother, he would lose. He could only hear broken promises, broken organs, the shattering of something deep within him. Then silence, escape, only to wake to reality again.
And in the absence of his brother, there was also the absence of his friends; his nakama.
Luffy needed his crew more than ever now.
Crewmembers hold a special place in their hearts for Luffy; their captain, the man who saved them and guides them with his ambition, his kindness and his strength. But most don't know how much they saved him in return. Luffy hated solitude; despised it. It stemmed from a youth spent fighting for a place next to Ace and Sabo, desperate for company, for connection, for love. So, when he created his crew, he silently felt like he finally had it all. Friends, a family he would protect by any means, and trust in every sense.
But now, he was back in the overwhelming void.
He had grown so used to life with friends.
He missed pranking Zoro with Usopp and Chopper; his laughter had come so easily then, so natural as it mingled with annoyed shouts and teasing remarks. He missed as Robin would tell him of the stories in books he did not care to read; somehow, she could make them sound so interesting to him, though he only saw paper and dull words. He missed the thrill of dinnertime, Sanji’s meals a treasure he looked forward to every second of the day. He missed Franky’s cool inventions, Brooke’s exhilarating music and even Nami’s shouting was nostalgic now.
And you.
God, he needed you.
He was so sure that one hug from you would be enough to cure the turmoil he faced in quiet nights, when no company could keep darker thoughts at bay. So sure, that a soft caress was the cure to the overwhelming and confusing ache that resided where his heart should be. He never had the time to stop and realise how much you saved him every day. In the extra meals you would sneak him, in the quiet words you would utter, in the kisses that brushed his cheek and the hands that held him. He never realised how much he had been ignorant to its value, how much reliance he placed on those simple gestures.
He never knew what it felt like to be tethered to another being. To feel every emotion you felt tenfold in his own skin, to feel warmth and ease by one smile, to feel belonging and comfort by one’s presence. Luffy had never loved someone that way before. The rush of emotion and devotion was confusing, but it was also everything to him. And the withdrawal felt like there was this void, an emptiness in the shape of you. An emptiness that even with his other crewmembers, he doesn’t think could ever be filled without you.
So, Luffy trained, desperately, relentlessly, grateful for Rayleigh’s guidance and presence. He even spoke to the giant fauna on his island of you, because there was no one else to listen to just how much he missed you. He focused on building his strength so that he could protect his crew, so that he could be strong the next time he saw you. So that he never felt what it was like to have that bond severed by such things as distance again. Temptation would run rampant, and sometimes Luffy would want to just cross the seas to know you were safe, but the captain kept at it.
Missing you, but hoping to become better, for you and his nakama.
.....
Two years apart from the crew changed you, as your physical strength and abilities seemingly multiplied alongside your features. However, although things changed, some things remained constant, almost unbearably so. You had spent the past years in a constant worry, in a constant pain as you thought of your boyfriend and all he had to face alone. You hadn't been there to support him, to hug him and love him as he faced grief, turmoil and separation from a crew you know he adored. So, when you step foot back onto the Sunny, after years without its wooden floors beneath your feet, you are filled with unspeakable excitement, but nerves lie heavy against your chest.
"[y/n]!!"
There is a squeal, and instantly warm arms wrap around you, as the sight of a familiar navigator enters your vision.
"Nami, I missed you!!"
You smile easily as tears fill your eyes, with years spent unable to see or contact your friend for months on end, building up and pulling emotion from you. When she lets go of her vice grip and you step apart, your eyes widen at her beauty and the glow of her strength, clear she too had made the most of the two years separated.
"Missed you too, you look amazing!!"
"Speak for yourself," you grin, before your eyes dart to other members of the crew who grin excitedly at your presence.
"Yo ho ho ho, it's lovely to see you again [y/n]-san, may I see your pant-"
Nami thwaks Brook before he continues, but your smile doesn't waver as a nostalgic air fills the space between you all. Robin, too, had grown even more beautiful than you could think possible, and Franky and Ussop had been so happy to see you again. They clamour in their greeting, already sharing brief stories on the adventures had with such time that pulled you all apart. And as you drown in the joy of reuniting with comrades, there tugs in the back of your mind, the absence of a certain trio and Chopper.
"Hey, do any of you know where-"
But before you voice your thoughts, you look to the sky and hear Chopper calling down to you all, and Zoro, Sanji and Luffy look down from atop a massive bird that approaches the ship.
"Finally!!"
Nami grins as she meets your gaze knowingly, though your eyes are torn away quickly, back to the sight of the man you missed more than anything.
"Hey, everyone!!"
You see his wide grin, his raven hair beneath the straw hat you hadn't seen in too long, and he seems happy and he seems grown. You all wave back, smiling and yelling in greeting.
"Luffy!!"
"It's so good to see you again!!"
"We've missed you!!"
Shouts fill the sky.
Sanji gets a nosebleed that takes him to the sea.
You look on, surprised to see that Zoro now only has one eye.
But then, his eyes meet yours.
Eyes that soften when he catches your gaze, and widen slightly as though surprised you were actually there after so long apart. And as your heart fills with contentment in seeing him so safe, and strong and joyous, his heart squeezes tight at the sight of you, beautiful, smiling and within arm's reach once more. Crewmates gather tight to greet the remaining four crew members, and Chopper cries as he sees you, holding tight to your leg. Sanji is barely conscious, and Zoro grunts in greeting, though a smile plays on his lips. Yet, your gaze gets dragged back to him, to Luffy, as he greets his friends.
When a moment passes, and friends disperse to talk to other friends, it is suddenly and finally you and Luffy in front of each other, and the air shifts a little. You see your boyfriend's eyes waver, as despite the way he grinned and yelled in his happiness as he greeted his beloved nakama, the crew he so longed to see, his heart gives way to you. You see beneath his gaze a glimpse of the hurt he buries, and the love that swims endlessly in a constant motion, never changing. Luffy's wide grin wavers, just slightly, and in its stead, a warm and gentle smile, full of relief, takes its place.
Long rubber limbs wrap around you, and you can hear your crewmates hush as they witness the two of you reuniting, yet you don't care about the prying eyes.
"I missed you, [y/n]"
You hear the slight crack in his voice as he says your name to you for the first time in years, and only for you to hear. He buries his head deep into the crook of your neck as he breathes you in, and you feel him physically relax, take a breath, as he drowns in you like he wanted to do when Ace died. Like he wanted to do when long nights left him feeling lonely and in need of one of your hugs, the ones that made every problem seem small, and made him feel all that was important.
"I missed you, too, Lu"
Tears gather in your eyes as you squeeze him tight, and you feel his smile forming against your skin. He rocks you playfully in his arms, just before he pulls apart, just so he can see you with his own eyes again. And when he does, he looks at you like you were the treasure he longed to find, and he glows, he radiates a happiness you were all too glad to find. A kiss is placed gently on the crown of your head, as one limb snakes its way around your waist, keeping you close, instilling his warmth on your skin. When you both turn to your crewmates, they look on with their warm gazes and fond smiles.
Finally, everything is as it should be.
"Shi shi shi! Alright! We're all back together, let's head to the New World!"
Your crewmates yell in excitement, and you laugh in delight, but when Luffy catches the mirth in your irises, he makes a secret promise to never let you so far out of arm's reach again.
- Sanji -
Sanji wanted to perish, just a little.
He would look often to the sky like it had something to do with the current situation he was in. Two years stuck on an island, devoid of his crew, devoid of women, devoid of you. Everyday he was met with the incessant shouting to wear a dress, met with the task of mastering recipes and haki and techniques. And he knew, that the situation was externally, quite funny. He figured that if the men of his crew were here with him on this garishly pink island, they might laugh at it all. But at the end of long days, Sanji wanted to cry a little, wanted to be held a little, wanted to be loved a little.
He was terrified in every sense of the word when he saw you vanish right in front of his eyes. He didn’t think he could’ve shouted louder your name, until he was eventually whisked away too with raging emotions and worry and the relentless pounding of his heart against his chest. When he awoke to the island, he felt like he had been whisked off to a nightmare, with no knowing the fate of his crew or you. But when the message from his captain had travelled to him, and with no inkling of where on earth you could be, he had resigned himself to the two years of training on Momoiro Island.
The days were long.
But the nights were even longer.
At least during the day, there was company. Despite the okama maybe not being his first choice in said company, they were a distraction at least. A distraction from the absence of a crew, he considers now his second family. A distraction from the fact that he was on an island in God knows where, with crewmembers scattered in places he could not know. A distraction from the fact that he was very much alone, and months away from the feeling of belonging he had been so anchored to not so long ago.
But when the day crept away and gave way to the long nights, Sanji could not fight the presence of grave absences so easily.
Most often, he would think of you.
Yes, there were no women on this island, but Sanji found himself feeling he couldn’t care less, if only you were here. But you weren’t. Every night, he would dream of your smile, of your softness and your grace, only to wake and feel like he was in a living nightmare again. He missed your kindness and your love. Sanji never thought he was a man who could be loved the way you loved him. He never thought a woman as perfect as you would spare a time of her life for him, but you cared so deeply, so immensely for him.
He couldn’t count the number of times your form would fit against his back as he cooked, your sweet reassurances and caresses making him feel like it would be okay to die because you had sent him straight to heaven. He can’t tell you how grateful he was when you caught that distant look in his eye, the one he would bear when plagued by the thoughts and memories that weren’t kind to him. How often you would save him from himself by your smile and presence and warmth. He didn’t know how to live without that, without you anymore.
He missed you.
He needed you, desperately.
And yet, the sun would rise to the same routine, and distance and time would keep him from you. Sanji can feel himself getting stronger, with every passing day, but inside he feels as though he is wilting without the remembrance of the way that you loved him. He can feel himself getting weaker to the temptation of searching for you, but every time he was drawn back, knowing you were spending the years getting stronger for the crew, too. So, he focused and willed himself to work, for you, for Luffy, for the crew.
He just hoped that when you saw him again, you hadn’t forgotten how much you loved him.
.....
Wandering the streets of Sabody after two years, you are full of anticipation and the excitement of catching a glimpse of a friend, of a crewmate you missed so dearly. The two years apart had been a turmoil of emotions, of worry and concern, of training and hardships as you honed your strength and of the desperate need to be in the vicinity of your boyfriend once more. Each day would drag on, and though now you were thankful for your newfound power and skills, long nights without company left you wishing to cross the sea.
But now, finally, you are here, and the man you longed to see has just arrived.
Sanji knew it was time, time to return home, to the crew, to you. But his hands wouldn’t stop trembling. As soon as he said his brief goodbye and farewell to the okama that brought him to Sabody, he was overwhelmed by the presence and the sight of women. Over the years he knew you, he had found it so easy to get out of the rhythm of falling to women's feet, because why would he want to with you by his side? But now, after years apart and blessed with the sight of women with curves, and smiles, and light laughter, he struggles to keep the blood in his system.
He is eager, almost desperate, to be by your side again, but he feels he may actually die once he sees you. He could tolerate these nameless women on the streets, but you? The woman he loved? The woman he hadn't seen in two years, and yet knows him more than he knows himself? Excitement and fear mingle within him at the thought of reuniting, of wondering if your love remained true, if he could stay upright or if your beauty would cause him to utterly collapse, if you would look to him as you always did.
But then, he caught a glimpse of it.
[h/c] hair that caught the light of the sun, soft skin that ran over curves and edges he had run his hands along a million times, [e/c] eyes that glimmered and a warm voice that spoke to a shopkeeper just meters away. And it was you, and you were right there after so long, and Sanji felt his heart rate leap within his chest and blood rise to his face. You were so beautiful, so ethereal, so much more the goddess than his mere imagination could conjure in the days and nights spent away from you. He struggles to remain upright, but when your eyes turn to him, he sees them widen in surprise and yet swim in the light and the love and the warmth they always did when you looked to him.
And suddenly, everything was okay in the world again.
Fear drains instantly from Sanji as he steps towards you, hands still trembling, but his body craving its solace with you. His voice is lost, but you are overwhelmed with the joy of seeing your boyfriend safe, strong, and there.
"Sanji!!"
Your smile is brighter than it has ever been, and Sanji feels like he truly is lost in heaven when you rush to him faster than he can take a breath, and tackle him into a sure embrace. He falters on his feet just once, before he catches himself and catches you. He feels your soft skin and the warmth you emit in waves, he can smell your sweet scent, and he feels his heart come undone. All that time alone, untethered to you and the crew, was worth it to be here again.
"I missed you, love"
Sanji's voice is quiet against your skin and full of emotion that makes tears catch at your lower lashes. You pull apart briefly, though Sanji doesn't let you go too far, too scared this was just another dream, too scared you would run off to where he can't find you again. You watch as tears gather in his eyes too, and you let out a soft laugh and caress the curve of his cheek. He leans eagerly into the palm of your hand, face flushed and eyes swimming in adoration of you.
"I missed you, too, Sanji"
"You're so beautiful"
"Hmm, and you look so handsome, my love"
There is a moment of silence where you gather your excitement and simply look at the other and cherish the other, and then you move, and your lips are on his, and he threatens to implode. You are warm, so warm, and gentle and soft. Sanji is lost in you. Those that pass by remain ignorant of the turmoil the two of you faced in the months spent apart, not knowing who was safe, or injured or alive. And you feel the depths of his emotion ignite when his mind comes together and he returns the kiss.
When the two of you pull apart, Sanji takes your hand in his. No extreme nosebleed that threatens to kill him, no limbs that give way and threaten to pull him to the ground. Just security, comfort and love and you. Both of you travel in the direction of the Sunny, too caught up in each other to spare anyone else a second of the time spent now reunited.
- Zoro -
The silence was new, unusual, unbearable...
When once laughter could be heard from the next room, and company sought him even as he sat in solace, now there is nothing. Dracule Mihawk's castle was cold and silent. The only source of conversation would come from Perona, who would merely appear to annoy him, trying to find a cure to her own boredom. There was no gentle lull of the sea beneath his feet, no company to live by or protect, no adventure, no light, no joy.
No crew.
Zoro didn't realise how accustomed he had become to the general life of those he had grown to call friends. How much Luffy's shouting could fill the void in between, how much the sound of conversation between Robin and Nami brought an ease to the atmosphere, how much Ussop and Chopper's shenanigans filled him with silent comfort.
How much he had grown to need it all.
Zoro knew he was in the depths when he found himself even missing dinner, warm and cooked by a chef he would often berate, served among rowdy friends and you. Each night, Zoro finds himself clawing at the hole in his chest, searching through the cold sheets for your warmth and soft skin. But he never found you. His days are filled with headaches and cold sweat, like his body had an actual aversion to not being by your side. But there was no cure for the absence of you.
He didn't know what happened when he found himself on Kuraigana island, the home to the man he was destined to exceed. He didn't know if you were hurt, how far you were, if you were lost like he felt he was... if you were dead. All he knew was you had to be alive, and he had to trust in his Captain's message. All he knew was there were no answers to be had here, in the cold, bare island he was resigned to for two years. All he knew was he could not find you without clues and the skill to take him across the sea.
He could not protect you.
So every day, he drowned himself in the violent swing of his swords, in the honing of physical strength. Silent meals were eaten before he slept on silent nights. There were no whispers as you gushed about the events of the day in his bed. There was no latching onto arms as you spoke into the night with his hums and caresses, a sign he listened. No kisses greeted him after a day of hard work, no worried voice interrupted his training sessions, asking him to take a break, to not push too hard. No excited greetings ignited his dull heart, no smile that filled him with warmth, and softness and ease.
Soon, Zoro forgot what gentleness felt like.
He forgot what comfort felt like.
He forgot what warmth felt like.
All he knew was the same rhythm every day for two years. The same morning sun, cold in its greeting. The same day spent fighting ridiculously overpowered baboons, relentlessly training his haki with a silently demanding teacher, just trying to survive through it all. The same night he dreaded, nursing new injuries, wondering why wetness would form in his eyes, wondering why tightness gathered at his chest. Wondering why he couldn't sleep like he used to, before Luffy, before the crew, before you.
God, he missed you.
Zoro felt like he was stronger than he had ever been, and yet he feels like the shell of the man he once was. Despite loosing an eye, and burdening himself with training that was sure to pull him apart, he found no pain harder to bear than the lack of you. He felt weak in your absence, berated himself for the lack of peaceful sleep he had and the lack of his mind at ease. He wondered if you felt the same. He wondered if this is what love was supposed to feel like.
He wondered if you knew how much he needed you now.
.....
When you walked up to Shakky’s bar, nostalgic after two years without seeing the same sight, you had expected the lack of your crewmates. You were a few days early, after all. But when she greeted you, she looked at you knowingly, and you didn’t think you could keep your jaw off the floor when she told you that someone had already arrived.
That someone?
Roronoa Zoro.
The two years spent apart had been full of training until your limbs gave out, honing power until you collapsed, and worrying endlessly about the fate of your crewmates and your Captain, and your boyfriend. When you were whisked away to your island, it was after you saw Zoro disappear from the face of the planet by Kuma, worse for wear and bearing injuries, you agonised over his fate. But now, hearing he is here and hearing he is the first to arrive, you cannot simply wait for him to find you. And so, you travel amongst Sabody for the first time in two years, hoping to catch a glimpse of a wandering swordsman and see if he truly had gotten better at navigation or if his early presence was merely a fluke.
The streets of Sabody are busy, and even a bed of green hair was hard to find, but Zoro couldn't even find the Sunny. He cursed as he looked left and right, annoyance gathering in his system as everything looked the same to him and directions were damned. Nevertheless, he travels the space in between, unwilling to acknowledge that it is fear that mingles beneath his subtle excitement.
He would see his crew again, his Captain, he pledged to serve.
He would see you again.
He wondered if things would be as they always were, but two years apart felt like eons when not tethered to you. He wonders what changed about you and what stays the same. Would you still smile at his stubbornness as you used to? Would you still gently caress his scarred face as he slept? Would you look to him with loyalty and devotion as you always did? The thoughts that mingle overtake Zoro's senses as he scolds himself for the doubt that gathers despite his loyalty and his belief in you.
You would be strong, you would be safe, you would love him as you always did.
Reassurances tried to drown his doubts, and they worked for a moment, until his sharp eye caught a glimpse of [h/c] hair and [e/c] eyes, and something in Zoro broke and caught life all at the same time. And you saw him, and you smiled at his wandering state, and you knew that was the man you missed for so long.
"Zoro!!"
Zoro doesn't get a chance to catch a breath or take in your form or relish in your beauty until you've run to him so quickly that he stumbles when you gather at his chest. However, when he looks down and catches your eyes and the way you grin wide and full of love, he finds himself finally relaxing beneath your touch. Finally, the tension he didn't even know had gathered in the two years apart came undone, and he feels your softness, your gentleness, your joy.
"Wait, what happened to your eye?!"
Zoro panics when he sees your bright smile waver and a frown gather on your face. Your joy soon turns to worry as hands reach out to the scar that travels to his left cheek, and your brows furrow in upset. Heart hammering at your gentle touch, face flushing at the glimmer in your eyes, and your concentration, he tries to calm his racing heart, untrained after too long without you. A calloused hand reaches out, catching the one that caresses his face.
"You worry too much"
His words are low, heat gathering at your own face when you look up and see him looking at you, with a softness and a care he hadn't encompassed in two years. God, he missed you. Missed the sensation of comfort you elicit just by being there. And despite never being one for words, and even in the crowded street, Zoro pulls you back into an embrace that has you surprised.
"I missed you"
His words catch an edge of emotion, and you smile against his chest, safe, warm and together again.
"I missed you, too, Zoro"
Pulling apart only to catch your lips in a brief, blissful kiss, your heart feels so full as you relent to his being and to his love. And in that moment, Zoro knows, and he pledges to himself that you were the woman he won't let go of, never again. Never again did he want to feel the uncertainty of your fate, eons apart. Never did he want to forget your comfort, and your gentleness and your love.

luffy x reader + law x reader + kid x reader
a/n: bestie that’s not a love triangle, that’s a love quadrangle lmao. jokes apart, I ended up making it a bit too platonic and about you joining their crew, but I hope you’ll like it anyway.

The war for Wano is over.
Kaido has fallen. Orochi is dead. The Beasts Pirates have been crushed.
And yet, despite the celebrations, the laughter, and the cries of victory in the Flower Capital, you stand apart alone, as you’re used to.
The battlefield still writhes with shadows. Black, eerie figures kneel at your feet, remnants of those you’ve slain, now bound to your will.
Your power grants you dominion over the dead. Every opponent you cut down becomes yours, their shadows shackled to you in eternal servitude.
Some call you a monster. Others call you a deity of war. Either way, they fear you.
And that’s why the three most dangerous men alive are now fighting over you.
“Oi! There you are!”
Luffy’s voice rings across the ruined battlefield, his footsteps loud as he runs up to you. His grin is as bright as ever, completely unaffected by the haunting army of shadows still lurking behind you.
“That was so cool!” he says, eyes practically sparkling “You should totally join my crew!”
You blink “What?”
“You’re strong! And awesome! And you’d love the Sunny!” Luffy laughs “I bet you and Zoro would get along!”
You tilt your head. He’s serious.
Before you can answer...
“Tch. Move it, Straw Hat.”
Boots stomp onto the cracked ground. Kid.
His crimson eyes burn with something like admiration but it’s buried beneath his usual arrogance.
“You’re not actually considering that dumbass, are you?” He folds his arms, metal arm gleaming under the moonlight “You belong with a real crew… mine.”
You smirk “You mean a ship full of lunatics?”
Kid’s grin widens “Exactly, you’re obviously one of us.”
Before you can respond—
“You two never shut up.”
The voice is calm, sharp. Surgical.
Law steps forward, hands in his coat pockets, golden eyes locked onto you. Unlike the others, he doesn’t demand or taunt.
He simply says “You’re not looking for chaos. You’re not looking for a crew of idiots fighting over scraps. You’re looking for something bigger.” His gaze sharpens “Join me, and I’ll give you exactly that.”
The air tightens. The unspoken challenge crackles like thunder.
Luffy’s grin never fades “I’m not losing to either of you.”
Kid scoffs “Like hell you aren’t.”
Law just smirks “We’ll see.”
You exhale. They’re serious.
Three captains. Three paths.
You sigh, crossing your arms as you watch Luffy, Kid, and Law glare at each other, their presence crackling like lightning in the air.
“You guys do realize,” you deadpan, “that I never said I was joining any of you? You all know I’m a lonely pirate and somehow I already have my crew…”
Luffy ignores you “They’re all shadows… Join my crew, Y/N!” he says, grinning ear to ear “We’re all super strong! And we have a cook who makes the best food ever!”
Kid scoffs “You think food is what’s gonna convince them, Straw Hat?” He turns to you, crimson eyes gleaming “You’re wasted with these idiots. With me, you’d have the strongest crew on the seas. No one could touch us. And admit it, your powers fit us.”
Law sighs, rubbing his temple like he’s already exhausted by both of them “You two are insufferable.” He looks at you, his golden eyes sharp and calculating “You don’t need chaos. You don’t need a circus act. You need something real. Join me, and I’ll give you exactly that.”
You blink at them. They’re serious.
You already knew that Luffy was stubborn as hell, Kid was relentless, and Law was dangerous in the quietest ways, but you didn’t think they’d actually fight over you.
Your silence seems to fuel the fire.
“What can you even offer them, Trafalgar?” Kid sneers, cracking his knuckles “A crew full of weaklings?”
“I have a submarine” Law says coolly.
Luffy pauses “…That’s actually kind of cool. But the Sunny is way cooler! And we have the best musician ever! Do you guys even have music on your ships?”
You exhale through your nose “You guys do realize you’re treating me like a damn prize, right?”
Luffy blinks “Huh?”
Law sighs “That’s not what this is.”
Kid smirks “I mean, it kinda is.”
The ground shakes as your shadows shift, the weight of your power pressing down on the air “You’re acting like I’m just gonna follow one of you like a lost puppy.”
Kid grins “Wouldn’t say no to that.”
Before you can reply, a new voice cuts in.
“Oi! What the hell is going on here? We thought you were killing each other.”
You glance over to see Zoro, Killer, and Bepo approaching, the rest of their respective crews trailing behind them. Nami, Sanji, and Usopp are already watching from a distance, curiosity burning in their eyes. Heat and Wire stand near Killer, arms crossed. Shachi and Penguin exchange glances, whispering to each other.
It’s clear that the entire alliance has noticed the brewing tension.
“What is this, some kind of territory dispute?” Zoro grumbles, adjusting his swords.
“Oh, it’s worse,” Sanji says, lighting a cigarette “They’re fighting over y/n.”
Zoro pauses “Wait, seriously?”
“Seems like” Nami confirms.
Bepo looks at Law, confused “Captain, what’s happening?”
“Nothing” Law says flatly.
Killer sighs “Eustass-ya, this is ridiculous.”
Kid waves him off “Shut up, Killer. I’m working.”
“Working?” You narrow your eyes.
Kid shrugs, smirking “I like collecting powerful things.”
Luffy snorts “Well, I like collecting friends!”
Law rubs his temples again, clearly regretting everything.
Sanji exhales a plume of smoke “Well, well. What an interesting little mess.” as he eyes you with a smirk.
Your shadows ripple violently.
“Absolutely not.”
The temperature seems to drop as your aura expands. Even the wind seems to hold its breath.
The crews tense. They’ve seen you fight. They’ve seen the horrors your power can unleash.
Kid whistles, impressed “Damn. I like that.”
Luffy grins, unfazed “Your powers are so cool!”
Law watches you closely. Too closely. His golden eyes see more than you want him to.
You exhale “I don’t take orders from anyone. Not you. Not the World Government. Not anyone.”
Kid smirks “Then what do you want?”
You hesitate.
Because the truth is that you don’t know.
Luffy steps closer, eyes bright with something honest “You wanna see the world with us?”
Kid leans in, voice dropping into something dangerous “Or do you wanna rule it?”
Law, ever the strategist, doesn’t ask. He just looks at you and says “You’re searching for something. I can help you find it.”
The weight of their offers settles over you like a storm.
And for the first time in a long time you feel something real.
Luffy’s grin softens “You’d be awesome on the Sunny!”
Kid scoffs “Or you could actually be on a ship worthy of your strength.”
Law sighs, tilting his head slightly “You’re both exhausting.” But his eyes flick back to you, and for a second you see something intense.
They’re not letting this go.
“Yeesh, are they flirting or fighting?” Nami mutters.
Usopp stares “I… honestly can’t tell.”
Killer just sighs “Both.”
Heat nudges Wire “Should we start taking bets?”
Sanji exhales, watching you closely “Lucky bastards.”
You ignore them all, looking at the three captains in front of you. You’re not stupid, you know this isn’t just about power anymore.
It’s about you.
Kid steps closer, voice dropping just for you “You’re different.” His crimson eyes glint with something hungry “You’re not scared of me. You’re not scared of anything, are you?”
You smirk “Should I be?”
His grin stretches wider “I’d like to see you try.”
Luffy, still smiling, grabs your wrist. His fingers are warm, rough from battle and adventure, but there’s nothing forceful in the way he holds you. It’s just excited, unfiltered emotion.
“You’d have so much fun with us, y/n!” He leans in, voice almost giddy “I wanna show you the whole world!”
Your heart skips. Just a little.
Then a hand grabs Luffy’s wrist, yanking it off of you.
Law.
His touch is cool, precise, almost possessive. He doesn’t say anything, just stares at Luffy, then at you. There’s something undeniably sharp in his gaze now.
Something dangerous.
“Don’t touch them so casually” he says. His voice is low.
Luffy just tilts his head “Huh? Why not?”
Law doesn’t answer.
Kid watches, then laughs “Holy shit. You’re jealous.”
Law ignores him, eyes still locked on you “This isn’t a game.” His voice is quieter now “Not for me.”
And for once, you don’t know what to say.
The air feels heavier now, not from battle, but from something far more dangerous.
This isn’t just about alliances anymore.
This is a chase.
The weight of their gazes presses in. Too much.
You exhale slowly, rolling your shoulders back. The shadows one by one sink into the ground, vanishing like ink in water, back to where they belong.
The battlefield is quiet.
Kid watches with sharp interest “Tch. Even your Devil Fruit is showy.”
Luffy tilts his head, blinking “Huh? Where’d they go?”
Law doesn’t speak, just watches you with that calculating gaze, as if he’s trying to figure out what you’re thinking.
But you don’t give them the chance.
You turn on your heel and walk away.
Not a word.
Not an explanation.
Just silence.
The festival in the Flower Capital is alive with laughter, music, and sake. People are celebrating, embracing their long-awaited freedom.
The people of Wano don’t know you like they know the others. You’re not a Straw Hat, not a Heart Pirate, not part of Kid’s crew. You’re just a shadow passing through their victory.
It should be freeing.
It isn’t.
You settle against a wooden post near a quieter part of the town, eyes drifting up to the lanterns lighting up the sky. The night is warm, the air thick with the scent of grilled food and spilled alcohol. Somewhere in the distance, you can hear Brook playing music, the faint sound of Luffy laughing, the chaotic voices of pirates and samurai alike.
And yet, you’re alone.
Just how you like it.
…Right?
“You’re hard to find.”
The voice is low, familiar.
You don’t have to turn around to know who it is. Trafalgar Law.
He steps beside you, hands tucked in his coat pockets, golden eyes flicking toward yours. His expression is unreadable, but there’s something different in the way he’s looking at you. Something unspoken.
You don’t acknowledge him right away. Just sip from the drink you swiped earlier.
“You followed me?”
Law doesn’t deny it “You left without saying anything.”
“You guys were annoying me.”
He exhales through his nose, amused “I figured.”
Silence stretches between you, comfortable but heavy. The festival noise hums in the background, but this moment feels separate from all of it.
After a beat, Law speaks again.
“You’re not staying, are you?”
“Would that disappoint you?”
Law’s gaze sharpens, but not with irritation, but something deeper.
“I don’t like wasting my time,” he murmurs “And I don’t chase things I can’t keep.”
Your heartbeat stumbles.
A challenge. A warning. A confession. Maybe all three.
For the first time in a long time, you don’t know what to say, and Law notices.
Your grip tightens around your cup, but you force yourself to keep your expression neutral “That so?”
Law doesn’t answer right away. He just watches you, too closely, as if he’s already mapping out every possible move you could make. Then he tilts his head slightly.
“You don’t run from battles.” His voice is smooth, steady “But you walked away from us.”
You scoff “Don’t tell me you took that personally.”
He exhales through his nose “I don’t take things personally. I just like to understand what I’m dealing with.” His golden eyes flick to yours, sharp, unreadable “And you? You’re an enigma.”
A small smirk tugs at your lips “Flattery, Trafalgar?”
“Observation.”
The weight of his gaze lingers. Heavy. And something about it, about him, unsettles you in a way you don’t want to acknowledge. Because he’s right.
You don’t walk away from fights. You don’t back down from challenges. But something about them, about this whole mess, made you leave.
Before you can respond, a loud, familiar voice cuts through the air.
“There you are!”
Footsteps. Heavy boots against wood.
Kid.
He stomps over, crimson eyes flicking between you and Law, his lip curling “The hell is this?”
You raise a brow “A conversation?”
Kid huffs, rolling his shoulders like he’s shaking off some irritation “Didn’t think you were the type to have quiet conversations.”
Law clicks his tongue “And I didn’t think you were the type to go looking for someone who left without a word.”
Kid’s eyes darken “Tch. You think I give a damn if they left? I just don’t like loose ends.”
But the way his gaze lingers on you says otherwise.
You sigh, rubbing your temple. This is exactly what you wanted to avoid “Why are you two even here?”
Kid folds his arms “Maybe I don’t like being ignored.”
Law hums “Needy.”
“Shut the hell up, Trafalgar.”
You sigh “You’re both ridiculous.”
Kid leans against the post next to you, his smirk sharp “Maybe. But you didn’t answer the question.”
You glance at him “What question?”
He tilts his head, watching you like a predator watching its prey “Are you staying?”
The air between you tightens.
You could lie and tell them exactly what they want to hear, but you don’t answer at all. And this silence is what gets them.
Kid’s smirk twitches, like he doesn’t like not knowing. Law’s fingers flex at his sides, like he wants to dissect every inch of your thoughts.
And just when you think you might finally get some peace a familiar laugh echoes.
Luffy.
He lands in front of you, grinning like he hasn’t just dropped into the middle of something tense.
“Oi, y/n!” His grin stretches wide, his eyes shining “I’ve been looking for you!”
Of course he has. Of course they all have.
Luffy's wide eyes flick between you, Law, and Kid and he doesn’t miss a thing.
“Eh? You guys are here too?”
Kid rolls his eyes “No shit.”
Law sighs, rubbing his temple “Straw Hat-ya, this really isn’t—”
But Luffy’s already stepping into your space. Closer than the others. Closer than anyone should be.
His warm fingers brush against your wrist, tugging lightly but not pulling, not forcing.
“You left before the party started,” he says, pouting “I wanted to drink with you.”
His voice isn’t demanding. It’s something worse... soft.
Unfiltered. Real.
Your pulse skips just for a second. And from the way Law tenses and Kid narrows his eyes, you know they notice.
You don’t pull away, but you don’t answer either.
Luffy tilts his head “Are you mad?”
You blink “Why would I be mad?”
He shrugs “Dunno. Maybe ‘cause we wouldn’t stop arguing in front of you.”
Kid scoffs “You mean because you wouldn’t shut up?”
Luffy grins “Well, yeah.”
Law exhales, voice flat “Straw Hat-ya, you’re not helping.”
But Luffy doesn’t care. He never does. He just looks at you, his fingers still wrapped around your wrist.
“You didn’t answer Kid’s question” he says.
You freeze. Of course he noticed.
Kid shifts beside you, arms crossed, eyes burning “Yeah, y/n. You staying or not?”
Law watches you, calculating, unreadable.
The festival noise fades. It’s just them. Just this. And you still don’t answer. Not because you don’t know, but because they all want different things.
Kid wants power. A challenge. Someone who doesn’t bend to him but still stands beside him. And you can give him that.
Law wants strategy. Precision. Someone he can trust, someone who understands things without needing to say them. And, angain, you can give him that.
Luffy just...
Luffy just wants you as you.
Not for your strength. Not for your Devil Fruit.
Just because you’re you.
And that’s the scariest thing of them all to you.
So instead of answering, you finally pull your hand back.
“I’m going to get a drink” you say simply.
Then you walk away, again. And this time none of them stop you.
Your boots move over the worn wooden planks of the street, but your mind lingers on the moment you pulled away. On the way they looked at you. You grip the sake bottle you swiped from a distracted vendor, your fingers pressing just a little too tightly around it. You shouldn’t care and yet... Footsteps. You don’t turn. You don’t have to. “I thought I told you I was getting a drink” you murmur. A low chuckle. Rough, amused. “Didn’t say I wasn’t getting one too.” Kid. Of course. You glance over your shoulder. He’s close.
Crimson eyes gleaming, coat still torn from battle, his usual sneer replaced with something slower, something that lingers. He’s looking at you like you’re his favorite fight.
You sigh, raising the bottle to your lips “What, afraid I’ll disappear?”
Kid’s smirk sharpens “I don’t get afraid.”
You swallow, letting the warmth of the sake burn down your throat “Could’ve fooled me.”
His grin widens “Tch. You wish.”
You should tell him to leave but you don’t. Because despite the way Kid is all sharp edges, all arrogance, all chaos, he’s also the one who followed. The one who didn’t let you slip into the night alone.
“Where the hell do you think you’re running off to, anyway?” he asks.
You tilt your head, watching him “Who says I’m running?”
Kid scoffs “Please. You didn’t just walk away. You walked the hell out.”
You hum, taking another slow sip “And yet, here you are.”
His smirk doesn’t fade “Damn right.”
“You’re different from them” he mutters.
You raise a brow “Them?”
His eyes flick back to where Law and Luffy were.
“They don’t get you like I do.” His voice drops just slightly, lower, rougher “You don’t play nice. You don’t follow. And you sure as hell don’t belong on a crew that treats life like a damn adventure story.”
You exhale, tapping the bottle against your thigh “That why you’re here?”
Kid takes another step closer, his voice a challenge and a promise all at once.
“I’m here ‘cause you don’t belong to anyone, y/n...”
His grin turns sharp.
“...but you could stand beside me. And you know that.”
A challenge. A temptation. And a mistake.
Because before you can answer, another voice cuts in.
“You don’t decide that for them.”
Kid turns, scowling, just as Law steps into the light.
You exhale through your nose “Figures you’d show up next. You all won't give up until I make a choice, will you?”
Law doesn’t deny it “Because you keep walking away” His voice is level “But you didn’t leave.”
Kid scoffs “Oh, for fuck’s sake!”
But Law ignores him. He steps closer, close enough that the air between you shifts. His voice is quieter now, meant only for you.
“If you were really leaving, you would’ve been gone by now.”
You grip the bottle tighter “And what if I just wanted a damn drink in peace?”
“Then you wouldn’t have let him follow.”
Your pulse stumbles. Kid’s jaw clenches, but before he can snap back, a familiar warmth crashes into you.
Luffy.
Arms wrapping around you like it’s the most natural thing in the world, his laugh bright, unbothered by the tension thick enough to cut with a blade.
“There you are!” He pulls back just enough to grin up at you “I knew you weren’t really leaving yet!”
You blink “What makes you so sure?”
Luffy tilts his head, confused by the question itself “Because you didn’t say goodbye.”
The simplicity of it hits harder than it should, because he’s right. You didn’t.
Law’s eyes darken, but he doesn’t look away from you “You’re still deciding.”
Kid’s jaw ticks “Tch. Just say it already.”
Luffy just waits, still smiling. Because he already knows.
And suddenly, you realize that so do you.
You inhale. Exhale. And then you turn.
Not to Kid.
Not to Law.
But to Luffy.
His eyes widen slightly, his fingers twitching against your sleeve “Eh?”
Your lips curl into a smirk “Took you long enough to find me, though”
Then he jumps with joy, hugs you tightly and kiss you on the cheek, which shocks you.
Luffy’s arms still wrapping tight around you like he never wants to let go.
Kid curses loudly, wheeling around to storm off, shoving a stunned passerby out of his way “You’ve gotta be fucking kidding me.”
Law sighs heavily, running a hand down his face “Honestly.” But there’s no real bitterness in his voice, just understanding. Because they both saw it before you did.
You were never meant to follow. Never meant to stand beside them.
You were meant to run wild and free, with the only captain who never wanted to tame you in the first place.
Luffy pulls back, beaming, his hands still tight around you “So that means you’re coming with me, right?”
“As if you’d let me go.”
He grins.
“Never.”

fuck being a pirate being a reporter in the one piece world must be the funniest fucking job ever. one day you're writing about how apple harvest in appleton village is bad this year and another day the headlines is local warlord and king of dressrosa actually runs the black market and makes his people into toys if they don't listen to him. new navy admiral is doing a live apology video for ruining the life of thousands of people. yeah apparently a teenager who wears flipflops and jorts saved them by sucker punching a WARLORD in the face. yeah he escaped. yeah the government wants to kill him because he ended slavery and saved a country. yeah this is not the first time he has done this. how the fuck is he still alive.

Monkey D. Luffy ~ !! Invisible Blanket Game!
Tumblr media
context: It’s cold, and you’re shivering. Luffy wraps his arms around you like a blanket and declares, “I’m your warmth now!” He refuses to let go—even when you try to move, giggling.
warnings: none but it's so fluffy you might get cavities.
masterlist and rules || have fun reading!
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
It was freezing on the Sunny—well, freezing by your standards.
The sea breeze had a sharp bite, and even layered up in a thick sweater and fuzzy socks.
You were still visibly shivering as you curled up on a deck chair, legs tucked underneath you like a shivering dumpling.
Luffy noticed immediately.
He’d been leaning lazily over the railing, staring at the sea with his usual dreamy grin, when his eyes caught the way your shoulders trembled.
“Hey! You cold?” he called out, perking up.
You glanced over and gave a little shrug. “Kinda. But I’ll be okay—”
Before you could finish, Luffy launched himself across the deck like a human blanket missile.
He dropped behind you, arms instantly wrapping around your torso like he was staking a claim.
“LUFFY?!” you yelped.
“I’m your warmth now!” he declared proudly, chin resting on your shoulder as his arms clung snugly around your middle. “Blanket power… activate!”
Your eyes widened. “That’s not how blankets work!”
“It is if it’s the Invisible Blanket Game!” he chirped, tightening his grip. “Rule one: once I wrap around you, you can’t move unless I say so!"
You squirmed a little, trying to sit upright, but he stuck to you like glue. “Luffy, I need to—my tea’s right there—!”
“I gotcha.” His arm stretched absurdly across the deck, fingers curling around the handle of your mug like it was no big deal. He reeled it in and held it delicately to your lips. “Say ahh.”
You burst into laughter, nearly snorting your tea. “You’re ridiculous.”
“But you’re warm now, right?” he said smugly, snuggling even closer. His cheek squished against your own, soft and warm.
“…Yeah,” you mumbled, cheeks warming in spite of yourself. “You’re like a heater.”
He grinned. “See? I told you—I’m the best blanket.”
You slowly relaxed in his embrace, the rise and fall of his chest soothing, the heat of his body seeping into your chilled bones.
Every so often, he’d nuzzle your ear or press the tip of his nose against your cheek, just to make you squeak and giggle again.
He lived for it.
“Okay,” you admitted, head tipping back slightly to rest against him, “this is actually nice.”
Luffy beamed. “Told ya. Blanket Luffy never fails.”
After a while, your arms moved to rest gently over his. “I should probably go inside, though… get under an actual blanket.”
“NOPE.” His hold tightened like a clingy koala. “Blanket rule two: no escaping. You’re not going anywhere.”
“Luffy!”
“Shhhh,” he hushed, gently rocking you side to side like a boat. “You’re warm, I’m warm. It’s perfect. Blanket and human become one.”
You rolled your eyes, but you were laughing. “You’re gonna fall asleep on me.”
“Good,” he said dreamily. “Then you really can’t move."
You let out a soft sigh, amused and completely resigned to your fate.
His breath tickled your neck, his heartbeat steady against your back.
You could feel him starting to get drowsy, his grip loosening just a little, his voice slurring at the edges.
And honestly?
You didn’t want to move anyway.
So you stayed there, wrapped up in the silliest, warmest embrace on the sea, while the cold wind howled around the ship and Luffy—your living heater and self-declared best blanket—snored gently against your shoulder.
And for a moment, everything was perfect.

Hi Miko, I've been reading your one piece posts and absolutely love how you write the characters! I loved your oblivious reader headcanons, but I wanted to request kind of the opposite - how would Luffy, Sanji and Zoro react to a reader that makes the first move and kisses them first? Thank you 🥰💕

— LUFFY
Luffy is so straight forward that a lot of flirting just goes right over his head. You could be batting your eyelashes, throwing hints, or playfully touching his arm, and he'd just grin at you, not having a second thought.
He's naturally touchy with his crew, so when you start getting more physically affectionate, he just kinda rolls with it. Leaning on him? He'll lean right back. Holding his hand? He'll swing it playfully.
The realization hits... Late. You make a habit of teasing him, leaning in close when you talk, poking his face when he pouts, and even calling him cute. After a lot of punches from Nami and disappointed sighs from Usopp, he tilts his head and just goes "Are you flirting with me?"
Luffy starts leaning in close, just to see if you'll back away, and he literally COPIES your every move.
"Does this make your heart race too?" In the most innocent way possible.
You think he's immune to embarrassment, until you pull a bold move and trace his jaw with your fingers. "I bet you'd taste sweet." He actually pauses, eyes wide, and a faint pink tint covering the tip of his ears.
When you finally go in for the kiss, you catch him mid laugh. His eyes widen, and probably for the first time ever, he's speechless. Luffy, the king of energy, is frozen like a statue.
His hand almost instinctively catches your waist, holding you close. You pull back, watching his expression shift from shock, to realization, to a big, goofy grin.
"Do it again!" He doesn't even hesitate before grabbing your face and closing the distance again, kissing you back. Zero hesitation.
After this, he just kisses you whenever he feels like it. Mid conversation? Smooch. Stealing food? Smooch. Looking at him funny? Smooch.
He literally tells the whole crew. No warning, no build up. Just a proud declaration while you stand there, face buried in your hands.
You belong to his crew, but now you're his in a way that makes him extra protective. He wraps his arms around you randomly, pulling you close, his stupid, big grin plastered on his face.
He starts challenging you to kiss attacks. If you surprise him, you win. If he catches you trying, he flips it on you.
Luffy doesn't get embarrassed easily, but he does get attached. Expect him to be glued to your side, smiling like you're the best treasure in the world.
There's no overthinking with Luffy, he just likes being with you, loves that your bold, and will 100% support more surprise kisses in the future.
———☆
You're sitting on the deck with Luffy, sharing a plate of snacks, when you decide you've had enough of his cluelessness. He's laughing about something, something dumb, something that shouldn't make your heart race.
So, without a second thought you lean in and close the distance, pressing a firm kiss to his lips. It's quick, but it's just enough to make Luffy's breath hitch and heartbeat increase.
Luffy blinks at you, his usual bright eyes wide in surprise. He's touching his lips like he's processing the sensation for the first time. Then, slowly, a huge grin spreads across his face.
"Whoa!" He lets out a shaky exhale, and then he grabs your hands, bouncing excitedly. "Do it again!"
"Maybe later." You laugh, shaking your head. He was getting so excited over a simple kiss, and you couldn't help but feel your heart skip a beat at the way his touch felt on your skin.
"Later?! But I wanna do it now!" He doesn't wait, just leans in and captures your lips in another quick, excited kiss. Now, you're the one blushing.
— ZORO
Flirting with Zoro is like flirting with a wall, at least at first. He doesn't react to subtle touches, teasing smirks or even playful winks. He just raises an eyebrow like, What are you doing?
"You're acting weird." You lean in, fingers trailing over his wrist as he tenses, although not pulling away. "I'm just being friendly." "That doesn't feel friendly..."
The moment he does realize you're flirting with him, he goes completely still. His grip on his swords tighten. He legit looks like he just got challenged to a duel.
"Tch, like I care." But then he starts noticing everything. The way you look at him, the way your hand when you pass him something, the way you bite your lip when you tease him.
Zoro acts all cool, but inside? His heart is beating faster, and he doesn't know why. Literally internal panic.
One day, you brush your fingers along his jaw. "I bet you'd look good, all flustered and blushing." He visibly stiffens, eyes darting away. "Shut up." Oh, so he can get flustered.
You finally go for it, grabbing his collar and closing the gap, pulling him in for a kiss. He doesn't react at first, he's too shocked to move a muscle. Then, his hands grip your waist, pulling you just a little closer.
He's not as unaffected as he pretends to be. He exhales slowly, his breathing controlled. But you can feel the slight shake in it, the way his hands tremble slightly and the way his muscles tense.
Zoro pretends it's no big deal, but later, he tilts your chin up and kisses you again. Slower, deeper, like he's trying to memorize the feeling of your lips on his.
He's not big on PDA, but his protective streak triples. Arm around your waist? Always. Pulling you close when someone stares too long? Every time.
He doesn't say sweet things, but his actions scream it.
He still gets caught off guard when you tease him. A kiss on the cheek, and his ears turn red. Whispering something flirty, and his jaw tightens.
Zoro likes a challenge, and now that he's aware of you, he starts fighting back. He corners you and smirks if you get flustered.
He will DIE before admitting how much he likes it.
———☆
Zoro is training, sweat glistening on his skin, swords balanced in a way that makes him look damn near untouchable. You've been teasing him all day, dropping little hints, getting close... But he's been brushing you off, pretending it has no effect on him. Until now.
You walk up to him casually, hiding your smug smirk, standing just close enough for him to feel your presence. "Bet I could throw you off balance."
"Tch, you wish." He fights the urge to roll his eyes, the way his words came out was almost as if he was daring you to try.
Your smirk widens as you step closer to him. Before he could react, you grip his collar, tug him down, lips colliding into each other as you press a confident kiss on his lips.
He freezes. His whole body tenses like he's been struck by lightning. When you pull away, his breath is heavier, and there's a slight pink tint decorating his cheeks.
He glares at you, the grip on his swords tightening. "That was dirty..." He mutters, still trying to calm himself down.
You tilt your head to the side, still smirking. "Did it work?" You taunt him, trying to hold back your laugh, watching his flustered expression carefully.
Zoro exhales slowly, before grabbing your wrist, yanking you back in for another kiss. His lips crashed against yours, and you could feel his smirk pressing against your mouth. This one's deeper, hungrier. When he finally pulls back, a smirk forms on his lips.
"Yeah. It worked."
— SANJI
Sanji flirts with everyone, but when you do it back? He's done for. He's absolutely weak from the start. He nearly drops his cigarette every time you touch him.
"What's wrong, sweetheart? Cat got your tongue?" And he instantly covers his mouth, trying to hide his nosebleed and the way his face turns 50 different shades of red. He short circuits instantly.
He flirts dramatically, and you flirt right back, leaning in close, tracing his jaw, calling him pet names. His whole face BURNS.
You catch him off guard with a soft touch to his cheek, and his whole face erupts in pink. "M-Mademoiselle!"
When you finally kiss him first, his soul leaves his body. His cigarette falls, his legs turn weak, and he grips onto you for dear life.
The moment your lips touch his, Sanji's entire body locks up. His heart is hammering, and his mind is screaming in ten different languages. His brain kinda goes offline for a few seconds, but he'll snap out of it eventually!!
He covers his face with both hands, trying to suppress the absolutely ridiculous grin forming. "Mon Dieu! You're too much for me..." And his legs wobble like he might pass out.
His hands remain on your waist, but he doesn't pull you in, not yet. He wants to play it cool, but his flushed face and trembling hands give it away.
For the next hour, he is completely useless in the kitchen. He keeps chopping ingredients wrong, spacing out and giggling like an absolute fool. When someone asks what's wrong, his only reply is "I've been blessed by an angel today."
After the kiss, he becomes extra aware of your presence. A simple brush of your fingers sends a shiver down his spine. If you just lean against him, he has to take deep breaths.
The next time you tease him, he gets his revenge, tilting your chin up with his fingers and giving you the slowest, most knee weakening kiss of your life. "Two can play this game, mon amour."
Before, he was a hopeless romantic. Now? He's a hopelessly attached romantic. "Oh, you like me?" You tease, and you see the way his lips curl into a smirk. "Like? Darling, I adore you."
He was already treating you like royalty, but now it's way worse. Pulling out your chair, offering you the best cuts off food, whispering sweet nothings into your ear 24/7. It's endless.
You kiss him unexpectedly? He still gets heart eyes, but now he pulls you right back for another. "Don't start something you're not ready to finish, darling."
Completely, utterly, shamelessly yours. Sanji doesn't even try to hide it, he's absolutely whipped. He lets everyone know, the whole crew has to deal with it.
———☆
Sanji is flirting with you as usual, leaning close and murmuring sweet things. "Ah, ma chérie, if you keep looking at me like that, I might fall apart."
You rolled your eyes, a mischievous smirk forming on your lips. You grabbed his tie, fingers twisting in the fabric, yanking him down with a sudden tug. He stumbled slightly, cut off guard, but there was no time to react. Your lips crashed against his, the space between you vanishing as you pressed your body flush against his, tilting your head and deepening the kiss. His breath hitched as his hands instinctively found your waist, pulling you even closer.
Your lips parted just enough to tease, to taste. Your fingers slid up from his tie to tangle in his hair, nails grazing his scalp as you pulled him in, not letting go.
You finally parted from him, just barely, lips still hovering close and over each other. He's completely frozen. Mouth slightly open, cigarette hanging dangerously close to falling, his eyes wide in surprise, face completely red.
His whole body shakes, and he nearly collapses on the floor. "I can die happy!" He shouts out dramatically, both hands pressed firmly on his chest as he struggles to breathe.
Later, when he finally recovers, he pulls you aside, trapping you against the wall, kissing you so deep it leaves you breathless.
"Not so easy when I'm the one taking control, hm, mon amour?"
