For today's, Throwback Thursday, we have Andrew Barth Feldman as Seymour and Sarah Hyland as Audrey in Little Shop of Horrors last summer. Can't wait to see Sarah become Daisy later this month!

Little Shop of Horrors August 2024 Off-Broadway Revival - $10

Cast: Andrew Barth Feldman (Seymour), Sarah Hyland (Audrey), James Carpinello (Orin/Others), Kevin Del Aguila (Mr. Mushnik), Khadija Sankoh (Chiffon), Morgan Ashley Bryant (Crystal), Tiffany Reneé Thompson (Ronnette), Major Attaway (Voice of Audrey II), Teddy Yudain (Derelict)

Notes: MP4 format. Filmed from mid center orchestra. Probably my best overall shot of this show yet. Sarah is best Audrey; her and Andrew play off each other so well! Mix of wide shots and zooms. Minimal obstruction for the most part, major obstruction on the far left (ex. when Orin first introduces himself to the Urchins). Includes bows. NFS forever except through master and NFT through September 24, 2029.

Feel free to explain why whichever one you pick is your favorite! I love forming discussions around movies, shows, etc and lsoh has a lot of things to talk about!

Also I know there’s more like West End productions and tours but I just stuck to the main ones. Oh and if anyone picks the cartoon as their favorite, I wanna talk to ya. I’m not mad I’m just curious as to who actually likes it better than literally anything else 😂

oh also, fun little tidbit about orin's songs: dentist has very prominent and consistent percussion (im convinced it was inspired by "oh yeah, maybe baby" by the crystals.) this sets him up as a character who is stable, powerful, methodical, and consistent in his actions. its also a musical contrast to audrey, whose music is very melody-focused

now (it's just the gas), on the other hand (specifically during orin's parts) is the complete opposite. the rhythm speeds up and slows rapidly, which not only makes it a horrifically difficult song to play and perform, it also symbolizes his slow fall toward death! as he gets weaker, that steady rhythm he once had fades and it becomes more erratic and inconsistent. its super clever and im surpised i havent found other mentions of this

Masters notes: “2 Videos included. One is a pretty good spy-cam video. A little bit of washout, but all the action captured very well. 2nd video is a phone boot. Lots of washout and obstruction, but prettier colors. Beautiful, clean audio. Great performances by both lead understudies.” (Mega bootleg)

Notes: MP4 format. Filmed from mid center orchestra. Mix of wide shots and zooms. Some obstruction caused by head directly in front of me, but I was able to shoot around it fairly well. Disappointed by Corbin being out, but Johnny was a very pleasant surprise of becoming my favorite as Seymour specifically. NFS forever except through master and NFT through June 24, 2029.
