LinkedIn is so great. You get to experience the dread of being stuck in recruiting purgatory, scrolling through jobs you’ll never hear back from or don’t pay enough, then the platform recommends you viral posts from CEO’s and HR people that spend 7 paragraphs sucking their own dicks

#bird chirps #If I have to see one more Linkedin influencer telling a fake story on how they did such an amazing and selfless thing for an applicant #Then try to tell me their fucking online course three paragraphs later #Im gonna scream #Bonus points if the story they tell definitely didnt happen #So many of them have ‘and then everyone clapped’ energy #I just saw a posted about a recruiter who asked someone for their expected salary #And then offered them 30% more because the applicant severely lowballed themselves #And I was reading that like ‘No you fucking didnt’

Just booked a new freelance writing contract from a client I thought had ghosted me, God-is-real.gif.

#we were talking last month back and forth over email and then arranged to talk over teams which they cancelled at the last minute #and i didn't hear anything until i sent a follow-up email on Mon and she got back to me within literally three minutes asking to zoom today #which surprised me y'know! given the aforementioned ghosting!#but we vibed well and i've written stuff for similar orgs before and she offered me the contract in the meeting which was delightful #the rate's pretty good for an nfp too #it's a relief honestly i lost two contracts recently #a regular one is replacing their freelance writers with ai and the other was a new one that decided my rate was too high #which is HILARIOUS when i tell you the client was disney merchandising and in hindsight i actually think i lowballed them #i love the theatre i work at but the pay is not great #freelance writing is definitely getting harder / less stable than it already was though :-/#anyway focusing on the good this is a pretty big contract and has potential to have ongoing work so that's delightful

much thoughts about shri’iia in early act 3 bc I just got here and I think she’d be so overwhelmed at the city…. (also bc I think it’s more crowded than what’s shown) like it just dawns on her that it’s been so long since she’s been in actual civilisation and surrounded with so much people that she’s like 🧍‍♀️‼️ overwhelmed at the whole of it. not to mention how vibrant and colourful the city must be especially compared to the shadowcursed lands..! shri’iia thinking that she’s grown accustomed to daylight and colours but when they get to rivington it hits her like a flashbang and she’s back to squinting again….she needs her big hat fr….

i also like the idea of karlach lae’zeal and shri’iia exploring the city together since they’re kind of aliens to the place with karlach being away from the city for 10 years. like I think it would b so fun to me and they’d probably end up in jail by the end

#the three of them going off to look for a smith to get new gear #except i don’t think lae’zel will be good at haggling. karlach kind of but she lowballs. shri’iia is good at it but language barrier #so her haggling comes off as mild threats. n they’d be wary of her bc she’s a drow with a massive halberd #and then the prices she’s offering are daylight robbery so the smith ends up calling the fist on them #shut up about bg3.

I feel like if a job's payrange is less than what I earned when working for a nonprofit (especially if they expect me to do more, and ESPECIALLY if it's a contract job) I should legally be allowed to kill them
