Favorite scene because Coriolanus falls in love progressively fast and Lucy Gray obviously is unimpressed and her energy in this scene is very much ā€œnot only do I have to fight for myself but now I have to save this bitch boyā€

So you know that feeling after a while of not seeing someone, you tend to forget their voice and if you don't have a picture of them, you start to forget their face?
I'd like to imagine Snow eventually forgot the sound of Lucy Gray's voice and her lyrics, but it's not as though he was shattered over that. I'm sure one morning he woke up, realized he had completely forgotten "his girl's" face, and he was content, maybe even relieved. Just like how history and the Capitol would forget her, so would he. And that's all he could hope for.
Now, you remember that nostalgic feeling and memories that rush back to you whenever you hear a song that you haven't heard in years? Suddenly, you remember the beat and the lyrics, word for word, like you haven't forgotten at all?
Imagine that, but 65 years later. 65 years and suddenly Snow is thrown for a real fucking loop. The moment he hears Katniss sing the meadow song, it all comes flooding back to him. Unlocking a memory he kept in a vault far from the public eye.
Whether or not Lucy Gray is dead during the events of the 75th Hunger Games, I'm sure she would be laughing at the irony, and her laughter gets picked up by mockingjays. And even though Snow is nowhere near a mockingjay where he sits comfortably in the Capitol... his could definitely still hear it, echoing in the back of his mind. The sound of her voice, haunting him in his sleep and especially while he's awake... 65 years later.
"Be somethin' easy to forget
Oh, you think I'm gone 'cause I left
But I'm in the trees, I'm in the breeze
My footsteps on the ground
You'll see my face in every place
But you can't catch me now
Through wading grass, the months will pass
You'll feel it all around
I'm here, I'm there, I'm everywhere
But you can't catch me now
No, you can't catch me now..."

MY THOUGHTS ON THE HUNGER GAMES: BALLAD OF SONGBIRDS AND SNAKES (MILD SPOILERS)
Tumblr media
First of, let me just start by saying... HOLY SHIT THE MOVIE WAS SUCH AN EMOTIONAL ROLLER COASTER THAT I HAD TO PAUSE TO PROCESS THE SCENE.... and not to mention the details? god I loved that so much!! I love how they depicted the mockingjays and also the plant name being katniss?? LIKE OMG? THE FORESHADOWING OF THE FUTURE?? That's honestly peak imo.
But anyways, I really loved the fact that the protagonist of the prequel was Snow. It makes us, the audience, really know his character and what made him the way he is in the hunger games we know of. Not only that but I also really loved the parallel of Lucy Gray Baird with Katniss Everdeen... honestly, these two might not be related but they're also really similar in a lot of ways as well.
Honestly, before I watched the movie, I was expecting something happened to Lucy and that she died or something and that's how Snow became the person he is today. But as I thought about it further, I began to question as to why he became the way he is? Because if he truly did love Lucy, wouldn't he want to fulfill her wish and end the Hunger Games? Because normally, when someone the MC loves died, wouldn't you try and fulfill the one thing they truly want or become the person they want you to become? By that process, I figured that there was more to them than just life and death situations.
While watching the movie, I was wondering how this guy, who had aspirations and dreams of his own and actually sympathized with people from districts and even became friends with one who came from there, became such a ruthless and narcissistic person, who cares only for himself and power.
And finally, after a lot of thinking and having watched the entire movie, I finally got the answer.... because that's who Snow really is. Yes, he had expectations and passions that he wanted to achieve but think about it thoroughly, why did he have them? It was because he wanted control and authority, but most of all, he wanted power, and that was highlighted at the very end.
Of course knowing him, he got rid of every loose ends he had. He knew he couldn't survive out in the wilderness with Lucy, he wanted to go back to the capital. Even though he did love Lucy, that part of him was much stronger than his love and trust for her, and because of that, he tried to kill her. Trying to get rid of the his last string that was holding him back. Snow hates loose ends and in the movie, the qoute summed it up perfectly as to why he despises it. "It's the things we love most, that destroy us"
I already expected that it would already end in tragedy because the movie is just a prequel and the beginning of hell throughout the 75 years because let's be honest, with already knowing who snow truly is at the end, should we really hope for a happy ending? I don't think so.

Author: betts
Language: English
Rating: Mature
Archive Warnings: Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings
Chapters: 5/5
Summary: ā€œDoes Lucy Gray like you back?ā€ Tigris asked.
Coriolanus hadnā€™t actually considered that. Heā€™d just assumed she didnā€™t and never would. Heā€™d grown up with anything he could ever want given to him instantly, but now everything he wanted was impossibly far out of reach. Lucy Gray was no exception.
Or: Coriolanus is a full-time university student, restaurant server, administrative assistant, and on the weekends he cleans and presses gowns. Occasionally he sleeps. So he really doesn't have time to be giving the weird bartender a ride home every night. And he definitely doesn't have time to become obsessed with her.ā€

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes
I really liked the beginning of the movie.
The parallel between Coriolanus Snow and Lucy Gray Braid.
The building of the Capitol's words, the story about the beginning of the hunger games.
But I did not understand what happened to Coriolanus' father? Why he was killed?
I also wanted to learn more about Coriolanus' mother.
In a way, it's Dean Highbottom would make Coriolanus what he is at the end of the movie, which is terrible. But if he wasn't the one to toy with him, he would never have became what he is.
I was very disappointed by the end of the movie. The last encounter between him and Lucy Gray didn't make any sense at all! Him wanted to kill her. Come on. Not possible at all.
Also, why the guns where in the cabin. That didn't made sense at all.
My theory is that Lucy Gray was pregnant and she didn't want to go back to the Capitol, so that's why she ran away, away from him and from the Capitol.
You can find it in her lyrics:
"Cold and clean, Swirling over my skin, You cloak me. You soak right in, Down to my heart."
He would have been smarter to suggest a Victory tour with Lucy Gray, them together as lovers too. They would be able to live together at least from sometimes.
I cannot wait to read the books.

See? He pulls his head out of his ass and promises to never leave her and they live happily ever after in Twelve and Coriolanus Snow ends up being Katniss and Primā€™s weird great uncle who yells at birds like IT ALL ENDS UP OKAY
(Also canā€™t believe that I havenā€™t posted these on tumblr before but my beautiful snowbaird commissions by the sweet @badsalmonella)

Lucy Gray: Can I ask you for a favor?
Coriolanus: I would literally kill for you, but continue.
Lucy Gray: We need to talk about you starting sentences that way.
