IWTV S2 Ep1 Musings - Looking for Home: Louis, Claudia & Daciana

They flip between siblings and parent so much even I was getting whiplash--no wonder Lou's confused. U_U

This was EEEEEEEEVIIIIIIL, AMC! 😭 Louis carrying Grace's wedding portrait, and using it to FAKE his identity in Europe, after Grace couldn't even go to Europe for her own honeymoon cuz Paul died--STOP IT! 😭😭

And you can hear just a few quick seconds of the DPDL lietmotif that always plays for Grace, Paul, and sibling!Claudia, before it takes this SUPER dark and ominous tone--the song has been tainted, just like Lou's relationship with Grace and Claudia was tainted.

Go AWF, Claudia!

And then she finds ONE, and it was so heartbreakingly touching.

I was hoping she was Alessandra, but nope, she's an AMC!OC, Daciana. I'm assuming they were nodding to one rando revenant:

And she is obviously the same "Anna" the kids were singing about--(very Gaunter O'Dimm of them, I love it 💀)--living like frikkin Baba Yaga in a grimy castle in the woods.

Daciana killed her own fledgling after Claudia blinded him--after the revanant AND Daciana attacked them first, but whatever. Cuz she said he wouldn't be able to hunt/feed with no eyes--so it can't heal; her fledglings are too effed up. She's officially the last one in the area.

And I get it now--the bear(?) head Claudia breaks off of the dead vampire's sarcophagus was a heraldric figurehead. Claudia showed it to Daciana, as a way of asking her who that dead vamp was.

She didn't want to tell them her story or hear theirs--but she wanted them to know about Cezare Romulo (RIP). (It's crazy how in 5 minutes The Vampire Daciana was way more effective than a whole hour of Dierdre Mayfair. 🙄😒) She complimented Claudia's blood, saying it tasted like the cream of the crop. Daciana only told them her name, and that she was waiting for her children--fledglings or real ones, who knows (I bet both).

Only for Daciana to kill herself right in front of them (RIP). 😔🔥

This is so sad, but it was obvious she was gonna do that.

Stop teasing the Children of Darkness after this Alessandra fake-out. She's got the same darkness in her that Nicki (AND Louis) had. And we know where that means. 🔥💀🔥

These vampires are STARVING--hungry for family, love, home: LIFE.

So I LOVE that Morgan clocked Louis on Grace's photo--that ain't yo wife! The gaydar was beeping the second your pretty arse walked in!

Like, it's been established that Louis is a terrible liar-you don't need an investigative journalist to figure that much out. Louis is TOO honest--he was dumb AF for telling Morgan his real name! I get why he did it in the book--again: desperate to make a connection.

But on the show it comes across way different--Louis almost immediately tells Morgan his name (he doesn't do that for Emilia, even though SHE called him pretty! Istg I was picking up some flirtatiousness with Lou & Morgan; put those pheromones AWAY ���). But you come across MIGHTY SUS if your Black arse is going around switching identities on all these twitchy Europeans, Louis!

Like baaaaaasicallllllyyyyyyy!!! 🤦 You see them shooting up corpses just to make sure--you think they won't shoot YOU!?!

Anyways, it's so cool that they made Morgan a photographer--so is THIS why Louis starts taking photos!? 🤩📸

Cuz I've been wondering how Louis makes money in Paris so they don't have to pickpocket anymore?

I love that they included this.

No matter where they go, they have to pose as Black servants and maids and VALETS and SLAVES, white folk are the same regardless of the country.

Which was an interesting parallel with Daciana, and how much they were hyping up America.

She was clearly nuts, but smart & sane enough to realize that 2 (two!) Black vampires had fled their oh-so-great "land of the free" to come to HER busted AF blown up war-torn country, so why should she expect to have any happiness over there?

I don't know a lick of Romanian, but I wonder if the "another one" she was referring to was the soldier, or the country. As Daciana realized that no matter who she made her new fledgling, and no matter which country she ran to, she'd be alone & unhappy without the people she loved--her HOME.

Home is where the HEART is! Claudia's been homeless this whole time! Daciana's got that huge castle, but lives all alone--she can't make proper fledglings. Meanwhile Louis still thinks NOLA is home, even after they killed everyone who knew them--"including" Lestat!

ok this was much longer than i thought it would be but this episode has a lot in it. each episode gets better and better and this is definitely my favorite of the season so far.

i am LOVING louis and armands relationship and also both of their story arcs and characterizations. their dynamic is kind of the opposite of what i, and i think a lot of other people, expected but it still makes total sense and im enjoying it a lot

the tldr of it is: nope, vivian was always incredibly supportive of nico racing, and when nico undertook the intense routines he did in 2016; she helped making sure he didn't have to focus on anything except racing, and there's even a story of their baby then 1.5 years old crawling into nico's office and instinctively putting her hand over her mouth to shush herself "cause you don't disturb daddy while he's working" 🥺😔 ultimately, nico found what he did in 2016 unsustainable and missing out on his family + kid's developments stages.

and okay so there are articles of him not sleeping in the same bed as vivian (i think it may be from his beyond the grid but im not positive) and like most of that was beacuse he was working with a sleep doctor on jetlag and was waking up at and going to bed at crazy hours.. like running around monaco at 3am to change his body over to a new time zone

and also vivian had all the baby duties for the entire year. nico has said and i explicitly remember that he didnt do a single diaper change because he was just focused on recovery when he was home

BUT in NO WAY did he almost ruin his marraige. nico has said multiple times that vivian was completely on board with their plan for 2016 and that he could not have done it without her love and support and that she was his rock through the entire thing. Like they are (and in 2016 were) a very strong couple and she knew what racing means to him and was willing to help him achieve his dream

more tidbits:::: he also said that she didn't even know about his plan to retire until the saturday before the race and so one could assume that it wasn't like an ultimatum or anything for her either,,, it was just their plan to try and get nico to win and she fully supported that (or so nico has said)

she even got louis vuittons in his turquoise color to wear for his championship win and was there for as many races as she could be (idk if she went to all of them)...

like to this day, the only pictures nico has behind him when hes using his sim racing set is a picture of her and him getting sprayed with champagne after his wdc win and then another similar one in his office.. like she (and the girls) are his entire life

ALSO to correct another narrative i've seen thats connected to this... everyone being like 'why is he commentating for sky if he says he loves his family' when NICO HIMSELF has said that he loves to do it and has 100% complete control over his schedule and which races he goes to and therefore can plan his work around his family rather than the other way around (that's why he's only commentating 5 or so races on location 😔)

vivian was also pregnant and gave birth in 2017, so that beats the "nico gave up sex" theory, also I personally find born again virgin world champion very funny

I have been watching the presentation on Runes that I mentioned before. It's the kind of event meant for people working in animation to share their experience, so they're going through explaining the whole development and production process. And man, there is a lot of amazing art.

One of my favourite kinds of concept art is just kids hanging out and having fun. And some (the one with warriors in the sky and the one with Alice standing near a river) remind me of paintings, like something I've seen before. The atmosphere in these is amazing.

Some great storyboards from the first episode. They mentioned that the channel actually didn't accept the first version, so they had to change stuff. Now I'll be wondering what was changed 🤔

And these drawings I'm pretty sure they said are by Jean-Louis Vandestoc, he is the director and also the creator of Lolirock (you can see his webcam in the corner of some of these). Love the expressions!

And here they made DND-like sheets for the characters. The corner of Turstin's page is cut off by webcam, so I actually don't know if he's older than others 😔 But Hugo and Alice were aged down a couple of years. I love that she's listed as the leader of the group. The inspiration section at the bottom took me out though. You got Andrew Garfield's Spiderman, Merida from Brave and Asuka from Evangelion and then young Dwayne Johnson fjjdkdks

This whole spread is amazing. I love the image of Hela and Ulrich drinking together, and he's just all grumpy and worn out while she's having a great time

But damn, that design on the right is so cool!! I'm kinda sad they discarded it. The design notes are... something? "I'm not for the tomboy side, I would like her to be attractive and for Turstin to be shocked when he discovers that she is evil. She has to hide her symbol from the start to do the reveal :)" So I guess Turstin was supposed to have a little crush on her? And what's that about a symbol? I have no idea.

"I think it's so grilled (??) that she is a villain from the start. Normally during development of the story Hela shouldn't put on appearances, it's hard to trust her from the outset :)" Okay, that makes sense.

"The idea would be for her to be pretty and for no one know who she is really. Her hair in a braid will hide her symbol, and she would change her look to be more snakelike and evil". She changed so much, I literally can't imagine current Hela looking "snakelike". Maybe her original personality was way different as well.

And here's my man Ulrich, he looks mostly the same, but the design on the left kinda looks like a younger version of him. I also love the little Neel reaching out to him

Lazy Afternoon 2001 Soul / R&B / Jazz / Adult Contemporary

I'll have you know that I really love it when brands release these stupid-as-hell, ephemeral promo comps that try to offer you a glimpse into their product's "personality." Over the years I've gotten to know that the Czech version of Sprite loves lots of trip hop and big beat tunes, Pottery Barn's into classic soul, Levi's has something of a country-rock streak, and Mercedes-Benz digs themselves some chill European lounge grooves. And I've also been on the hunt for a while now to learn what the windshield wiper company Rain X listens to, but their promo has proven to be elusive to me thus far 😔. But we love to treat our brands like people though, don't we folks?

So, here's one of those promos from a Dutch beer company called Brand Bier that sells in the US as Royal Brand. Currently owned by Heineken, they've been brewing since the *14th century*, and have been known as Brand since the 1870s. And given that deep history, you might think that their taste in music goes way back too, but what this 2001 CD seems to suggest is that this particular beer's love for tunes actually only begins in the early 50s 🤔. And their genres of choice? Why, soul, R&B, and a little bit of jazz, of course, and almost all of it from North America too!

And unlike a bunch of other brand promo comps that I've sifted through, this one's actually pretty well-put-together. It's a bit of a cheat code since it has a bunch of enormous hits on it, like Bill Withers' "Ain't No Sunshine," The Isley Brothers' "That Lady," Blood, Sweat & Tears' "Spinning Wheel," and Marvin Gaye's "Sexual Healing," but you'd probably never expect an Aretha Franklin deep cut, like her jazz-pop rendition of George & Ira Gershwin's "It Ain't Necessarily So," which appeared on her 1960 debut album, to be on a CD like this one. That song was never released as a single and it predates her rise to superstardom by about six or seven years.

So, sometimes I find that CDs like these serve better as coasters than they do as soundtracks for which to drink your beer by, but the photo used for this album's cover seems to nail the vibe pretty perfectly here. This is just a pleasant hour's-plus worth of classic tunes to sit on a floor and sip a beverage to; but stay away from the small handful of more modern adult contemporary 90s selections, though, because those tunes don't seem to have aged nearly as well as any of the ones that were recorded before them.

Glad to have shown up if your hour of need babes!! My DA senses were tingling and I couldn't ignore it. So. The betrayal is the most Armandstat coded shit I've ever seen lmao. Lestat tells a Rolling Stone journalist (who senses the UST between them and asks him about it) that everything between them is "make believe" and basically acting on his part to create a narrative, not "real life", he loves Louis etc. And the reporter (who's staying at the same hotel where Armand lives, The Chateau Marmont ofc), tells him about it and it enrages Armand who in turn tells the reporter about Lestat's stunt in rehab/past drug addiction. Then Armand sees Lestat at a party and tells him, "I have to tell you a secret. I think you're the most brilliant person I've ever met... besides me" ("does anyone else know the size of your soul?"). But before this happens they actually kiss in the parking lot. Lestat goes home to find Louis and their daughter sleeping in bed. Louis is definitely sure something's up now so he goes out on his own and ends up sleeping with Lestat's bandmate lmaoo this is a mess. The RS article comes out and turns out that to prevent the journalist from writing about Lestat missing his daughter's birth because he was too coked out to show up, he told him about Armand's current drug addiction. All this while they're still writing songs about each other. Lestat apologizes to Louis and says "history is what happened, not what almost happened" (ouch but... yeah). Armand fucks off to Greece. 3 episodes left and I feel like them not fucking is killing the vibe but YEAH.

Rocket Queen IS absolutely a Lestat/Armand song. A lot of 80's glam rock hits feel just like them 🤧🤧🤧 "groupie AU ties into them producing a vintage porno film together for 'promotional shock purposes'" oh my godddd YES, with them having to have sex in front of everyone while they make each other feel things they've never felt before. And it also fits into the "this is strictly business, no feelings" narrative that is clearly bullshit but they're too in denial to realize.

omg I'm dying lmao what the fuck 💀💀💀 that's so messy, that's so L/A... I'm devastated by proxy.

Hoping and praying I can get the 'Rocket Queen' one-shot posted by summer, I've been thinking about it far too long. 🥹💖 (I was also considering that title for an AU where 1981 younger reporter!Daniel picks up sex worker!Armand off a street in West Hollywood but instead of sex, he wants to interview him. And then promptly falls in love, etc etc, you know the drill).

HEYYY OH MY GOD. hmm ok so i'll tell u everything but it'll be long so be warned. my uncle bought my tickets bc i went with him my aunt, cousins and my sister but the morning of the concert when he was confirming the tickets he could notttt find them. most stressful 20 minutes of my entire life i almost cried but in the end he found them it was so 😭 ok so it was general entry which is INSANE to me it was my first concert ever as well which ....WHAT even. so we lined up in the heat for a few hours but not very to the front in the end i was like very middle of the theatre! i wish the academic opened i was sososososo sad. but the snuts were good too i just Love the academic so i am still v sad they didnt open 😔 THE CONCERT ITSELF OH MY FOD . i was going crazy i screamed so much my legs and throat still hurt i was a MENACE to be around i stepped on so many ppl's toes AND I SAW HIM I SAW LOUIS IT S TILL FEELS SOSO CRAZT 2 ME. nothing in my life will ever top this. AND HE PLAYED COMMON PEOPLE ??!?!( UR KIDDINGGG. also back to you goes soooo hard i did NOT appreciate it before this . AND THE SIBWAWC LGIHTSSSSS. ooo also wdbhg did not slay as much as i was expecting it 2 but maybe im blacking out and need 2 rewatch rhe videos and listen to it again. hmmm what else. OHHH SATURDAY LIVE. SATURDAYS LIVE. dedictatiing my entire life to saturdays live because that was genuinely the best best one . like . the BEST. also the crowd was loud but ppl around me were NOT jumping kicking screaming as much as i was i fear. maybe i should've followed cade's strategy to go crazy in the back. if i ever have the opportunity to go to another louis show i am stuck bw the two options of lining up super duper early so i can be at barricade when he hmmm. gets swallowed or be at the back and have the space to go fully crazy . anyway ghat is all i rnink all i can think is i miss him so so much

9:30-12:00 am: 'work' but you're focusing on Louis; you're having meetings but internally you're screaming 'I'VE WOKEN UP FROM MY SLEEEEEEP'; you take a break but get lost in all the updates on tumblr and twitter so you'd rather ignore it and try to work; your phone is overheating from playing BTM on repeat all morning

12:00-13:00: lunch break trying to catch up with all that's been happening (you can't because there's just too much); you find out you have to do it all again tomorrow because the MV is dropping at 9 am

13:00-15:00 : try to do all the stuff you had to do in a full day under 2 hours

15:00: show's starting!!! oups! can't do any work I have to refresh IG streams like a crazy person

16:30 : message your coworkers on Teams saying it's been a great day, see you tomorrow!

it was a lunch with louis radio contest for one of my local stations in the city over from me (it’s such a b-list city for artists i was surprised to see the contest come up) but, you just had to listen to the top 40 station like…. for 12 hours straight every day for a week 😵‍💫 to get the keywords they gave out randomly throughout the day. then you had to submit the keyword into the application on their website in the same hour period for it to count as a submission. there were 30 keywords in total by the end of the contest on friday, and my brain was fried from listening to the same 12 mediocre songs on loop for that long 💀 but! then they had a program randomly choose 20 winners out of everyone who submitted so it was just random chance honestly 😔. no call-ins or anything like that which makes me feel anxious even trying to do lmao

i know for a fact harry stinks because he's a gym rat with a busy schedule which means he probably skips the showers and heads out to random places after his 2 hour cardio. those times we've seen him out and about with gym clothes? dirty ass. i fully believe that lady who said he smelled BAD plus he sneezes into his hands 🤢 louis literally said he reused the same underwear for 3 days at a time on TOUR like the SWEAT would've had his ass RANK. but that was 2014 and the big larries who were all bl's swore it was just part of sony's quest to make him look straight like.... idk who told them gay men have flawless hygiene and don't love licking sweaty armpits and used jockstraps and dick cheese through a gloryhole but i guess 5'2 fairy twink bottom louis having a smelly asshole was just too much for them so simon must've had a gun to his head when he said stinky white rights 😔

Cursed Euro Report Time! (just a lil' bit cursed, I'm losing my touch 😔)

I wasn't sure I'd write one for yesterday's matches but then both Italy and Louis provided so much content... (also blame @bluelightsaber for sending me down a Mr. O meltdown)

So!!! Italy won!!! Which is great because they're ✨the gayest football team of the Euro✨. No wonder it's the team that Louis supported during that match 😌

Italy will play against Spain in the semi-final, which is gonna be interesting. If England wins today they'll play against Denmark or Czech Rep in the semi-final, so I think they might have a chance to go to the final??? Of course they'll probably get destroyed by Spain or Italy then. Anyways as Louis tweeted today, "COME ON ENGLAND" (me: COME ON ENGLAND 🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪)

But what we LOVED to see from yesterday was the fact that Louis was out there, watching the match, wearing a flannel shirt that definitely belongs to his boyfriend, because, as Val said, he was cold before leaving and Mr. O was like... "take this babe" 🥺Of course said flannel shirt had a Lion logo... Louis fashion whore (talking about Lions, every time I read "Lions' Den" on England's twitter I read "Louis' Den" and I'm like... yeah....get all these hot footballers in Louis' den... in Louis 😏) Anyways then I said, NO they have to be watching the game together or I'll cry and Val pointed out to that white-t-shirt-blue-jeans guy that we see in half here and then we were like 🧐🧐🧐🧐 but really we were just clowning 🤡.

But maybe Mr. O wasn't there... he might have been on the field (Italian footballer BF Louis era 😎) or already in Rome for today's match? That would make all the larries cry, cuz it's the wrong BF in Italy so I'm all for it. I mean, could be any one of these 2... or even the 2 of them 😏 (polyamorous English footballers BFs Louis era 😎). How exactly did Louis became friends with Marcus Radford??? 🤔... i feel like there's some investigating clowning to be done here.

Anyways in typical slutty behavior, Louis was flirting with fans (look at him!!!) and also followed "bigdogro19", alas the account is private so we will never know what that guy looks like and what kind of DMs he's gonna get from L.

Oli was there as well, wearing what looks like some sort of wizard robe from Harry Potter, and so we can come back to the inevitable conclusion that "it was always Oli" and thus Louis did watch the game with Mr. O. 🥰

In conclusion, Louies' happiness depends on England winning today (in a few hours really...) and I'm personally torn between wanting more pics/footage of happy Louis (esp with his long hair flowing 😍) but also I just want him to be home with Mr. O (and Oli, always)... cuddling... but not too much because he's focused so he's like "shut up babe" and then Mr. O gets jealous of Louis paying all his attention to hot men running around in shorts so he gets annoyed and then Louis is like "no but babe I only have a celebrity crush on Garreth, you know I would never really call him daddy, you know I love you" and then **** **** ******** ******** ******** (maybe in this sceneario Oli isn't there lol)
