I like to think Luigi Mario is not that gullible of a person but this is the same man who got japed by a free mansion, and then got got by the same jape again involving a free hotel visit, was easily convinced to help out some goombas that were talking shit about him right next to him by them just being nice to him, and went "Shiny!" before grabbing the cursed ancient artifact that possesses people.

As much as I love Mr L I wanna see more people talk about that time in Mario Tennis Aces where Luigi turns into an evil “mummy” under the control of an ancient evil tennis racket named Lucien because he touched racket for looking nice and sparkly like the silly silly guy he is😭

It's true that "an ancient evil tennis racket" is hard to say with a straight face, especially when compared to the seriousness of Super Paper Mario, but I agree that Lucien needs further exploration. Mr. L is fun, but that racket has destroyed entire civilizations, and the fact that he's now wielding Luigi of all people as his primary puppet is a great concept.

I particularly like that Mario was Lucien's original target before Luigi got a sudden case of corvid brain and intercepted. (I also like how in the updated cutscene Luigi tried to stop himself when he was told that the racket wasn't for him, but his clumsiness caused him to stumble and grab the racket on accident, kickstarting the plot.) We were so close to getting possessed Mario.

I'm all for that extra hint of guilt Mario must've felt knowing Luigi essentially took the blow for him. Mario was suspicious, but he might've been talked into grabbing the racket if things hadn't happened the way they did.

So... yeah, I think this entire scenario is in need of a one-shot or a drabble or something.

i forget sometimes that people don't know the name because usually its just referred to as "that one fucked up evil tennis racket". also i spelled it wrong unfortunately it's lucien not lucian 😭

in the story/adventure mode of mario tennis aces wario waluigi and luigi all get possessed by an evil tennis racket called lucien with luigi being the like. final boss of the story mode if my memory serves correctly? it mightve gone after bowser after you beat luigi but i dont remember for sure. one of the final bosses at least.

one of the toads also has probably my favourite line in the series referring to luigi during his fight LMFAO

i dont think mario would ever have villain arc in fact i dont think u could even force him to be evil like. when luigi got brainwashed in spm??? that would not have worked on mario. he mightve forgotten his name but he wouldve been as polite as ever. peach getting possessed in ttyd??? nope the shadow queen wouldve just been like "woah thats way too sweet" and disintegrated. in the mario tennis aces story mode if mario had touched lucien first instead of luigi i dont think he would have been corrupted i think he would have just turned lucien good

It's not an active omission, she is just not in any of the Mario games I play, from which I draw my main inspiration for my AUs.

If she were included in the Mario and Luigi RPG series or Luigi's Mansion series, I would probably include her (assuming she plays a significant role in the story).

She was given a bit more of a role in the story mode of Tennis Aces since she actually had dialogue, but I don't have any AUs based around Tennis Aces, THOUGH Lucien is pretty interesting. Who doesn't love Luigi corruption??

And really, if we're being honest, most of what is considered to be her "canon characterization" is from sparse flavor text and fanon. And as I'm not immersed in the Mario fan culture (for my own sanity) Daisy is not a compelling character to me, and I'm tired of having to justify that tbh.

[ Luigi + Lucien, Luicigi! ] [ Luigi Fusion Repost + Cleanup]

A force fusion between Luigi and Villainous Tennis Tacket, Lucien after the events of Mario Tennis Aces in a what if case.

Backstory Info: After Mario Tennis Aces, Lucien latches on to Luigi's arm with his racket tape after the gang of Mario, Peach, and Daisy wins the Lucien Cup. He pretty much ends up not keeping to his word, as he ends up taking two of Mario's power stones with him, giving him even more power to do so.

The gang pretty much needs to find a way to dispose of the last Power Stone before Luigi becomes Lucien's complete vessel for world domination.

A guidance of Mario and the crew named Aster gives helps Mario to prevent Lucien from going any farther with his plans by painfully removing the tape that's already on him to get the tennis racket away from him, which they do somewhat.

The issue is that the racket and the Power Stones won't move but the tape can. But even if Lucien's tennis tape is removed fully, it could most likely harm Luigi by taking him down with Lucien as well. Aster comes up with an idea to break the tennis racket down to the stone holder part, leading Luigi where he is now, with only a knuckle ring of Lucian's power stones acting as the host of this parasite. -

Abilities - Pros and Cons: With Luigi fused with Lucien, his power input has to increase dramatically due to the Power Stones that Lucien holds. It's pretty much just a god mode for Luigi but the downfall is that if he gets to lose in newfound his pride along with Lucien, it will make using Luigi as a vessel way easier for Lucian to take over again.

(Pro) Luigi carries the power that Lucien holds, as it shows from his raw punch power to his boosted speed, pretty much overpowering him at times.

(Pro/Con) His left eye is almost a chunk of Lucien's raw form, as Aster guessed, he might see farther than he normally would in some cases. (Pro/Con) Luigi can mentally communicate with Lucien at any given time, even during slumber.

(Con) If Luigi uses his arm too much that wrapped, he will damage his arm muscles and bones harshly due to the output of power. (Con) Luigi will become more tired than he usually is due to Lucien sucking his energy to use for his own. (Con) Luigi really doesn't know how to control Lucien's power and doubts that he ever can. (Con) Lucien's tape wrap-around is always growing, meaning that Luigi must cut the tape off to prevent Lucien from having possession. (Con) Lucien feeds off of envy, anger, jealousy, and pride, meaning if Luigi feels those said emotions, the control of the tape will grow worse. --- Tape Care: To prevent possible world domination, Aster left Mario and Luigi with a guide to follow by - To the left is an example of Lucien taking energy off of Luigi's emotions, to the right is a calm state.

Of course, if that emotional state to the right grows without treatment onto his torso, that could most likely cause Luigi to enter a limp shock before eventually being taken over by Lucien. If the tape ever does grow across its limit point, it would need to be cut pronto. - But if the tape is cut below the forearm, that will cause Luigi great pain, due to the fact that Lucien fuels the absent muscle in the said arm. - But on the flipside, If the tape reaches above the shoulder, it will be harder to maintain - even becoming thicker. But by cutting off the tape to a level where Luigi is safe and where Lucien is controlled, no problems should arise.

So pretty much, I made this fusion with Lucian and Luigi. And now that I think about it, I don't think a lot of people know Lucian and if you don't that's very understandable. - Lucian is the main villain of Mario Tennis Aces and he's pretty much an evil tennis racket that can possess the people that touch him. - Thus, leading to Luigi getting possessed (and Wairo and Waluigi) Plus, prior to the game plot he possessed the former king of the island and technically wiped him out and his people but for this fusion, it isn't that important. plus, I'm most likely going to make a fanfic of this fusion to clear more stuff up, I just want to get this out for now (if you have any questions, I don't mind you dm'ing me them or just commenting lol)

[ (Con) If Luigi uses his arm too much, he will damage his arm muscles and bones harshly. (Con) Luigi will become more tired than he usually is, even to the point of passing out. (Con) Luigi really doesn't know how to control Lucien's power and doubts that he ever can. (Pro/Con) Luigi can mentally communicate with Lucien, while also getting a clearer voice of him while he sleeps. (Con) Lucien's tape wrap around is always growing, meaning that Luigi must cut the tape off to prevent Lucien from having possession. ]

Lucien's side: After the main stuff happened, Luigi still carried Lucien's possession eye, rending issue with it. The main issue is that Lucien's eye/side is pretty blinded by Luigi's right eyesight, most of the time. The only time was Luigi could maybe have control of Lucien's side is when it's completely dark, leaving a slim chance. Most of the time, Lucien can use his side as a view for himself, as he communicates with Luigi also.

Some scattered thoughts on Mario Tennis Aces

Warning: spoilers ahead

I love that every time any of the characters talk about the stakes, they're like "we've got to save Luigi! ... and the others I guess..." Even in the finale when they're doing a big tennis match to determine the fate of the world, Wario and Waluigi are booed by the crowd while Luigi... despite still being possessed by Lucien... gets cheered for and talked about in a positive light by the announcers.

What's also interesting is that Wario, Waluigi, and Bowser talk and act very much like their normal selves while possessed. They're being manipulated in some part, with Bowser saying that the racket's power makes him "want to control things more than usual," but it's clear Lucien is exploiting preexisting desires. Luigi, however, never says a word, and is fairly expressionless compared to the others. He is not being manipulated so much as he's been entirely robbed of his senses, turned more into a tennis playing puppet than a minion. But if you think about it... that aligns with the goals each of them had that caused them to take hold of Lucien. Wario and Waluigi wanted the power to defeat their enemies in tennis, and were granted that desire to the best of Lucien's abilities. Bowser wanted to take over the world, and Lucien actually went so far as to fuse with him so they could conquer as one entity.

Luigi wanted nothing more than to hold the pretty tennis racket, and for most of the story... at the sacrifice of every other part of him... he got exactly that.
