But imagine teenage Jason Todd and Jase (Tim) Fox being friends.

Imagine the degeneracy. Imagine the selflessness. Imagine the coming of age. Imagine the pure unconditional love of two genuine friends who don’t have anyone else. Tim/ Jase the always rich kid that can’t help but feel sympathy to the disenfranchised, to the point he feels drawn to counter culture despite being sheltered from it his whole life. Then Jason who��s just gone from dirt poor to filthy rich over night and he can’t seem to relate to anyone around him anymore. Imagine if they had been friends. Imagine them being absolute menaces at school. They play fight but it just turns into genuine sparing. They race their bikes so fast it gives Lucius an absolute heart attack the first time he sees. Tim is constantly asking to learn fighting moves from Jason, which Bruce isn’t thrilled about but Jason promises not to teach him anything too crazy. They hang out at the library and Jason is the only person who can get Tim to study. Tim is the only person who can get Jason to socialize. They would have joined the recycling club. They would have made police offers cry. They annoy the hell out of their older brothers. Bruce and Lucius make the mistake of leaving them alone at Wayne tower during a board meeting and when they got out the boys had created go carts out of scraps they found in the lab. They’re racing in an empty conference room. They’re in so much trouble. They fight each others dads almost as much as they fight their own. Then when Jason and Bruce start having real issues Tim screams at Bruce and gets banned from the manor. Bruce didn’t actually intend for it to be a permanent thing, but Lucius is so concerned for Tim getting too close to the vigilante stuff he sends him to boarding school. Jason goes to Ethiopia. Tim changes his name to Jase in memorial. They both start down their own warpaths. Years later the two of them meet again only to realize they’ve developed into incompatible people. Childhood friends who can never be close again, not in the way they were.

Lucius would have given Ed so much validation and made work with colleagues fun!

What's more, Lucius would have inevitably still helped Bruce with something, which would have meant that Ed and him could've crossed ways eventually. And we know that Bruce would be fascinated with his knowledge, just wanting to know everything about dead bodies that other children his age shouldn't know.

And who would Ed be to refuse him this knowledge, after all, the kid seems interested and not disturbed, so why not tell him some of his favorite facts?

And just imagine some officer trying to make fun of Ed only for them to be put into their place by a famous billionaire 😂.

I think Ed might have still killed someone though, defending someone (maybe Lucius, who knows?)

But the Riddler would have stopped making fun of Ed's nerdy side, so that's a win 👍

And about the denial of his sexuality...well...👀

I think that if Lucius left Wayne Enterprises for the GCPD earlier (in like season 1) Ed wouldn't have killed anyone.

He's pretty decent at ice skating thanks to the weird work trip ideas people had at Wayne Enterprises. Not that he was naive enough to be close to those sketchy people who were armed with one blade on each foot. No, he stayed close to the border to be able to leave if someone didn't curb their velocity.

So when you two go ice skating, he's good but a steadying hand isn't unwelcome. And he's glad that he wasn't accidentally killed by one of his former colleagues: he loves to do sporty activitied that don't involve criminals.

Unlike some other people, he doesn't pretend to be better at ice skating than he is. It's one of his great qualities: he knows his limits and acts accordingly to avoid accidents, in this case leading to an uninterrupted fun time with you. ⛸️🍵☕️ Lucius held your hand, further away from the brink than at the beginning of your date. Despite trying to look out for people to circumnavigate, his eyes kept flicking back to yours...and then to the ice because woah, maybe he got too distracted by you.

Seeing him so carefree made you smile. He'd told you stories of his work, both at Wayne Enterprises and now at the GCPD, and you were glad he finally had some time away from them. You sighed, the warm air forming a visible puff in the air. Lucius too noticed how cold it was. "Would you like to get something from inside?" You agreed.

Soon your were in the place's restaurant with hot cups on the table. "So, a work trip to the skating rink, what's that like?" Lucius took a sip of his tea. "Everyone suddenly has a great respect for personal space." You gave him a smile. "May I lean into yours?" "Go ahead." First you simple touched his shoulder, then you leaned in, steadily, until you breathed the same air. Your lips met and on cold ice or not, there was a cozy warmth in your chest.

“I will take him, just help us get to her, and I will make sure that he shows up.”

“Perfect, I will call her tonight.” Shuri called Brooklyn Wayne and got sent to voicemail.

“Hey, Brooklyn. It’s Shuri, I need to ask a favor of you. I have Sergeant Barnes with us right now and he needs a replacement prosthetic left arm. Is there any way you could help a girl out here? Anyways, let me know what you can do, miss you. Bye.”  

Shuri got a text later that night that simply asked “Is the arm still with him? Thursday works.” Shuri told Steve to be in Gotham City on Thursday as they had an appointment with Brooklyn and that she had told her that the original arm was lost.

Bucky was nervous about being in a new place, mostly since all of them were still fugitives of the law. Sam was more worried that they were in Justice League territory as Avengers, and they did not get along. However, Shuri trusted Brooklyn. They wanted to help Bucky, so Sam, Steve, and Bucky were going to Wayne Enterprises on a rainy Thursday morning. The three men exited their car when a security guard in the front approached them. 

“You three, come with me, keep your head down. Stark’s been tampering with the security cameras again.” The guard gruffed out. 

Sam’s eyebrows rose at Stark’s boldness in Gotham and that a guard was waiting for them. He knew that the Wayne’s took security very seriously and that they had been waiting on them both comforted and unnerved him. Knowing that Stark was messing with the people he hoped would help him and Bucky, Steve felt on edge. The security guard walked them into the building and down two flights of stairs before stopping in front of a large door and knocking. 

“Come in, Mark.” A voice called out, slightly muffled. 

The trio entered while the guard held the door open and saw Lucius Fox inside a series of rooms connected to the large spacious room. The room had lots of computer screens, bookcases stacked full of books, and tables everywhere. Seating was spread throughout the room, making little sections of the room into cozy areas.  Steve was impressed by how it managed to both look like a lab and a mini library while not giving up any features. Bucky was checking for exits and found that each room had two exits that were visible to him at the entrance which comforted him. 

“Sorry for the guard, but neither Wayne wanted to risk your lives because of Stark’s security theft. Shuri informed us that the arm was lost?” Fox shortly asked, staring at Steve, knowing that they didn’t take the arm, and worried Stark or Hydra could have grabbed it. 

“Yes. It was removed and left behind.” Steve answered calmly, but he did not like the question or the tone.

With a snort and a splutter, Stede raised his head and found Izzy’s eyes with his own tense gaze. Izzy’s own gaze was mild and sincere, the idea of a ceremony and pledging in front of their friends was not abhorrent to him. In fact, he’d also sometimes wondered how it would feel to stand up and publicly celebrate their commitment to each other. Pretty fucking nice probably.

I love these bitches so much. I've finished Gotham now and lemme just say... You know that scene (spoilers for season 5 from here I guess lmao) when Ed breaks into the GCPD and is going through the files, and Lucius catches him and pushes him back with a hand on his chest?? Yeah, I've been thinking about that scene a lot. This list breaks from canon a little bit (as in, it exists in a world where they would realistically date), but oh well. Enjoy :-)

I reckon they're one of those couples where people don't even realise they're dating until something obviously lovey-dovey happens

like, they'll be at a dinner party or something and one of them maybe gets a little too drunk and kisses the other, and everyone else is like "lol that's embarrassing, Lucius and Ed just kissed" and they're like "???yeah??? We've been dating for 3 years now???"

Like, between all the hand holding, and the sharing food and clothes, everyone just thought they were really friendly with each other (but in hindsight they probably should have guessed)

they have nights where they challenge each other at board games all night. Like, they'll cycle through about 15 games in one night, and have an ongoing tally of wins pinned up on the fridge

on their anniversary, they'll buy each other a new game to add to the tournament

predictably, if they ever watch a game show on TV, they'll race to answer the question first (but every now and then, Lucius lets Ed win just to see how excited he gets about it (Ed knows this of course, but he doesn't mind so much when Lucius looks at him like that))

because they're interested in the same sort of subjects, info dumping is always a fun time for both of them (even if it's unrelated, it's still fun)

while Ed's hanging up the washing, he'll listen to Lucius rant about the intricacies and beauty of biomechanics

and then while Lucius is cooking, he'll listen to Ed rant about epigenetics

This happens a lot though, with pretty much anything...

"so they've basically got a ton of chromosomes!! And there's this one fern that has the world record for having the most!! It's called the adder's tongue fern, or Ophioglossum reticulatum, and it has up to 1,440 chromosomes!!! That's way too many!!" "And what was this called again??" "Polyploidy!! Wait, I haven't even started on Oxytricha trifallax yet!! So basically-" *heart eyes*

Ed always forgets to carry his ear defenders around, so Lucius makes sure he has a spare pair in his bag just in case Ed needs them

Lucius likes to tinker with things when he's bored

one time, Ed came home to find him surrounded by a mixture of cogs and screws only to find that he'd taken apart their toaster

"it stopped working..."

"oh, okay!! Can you fix it?"

"Yeah! It was a fairly common problem, all I needed to do was- what? Why are you looking at me like that?"

*absolute heart eyes* "I just love you is all"

there are so many books and papers around their house that it could be mistaken for a library

well, it's like that right up until the moment Ed gets overstimulated by it all, and then Lucius helps him clean it until everywhere is spotless again (this usually happens late at night, leading to the two of them cleaning until 2 AM and they can finally both sleep)

their whole house is a mixture of dark wood and warm colours. It's really lovely when one comes back and can smell a home cooked meal wafting through the corridors. That's when it especially feels like home

They have a coat hanger by the door that is always overflowing with jackets. When it finally fell over, they both had to reevaluate how many coats they actually needed

one time Ed learn how to quilt so he gave Lucius a massive quilted blanket for his birthday. It was big enough to cover their bed and checked with reds and yellows and the occasional dark green. He loved it so much that it became a permanent fixture in their room

in the winter months, when their small flat can't keep out the Gotham cold, they'll bundle under the blankets and hold onto eachother until they fall asleep

there's not really a strict big spoon or little spoon, just two people clinging to eachother in a tangle of limbs

Lucius has one of those alarms where you have to solve a maths equation before it turns off. Normally Ed would love it, but not at 5 AM...

"nghh can you just turn it off already"

"give me a second, this one's a bit challenging... actually, I'm just going to grab some paper quickly-"

"can you at least taKE THE ALARM WITH YOU?!" Ed groans as he rolls over and tries to hide from the noise in his pillow

Lucius likes to go on runs early in the morning. He enjoys the fresh air and lack of people. That and the fact that Ed is only just waking up when he gets back, sleepily kissing him and handing him a warm cup of coffee with the promise of breakfast soon after

That being said, sometimes he'll go to get up for his run only to find Ed curled into his side. It's those mornings when he decides to snooze his alarm and spend another hour or so dozing next to the love of his life

they go on cute dates to their local museum, sometimes checking out the occasional lecture happening there

They enjoy comparing notes afterwards to see what parts each of them found most interesting

But sometimes if the lecture is boring (and it's rare for either of them to find a lecture boring) they'll forgo the academic notes, and instead send messages back and fourth across the desk

Ed always expects Lucius to throw the notes away afterwards, but he keeps them at the back of his notebook

This lecture is kind of boring. He's just ranting about Crayfish?

Yes, it is slightly strange. I think I heard him say something about invasive species, but honestly I drifted off about 10 minutes ago
