@lucianasolaria sent : "I was just admiring your gardens. They're beautiful, reminds me of home, of walking in the gardens with my grandmother."
Smiling as she came up to the garden entrance herself, the queen gazed around before turning back to the princess.
"Yes. They're quite peaceful, aren't they? I spent a lot of time here myself when I first came to the palace. Taking care of a garden, at least, was about the only thing that was familiar. I'm glad they can give you a taste of home as well."

@lucianasolaria sent ; "Your kingdom is beautiful."
that was high praise coming from someone who resides in a kingdom as beautiful as corona. but he'd take it. a gracious and appreciative smile adorns eric's face. he's proud of his kingdom and what he's done for it. all the work he's put in to make sure it hadn't been left behind. that it flourished, had grown. and most importantly had continued to reach out to and become allies with neighboring kingdoms.
❛ i'm glad you're enjoying your visit. have you had an opportunity to visit the village marketplace? if you ask me, it's one of the best parts of the kingdom. definitely one of the most fun. ❜

@lucianasolaria sent : "You have a beautiful voice."
Gazing over at the girl, a bright smile filled the princess's face. The young ones always were the sweetest. They hadn't yet been corrupted but the evils of the world.
"Thank you. My mother taught me that song. A very long time ago."

The queen smiled knowingly and nodded. "Well, my husband and I have a little saying. Just because something is what's done doesn't mean it's what should be done. Tradition is important, of course. It reminds us of the places we come from, and the people who made our lives possible. But if tradition hinders progress, or makes people feel as if they can't be themselves, then why should it not be changed? Some things can be made better, and if it can help improve someone's life, then it should be allowed to be possible."
Oh, the many deep talks she and Kit had had on the subject since that day in the glade!
"Oh, we had many! Horses, donkeys, mules, cows, sheep, goats, pigs, ducks, geese, chickens, bees. And all the wild things, of course. Lizards, rabbits, birds. And my dear friendly mice as well. Perhaps tomorrow you and I can go to the house, if you'd like to see it?"

"Oh, yes." Ella nodded gently. "Though, of course, it's far too big for me to do on my own. But I have little plots I look after, and I help the gardeners whenever they need an extra hand."
Most of her effort, though, went into her and Kit's special place. His father had had it built and seeded for Kit's mother, and now she tended it both for her late in-laws and for her husband. The labor of love continued, and the young queen hoped it would for generations to come.
"It's pleasant to get one's hands dirty sometimes. To get outside and breathe freely. Whether it's here in the garden, or in the kitchen right alongside the cooks, it makes me think of my childhood and the farm I grew up on. We had a much more humble garden, along with animals. Very different from the life I live here, but just as much very dear to me."

"A lovely choice!" Ella beamed. "Did you like a particular color best? I find the blue and pink ones especially pretty myself. Though they're all beautiful, so I couldn't fault you if it were impossible to choose."
While she couldn't speak on being raised as a princess, Ella couldn't deny that she saw something of herself in the girl. But maybe it was just the fact that Luciana's golden childhood had yet to dull. And that bright, vibrant, carefree innocence surely touched all girls at some point in their lives. Some, sadly, would lose it all too soon. And that was all the more reason to cherish it in those who held on.
"Oh, no." She chuckled gently. "This one has flowers, trees, and shrubs. It's mostly aesthetic; for a pretty view. But there's one by the south wing of the palace for the kitchens. There's an orchard for fruit, herbs, and vegetables. Would you like to see? Maybe we can find some herbs you don't have at home. That way you can dry them and take them home with you for your mama?"

❛ well, make sure that you do. you can compare how our festivities differ from your home's village. ❜ it would be such a shame if she missed out on visiting the marketplace. he and ariel still made sure to make visits as often as they could. to this day it remained a favorite way to spend time together. ❛ there are so many sights to see and take in. perhaps you can find a souvenir to remember you visit by. i'm sure melody would love to show you around. ❜
❛ ahh, ❜ eric chuckles with a nod. ❛ your father is a wise man. ❜ eric agreed with the sentiment. the crowns, jewels and palaces meant nothing if it weren't for the people of the kingdom. there would be no point to being king if there were no people to rule for. the people are what make up a kingdom, they truly are the heart and soul of it.
"I haven't had the pleasure yet, but I am sure you're right, it's like that in my kingdom too, the villages in Corona are the most lively and fun, especially during festivals." Luciana had grown up visiting the village below the castle with her parents fairly regularly.
"My father says a kingdom's heart isn't the palaces and the crown, it's where the people of the kingdom are."

Ella tilted her head to the side for a moment, considering the question. Of course all the flowers in the garden were beautiful in their own ways.
She was very fond of the roses that grew in her husband's secret alcove. Where they'd gone the night of the ball. But that was their little secret, as it had been his parents' before them.
And, naturally, Ella had her own favorite flower. But it didn't normally grow here, though it was abundant back on her country estate.
"Well, forget-me-nots are my favorite flower. But of the ones that grow here, I think I'd have to say either hyacinths or crocuses. And you, princess?"
