In case y'all are not aware of it, the Vatican (like the Catholic Church Vatican) now has an anime mascot to get young people closer to Christianity.

Here she is:

Her name's Luce and she was made by the guy from Tokidoki. Anyways, here's a picture of the archbishop Rino Fischella that quickly became a pretty big meme in Italy for obvious reasons.

This year the Vatican has a stand at Lucca Comix, which is like one of the biggest conventions in Italy. This whole mascot thing backfired awfully by the way, there's already way too much R34 about her.

First Kill - LESBIAN MAIN CHARACTERS in a classic trope of a monster (vampire) x monster (vampire) hunter forbidden love? The acting, at first, might not have been what I'd call great but I think it was more of the script's fault.

I Am Not Okay with This (gif) - dark, horror, teen, another lesbian main character, cute as hell, cancelled at the worst possible scene.

The Imperfects (gif) - a bit fucked up plot-wise, tbf, but all the more fun for it. Cool twists and abilities. And Rhys Nicholson as Dr. Alex Sarkov is hilarious. Also, a spin on an ace succubus. Lol.

Lockwood & Co. (gif) - the books were the slowest of slow burns and had the least reliable narrator of all time (Luce. I'm looking at you. Anthony Lockwood is also looking at you.) and the TV series chose the protagonists SO WELL 😭 I loved it. I want more. So much more.

Mindhunter - psychology of serial killers, this had SO MUCH potential for a tonne of more content.

Sense8 (gif) - different cultures, action, an evil old white man, explosions, martial arts, gayness, transness, LOVE CONQUERS ALL, BITCHES. Technically, it's finished, but it was rushed.

Shadow & Bone (gif) - wonderful fantasy! Try not to cry, cry a lot.

Spinning Out (gif) - actual believable representation of a mental/neurological illness (bipolar disorder) and stunning figure skating shots?! Cancelling it was a criminal offence

When I mentioned looking at his wings he tensed up his mind was running over all the situations. The only conclusion he could think of is I would leave him.

So he denied it, "don't you think we're kind of busy right now?" He says kind of harshly. I frowned "no your right we are busy" I laughed awkwardly.

Since lucifer wasn't showing his wings maybe I could ask michael for a description.

Michael wasn't keen on the idea of telling me, "come on michael tell me!" I begged. He still said no.

I sat down in a chair right next to sam and dean "hey boys, how's it going?"

They both looked stressed "not good we can't find this crucial piece of information." Sam groans and lays his head on his arms which were folded in front of him on the table.

I frown "can I help some how?" I looked over towards dean but he was shaking his head "nothing you can do kid" I sigh and nod.

Sam and dean had left to go hunt a werewolf that has been eating elderly people. I sat in a chair off to the side in the library so as not to disturb micheal and lucifer, it's the first time they had gotten along without wanting to rip each other's throats out.

I was reading my book, as I was nearing the end of a chapter I could hear whispers. I turned the page to act like I was reading when I was actually listening.

"Just show them!" Michael harshly whispered. I heard a growl and a forced bitter laugh "you know I can't do that." Everything was silent after that.

After a while dean and sam came back, "how did the hunt go?" They smiled and hugged me. "It went really well besides the fact we almost died" dean snorts. I shake my head and nod "I'm glad you both are back in one piece" they release me and back up, my face scrunches up "you smell like a wet dog. Go take a shower."

Once they agreed and started walking towards their rooms I took my leave and started walking towards my room.

I opened my door and almost jumped out of my skin, lucifer was sitting on my bed, and was sweating profusely He looked up and rolled his shoulders.

"I need your help" he stood up and pulled me into my room before shutting the door and putting an angel banishing sigil on it. "What are you doing?" I question, he sighs and gently places his hands on my shoulders. "You want to see my wings right?" He says while looking away he seemed.

Fearful.

I nod cautiously, he sighs and pulls his hands away before walking around me towards my bed. He pulls his shirt off, he had a surprisingly toned body he wasn't a bodybuilder and wasn't exactly fat. What was the word I am looking for? Oh right.

Dad Bod. He has a dad bod, he turns and walks towards me. From where he stood in front of me I could feel his breath fan against my face, a slight minty smell.

"Don't freak out." He quietly mumbled as he covered my eyes. A bright light flashed from behind his fingers, he pulled his hand away.

I gasp as I take in the beauty of his wings. There were 3 sets of 6, the biggest were the brightest.

The set below that was a mix of pink and white with small black spots, it kind of looked like a sunrise it was also burnt but it also looked torn as well. His last set was the smallest yet was still bigger than your thigh. It looked to be the worst, half of it was gone but you could tell it was gold underneath all the dirt and grime.

"They need grooming, c-can you do that?" His request went on deaf ears, I was hypnotized by their beauty.

I blink repeatedly "what?" I shake my head slightly before looking up at his face. His cheeks had a pink hue to them, he groaned and released my shoulders "listen I need help cleaning them I don't wanna have to ask michael." He crosses his arms over his chest as if a defense.

I nod "of course I would be honored too luce. I can't believe you let me see your wings." I mumbled the last sentence, not trying to be rude or suggest I wouldn't be honored to do this again.

"Only for you~" he purred out as I ran my hands through his biggest set of wings.

YES, all of this takes me back to something I wanted to touch a lot more on in my original post when it comes to the historical male image, Percy, Lestat, and Matadors; because it truly does link back to how AMC is playing with dandyism and society's expectations about effeminate men.

Dandyism is a form of resistance culture. As I've said before, Lestat flouts gender norms because HE CAN do whatever he wants & get away with it. His androgyny's on a different level: effeminate or masculine, he's still a vampire, a SUPERnatural creature elevated beyond the bounds of social mores that determine what men & women could or SHOULD act/dress like. MANY people across social media have pointed to Lestat's limp wrists, long blonde "Barbie" hair and ESPECIALLY him dressing in drag in Ep7 as proof that he's the "wife/mother/woman/femme fatale" in Lousta's relationship, and THEN claim its either gender essentialism or homophobic/racist to say Louis is CANONICALLY female-coded one in BOTH the books and show (as AR said so). But no, Lestat in drag was a power move, because he doesn't care what anyone thinks/says/does--he'll just eat them. Mockingly eating the baby in a dress was a deliberate bastardization of motherhood/womanhood. Louis is called every homophobic name in the book by those expecting the black man to just take being insulted, but MARQUIS de Lioncourt DEMANDS being crowned KING of Mardi Gras, Krewe of Raj, & he'll show you exactly what he thinks about your silly homophobic hypocritical human society: You're just "the MEAT," let them eat KING Cake--you're his FOOD. Eff y'all, I'm dressed to KILL you, & laugh doing it.

Lestat's behavior is not only derived from the time period he was born & raised in (the Rococo era of so-called "effeminate" high class dandies--a la Percy Blakeney, etc). Lestat is the embodiment of PRIVILEGE: a powerful rich white male vampire, who leans into being foreign/French White to excuse anything he does that people find strange/off/unnatural/dangerous--all the red flags. 🚩🚩🚩

And red flags brings me directly back to matadors/toreros.

😂 TYSM! Sam Reid dropped so many juicy deets; I couldn't resist! There's so much depth to the Matador outfit, beyond the gendered aspect of bullfighting that I discussed before. Let's go back to what Sam said about Lestat, and delve deeper into matadors:

The most iconic apparel worn by toreros ("bullfighters") / matador de toros ("killer of bulls") in Spanish bullfighting is the Traje de Luces, the "Suit of Lights." The colors are usually bright & vivid, as part of the showmanship & pizzazz. Darker palettes are less common, as shiny sequins (the luces/lights) became part of the standard fit.

However, Lestat's all-black Matador outfit from what Sam called the "villain sequence" in Ep5 seems to be loosely following the style of a different but very closely related outfit, the Traje Campero "Rural/Countryside Suit" aka Traje Corto ("Short Suit").

(These costumes are typically worn during ceremonial parades and a very specific festival I'll get back to in a moment, cuz it's important.) Unlike the Suit of Light's sequins & silk, the Rural Suit is made of suede, leather, or velvet, in dark muted colors. The pants can be light or dark, striped & patterned, with or without chaps (also found in gentleman's uniforms of military officers and cowboys).

The trajes originated from "the flamboyant costumes of the 18th-century dandies and showmen involved in bullfighting, which later became exclusive to the bullfighting ritual." (Wikipedia)

The ancestor of both trajes (luces/campero) is traditional 17th-19th century Andalusian clothing (Andalusia being the home of Spanish bullfighting), closely associated with a very particular type of masculine dandyism. (The campero/corto is also the costume worn by Andalusian male flamenco dancers.)

"Before the 17th century the profession of bullfighting did not exist as such, and the fighters did not wear luxurious & shiny trajes de luces, but instead normal clothes of the time according to the social class to which the bullfighter belonged. The first bullfighter trajes de toreros appeared in the 17th century, when professional bullfighters from Navarre & Andalusia wore characteristic garments with their gangs to participate in performances and thus differentiate themselves from other bullfighter bands." (translated/truncated from Spanish website)

In the mid-1700s, Francisco Romero revolutionized professional bullfighting by establishing the first matadors who fought on foot, heroically fighting the bull face to face with swords & the muleta (iconic red flag) in a dance-like performance, dressed in a suede/velvet coleto (jacket), a precursor to the traje campero. Romero (from a carpenter family) wanted to show off & stand out from the nobility, and changed the game entirely, through a form of social resistance-turned-innovation.

"At that time, bullfighting on horseback was more important, which was considered a sport and not a show. Bullfighting on foot was not yet widely recognized." (translated from Spanish website)

Bull-killing on horseback was practiced by Spanish noblemen, attended by lower class assistants on foot. Romero was the first to make on-foot matadors the stars of what was increasingly becoming a dandified show/performance/dance. Matador Joaquin "Costillares" Rodríguez introduced even more showmanship, competing against Francisco Romero's grandson Pedro Romero (famously painted by Goya--bottom right).

For his matches, Costillares (middle) dressed in flashy silks, threaded in shiny silver braiding; the precursor to modern traje de luces. Like Francisco Romero (left), Costillares wanted to show off & stand out; and revolutionized the male image of the bullfighter through clothes.

In 18th-19th century Andalusian Spain there were 2 types of dandy: the French-imported upperclass petimetre (effeminate dandy), and the indigenous working class majo (masculine/macho dandy).

The majo, like many dandies, became the peak of Andalusian fashion, across all social classes; and torero/matador outfits weren't the only ones to take cues from them:

18th-19th century majos "distinguished themselves by their elaborate outfits and sense of style in dress and manners, as well as by their cheeky behavior. The majos outfits were exaggerations of traditional Spanish dress. The style stood in strong contrast to the French styles affected by many of the Spanish elite under the influence of the Enlightenment. Majos were known to pick fights with those they saw as afrancesados ("Frenchified" – fops)." (Wikipedia)

The majos' flamboyant/cheeky/saucy/exaggerated behavior was aggressively masculine; a lower/working class resistance to social mores imposed on them by (foreign) elites, whom they saw as more feminine, and FOUGHT against, to reaffirm their masculinity. These dandies were violent, brazen non-conformists; as beautiful & stylish as they were dangerous. And matadors/toreros knew that the bullfight was the perfect arena to exemplify the spirit of the majos through the dandified performance art/sport of killing bulls--a universal cultural symbol of masculine prowess & strength. Spanish bullfighting used to belong solely to the aristocratic equestrian sphere. Lowly pages/assistants like Francisco Romero (dressed in the precursor to the Rural/Countryside Suit), were the first to buck the system by killing bulls on foot--he likely didn't own a horse. The Romeros were from a carpenter family. Costillares was the son of a butcher. But through bullfighting they gained social status and became icons of masculinity--and dandies.

Lestat--the nouveau riche son of a poor country marquis--insists on being all the beautiful things he is without apology: masculine & effeminate alike. But like I said, it was no coincidence that Carol likened Lestat's Ep5 villain outfit with matadors--he's fighting Louis for dominance in their household, and reaffirming his place at the top of their very gendered social hierarchy, as a warning to BOTH "the housewife" AND "the prodigal daughter" he feels are threatening his authority as their Maker, so he defeats them BOTH.

Carol Cutshall initially designed Lestat's matador pants as pajamas--loungewear. (Lestat's CASUAL & comfortable in his ability to KILL--matador means "Killer" in Spanish--and remember what I said about Louis & Claudia being put on the same parallel level in Ep5, when Claudia's attacked by "Killer" aka Bruce.) Sam said Carol made several versions of the pants; and yup, they're foreshadowed in Ep5 when Lestat first starts arguing about Louis' depression, then they pop up again in Ep7 during the Murder Plot--two instances @dwreader brilliantly linked Lestat (& Stanley Kowalski) wearing wifebeaters. (Listen, Carol, I just wanna talk.... 😅🔫)

And here's my last points about Lestat's matador outfit. First there's the irony of Lestat (who grew up poor in rural France) wearing the something very similar to the matador/torero's Rural Suit, traje campero (aka Short Suit (traje corto)). But what's more interesting is that that type of Short/Rural Suit is usually only worn during special festivals called the Tienta ("trials"), not the regular corrida ("bullfights").

These Tienta are trials for young and immature bulls to be tested in the ring, to see if they're fit for breeding/fighting. 🤯 FLEDGLINGS. And who's Lestat's young bull? "Built-like-a-bird" Claudia. Who's the immature bull? The "biggest rat eater of them all," the under-developed "botched" vampire Louis. During these trials, veteran matadors can show off their skills; and novice bullfighters are shown the ropes and prove themselves. Like I said: the matador wins again.

God, even the way Lestat dragged Louis' bloody body out of the courtyard by the jaw/neck resembles the way the defeated bull--bled out & stabbed in the neck--is dragged by the neck out of the ring.

And remember what I said about Lestat and FOOD. Cuz what happens to the bulls after the matadors kill them? They're sent to the slaughterhouse to be butchered for FOOD. People EAT the bulls.

So yeah, my whole point in this post and my first one is not to sleep on guys like Lestat, Percy--or even other famous dandies like Valmont from Dangerous Liasions/Cruel Intentions (mentioned by both @little-desi-historian and @dwreader)--just because they're effeminate--especially when they're emulating mannerisms from a time period where the model of what made a fashionable gentlemen/good breeding/elite society did NOT match modern expectations about gender. People are getting distracted by Lestat's yaasified manner, not what the show itself is signalling through the relationships he has with others.

This show is deliberately painting Lestat as a villain through Louis' & Claudia's perspectives, as they were the ones who suffered under his Reign of Terror. The symbolism behind the matador-inspired costume used in Ep5 reflected gendered social hierarchies embedded within bullfighting culture (in Spain, women only started being allowed to fight in the 19th-20th centuries). Dressed in clothes resembling that of a matador, Lestat beating & defeating Louis mirrored the defeat of the emasculated bull, and the reification of the victor's masculine prowess at the top of the foodchain.

Summary: You didn't always sleep, you didn't always need sleep, but from time to time, you would awake and you would look for Jacaerys, the man who took your heart.

You have been watching him for a long time now. Watching, wanting and longing for him.

Longing for him in ways you never thought you would be able to long for anyone else.

People in Dragonstone all looked at the rising water. They could only watch as their ships were taken under by huge waves.

He swore to everyone that he definitely saw a woman standing on top of the huge rocks.

Rhaenyra also had difficulties believing his son but when later that night, she looked at the rock Luce talked about earlier, she saw the woman as well.

Rhaenyra felt a shiver run down her spine as she locked eyes with the woman. She looked away for just a second and by the time Rhaenyra looked back, she was gone.

"You took him from me." the voice behind her made her jump in fear. "You will marry him to someone else, she doesn't deserve him, you know that, I know that." Rhaenyra locked eyes with you once more. You were drenched from the rain. "All I ever wanted was Jace, I gave you everything, protection on my island, let you live in this castle and fended off any harm. Ships, even dragons. And this is how you repay me?" Rhaenyra was confused, but now she could recall the sunken ships, the drowned dragons that came for her and her family.

"What are you?"

You could sense the fear in her voice, she was obviously waiting for her men to arrive but you weren't stupid.

"I have lived a long long life. Tied to this place since the day of my death, I watched them build this castle, ruin it, rebuild and more. I watched you. I know everything. And I love your son. So much."

"What do you want?"

"I want to be loved. I want someone to love me. And I fell in love with your son."

"I don't know who you are or what you are talking about but you need to leave. My knights will escort you."

"My name is Y/N." Rhaenyra looked at you first the first time not behind you, you looked sad. 

"How do you know my son is betrothed?"

"She won't love him like I do. I know everything. I hear everything."

"You are clearly not in the right state of mind. I don't know how you got here, but my knights will guide you to the-"

"If anyone, you are the intruder here. I watched everything from the rocks. I know everything, Rhaenyra." you heard people approaching behind you. Turning the corner was her two sons.

"Stay there. She is crazy, get the guards." she instructed her children but they were clearly too stunned to move, you took a couple of steps towards the window, opening it. 

"I thought you would understand. Since you are not with the one you love either." you simply said before jumping out the window.

"Mother!" Luce ran to her but Jace ran to the window, due to the rain he couldn't see much if anything so he closed it.

"Who was she?" asked Luce.

"A crazy woman." Rhaenyra explained what happened before they all retrieved into their rooms.

Jace couldn't stop thinking, if she truly was only a crazy woman, why did she look so familiar to him?

You felt like you were going insane. Watching the now calmer waves hit the rocks under you, you let out a long sigh.

You hoped Rhaenyra would understand how you felt. You, of course, didn't expect her to give her son to you on a silver platter, all you wanted is just some understanding. Someone to say some reassuring words to you.

You moved and now sat on top of the tower, watching the sunset.

You had to realize that jealousy and anger couldn't be the way to deal with these feelings.

You had to let him go and watch him be happy in front of you.

Jace was looking for his mother, trying to find her he walked past a window, and looking out he noticed the trees were almost ready to bloom once again. Even as a young child, he found those trees incredible. No one knew how it was possible for them to be growing out of rocks.

Jace always found those beautiful trees and he swore each time he saw them, it was as if there was more.

Jace found his mother surrounded by books.

Rhaenyra has been rather strange since last night.

Guards went around but saw no one. 

"Mother?"

"She said, she has been tied to this land since the moment she died. But she was still alive, somehow."

"So, you are searching for what exactly?"

"Anything. A story a song, something about her. Something about a ghost that lives here."

"Mother, I believe I have seen her before when I was young." Rhaenyra looked at his son as Jace took a seat beside her. "One evening, I couldn't get any sleep so I was roaming the castle when I came across a woman. She was crying, she said she missed her mother but she knew she was dead. I told her that I would help her find comfort. She-She was the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. She smiled at me and her smile was so kind. But I don't remember what happened after. It is a memory I only remembered today."

"She said she loves you."

"I believe she has saved my life on many occasions and we didn't even know it. I believe Luce survived Aemond's wraith because of her. Now it makes sense, Mother."

Rhaenyra leaned back in her chair, putting the pieces together.

"Having her by our side would mean a win for the Blacks. I would get what is rightfully mine."

"So, what? You want me to seduce her?"

"No, no. She already loves you, we just, have to marry her to you. Think about it Jace, it could be beneficial for us." Jace also leaned back in his chair, this might not be such a bad idea. If she married him, Blacks would have a Goddess by their side and he would marry a woman who he actually finds interesting.

"I refuse to take part in your useless war." both jumped as you emerged from the dark. "I only saved your son because he is too young to die, but his actions towards his uncle are unforgivable. He took his eye, Aemond has the right to claim his."

"You said you love my son. If you marry him, you would be on our side, you have a duty to protect your family."

"I have no such duty. Even if I love him, I will not take part in a useless war of the ego! You cannot possibly believe that you would be Queen!"

Rhaenyra punched the table as she stood up, knocking the chair back.

"How dare you! It is my birthright!"

You tilted your head as you looked at her.

"Then why didn't your father name you as his heir?" the question hangs in the quiet room. "At least your brother's do not run when faced with their own actions."

"How dare-"

"Lucerys ran like a coward! Saying he was only there as a messenger but he had the audacity to laugh into Aemond's face during dinner! Rhaenyra, I have told you, I know everything! I just feel sorry for your sons, for not seeing what you are doing to them. Much like Alicient, putting your own ideas onto them! They could have been strong, the four of them, but no, you clouded their minds."

"Do not talk to my mother like that."

"I only tell the truth. And the truth tends to hurt. Even if you would give me the love I crave. I will not take part in an unnecessary massacre."

"Then you shall stay on this island as you are." Rhaenyra said as he slammed the book in front of her shut.

"You will all die you know. All of you, why head into a war you cannot win?"

"We can win and we will."

"You won't." you turned to Jace, hoping you can reason with him but the moment your eyes met his, you knew you won't be able to. "You will die on your dragon as your mother will burn. You underestimate them."

"Leave us! You demon!" Rhaenyra yelled as she tried to throw a book at you but you caught it.

"Then Prince Aemond shall have your son. You can start your useless war."

"What did you say?"

"Lucerys should be dead. I saved him from Vhagar. It was a mistake, I'll correct my mistake." 

"You threaten my son's life?!"

"Wait!" Jace stood up as he walked over to you. "Take me instead."

"All you needed to do was to listen and reach out but you all live in your heads. You could have sat down with your uncles and made things right, both you and Luce but I was wrong about you. You are not the man I thought you were as much as seeing you dead will hurt, please know I will visit your grave."

With that you disappeared into thin air. 

"Mother?" Jace turned to Rhaenyra who was now back in her seat looking at the book in front of her, the book now open again, on its page a simple drawing, death.

Many moons later, you sat on top of the tower once again, you let out a long sigh as Dragonstone was now a lot more quiet.

You tried to warn them, but they were all too blind. 

And there you were, listening to the waves hitting the rocks below.

On one of the rocks, a cherry blossom tree growing. A tree you planted in memory of your lost love, right next to it a couple more all growing out of the rocks.

Their petals fell into the water, colouring its surface slightly pink.

You were doomed for loneliness, but losing him did hurt.

It hurt every single time.

So, you closed your eyes, slept and forgot. 

Perhaps the next cycle would be different.

A/N: In case someone is confused by the ending, this is basically a time loop. I just finished watching The Haunting of Bly Manor (highly recommend) and it made me write this. Hope you enjoyed it!

… a thought: Havenfall/Hatry Potter crossover where a few years after the War Harry learns he has a cousin who just lost her older sister In Havenfall, America. He heads over to take care of Grace Evans, bringing Teddy along. (He’s just quit his job, finally publically broke up with Ginny who he fake dated because the public wouldn't shut up and now she's happy living her aro/ace life and wants a break).

Grace And Texdy go to school so Harry decides a part-time job is nice. Hmm, how about the bowling alley?

I WAS JUST THINKING ABOUT SOMETHING LIKE THIS

like a post war MOD Harry trying to pick up the pieces when he hears about a cousin that needs him. And she’s young and she has lost so much and he is the only one she has left.

(Let it never be said that Harry didn’t have a soft spot for broken kids at the end of their ropes. Teddy was a prime example of that.)

He does try rather hard to keep his and Teddy’s secrets — not from Grace of course who took the whole magic and half werewolf thing shockingly well — but that’s a little hard when havenfall just so happens to be another alpha’s territory (not that the sheriff seems to know what to do with him and Teddy and maybe his innocent act is better than he thought if she hasn’t confronted them yet). But what no one prepared him for is that outside of England having two school aged kids who are gone most of the day is boring, and while Harry doesn’t have to work he might actually be driven to insanity if he says at home watching daytime television for one more day.

He ends up at the bowling alley after one too many warnings from Grace about Luce being “an actual demon bitch from hell, Harry I swear!” where he realizes that another werewolf is the least of his supernatural concerns in this tiny middle of nowhere town

Chapter Five: Jealousy’s flare

The shrill sound of my alarm pulls me from sleep the next morning. Dreading the new girl role I'll be playing all day, I lay in bed for a while until I'm forced to roll out of bed like it's going to kill me. Washing away all traces that I've overslept I opt for just light mascara and Chapstick, and make my hair pin straight. I pull on black high waisted skinny jeans, tuck a blue striped top into them and shrug my jean jacket overtop. Popping a bagel into my mouth, I pull on some heeled boots and rush out the door.

The drive to LaPush high is mercifully short and I make it with time to spare. After running to the office to collect my timetable, I just make it to my first class as the bell goes. Thankfully I see familiar faces right at the back. Jacob, Embry and Paul wave me over and I take my place next to them.

Class is about halfway done and I can feel Paul's gaze on the side of my face. I turn to him and send him a questioning look. He smirks at me and slides a note to my desk

You look really beautiful today :)

I hide the note under my hand and feel my face heat up. Paul's smirk only grows at my reaction and he turns his attention back to the teacher, satisfied with the effect he had on me.

Paul follows me around like a puppy all day, and I find myself loving every minute of it. He's right next to me when he can be, and for every class I have without him, he's right there at the door when the bell rings to walk me to my next one. I'm all anyone is talking about all day. No one knows that my supernatural hearing picks up everything they're saying. Most of it is just curious whispers about me, but I cringe at the few people telling stories about why we left town in the first place and the things they have to say about my family. The best is all the glares I'm getting from most of the girls, who reek of jealousy watching Paul walk in step beside me all day, giving me all of his attention. One girl even tries to flirt with him right in front of me.

"Hey Babe. How're you today?" This girl asks, bringing her hand to rest on Paul's bicep. Without my permission jealousy flares up inside me. I see the girl's confidence waver as our eyes lock and I raise my eyebrow at her. Damn this imprint thing is ridiculous. You barely know him Lucy.  I think to myself taking a deep breath. I can't seem to un-ball my fists though and the girls eyes glance worriedly down at them. Paul seems to enjoy my reaction and rudely shrugs the girl off and turns his attention to me, brushing my hair behind my ear with a smirk.

"You know, I don't think I've ever seen something quite as hot as you staking your claim." He whispers in my ear in a husky voice that sends shivers down my spine. He steps back to gauge my reaction to his words and I smile sweetly at him biting my lip. His eyes darken at the sight.

The girl is staring at us with her jaw on the floor, so I send her a wink and start for the door, Paul hot on my heels chuckling loudly behind me.

I trudge through the rain up the porch steps of Sam and Emily's house and barge in without knocking. I figured if the second cousin pass doesn't earn me the right, the pack member pass will. I'm proved right when Emily calls to me from the kitchen.

"If you trail mud into my house Luce there'll be hell to pay. Come dry off and have some soup!"

Quickly rubbing my shoes on the doormat, I turn the corner to find her standing over an absurdly large pot of soup on the stove and offer my aid in preparing the rest of dinner for the horde of always hungry teenage werewolves.

Some of the boys went out for patrol right after school, and I'm to go out with them and learn the lay of the land after dinner. It's then that I hear them start piling through the front door and taking their places automatically at the table.

"Hello ladies." Embry says as Paul silently wraps me in a hug, as if we hadn't just seen each other a few hours ago.

"How was your first day of school Little one?" Sam asks. He's taken to calling me that cause he thinks it's hilarious that all of the boys tower over me. I swear I'm not that short, they're all just obnoxiously huge.

"She almost knocked out Cierra. You know that girl Paul used to  hook up with?" Embry blurts out. Paul's eyes go wide. He hadn't mentioned that bit earlier. But I laugh at the memory of her jaw on the floor. Paul looks at me nervously like he's waiting for me to snap.

"What? Should I be mad? I don't care. I've slept with people too. Last time we saw each other before yesterday we were like 8!" Paul's eyes narrowed at the news of my history, but I just give him a playful glare.

After dinner, Sam pulls me out of the house and we shift into our wolves.

So we all take turns running patrol. Our territory is everything west of Forks. The Cullens protect what's east of that. We'll run the perimeter together now so you can get to know where the lines are. It's pretty hard to miss where the Cullens territory starts, the smell will burn up your nose. I try to make sure the shifts are even, but you'll have to give up school and nights every once in a while. Once we get to the treaty line you'll be able to pick up the scent of the Cullens. You'll come to recognize it pretty quickly. So if you ever catch a whiff of a vampire that isn't then, howl and the rest of the pack with come help. You're expected to do that same, if you hear a howl, you come cause someone could be in danger.

I make sure to take in everything Sam says. He explains things really well and in a way that makes me want to listen. The mark of a good Alpha. I make a huge fuss about the smell of vampires when we reach it, but I learn the Cullens scents and lock them in my memory. We run the whole perimeter and back to the house, Sam explaining how everything works the whole time. By the end of my training, I feel like I can do this well and relish the feeling of belonging. These guys want me here, and I want nothing more than to become a fully fledged member of this family. Getting lost in my mind, it startles me when Sam answers my private thoughts.

"You're already part of this family little one. Even if you weren't a wolf, being Paul's imprint would make you a pack member. But you hit the double whammy. We are your brothers now, and we take care of each other in this family."

A warmth radiates through my chest at Sam's words. And I feel at home.

also about the innate powers thing: I've been saying it for ages but there' something SO weird about the people that see El in the void

Henry x3 (as Demogorgon-hivemind, flayed Billy, flayed Heather), Terry x2, Will x1, potentially Kali x1 (but her turning around to El is ambiguous since she was still a mysterious character so you can question whether she saw El)... and Mike... x?

not only does Mike look Weird on this list, he's even implied to have have seen El in there more than once as well since he talks abut "still seeing her" in terms of a regular thing + neither him or El are spooked when he suddenly just Looks at her out of nowhere

++ it should actually be even More startling to them, but especially El, since he's also the first person we ever see notice El in the void without her making contact first like with the Demogorgon or Will in s1. he literally just stops and directly looks at her before going "El?". and she didn't just Not get to touch him, she also doesn't even say anything to get his attention. he really just suddenly realized that she was there. like. it's weird

especially with the list then going on only to have every other person to get on it after him have powers (counting Will and his UD connection here bc Something supernatural with him is basically already confirmed to happen)

it's literally just El's weird mentor/older brother/pls pls pls not dad figure, El's mom, El's sister, El's future step?brother... and Mike

WHAT IS HE DOING ON THIS LINE UP???

he's the odd one out no matter how you spin it (both by family relation and psychic ability)

and it's not even like they retconned this later on, in s3 El and Max go out of their way to directly talk about Mike having "sensed her in there [the void] before" specifically after Billy (Henry) just did the same thing and they were confused by it

honestly so fucking weird to me. it's giving Will's abduction vibes where the first time we see something happen is actually the one time that doesn't fit the pattern, but bc it's the First time we can't question it yet. Will's abduction was the one that broke the pattern but bc we hadn't seen any other abduction yet we can only see that when looking back and comparing it with other instances. same way, Mike is clearly the odd one out of this entire "ofc i can see El in the void? no biggie?" lineup because he's the ONLY one on it to 1) not be related to El in some way (or have a family like connection like Will-El, and 2) not have powers

Hopper, agents, the rest of the party, etc all never see El in the void EVER despite her getting right up in people's faces, so there's clearly a reason why Some people are able to do it. i wonder if there IS actually a common denominator and we just don't know about it yet...

He's 1000% sus, I absolutely agree. There's something fucky about Mike Wheeler/the Wheelers, and while initially I attributed it to something narrative-only...my opinion has been swayed somewhat. It's weird. All of it is weird.

I thought El and Will were the Luke-Leia duo, but...the more I think on it the more it feels like El and Mike. He senses El the way Leia can sense Luke, which, as you said, he technically shouldn't be able to.

And then there's also the weirdness with Holly in the Byers house, how she always seems to be around when weird things are happening (Fleshflayer, the LiteBrite, the Spores, etc.), and the fact that she Very Much looks like a Creel.

Em has talked about Karen and Virginia stuff as it relates to Karen being an alternate timeline version of the Creel daughter (From the Edward Creel/Indianapolis Gazette timeline where Alice was the mother and Virginia was the sister), given that Cara Buono and Raphael Luce look pretty similar, as do Cara Buono and Tyner Rushing (Virginia, Henry's mother).I was highly skeptical of "Karen is Alice", and I still am. She's not Alice, imho. She's Virginia, hence all the paralleling to Henry's mother, Virginia.

Karen being Virginia (sister) would make Mike a Creel by blood as well, which would explain why he seems to have this weird ability to sense people. If Henry/Edward is El's father...well. That cousin bit from ST1 becomes a touch more literal...

As for Henry/Edward being an older brother figure rather than a father...there's some uncomfortable stuff to talk about here.

We're in Martin "Three-Legged Papa" Brenner's realm here. We're talking about the guy who kidnaps kids and makes them into superweapons for a living and seems to enjoy his work. We're talking about Martin "MKULTRA" Brenner. Who knows what kind of samples he was collecting from his prized subject?

(Mind you, this was all happening around the same time cells were stolen from Henrietta Lacks, whose regenerative capabilities provided a pure human cell line for medical research from 1951-Present Day. She was only recently recognized for her contribution/what was stolen from her. Keeping cell lines from test subjects would not be outside the realm of believablility, especially in Henry/Edward's case.)

Henry/Edward talks about Brenner wanting to "recreate him" and immediately segues into "soon, others were born". He includes reproduction in the list of things that bother him about the repetitiveness of life. He also has a weird amount of knowledge about Terry, enough to tell El about her.

He tells El about Terry breaking in, which means he was present for it...but that all happened in a different area of the lab. What was he doing up there? Why would Brenner assign him to be up there?

I'm staring directly at Henry/Edward/Vecna's "I just want you to watch" line, because that line applies to El...but it also applies to Brenner keeping him as an orderly with the kids. Brenner may have had Henry/Edward up there witnessing the fallout of his refusal to be controlled.

El has brown hair/brown eyes, yes, but that likely comes from Terry given that brown/brown is generally a dominant trait over blonde/blue. However, we see that Terry has (weak) abilities. If you combine that with Henry/Edward, you get a kid with freaky strong abilities: El. We also see that El has a lot of mannerisms that are derived from Henry...before we even know who Henry is.

So while Henry may have been an older brother/mentor figure, he could very well be her biological father.

(Also, an aside: Many young/unwilling parents end up being portrayed as an older sibling if their parents decide to raise the baby as such. So...not necessarily an uncommon type of relationship here, especially given the fucked up "family" dynamic in Brenner's lab.)

Anyway...

Mike: My point is, they'll take care of you. They'll be like your new parents! And Nancy, she'll be like your new sister.

El: Will you...be like my brother?

Hopper: There's something very wrong with this thing between Mike and El

Joyce: They're just kissing, right?
